Proverbs 19

1 Better is the poor that walketh in his integrity, than he that is perverse in his lips, and is a fool.

2 Also, that the soul be without knowledge, it is not good; and he that hasteth with his feet sinneth.

3 The foolishness of man perverteth his way: and his heart fretteth against the Lord.

4 Wealth maketh many friends; but the poor is separated from his neighbour.

5 A false witness shall not be unpunished, and he that speaketh lies shall not escape.

6 Many will intreat the favour of the prince: and every man is a friend to him that giveth gifts.

7 All the brethren of the poor do hate him: how much more do his friends go far from him? he pursueth them with words, yet they are wanting to him.

8 He that getteth wisdom loveth his own soul: he that keepeth understanding shall find good.

9 A false witness shall not be unpunished, and he that speaketh lies shall perish.

10 Delight is not seemly for a fool; much less for a servant to have rule over princes.

11 The discretion of a man deferreth his anger; and it is his glory to pass over a transgression.

12 The king’s wrath is as the roaring of a lion; but his favour is as dew upon the grass.

13 A foolish son is the calamity of his father: and the contentions of a wife are a continual dropping.

14 House and riches are the inheritance of fathers: and a prudent wife is from the Lord.

15 Slothfulness casteth into a deep sleep; and an idle soul shall suffer hunger.

16 He that keepeth the commandment keepeth his own soul; but he that despiseth his ways shall die.

17 He that hath pity upon the poor lendeth unto the Lord; and that which he hath given will he pay him again.

18 Chasten thy son while there is hope, and let not thy soul spare for his crying.

19 A man of great wrath shall suffer punishment: for if thou deliver him, yet thou must do it again.

20 Hear counsel, and receive instruction, that thou mayest be wise in thy latter end.

21 There are many devices in a man’s heart; nevertheless the counsel of the Lord, that shall stand.

22 The desire of a man is his kindness: and a poor man is better than a liar.

23 The fear of the Lord tendeth to life: and he that hath it shall abide satisfied; he shall not be visited with evil.

24 A slothful man hideth his hand in his bosom, and will not so much as bring it to his mouth again.

25 Smite a scorner, and the simple will beware: and reprove one that hath understanding, and he will understand knowledge.

26 He that wasteth his father, and chaseth away his mother, is a son that causeth shame, and bringeth reproach.

27 Cease, my son, to hear the instruction that causeth to err from the words of knowledge.

28 An ungodly witness scorneth judgment: and the mouth of the wicked devoureth iniquity.

29 Judgments are prepared for scorners, and stripes for the back of fools.

  1. Verse 8 MSG “Grow a wise heart—you’ll do yourself a favor; keep a clear head—you’ll find a good life.” Growing in Jesus…..always wanting MORE of Him. As verse 20 MSG says “Take good counsel and accept correction
—that’s the way to live wisely and well.” Same verse AMP “Listen to counsel, receive instruction, and accept correction, That you may be wise in the time to come.” Listen, receive and accept!

  2. Walk in Integrity

Proverbs 19:1 Better is the poor that walketh in his integrity, than he that is perverse in his lips, and is a fool.

v.10 Delight is not seemly for a fool; much less for a servant to have rule over princes.
Two unfitting situations: a fool in luxury and a slave in power.

  3. 20. Heed counsel, act on instruction, and you will become wise later in life. The Voice.

All the counsel and instruction in the world doesn’t help us any if we don’t receive it and act on it.
    Ask…Accept…Act

  4. iLove to eat More Word

Proverbs 19:11 NLT Sensible people control their temper; they earn respect by overlooking wrongs.

Wow, what a great verse to start the day off with. There are going to be folks that wrong us every day. The opportunity is always there to be offended. Some think that you have to earn respect, but the way the world earns respect is opposite of the way the Children of God earn respect. The Word of God clearly states that sensible people control their temper and earn respect by overlooking wrongs. Wow, when someone does us wrong, lets look past it and move forward.

  5. 21 There are many devices in a man’s heart; nevertheless the counsel of the Lord, that shall stand.

