Exodus 12

1 And the Lord spake unto Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt saying,

2 This month shall be unto you the beginning of months: it shall be the first month of the year to you.

3 Speak ye unto all the congregation of Israel, saying, In the tenth day of this month they shall take to them every man a lamb, according to the house of their fathers, a lamb for an house:

4 And if the household be too little for the lamb, let him and his neighbour next unto his house take it according to the number of the souls; every man according to his eating shall make your count for the lamb.

5 Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of the first year: ye shall take it out from the sheep, or from the goats:

6 And ye shall keep it up until the fourteenth day of the same month: and the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill it in the evening.

7 And they shall take of the blood, and strike it on the two side posts and on the upper door post of the houses, wherein they shall eat it.

8 And they shall eat the flesh in that night, roast with fire, and unleavened bread; and with bitter herbs they shall eat it.

9 Eat not of it raw, nor sodden at all with water, but roast with fire; his head with his legs, and with the purtenance thereof.

10 And ye shall let nothing of it remain until the morning; and that which remaineth of it until the morning ye shall burn with fire.

11 And thus shall ye eat it; with your loins girded, your shoes on your feet, and your staff in your hand; and ye shall eat it in haste: it is the Lord’s passover.

12 For I will pass through the land of Egypt this night, and will smite all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment: I am the Lord.

13 And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt.

14 And this day shall be unto you for a memorial; and ye shall keep it a feast to the Lord throughout your generations; ye shall keep it a feast by an ordinance for ever.

15 Seven days shall ye eat unleavened bread; even the first day ye shall put away leaven out of your houses: for whosoever eateth leavened bread from the first day until the seventh day, that soul shall be cut off from Israel.

16 And in the first day there shall be an holy convocation, and in the seventh day there shall be an holy convocation to you; no manner of work shall be done in them, save that which every man must eat, that only may be done of you.

17 And ye shall observe the feast of unleavened bread; for in this selfsame day have I brought your armies out of the land of Egypt: therefore shall ye observe this day in your generations by an ordinance for ever.

18 In the first month, on the fourteenth day of the month at even, ye shall eat unleavened bread, until the one and twentieth day of the month at even.

19 Seven days shall there be no leaven found in your houses: for whosoever eateth that which is leavened, even that soul shall be cut off from the congregation of Israel, whether he be a stranger, or born in the land.

20 Ye shall eat nothing leavened; in all your habitations shall ye eat unleavened bread.

21 Then Moses called for all the elders of Israel, and said unto them, Draw out and take you a lamb according to your families, and kill the passover.

22 And ye shall take a bunch of hyssop, and dip it in the blood that is in the bason, and strike the lintel and the two side posts with the blood that is in the bason; and none of you shall go out at the door of his house until the morning.

23 For the Lord will pass through to smite the Egyptians; and when he seeth the blood upon the lintel, and on the two side posts, the Lord will pass over the door, and will not suffer the destroyer to come in unto your houses to smite you.

24 And ye shall observe this thing for an ordinance to thee and to thy sons for ever.

25 And it shall come to pass, when ye be come to the land which the Lord will give you, according as he hath promised, that ye shall keep this service.

26 And it shall come to pass, when your children shall say unto you, What mean ye by this service?

27 That ye shall say, It is the sacrifice of the Lord’s passover, who passed over the houses of the children of Israel in Egypt, when he smote the Egyptians, and delivered our houses. And the people bowed the head and worshipped.

28 And the children of Israel went away, and did as the Lord had commanded Moses and Aaron, so did they.

29 And it came to pass, that at midnight the Lord smote all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, from the firstborn of Pharaoh that sat on his throne unto the firstborn of the captive that was in the dungeon; and all the firstborn of cattle.

30 And Pharaoh rose up in the night, he, and all his servants, and all the Egyptians; and there was a great cry in Egypt; for there was not a house where there was not one dead.

31 And he called for Moses and Aaron by night, and said, Rise up, and get you forth from among my people, both ye and the children of Israel; and go, serve the Lord, as ye have said.

32 Also take your flocks and your herds, as ye have said, and be gone; and bless me also.

33 And the Egyptians were urgent upon the people, that they might send them out of the land in haste; for they said, We be all dead men.

34 And the people took their dough before it was leavened, their kneadingtroughs being bound up in their clothes upon their shoulders.

35 And the children of Israel did according to the word of Moses; and they borrowed of the Egyptians jewels of silver, and jewels of gold, and raiment:

36 And the Lord gave the people favour in the sight of the Egyptians, so that they lent unto them such things as they required. And they spoiled the Egyptians.

