Genesis 14

1 And it came to pass in the days of Amraphel king of Shinar, Arioch king of Ellasar, Chedorlaomer king of Elam, and Tidal king of nations;

2 That these made war with Bera king of Sodom, and with Birsha king of Gomorrah, Shinab king of Admah, and Shemeber king of Zeboiim, and the king of Bela, which is Zoar.

3 All these were joined together in the vale of Siddim, which is the salt sea.

4 Twelve years they served Chedorlaomer, and in the thirteenth year they rebelled.

5 And in the fourteenth year came Chedorlaomer, and the kings that were with him, and smote the Rephaims in Ashteroth Karnaim, and the Zuzims in Ham, and the Emins in Shaveh Kiriathaim,

6 And the Horites in their mount Seir, unto Elparan, which is by the wilderness.

7 And they returned, and came to Enmishpat, which is Kadesh, and smote all the country of the Amalekites, and also the Amorites, that dwelt in Hazezontamar.

8 And there went out the king of Sodom, and the king of Gomorrah, and the king of Admah, and the king of Zeboiim, and the king of Bela (the same is Zoar;) and they joined battle with them in the vale of Siddim;

9 With Chedorlaomer the king of Elam, and with Tidal king of nations, and Amraphel king of Shinar, and Arioch king of Ellasar; four kings with five.

10 And the vale of Siddim was full of slimepits; and the kings of Sodom and Gomorrah fled, and fell there; and they that remained fled to the mountain.

11 And they took all the goods of Sodom and Gomorrah, and all their victuals, and went their way.

12 And they took Lot, Abram’s brother’s son, who dwelt in Sodom, and his goods, and departed.

13 And there came one that had escaped, and told Abram the Hebrew; for he dwelt in the plain of Mamre the Amorite, brother of Eshcol, and brother of Aner: and these were confederate with Abram.

14 And when Abram heard that his brother was taken captive, he armed his trained servants, born in his own house, three hundred and eighteen, and pursued them unto Dan.

15 And he divided himself against them, he and his servants, by night, and smote them, and pursued them unto Hobah, which is on the left hand of Damascus.

16 And he brought back all the goods, and also brought again his brother Lot, and his goods, and the women also, and the people.

17 And the king of Sodom went out to meet him after his return from the slaughter of Chedorlaomer, and of the kings that were with him, at the valley of Shaveh, which is the king’s dale.

18 And Melchizedek king of Salem brought forth bread and wine: and he was the priest of the most high God.

19 And he blessed him, and said, Blessed be Abram of the most high God, possessor of heaven and earth:

20 And blessed be the most high God, which hath delivered thine enemies into thy hand. And he gave him tithes of all.

21 And the king of Sodom said unto Abram, Give me the persons, and take the goods to thyself.

22 And Abram said to the king of Sodom, I have lift up mine hand unto the Lord, the most high God, the possessor of heaven and earth,

23 That I will not take from a thread even to a shoelatchet, and that I will not take any thing that is thine, lest thou shouldest say, I have made Abram rich:

24 Save only that which the young men have eaten, and the portion of the men which went with me, Aner, Eshcol, and Mamre; let them take their portion.

  1. Genesis 14:6
And the Horites in their mount Sier unto elparan which is by the wilderness.
We must have trust in the lord for he is worthy of the glory . More Jesus Amen .

  2. Abram replied to the king of Sodom, “I solemnly swear to the LORD, God Most High, Creator of heaven and earth, that I will not take so much as a single thread or sandal thong from what belongs to you. Otherwise you might say, ‘I am the one who made Abram rich.’ (‭Genesis‬ ‭14‬:‭22-23‬ NLT)

Again Abrams not enticed by the ‘worldly possessions’ but knew where his provisions came from. It is the LORD that provides all of his needs and not man.
    To GOD be the Glory!!!

  3. Abram didn’t hesitate to respond as soon as they came and told him what had happened to his nephew. He immediately went to his rescue. Even though Abram knew that his own nephew had chosen his place; Abram did not stop and think “well he got what he deserved”. Instead, he went into action to defend him and save him. We too must never hold onto to grudges; but, jump into action whenever we see someone in need.

  4. 14. And when Abram heard that his brother was taken captive, he armed his trained servants, born in his own house, three hundred and eighteen, and pursued them unto Dan.

    15. And he divided himself against them, he and his servants, by night, and smote them, and pursued them unto Hobah, which is on the left hand of Damascus.

    16. And he brought back all the goods, and also brought again his brother Lot, and his goods, and the women also, and the people.

When the enemy takes a brother captive, we don’t just give up and write them off as a lost cause, but we take the fight to the enemy and pursue until victorious.

  5. MORE CONSCIENCE OF OUR COMMITMENTS

Abram was offered goods as a gift a deal with a desperate king. We are often offered goods as a trade for Spiritual possessions that GOD has given us.

