Acts 25

1 Now when Festus was come into the province, after three days he ascended from Caesarea to Jerusalem.

2 Then the high priest and the chief of the Jews informed him against Paul, and besought him,

3 And desired favour against him, that he would send for him to Jerusalem, laying wait in the way to kill him.

4 But Festus answered, that Paul should be kept at Caesarea, and that he himself would depart shortly thither.

5 Let them therefore, said he, which among you are able, go down with me, and accuse this man, if there be any wickedness in him.

6 And when he had tarried among them more than ten days, he went down unto Caesarea; and the next day sitting on the judgment seat commanded Paul to be brought.

7 And when he was come, the Jews which came down from Jerusalem stood round about, and laid many and grievous complaints against Paul, which they could not prove.

8 While he answered for himself, Neither against the law of the Jews, neither against the temple, nor yet against Caesar, have I offended any thing at all.

9 But Festus, willing to do the Jews a pleasure, answered Paul, and said, Wilt thou go up to Jerusalem, and there be judged of these things before me?

10 Then said Paul, I stand at Caesar’s judgment seat, where I ought to be judged: to the Jews have I done no wrong, as thou very well knowest.

11 For if I be an offender, or have committed any thing worthy of death, I refuse not to die: but if there be none of these things whereof these accuse me, no man may deliver me unto them. I appeal unto Caesar.

12 Then Festus, when he had conferred with the council, answered, Hast thou appealed unto Caesar? unto Caesar shalt thou go.

13 And after certain days king Agrippa and Bernice came unto Caesarea to salute Festus.

14 And when they had been there many days, Festus declared Paul’s cause unto the king, saying, There is a certain man left in bonds by Felix:

15 About whom, when I was at Jerusalem, the chief priests and the elders of the Jews informed me, desiring to have judgment against him.

16 To whom I answered, It is not the manner of the Romans to deliver any man to die, before that he which is accused have the accusers face to face, and have licence to answer for himself concerning the crime laid against him.

17 Therefore, when they were come hither, without any delay on the morrow I sat on the judgment seat, and commanded the man to be brought forth.

18 Against whom when the accusers stood up, they brought none accusation of such things as I supposed:

19 But had certain questions against him of their own superstition, and of one Jesus, which was dead, whom Paul affirmed to be alive.

20 And because I doubted of such manner of questions, I asked him whether he would go to Jerusalem, and there be judged of these matters.

21 But when Paul had appealed to be reserved unto the hearing of Augustus, I commanded him to be kept till I might send him to Caesar.

22 Then Agrippa said unto Festus, I would also hear the man myself. To morrow, said he, thou shalt hear him.

23 And on the morrow, when Agrippa was come, and Bernice, with great pomp, and was entered into the place of hearing, with the chief captains, and principal men of the city, at Festus’ commandment Paul was brought forth.

24 And Festus said, King Agrippa, and all men which are here present with us, ye see this man, about whom all the multitude of the Jews have dealt with me, both at Jerusalem, and also here, crying that he ought not to live any longer.

25 But when I found that he had committed nothing worthy of death, and that he himself hath appealed to Augustus, I have determined to send him.

26 Of whom I have no certain thing to write unto my lord. Wherefore I have brought him forth before you, and specially before thee, O king Agrippa, that, after examination had, I might have somewhat to write.

27 For it seemeth to me unreasonable to send a prisoner, and not withal to signify the crimes laid against him.

  1. More persecution and more hearings, and it goes all the way to Ceasar………

    “Be blessed”……………….

  2. In reading this chapter we see where every governor is trying to pass the buck from one to the next. They each confess to finding no fault in Paul; yet, never release him for fear of being politically correct. Paul meanwhile is in prison this entire time, being called up to explain himself over and over again. Paul’s answers or responses are always matter of fact and usually leaves them scrambling for an out. God was with him and this is why Paul could always be bold and strong. Paul’s attitude and responses were key in what I believe made each one of the governors/kings want to hear him for themselves. We’ve got to be bold, we’ve got to strong and stand firmly on Truth. Lord I pray that your Word attract people in to POFW to hear it for themselves.

  3. 7 And when he was come, the Jews which came down from Jerusalem stood round about, and laid many and grievous complaints against Paul, which they could not prove.

8 While he answered for himself, Neither against the law of the Jews, neither against the temple, nor yet against Caesar, have I offended any thing at all.

