Exodus 7

1 And the Lord said unto Moses, See, I have made thee a god to Pharaoh: and Aaron thy brother shall be thy prophet.

2 Thou shalt speak all that I command thee: and Aaron thy brother shall speak unto Pharaoh, that he send the children of Israel out of his land.

3 And I will harden Pharaoh’s heart, and multiply my signs and my wonders in the land of Egypt.

4 But Pharaoh shall not hearken unto you, that I may lay my hand upon Egypt, and bring forth mine armies, and my people the children of Israel, out of the land of Egypt by great judgments.

5 And the Egyptians shall know that I am the Lord, when I stretch forth mine hand upon Egypt, and bring out the children of Israel from among them.

6 And Moses and Aaron did as the Lord commanded them, so did they.

7 And Moses was fourscore years old, and Aaron fourscore and three years old, when they spake unto Pharaoh.

8 And the Lord spake unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying,

9 When Pharaoh shall speak unto you, saying, Shew a miracle for you: then thou shalt say unto Aaron, Take thy rod, and cast it before Pharaoh, and it shall become a serpent.

10 And Moses and Aaron went in unto Pharaoh, and they did so as the Lord had commanded: and Aaron cast down his rod before Pharaoh, and before his servants, and it became a serpent.

11 Then Pharaoh also called the wise men and the sorcerers: now the magicians of Egypt, they also did in like manner with their enchantments.

12 For they cast down every man his rod, and they became serpents: but Aaron’s rod swallowed up their rods.

13 And he hardened Pharaoh’s heart, that he hearkened not unto them; as the Lord had said.

14 And the Lord said unto Moses, Pharaoh’s heart is hardened, he refuseth to let the people go.

15 Get thee unto Pharaoh in the morning; lo, he goeth out unto the water; and thou shalt stand by the river’s brink against he come; and the rod which was turned to a serpent shalt thou take in thine hand.

16 And thou shalt say unto him, The Lord God of the Hebrews hath sent me unto thee, saying, Let my people go, that they may serve me in the wilderness: and, behold, hitherto thou wouldest not hear.

17 Thus saith the Lord, In this thou shalt know that I am the Lord: behold, I will smite with the rod that is in mine hand upon the waters which are in the river, and they shall be turned to blood.

18 And the fish that is in the river shall die, and the river shall stink; and the Egyptians shall lothe to drink of the water of the river.

19 And the Lord spake unto Moses, Say unto Aaron, Take thy rod, and stretch out thine hand upon the waters of Egypt, upon their streams, upon their rivers, and upon their ponds, and upon all their pools of water, that they may become blood; and that there may be blood throughout all the land of Egypt, both in vessels of wood, and in vessels of stone.

20 And Moses and Aaron did so, as the Lord commanded; and he lifted up the rod, and smote the waters that were in the river, in the sight of Pharaoh, and in the sight of his servants; and all the waters that were in the river were turned to blood.

21 And the fish that was in the river died; and the river stank, and the Egyptians could not drink of the water of the river; and there was blood throughout all the land of Egypt.

22 And the magicians of Egypt did so with their enchantments: and Pharaoh’s heart was hardened, neither did he hearken unto them; as the Lord had said.

23 And Pharaoh turned and went into his house, neither did he set his heart to this also.

24 And all the Egyptians digged round about the river for water to drink; for they could not drink of the water of the river.

25 And seven days were fulfilled, after that the Lord had smitten the river.

  1. In the beginning of this chapter we see how God can use anybody (no matter your age) as he used Moses and Aaron. Verse 6-7 NLT says “So Moses and Aaron did just as the Lord had commanded them. Moses was eighty years old, and Aaron was eighty-three when they made their demands to Pharaoh. God will be with us in our obedience to His commandments and will send us equipped with what we need to fulfill them.

  2. 3 And I will harden Pharaoh’s heart, and multiply my signs and my wonders in the land of Egypt.

Every detail is for the glorifying of my GOD!
HE ALWAYS GETS THE GLORY!!! HALELUJAH!!!
JESUS YOU ARE SOOOO WORTHY!!! I LOVE YOU DADDY!!!

