Acts 10

1 There was a certain man in Caesarea called Cornelius, a centurion of the band called the Italian band,

2 A devout man, and one that feared God with all his house, which gave much alms to the people, and prayed to God alway.

3 He saw in a vision evidently about the ninth hour of the day an angel of God coming in to him, and saying unto him, Cornelius.

4 And when he looked on him, he was afraid, and said, What is it, Lord? And he said unto him, Thy prayers and thine alms are come up for a memorial before God.

5 And now send men to Joppa, and call for one Simon, whose surname is Peter:

6 He lodgeth with one Simon a tanner, whose house is by the sea side: he shall tell thee what thou oughtest to do.

7 And when the angel which spake unto Cornelius was departed, he called two of his household servants, and a devout soldier of them that waited on him continually;

8 And when he had declared all these things unto them, he sent them to Joppa.

9 On the morrow, as they went on their journey, and drew nigh unto the city, Peter went up upon the housetop to pray about the sixth hour:

10 And he became very hungry, and would have eaten: but while they made ready, he fell into a trance,

11 And saw heaven opened, and a certain vessel descending upon him, as it had been a great sheet knit at the four corners, and let down to the earth:

12 Wherein were all manner of fourfooted beasts of the earth, and wild beasts, and creeping things, and fowls of the air.

13 And there came a voice to him, Rise, Peter; kill, and eat.

14 But Peter said, Not so, Lord; for I have never eaten any thing that is common or unclean.

15 And the voice spake unto him again the second time, What God hath cleansed, that call not thou common.

16 This was done thrice: and the vessel was received up again into heaven.

17 Now while Peter doubted in himself what this vision which he had seen should mean, behold, the men which were sent from Cornelius had made enquiry for Simon’s house, and stood before the gate,

18 And called, and asked whether Simon, which was surnamed Peter, were lodged there.

19 While Peter thought on the vision, the Spirit said unto him, Behold, three men seek thee.

20 Arise therefore, and get thee down, and go with them, doubting nothing: for I have sent them.

21 Then Peter went down to the men which were sent unto him from Cornelius; and said, Behold, I am he whom ye seek: what is the cause wherefore ye are come?

22 And they said, Cornelius the centurion, a just man, and one that feareth God, and of good report among all the nation of the Jews, was warned from God by an holy angel to send for thee into his house, and to hear words of thee.

23 Then called he them in, and lodged them. And on the morrow Peter went away with them, and certain brethren from Joppa accompanied him.

24 And the morrow after they entered into Caesarea. And Cornelius waited for them, and he had called together his kinsmen and near friends.

25 And as Peter was coming in, Cornelius met him, and fell down at his feet, and worshipped him.

26 But Peter took him up, saying, Stand up; I myself also am a man.

27 And as he talked with him, he went in, and found many that were come together.

28 And he said unto them, Ye know how that it is an unlawful thing for a man that is a Jew to keep company, or come unto one of another nation; but God hath shewed me that I should not call any man common or unclean.

29 Therefore came I unto you without gainsaying, as soon as I was sent for: I ask therefore for what intent ye have sent for me?

30 And Cornelius said, Four days ago I was fasting until this hour; and at the ninth hour I prayed in my house, and, behold, a man stood before me in bright clothing,

31 And said, Cornelius, thy prayer is heard, and thine alms are had in remembrance in the sight of God.

32 Send therefore to Joppa, and call hither Simon, whose surname is Peter; he is lodged in the house of one Simon a tanner by the sea side: who, when he cometh, shall speak unto thee.

33 Immediately therefore I sent to thee; and thou hast well done that thou art come. Now therefore are we all here present before God, to hear all things that are commanded thee of God.

34 Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:

35 But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him.

36 The word which God sent unto the children of Israel, preaching peace by Jesus Christ: (he is Lord of all:)

37 That word, I say, ye know, which was published throughout all Judaea, and began from Galilee, after the baptism which John preached;

38 How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.

39 And we are witnesses of all things which he did both in the land of the Jews, and in Jerusalem; whom they slew and hanged on a tree:

40 Him God raised up the third day, and shewed him openly;

41 Not to all the people, but unto witnesses chosen before God, even to us, who did eat and drink with him after he rose from the dead.

42 And he commanded us to preach unto the people, and to testify that it is he which was ordained of God to be the Judge of quick and dead.

43 To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins.

44 While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.

45 And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost.

46 For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter,

47 Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?

