Genesis 10

1 Now these are the generations of the sons of Noah, Shem, Ham, and Japheth: and unto them were sons born after the flood.

2 The sons of Japheth; Gomer, and Magog, and Madai, and Javan, and Tubal, and Meshech, and Tiras.

3 And the sons of Gomer; Ashkenaz, and Riphath, and Togarmah.

4 And the sons of Javan; Elishah, and Tarshish, Kittim, and Dodanim.

5 By these were the isles of the Gentiles divided in their lands; every one after his tongue, after their families, in their nations.

6 And the sons of Ham; Cush, and Mizraim, and Phut, and Canaan.

7 And the sons of Cush; Seba, and Havilah, and Sabtah, and Raamah, and Sabtechah: and the sons of Raamah; Sheba, and Dedan.

8 And Cush begat Nimrod: he began to be a mighty one in the earth.

9 He was a mighty hunter before the Lord: wherefore it is said, Even as Nimrod the mighty hunter before the Lord.

10 And the beginning of his kingdom was Babel, and Erech, and Accad, and Calneh, in the land of Shinar.

11 Out of that land went forth Asshur, and builded Nineveh, and the city Rehoboth, and Calah,

12 And Resen between Nineveh and Calah: the same is a great city.

13 And Mizraim begat Ludim, and Anamim, and Lehabim, and Naphtuhim,

14 And Pathrusim, and Casluhim, (out of whom came Philistim,) and Caphtorim.

15 And Canaan begat Sidon his first born, and Heth,

16 And the Jebusite, and the Amorite, and the Girgasite,

17 And the Hivite, and the Arkite, and the Sinite,

18 And the Arvadite, and the Zemarite, and the Hamathite: and afterward were the families of the Canaanites spread abroad.

19 And the border of the Canaanites was from Sidon, as thou comest to Gerar, unto Gaza; as thou goest, unto Sodom, and Gomorrah, and Admah, and Zeboim, even unto Lasha.

20 These are the sons of Ham, after their families, after their tongues, in their countries, and in their nations.

21 Unto Shem also, the father of all the children of Eber, the brother of Japheth the elder, even to him were children born.

22 The children of Shem; Elam, and Asshur, and Arphaxad, and Lud, and Aram.

23 And the children of Aram; Uz, and Hul, and Gether, and Mash.

24 And Arphaxad begat Salah; and Salah begat Eber.

25 And unto Eber were born two sons: the name of one was Peleg; for in his days was the earth divided; and his brother’s name was Joktan.

26 And Joktan begat Almodad, and Sheleph, and Hazarmaveth, and Jerah,

27 And Hadoram, and Uzal, and Diklah,

28 And Obal, and Abimael, and Sheba,

29 And Ophir, and Havilah, and Jobab: all these were the sons of Joktan.

30 And their dwelling was from Mesha, as thou goest unto Sephar a mount of the east.

31 These are the sons of Shem, after their families, after their tongues, in their lands, after their nations.

32 These are the families of the sons of Noah, after their generations, in their nations: and by these were the nations divided in the earth after the flood.

Gen. 10:25 “Eber had two sons. The first was named Peleg (which means “division”), for during his lifetime the people of the world were divided into different language groups. His brother’s name was Joktan.”

Wow, as we can see in this passage of scripture, this young man was named “division” because he was born when the language of the earth changed. We know this event as the Tower of Babel. That is pretty amazing that one event in the world effected everyone else even to the point to where this young man was named division.

We must always speak the same thing and bring unity.

  2. A generational curse!

These are the sons of Ham, after their families, after their tongues, in their countries, and in their nations. (‭Genesis‬ ‭10‬:‭20‬ KJV)

And the sons of Noah, that went forth of the ark, were Shem, and Ham, and Japheth: and Ham is the father of Canaan.

And Ham, the father of Canaan, saw the nakedness of his father, and told his two brethren without.

And Noah awoke from his wine, and knew what his younger son had done unto him. And he said, Cursed be Canaan; a servant of servants shall he be unto his brethren. (‭Genesis‬ ‭9‬:‭18, 22, 24-25‬ KJV)

Just to think that your bloodline can be cursed! Your sin doesn’t stop with you. Many people think that curses can not go from generation to generation, but, it can, and it will. To many take and play with sin to lightly not considering what is before them. We have read and that the word of God says that the wages of sin is death. And we know it to be true. People are living for the ‘now’ not considering whom it shall affect in the long run.

Obedience to the word of the LORD is truly missing in today’s world.and I know as for me it’s a daily prayer for my entire family, generations past and future, that our family will come to the Lord and be saved.

Peter said, “Change your life. Turn to God and be baptized, each of you, in the name of Jesus Christ, so your sins are forgiven. Receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. The promise is targeted to you and your children, but also to all who are far away—whomever, in fact, our Master God invites.”

