Acts 15

1 And certain men which came down from Judaea taught the brethren, and said, Except ye be circumcised after the manner of Moses, ye cannot be saved.

2 When therefore Paul and Barnabas had no small dissension and disputation with them, they determined that Paul and Barnabas, and certain other of them, should go up to Jerusalem unto the apostles and elders about this question.

3 And being brought on their way by the church, they passed through Phenice and Samaria, declaring the conversion of the Gentiles: and they caused great joy unto all the brethren.

4 And when they were come to Jerusalem, they were received of the church, and of the apostles and elders, and they declared all things that God had done with them.

5 But there rose up certain of the sect of the Pharisees which believed, saying, That it was needful to circumcise them, and to command them to keep the law of Moses.

6 And the apostles and elders came together for to consider of this matter.

7 And when there had been much disputing, Peter rose up, and said unto them, Men and brethren, ye know how that a good while ago God made choice among us, that the Gentiles by my mouth should hear the word of the gospel, and believe.

8 And God, which knoweth the hearts, bare them witness, giving them the Holy Ghost, even as he did unto us;

9 And put no difference between us and them, purifying their hearts by faith.

10 Now therefore why tempt ye God, to put a yoke upon the neck of the disciples, which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear?

11 But we believe that through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ we shall be saved, even as they.

12 Then all the multitude kept silence, and gave audience to Barnabas and Paul, declaring what miracles and wonders God had wrought among the Gentiles by them.

13 And after they had held their peace, James answered, saying, Men and brethren, hearken unto me:

14 Simeon hath declared how God at the first did visit the Gentiles, to take out of them a people for his name.

15 And to this agree the words of the prophets; as it is written,

16 After this I will return, and will build again the tabernacle of David, which is fallen down; and I will build again the ruins thereof, and I will set it up:

17 That the residue of men might seek after the Lord, and all the Gentiles, upon whom my name is called, saith the Lord, who doeth all these things.

18 Known unto God are all his works from the beginning of the world.

19 Wherefore my sentence is, that we trouble not them, which from among the Gentiles are turned to God:

20 But that we write unto them, that they abstain from pollutions of idols, and from fornication, and from things strangled, and from blood.

21 For Moses of old time hath in every city them that preach him, being read in the synagogues every sabbath day.

22 Then pleased it the apostles and elders with the whole church, to send chosen men of their own company to Antioch with Paul and Barnabas; namely, Judas surnamed Barsabas and Silas, chief men among the brethren:

23 And they wrote letters by them after this manner; The apostles and elders and brethren send greeting unto the brethren which are of the Gentiles in Antioch and Syria and Cilicia.

24 Forasmuch as we have heard, that certain which went out from us have troubled you with words, subverting your souls, saying, Ye must be circumcised, and keep the law: to whom we gave no such commandment:

25 It seemed good unto us, being assembled with one accord, to send chosen men unto you with our beloved Barnabas and Paul,

26 Men that have hazarded their lives for the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

27 We have sent therefore Judas and Silas, who shall also tell you the same things by mouth.

28 For it seemed good to the Holy Ghost, and to us, to lay upon you no greater burden than these necessary things;

29 That ye abstain from meats offered to idols, and from blood, and from things strangled, and from fornication: from which if ye keep yourselves, ye shall do well. Fare ye well.

30 So when they were dismissed, they came to Antioch: and when they had gathered the multitude together, they delivered the epistle:

31 Which when they had read, they rejoiced for the consolation.

32 And Judas and Silas, being prophets also themselves, exhorted the brethren with many words, and confirmed them.

33 And after they had tarried there a space, they were let go in peace from the brethren unto the apostles.

34 Notwithstanding it pleased Silas to abide there still.

35 Paul also and Barnabas continued in Antioch, teaching and preaching the word of the Lord, with many others also.

36 And some days after Paul said unto Barnabas, Let us go again and visit our brethren in every city where we have preached the word of the Lord, and see how they do.