Abram recognized his prior commitment to the LORD and refused the offer. We must be wise to know when it is time to refuse offers that will cause us to default on a pledge or commitment to the LORD.

    iRepent
    iPraise
    iPray
    iWork
    iGive
    iReap

  6. FROG = FULLY RELY ON GOD

It is always best to have God be your provider than to receive an abundance of riches from an enemy that only cares about you having to pay back Lord knows by what matters. I prefer never to owe anything to no one for later they will throw it back at your face and what you thought it was a blessing turned out to be a curse. Lord help us help others without any interest. Help us give with Joy, and help us be able to differentiate from when someone is trying to bless us from those that are trying to put us in bondage. In Jesus Name AMEN

  7. 15 And he divided himself against them, he and his servants, by night, and smote them, and pursued them unto Hobah, which is on the left hand of Damascus.
16 And he brought back all the goods, and also brought again his brother Lot, and his goods, and the women also, and the people.

    Family.

Friends will fail you. But family is forever. This is why we must be a family in the church. Family will help each other out. Let’s stick together and be the family of God

  8. We help each other out from our heart not for payment or something in return just as God helps us because the word says that is what to do. So get your heart right and you wont have to worry about grudges and paybacks and such as that.

  9. iLove to eat More Word

14And when Abram heard that his brother was taken captive, he armed his trained servants, born in his own house, three hundred and eighteen, and pursued them unto Dan.

15And he divided himself against them, he and his servants, by night, and smote them, and pursued them unto Hobah, which is on the left hand of Damascus.

16And he brought back all the goods, and also brought again his brother Lot, and his goods, and the women also, and the people.

Abram was a man of faith and would receive back everything that was stolen. He took ordinary men and instantly transformed them into mighty warriors. That is Leadership.

  10. When Litmus taken by reading armies from the north Abram routs the superiors force in a night attack. Abram accepts the blessing of Melchizedek a type of Christ but rejects the King of Sodom’s offer of wealth lest Sodom rather than God credited with enriching him.

  11. Genesis 14:17 After Abram returned from defeating Kedorlaomer and the kings allied with him, the knowledge ng of Sodom came out to meet him in the Valley ofShaveh (that is, the King,s Valley). Then Melchizedek King of Salem brought out bread and wine. He was priest of God Most High and he blessed Abram saying. Blessed be Abram by God Most High, Creator of heaven and earth. And praise be to God Most High who delivered your enemies into your hand.

  12. Thankyou Lord for your Word. I can’t live without your word.

I love you Jesus. No one ever wants to worships you Lord…I do though. All for You JESUS. I love church because I can hear from You more than ever.
    Peace to you Jesus.

  13. Strength

14 And when Abram heard that his brother was taken captive, he armed his trained servants, born in his own house, three hundred and eighteen, and pursued them unto Dan.

There is strength in having people in one’s life who will have their back when someone bad happens. Whether it’s needing help after being stranded with a flat tire, needing support after the loss of a loved one, needing a prayer partner to bind with you in focused prayer over something, or needing someone to come reaching for you if you begin to turn away from the things of God, life is full of reasons why it is better to have genuine support and friends in the Lord than to go it alone.

    Ecclesiastes 4:9-12
9 Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour.

10 For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow: but woe to him that is alone when he falleth; for he hath not another to help him up.

11 Again, if two lie together, then they have heat: but how can one be warm alone?

12 And if one prevail against him, two shall withstand him; and a threefold cord is not quickly broken.

Abram wanted to make sure that at the end of the day no one received the glory but God. He wanted to be assured that God was recognized. In our lives God should always be given all the glory, honor and praise because its from Him that all blessings flow.

  15. 22 And Abram said to the king of Sodom, I have lift up mine hand unto the Lord, the most high God, the possessor of heaven and earth, 23 That I will not take from a thread even to a shoelatchet, and that I will not take any thing that is thine, lest thou shouldest say, I have made Abram rich:
Abram was wise not to take anything as the previous chapter stated Sodom was evil, which the leader (king) was no doubt evil himself (Genesis 13:13 But the men of Sodom were wicked and sinners before the Lord exceedingly.). One would be wise to heed Abram’s actions. Dear God, let me mindful, and as wise; “Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done”. “In GOD we trust”. “One Nation under GOD, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all”. What a mighty GOD we serve! Thank GOD for his word. GOD bless America, Jerusalem, and you all in JESUS name, Amen!

  16. 14:22 But Abram replied to the king of Sodom, “I raise my hand to the Lord, the Most High God, Creator of heaven and earth, and vow 14:23 that I will take nothing belonging to you, not even a thread or the strap of a sandal. That way you can never say, ‘It is I who made Abram rich

This statement refutes the claim that Melchizedek was a Theophany or part of divine. He was a man who was a type and shadow for Christ.

  17. “But Abram told the king of Sodom, “I swear to GOD, The High God, Creator of Heaven and Earth, this solemn oath, that I’ll take nothing from you, not so much as a thread or a shoestring. I’m not going to have you go around saying, ‘I made Abram rich.’ Nothing for me other than what the young men ate and the share of the men who went with me, Aner, Eshcol, and Mamre; they’re to get their share of the plunder.””
    ‭‭Genesis‬ ‭14:22-24‬ ‭MSG‬‬

Don’t give man all the glory for your success; give all the glory to God.

