Genesis 41

1 And it came to pass at the end of two full years, that Pharaoh dreamed: and, behold, he stood by the river.

2 And, behold, there came up out of the river seven well favoured kine and fatfleshed; and they fed in a meadow.

3 And, behold, seven other kine came up after them out of the river, ill favoured and leanfleshed; and stood by the other kine upon the brink of the river.

4 And the ill favoured and leanfleshed kine did eat up the seven well favoured and fat kine. So Pharaoh awoke.

5 And he slept and dreamed the second time: and, behold, seven ears of corn came up upon one stalk, rank and good.

6 And, behold, seven thin ears and blasted with the east wind sprung up after them.

7 And the seven thin ears devoured the seven rank and full ears. And Pharaoh awoke, and, behold, it was a dream.

8 And it came to pass in the morning that his spirit was troubled; and he sent and called for all the magicians of Egypt, and all the wise men thereof: and Pharaoh told them his dream; but there was none that could interpret them unto Pharaoh.

9 Then spake the chief butler unto Pharaoh, saying, I do remember my faults this day:

10 Pharaoh was wroth with his servants, and put me in ward in the captain of the guard’s house, both me and the chief baker:

11 And we dreamed a dream in one night, I and he; we dreamed each man according to the interpretation of his dream.

12 And there was there with us a young man, an Hebrew, servant to the captain of the guard; and we told him, and he interpreted to us our dreams; to each man according to his dream he did interpret.

13 And it came to pass, as he interpreted to us, so it was; me he restored unto mine office, and him he hanged.

14 Then Pharaoh sent and called Joseph, and they brought him hastily out of the dungeon: and he shaved himself, and changed his raiment, and came in unto Pharaoh.

15 And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, I have dreamed a dream, and there is none that can interpret it: and I have heard say of thee, that thou canst understand a dream to interpret it.

16 And Joseph answered Pharaoh, saying, It is not in me: God shall give Pharaoh an answer of peace.

17 And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, In my dream, behold, I stood upon the bank of the river:

18 And, behold, there came up out of the river seven kine, fatfleshed and well favoured; and they fed in a meadow:

19 And, behold, seven other kine came up after them, poor and very ill favoured and leanfleshed, such as I never saw in all the land of Egypt for badness:

20 And the lean and the ill favoured kine did eat up the first seven fat kine:

21 And when they had eaten them up, it could not be known that they had eaten them; but they were still ill favoured, as at the beginning. So I awoke.

22 And I saw in my dream, and, behold, seven ears came up in one stalk, full and good:

23 And, behold, seven ears, withered, thin, and blasted with the east wind, sprung up after them:

24 And the thin ears devoured the seven good ears: and I told this unto the magicians; but there was none that could declare it to me.

25 And Joseph said unto Pharaoh, The dream of Pharaoh is one: God hath shewed Pharaoh what he is about to do.

26 The seven good kine are seven years; and the seven good ears are seven years: the dream is one.

27 And the seven thin and ill favoured kine that came up after them are seven years; and the seven empty ears blasted with the east wind shall be seven years of famine.

28 This is the thing which I have spoken unto Pharaoh: What God is about to do he sheweth unto Pharaoh.

29 Behold, there come seven years of great plenty throughout all the land of Egypt:

30 And there shall arise after them seven years of famine; and all the plenty shall be forgotten in the land of Egypt; and the famine shall consume the land;

31 And the plenty shall not be known in the land by reason of that famine following; for it shall be very grievous.

32 And for that the dream was doubled unto Pharaoh twice; it is because the thing is established by God, and God will shortly bring it to pass.

33 Now therefore let Pharaoh look out a man discreet and wise, and set him over the land of Egypt.

34 Let Pharaoh do this, and let him appoint officers over the land, and take up the fifth part of the land of Egypt in the seven plenteous years.

35 And let them gather all the food of those good years that come, and lay up corn under the hand of Pharaoh, and let them keep food in the cities.

36 And that food shall be for store to the land against the seven years of famine, which shall be in the land of Egypt; that the land perish not through the famine.