  3. 10. And Moses and Aaron went in unto Pharaoh, and they did so as the Lord had commanded: and Aaron cast down his rod before Pharaoh, and before his servants, and it became a serpent.
    11. Then Pharaoh also called the wise men and the sorcerers: now the magicians of Egypt, they also did in like manner with their enchantments.

    21. And the fish that was in the river died; and the river stank, and the Egyptians could not drink of the water of the river; and there was blood throughout all the land of Egypt.
    22. And the magicians of Egypt did so with their enchantments: and Pharaoh’s heart was hardened, neither did he hearken unto them; as the Lord had said.

Many parents are deceived into thinking that there’s nothing wrong with their children playing with ouija boards or abra-cadabra games, but they are only introductions into the very real and dangerous trap of witchcraft and sorcery of which many never return.

  4. Gods will above all

At first it seemed odd that God would harden Pharaoh’s heart to further display His power. However, God looks out for His own people above those who choose not to serve Him. Therefore I believe there are two reasons that God hardened Pharaoh’s heart; prove His power and Prove He is the One God. Don’t get me wrong I understand that His ways are not my ways and my thinking is not His thinking. To better understand what I am reading this is what works for me. Pharaoh had already decided the Israelites were not people who could be trusted. God used that premonition to further illustrate His power.

Additionally, who are we to stand in front of God and say I will or I won’t do this or that?
Romans 9:20-33 Who in the world do you think you are to second-guess God? Do you for one moment suppose any of us knows enough to call God into question? Clay doesn’t talk back to the fingers that mold it, saying, “Why did you shape me like this?” Isn’t it obvious that a potter has a perfect right to shape one lump of clay into a vase for holding flowers and another into a pot for cooking beans? If God needs one style of pottery especially designed to show his angry displeasure and another style carefully crafted to show his glorious goodness, isn’t that all right? MSG

  5. 7 And Moses was fourscore years old, and Aaron fourscore and three years old, when they spake unto Pharaoh.

Moses was 80, and Aaron was 83, and they were just getting started. Today we see our elders (from age 50-60) as being at point of settling down and readying for retirement, but these two are just getting started. What if we took he approach that as we neared the end of our secular jobs, by retirement, that we positioned ourselves to do more for His kingdom, and stop living so much for ours? What if we paid a little more attention to the elders in our lives now, and worried more about their salvation?

  6. Just as God predicted the first miracles Moses preforms are duplicated by Egypt’s magicians and a hard hearted Pharaoh refuses to listen. The stage is set for a devastating Series of divine judgment which will force Pharaoh to capitulate to the God of his slaves.

  7. 12 For they cast down every man his rod, and they became serpents: but Aaron’s rod swallowed up their rods.

The real deal. Gods work will always out do the cheap copies. Satan has only ever been able to mimick what God does. He reflected Gods glory in heaven and still today he can only copy what God does. He is no original. Gods word and power will always overcome satan.

  8. iLove to eat More Word
14Then the lord said to Moses, “Pharaoh’s heart is stubborn, and he still refuses to let the people go.

We must be careful not to be hard hearted and stubborn like Pharaoh was. When we hear the Word of the Lord through the man of God lets listen and be obedient instead of facing unnecessary consequences

  9. BUT GOD

Obedience is the key element in the success of any GOD ordained endeavor. The LORD told Moses and Aaron what to do and how to accomplish it. Their obedience opened the door for the LORD to work through Aaron’s rod.

Aaron was not responsible for his rod swallowing up the magicians serpents, Aaron was responsible for obeying the voice of the LORD and being positioned for the LORD to work through the rod. that was in his hand.

Our obedience positions us to witness the wonderful works of GOD.

  10. The counterfeit

22 And the magicians of Egypt did so with their enchantments: and Pharaoh’s heart was hardened, neither did he hearken unto them; as the Lord had said.