22 The desire of a man is his kindness: and a poor man is better than a liar.

A man’s heart is a peculiar device, many times the word of God speaks of a mans heart and most often is speaking of the center of life. This center of life is our mind which is always in need of counsel. Wise counsel will make one the wiser and all his decisions will be right. We should seek the counsel of the Lord like we seek riches, we will work hard and do much planning to get more money. We should take this approach to finding counsel that is wise, which will only come from God.

  6. 20 Get all the advice and instruction you can, so you will be wise the rest of your life. (NLT)

We would be making a wise decision to heed the instruction given to us. Don’t become angry and reject the advice but rather realize the love the institution is being given in.

  7. iWork

15 Slothfulness casteth into a deep sleep; and an idle soul shall suffer hunger.
16 He that keepeth the commandment keepeth his own soul; but he that despiseth his ways shall die.

Several years ago, the LORD gave us revelation about the iCraze. From this concept the LORD birthed in my spirit the iPray, iWork, iGive, iReap theme. At the time of revelation I thought we would be buying and renovating a former automobile dealership. However GOD brought us there to reveal this principal to us.

W O R K is the key to success. An individual that is not willing to WORK has not much hope in their future. Slothfulness or laziness is what causes a deep sleep in growth, passion, excellence and life in general.

We protect our soul by keeping GOD’s word. This is WORK in our present society. With the antichrist spirits that are rampant in the earth and the temptation to sin that is pressing in our world, we must keep ourselves in the WORD of GOD faithfully, EVERYDAY.

    iRepent
    iPraise
    iPray
    iWork
    iGive
    iReap

  8. 3: People ruin their lives by their own stupidity,
so why does God always get blamed?

Too many times we want to play the blame game. Blaming God, the advisory, or a brother/sister. This isn’t a new “get out of jail free” card, it started with Adam and Eve blaming each other.

We will make mistakes, some by ignorance or not knowing, and others because of our own stupidity. Yet we have to be mature enough to take responsibility of our actions and mistakes and learn from them.

  9. 20 Hear counsel, and receive instruction, that thou mayest be wise in thy latter end.

21 There are many devices in a man’s heart; nevertheless the counsel of the Lord, that shall stand.

We were born in sin and shapen in inquiry, therefore sin is our nature. However, through repentance, baptism and infilling of HIS Spirit in us, we can become a new creature. Those devices that were born in us, can be reshapened and made into His characteristics and likeness if we will apply His Word to our hearts daily and keep the disciplines necessary for daily living and walking in the Spirit.

  10. 20 Hear counsel, and receive instruction, that thou mayest be wise in thy latter end.
21 There are many devices in a man’s heart; nevertheless the counsel of the Lord, that shall stand.

We have two ears and one mouth. We must learn to hear instruction.

  11. 20 Hear counsel, and receive instruction, that thou mayest be wise in thy latter end.

It would be wise of us to listen to the instruction of those with authority over us. For God has sent them to counsel and to instruct us, so that we would walk on the right path.

  12. 17 He that hath pity upon the poor lendeth unto the Lord; and that which he hath given will he pay him again.

We should be givers in ever aspect of the word, givers to the Lord, givers to others, givers to the poor

  13. “To acquire wisdom is to love yourself; people who cherish understanding will prosper.”
    ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭19:8‬ ‭NLT‬‬

This scripture was very interesting to me and how it could be brought into more aspects. The first part of the scripture says, “To acquire wisdom is to love yourself…” Now when I read that it came across as loving yourself is smart and will open the door to more wisdom and better understandings….then I read it again and got by learning and gaining more wisdom and learning in all aspects of life weather it be education, life, about yourself or anything you are showing that you love yourself because you want to educate and teach yourself to overcome more boundaries. Very interesting and amazing to get to interpretations of the scripture in one sitting. Thank You Jesus for showing me this, hallelujah God your amazing!!!