37 And the thing was good in the eyes of Pharaoh, and in the eyes of all his servants.

38 And Pharaoh said unto his servants, Can we find such a one as this is, a man in whom the Spirit of God is?

39 And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, Forasmuch as God hath shewed thee all this, there is none so discreet and wise as thou art:

40 Thou shalt be over my house, and according unto thy word shall all my people be ruled: only in the throne will I be greater than thou.

41 And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, See, I have set thee over all the land of Egypt.

42 And Pharaoh took off his ring from his hand, and put it upon Joseph’s hand, and arrayed him in vestures of fine linen, and put a gold chain about his neck;

43 And he made him to ride in the second chariot which he had; and they cried before him, Bow the knee: and he made him ruler over all the land of Egypt.

44 And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, I am Pharaoh, and without thee shall no man lift up his hand or foot in all the land of Egypt.

45 And Pharaoh called Joseph’s name Zaphnathpaaneah; and he gave him to wife Asenath the daughter of Potipherah priest of On. And Joseph went out over all the land of Egypt.

46 And Joseph was thirty years old when he stood before Pharaoh king of Egypt. And Joseph went out from the presence of Pharaoh, and went throughout all the land of Egypt.

47 And in the seven plenteous years the earth brought forth by handfuls.

48 And he gathered up all the food of the seven years, which were in the land of Egypt, and laid up the food in the cities: the food of the field, which was round about every city, laid he up in the same.

49 And Joseph gathered corn as the sand of the sea, very much, until he left numbering; for it was without number.

50 And unto Joseph were born two sons before the years of famine came, which Asenath the daughter of Potipherah priest of On bare unto him.

51 And Joseph called the name of the firstborn Manasseh: For God, said he, hath made me forget all my toil, and all my father’s house.

52 And the name of the second called he Ephraim: For God hath caused me to be fruitful in the land of my affliction.

53 And the seven years of plenteousness, that was in the land of Egypt, were ended.

54 And the seven years of dearth began to come, according as Joseph had said: and the dearth was in all lands; but in all the land of Egypt there was bread.

55 And when all the land of Egypt was famished, the people cried to Pharaoh for bread: and Pharaoh said unto all the Egyptians, Go unto Joseph; what he saith to you, do.

56 And the famine was over all the face of the earth: and Joseph opened all the storehouses, and sold unto the Egyptians; and the famine waxed sore in the land of Egypt.

57 And all countries came into Egypt to Joseph for to buy corn; because that the famine was so sore in all lands.

  1. You got a dream, well it should be shown to you twice. If, it was from God you should gave confirmation too.

32 And for that the dream was doubled unto Pharaoh twice; it is because the thing is established by God, and God will shortly bring it to pass.

    “Dreams are a message too”………

  2. 38. And Pharaoh said unto his servants, Can we find such a one as this is, a man in whom the Spirit of God is?

    39. And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, Forasmuch as God hath shewed thee all this, there is none so discreet and wise as thou art:

    40. Thou shalt be over my house, and according unto thy word shall all my people be ruled: only in the throne will I be greater than thou.

This world is still in desperate need of leaders to step up and show that God can help them out of their dilemma.

  3. He remember Joseph

The butler finally remember Joseph, but it was because pharaoh was in trouble. How easy it is to remember God when trouble arises. I don’t know how people can go years without having a conversation with Christ but tragedy strikes and then they cry to God making all kind of bargains like God could ever benefit from men. I have travel a lot and believe me when I say that even so called atheist will cry to God when facing death. I could not go one day without speaking to God people may think I’m crazy or taking on my phone on speaker cause I love to talk to God in the car as I admire all the wonderful beautiful creations He made just for me. Like Joseph we must make sure we do not take it personal and make sure to be ready when called to duty. Joseph at all time gave all honor and glory to God all mighty. The same way, we must make sure that everyone knows that the only reason we are is b cause of God, that the talent is not ours but Gods, and that it is Him who work through us and only HIM. Once we do that, then we will grow as Joseph grew. In Jesus Name AMEN

  4. Pharaoh is troubled by repeated dreams and one official remembers Joseph . Joseph is called giving full credit to God explains that the dream warns of seven years of famine to follow seven years of.plenty Joseph adds.his.own.advice on how.to.meet the crisis Pharaoh convinced Joseph’s wisdom grants him wide powers to supervise storage of grain in preparation for.coming famine.