37 And the children of Israel journeyed from Rameses to Succoth, about six hundred thousand on foot that were men, beside children.

38 And a mixed multitude went up also with them; and flocks, and herds, even very much cattle.

39 And they baked unleavened cakes of the dough which they brought forth out of Egypt, for it was not leavened; because they were thrust out of Egypt, and could not tarry, neither had they prepared for themselves any victual.

40 Now the sojourning of the children of Israel, who dwelt in Egypt, was four hundred and thirty years.

41 And it came to pass at the end of the four hundred and thirty years, even the selfsame day it came to pass, that all the hosts of the Lord went out from the land of Egypt.

42 It is a night to be much observed unto the Lord for bringing them out from the land of Egypt: this is that night of the Lord to be observed of all the children of Israel in their generations.

43 And the Lord said unto Moses and Aaron, This is the ordinance of the passover: There shall no stranger eat thereof:

44 But every man’s servant that is bought for money, when thou hast circumcised him, then shall he eat thereof.

45 A foreigner and an hired servant shall not eat thereof.

46 In one house shall it be eaten; thou shalt not carry forth ought of the flesh abroad out of the house; neither shall ye break a bone thereof.

47 All the congregation of Israel shall keep it.

48 And when a stranger shall sojourn with thee, and will keep the passover to the Lord, let all his males be circumcised, and then let him come near and keep it; and he shall be as one that is born in the land: for no uncircumcised person shall eat thereof.

49 One law shall be to him that is homeborn, and unto the stranger that sojourneth among you.

50 Thus did all the children of Israel; as the Lord commanded Moses and Aaron, so did they.

51 And it came to pass the selfsame day, that the Lord did bring the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt by their armies.

  1. 11 And thus shall ye eat it; with your loins girded, your shoes on your feet, and your staff in your hand; and ye shall eat it in haste: it is the Lord’s passover.

It is the Lord’s Passover and you shall eat it in haste. We need to understand that this is time for us to stand up and be strong, when we are faced with obstacles in our way. Life will bring things everyday and we need to eat this Passover with faith and hope of a better life. Not with fear but with Faith that this will be our time!

  2. Bread made without yeast speaks of purity. Yet the significance of such bread is an aid to rembering the haste with which Israel finally left Egypt so quickly there was no time for bread to rise
The plant Hyssop was chosen for.the thick roots which make it a.good.sprinkler us

  3. 31 And he called for Moses and Aaron by night, and said, Rise up, and get you forth from among my people, both ye and the children of Israel; and go, serve the Lord, as ye have said.

amen RISE!!!!!! Get up to serve the Lord… doing everything unto a s if it was for Him. Lets give Him our very best and serve Him especially in these last days. …I fortify you Jesus always forever and forever!!!!!

  4. 21. Then Moses called for all the elders of Israel, and said unto them, Draw out and take you a lamb according to your families, and kill the passover.

    22. And ye shall take a bunch of hyssop, and dip it in the blood that is in the bason, and strike the lintel and the two side posts with the blood that is in the bason; and none of you shall go out at the door of his house until the morning.

Even after they sacrificed the spotless lamb, if they didn’t apply the blood, the death angel would still come.

Jesus already gave himself as the Sacrificial Lamb for us, but if we don’t apply His blood to our lives, we will still die in our sins.

  5. It is THE BLOOD!!!!!!

7 And they shall take of the blood, and strike it on the two side posts and on the upper door post of the houses, wherein they shall eat it.

It was the blood on t the lamb that kept them safe. Today, IT IS STILL THE BLOOD OF THE HOLY LAMB that keeps us safe. Thank God for the Blood that NEVER loses its POWER. I am so thankful for His Blood that washes us white as snow.

  6. Hmm exodus 12:7 & 13
    7) And they shall take the blood, and strike it on the two side posts and on the upper door post of the houses, wherein they shall eat it.
    13) And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt.

Just as the children of Israel had to apply the blood to the door posts of their homes to be safe, we must apply the blood of Jesus Christ to our lives to be safe.

Thank You JESUS for your blood!

  7. In reading this chapter this morning, it made me think of how important following God’s commandments is. Many try to pick and choose which ones they want to follow. There was so much detail in the way the Israelites where to prepare and partake of the Passover. Obedience in every detail is crucial to receiving your promise as we see in verses 24-27 NLT “Remember, these instructions are a permanent law that you and your descendants must observe forever. When you enter the land the Lord has promised to give you, you will continue to observe this ceremony. Then your children will ask, ‘What does this ceremony mean?’ And you will reply, ‘It is the Passover sacrifice to the Lord, for he passed over the houses of the Israelites in Egypt. And though he struck the Egyptians, he spared our families.’” When Moses had finished speaking, all the people bowed down to the ground and worshiped.”