37 And Barnabas determined to take with them John, whose surname was Mark.

38 But Paul thought not good to take him with them, who departed from them from Pamphylia, and went not with them to the work.

39 And the contention was so sharp between them, that they departed asunder one from the other: and so Barnabas took Mark, and sailed unto Cyprus;

40 And Paul chose Silas, and departed, being recommended by the brethren unto the grace of God.

41 And he went through Syria and Cilicia, confirming the churches.

  1. Grace everlasting-
    Thankyou Lord. You are a special God. Thank you for having mercy on me and helping me in times that are in distress. Why anyone would follow anything besides you I don’t know.
    I pray that I will always acknowledge you. People who don’t don’t go to heaven. This is what the Word teaches all through the Bible. I never really knew what idols meant in the Word, but to me it’s anything we do more than spending time with JESUS. I have to be careful of that. There’s so many things that we get caught up in and we have to remove them to make God happy.
    I want to always make Him happy. I love JESUS. What other thing is more important than spending time with ou r creator?

    Jesus you are the WAYMAKER!!!

  2. Acts 15:34
    Not with standing it pleased silas to abide there still .

    We must stand when we sing and worship and Stan for the word of God too
    Stand for Jesus Christ. Amen

  3. Verses 30-33 MSG “And so off they went to Antioch. On arrival, they gathered the church and read the letter. The people were greatly relieved and pleased. Judas and Silas, good preachers both of them, strengthened their new friends with many words of courage and hope. Then it was time to go home. They were sent off by their new friends with laughter and embraces all around to report back to those who had sent them.” We must encourage, help and work together (POFW) in order to be able to do the same with others. Lord you see every heart, every desire, every hope; help us Lord to encourage and strengthen every one of our new friends in Christ.

  4. You must abstain from eating food offered to idols, from consuming blood or the meat of strangled animals, and from sexual immorality. If you do this, you will do well. Farewell.” (‭Acts of the Apostles‬ ‭15‬:‭29‬ NLT)

    That ye abstain from meats offered to idols, and from blood, and from things strangled, and from fornication: from which if ye keep yourselves, ye shall do well. Fare ye well. (‭Acts‬ ‭15‬:‭29‬ KJV)

    Obedience to the Word of The Lord will always keep us on the right track!
    Obedience comes when there is a love and a reverence for The Lord.

    My son, keep my words, and lay up my commandments with thee. Keep my commandments, and live; and my law as the apple of thine eye. Bind them upon thy fingers, write them upon the table of thine heart. (‭Proverbs‬ ‭7‬:‭1-3‬ KJV)

  5. 8 And God, which knoweth the hearts, bare them witness, giving them the Holy Ghost, even as he did unto us;

    There is no difference between anyone who lives for God, wherever you are in any dispensation. We should not put extra yokes on our necks to live for God. The law or the love of God we should always consider the situation and take the road God gives us. God does not want us to have to suffer more than necessary, but we must be willing to give God all we have.

  6. 35 Paul also and Barnabas continued in Antioch, teaching and preaching the word of the Lord, with many others also.

    36 And some days after Paul said unto Barnabas, Let us go again and visit our brethren in every city where we have preached the word of the Lord, and see how they do.

    When a Separation is in order!!!

    37 And Barnabas determined to take with them John, whose surname was Mark.
    38 But Paul thought not good to take him with them, who departed from them from Pamphylia, and went not with them to the work.
    39 And the contention was so sharp between them, that they departed asunder one from the other: and so Barnabas took Mark, and sailed unto Cyprus;
    40 And Paul chose Silas, and departed, being recommended by the brethren unto the grace of God.
    41 And he went through Syria and Cilicia, confirming the churches.