48 And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days.

  1. Acts 10:34
Then peter opened his mouth and said of a truth i perceive that god is no respecter of prisons.
We must open up are mouths like peter did so we can speak the truth about the word of god More Jesus. Amen

  2. 30 And Cornelius said, Four days ago I was fasting until this hour; and at the ninth hour I prayed in my house, and, behold, a man stood before me in bright clothing,

31 And said, Cornelius, thy prayer is heard, and thine alms are had in remembrance in the sight of God.

33 Immediately therefore I sent to thee; and thou hast well done that thou art come. Now therefore are we all here present before God, to hear all things that are commanded thee of God.
Report the miracles of God! Rejoice together as one body for what God is doing.

  3. The Holy Ghost fire…
I thankyou Jesus for the Holy Ghost. I realize that one someone is filled with the Spirit, he has a special gift from God. I pray that people will see me filled by my actions and walk and know that they can come to me if need be, like Cornelius came to Peter. But I will know that it’s because of Jesus that makes people draw to me. I thankyou Lord. I love you Jesus.
    What a good God (Jesus).

  4. Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons: But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him. (‭Acts‬ ‭10‬:‭34-35‬ KJV)

Thank you Jesus for bringing salvation to our nation. My prayer is that our nation would turn to God, and live a life of obedience to his word salvation has come to us.

  5. Acts 10:24
“And the morrow after they entered into Caesarea. And Cornelius waited for them, he had called together his kinsmen and near friends.”

Friendship Sunday is coming. Invite your kinsmen (family) and friends to hear about JESUS.

  6. 28 And he said unto them, Ye know how that it is an unlawful thing for a man that is a Jew to keep company, or come unto one of another nation; but God hath shewed me that I should not call any man common or unclean.

Peter said God showed him not to call any man common or unclean. The Lord let Peter know that who you are was not as important as being born again. Your name or who your parents are does not matter to God, what’s in your heart matters. This is a very important lesson of life we all should learn, we have no lock on this message it is for whosoever will.

  7. 35 But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him.
The Greek translation for fear in this text is obedience. If every tribe, group , nation, family, mass be obedient to God and work righteously, then in Him will we be accepted.

  8. Act 10:19 — Act 10:20
And while Peter was pondering the vision, the Spirit said to him, “Behold, three men are looking for you.
Rise and go down and accompany them without hesitation, for I have sent them.”

When we are working in God’s kingdom and following what His Word says, The Lord will provide what we need to accomplish His work. This is why we should never hesitate and make excuses why we can’t do His work, but be willing to trust Him and go.

  9. 28 And he said unto them, Ye know how that it is an unlawful thing for a man that is a Jew to keep company, or come unto one of another nation; but God hath shewed me that I should not call any man common or unclean.

29 Therefore came I unto you without gainsaying, as soon as I was sent for: I ask therefore for what intent ye have sent for me?

Sometimes God will give us answers in ways we don’t expect like what Peter had in this chapter. He didn’t understand the vision at first but then when he was brought into the situation God was talking about it clcked and Peter realized what it was about.

You may not know whatGod is trying to speak to you now, but at some point, it’ll all make sense.

  10. MORE PRAYER

31 And said, Cornelius, thy prayer is heard, and thine alms are had in remembrance in the sight of God.

Satans plot to devceiver believers, by suggesting that prayer is not working, reveals the selfish spirit of pride that it is presented in.

Prayer is not a list of things for GOD to do for us.

Prayer is a means of communication with our infinite creator.

Many prayers could take years to come to pass. In chapter 10 GOD allows to see into his occasionally hard to understand process of answering the prayers of faithful people.

GOD hears and records every PRAYER and every OFFERING.

We should be good stewards of TIME and FINANCES before GOD. He keeps eternal records.

    iRepent
    iPraise
    iPray
    iWork
    iGive
    iReap

  11. Acts 10:28
And he said unto them, Ye know how that it is an unlawful thing for a man that is a Jew to keep company, or come unto one of another nation; but God hath shewed me that I should not call any man common or unclean.

It doesn’t matter what nationally, social status, rish or poor, we should take the Gospel of salvation to anyone, we were all created by God and everyone needs GOD!

  12. Acts 10:25 (NASB Strong’s)
25 When Peter entered, Cornelius met him, and fell at his feet and worshiped him.

    Acts 10:25 (AMP)
25 As Peter arrived, Cornelius met him, and falling down at his feet he made obeisance and paid worshipful reverence to him.

Acts 10:25 (Wuest – The New Testament: An Expanded Translation)
25 And when it came to pass that Peter entered, Cornelius having met him, having fallen at his feet, prostrated himself in an expression of profound respect.

Obviously Cornelius was not a man that he would worship any person. In fact the angel that came to him didn’t receive the same reaction that Cornelius gave Peter. So what was the difference? Why did Cornelius fall down in reverence and worshipful respect to Peter?