The enemy has alway tried to imitate these works of God. We see in our world today the same things. The men of God are anointed to speak and move the people closer to the Lord, on the other hand there are grey orators in the world that could sell anything to anyone. There are godly musicians that are anointed to move the hearts of men and get the attention of God, on the other hand there are people like Gaga that can get people to do ridiculous things at the sound of her voice. We will always deal with the counterfeit until He returns. Our job till then is to know the difference and swallow up the fake.

12 For they cast down every man his rod, and they became serpents: but Aaron’s rod swallowed up their rods.

  11. Exodus 7:4-5
    4) But Pharaoh shall not hearken unto you, that I may lay my hand upon Egypt, and bring forth mine armies, and my people the children of Israel, out of the land of Egypt by great judgments.
    5) And the Egyptians shall know that I am the Lord, when I stretch forth mine hand upon Egypt, and bring out the children of Israel from among them.

Do you you remember what Ex.5:2 said? “And Pharaoh said, Who is the Lord, that I should obey his voice to let Israel go? I know not the Lord, neither will I let Israel go.”
Well, God is getting ready to show the Egyptians just who He is. That He is the Lord. Isaiah 45:5a says, “I am the LORD, and there is none else, there is no God beside me:…”

  12. 12 Each one threw down his staff and it became a snake. But Aaron’s staff swallowed up their staffs. (NLT)

With every command the Lord had, the Bible says Moses and Aaron did just as He said. If we are obedient, God will always be there for us, just like in verse 12. Moses and Aaron were probably just expecting to throw down the rod show the snake and then pick it right back up, but God worked beyond that to show His power and authority.

  13. 16 And thou shalt say unto him, The Lord God of the Hebrews hath sent me unto thee, saying, Let my people go, that they may serve me in the wilderness: and, behold, hitherto thou wouldest not hear.

Just like Moses, God has called us unto his people, our neighbors and the people in our communities. And God is telling us to tell the Pharoh of our land to “let my people go” The spirits of our city are tryng to deceive and intimidate the people here to keep them from hearing the truth, and from hearing the gospel of Christ. It is our job to help pray for the lost, that these spirits will let them go, so they can be free, and they can hear the truth freely.

  14. 4 But Pharaoh shall not hearken unto you, that I may lay my hand upon Egypt, and bring forth mine armies, and my people the children of Israel, out of the land of Egypt by great judgments.

5 And the Egyptians shall know that I am the Lord, when I stretch forth mine hand upon Egypt, and bring out the children of Israel from among them.

Sometimes the test we are going through are for our benefit and sometimes it is for the benefit of someone else, we are just the instrument God is using. In our chapter today God used Pharaoh to raise up a mighty army of Israelites. It was the hardness of the task masters and built their character and integrity and prepared them for the journey to the promised land.

We are all on a journey to our promised land…..eternity. If we can have the proper mindset of why we are being tested, and know that God is working all things for our good, it gives us a different perspective of the journey.

  15. 8 And the Lord spake unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying,

I love how God told them what they should do and when they did Pharoah was like my magicians can do it too, but I wonder what Pharaoh’s thought was when Aarons rod ate not one but all of their rods… Yes God Harden Pharaoh’s heart, but even he had to give some thought to how powerful and mighty our God is.

  16. 3 And I will harden Pharaoh’s heart, and multiply my signs and my wonders in the land of Egypt.
4 But Pharaoh shall not hearken unto you, that I may lay my hand upon Egypt, and bring forth mine armies, and my people the children of Israel, out of the land of Egypt by great judgments.

There’s nothing new under the sun.

Wow. As we see how America is becoming. We can see many resemblances. America needs to wake up and reach out to God. We must turn our hearts to God fully. Let’s be the light to this world.

  17. No Weapon formed against me shall prosper

12 For they cast down every man his rod, and they became serpents: but Aaron’s rod swallowed up their rods.

The enemy may come with his weapons but GOD weapons will ALWAYS swallow them up. The enemy will always be a wanna be, try to be, a fake, a falsified copy. The enemy will NEVER EVER COME close to my GOD!!! Next time he comes at you like a flood show him YOU HAVE A LEVY CALLED GOD JESUS CHRIST WILL NEVER LEAVE YOU NOR FORSAKES YOU, THE LIFTER OF YOUR HEAD!!!! Hallelujah Jesus Christ is LORD!!!