He went on in this vein for a long time, urging them over and over, “Get out while you can; get out of this sick and stupid culture!” (‭Acts‬ ‭2‬:‭38-40‬ MSG)

I am believing today that the blood still works, and declaring every curse has been broken in my life and to those who come after me, In JESUS Name!!!!!!

Glory to GOD!!! ‘You don’t know like I know in what He’s done for me!’

The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. (‭John‬ ‭10‬:‭10‬ KJV)

  3. 9. He was a mighty hunter before the Lord: wherefore it is said, Even as Nimrod the mighty hunter before the Lord.

Are we living our lives in a way that it could be said, “He/She is a mighty ________ before the Lord”?

  4. 9 He was a mighty hunter before the Lord: wherefore it is said, Even as Nimrod the mighty hunter before the Lord.

My first impression was I want to be known as a might hunter before the Lord also. However, studying the Greek definitions I found this is not a good thing. In this scripture the word “BEFORE” is actually translated as against. So, Nimrod was a mighty hunter against the Lord. I don’t want any part of that. In the coming chapters Nimrod became ruler over Babel. This could be considered the first attempt for a one world government. God intervened in the plans of building the tower and scattered the people and confounding their language. Some theologians believe Nimrod is a foreshadow of the antichrist.

  5. THE table of nations traces the relationship between the people.know as ancient Israel and explains their link to the sons of Noah. The people are classified by language land and treaty links as well as ethically.

  6. What makes a great man

What made Nimrod such a mighty men??? The fact that he was a hunter or that he hunted before the Lord. He had to had made the correct options to attract the Lord’s attention. What could we do, to attract His presence and glory. My former Pastor Carl Lagow use to say nothing attract God’s attention we need to do is pray without ceasing, fast, read His word, and praising like is your last opportunity!!!!!! Men define yourselves, take responsibility for thos around you, and be the head of your family stay under His submissive

  7. 20 These are the descendants of Ham by family, language, country, and nation. (MSG)

The same is said for each brother; they were all identifiable by their people, their language in how they spoke, their territory, and culture in how they did things. To me this seems how and why Pentecostals are, or should be, so identifiable in the world. We need to be separate from this world for others to see we talk different, because of what we do, how we do it and oh it’s because they’re following Jesus.

It’s like pastor’s vision in choosing the name of our church, we are called to be “The Pentecostals” and we must be identifiable in these aspects. Talk about Jesus because this world will hear it, insure our actions are reflecting the Word of God (do they show we are submissive and obedient servants of God?), and let the world know we are “The Pentecostals!” We are world changers!!

  8. These are the families of the sons of Noah, after their generations, in their nations: and by these were the nations divided in the earth after the flood.

    Sons for days.

  9. Genesis 9:7 And you, be ye fruitful, and multiply; bring forth abundantly in the earth, and multiply therein.

God gave Noah a command in the previous Chapter and Noah obeyed it.

  10. “And unto Eber were born two sons: the name of the one was Peleg. For in his days was the earth divided. And his brother’s name was Joktan.”
    ‭‭Genesis‬ ‭10:25‬ ‭ASV‬‬
I have heard people claim that this verse is the support for the super land mass Pangea. Pangea was the point in earth’s history when all land masses were together in one huge super continent then split into the land masses we have today. According to geologists, the land masses moving takes millions of years to happen. Personally, I think it’s awesome that yet again, Jesus is showing that His timing is in control, not ours.

  11. AFTER THE STORM

1 Now these are the generations of the sons of Noah, Shem, Ham, and Japheth: and unto them were sons born after the flood.

This entire chapter is devoted to revealing, what GOD can do AFTER THE STORM. In the eyes of the survivors of the destroyed earth was no doubt fear, pain and sorrow. However GOD Blessed them to reproduce and multiply.

We are wise to understand this principal that if GOD has brought the population of the earth from 8 to over 7 Billion AFTER THE STORM. Surely GOD will BLESS us AFTER THE STORM.

  12. Genesis 10:15-19 Canaan had Sidon his firstborn, Heth, the Jebusites, the Amorites, the Girgashites, the Hivites, the Arkites, the Sinites, the Arvadites, the Zemarites, and the Hamathites. Later the Canaanites spread out, going from Sidon toward Gerar, as far south as Gaza, and then east all the way over to Sodom, Gomorrah, Admah, Zeboiim, and on to Lasha. (MSG)

Genesis 9:25 And he said, Cursed be Canaan; a servant of servants shall he be unto his brethren. (KJV)

By reading chapter 10, it can seem as though Canaan is blessed with numerous children and riches. Yet if we read in chapter 9 the word of God says Canaan is cursed and His word does not lie.

There are times in our lives when we can see others that are supposed to be “cursed” or punished, but they seem to be thriving and blessed.

