Proverbs 28

1 The wicked flee when no man pursueth: but the righteous are bold as a lion.

2 For the transgression of a land many are the princes thereof: but by a man of understanding and knowledge the state thereof shall be prolonged.

3 A poor man that oppresseth the poor is like a sweeping rain which leaveth no food.

4 They that forsake the law praise the wicked: but such as keep the law contend with them.

5 Evil men understand not judgment: but they that seek the Lord understand all things.

6 Better is the poor that walketh in his uprightness, than he that is perverse in his ways, though he be rich.

7 Whoso keepeth the law is a wise son: but he that is a companion of riotous men shameth his father.

8 He that by usury and unjust gain increaseth his substance, he shall gather it for him that will pity the poor.

9 He that turneth away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer shall be abomination.

10 Whoso causeth the righteous to go astray in an evil way, he shall fall himself into his own pit: but the upright shall have good things in possession.

11 The rich man is wise in his own conceit; but the poor that hath understanding searcheth him out.

12 When righteous men do rejoice, there is great glory: but when the wicked rise, a man is hidden.

13 He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.

14 Happy is the man that feareth alway: but he that hardeneth his heart shall fall into mischief.

15 As a roaring lion, and a ranging bear; so is a wicked ruler over the poor people.

16 The prince that wanteth understanding is also a great oppressor: but he that hateth covetousness shall prolong his days.

17 A man that doeth violence to the blood of any person shall flee to the pit; let no man stay him.

18 Whoso walketh uprightly shall be saved: but he that is perverse in his ways shall fall at once.

19 He that tilleth his land shall have plenty of bread: but he that followeth after vain persons shall have poverty enough.

20 A faithful man shall abound with blessings: but he that maketh haste to be rich shall not be innocent.

21 To have respect of persons is not good: for for a piece of bread that man will transgress.

22 He that hasteth to be rich hath an evil eye, and considereth not that poverty shall come upon him.

23 He that rebuketh a man afterwards shall find more favour than he that flattereth with the tongue.

24 Whoso robbeth his father or his mother, and saith, It is no transgression; the same is the companion of a destroyer.

25 He that is of a proud heart stirreth up strife: but he that putteth his trust in the Lord shall be made fat.

26 He that trusteth in his own heart is a fool: but whoso walketh wisely, he shall be delivered.

27 He that giveth unto the poor shall not lack: but he that hideth his eyes shall have many a curse.

28 When the wicked rise, men hide themselves: but when they perish, the righteous increase.

  1. Proverbs 28:1
The wicked flee when no man purseth but the righteous are bold as a lion.

Jesus is the lion and the lamb and he made the wicked flee for he is king of kings More Jesus. Amen

  2. Proverbs 28:1 The wicked flee when no man pursueth : but the righteous are bold as a lion.

A clear conscience is prerequisite for confident living and spiritual boldness.

Psalm 52:5 There were they in great fear, where no fear was: for God hath scattered the bones of him that encampeth against thee: thou hast put them to shame, because God hath despised them.

  3. Verse 14 AMP “Blessed and favored by God is the man who fears [sin and its consequence] at all times, But he who hardens his heart [and is determined to sin] will fall into disaster.” We must heed the warnings and follow instruction. JESUS today YOU will SAVE me.

  4. 14. Happy is the one who always fears the Lord, but the person who hardens his heart to God falls into misfortune. The Voice

    Psalm 111:10 KJV
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments : his praise endureth for ever.

Fear of the Lord brings both happiness and wisdom!

Proverbs 28:2 NLT When there is moral rot within a nation, its government topples easily. But wise and knowledgeable leaders bring stability.
This scripture of course this scripture is talking about national governments that crumble easily under moral failure, but lets use it to talk about individual leaders. To be a successful Leader we must be wise and knowledgeable in order to bring stability.

  6. 13 He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.

Confess your faults one to another that ye may be healed.

  7. God has no use for the prayers of the people who won’t listen to him. (‭Proverbs‬ ‭28‬:‭9‬ MSG)

  8. 6 Better is the poor that walketh in his uprightness, than he that is perverse in his ways, though he be rich.
11 The rich man is wise in his own conceit; but the poor that hath understanding searcheth him out.
20 A faithful man shall abound with blessings: but he that maketh haste to be rich shall not be innocent.
22 He that hasteth to be rich hath an evil eye, and considereth not that poverty shall come upon him.