A Christian should live his life in such a way that any accusation of wrong doing would be a lie or those that hear it would be astonished if it were to be true.

  4. Innocent until proven guilty

Sounds familiar????? except that they insisted on founding Jesus Christ guilty so they fabricated evidence against Him. Matt 27:11-13 11 And Jesus stood before the governor: and the governor asked him, saying, Art thou the King of the Jews? And Jesus said unto him, Thou sayest.
12 And when he was accused of the chief priests and elders, he answered nothing.
13 Then said Pilate unto him, Hearest thou not how many things they witness against thee?

  5. 9 But Festus, willing to do the Jews a pleasure, answered Paul, and said, Wilt thou go up to Jerusalem, and there be judged of these things before me?

10 Then said Paul, I stand at Caesar’s judgment seat, where I ought to be judged: to the Jews have I done no wrong, as thou very well knowest.

11 For if I be an offender, or have committed any thing worthy of death, I refuse not to die: but if there be none of these things whereof these accuse me, no man may deliver me unto them. I appeal unto Caesar.

12 Then Festus, when he had conferred with the council, answered, Hast thou appealed unto Caesar? unto Caesar shalt thou go.

Paul was willing to give all for Jesus or we willing to do that for our God. This truth should be everything to us.

  6. 25 But when I found that he had committed nothing worthy of death, and that he himself hath appealed to Augustus, I have determined to send him.

Hallelujah! No matter what other people might say about you or trials you may be going through God will always give us favor and be by our side. We are chosen and meant to do great things for His kingdom. When I was introduced to The Lord and baptized in Jesus Name , all my family were against me because I wanted I live for God. It was a horrible feeling to be rejoicing because I had met my true savior and yet my family make me feel like I was wrong. The devil is a liar and will always want to make you feel worthless, but we are chosen to be Gods children 🙂 don’t let the devil take away your joy!!! The devil is under my feet!! Hallelujah!!!

  7. Judgement day.

What will judgment day be like when we stand before the Lord? When He opens the book of life will there be entry after entry of our transgressions or will the page be white as snow; purified by the blood of Jesus? Paul is being accused falsely and Festus; wisely, asked for help in what to do. The last verse states: “For it seemeth to me unreasonable to send a prisoner, and not withal to signify the crimes laid against him.” Will we be able to stand before the Lord and our record have no entries?

  8. 10 But Paul replied, “No! This is the official Roman court, so I ought to be tried right here. You know very well I am not guilty of harming the Jews.
11 If I have done something worthy of death, I don’t refuse to die. But if I am innocent, no one has a right to turn me over to these men to kill me. I appeal to Caesar!” (NLT)

Paul was bold enough to stand strong in his faith and trust in the Lord. Despite the many accusations, he did not grow weary, give up, and say, “fine, yes I did whatever you said, I’m just tired of this.” No! Just the same we should always be strong in the Lord and know where our help comes from, know that we can trust in God and rest assured in faith that He will see us through.

We will believe the report of the Lord, no matter what the world says!

  9. MORE APPEALS

21 But when Paul had appealed to be reserved unto the hearing of Augustus, I commanded him to be kept till I might send him to Caesar.

An appeal represents a call to a higher authority. I don’t believe Paul was afraid to die because he was aware of the probability when he went to Jerusalem. I do believe that his purpose was to share his testimony of JESUS with as many people as possible and at every level possible.

His appeal was based on the cause of JESUS, let everything we do be founded on the cause of JESUS and HIS Kingdom.

What the world calls superstition the CHURCH calls DOCTRINE.

19 But had certain questions against him of their own superstition, and of one Jesus, which was dead, whom Paul affirmed to be alive.

I appeal to the highest court possible; not the court of public opinion, not the court of a national council, but the court of PRAISE unto JESUS.

MORE APPEALS unto JESUS through Praise will place us before great men and women to share the testimony of our gospel.

    iPraise

  10. iLove to eat More Word

10 Then said Paul, I stand at Caesar’s judgment seat, where I ought to be judged: to the Jews have I done no wrong, as thou very well knowest.

Paul was ever so wise in the which he used every legal right he was entitled to set up platform to teach the word of God. Alot of folks today, don’t emphasize the rights we have as US citizens, but the life of Paul reveals to me a great wealth of both spiritual knowledge and knowledge of his Roman rights. We should be prepared, as we preach in this current generation, for both realms.