Yet we don’t know the Masters plan! We must have faith and believe in His word, Trust in Him, and obey His commandments. Our riches may be small but they are blessed, which makes them far more valuable.

  13. Genesis 10:32 These are the families of the sons of Noah, after their generation, in their nations : and By theses were the nations divided in earth after the flood.

  14. Genesis 10:32 these are the families of the sons of Noah, after their generation, in their nation: by the for the nations divided in the earth after the flood.

When God gives you a command you do it to the fullest of the ability he gave you. Be fruitful and multiply throughout all of the earth.

  15. 31 These are the sons of Shem, after their families, after their tongues, in their lands, after their nations.
32 These are the families of the sons of Noah, after their generations, in their nations: and by these were the nations divided in the earth after the flood.

We are all family. We may look different. Sound different. And even smell different. But we are all family.
I like the word for family in the Hawaiian language. It’s ‘ohana-family. In an extended sense of the term, including blood-related, adoptive or intentional. It emphasizes that families are bound together and members must cooperate and remember one another. We are ‘ohana. We are family. And no body gets left behind.

  16. 32 These are the families of the sons of Noah, after their generations, in their nations: and by these were the nations divided in the earth after the flood.

Every single person meant so much to God that he recorded their names, their families, and where they were from. It was not all about numbers to God in the same way that it should not be about Number to us, but should be about the person. And it is, thank you Jesus, praise God for a Pastor and a ministry team that cares about the person just as God himself did.

  17. The lineage of Noah was disbursed strategically into different nations after the flood. They were given territories to populate and build and govern over.

We, children of the Most High God, have been strategically placed in this day and hour to populate the Kingdom of God by being a light and witness over the territories God has placed us in, our families, our workplace, our communities, our city and our region. We are His hands and His feet, His tools to reach the lost.

  18. Gen. 10:1
“NOW these are the generations of the sons of Noah, Shem, Ham, and Japeth: and unto them were sons born after the flood.”

All the people of the world since the Flood have descended from the three sons of Noah.

Acts 17:26 says, “And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation.”

  19. 1This is the account of the families of Shem, Ham, and Japheth, the three sons of Noah. Many children were born to them after the great flood.

We too have a long genealogy line. Your choices you make today will influence your future family members. It’s up to us to teach our family the ways of the Lord.

  20. Genesis 10:8 Cush was the father of Nimrod who became a mighty warrior on the earth. He was a mighty hunter before the Lord, that is why it is said Like Nimrod, a mighty hunter before the Lord.

  21. Bible Commentary on Genesis 10:

Here is an account of Abraham’s children by Keturah, and the disposition which he made of his estate. After the birth of these sons, he set his house in order, with prudence and justice. He did this while he yet lived. It is wisdom for men to do what they find to do while they live, as far as they can. Abraham lived 175 years; just one hundred years after he came to Canaan; so long he was a sojourner in a strange country. Whether our stay in this life be long or short, it matters but little, provided we leave behind us a testimony to the faithfulness and goodness of the Lord, and a good example to our families.

    Amen.

  22. v1 Now these are the generations of the sons of Noah, Shem, Ham, and Japheth : and unto them were sons born after the flood.

So thankful GOD’S plan did not end with destruction nor did HE saved Noah’s and his family to fend for themselves. GOD IS CONCERNED about HIS PEOPLE.
Remember we were created in HIS IMAGE and likeness. Gen.1:27

GOD LOVES US SO MUCH that HE even became human through JESUS CHRIST in order to save us…..
………” HE THOUGHT I WAS WORTH SAVING”

” Today if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation ”
    Hebrews 3:15

There is power in obedience and in unity !!! Let us not rebel nor cause others to rebel by cursing without tongues to flatter, slander, whispers, or repeating gossip

GOD OUR FATHER and the church provides a set of expectation that will produce the fruit of the SPIRIT instead of the world of the flesh.

    MORE OBEDIENCE
    MORE UNITY

  23. 32 These are the families of the sons of Noah, after their generations, in their nations: and by these were the nations divided in the earth after the flood.

In reading this chapter, I was reminded on how God does really care about the details of my life. And that he will do what he said he’s gonna do. Thank you Jesus.

  24. 32 These are the families of the sons of Noah, after their generations, in their nations: and by these were the nations divided in the earth after the flood.

The decisions we make don’t just effect ourselves but those we love, family, friends, the ministries we serve in. The choice Noah made to get drunk effected his family either with blessing or a curse. We can see the lineage of Ham revealing that curse come to pass. Yes Ham made a bad decision that cost his family to pay for gossiping, but also Noah’s three children witnessed the backsliding of a patriach man of God. Damage has been done. Disunity has already begun to fester and show evident here “were the nations divided in the earth after the flood.” The choice to seek after God and walk with Him or serve self are in front of us, our lives and lives of those closest to us are in the balance. We can build up our own kingdom like Nimrod or we can build up His heavenly kingdom.