  18. 3 And I will harden Pharaoh’s heart, and multiply my signs and my wonders in the land of Egypt.

Why did God harden Pharaoh’s heart?

The direct and simple answer: In order to demonstrate His power, and in order that His name might be proclaimed throughout the entire earth

Exodus 9:16 And in very deed for this cause have I raised thee up, for to shew in thee my power; and that my name may be declared throughout all the earth.

  19. 22But again the magicians of Egypt used their magic, and they, too, turned water into blood. So Pharaoh’s heart remained hard. He refused to listen to Moses and Aaron, just as the LORD had predicted.

How were the magicians able to do some of the same tricks as Moses? I assume, God allowed them to perform some of these tricks only to be exposed to their weekness. As Moses serpent swallowed up their serpent. Men can only deceive other men with tricks, but God will show us miracles during when we least expect it.

  20. 12 For they cast down every man his rod, and they became serpents: but Aaron’s rod swallowed up their rods.

It doesn’t matter how many situations we have in our life, we serve a God that is bigger than any situation!! Trust and obey Him and it won’t matter what the devil throws against you!

  21. “These are they which spake to Pharaoh king of Egypt, to bring out the children of Israel from Egypt: these are that Moses and Aaron.” The word of God (Jesus) gave many names, however two were repeated. What matters most is not that the world knows ones name, but that God does. Dear God, help us (me) to be obedient too you before self, which is a requirement too one day hear you say “these are that”; “Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done”. “In GOD we trust”. “One Nation under GOD, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all”. What a mighty GOD we serve! Thank GOD for his word. GOD bless America, Jerusalem, and you all in JESUS name, Amen!

  22. “speak all that I command thee”

2 Thou shalt speak all that I command thee: and Aaron thy brother shall speak unto Pharaoh, that he send the children of Israel out of his land.

It is very important to notice that in verse 3 the Bible says that Pharohs heart was hardened but in verse 2 God tells him that he will give him the words to speak.

As we continue to do the will of God, He will give us the words to speak and even when hearts are hard they are not going against our word but the Word of God.

  23. The devi will always try to copy what God has done. He can’t even come close. Don’t be fooled by what the enemy tries to place before you. God has a plan, it’s best to follow it.

  24. 5 And the Egyptians shall know that I am the Lord, when I stretch forth mine hand upon Egypt, and bring out the children of Israel from among them.

6 And Moses and Aaron did as the Lord commanded them, so did they.
Regardless of knowing God’s plan or not, we should trust Him wholeheartedly. He will follow through to the end.

  25. 12 For they cast down every man his rod, and they became serpents: but
Satan can imitate some works of God and lead people astray . Pharaoh had only focused on the miracle on the miracle not the message , we can avoid this by lettering the base of are faith in God .

  26. “”Then the Egyptians will know that I am the Lord. I will reach out my powerful hand against Egypt. I will bring the people of Israel out of it.””
    ‭‭Exodus‬ ‭7:5‬ ‭NIRV‬‬

The Lord was going to deliver Israel but at the same time show the Egyptians who was King of kings and Lord of lords. He was rolling up his sleeve bearing his might arm.

  27. 3But I will harden Pharaoh’s heart, and though I multiply my signs and wonders in Egypt,

First God tells Moses that he is going to make him look like a god to Pharoah because the nation of Wgypt is filled with witchcraft and do not know the true God of Israel. In fact the Lord is going to make himself so well known to Egypt and Pharoah that he will garden his heart. So that he will reveal Himself Almighty with each plague starting with turning the water to blood the first plauge we see here.

  28. “Even then Pharaoh will refuse to listen to you. So I will bring down my fist on Egypt. Then I will rescue my forces—my people, the Israelites—from the land of Egypt with great acts of judgment. When I raise my powerful hand and bring out the Israelites, the Egyptians will know that I am the LORD.””
    ‭‭Exodus‬ ‭7:4-5‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Sometimes it takes a little more work on people to see that God is really God and He’s in control. So when you are trying to win a soul and bring them to God continue to pray for them because the farther someone goes or even leaves God…..Its going to get tougher and sometimes God has to be harder on individuals for them to see. But that shows us how much He loves us that He would try harder just for us to come to Him. There is No Love Like GODS!!!!