  11. King Agrippa was Herod Agrippa II (a.d. 27–92/93), son of Herod Agrippa I (see Acts 12:1). He ruled over parts of Palestine from a.d. 53 until his death. His sister Bernice was widowed when her second husband, Herod King of Chalcis, died in a.d. 48. From then she lived with her brother. In an attempt to quiet rumors of an incestuous relationship between them, she resolved to marry Polemo of Cilicia, but she soon left him and returned to Herod Agrippa II. Their incestuous relationship became the gossip of Rome according to Josephus (Ant. 20.7.3 [20.145–147]). The visit of Agrippa and Bernice gave Festus the opportunity to get some internal Jewish advice. Herod Agrippa II was a trusted adviser because he was known to be very loyal to Rome (Josephus, J. W. 2.16.4 [2.345–401]).

  12. 27 For it seemeth to me unreasonable to send a prisoner, and not withal to signify the crimes laid against him.

ACCUSATIONS, ACCUSATIONS AND MORE ACCUSATIONS…….!!! AFTER ALL WAS SAID, THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD FIND TO ACCUSE HIM OF??? SOUND FAMILIAR??? JESUS was in that same situation….. HE LIVES!!! HE REIGNS!!! HE IS HERE!!! HE IS HERE IN US!!! Thank you JESUS!

  13. seems even through your toughest test God uses his people to be witnesses even to the wealthy and powerful.

  14. Act 25:25 — Act 25:27
But I found that he had done nothing deserving death. And as he himself appealed to the emperor, I decided to go ahead and send him.
But I have nothing definite to write to my lord about him. Therefore I have brought him before you all, and especially before you, King Agrippa, so that, after we have examined him, I may have something to write.
For it seems to me unreasonable, in sending a prisoner, not to indicate the charges against him.”

When we stand on the word of God , no matter what kind of accusations and lies our enemy tries to bring upon us, His Word will give us the wisdom to respond correctly. Even when we are in a prison He protects us, and if we suffer for the name of Jesus it’s all for His Glory.

  15. 9 But Festus, willing to do the Jews a pleasure, answered Paul, and said, Wilt thou go up to Jerusalem, and there be judged of these things before me?

Who are we pleasing? Festus was a people pleaser, doing what he thought the people wanted, regardless of the cost or the truth. We must be careful how we react and respond in situations. Take the time to weigh it out and seek out the truth. We are all guilty of reacting out of frustration or hurt, and some things are better handled after we take the time to pray about it are reassured that what we are responding to is in fact the truth.

  16. 10 Then said Paul, I stand at Caesar’s judgment seat, where I ought to be judged: to the Jews have I done no wrong, as thou very well knowest.

Paul was willing to give up his life for God. All God asks of us is to lay our life in his hands and let him take control!

  17. 27 For it seemeth to me unreasonable to send a prisoner, and not withal to signify the crimes laid against him.

The lamb brought to the slaughter.

As I was reading this, it reminded me of Jesus. He did not do anything wrong yet falsely accused and put to death. Thank you Jesus for reminding us that you have been through it all.

  18. 7 And when he was come, the Jews which came down from Jerusalem stood round about, and laid many and grievous complaints against Paul, which they could not prove.

8 While he answered for himself, Neither against the law of the Jews, neither against the temple, nor yet against Caesar, have I offended any thing at all.

This reminds me of how satan, the accuser of the brethren, goes around trying to put guilt and shame abs remind you of your past wrongs and say you are this and that and try to bring wrongs and tell you you will never do or be. But just like them that accused Paul cannot prove anything because we plead on the blood of Jesus our redeemer. And we are covered. Thank God for his mercy and grace and covering us with His blood. We are not here to conform to this world and be man pleasers but rather are to be holy-separate, and please the Lord.

  19. Acts 25:5-9
5, Let them therefore, said he, which among you are able, go down with me, and accuse this man, if there be any wickedness in him.
6, And when he had tarried among them more than ten days, he went down unto Caesarea; and the next day sitting on the judgment seat commanded Paul to be brought.
7, And when he was come, the Jews which came down from Jerusalem stood round about, and laid many and grievous complaints against Paul, which they could not prove.
8, While he answered for himself, Neither against the law of the Jews, neither against the temple, nor yet against Caesar, have I offended any thing at all.
9, But Festus, willing to do the Jews a pleasure, answered Paul, and said, Wilt thou go up to Jerusalem, and there be judged of these things before me?

