Acts 20

1 And after the uproar was ceased, Paul called unto him the disciples, and embraced them, and departed for to go into Macedonia.

2 And when he had gone over those parts, and had given them much exhortation, he came into Greece,

3 And there abode three months. And when the Jews laid wait for him, as he was about to sail into Syria, he purposed to return through Macedonia.

4 And there accompanied him into Asia Sopater of Berea; and of the Thessalonians, Aristarchus and Secundus; and Gaius of Derbe, and Timotheus; and of Asia, Tychicus and Trophimus.

5 These going before tarried for us at Troas.

6 And we sailed away from Philippi after the days of unleavened bread, and came unto them to Troas in five days; where we abode seven days.

7 And upon the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul preached unto them, ready to depart on the morrow; and continued his speech until midnight.

8 And there were many lights in the upper chamber, where they were gathered together.

9 And there sat in a window a certain young man named Eutychus, being fallen into a deep sleep: and as Paul was long preaching, he sunk down with sleep, and fell down from the third loft, and was taken up dead.

10 And Paul went down, and fell on him, and embracing him said, Trouble not yourselves; for his life is in him.

11 When he therefore was come up again, and had broken bread, and eaten, and talked a long while, even till break of day, so he departed.

12 And they brought the young man alive, and were not a little comforted.

13 And we went before to ship, and sailed unto Assos, there intending to take in Paul: for so had he appointed, minding himself to go afoot.

14 And when he met with us at Assos, we took him in, and came to Mitylene.

15 And we sailed thence, and came the next day over against Chios; and the next day we arrived at Samos, and tarried at Trogyllium; and the next day we came to Miletus.

16 For Paul had determined to sail by Ephesus, because he would not spend the time in Asia: for he hasted, if it were possible for him, to be at Jerusalem the day of Pentecost.

17 And from Miletus he sent to Ephesus, and called the elders of the church.

18 And when they were come to him, he said unto them, Ye know, from the first day that I came into Asia, after what manner I have been with you at all seasons,

19 Serving the Lord with all humility of mind, and with many tears, and temptations, which befell me by the lying in wait of the Jews:

20 And how I kept back nothing that was profitable unto you, but have shewed you, and have taught you publicly, and from house to house,

21 Testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.

22 And now, behold, I go bound in the spirit unto Jerusalem, not knowing the things that shall befall me there:

23 Save that the Holy Ghost witnesseth in every city, saying that bonds and afflictions abide me.

24 But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.

25 And now, behold, I know that ye all, among whom I have gone preaching the kingdom of God, shall see my face no more.

26 Wherefore I take you to record this day, that I am pure from the blood of all men.

27 For I have not shunned to declare unto you all the counsel of God.

28 Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.

29 For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock.

30 Also of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them.

31 Therefore watch, and remember, that by the space of three years I ceased not to warn every one night and day with tears.

32 And now, brethren, I commend you to God, and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance among all them which are sanctified.

33 I have coveted no man’s silver, or gold, or apparel.

34 Yea, ye yourselves know, that these hands have ministered unto my necessities, and to them that were with me.

35 I have shewed you all things, how that so labouring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.

36 And when he had thus spoken, he kneeled down, and prayed with them all.

37 And they all wept sore, and fell on Paul’s neck, and kissed him,

38 Sorrowing most of all for the words which he spake, that they should see his face no more. And they accompanied him unto the ship.

  1. Every soul is important.

“Now it’s up to you. Be on your toes—both for yourselves and your congregation of sheep. The Holy Spirit has put you in charge of these people—God’s people they are—to guard and protect them. God himself thought they were worth dying for. (‭Acts‬ ‭20‬:‭28‬ MSG)

Pofw has seen thousands come and go through out the years. Where are they?
These are people that have Expirienced john 3:5, Acts 2:38 stay for a couple of services and no longer there. As it says in the scripture that ‘GOD himself thought that they were worth dying for.’ Don’t we believe the same? JESUS forgive me for being selfish, help me to be ACCOUNTABLE and do my part in your kingdom.

