Genesis 46

1 And Israel took his journey with all that he had, and came to Beersheba, and offered sacrifices unto the God of his father Isaac.

2 And God spake unto Israel in the visions of the night, and said, Jacob, Jacob. And he said, Here am I.

3 And he said, I am God, the God of thy father: fear not to go down into Egypt; for I will there make of thee a great nation:

4 I will go down with thee into Egypt; and I will also surely bring thee up again: and Joseph shall put his hand upon thine eyes.

5 And Jacob rose up from Beersheba: and the sons of Israel carried Jacob their father, and their little ones, and their wives, in the wagons which Pharaoh had sent to carry him.

6 And they took their cattle, and their goods, which they had gotten in the land of Canaan, and came into Egypt, Jacob, and all his seed with him:

7 His sons, and his sons’ sons with him, his daughters, and his sons’ daughters, and all his seed brought he with him into Egypt.

8 And these are the names of the children of Israel, which came into Egypt, Jacob and his sons: Reuben, Jacob’s firstborn.

9 And the sons of Reuben; Hanoch, and Phallu, and Hezron, and Carmi.

10 And the sons of Simeon; Jemuel, and Jamin, and Ohad, and Jachin, and Zohar, and Shaul the son of a Canaanitish woman.

11 And the sons of Levi; Gershon, Kohath, and Merari.

12 And the sons of Judah; Er, and Onan, and Shelah, and Pharez, and Zarah: but Er and Onan died in the land of Canaan. And the sons of Pharez were Hezron and Hamul.

13 And the sons of Issachar; Tola, and Phuvah, and Job, and Shimron.

14 And the sons of Zebulun; Sered, and Elon, and Jahleel.

15 These be the sons of Leah, which she bare unto Jacob in Padanaram, with his daughter Dinah: all the souls of his sons and his daughters were thirty and three.

16 And the sons of Gad; Ziphion, and Haggi, Shuni, and Ezbon, Eri, and Arodi, and Areli.

17 And the sons of Asher; Jimnah, and Ishuah, and Isui, and Beriah, and Serah their sister: and the sons of Beriah; Heber, and Malchiel.

18 These are the sons of Zilpah, whom Laban gave to Leah his daughter, and these she bare unto Jacob, even sixteen souls.

19 The sons of Rachel Jacob’s wife; Joseph, and Benjamin.

20 And unto Joseph in the land of Egypt were born Manasseh and Ephraim, which Asenath the daughter of Potipherah priest of On bare unto him.

21 And the sons of Benjamin were Belah, and Becher, and Ashbel, Gera, and Naaman, Ehi, and Rosh, Muppim, and Huppim, and Ard.

22 These are the sons of Rachel, which were born to Jacob: all the souls were fourteen.

23 And the sons of Dan; Hushim.

24 And the sons of Naphtali; Jahzeel, and Guni, and Jezer, and Shillem.

25 These are the sons of Bilhah, which Laban gave unto Rachel his daughter, and she bare these unto Jacob: all the souls were seven.

26 All the souls that came with Jacob into Egypt, which came out of his loins, besides Jacob’s sons’ wives, all the souls were threescore and six;

27 And the sons of Joseph, which were born him in Egypt, were two souls: all the souls of the house of Jacob, which came into Egypt, were threescore and ten.

28 And he sent Judah before him unto Joseph, to direct his face unto Goshen; and they came into the land of Goshen.

29 And Joseph made ready his chariot, and went up to meet Israel his father, to Goshen, and presented himself unto him; and he fell on his neck, and wept on his neck a good while.

30 And Israel said unto Joseph, Now let me die, since I have seen thy face, because thou art yet alive.

31 And Joseph said unto his brethren, and unto his father’s house, I will go up, and shew Pharaoh, and say unto him, My brethren, and my father’s house, which were in the land of Canaan, are come unto me;

32 And the men are shepherds, for their trade hath been to feed cattle; and they have brought their flocks, and their herds, and all that they have.

33 And it shall come to pass, when Pharaoh shall call you, and shall say, What is your occupation?

34 That ye shall say, Thy servants’ trade hath been about cattle from our youth even until now, both we, and also our fathers: that ye may dwell in the land of Goshen; for every shepherd is an abomination unto the Egyptians.