I don’t think it’s a coincidence there are so many verses dealing with rich people or the pursuit of riches. Most of us are familiar with 1 Timothy 6:10, here is the Message version: But if it’s only money these leaders are after, they’ll self-destruct in no time. Lust for money brings trouble and nothing but trouble. Going down that path, some lose their footing in the faith completely and live to regret it bitterly ever after. It is not money itself that is evil, rather the pursuit that is the issue.

Where do we put our trust? Is our trust in money or the God who owns the cattle on a thousand hills? Sometimes it takes some hard lessons before we can understand from whence our help cometh. I have learned the hard way and I prefer easier lessons now. Consider the Message version again; 6-8 A devout life does bring wealth, but it’s the rich simplicity of being yourself before God. Since we entered the world penniless and will leave it penniless, if we have bread on the table and shoes on our feet, that’s enough.

I have heard never be satisfied with your relationship with God. This is true for the personal relationship. Not so much for gain and increase. Remember Mathew 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. If our focus is on the Lord, He will supply our needs. Philippians 4:19 But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

  9. “To reject the law is to praise the wicked; to obey the law is to fight them.”
    ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭28:4‬ ‭NLT‬‬

I love the Law of the Lord. I want to apply the truth to every area of my life.

“But they delight in the law of the LORD, meditating on it day and night. They are like trees planted along the riverbank, bearing fruit each season. Their leaves never wither, and they prosper in all they do.”
    ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭1:2-3‬ ‭NLT‬‬

  10. 25 Greed causes fighting; trusting the Lord leads to prosperity.
26 Those who trust their own insight are foolish, but anyone who walks in wisdom is safe. (NLT)

We must trust the Lord and know we will always be taken care of. Despite how we think our lives should go, God is in control and we should allow and trust Him to be the author of our lives.

  11. 14 A tenderhearted person lives a blessed life;
a hardhearted person lives a hard life. (MSG)

Tenderhearted – easily moved to love; compassionate

Tenderhearted people have an easy connection with people as they work with their hearts then their minds. However, they are easily crushed and hurt through sorrow and pain. A good tenderhearted leader learns to be compassionate and still standing during a crisis.

    REAL Love
A tenderhearted leader is loving to each and every person. They are able to connect heart to heart. They are able to feel their joy and be able to rejoice with them. Yet, at the same time a tenderhearted is REAL. Don’t try to deceive them and FAKE it, they will know.

    Romans 12:9-10 (MSG)
9-10 Love from the center of who you are; don’t fake it. Run for dear life from evil; hold on for dear life to good. Be good friends who love deeply; practice playing second fiddle.

  12. 9 God detests the prayers of a person who ignores the law.

Be obedient to the Lord and he will answer your prayers. If your not obedient why should the Lord answer your prayers. Just like parents, if a child obeys, he or she gets rewarded, if not then no reward.

  13. Proverbs 28:13
“He that covered his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsake the them shall have mercy.”

    1 John 1:9
“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

Thank You JESUS for your Mercy today!

  14. 10 Whoso causeth the righteous to go astray in an evil way, he shall fall himself into his own pit: but the upright shall have good things in possession.

We must careful who we are critical of and judgmental of. It has been witnessed numerous times people are judgmental and critical of someone else and very soon, those doing the judging face a similar situation and fall as well.

Keep our eyes on the prize, and off people. Let God be God and handle situations, and keep our mouths focused on whatsoever things are good, right, just and of good report!!

  15. 26 He that trusteth in his own heart is a fool: but whoso walketh wisely, he shall be delivered.

It’s good to be careful of those you trust and even better to examine if we can trust ourselves. Here we see a person who “trusts in his own heart”, is confident in his own wisdom (1Cor 3:18); he will perish in his foolishness. The person who “walketh wisely” literally walks in wisdom which begins with the “fear of the Lord” (Prv 9:10), “shall be delivered” from the trouble into which the “fool” is brought by his self-confidence.

  16. 19 He that tilleth his land shall have plenty of bread: but he that followeth after vain persons shall have poverty enough.
20 A faithful man shall abound with blessings: but he that maketh haste to be rich shall not be innocent.

    The blessings of working.