So when they had dined, Jesus saith to Simon Peter, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me more than these? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my lambs. He saith to him again the second time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my sheep. He saith unto him the third time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he said unto him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith unto him, Feed my sheep. (‭John‬ ‭21‬:‭15-17‬ KJV)

There needs to come a time in your life that you truly must give of yourself 100% to the kingdom of GOD. And put your life aside, your family problems, your pain, your jobs, your worries. And know that The Lord will take care of you if you take care of what’s important to Him.

  2. Verses 10-12 MSG “Paul went down, stretched himself on him, and hugged him hard. “No more crying,” he said. “There’s life in him yet.” Then Paul got up and served the Master’s Supper. And went on telling stories of the faith until dawn! On that note, they left—Paul going one way, the congregation another, leading the boy off alive, and full of life themselves.” This miracle not only brought Eutychus back to life; but, renewed those who believed.

Verses 36-38 MSG “Then Paul went down on his knees, all of them kneeling with him, and prayed. And then a river of tears. Much clinging to Paul, not wanting to let him go. They knew they would never see him again—he had told them quite plainly. The pain cut deep. Then, bravely, they walked him down to the ship.” We need to cling to the the things of God, people who love us and are trying to help us.

  3. It’s ALL IN HIM

24 But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.

No matter what the storm might bring, no matter the affliction, one thing we know for sure. God has EVERYTHING UNDER HIS CONTROL AND EVERYTHING WILL BE USED FOR HIS GLORY AND HONOR. So worry about nothing. Philippians 4:5 Let your gentle spirit be known to all men. The Lord is near. 6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

I give thanks unto the Lord for HE is always present in every detail of my life. There is nothing in this world that God can not shift for your benefit, so as the storm falls, think of all the flowers that will grow, how the yard will look beautifully green, and how the garden will give us poison free fruits and vegetable for the nutrition of our bodies. God is ALWAYS GOOD.

  4. 9 And there sat in a window a certain young man named Eutychus, being fallen into a deep sleep: and as Paul was long preaching, he sunk down with sleep, and fell down from the third loft, and was taken up dead.

Selflessness!!! He gave of himself, we must give MORE!!!

  6. MORE DETERMINATION

24 But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.

Temptation and frustration are the twins of opposition to the ministry. Notice the words used by the apostle. “My course and the ministry.” Too often we flip the script and say “My ministry and the course”.

The purpose of the point is that we are wise to focus on our course daily and the ministry will present itself in our course. By MORE DETERMINATION to stay on course we position ourselves to finish with JOY. The power of a made up mind and selfless attitude equip us for success.

    iRepent
    iPraise
    iPray
    iWork
    iGive
    iReap

  7. 27 For I have not shunned to declare unto you all the counsel of God.

28 Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.

The Apostle Paul never failed to preach the truth, after telling them the full counsel of God he gave them a warning.
    Take heed unto Yourselves !
We need to heed this warning again today, Jesus said watch and pray. We must at all times be aware of where we are and what goes on around us.

    • 9 And there sat in a window a certain young man named Eutychus, being fallen into a deep sleep: and as Paul was long preaching, he sunk down with sleep, and fell down from the third loft, and was taken up dead.

This is one of my most favorite scriptures. Paul preached LONG,
Eutychus fell asleep, I’ve saw many fall asleep while I was preaching so that puts me up there with Paul!

  8. 35 I have shewed you all things, how that so labouring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.

More blessed to give than receive…
James 1:17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.

God is the giver of every good and perfect gift. We are supposed to copy His giving, to live by His example. The larger our hearts and the wider our hands are to giving of ourselves and resources, the clearer the evidence of God’s character in our lives. What do people think of God when they think of the way we use our money?

  9. iLove to eat More Word

where he stayed for three months. He was preparing to sail back to Syria when he discovered a plot by some Jews against his life, so he decided to return through Macedonia. (‭Acts of the Apostles‬ ‭20‬:‭3‬ NLT)

As I read this passage of scripture I thought it was interesting for the following reason.

Paul heard about a plot and went another way. This is insinuating to me that we must be sensitive to the Holy Ghost. If Paul would not have been sensitive, he migh insinuating to me that we must be sensitive to the Holy Ghost. If Paul would not have been sensitive, he might have died before his time. Many times in Life I feel like we walk blindly through life thinking that God’s going to protect us from every thing. This is a good thing, however we must always be sensitive to hear his voice because he might give us a word of escape that we might miss if are not sensitive .

