Proverbs 2

1 My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee;

2 So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding;

3 Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding;

4 If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures;

5 Then shalt thou understand the fear of the Lord, and find the knowledge of God.

6 For the Lord giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.

7 He layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous: he is a buckler to them that walk uprightly.

8 He keepeth the paths of judgment, and preserveth the way of his saints.

9 Then shalt thou understand righteousness, and judgment, and equity; yea, every good path.

10 When wisdom entereth into thine heart, and knowledge is pleasant unto thy soul;

11 Discretion shall preserve thee, understanding shall keep thee:

12 To deliver thee from the way of the evil man, from the man that speaketh froward things;

13 Who leave the paths of uprightness, to walk in the ways of darkness;

14 Who rejoice to do evil, and delight in the frowardness of the wicked;

15 Whose ways are crooked, and they froward in their paths:

16 To deliver thee from the strange woman, even from the stranger which flattereth with her words;

17 Which forsaketh the guide of her youth, and forgetteth the covenant of her God.

18 For her house inclineth unto death, and her paths unto the dead.

19 None that go unto her return again, neither take they hold of the paths of life.

20 That thou mayest walk in the way of good men, and keep the paths of the righteous.

21 For the upright shall dwell in the land, and the perfect shall remain in it.

22 But the wicked shall be cut off from the earth, and the transgressors shall be rooted out of it.

  1. Verses 1-5 AMP “My son, if you will receive my words And treasure my commandments within you, So that your ear is attentive to [skillful and godly] wisdom, And apply your heart to understanding [seeking it conscientiously and striving for it eagerly]; Yes, if you cry out for insight,
    And lift up your voice for understanding; If you seek skillful and godly wisdom as you would silver And search for her as you would hidden treasures; Then you will understand the [reverent] fear of the Lord [that is, worshiping Him and regarding Him as truly awesome] And discover the knowledge of God.” The caption for this chapter says “The Pursuit of Wisdom Brings Security”, This reminded of the that song that says “Wrap me in Your Arms”…….thank you Lord for Your love and Your mercy.

  2. When wisdom entereth into thine heart, and knowledge is pleasant unto thy soul; Discretion shall preserve thee, understanding shall keep thee: (‭Proverbs‬ ‭2‬:‭10-11‬ KJV)

    It’ll keep you from many mistakes(sin) that are committed. Your eyes are open to the deceitf and error of this world that people find pleasurable for a moment in time as they lose their soul.

    Nothing like being secured in the arms of a Living GOD! Why search elsewhere?

    For thou hast been a shelter for me, and a strong tower from the enemy. (‭Psalms‬ ‭61‬:‭3‬ KJV)

  3. 1 My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee;

    2 So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding;

    3 Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding;

    4 If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures;

    5 Then shalt thou understand the fear of the Lord, and find the knowledge of God.

    Such great instructions come at this time, incline thine ear to these instructions. Many hear, but never receive what God has in store for them, because they never hear all the instructions. We must seek truth and knowledge and find the understanding of God! Search, seek, and look for God, God is not hard to find but we must make a diligent search for him. Have we been looking for him as we should? God is not hiding wisdom will come if we listen to all his word as God speaks to us!

  4. 1 My son, if you will receive my words and treasure my commandments within you,
    2 So that your ear is attentive to [skillful and godly] wisdom, and apply your heart to understanding [seeking it conscientiously and striving for it eagerly]; (AMP)

    We are to treasure the commandments of God and sincerely follow them as we seek after Him. Just knowing them but blowing them off will do is no good, we are to daily apply His word to our lives.

  5. 3 Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding;

    4 If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures;

    There is so much value in knowledge and understanding, but it is only given to those who seek after it. If you don’t see the value in something, you won’t do what it takes to get it. This is why the scripture uses silver and hidden treasures; they aren’t found just lying around for the casual passer-by to pick up. They require work, but reward the one willing to do it.

  6. THE QUEST FOR MORE OF JESUS

    4 If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures;
    5 Then shalt thou understand the fear of the Lord, and find the knowledge of God.

    An undying hunger for GOD is the key to success in our Spiritual journey. Too often believers get caught up in seeking the silver (perishable) money of this world that their focus is turned from the Kingdom of JESUS to the kingdom of self.

    We are wise to follow the council of the wise Solomon and seek UNDERSTANDING of GOD and HIS Kingdom more than this world and its perishing riches. Seeking GOD before jobs, resources and investments. We are foolish to put any of these commitments or activities before our commitments to the Kingdom of GOD.

    We are in the last days and we do not have time to procrastinate or put off giving GOD our all.

    MORE of YOU JESUS!

