Proverbs 16

1 The preparations of the heart in man, and the answer of the tongue, is from the Lord.

2 All the ways of a man are clean in his own eyes; but the Lord weigheth the spirits.

3 Commit thy works unto the Lord, and thy thoughts shall be established.

4 The Lord hath made all things for himself: yea, even the wicked for the day of evil.

5 Every one that is proud in heart is an abomination to the Lord: though hand join in hand, he shall not be unpunished.

6 By mercy and truth iniquity is purged: and by the fear of the Lord men depart from evil.

7 When a man’s ways please the Lord, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him.

8 Better is a little with righteousness than great revenues without right.

9 A man’s heart deviseth his way: but the Lord directeth his steps.

10 A divine sentence is in the lips of the king: his mouth transgresseth not in judgment.

11 A just weight and balance are the Lord’s: all the weights of the bag are his work.

12 It is an abomination to kings to commit wickedness: for the throne is established by righteousness.

13 Righteous lips are the delight of kings; and they love him that speaketh right.

14 The wrath of a king is as messengers of death: but a wise man will pacify it.

15 In the light of the king’s countenance is life; and his favour is as a cloud of the latter rain.

16 How much better is it to get wisdom than gold! and to get understanding rather to be chosen than silver!

17 The highway of the upright is to depart from evil: he that keepeth his way preserveth his soul.

18 Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.

19 Better it is to be of an humble spirit with the lowly, than to divide the spoil with the proud.

20 He that handleth a matter wisely shall find good: and whoso trusteth in the Lord, happy is he.

21 The wise in heart shall be called prudent: and the sweetness of the lips increaseth learning.

22 Understanding is a wellspring of life unto him that hath it: but the instruction of fools is folly.

23 The heart of the wise teacheth his mouth, and addeth learning to his lips.

24 Pleasant words are as an honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones.

25 There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.

26 He that laboureth laboureth for himself; for his mouth craveth it of him.

27 An ungodly man diggeth up evil: and in his lips there is as a burning fire.

28 A froward man soweth strife: and a whisperer separateth chief friends.

29 A violent man enticeth his neighbour, and leadeth him into the way that is not good.

30 He shutteth his eyes to devise froward things: moving his lips he bringeth evil to pass.

31 The hoary head is a crown of glory, if it be found in the way of righteousness.

32 He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty; and he that ruleth his spirit than he that taketh a city.

33 The lot is cast into the lap; but the whole disposing thereof is of the Lord.

  1. 7. When people’s lives please the LORD, even their enemies are at peace with them. NLT

iPray that I live a life pleasing to the LORD because I know that if people are at peace with me, I have a better opportunity to lead them to Him.

  2. 2. All the ways of a man are clean in his own eyes; but the Lord weigheth the spirits.

We must make sure that we are clean in our own souls. A man is known for his ways yes. But there are a many” good people” out there that are lost and need Jesus. Let’s be Jesus and let his light shine.

  3. PEACEMAKER

7 When a man’s ways please the Lord, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him.

We must never underestimate the influence of the Favor (Grace) of GOD. We are so undeserving of his kindness and mercy. But, he thought I was worth saving.

As we make our life focue on pleasing our LORD JESUS through obedience, submission and commission we operate our lives in the Kingdom of GOD. We have witnessed repeatedly how GOD has delivered HIS own people from peril and how JESUS even placed the disciples before great men.

Living for GOD includes, allowing GOD to be LORD over every aspect and in every arena of our lives. Granting JESUS room to make PEACE through us and we too can be a PEACEMAKER by the GRACE of GOD.

    iRepent
    iPraise

  4. 1 The preparations of the heart in man, and the answer of the tongue, is from the Lord.

If we will prepare our heart through prayer and the Word of God, the answer on our tongue will be from the Lord. He speaks to us daily through His word giving us wisdom, knowledge and direction. It is up to us to seek His counsel and then heed what we read and hear the Spirit of God speak to us.

  5. v21 The eisr in heart shall be called prudent: and the sweetness of the lips increaseth learning.

Everyone has the power to act any way he or she wishes, to make any choices that he or she desires, but the person knows that ONLY right choices result in righteous conquences.
To fear the LORD IS WISDOM .

  6. 32 He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty; and he that ruleth his spirit than he that taketh a city.
Wow what a powerful scripture … Its so important to strive to keep the right spirit and attitude even when its hard. Its our duty as the people of God to win our city for Christ but just as important we must rule our spirits and attitudes so we can show them the love of Jesus Christ.

  7. 9 We can make our plans, but the Lord determines our steps. (NLT)

When things don’t always go the way you intended or exactly as planned just know that God is the one determining your steps. It all happens the way it happens for a reason and all we must do is trust God because He will never lead us wrong.

  8. 7 When a man’s ways please the Lord, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him.

A man who is pleasing the Lord is living a peaceable life. He is doing unto others as he would have them do unto him.

It’s hard to have a war with some one if you truly love them.

  9. Proverbs 16:23 (KJV Strong’s)
23 The heart of the wise teacheth his mouth,
and addeth learning to his lips.

Learning never ends. The Lord created us to constantly grow. First physically and then mentally. We stop growing physically but we continue mentally. Some say that we are like a tree. When we stole growing we start dying. Wisdom teaches us to always continue searching for knowledge in God.

  10. iLove to eat More Word
Proverbs 16:24 KJV Pleasant words are as an honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones.

    H5278
    נֹעַם
    nô‛am
    no’-am
From H5276; agreeableness, that is, delight, suitableness, splendor or grace: – beauty, pleasant (-ness).