  10. 9 And there sat in a window a certain young man named Eutychus, being fallen into a deep sleep: and as Paul was long preaching, he sunk down with sleep, and fell down from the third loft, and was taken up dead.
10 And Paul went down, and fell on him, and embracing him said, Trouble not yourselves; for his life is in him.
11 When he therefore was come up again, and had broken bread, and eaten, and talked a long while, even till break of day, so he departed.

  11. Acts 20:26
wherefore i take you to record this day that i am pure from the blood of all men.

jesus christ died for are sins by his blood we need his blood not blood of men .
    MORE JESUS AMEN

  12. 35 I have shewed you all things, how that so labouring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.

What way can we give, when we have nothing….. prayer everyone can pray . Prayer is the most precious thing you can do for someone. Prayer is more needed then tangable things any way. Jesus teach us to be mindful and prayer.

  13. Paul ends his preaching in Asia with one last miracle raising a young man from the dead after he fell from a three story window were they were meeting,he then goes through many places then calls for the Ephesian elders and told them not to let people mess up what he told them and that there were people even in their own group would try to take over and distort the word and to spare the people of Asia to help them hold on to the word he said that he had told them everything that God had wanted them to hear and that he wouldn’t see them again that he was going to leave for Jeruselum and that many trials were to come for him but that he would be alright.

We need to be like Paul and sacrifice what we want to do what God wants,Paul probably wanted to just preach and not go through the trials but God had to put him through some trials to keep Paul with him to keep him out of things he didn’t need to be in,

  14. 35 I have shewed you all things, how that so labouring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.

Take care of one another. We are the family of Christ. Family helps each other and takes care of each other. We must give of ourselves in order to help one another.

  15. 24 But my life is worth nothing to me unless I use it for finishing the work assigned me by the Lord Jesus—the work of telling others the Good News about the wonderful grace of God. (NLT)

How many of us can give a speech like Paul just did..? We know our lives are nothing unless they’re obediently lived for Christ, but there’s a lot that we just know. How many times have we just passed up opportunities that God put right in front of us so a soul might have a chance to hear the truth, to hear about Jesus. We know all these things but how can we just keep it all to ourselves? We must go out and share the Good News, be sensitive to His Spirit and obey His call.

  16. Acts 20:28-29 Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all Flock, over the which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers,to feed the Church of God,which He has purchased with His Own Blood. For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you,not sparing the flock.

    Keep our eyes on GOD.

  17. NLT of Acts 20:21
“I have had one message for Jews and Greeks alike – the necessity of repenting from sin and turning to God, and of having faith in our Lord Jesus.”

Eph. 4:5 says, “One Lord, one faith, one baptism.”
St. John 3:5 says, “Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.”
Acts 2:38 says, “Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.”

The Message we need to share with others is to let them know that there is only One God, and His name is JESUS, and there is only One way to be saved, and that is The Plan of Salvation.

  18. Wow…the Lord says it’s better to give than to receive. I know that this also means to give time and talent to the Lord. Also people will try to get you away from the gospel that we first knew or have been taught. This has happened to me. There’s a lot of voices in the world and I know I have to be on guard and only find Jesus’s voice. And read the word with fear and trembling.
    Bless you Lord.

  19. 24 But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.

Many times people let the smallest thing come between them and their relationship with the Lord. Family issues, health, petty differences, attitudes and actions, but Paul faced all of these things and more, and still he could say that none of these things move him.

We must have a made up mind, and no matter what comes our way, we are able to say that Romans 8:39 – Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

  20. 32 And now, brethren, I commend you to God, and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance among all them which are sanctified.

The best thing that Paul could give and comfort those he was leaving was the word of God. It is the word that leads and guides, saves and delivers. Leaning on the word of God coupled with the warning of wolves that would come, will carry these saints through the trials of life ahead.

  21. 1When the uproar was over, Paul sent for the believersa and encouraged them. Then he said good-bye and left for Macedonia.