It’s better to stand alone and be pleasing to God, then to be a part of the crowd and be pleasing to man.

  20. 10 Then said Paul, I stand at Caesar’s judgment seat, where I ought to be judged: to the Jews have I done no wrong, as thou very well knowest.

We need to be willing to die for our Lord, people always say “I’ll die for him I’ll die for him ” but are you really willing to put you life in Gods hands and let him use you and guide you . Actions speak louder than words !!!

  21. Acts 25:16 To whom I answered,It is not the manner of the Romans to deliver any man to die, before that he which is accused have the accusers face to face, and have license to answer for himself concerning the crime laid against him.

One day we will come up against our accusers, who doesn’t want to hear about Jesus, but we will stand together and call his name,Jesus!

  22. 10 Then said Paul, I stand at Caesar’s judgment seat, where I ought to be judged: to the Jews have I done no wrong, as thou very well knowest.

11 For if I be an offender, or have committed any thing worthy of death, I refuse not to die: but if there be none of these things whereof these accuse me, no man may deliver me unto them. I appeal unto Caesar.

I love it Paul straight out tells them you know. I have done nothing wrong. Where is the evidence? Why u mad bruh?

Goes to show you that even when your doing what God tells you to do or doing whats right and pleasing to God. People who are envious, and jealous will try to stop you from being a soul winner. But dont let that stop you. Those people on your job, or at your school need Jesus. And. To whom much is given much is required.
    Go give them Jesus!

  23. 3. And desired favour against him, that he would send for him to Jerusalem, laying wait in the way to kill him.

The enemy is always lying in wait to destroy you…stay alert, so that he doesn’t succeed!

  24. It was hard for Felix to write the crimes Paul commited as he hadn’t done anything but believe in Jesus and him crucified, buried and risen from the dead. We must stand firm on our faith when the days of trying come. We will be witnessing to someone when we do! Be found guilty of being a born again believer!

  25. 5 Let them therefore, said he, which among you are able, go down with me, and accuse this man, if there be any wickedness in him. (KJV 25:5)

Let those who have the authority among you go down with me and accuse this man, for him to see if there is any fault in him, for festus was so desparately willing to put Paul back on the trail again, to resolve the matter,Yet festus insisted that it would happen in caesarea, for not in Jerusalem!!! In Jesus Name Amen !!!

  26. Acts 25:11 (KJV Strong’s)
11 For if I be an offender, or have committed any thing worthy of death, I refuse not to die: but if there be none of these things whereof these accuse me, no man may deliver me unto them. I appeal unto Caesar.

If I have done anything worthy of death I refuse not to die!

What a statement that Paul has made. He is so confident in his walk with God that he is willing to be put to death if they find anything that he has done wrong.

Paul is ready to be judged if he has done anything wrong.

This is the attitude to have in the face of accusation. I am willing to die even I have done wrong but if not then I believe I should live.

Humility is the key to facing the judge’s stand.

  27. “For it seemeth to me unreasonable to send a prisoner, and not withal to signify the crimes laid against him.” Paul (the man of God) had given them no reason, which made his accusers all the more upset. The deceiver (satan) was attacking the man of God, as he (satan) was well aware of what could happen if talk of Jesus continued. The man of God today continues the work that Paul and others before have done, however it is one’s own choice on which side one will stand. Dear God, grant me the boldness to stand firm on your word and with the man of God, so that I may hear well done and enter in; “Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done”. “In God we trust”. “One nation under God”. What a mighty God we serve! Thank God for his word. God bless America, Jerusalem, and you all in Jesus name, Amen!

  28. For it seemeth to me unreasonable to send a prisoner, and not withal to signify the crimes laid against him. (‭Acts‬ ‭25‬:‭27‬ KJV)

How can you send a man to his prison to his death with out being proven guilty?

Just like Jesus. Where did he go wrong?

  29. 26 Of whom I have no certain thing to write unto my lord. Wherefore I have brought him forth before you, and specially before thee, O king Agrippa, that, after examination had, I might have somewhat to write.

At times we will be charged for simply loving Jesus and living for Him. There is many times where some have been murdered for such. Yet We will stand bold, we will not allow the fear of what may hinder us from now.