  7. 10 When wisdom entereth into thine heart, and knowledge is pleasant unto thy soul;

    11 Discretion shall preserve thee, understanding shall keep thee:

    12 To deliver thee from the way of the evil man, from the man that speaketh froward things;

    13 Who leave the paths of uprightness, to walk in the ways of darkness;

    We take scriptures out of context sometimes to mean what we want them to mean. We could say that the word says discretion will preserve me, understanding will keep me. But in reality these two thing will only happen “WHEN wisdom entereth into thine heart, and knowledge is pleasant unto thy soul” We need to love wisdom and seek after knowledge just like this proverb says

  8. 8 He keepeth the paths of judgment, and preserveth the way of his saints.
    9 Then shalt thou understand righteousness, and judgment, and equity; yea, every good path.
    10 When wisdom entereth into thine heart, and knowledge is pleasant unto thy soul;
    11 Discretion shall preserve thee, understanding shall keep thee:

    When we keep his commandments and do what we know is right. There are blessings that come with obedience. Thank you Jesus. For sound Doctrine.

  9. 1 My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee;

    2 So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding;

    There are so many benefits from keeping God’s words and seeking after knowledge and understanding. It will keep you on the right path, it will keep you safe, it will deliver you….the key to it is to receive it. Many times the word is preached or given to us and we choose not to listen. I pray that I can receive your words Lord and that I may keep your commandments at all times for in the time of trouble your word, You will be with me.

  10. iLove to eat More Word

    1 My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee;

    2 So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding;

    3 Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding;

    4 If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures;

    The Lord makes it personal with us. He calls us his son. That should make those of us who grew up without fathers feel especially special that the Lord would adopt us into the Mighty Kingdom of God. Praise the Lord, Abba Father!

  11. 21 For the upright shall dwell in the land, and the perfect shall remain in it.

    22 But the wicked shall be cut off from the earth, and the transgressors shall be rooted out of it.

    The blessings are with God – but doing our things our ways result in losing them. Seek his wisdom and his ways.

  12. The person who is wise will find the knowledge of God because God is the source of wisdom God provides needed perspective so that we will understand what is right and just and fair every good path.

  13. Proverbs 2:2-6
    2) So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding;
    3) Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding;
    4) If thou seekest her as silver, and searched for her as for hid treasure;
    5) Then shalt thou understand the fear of the Lord, and find the knowledge of God.
    6) For the Lord giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.

    Colossians 2:2-3 says, ” That their hearts might be comforted, being knit together in love, and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the acknowledgement of the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ. In whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.”

    Getting wisdom, knowledge , and understanding is like a treasure hunt. The only way we are going to find this treasure is to find God for in Him are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. So how do we find God? By doing what Jeremiah 29:12-13 says, Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you. And ye shall seek me, and find me when ye shall search for me with all your heart.”

    MORE Seeking and Searching for God so that we can get wisdom, knowledge and understanding.

  14. 6 For the Lord giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.

    Thank-you Jesus for giving unto us wisdom. God help us to have ears to hear you knowledge and understanding.

    But with all our getting get understanding.

  15. 3 Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding;

    Seeking knowledge goes hand in hand with seeking after God. Because in seeking after God we gotta do it with a earnest heart and we got be passionate about our hunger for God. We can’t have a half hearted love for God, we gotta love God with all our heart. And when we seek after God with all our heart, God will give us knowledge as well in return, so keep seeking after God, there are MANY benefits to being a child of God!

  16. Proverbs 2:1 (KJV Strong’s)
    1 My son, if thou wilt receive my words,
    and hide my commandments with thee;

    Proverbs 2:5 (KJV Strong’s)
    5 Then shalt thou understand the fear of the Lord,
    and find the knowledge of God.

    It takes work to understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God. The word is telling us how to do this but it’s up to us to do it. We must choose to receive his word into our spirits and allow him to do what he will.

    Many spend their whole lives searching for greater knowledge. They read books, attend seminars, and listen to people speak. Some even get involved in rituals and magic to find greater knowledge.

    Hide the word in our hearts and God will give us greater understanding and knowledge. He will lead us and guide us.

  17. 6 For the Lord giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.

    God gives wisdom and we can find Knowledge and understanding in His Word.

  18. 11 Discretion shall preserve thee, understanding shall keep thee
    We must all pray for and seek God for discretion in our lives. .. it’s the ability to make the right decisions and do the right things when it counts. .. and when no one else is watching.

  19. 1-5 Good friend, take to heart what I’m telling you;
    collect my counsels and guard them with your life.
    Tune your ears to the world of Wisdom;
    set your heart on a life of Understanding.
    That’s right—if you make Insight your priority,
    and won’t take no for an answer,
    Searching for it like a prospector panning for gold,
    like an adventurer on a treasure hunt,
    Believe me, before you know it Fear-of-God will be yours;
    you’ll have come upon the Knowledge of God.

    How appropriate the day before FRIEND DAY! If we can get our friends to have open hearts and open minds, the spirit of the Lord will bring new life, renewed life, healing and joy to the lives of all our friends tomorrow. That’s my prayer!!

  20. 1 My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee;

    2 So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding;

    3 Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding;

    4 If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures;

    5 Then shalt thou understand the fear of the Lord, and find the knowledge of God.

    6 For the Lord giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.

    There are a lot of contingencies in the word of God. We see here that the seeker is rewarded with knowledge. The hungry heart gets fed. The one that studies received understanding. All we could ever imagine and more is available in God. All we have to do is seek it. He is a rewarder of those that seek him.