Even as believers we go through trials and tribulations in our life time. We may be in a situation and ask “how will I ever get out of this trial” we feel discouraged and see no end in sight. We too need to hear words of encouragement from our fellow brethren. Words that will lift us up, but we must also pray, worship and praise our God who will bring us out of this trial.

  22. 24 But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.

God shed his blood on the cross for our sins, that we may do the works of his kingdom! How could we not finish them with joy and happiness? For it is only by the grace of God that we are here!!

  23. 16 For Paul had determined to sail by Ephesus, because he would not spend the time in Asia: for he hasted, if it were possible for him, to be at Jerusalem the day of Pentecost.

Paul hastened to Jerusalem, but tried to do good by the way, when going from place to place. We can break bread and fellowship after we have worked in our fields of ministry. The fields are white with harvest but who will work? Paul was so determimed to get to Jerusalem by the day of Pentecost that he avoided to go to Asia. Not because he didn’t like them, but because of the passion he had for the mission set before him. In doing God’s work, our own wills and those of our friends must often be crossed; we must not spend time with them when duty calls us another way.

  24. v31 Therefore watch, and remember, that by the space of three years I ceased not to warn every one night and and day with tears

I’ve have heard many brag about ” HELL”
Hell is nothing to brag about it’s something to cry about. Heaven or hell they both are real.

  25. 24 But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.

Our lives our not own, but it is God that in control and that is why we give ourselves away to God, so he can use us.

And not only do we need to follow the course God has laid out for us, but we need to finish it, we need to keep continuing on doing God’s work that he has for us. Which is preaching his gospel to every ear that will hear so that others may be saved and brought to heaven because of our witness to them.

  26. The Word speaks for itself…………..what could I say other than “Wow”, & “Amen”….

21 Testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.

24 But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.

28 Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.

35 I have shewed you all things, how that so labouring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.

“Give”…..”Testify”…..”Repent”….”Faith”…”Labor”…”Watch”….We will see Paul’s face again in Heaven, more so we will see our Savior Jesus Christ…………………

  27. Acts 20:35
I have showed you all things, how that so labouring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus how he said, it is more blessed to give than to receive.

    Be Likeminded
Romans 15:1 We then that are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak, and not to please ourselves.

  28. 24 However, I consider my life worth nothing to me; my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me—the task of testifying to the good news of God’s grace.

Will you finish the race?! By speak about God to everyone is finishing the race but when you don’t speak the truth about God you are nothing for you only had one reason to not be afraid the speak about God. So speak out and don’t be afraid to speak the 1 true thing,God!!! 🙂

  29. 9 And there sat in a window a certain young man named Eutychus, being fallen into a deep sleep: and as Paul was long preaching, he sunk down with sleep, and fell down from the third loft, and was taken up dead.

10 And Paul went down, and fell on him, and embracing him said, Trouble not yourselves; for his life is in him.

The enemy will always try to lure us to sleep so we can fall and die, but we have a Great and Merciful God that even thought We might fall, even if we might look dead , He still has the power the lift you up from whatever situation we are going through.

  30. “Therefore watch, and remember, that by the space of three years I ceased not to warn every one night and day with tears.” Paul the man of God (Jesus) did all that he could do to warn them. The true man of God (true: Holy Ghost filled and baptized in name and not titles) continues today to warn, however the choice is one’s own. Dear God, forgive me and allow me to hear the warning; “Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done”. “In God we trust”. “One nation under God”. What a mighty God we serve! Thank God for his word. God bless America, Jerusalem, and you all in Jesus name, Amen!

  31. Acts 20:21 (KJV Strong’s)
21 Testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.

    Acts 20:21 (NLT)
21 I have had one message for Jews and Greeks alike—the necessity of repenting from sin and turning to God, and of having faith in our Lord Jesus.

No matter what life may throw at us there are two things we need to constantly run to. The first is our repentance, and the second is faith.

Daily repentance is daily remembering who God is and who we are. It’s a consistent divining rod if you will toward the character of God. We should always have in the back of our mind a wonder if our actions, attitudes, and character are pleasing to God.

As Paul said we should present our bodies a living sacrifice holy and acceptable unto him. This means daily watching and daily dying out to our flesh.