  25. 20 These are the sons of Ham, after their families, after their tongues, in their countries, and in their nations.

If the people in the Bible were recognized by how they spoke, where they came from, and where they are now, how are we as Christians recognized? When people look at us and talk to us are they hearing Jesus in us, are they seeing Him in us? Or is all they can see is where we come from rather than where we are now? How are we presenting ourselves to others? Lord help us to represent you everywhere we go. That people would see you in us, and hear your voice in every word we speak!

  26. Genesis 10:31
Did you know that THE SONS OF SHEM were selected to be the godly seed that God would sovereignly protect?
From Shem’s descendants came the three monotheistic religions , Islam, Judaism, and Christianity.

  27. Genesis 10:9

He was a mighty hunter before the Lord: wherefore it is said, Even as Nimrod the mighty hunter before the Lord.

This could be translated in the face of God. Nimrod lived boldly, proudly, and arrogantly. His legacy was a world system that still exists today through the spirit of the age.

I’d rather have the testimony that I lived in the fear of God and not in the face of God.

  28. “He was a mighty hunter before the LORD; therefore it is said, “Like Nimrod the mighty hunter before the LORD.””(‭‭Genesis‬ ‭10:9‬ ‭NKJV‬‬)

Nimrod was referred as a mighty hunter and a strong superlative before the LORD. Nimrod was a great man in his days,he began to be mighty in the earth, Nimrod was also recognised as a public benefactor, and led to organise hunts upon a large scales. Mighty hunters like Nimrod are Great conquerors and great hunters before the mighty lord . He also was a violent invader towards his neighbours’ rights and properties. In Jesus Name Amen !!!

  29. This is the account of Shem, Ham and Japheth, Noah’s sons, who themselves had sons after the flood.
    Genesis 10:1 NIV

This is what God does when you obey and wait through the storm. He gives you a lineage.

  30. “These are the families of the sons of Noah, after their generations, in their nations: and by these were the nations divided in the earth after the flood.” The word of God (Jesus) is not confusing. Noah’s sons were divided to fulfill God’s word and populate the earth (Genesis 9: 9 And God blessed Noah and his sons, and said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth.) Whereas the deceiver (satan), which can only copy, tries to divide mankind from the Creator (Jesus). Dear God, help us too clearly see and united as one, regardless of geographical location, in praise and worship to you; “Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done”. “In GOD we trust”. “One Nation under GOD, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all”. What a mighty GOD we serve! Thank GOD for his word. GOD bless America, Jerusalem, and you all in JESUS name, Amen!

  31. Gen.10:9 He was a mighty hunter before the Lord:wherefore it is said, Even as Nimrod the mighty hunter before the Lord.

Jeremiah 16:16 Behold, I will send for many fishers, saith the Lord, and they shall fish them; and after will I send for many hunters, and they shall hunt them from every mountain, and from every hill, and out of the holes of the rocks.

  32. In this chapter we see how important it is to share the Gospel with your family, as it will lead from one generation to another.

  33. “These are the clans that descended from Noah’s sons, arranged by nation according to their lines of descent. All the nations of the earth descended from these clans after the great flood.”
    ‭‭Genesis‬ ‭10:32‬ ‭NLT‬‬

We are not just a family in the church, but as well in life if we really look into it. We all descended from these clans.

  34. 4 And the sons of Javan; Elishah, and Tarshish, Kittim, and Dodanim.

5 By these were the isles of the Gentiles divided in their lands; every one after his tongue, after their families, in their nations.

Here is where the division of the people started with the divison of the tongues. Imagine what type of unity a people can have when we all speak the same thing.

  35. 11 Out of that land went forth Asshur, and BUILDED Nineveh, and the city Rehoboth, and Calah,

    BUILD

And out of SILVER SADDLE ROAD went forth POFW, and builded at 10264 WEST POINT BLV……… That what is see, I see a visionary vision coming true, IMPACTING FORT WORTH. So amazing what God can do if you decide to no be status quo, be a revival church, take the kingdom by force.

  36. Mighty hunter 8. And Cush begat Nim’-rod: he began to be a mighty one in the earth. 9. He was a mighty hunter before the LORD: wherefore it is said, Even as Nim’-rod the mighty hunter before the LORD. 10. And the beginning of his kingdom was Ba’-bel, and E’-rech, and Ac’-cad, and Cal’-neh, in the land of Shi’-nar. 11. Out of that land went forth Assh’-ur, and builded Nin’-e-veh, and the city Re’-ho-both, and Ca’-lah, 12. And Re’-sen between Nin’-e-veh and Ca’-lah: the same is a great city.