When I was a child I did chores. Now some believe that it’s ok not to pay your children to do chores. But my parents wanted to teach me how to pay my tithe and offerings at a young age. So they gave me an allowance. And in that I found the blessings of working. I payed for my 3 game systems,” not at the same time,” with the money that I earned. I got to bless the kingdom of God through my hard work as well and for most. Hard work pays off. In more ways than one.

    Be a worker.
    Be church
    Be a blessing

  17. MORE RESPECT = MORE JOY

14 Happy is the man that feareth alway: but he that hardeneth his heart shall fall into mischief.

Some people spend their entire lifetime looking for joy and happiness. Here is the answer right here in front of us. “In EVERYTHING we do, at ALL TIMES fear the LORD.”

Sounds simple until we add in the aspect of life and its challenges and people and their wills and decisions. Respect is the FRUIT of TRUST.

Proverbs 9:10 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.

FEARETH – to fear, tremble, revere, dread, be in awe or dread

    Same word as FEAR in:

Psalm 27:1 [A Psalm of David.] The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

From my perspective, how it works.

As we FEAR (Respect) the LORD he in return TRUSTS us with HIS presence, power and knowledge. The 3 attributes that JESUS lends us on TRUST are what makes us HAPPY and JOYFUL to be in HIS presence and serving in HIS Kingom.

    iRepent
    iPraise
    iRespect
    iRejoice
    iPray
    iWork
    iGive
    iReap

  18. 25 He that is of a proud heart stirreth up strife: but he that putteth his trust in the Lord shall be made fat.

26 He that trusteth in his own heart is a fool: but whoso walketh wisely, he shall be delivered.

“Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding;”
    ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭3:5‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

  19. Don’t know why things are going g the way they’re going? SEEK GOD

Having trouble understanding why you’re in the place you’re in? SEEK GOD

Feeling lost or confused? SEEK GOD

THEY THAT SEEK THE LORD SHALL UNDERSTAND ALL THINGS!

5 Evil men understand not judgment: but they that seek the Lord understand all things.

  20. 5 Evil men understand not judgment: but they that seek the Lord understand all things.

Hallelujah!!!! Seeking in The Lord gives us wisdom because of His Word. Pastor says the way we are going to grow is by praying reading His Word and having faith. Always trusting Him in every trial and situation. If you are going thru something or running away from something that God has called you to be, I believe that God is not going to give us nothing we can’t handle!!! Jesus gives us life and peace and I shall seek Him always because I can’t be nothing without Him!!! Thank you for your Wisdom Jesus!!! More of you!!!!

  21. He who covereth his sin shall not prosper, but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall find mercy.

Is you sin and try to hide it, you don’t gain anything. Confessing and turning away from that sin will grant you mercy from God. Thank you Jesus!

  22. 27 He that giveth unto the poor shall not lack: but he that hideth his eyes shall have many a curse.

It is more blessed to give than to receive. We are here to be examples of the gospel of Jesus. He gave us all we need and then more. We may see the need why not be used of God to bless others.

  23. Proverbs 28:9 (KJV Strong’s)
9 He that turneth away his ear from hearing the law,
even his prayer shall be abomination.

People who sin receive blessings from God because of his love, grace, and mercy. However they must never take that for granted. God does not condone sin and never will. He gives an amount of time for repentance. If the one sinning chooses to not change but still pray and live for God he is in danger of becoming a reprobate.

God will bless us but blessings do not indicate approval of actions. Regardless of whether we are receiving blessings or not God expects us to continue to follow his word and live in obedience. Honesty, and integrity win out in the end.

  24. 1 The wicked flee when no man pursueth: but the righteous are bold as a lion.

In the day of adversity you can always tell whose side someone’s on by their reaction. Wicked men will flee but the righteous will stand bold because they have nothing to hide. Their integrity is in tact and their life can speak for themselves… Just ask Paul. 😆

  25. 1 The wicked flee when no man pursueth: but the righteous are bold as a lion.

When you’re on the Lord’s side, you don’t have anything to worry about. God is able to help us through every situation. Through God we are overcomers and can help others overcome as well.

  26. “For the transgression of a land many are the princes thereof: but by a man of understanding and knowledge the state thereof shall be prolonged.” One should pray to Jesus (God) for one’s leaders. Dear God, bless us with Jesus fearing and Jesus believing leaders; “Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done”. “In GOD we trust”. “One Nation under GOD, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all”. What a mighty GOD we serve! Thank GOD for his word. GOD bless America, Jerusalem, and you all in JESUS name, Amen!