  14. Proverbs 19:27
Cease to hear instruction, my son,
and you will stray from the words of knowledge.

In a society where their is an attitude of ” who are you to be telling me that I am wrong” people automatically tend to get angry and upset when they are corrected even if they know that that they are wrong, why because they let their emotions, and pride get in their way and that causes them to close their eyes and ears to learning and growing in any situations of life. That is another reason that we need to have the Holy Ghost every. The Holy Ghost will give you a hunger to grow and instead of letting your emotions get in the way it will give you sense to learn from those mistakes and corrections.

  15. Fear of the Lord leads to life, bringing security and protection from harm.
    Proverbs 19:23 NLT

Men seek security through many things like riches, savings, insurance, they but protection from companies, they try to make their lives comfortable and better, but it is only God that holds all lives in His hands. The fear, honor and respect of the Lord, is the only way we can have and find life. He is the Way the Truth and the Life. The word of God clearly tells us to seek first the kingdom of God and all other thinhs, our needs, shall be added to us. Nothing else can garantee the Life that the Creator of the heavens and the earth can give. He is our strong tower, our provuder, our protector. He has come that we may have life more abundantly in Christ Jesus.

  16. Reproach !!!! 26. He that wasteth his father, and chaseth away his mother, is a son that causeth shame, and bringeth reproach. 27. Cease, my son, to hear the instruction that causeth to err from the words of knowledge. I LOVE YOU JESUS !!!!

  17. There are many devices in a man’s heart; nevertheless the counsel of the Lord, that shall stand.

There are a lot of devices we use but nothing is as secure as where or how the Lord will lead you.

  18. 12 The king’s wrath is as the roaring of a lion; but his favour is as dew upon the grass.

The King is coming! Jesus Christ will soon establish his throne and rule on the city of David over the whole earth. The scripture says there are two ways that the King can approach us. If we break his law then he will approach us as a roaring lion with wrath a fury. He hates the sin but loves the sinner.

If we are obedient t his word and live for him daily then he will bestow upon us favor like dew. This will cover us, saturate us, and be with us everywhere that we go. We choose how we will see the king by how we approach the king.

  19. 15 Slothfulness casteth into a deep sleep; and an idle soul shall suffer hunger.

I find in my own life, the more I commit myself to working, whether it be for the church, for my jobs, or even for just improving myself in studying the word, and trying to increase my own knowledge, the more accomplished I feel and the better off in spirit I become than when I waste my time in lazy endeavers.

That doesn’t mean we should never relax, we all need time to take a breather and slow down our busy schedules. But we also need to make sure that we don’t slow ourselves down and that we keep at it! Because God will reward us in the end for it.

  20. Children who mistreat their father or chase away their mother are an embarrassment and a public disgrace. If you stop listening to instruction, my child, you will turn your back on knowledge. (‭Proverbs‬ ‭19‬:‭26-27‬ NLT)

  21. Proverbs 19:14
Houses and riches are inheritance from fathers, But a prudent wife is from the Lord.

    THE PRUDENT WIFE
A prudent wife is cautious and possess good judgment and discretion. She is a good manager of her home.
She is a woman of practical wisdom.

  22. Proverbs 19:11
“The discretion (the quality of being discreet; a being careful about what one does or says) of a man deferreth (postpone;delay) his anger; and it is his glory to pass over (overlook) a transgression.”

The discretion of a man deferreth his anger…
James 1:19, “Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let ever man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath.”
And it is his glory to pass over a transgression…
Ephesians 4:32, “And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.”

When we are offended by someone, we would be wise to be slow to speak, slow to get angry, and be forgiving.

  23. “Hear counsel, and receive instruction, that thou mayest be wise in thy latter end.” To hear is too be silent. One that is absent or always talking cannot hear counsel, therefore there is also no instruction received. Dear God, help me to hear, clearly, that I may receive instruction and wisdom; “Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done”. “In GOD we trust”. “One Nation under GOD, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all”. What a mighty GOD we serve! Thank GOD for his word. GOD bless America, Jerusalem, and you all in JESUS name, Amen!