  18. The Rebellious year

4 Twelve years they served Chedorlaomer, and in the thirteenth year they rebelled.

We are almost done with our thirteenth year at the church. It has been one of the most difficult years of my life so I’m glad it’s almost over. I’m ready for the fourteenth year!

  19. “And blessed be God Most High, who has defeated your enemies for you.” Then Abram gave Melchizedek a tenth of all the goods he had recovered.”
    ‭‭Genesis‬ ‭14:20‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Sometimes we try to fight battles that are not even for us. Let God be Lord over your life that he may also be Lord over your battles. The battle is the Lord’s all we have to do sometimes is praise him and believe him for the victory.

  20. Sometimes you just got to earn a little respect from your peers, and they need to know how great your God is!

19 And he blessed him, and said, Blessed be Abram of the most high God, possessor of heaven and earth:

20 And blessed be the most high God, which hath delivered thine enemies into thy hand. And he gave him tithes of all.
    ________________________________________________________________
Integrity is a huge deal with God, and you can see here. You can’t just pay off a child of God. It’s not about the money but “FAMILY”, and it is best to leave God’s children alone.

23 That I will not take from a thread even to a shoelatchet, and that I will not take any thing that is thine, lest thou shouldest say, I have made Abram rich:

    “Stay Connected”…………………………………………………………………………….

  21. Gen.14:19 And he blessed him, and said, Blessed be be Abram the Most High God, possessor of heaven and earth: And blessed be the most High God, which hath delivered thine enemies into my hand. And he gave him tithes of all.

Ruth 3:10 And he said, Blessed be thou of the Lord, my daughter: for thou hast shewed more kindness in the latter end than at the beginning, in as much as thou followedst not young man, wheter poor or rich.

Heb.7:4 Now consider how great this man was, unto whom even the patriarch Abraham gave the tenth of the spoils.

  22. 19 And he blessed him, and said, Blessed be Abram of the most high God, possessor of heaven and earth:

20 And blessed be the most high God, which hath delivered thine enemies into thy hand. And he gave him tithes of all.

Even before there was a Preisthood set up in the Jewish people, even Abraham had to give a tenth of what he had to God, Cain and Abel did the same thing. If they needed to give out tithe, how much more do we? And also give our offering

  23. When Lot is taken by reading army’s Abram routs the force in a night attack.Abram accepts the blessing of Melchizedek a type of Christ but rejects. The king Sodom’s offer of wealth.

  24. 13 And there came one that had escaped, and told Abram the Hebrew; for he dwelt in the plain of Mamre the Amorite, brother of Eshcol, and brother of Aner: and these were confederate with Abram.

14 And when Abram heard that his brother was taken captive, he armed his trained servants, born in his own house, three hundred and eighteen, and pursued them unto Dan.

As Abram journeyed through the land the Lord had given him, he was wise and made good friends who would be allies. When you have been given a land by God, better to make the inhabitants your friends! As a result, Abram received their aid-first with the information of what happened to Lot and also their help to go fight.
Let no one seek his own good, but that of his neighbor. 1 Cor 10:24

  25. 22-23 And Abram said to the king of Sodom, I have lift up mine hand unto the Lord, the most high God, the possessor of heaven and earth, That I will not take from a thread even to a shoelatchet, and that I will not take any thing that is thine, lest thou shouldest say, I have made Abram rich:

Know where your help comes from!

  26. 23 That I will not take from a thread even to a shoelatchet, and that I will not take any thing that is thine, lest thou shouldest say, I have made Abram rich:

Don’t give the enemy any room to try and take God’s glory from your blessing, instead we can take note from Abrams approach to not accept a gift or sum that another could praise themselves for giving and not the Lord. Sometimes its the heart of the giver and the wisdom of the recipient. Every good gift comes from the Lord.

  27. The king of Sodom told Abram he could take the goods, for the king wanted the people, but Abram would not take anything because he wanted God to get all the glory for his abundant life.

  28. 21 And the king of Sodom said unto Abram, Give me the persons, and take the goods to thyself.
It is God who deserves the glory of blessings, not man.

  29. The Most High God 21. And the king of Sod’-om said unto A’-bram, Give me the persons, and take the goods to thyself. 22. And A’-bram said to the king of Sod’-om, I have lift up mine hand unto the LORD, the most high God, the possessor of heaven and earth, 23. That I will not take from a thread even to a shoelatchet, and that I will not take any thing that is thine, lest thou shouldest say, I have made A’-bram rich: 24. Save only that which the young men have eaten, and the portion of the men which went with me, A’-ner, Esh’-col, and Mam’-re; let them take their portion. Gen. 14 : 13 I Praise you LORD!!!!

  30. When Abram heard that his nephew Lot had been captured, he mobilized the 318 trained men who had been born into his household. Then he pursued Kedorlaomer’s army until he caught up with them at Dan. There he divided his men and attacked during the night. Kedorlaomer’s army fled, but Abram chased them as far as Hobah, north of Damascus. Abram recovered all the goods that had been taken, and he brought back his nephew Lot with his possessions and all the women and other captives.
    Genesis 14:14-16 NLT

Another reason to have a man of God in your life. No matter where you find yourself, when you’re in trouble the man of God will always go look for you and help you.