  27. 1 The wicked flee when no man pursueth: but the righteous are bold as a lion.

It’s probably a phrase used with relative frequency, to be bold as a lion. So the thing that pops into my mind when I read this verse… what does it really mean to be as bold as a lion?

Well the first part of this sentence we should examine is what does being bold or boldness mean? The first definition of Bold in the dictionary is: To be fearless or daring.

So it’s telling us that we should live without having fear in our lives, so now the question is, how do lions live without fear?

They are of course the top of the food chain in Africa, no other predator can challenge them of that. Reason being? Yes it is partially because they are the biggest predator… but the main reason is because they aren’t scared of anything.

Lions are the only predators known to go after rhinos, hippos, giraffes… and yes even elephants, the largest land animal on Earth. There is a pride of lions in Africa that specializes in taking down elephants, (mostly smaller ones). And with elephants being the biggest animal they could possibly go after, it means they put no limitations on themselves, they aren’t afraid of anything.

And it’s by no means because they have the advantage, elephants outweigh them by 24 times, and are stronger and have tougher skin to penetrate. But they don’t let that stop them, they don’t fear rule over their lives, they see what’s been given to them and they take it.

So lesson being, don’t let fear rule your life, God tells us to take the blessings and promises he has given us and not to be afraid. When you do that, the impossible can become possible, because when you truly trust God, you become bold as a lion and nothing can stand in your way!

  28. 19 He that tilleth his land shall have plenty of bread: but he that followeth after vain persons shall have poverty enough.

22 He that hasteth to be rich hath an evil eye, and considereth not that poverty shall come upon him.

Work creates resources and sustenance. God blesses the work we do. Shortcuts, get rich quick schemes do not get blessed. When you work for what you have then you cherish it. You spend your money more wisely, you take care of your possessions. If your money is easy come then it’s easy go. You take it for granted. We don’t cherish so much the things we don’t work for. The fruit of our labor isn’t cheap, it was paid for in time, talent, sweat, and occasionally blood and tears.

  29. 20 A faithful man shall abound with blessings: but he that maketh haste to be rich shall not be innocent.
It is important to be careful with how we save and spend the money that God gives us. We must be faithful in little so He can make us a ruler of much

  30. When a country is rebellious it has many princes,
but by someone who is discerning and knowledgeable order is maintained.

People cannot be efficient under the leadership of many. One voice should be the heaviest in ones life rather than the whispers of many.

  31. “You can’t whitewash your sins and get by with it; you find mercy by admitting and leaving them.”
    ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭28:13‬ ‭MSG‬‬

There are too many “make me feel good” sermons out there. You can’t expect God to be pleased with us if we are constantly looking for ways to mask our sins. Whatever doesn’t bring you closer to God is taking you away from Him. Leave the sins and attachments at the altar.

  32. 13 He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.

We can’t hide our sin from God but if we confess them to him, he is just and faithful to forgive. His mercy endureth forever!

  33. Proverbs 28:13 Whoever conceals their sins does not prosper, but the one who confesses and renounces them finds mercey. Blessed tis the one who always trembles before God, but whoever hardens their heart falls into trouble.

  34. “Evil men do not understand justice, But those who seek the LORD understand all.”(Proverbs‬ ‭28:5‬ ‭NKJV‬‬)

A worthless person, a wicked man, goes about with crooked speech, winks with his eyes, signals with his feet, points with his finger, and also with a perverted heart devises evil, continually sowing discord; therefore everything goes down hill in a calamity will come upon him suddenly; in a moment he will be broken beyond healing, true Christian believers who do Gods will, and seeking him in prayer, prayer can never go wrong with whatever you are going through knowing what morally right is every circumstance, have a right judgment in all things!! In Jesus Name Amen!!

  35. Don’t cry about gaining a little weight, but be thankful of God’s increase . Trust him, it seems some of us trust a lot more than others.

25 He that is of a proud heart stirreth up strife: but he that putteth his trust in the Lord shall be made fat.
    —————————————————————
So, you see the importance of giving. Don’t hide those eyes “GIVE”.

27 He that giveth unto the poor shall not lack: but he that hideth his eyes shall have many a curse.

“Give and shall be given unto you”……..”Good Measure”……….

Luke 6:38 Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.