  1. Wow….what a family reunion we find in this chapter! Just like most of us today, we will have some type of family reunion with friends and family. Like Israel and Joseph, let us be thankful for one another and give all glory to our God! “Happy Thanksgiving” POFW family. I pray you have a blessed and wonderful Thanksgiving. Thank you Jesus!

  2. A Father’s Love

A Father’s Love never ends. You could be mad at each other, you might be separated, or even after death. One thing is for sure, a father never stops loving their child. All you need is but to return, have a small gesture, and your father will receive you with open arms. If this are virtues of a earthly father; can you only believe how our Heavenly Father would react as we return home??? Matthew 7:11 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?

Thank you Lord for your love endureth for ever!!!!

  3. 29. And Joseph made ready his chariot, and went up to meet Israel his father, to Goshen, and presented himself unto him; and he fell on his neck, and wept on his neck a good while.

    30. And Israel said unto Joseph, Now let me die, since I have seen thy face, because thou art yet alive.

    31. And Joseph said unto his brethren, and unto his father’s house, I will go up, and shew Pharaoh, and say unto him, My brethren, and my father’s house, which were in the land of Canaan, are come unto me;

Israel was so thankful to see his son that he was now ready to die, and Joseph was so thankful to se his father that he was eager to show him Pharaoh…like these men, we have so much to be thankful for. Let us not forget to give thanks to our Heavenly Father today and every day. Happy Thanksgiving!

  4. Gen.46:1-7. God assured Jacob that he need fear not to go down into Egypt ; for I will there make of thee a great nation(Psalm 105:17, 23) The Lord promised ti be with Jacob and also surely bring thee up again.

    Trust in God’s promises

  5. “And Joseph made ready his chariot, and went up to meet Israel his father, to Goshen, and presented himself unto him; and he fell on his neck, and wept on his neck a good while. And Israel said unto Joseph, Now let me die, since I have seen thy face, because thou art yet alive.”
    ‭‭Genesis‬ ‭46:29-30‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Every man longs for the love of a father.

  6. An everlasting Love!

Israels love never stopped, even when he thought Joseph was dead. Just like that our Heavenly Father loves us even when we were dead in spirit, and rejoices and loves us even more so when we come back to him!!

  7. 3 And he said, I am God, the God of thy father: fear not to go down into Egypt; for I will there make of thee a great nation

The Lord knows exactly what to say at the right moment we need to hear it.
Praise God for an on time God.

  8. 5 And Jacob rose up from Beersheba: and the sons of Israel carried Jacob their father, and their little ones, and their wives, in the wagons which Pharaoh had sent to carry him.

God spoke to Israel (Jacob) in a dream to gather all his family and leave his land and go down to Egypt. Because of his relationship with the Lord, he didn’t hesitate, mull it over or question. He gathered all his family together and their belongs and they moved to Egypt.

We need that same style of relationship with the Lord. First to recognize when it is His voice revealing something to us. Secondly to be obedient regardless of what the instructions are, listening completely and following each step to the letter landed Jacob and his 70 family members in the land of GOSHEN (blessing)

Obedience is better than sacrifice, and if we are obedient, with a good attitude, God will bring us to a place of GOSHEN, his blessings in all we do and say.

  9. 34 That ye shall say, Thy servants’ trade hath been about cattle from our youth even until now, both we, and also our fathers: that ye may dwell in the land of Goshen; for every shepherd is an abomination unto the Egyptians.

Goshen- a land set aside from the rest of Egypt. We are not of this world. We are made to be set apart from it. Dwell on your Goshen land. And reap the benefits of it. Be blessed.

  10. Gen. 46:29 – 31
    29) And Joseph made ready his chariot, and went up to meet Israel his father, to Goshen, and presented himself to him; and he fell on his neck, and wept on his neck a good while.
    30) And Israel said unto Joseph, Now let me die, since I have seen thy face, because thou art yet alive.
    31) And Joseph said unto his brethren, and unto his father’s house, I will go up, and shew Pharaoh, and say unto him, My brethren, and my father’s house, which were in the land of Canaan, are come unto me.

What a day of Rejoicing and Thanksgiving for Jacob and Joseph and his family.
    So Thankful for my family.
So Thankful for my church family.
    Thank You JESUS for everything!

  11. iLove to eat the Word

Genesis 46:33-34 NLT Then he said, “When Pharaoh calls for you and asks you about your occupation, (34) you must tell him, ‘We, your servants, have raised livestock all our lives, as our ancestors have always done.’ When you tell him this, he will let you live here in the region of Goshen, for the Egyptians despise shepherds.”