I believe it is because that Cornelius recognized something in Peter he was familiar with. He was a man of prayer, and devotion. He spent time in the presence of God though he had not yet been filled with his spirit.

The church is the manifested physical Jesus to this world. I pray that we become so full of his spirit, presence, power, and anointing that others recognize him in us so much it cause them to want to worship Him!

  13. iLove to eat more Word

34 Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:

35 But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him.

Amen, God loves every person no matter what color or background. I am very thankful to serve a God that it’s loving and caring and compassionate.

  14. 1 There was a certain man in Caesarea called Cornelius, a centurion of the band called the Italian band,

This is confirmation to POFW of the many people sitting on denominational pews that are seeking God for “MORE.” We notice that Cornelius had to listen to the Lord and be obedient when Peter arrived, and Peter had to listen to the Lord and be obedient to go.

My desire is to fine tune my ear to the still small voice of the Lord so I can be obedient where He sends me…..someone is seeking for more of Him, and He will send someone to them……will it be me???

  15. 9th hour

The 9th hour is the same as 3 p.m.

Besides the fact that it had been four days to the hour since the voice came to Cornelius, it was also the same hour that Christ died on the cross. The veil was rent, the Old Covenant had passed away, now Peter is being revealed the purpose behind his vision where the prophet said, ” Then, after doing all those things, I will pour out my Spirit upon all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy. Your old men will dream dreams, and your young men will see visions”. The New Covenant is birth. I think the fact that 3 p.m. was highlighted in the story of Acts 10 is significant. Peter would have looked for why 3 p.m., and would have easily had his mind led by the Spirit to the 3 p.m. of the cross.

Cornelius was a centurion; In the gospels there was a centurion at the foot of the cross at 3 p.m. (9th hour) when Christ died. He said, “Surely this was the Son of God.” Acts 10 when the Gentiles begin to stream into the Church is a portrait of the Cross.

  16. What company are you keeping?

26 But Peter took him up, saying, Stand up; I myself also am a man.
27 And as he talked with him, he went in, and found many that were come together.
28 And he said unto them, Ye know how that it is an unlawful thing for a man that is a Jew to keep company, or come unto one of another nation; but God hath shewed me that I should not call any man common or unclean.

Who is at your house? Who are you keeping company with. Before Peter went to Cornelius’ house he had brought in the three that Cornelius had sent into his house. Then when they got to Cornelius’ house, he had many at his house. As a soul winning church we must not be afraid of who we bring into the house of God. Everyone need s to hear about this gospel.

  17. Open to ALL!!!!!!!!!!

34 Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:
35 But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him.

The Good News of Salvation was no longer just for the Jewish Nation; because of this revelation the Truth of One Faith, One God, One Baptism, was open to all, even this little Catholic Puerto Rican girl and for that I am thankful. For you do not know like I know what my Jesus has done for me and He will do it for you also if you let Him. God is Good all the time and All the Time He is GOOD!!!!

  18. The Original Friend Day

23 Then called he them in, and lodged them. And on the morrow Peter went away with them, and certain brethren from Joppa accompanied him.

24 And the morrow after they entered into Caesarea. And Cornelius waited for them, and he had called together his kinsmen and near friends.

Cornelius not only was faithful in his devotion to God but he was faithful in his love to his family and friends. God chose to use him and his house as the first place He poured out His Spirit upon the Gentiles, and through God blessing Cornelius, Cornelius’ friends were also blessed. Cornelius didn’t want his friends and family to miss out on what God was doing and called them together for an original Friend Day when the promises of God were fulfilled through his house. And likewise, as Peter went to minister, he brought friends with him to share in the supernatural experience, to bring the church to Cornelius’ house.

    Proverbs 11:30 AMP
The fruit of the [uncompromisingly] righteous is a tree of life, and he who is wise captures human lives [for God, as a fisher of men—he gathers and receives them for eternity.]

    Proverbs 27:10
Thine own friend, and thy father’s friend, forsake not; neither go into thy brother’s house in the day of thy calamity: for better is a neighbour that is near than a brother far off.

  19. 15 And the voice spake unto him again the second time, What God hath cleansed, that call not thou common.

It is the blood of Jesus that cleanses us, that takes away all the iniquity and sin. He paid the price on the cross and took my place. We are no longer common but a chosen people a royal priesthood.

“But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.”
    ‭‭John‬ ‭1:12-13‬ ‭KJV‬‬

  20. “And they said, Cornelius the centurion, a just man, and one that feareth God, and of good report among all the nation of the Jews, was warned from God by an holy angel to send for thee into his house, and to hear words of thee.” Cornelius was a man of power and influence, yet he was wise enough to send for, listen too, and submit to the man of God (Jesus). Because of his (Cornelius) non prideful, obedient, and God fearing actions, he and others received the gift of the Holy Ghost (requirement; John 3:5). Dear God, forgive me of self, for my actions do affect more than self; “Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done”. “In God we trust”. What a mighty God we serve! Thank God for his word. God bless America, Jerusalem, and you all in Jesus name, Amen!