  24. A Lion’s Roar

11 The discretion of a man deferreth his anger; and it is his glory to pass over a transgression.

12 The king’s wrath is as the roaring of a lion; but his favour is as dew upon the grass.

A lion roars for several reasons: to reunite members of the pride, to declare territory, and to display strength and aggression during conflict. A roar is used to protect, defend, and overcome. It does not come simply as a display of anger but as a calculated part of caring for and defending the lion’s “kingdom.” A ruler/leader likewise does well to guard themselves against merely “roaring” in anger, making rash decisions based on emotions. Rather the roaring of a righteous ruler has purpose and his wrath falls in defense of the kingdom through mercy and truth. It can be easy to lash out at someone who makes a mistake when it’s in our power to do so, but it gives God glory when we direct our anger according to His emotions and “roar” in defense of His kingdom, not avenging our own emotions and personal agendas. Unbridled anger did not achieve forgiveness of sins at Calvary, and neither can it build a heavenly kingdom here today.

    Proverbs 20:28 AMP
Loyalty and mercy, truth and faithfulness, protect the king, And he upholds his throne by lovingkindness.

  25. Hear counsel, and receive instruction, that thou mayest be wise in thy latter end.

21 There are many devices in a man’s heart; nevertheless the counsel of the Lord, that shall stand
We need to make sure that we keep the right attitude when given councel. We need not to be too proud and think we know it all and cannot accept advice, just be wise and know that not every advice is the right device.

  26. 21 There are many devices in a man’s heart; nevertheless the counsel of the Lord, that shall stand.
This has a double fold meaning. We have many plans for our lives but only the one subjected to the will of God will be fruitful. Likewise, proverbs warns repeatedly that the wicked are scheming against God and the righteous people. God’s will will stand and take hold, not the schemes of the wicked.

  27. He that keepeth the commandment keepeth his own soul; but he that despiseth his ways shall die.

Keeping the Word in my heart everywhere you go not just at church, the Word are the commandments God has given us so we can have eternal life. When you keep your commandments you keep your soul because you are doing what God has asked us to do. Don’t let the enemy steal that because the devil wants to see you die spiritually. Becareful what you say because the devil is always attacking, but MY GOD is BIGGER ABD GREATER!! “I can do all things thru Christ who strengthens me” HALLELUJAH!!!

  28. 11 The discretion of a man deferreth his anger; and it is his glory to pass over a transgression.

transgression and offense go hand and hand. “For offenses must come” (Matt 18:7); and “Great peace have they which love thy law: and nothing shall offend them.” (Ps 119:165). It is wise for a person to use patience with those who offend and transgress against him and overlook it. Instead of lashing out in anger the wise show their humbleness in controling their temper. In doing so they earn respect by others by forgiving wrong doing. We get to be Jesus to others so they can see the grace, mercy and forgivness of Jesus through us. People will offend and transgress on us by we have the opportunity to shine for him and reflect his glory.

  29. 20 Hear counsel, and receive instruction, that thou mayest be wise in thy latter end.

This is to all my young friends, listen to your parents. Age doesn’t make you wise, listening to counsel in your youth will make you wise in your latter age.

  30. Being poor is alright, as long as you keep your integrity and walk not with peverse lips. Let’s not pervert the way and have our hearts fret against the Lord. He loves us and cares for us. When you gain great wealth all kinds of friends from no where show up to be your friend. But, when you are poor! Where are they now! But, I’ll continue to do God’s word and be friendly. If, I ever become rich I hope I have real true friends not gold diggers or piggy backers. In the verse listed below is how you should love yourself appropriately. “Get Wisdom”………………………..

8 He that getteth wisdom loveth his own soul: he that keepeth understanding shall fInd good.

    “Love you & be blessed”………………………………………………

  31. “Wealth maketh many friends; but the poor is separated from his neighbour.”
    ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭19:4‬ ‭KJV‬‬

This principle is also taught in the parable of the son that took his inheritance and wen way. While he was gone he spent his money on lavish living and his friends. When the money was gone, the friends were too.

  32. v8 Heb “heart.” Most English versions translate as “wisdom,” but cf. NAB “intelligence.” This refers to a mind that works (e.g., Prov 7:7; 9:4).

  33. v8 He that getteth wisdom loveth his own soul: he that keepeth understanding shall find good.

LORD help us to always walk in your righteous steps according to YOUR wisdom.