    Sometimes to avoid confrontations or contentions between brothers and sisters, and to keep the peace that overpasses all understanding, we must take different directions. You may have to make the decision to allow them to grow on their own walk with God, and again some people need to hit their heads on the wall before the realize there is a door just around the corner. Resisting instructions should no occur in such small time, YES, there are many beautiful activities that will help you keep serving God at all times, but no one learns by someone else’s mistakes. Let them fly solo if it is not time yet pray to the Lord they will recognize it and return home. If they do well and pass their trials and test. Praise the Lord for He has change a Life style yet again. NEVER EVER GIVE UP PRAYING. If they fall, do not say I told you so, but stretch your arm reach for them, and give them a helping hand up. For NO MATTER WHAT THEY WILL ALWAYS BE YOUR BROTHERS AND YOUR SISTERS. LORD HELP US UNDERSTAND IF WE NEED TO SEPARATE, OPEN OUR HEARTS SO THERE IS NEVER CONTENTIONS BETWEEN US, AND KEEP US IN A UNITY OF MIND, HEART, SOUL, PRAYER, AND WORK. FOR YOUR KINGDOM IN JESUS NAME AMEN AND AMEN.

  7. iLove to eat More Word

    There is a movement out there in Christianity that attempts to put believers into bondage by teaching them they must keep the law in order to be saved. When I talk to these folks they insist that the Old Testament laws and ordinances must be kept. Most of the time when I take them to this passage of scripture, it doesn’t do any good even though it is right there. The truth of the matter is, even though the word is a Light, as long as people have their eyes closed it is hard to see.

  8. 14. Simeon hath declared how God at the first did visit the Gentiles, to take out of them a people for his name.

    He took out of them a people for His Name, so the people of His Name should be separate from them; not look like them or act like them…if we seem to be just like them, how can we reach them?

    2 Corinthians 6:17 KJV
    Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you,

  9. vs-5
    Believers who had belonged to this religious party still practiced rigorous observance to the law as christians. Their zeal for the law led them to suppose that all true believers must adopt their pious but legalistic lifestyle.

  10. 10-11 “So why are you now trying to out-god God, loading these new believers down with rules that crushed our ancestors and crushed us, too? Don’t we believe that we are saved because the Master Jesus amazingly and out of sheer generosity moved to save us just as he did those from beyond our nation? So what are we arguing about?”

  11. UNITY = SACRIFICE = DISCIPLES

    Revival and the LORD’s harvest begins with UNITY. An assembly being with one accord cannot be stopped!

    UNITY creates a a platform for SACRIFICE. When UNITY prevails, SACRIFICE is couragously faced through great FAITH. UNITY and SACRIFICE is what makes or breaks a DISCIPLE. An individual that will not walk in UNITY cannot be a disciple.

    Luke 14:33 So likewise, whosoever he be of you that forsaketh not all that he hath, he cannot be my disciple.

    UNITY always means that someone will not have their will, but will SACRIFICE their will for a greater will.

    These are the men that were sent to deliver the message. They didn’t host a public speaking contest, or a popularity contest. Judas and Silas were chosen to deliver the message because of their UNITY and SACRIFICE.

  12. Acts 15: 7-11 (NLT)
    At the meeting, after a long discussion, Peter stood and addressed them as follows: “Brothers, you all know that God chose me from among you some time ago to preach to the Gentiles so that they could hear the Good News and believe. God knows people’s hearts, and he confirmed that he accepts Gentiles by giving them the Holy Spirit, just as he did to us. He made no distinction between us and them, for he cleansed their hearts through faith. So why are you now challenging God by burdening the Gentile believers with a yoke that neither we nor our ancestors were able to bear? We believe that we are all saved the same way, by the undeserving grace of the Lord Jesus.

    Eph. 2:5 & 8
    5: Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together in Christ, (by grace are ye saved.)
    8: For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God.

    So thankful for God’s Grace!