  21. Verse 11 discretion

    The word מְזִמָּה (mézimmah, “discretion”) is the ability to know the best course of action for achieving one’s goal. It is knowledge and understanding with a purpose. This kind of knowledge enables one to make the right choices that will protect him from blunders and their consequences (cf. NLT “wise planning”; CEV “sound judgment”).

  22. “For the upright will live in the land, and the blameless will remain in it; but the wicked will be cut off from the land, and the unfaithful will be torn from it.”
    ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭2:21-22‬ ‭NIV‬‬

    Don’t fret and worry over things other people do. We don’t have enough time in our lives to stress about foolish things. Focus on the important things- following Gods word, keeping his commandments, seeking his face in prayer and study. God will supply all your needs. Stay faithful and true.

  23. “If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures”. The word of God (Jesus) is full and powerful, one must simply want. Dear God, open my eyes and ears that I may find; “Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done”. “In God we trust”. What a mighty God we serve! Thank God for his word. God bless America, Jerusalem, and you all in Jesus name, Amen!

  24. “But the wicked will be removed from the land, and the treacherous will be uprooted.”
    ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭2:22‬ ‭NLT

    God continue to work on me!!! I don’t ever want to come close to heading down the path towards being uprooted

  25. The fear of the Lord, is the key to knowing/knowledge of God, so it will not only preserve you it will give you a greater understanding of him. God preserves his saints by the power of his word. So, everything he speaks out must come to past, and this will give us great wisdom and knowledge if we persue it in his word “Bible”, and following his Son Jesus Christ, “Word made flesh”. Church we are so blessed, to have such a God who gave everything for us. We need to do same for him, and start being that Son he called us to be. So, catch wisdom…….and I believe wisdom is the “Holy Ghost”, we must chase after him.

    10 When wisdom entereth into thine heart, and knowledge is pleasant unto thy soul;

    11 Discretion shall preserve thee, understanding shall keep thee:

    “Stand not afar off, Oh Lord, I pray in Jesus Christ, name Amen & Amen!”

  26. Gods saints

    V 8 pious ones (NET) saints (KJV)

    The Kethib is the singular noun + 3rd person masculine singular suffix חֲסִידוֹ (khasido) “his pious one.” The Qere reads the plural noun + 3rd person masculine singular suffix חֲסִידָיו (khasidav) “his pious ones.” The LXX εὐλαβουμένων αὐτόν (eujlaboumenōn aujton) supports the Qere reading.
    tn The noun חֶסֶד (khesed, “the pious”) describes those who show “covenantal faithful love” or “loyal love” to God and his people. The description of the righteous by this term indicates their active participation in the covenant, for which God has promised his protection.

  27. 6 For the Lord giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.

    Thank God for the wisdom He has placed on our Man of God to lead and direct us!

  28. 12 To deliver thee from the way of the evil man, from the man that speaketh froward things; (Proverbs 2:12KJV)

    We as Christians should have the knowledge of the word of God to save us from the wicked ways of men that are in this world. They will try to lure us from God to go in the direction of sinful mistakes from men outside the worldly world whose words maintain wickedness and evil. (if God is for us, who can be against us !! Romans 8:31KJV). We the children of God shouldn’t be foolish of the way this world has be come it is a characterized by perverse things, by lies and distortion, by twisting and deception, and by darkness ( I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me !! Philippians 4:13KJV) !!! In Jesus Name Amen!!!

  29. 12 To deliver thee from the way of the evil man, from the man that speaketh froward things;

    Amen Jesus deliver me from evil and from every person that would like to harm my family. Help me love how you love Jesus, walk how you walk, see how you see, be holy for you are holy. Jesus you are the truth and the way and before you there is no God!!! I will worship you Jesus always!!!

  30. 16 Wisdom will save you also from the adulterous woman, from the wayward woman with her seductive words (NIV)

    Hosea says “my people are destroyed from lack of knowledge.” (Hos 4:6) and it’s true. An aldulterous women spiritually would be someone who belongs to the Lord but turns away from Him to sin. After turning from God proceeds to entice others to turn too with her seductive nature. If you have knowledge of the Gospel then you have the weapons you need to combat the schemes of the adulterous. Their is a call to war in the Spirit, the enemy isn’t going to let up so don’t give him any ground to stand on like influence and temptation.

  31. 1 My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee;

    2 So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding;

    3 Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding;

    4 If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures;

    5 Then shalt thou understand the fear of the Lord, and find the knowledge of God.

    6 For the Lord giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.

  32. We must keep pressing forward on the path of righteousness.
    “Follow the steps of good men instead, and stay on the paths of the righteous. For only the godly will live in the land, and those with integrity will remain in it.”

    ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭2:20-21‬ ‭NLT‬‬

  33. “Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding;

    Then shalt thou understand the fear of the Lord, and find the knowledge of God.”
    ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭2:3, 5‬ ‭KJV

    We must seek after the lord and his understanding.

  34. Proverbs 2: 2
    The heart was the seat of the intellect and of life itself in Hebrew thought. Not only must the ear be Inclined to wisdom, but the heart ( inclusive of the mind in Hebrew thought; prov. 4:20-27)