Those who despise the voice of the shepherd are Spiritual Egyptians. Don’t despise the voice of our pastor, he is only trying to lead us to the Land of Goshen!!!!!

  12. MORE GOSHEN

28 And he sent Judah before him unto Joseph, to direct his face unto Goshen; and they came into the land of Goshen.

May the LORD direct our face unto Goshen. Goshen is where GOD Blessed Israel. GOD gave the children of Israel favor in an unfavorable setting. I pray for The Pentecostals of Fort Worth to find the Favor of the LORD in unfavorable settings.

    The LORD Bless you!

  13. 2 And God spake unto Israel in the visions of the night, and said, Jacob, Jacob. And he said, Here am I.
He knows each one of us by name!

  14. Genesis 46:34 (KJV Strong’s)

34 That ye shall say, Thy servants’ trade hath been about cattle from our youth even until now, both we, and also our fathers: that ye may dwell in the land of Goshen; for every shepherd is an abomination unto the Egyptians.

The word Goshen means drawing near. As we reflect on what we are thankful for the blessings God gives us are surely on our list. Yet in the word Goshen we see its purpose. The blessings and increase are contained in our drawing near to God. Everything hinges on him. I’m thankful to serve a God that desires closeness rather than choosing to rule from afar.

  15. Genesis 46:3 And he said, I am God,the God of thy father: fear not to go down into Egypt; for I will there make of thee a great nation:

  16. v3 And he said, I am GOD, the GOD of thy father: fear not to go down into Egypt; for I will there maske if thee a great nation:

I’m so thankful GOD IS OUR GREAT PROVIDER.

  17. 2 And God spake unto Israel in the visions of the night, and said, Jacob, Jacob.

  18. 29 And Joseph made ready his chariot, and went up to meet Israel his father, to Goshen, and presented himself unto him; and he fell on his neck, and wept on his neck a good while.
30 And Israel said unto Joseph, Now let me die, since I have seen thy face, because thou art yet alive.
in these verses we see the depth of a father’s love that he would be so happy to see his son that he was literally ready to die right then and there if it was his time to go our love for our children should be just as strong and just as powerful

  19. 28 And he sent Judah before him unto Joseph, to direct his face unto Goshen; and they came into the land of Goshen.

It’s ok to praise before you go to the land of abundance. Your praise will lead you to Goshen!

  20. Every direction that God gives is important. Every detail he gives is also important. We must follow what God is telling us if we expect to gain the blessings he has for us.

  21. “That ye shall say, Thy servants’ trade hath been about cattle from our youth even until now, both we, and also our fathers: that ye may dwell in the land of Goshen; for every shepherd is an abomination unto the Egyptians.” It was because of God (Jesus) that Joseph was blessed and full of wisdom. One should be thankful and quick to give the Creator (Jesus) glory; for as sure as favor is given, it can also be taken. Dear God, I humbly thank you for all blessings are from you, and I ask that you bless your servants and those in uniform; “Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done”. “In GOD we trust”. “One Nation under GOD, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all”. What a mighty GOD we serve! Thank GOD for his word. GOD bless America, Jerusalem, and you all in JESUS name, Amen!

  22. Jacob was reunited with his father. I can only imagine the emotions that were felt that day. After more than a decade the promise of looking after his family was not upon him. May we all hold onto the promised God gave us. They will come to pass, even when it looks grim.

  23. “So Israel set out on the journey with everything he owned. He arrived at Beersheba and worshiped, offering sacrifices to the God of his father Isaac.”
    ‭‭Genesis‬ ‭46:1‬ ‭MSG‬‬

Whenever you go in a journey, you want to have Gods blessings on you. Don’t forget to thank him in advance for all that he has done and will do.

  24. These wonderful people who took care of the people were looked down on and given the land that was away from the others. The away land was the best land there.

It’s kinda that way with those people in the church who take care of the sheep of His pasture. As people in the world often look down on those who take care of the people of God. Sometimes they are even put away from everyone else by the world. Look out blessing cause here they come!

  25. 28 And he sent Judah before him unto Joseph, to direct his face unto Goshen; and they came into the land of Goshen.

Be obedient and send up your praise to God and let the Lord direct you to a land of blesiing