  29. “Go, gather together all the Jews that are present in Shushan, and fast ye for me, and neither eat nor drink three days, night or day: I also and my maidens will fast likewise; and so will I go in unto the king, which is not according to the law: and if I perish, I perish.”
    ‭‭Esther‬ ‭4:16‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Not sure why, but it made me think of Esther. In these situations the people were in dire situations and they needed the favor of God. Esther’s group was able to fast on their own for their leader. The children of Israel and all the rest of the inhabitants of the land of Egypt had no choice but to have no water until the Lord allowed he clear we’re to return. I would rather voulentarily give something up for a shorter period of time than to be forced to give something up for a longer while.

  30. 10 And Moses and Aaron went in unto Pharaoh, and they did so as the Lord had commanded: and Aaron cast down his rod before Pharaoh, and before his servants, and it became a serpent.

They devil is a copy cat that cannot do anything byhimslef. We see here how the miraculous things that Moses was doing ny God’s power are copies by the witchcraft of the enemy. The tries to do this to discredit the power of God but he can’t put up a real fight. There is no substitute for the Truth the word of God and his doctrine. Dont be decieved for God’s truth will consume the fake. Know the real word that you may not be decived by flattery

  31. 7 And Moses was fourscore years old, and Aaron fourscore and three years old, when they spake unto Pharaoh.

Glory!!! 80 years old (the age of an elder)! just comes to show how much we need elders!!! I had never been shown to respect an elder so much like I do now. Elders are the guidance that the younger ones, we need the guidance and corrections when doing right and wrong. Elders have lived and experienced life when the younger generations are barely experiencing life. I’ve always thought to myself, if I know the easy way of things I rather someone tell me than me struggle, do the wrong things, have consequences, and then learn the correct way. Lets motivate and appreciate our elders because they are a true gift from God. Glory!!!!

  32. Exodus 7:17 (NLT)

So this is what the Lord says: “I will show you that I am the Lord.” Look! I will strike the water of the Nile with this staff in my hand, and the river will turn to blood.

It started with blood. It ends with blood. Without blood there is no remission or forgiveness of sins. The Lord was establishing a principle that would be upheld throughout the entire course of human history.

A blood covenant means if one breaks the covenant blood is required. Life is in the blood. Life is required.

  33. v21 And the fish that was in the river died; and the river stank, and the Egyptians could not drink of the water of the river; and there was blood throughout all the land of Egypt.

The Egyptians were depending on the all mighty river of Nile.

GOD WANTS US TO DEPEND UPON HIM.

  34. 13 And he hardened Pharaoh’s heart, that he hearkened not unto them; as the Lord had said.

This verse reminds me of Romans 1:28, “And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;”

Every thing God did in Egypt, he did so show them that he was God, and with all wonders and such display of power, they still did not worship him or acknowledge him, so God hardened Pharaohs heart.
I ask, can we abused grace? Can we push God to give us over to Satan?

I’m reminded of Romans 5:20, where sin abound, grace did much more abound! We all have hope no matter how deep we are in sin, what we can’t control is life or death. So if your in sin, do not tarry to get right with God, because death is always around the corner. To sinners damnation, to saint reward.

  35. “Thus says the LORD: “By this you shall know that I am the LORD. Behold, I will strike the waters which are in the river with the rod that is in my hand, and they shall be turned to blood.”(Exodus‬ ‭7:17‬ ‭NKJV‬‬)

Thus saith the Lord almighty, in this thou shalt know that I am the Lord,…. By the following instance of Gods power and vengeance, He said behold I will smite with the rod that is in my hand; which though in the hand of Moses, yet he being his ambassador, and representing him, is said to be in the hand of the Lord; and with this he threatens to smite, upon the waters which are in the river; the river Nile, and the canals thereof, thy shall be turned to blood!! In Jesus Name !!!