Deut 31:6 Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the Lord thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.

Fear God not man, for No Weapon Shall Prosper!

Isaiah 54:17 No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is of me, saith the Lord.

  30. It sounds like Paul is getting tossed around by different groups and bodies that the Word of God has made them uneasy, the very acts Paul displays working for Christ makes them uneasy. They’re trying to judge him, put cannot find any true fault. Romans 8:31 What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?

  31. 19 But had certain questions against him of their own superstition, and of one Jesus, which was dead, whom Paul affirmed to be alive.

It’s hard for the people to believe Paul when he says God is not dead. Paul defends himself by speaking truth. He hasn’t hurt no one let the truth convict the lost souls. They can run from the truth and ignore it but they can’t hide from God.

  32. “For it seemeth to me unreasonable to send a prisoner, and not withal to signify the crimes laid against him.”
    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭25:27‬ ‭KJV‬‬

They still can’t tell what he did wrong. They are just angry with him for telling the truth so maybe now that he is with the king they will find out what he did wrong. Jesus be glorified in our lives that when people don’t like us they can still find nothing wrong with what we have done.

  33. 17 Therefore, when they were come hither, without any delay on the morrow I sat on the judgment seat, and commanded the man to be brought forth.

18 Against whom when the accusers stood up, they brought none accusation of such things as I supposed:

19 But had certain questions against him of their own superstition, and of one Jesus, which was dead, whom Paul affirmed to be alive.

  34. 27 For it seemeth to me unreasonable to send a prisoner, and not withal to signify the crimes laid against him.

We are constantly under a microscope, with a carnal world searching for some flaw, some blimish they can pick at. The accuser of the brethren himself, Satan is all about slander, lies, gossip and of course accusations. Under the fire of all the accusation brought against him they cant stick because their was no just cause for Paul to be sentenced for any injustice. He had done nothing wrong in the eyes of the law. In our walks we will experience a time where we are falsely accused but like Paul, even like Jesus, the accusations cannot hold water. The religious community is asking for judicial consent to murder a man for speaking a truth they don’t want to hear. The Lord may allow oppression to come from the works of man, even unto death but they would do well to of heeded the Word of the Lord.

Ps 105:15 “Do not touch my anointed ones; do my prophets no harm.”

  35. They could not prove !!!! 5. Let them therefore, said he, which among you are able, go down with me, and accuse this man, if there be any wickedness in him. 6. And when he had tarried among them more than ten days, he went down unto Caes-a-re’-a; and the next day sitting on the judgment seat commanded Paul to be brought. 7. And when he was come, the Jews which came down from Je-ru’-sa-lem stood round about, and laid many and grievous complaints against Paul, which they could not prove. Praise ye the Lord !!!! You are Worthy of All Praise !!!! HALLELUJAH !!!!

  36. 27 For it seemeth to me unreasonable to send a prisoner, and not withal to signify the crimes laid against him.

Thanks be to God that He sent His son to die for our sins. His sacrifice of shedding His blood offers us the opportunity to everlasting life. It’s by His blood that our sins are covered and never to be remembered.

When the enemy ties to go before God with our sins after repentance and washing of blood, God looks ans says I remember nothing and therefore there is no reason to make them a prisoner and we cant find just cause.

IT pays to have God on your side and to live a life of repentance.

  37. 8 While he answered for himself, Neither against the law of the Jews, neither against the temple, nor yet against Caesar, have I offended any thing at all.
    Proverbs 19:11 ESV
Good sense makes one slow to anger, and it is his glory to overlook an offense.

  38. His Witnesses

25 But when I found that he had committed nothing worthy of death, and that he himself hath appealed to Augustus, I have determined to send him.

The Jews wanted Paul punished but their dispute became a platform for the secular world to hear the truth. Just as Pilate found no fault in Jesus, the people who fall into the category of “neutral secular” may find themselves intrigued by those with truth when they are brought on trial by those in opposition. In the Greek, to be a witness is to affirm what one has seen or heard or experienced, as through death as being a martyr. Our trial could be our opportunity to be His witness in a greater way.

    Mark 15:4-5
4 And Pilate asked him again, saying, Answerest thou nothing? behold how many things they witness against thee.

5 But Jesus yet answered nothing; so that Pilate marvelled.