  21. “Then Peter began to speak: “I now realize how true it is that God does not show favoritism but accepts from every nation the one who fears him and does what is right.”
    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭10:34-35‬ ‭NIV‬‬

I am so thankful that God loves us all. we don’t have to be a specific color, ethnicity or gender. We all have the opportunity to build an everlasting, loving relationship with the king of kings. God is so good!

  22. Acts 10:44 While Peter yet spoke these words, the Holy Spirit fell on all them which heard the Word.

Holy Ghost is for everyone to receive, salvation was given to all of us.

  23. Throughout this chapter we have Cornelius hearing from an angel and Peter hearing from God. Neither one of these men douted or hesitated , they instantly obeyed. Not only did these men obey but when Cornelius told his men they obeyed with out question.

We shouldn’t question our Pastor in the things he does or asks of us, there is a reason for what he says. Just like we should obey and listen to God.

A wise woman told me that when we get closer to God it’s like stand really close to Him and He’s not going to yell at you but the closer you get the quieter His voice will be. And when we don’t hear His voice keep praying and seeking and moving forward.

    Listen, Seek, Obey, Do

  24. 28 And he said unto them, Ye know how that it is an unlawful thing for a man that is a Jew to keep company, or come unto one of another nation; but God hath shewed me that I should not call any man common or unclean.
What God has called clean we have no right to call unclean. God is the Judge, our job is too serve God with all our hearts ,soul, minds, and strength. We are called to seek the lost and help them find Salvation so they can be saved.

  25. 44 While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.

45 And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost.

Cornelius’s family and friends were ready to hear more of the word of God, had open hearts and minds and trusted God with the vision he gave. God has more for our families and friends and with prayer for open hearts and minds, a hunger and thirst for his righteousness, they shall be filled!

  26. Too often we are attracted only to those who are much like us. We don’t mind wretches, as long as they are our kind of wretches. In the early days of the church, the followers of Christ were converted Jews. Many of them believed God’s grace was only big enough for them… or wretches just like them. It was time for their hearts to be expanded. Through Peter’s encounter with Cornelius and his family and close friends, it becomes crystal clear that no one is beyond God’s grace, regardless of position or race. Jesus lives all people, the Holy Ghost can fill their lives, and they can be brought into relationship with our heavenly Father.

  27. “And they said, Cornelius the centurion, a just man, and one that feareth God, and of good report among all the nation of the Jews, was warned from God by an holy angel to send for thee into his house, and to hear words of thee. Then called he them in, and lodged them. And on the morrow Peter went away with them, and certain brethren from Joppa accompanied him. And the morrow after they entered into Caesarea. And Cornelius waited for them, and had called together his kinsmen and near friends.”
    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭10:22-24‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Several things strike me about this particular group of verses. Cornelius was warned by God to hear the words of Peter. Someone that he didn’t even know was to give him a warning from God.

The quick response of Peter and Cornelius. They are told, they go. No second guesses. No rethinking or getting other opinions, they just did it.

I sometimes skip over the fact that Cornelius invited all his friends over. They were quickly to share the new word with others.

  28. How would you like to be a prayer warrior like Cornelius, and have your personal prayers considered an memorial. Then have an Angel visit you, to advise you of what to do and how your prayers have been heard. Have you ever seen an Angel, or what does this say of our prayers, and what does this say about the body Christ Jesus. Why aren’t more things like these happening, or even what’s happening with the healing power that was in the old church. Yes, it’s happening but not at the same strength, frequency, or even the same level as back then. Maybe, these
miracles do happen but not as often as in the old days. But, it could be that it’s just not evident enough for myself. Hope, to see a change in this, because that kind of miracles, signs, and wonders, could start a wild fire.

    “Love/Faith can move mountains”…………………………………………………….

  29. Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons (Acts 10:34 KJV)

In truth I perceive that God shows no partiality: Peter’s short sermon to the Gentiles at Cornelius,This was the foundation of peters understanding that the gospel of Christ should now go forth to the Gentiles. This statement that goes completely against the fact that prevailing the Jewish thought at that time the Gentiles.

  30. 31. And said, Cornelius, thy prayer is heard, and thine alms are had in remembrance in the sight of God.

Sometimes it doesn’t seem like our prayers are being heard, but we have to keep believing and keep praying, knowing everything has to work in God’s timing.