Words are very powerful. They bring life and also death.

    Health מַרְפֵּא
    marpê’
    mar-pay’
From H7495; properly curative, that is, literally (concretely) a medicine, or (abstractly) a cure; figuratively (concretely) deliverance, or (abstractly) placidity: – ([in-]) cure (-able), healing (-lth), remedy, sound, wholesome

They are so powerful in fact, that many are either healed or delivered by them. I’m convinced that many are sick and weak simply by their words. Let’s use our words as health and healing instead of death, negativity, and destruction.

  11. Proverbs 16:2-3 (AMP)
    2) All the ways of a man are clean and innocent in his own eyes (and he may see nothing wrong with his actions), But the Lord weighs and examines the motives and intents (of the heart and knows the truth).
    3) Commit your works to the Lord (submit and trust them to him), And your plans will succeed (if you respond to His will and guidance).

James 4:13-15 says, “Go to now, ye that say, To day or to morrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain: Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor, that appeared for a little time, and then vanisheth away. For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that.”

We all make plans in our lives and don’t see anything wrong with them. But what we need to ask ask is “if our plans are in the Lord’s will for us.” We need to submit to and trust in God and His will for our lives and everything will turn out fine.

  12. 2 All the ways of a man are clean in his own eyes; but the Lord weigheth the spirits.

3 Commit thy works unto the Lord, and thy thoughts shall be established.

4 The Lord hath made all things for himself: yea, even the wicked for the day of evil.

  13. “The lot is cast into the lap; but the whole disposing thereof is of the Lord.” One that will truly seek God (Jesus) with prayer, fasting, and seeking counsel from the man of God is wise. Whereas one that simply does what they want or goes against the man of God, is very (truly) unwise. Dear God, forgive me of my past and help me to hear and obey today, for my actions could affect more than self; “Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done”. “In GOD we trust”. “One Nation under GOD, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all”. What a mighty GOD we serve! Thank GOD for his word. GOD bless America, Jerusalem, and you all in JESUS name, Amen!

  14. One of my favorite scriptures in the bible.

16 How much better is it to get wisdom than gold! and to get understanding rather to be chosen than silver!

You can give a poor man a million dollars today and tomorrow he will be poor. Wisdom can produce gold and with it keep it.

  15. When a man’s ways please the Lord, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him.

The Lord Jesus is the Prince of peace. He is the one that gives peace and the peace that not only our nation but all nations need. If we want to have peace as individuals and as people of a nation we must please the Lord.

  16. 3 Commit thy works unto the Lord, and thy thoughts shall be established.

In my own life I have had problems trying to juggle so many different tasks, and jobs and working at the church, and trying to give myself a better job for my life. But one thing that God has taught me is that if I take care of his work than he will take care of mine.

When you take care of God’s work, you leave your career in the hands of God and he can work wonders in your life. He hasn’t given me the job I’m looking for YET. But I know he will, I can see it in the future and I’m believing for it in Jesus name. He has opened so many doors in my life already, whether it be big or small. In the meantime I will make sure I will help his kingdom but telling people about Jesus.

  17. So, we must commit our works unto the Lord, and this in itself will establish our thoughts. So, if you have trouble with your thought life. Study the Word, commit your works and wait, watch, and see what comes to pass………………..

3 Commit thy works unto the Lord, and thy thoughts shall be established.
    ____________________________________________________________
Righteousness outweighs great riches, and is pleasant obviously to the Lord. “Be righteous!”…..”When money doesn’t matter!”……………………

8 Better is a little with righteousness than great revenues without right.
    ____________________________________________________________
So, we must overcome our emotions when we get angry. But, be slow to anger and rule your spirit. You will be better than the mighty people………….

32 He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty; and he that ruleth his spirit than he that taketh a city.

    “Rule your Spirit”……………………………………………………….

  18. 5 Every one that is proud in heart is an abomination to the Lord:…

I pray we never forget it isn’t “us” but Him through us!

  19. 31 Gray hair is a crown of glory; it is gained in a righteous life.
Wisdom is often associated with gray hair. gray hair = long life = wisdom to survive the trials of life =? “survival of the fittest” ? I feel like survival of the righteous.

  20. 2 All the ways of a man are clean in his own eyes; but the Lord weigheth the spirits.

Manhind is so busy looking on the outside they forget to look on the inside and discern the spirit. The Holy Ghost allows us to discern spirits for what they are instead of what they seem. Taking it a step further we could say this is what I see of myself and what God sees in me. We have the ability of blinding ourselves as to what is wrong in ourselves and in our actions. Part of the cure for that lies in the thought in the second clause -’But the Lord weigheth the spirits.’ But what is it that God weighs? ‘The spirits.’ We too often content ourselves with looking at our ways; God looks at ourselves. He takes the inner man into account, examines the actions by motives, and so very often differs from our judgment of ourselves and of one another. I don’t want to be clean in my own eyes, but weighed and cleansed under your blood Jesus.

  21. Preparations !!!! 1. THE preparations of the heart in man , and the answer of the tongue, is from the LORD. 2. All the ways of a man are clean in his own eyes; but the LORD weigheth the spirits. 3. Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established. Ps. 37 : 5; Luke 12 : 22 4. The LORD hath made all things for himself: yea, even the wicked for the day of evil. Jesus you are the lifter of my head !!!!!

  22. Humans deceive themselves rather easily and so appear righteous in their own eyes; but the proverb says that God evaluates motives and so he alone can determine if the person’s ways are innocent.