  13. 8 God knows people’s hearts, and he confirmed that he accepts Gentiles by giving them the Holy Spirit, just as he did to us.
    9 He made no distinction between us and them, for he cleansed their hearts through faith.
    10 So why are you now challenging God by burdening the Gentile believers with a yoke that neither we nor our ancestors were able to bear?
    11 We believe that we are all saved the same way, by the undeserved grace of the Lord Jesus.” (NLT)

    God is no respecter of persons, He looks at our hearts and knows us, knows our every desire and need. Praise God when a new soul receives the Holy Ghost because we are not the ones to judge and decide who deserves salvation.

  14. 36 And some days after Paul said unto Barnabas, Let us go again and visit our brethren in every city where we have preached the word of the Lord, and see how they do.

    As a church, it’s not enough just to go and search for people to come to church to get them baptized and receive the Holy Ghost and not check up on them again once they do. When we get new babies in the kingdom, we need to nurture them and take care of them and help them out in their spiritual growth, otherwise they will be lost to the world again and our mission becomes void. So let’s keep up with our people in the church and help them out!

  15. 8 And God, which knoweth the hearts, bare them witness, giving them the Holy Ghost, even as he did unto us;

    9 And put no difference between us and them, purifying their hearts by faith.

    Let’s not be quick to judge someone, the person you are passing by on the street might just be the one that is going to spark endtime Revival in our city. It is up to the Lord who receives the HG and who does not, so let’s give everyone the opportunity.

  16. 5 But there rose up certain of the sect of the Pharisees which believed, saying, That it was needful to circumcise them, and to command them to keep the law of Moses.

    8 And God, which knoweth the hearts, bare them witness, giving them the Holy Ghost, even as he did unto us;

    9 And put no difference between us and them, purifying their hearts by faith.

    Even when there is a dispute, when the church, elders & ministers come together, there can be a resolution made that agrees with scriptures and stays in the flow of the Holy Ghost. The gifts of the Spirit are to profit us all if we will stay in unity and allow the Lord to guide us through each controversy.

  17. The Gentiles were encouraged when they received instruction. This encourages us to react the same way every time we receive instruction or read and apply the Law (Word) to our lives.

     Application- Personalize Psalm 1:1-3 & Joshua 1:8

    “Blessed is Sonya Morgan that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But her delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth she meditate day and night. And Sonya shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth her fruit in her season; her leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever she doeth shall prosper.”
    ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭1:1-3‬ ‭KJV‬‬ (personalized)

    “This book of the law shall not depart out of Sonya Morgan’s mouth; but she shalt meditate therein day and night, that she mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then she shalt have good success.”
    ‭‭Joshua‬ ‭1:8‬ ‭KJV‬‬ (personalized)

    “So when they were dismissed, they came to Antioch: and when they had gathered the multitude together, they delivered the epistle: Which when they had read, they rejoiced for the consolation.”

    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭15:30-31‬ ‭KJV‬‬

  18. 12 Then all the multitude kept silence, and gave audience to Barnabas and Paul, declaring what miracles and wonders God had wrought among the Gentiles by them
    .
    Even when people have alot to say the truth is always louder

  19. 8 And God, which knoweth the hearts, bare them witness, giving them the Holy Ghost, even as he did unto us;

    9 And put no difference between us and them, purifying their hearts by faith.

    God is no respecter of persons, it doesn’t matter what your past is, where you came from, or who your parents are, God can still fill you with the gift of the Holy Ghost!!

  20. Acts 15:17 (KJV Strong’s)
    17 That the residue of men might seek after the Lord, and all the Gentiles, upon whom my name is called, saith the Lord, who doeth all these things.

    The love of God is extraordinary. He chooses to rebuild again the tabernacle of David, for the purpose of personal fellowship, for the residue of men and the Gentiles.

    He still goes through all that he does even though there is only a remnant. Jesus is coming soon and mankind will face the consequences of their decisions.

    Just like the Lord saved 8 souls in the flood, if there were only 8 in the Endtime he would still save them.