  5. “And Joseph answered Pharaoh, saying, It is not in me: God shall give Pharaoh an answer of peace.”
    ‭‭Genesis‬ ‭41:16‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Even though Joseph is the one who is getting the fame for what is happening around them, he is giving credit to God where it is due. It is because of his humility that God is able to use him the way that he does.

  6. “Joseph answered, “Not I, but God. God will set Pharaoh’s mind at ease.””
    ‭‭Genesis‬ ‭41:16‬ ‭MSG‬‬

    Not me. But God.
The simple phrase is ringing through my head.

    What about the circumstances…But God
    What about the trials…But God

Isaiah 40:28-31 Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding. He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

It’s easy to assume you have everything under control, but we hat realize it is not US But GOD.

Without Him we are nothing but partials of dust.

But with Him, we can IMPACT Fort Worth!

  7. And the famine was over all the face of the earth: and Joseph opened all the storehouses, and sold unto the Egyptians; and the famine waxed sore in the land of Egypt.
57 And all countries came into Egypt to Joseph for to buy corn; because that the famine was so sore in all lands.

When you’re blessed. You then can become a blessing to others. Be blessed.

  8. In this chapter, not only does Joseph interprete Pharaoh’s dream, but he analyzes the situation and determines the best course of action to take.

Reminds me of the Tuesday night Leadership Class when Bishop Foster taught us on, if there is a problem don’t add to it, but find a solution to the problem.

  9. Genesis 41:5 He fell asleep again and had a second dream,Seven heads of grain healthy and good were growing on a single stalk. After them seven other heads of grain sprouted thin and scorched by the east wind. The thin heads of grain swallowed up the seven healthy full heads. Then Pharaoh woke up it had been a dream. In the morning his mind was troubled so he sent for all the magicians and wise men of Egypt. Pharaoh told them his dreams, but no one could interpret them for him. Then the chief cupbearer said to Pharaoh, Today I am reminded of my shortcomings. Pharaoh was onceangry with hius servants and he imprisoned me and the chief baker in the house of the captain of the guard. Each of us had a dream the same night and each dream had a meaning of its own. Now a young Hebrew was there with us a servant of the captain of the guard.

  10. vss. 15-16 And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, I have dreamed a dream, and there is none that can interpret it: and I have heard say of thee, that thou canst understand a dream to interpret it.
And Joseph answered Pharaoh, saying, It is not in me: GOD shall give Pharaoh an answer of peace.

Joseph was not blind of the glories of GOD.
We too can see GOD’S GLORY and exalt HIM in worship ad we part take of HIS GLORY.

  11. This chapter gives us an example of being MORE aware of Gods voice. God speaks to us in so many different ways. I this case a dream. He’s the only one that can speak straight to a mans heart and bypass his human intellect. God reveals himself in ways that we have to be hungry and seek him to find the message that he would give us. Only the ones that are truly in tune with his spirit will hear or see what God is saying. In this example Joseph was tuned into what God was saying. Obviously in turmoil in his life he was in prayer and seeking the face of God daily. He must of been in his knees praying for his return to his family. His time of trouble brought him to his knees where he could truly hear from God. The purpose of the trouble in his life was not evident in the present time but it revealed itself through his faith. We don’t always understand what God is doing or why we are going through the things we are going through in our lives but if we can just hang on and seek him the answers are sure to follow. You never know what God is up to. Just trust him. There is a great lyric in one of my favorite songs that says ” I know that I’m in reach because I’m down in my knees” . It is in our trials that we gain our testimony. It in our moments of weakness that He shows himself strong. Waiting on God is not easy but it’s worth it!

  12. 16 And Joseph answered Pharaoh, saying, It is not in me: God shall give Pharaoh an answer of peace.
God gives meaning to all things, not man.
Joseph had been through a lot before ever coming before Pharaoh. Proverbs states that humility comes before honor (Proverbs 18:12). If God would have honored Joseph without the trials, he would have been a proud, arrogant leader. God will open the door to honor for us when we’re ready.

  13. 25 And Joseph said unto Pharaoh, The dream of Pharaoh is one: God hath shewed Pharaoh what he is about to do.
Because of His walk with God Joseph was able to hear from God. That relationship with God allowed him to interpret the dream and relay that to Pharoah. Our walk with God allows us to hear from God and to be used to help other people if we are sensitive.