The second is our faith in Jesus Christ. We must walk, talk, eat, and breathe faith. Faith is the currency of heaven. Faith is what God is looking for in these last days. We aren’t fleshly people looking for heaven, but rather spiritual people looking to go back home. We are ambassadors of heaven and are responsible for helping to manifest the kingdom of God here on earth.

  32. 9 And there sat in a window a certain young man named Eutychus, being fallen into a deep sleep: and as Paul was long preaching, he sunk down with sleep, and fell down from the third loft, and was taken up dead.

10 And Paul went down, and fell on him, and embracing him said, Trouble not yourselves; for his life is in him.

The day will come and we will all witness these kind of miricles. Just like pastor prophisied, there will be a greater demonstration of Gods power every time we get together. Be ready church, Revival!

  33. 24 But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.

We out to finish our course with joy and be thankful for what God has done. Be grateful for our testimonies and all what God kept us from.

  34. 35 I have shewed you all things, how that so labouring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.
    Amen!

  35. 7 And upon the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul preached unto them, ready to depart on the morrow; and continued his speech until midnight.

They did not forsake the gathering of the saints. They gathered together to eat and then they partook of the word. They enjoyed themselves and were having so much fellowship that they stayed together all night.

  36. In this passage, a boy falls out of a window and hits the ground bc he fell asleep during Paul’s long winded preaching. Afterwards Paul prays him back to life. We see this today in our services. It usually is when someone is in crazy praise and falls down or someone falls through a widow (it has happened). There are normally no injuries that are permanent. God is a healer.

  37. And I have been a constant example of how you can help those in need by working hard. You should remember the words of the Lord Jesus: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’ ” (‭Acts of the Apostles‬ ‭20‬:‭35‬ NLT)

We should all follow this great example- work is good! We need to work in order to live, work for Gods kingdom to bless the lost! It is always better to give than to recieve

  38. 24 But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.

Hallelujah! That I may finish my course with joy. What better joy than to see a soul give their life to The Lord Jesus Christ. Were in this world be testify of the great power and love that Jesus has towards us. We need to be so sensitive to the Spirit so that we may know who to testify of the miracle and wonders my Lord Jesus is doing and yet to do 🙂 nobody else like you Jesus 🙂

  39. 24 But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.

It is no easy task, to do the ministry, that is why we must die daily to ourselves. That we may be able to testify the gospel. It is an every day pursuit after God and dying to ourselves. Decreasing that he may increase.

  40. When they arrived he declared, “You know that from the day I set foot in the province of Asia until now (‭Acts of the Apostles‬ ‭20‬:‭18‬ NLT)

You know, from the first day that I came to Asia, in what manner I always lived among you.Paul first calls attention to himself as an example. But an example of following Jesus,Paul never act like a religious celebrity, for Paul never expect people to serve and honor him he just wanted to be serving the lord with humility !!! In Jesus Name Amen!!!!

  41. 10. And Paul went down, and fell on him, and embracing him said, Trouble not yourselves; his life is still in him.
When our brothers and sisters fall asleep or are dying spiritually we need to fall over them, travail, praying hard, stepping in that gap, embracing them and help bring them into revival! If you saw your loved one slipping, would you just let them die? Paul knew that God could revive the boy through his own faith.

  42. 7 And upon the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul preached unto them, ready to depart on the morrow; and continued his speech until midnight.

When we fall asleep spiritually it’s not long before we find ourselves dead. Just like this young man, but it was by the embrace of the man of God and the Holy Ghost inside of him that brought this young man to life again. That is definitely something to think about, that when we find ourselves asleep or spiritually; we can trust the man of God to be used by God to bring us back to life.

  43. He kneeled down !!!! 35. I have shewed you all things, how that so labouring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Je’-sus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive. Rom. 15 : 1, 1 Thess.4 : 11 36. And when he had thus spoken, he kneeled down, and prayed with them all. Acts 7 : 60 37. And they all wept sore, and fell on Paul’s neck, and kissed him, 38. Sorrowing most of all for the words which he spake, that they should see his face no more, And they accompaniedhim unto the ship. IT is more blessed to give than receive !!!! I AM BLESSED !!!! THANK YOU JESUS !!!!