  21. 4 And when they were come to Jerusalem, they were received of the church, and of the apostles and elders, and they declared all things that God had done with them.

    The best thing you can do is tell others what God has done and is doing on your lives.🎤🎧🎹you don’t know like I know what The Lord has done for me 🎹🎤🎧 Jesus is the reason why I am here, He is the one that makes me feel FREE and DELIVERED!!! He has given me life and peace!!! Jesus has literally changed my life upside down:) By his stripes I am free and their is nothing that is going to stop me!! The devil is under my feet!!!!

  22. 24 Forasmuch as we have heard, that certain which went out from us have troubled you with words, subverting your souls, saying, Ye must be circumcised, and keep the law: to whom we gave no such commandment:

    It is necessary we speak what God speaks. When we force our own agendas or convictions upon others we risk their souls. Let God do the work and let us lead by example.

  23. “And certain men which came down from Judaea taught the brethren, and said, Except ye be circumcised after the manner of Moses, ye cannot be saved”. We see the word of Jesus (God) doesn’t give their names, however as we read on we see it does give Paul’s and Barnabas’s. One should be cautious of anyone that causes division or confusion, and gives their opinion (Acts 15:24). Dear God, let me not be deceived; “Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done”. “In God we trust”. What a mighty God we serve! Thank God for his word. God bless America, Jerusalem, and you all in Jesus name, Amen!

  24. 15 And to this agree the words of the prophets; as it is written,

    Make sure your decisions are based on the word of God. The Word tells us to lean not unto our own understanding but to acknowledge him in all ways. If we have a despising to make the best thing would be to seek God and get into the Word. The Word will guide your life.

  25. ““It is my judgment, therefore, that we should not make it difficult for the Gentiles who are turning to God. Instead we should write to them, telling them to abstain from food polluted by idols, from sexual immorality, from the meat of strangled animals and from blood. For the law of Moses has been preached in every city from the earliest times and is read in the synagogues on every Sabbath.””
    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭15:19-21‬ ‭NIV‬‬

    It would not be wise to judge people by the way they come to Christ. We should love everyone that walks into our church with loving arms. God will reveal to them in due time whatever needs to be removed or added to their lifestyle. We are not the judge, He is. Let’s be kind and understanding to everyone, let’s be the Pentecostals of Fort Worth! 🙂

  26. Peter addressed the religiosity between Gentile & Jewish beliefs of the circumcision and salvation. He expressed that it is God who knows our hearts, by giving us the Holy Ghost to put away all differences and purifying hearts in faith. We don’t need another religious yoke to heavy to carry on our necks.

    8 And God, which knoweth the hearts, bare them witness, giving them the Holy Ghost, even as he did unto us;

    “Believe through GRACE of the Lord Jesus Christ we shall be saved.”………

  27. “Everyone listened quietly as Barnabas and Paul told about the miraculous signs and wonders God had done through them among the Gentiles.”
    ‭‭Acts of the Apostles‬ ‭15:12‬ ‭NLT‬‬

    When God wants to be heard there is noting stoping Him, even if He’s moving through someone and using them.

  28. 8 And God, which knoweth the hearts, bare them witness, giving them the Holy Ghost, even as he did unto us;

  29. 8 And God, which knoweth the hearts, bare them witness, giving them the Holy Ghost, even as he did unto us;

    9 And put no difference between us and them, purifying their hearts by faith.

    10 Now therefore why tempt ye God, to put a yoke upon the neck of the disciples, which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear?
    God know what we can take, lean on him ,he knows what is best!

    To God we are all the same, even the very people of God in the Old Testement are now equals to us. We have inherited the promise of eternal life with him. There no greater feeling then to be in His presence. Just to know we have access to his throne of grace, and do not nothing but to ask believing and that will unlock the hand of God. We are the chosen generation, even us born wrong, in sin and without any hope, but we have all with Him.