  14. “And Joseph said unto Pharaoh, The dream of Pharaoh is one: God hath shewed Pharaoh what he is about to do.” The word of God (Jesus) proves that one is wise to heed the man chosen by God. While one’s fate may not change, the journey (path) can change. Dear God, help me too be wise and not, unwise; “Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done”. “In GOD we trust”. “One Nation under GOD, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all”. What a mighty GOD we serve! Thank GOD for his word. GOD bless America, Jerusalem, and you all in JESUS name, Amen!

  15. Joseph was trapped in the jail until finally someone remembered the good that he did and saved him from the jail. We each have a chance to help a person weather it’s big or small even praying for the person or saying a kind word….it all makes an impact weather it takes them a minute to remember or a few years. An impact is an impact so at least make one. One impact can allow God to start working on them.

    Another thing that popped
Into my mind about this chapter is that Joseph was in jail for a while and even when he got out he gave all the credit to God….even when things got tough and even when he could take the glory….he said no it’s all God not me.

“It is beyond my power to do this,” Joseph replied. “But God can tell you what it means and set you at ease.””
    ‭‭Genesis‬ ‭41:16‬ ‭NLT‬‬

God deserves everything during the good of the bad

  16. Joseph names his first two children to summarize his life. The first, literally God has let me forget my hardships, and the second, God has me to prosper in the land of my sorrow. Hardships can mold us into the person we need to be. Our thorns become our methods of grace. Every obstacle can be an opportunity. Every stone can be a stepping stone or a stumbling block. Which one it is to be rests upon our perception.

  17. “Then Pharaoh gave Joseph an Egyptian name, Zaphenath-Paneah (God Speaks and He Lives). He also gave him an Egyptian wife, Asenath, the daughter of Potiphera, the priest of On (Heliopolis). And Joseph took up his duties over the land of Egypt.”
    ‭‭Genesis‬ ‭41:45‬ ‭MSG

joseph was faithful to God every step of the way through his journey. By doing so God appointed him to a higher level in the eyes of the world as well as a new name. (When you have an encounter with God you’re never the same)

  18. 25 And Joseph said unto Pharaoh, The dream of Pharaoh is one: God hath shewed Pharaoh what he is about to do.

Amen!!! Jesus will give us dreams that can only be given by Him and Him only. Jesus has a plan for each and every one of us, our job is to obey and be submissive to His will. Many times we do not know why Jesus does things but He will never set us up for failure. Jesus is above everything that we can understand. I need you Jesus because without you I can’t do nothing!!!

  19. And unto Joseph were born two sons before the years of famine came, which Asenath the daughter of Potipherah priest of On bare unto him.

51 And Joseph called the name of the firstborn Manasseh: For God, said he, hath made me forget all my toil, and all my father’s house.

52 And the name of the second called he Ephraim: For God hath caused me to be fruitful in the land of my affliction.

Even on a foreign country where they did not worship God, Joseph did not forget about God and was faithful and always gave God the glory when he was used. May we posses that attitude and be faithful to God while in the middle of our process where ever we may be.

  20. Everything about Joseph pointed to God. He could have had pity party when the Chief Butler forgot him, he could have had a pity party when he was cast into prison, but he didn’t. He still testified about what God had done and is doing, and allowed God to use him in his current circumstances. What is our attitude when adverse situations arise? Do we turn the attention to the Lord? Do we throw our own pity party? Do we speak life into those situations of what we want to see, not what we see with our natural eye.

Lord help us to not be so quick to answer and to be sure that You are reflected in all we say or do.

  21. 14 Then Pharaoh sent and called Joseph, and they brought him hastily out of the dungeon: and he shaved himself, and changed his raiment, and came in unto Pharaoh.

When you are called to ministry, take courage and answer the call. I got a wake up call today, that could have been you, God said!

    And like Samuel,
Valentin, Valentin! “Here I am, for thou didst call me? Lord I’m available to you, use me as you will! I will not stand here and let another 10 years pass me by and miss my calling from God a second time.

Use me God, Here I am!

  22. 42 And Pharaoh took off his ring from his hand, and put it upon Joseph’s hand, and arrayed him in vestures of fine linen, and put a gold chain about his neck;