  8. A TOKEN OF SACRIFICE: THE BLOOD OF THE LAMB

13 And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt.

The escape from bondage for the children of Israel required some WORK on their part, their deliverance also required detailed obedience. I am persuaded that the deliverance of the last day church will require the same. GOD has a plan. We must follow it and work HIS plan for our anticipated deliverance from the bondage of this world.

The LAMB has already been sacrificed, we must apply HIM to our lives for a token.

Revelation 5:10 And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.
    11 And I beheld, and I heard the voice of many angels round about the throne and the beasts and the elders: and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands;
12 Saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing.
13 And every creature which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, heard I saying, Blessing, and honour, and glory, and power, be unto him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb for ever and ever.

Those that refuse salvation will worship the beast.

evelation 13:6 And he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme his name, and his tabernacle, and them that dwell in heaven.
7 And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations.
8 And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.

  9. 50 So all the people of Israel followed all the Lord’s commands to Moses and Aaron.
51 On that very day the Lord brought the people of Israel out of the land of Egypt like an army. (NLT)

They were obedient so God kept His promise to bring them out of bondage. Hmm, what a novel idea…! Amazing where a little obedience will get you!

  10. iLove to eat More Word
12 For I will pass through the land of Egypt this night, and will smite all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment: I am the Lord.

The Lord executed judgement on the gods of Egypt. Many times in our life God will execute the idols in our lives as he did to the Egyptians. God is the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords and there is none other. He is a jealous God.

  11. 5 Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of the first year: ye shall take it out from the sheep, or from the goats:

Thank you Jesus for dying for all of us. The lambs”Israel” and the goats”Gentiles”.

  12. 51 And it came to pass the selfsame day, that the Lord did bring the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt by their armies.

  13. Exodus 12: 37 The Israelite journeyed from Rameses to Sukkoth. There were about six hundred thousand men on foot, besides women and children. Mandy other people went up with them and also large droves of livestock both flocks and herds. With the dough the Israelites had brought from Egypt they basked loaves of unleavened bread. The dough was without yeast because they had been driven out of Egypt and did not have time to prepare food for themselves. Now the length of time the Israelite people lived in Egypt was 430 years.

  14. Are you covered by the blood?

This is the question we should ask ourselves often. The covering of his blood, protects us from the things the enemy throws at us. His blood is what washes us. It’s important that we stay covered because you never know when you’ll get into a situation and will need his power to keep you. Thank God for the blood.

  15. v28 And the children of Israel went away, and did as the LORD had commanded Moses and Aaron, so did they.

It always pays off to be obedient.

  16. Exodus 12:3-4 (KJV Strong’s)

We do not know who all is going to come in the building. Many people may be inexperienced in spiritual things. Many do not know how to get hold of God. This scripture speaks that one lamb covered two houses with small families.

I believe that we can offer up sacrifices of praise and thanksgiving into God in stead of our guests. We create the atmosphere and set the stage for the miraculous to be done in people’s lives!

  17. 7 That ye shall say, It is the sacrifice of the Lord’s passover, who passed over the houses of the children of Israel in Egypt, when he smote the Egyptians, and delivered our houses. And the people bowed the head and worshipped.

  18. A New Begining

1 And the Lord spake unto Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt saying,

2 This month shall be unto you the beginning of months: it shall be the first month of the year to you.

Even before Israel had left Egypt, God proclaimed a new beginning for them. He told Moses and Aaron: “this is the beginning of a new season, this is the beginning of your new year.” Even before we are able to walk out of difficult or wrong situations, God has a new beginning ready for us. The first Passover follows immediately after these verses and the Lord institutes a new covering of Blood to save His people. In completion, this chapter ends with deliverance from Israel’s place of bondage:

51 And it came to pass the selfsame day, that the Lord did bring the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt by their armies.

A new season, a new hope, a new life is what God gave Israel and is what He make available to us today.

  19. 7 And they shall take of the blood, and strike it on the two side posts and on the upper door post of the houses, wherein they shall eat it.

The ultimate sacrifice has been made for our salvation. Thank you for your blood Jesus that covers and washes away our sin.

  20. The Lamb without blemish, and the blood of the lamb. A male of the first year. Does this remind you of anyone we know! Whom is THE LAMB without blemish for us, and who’s blood cleanses us and should be applied in faith upon our doors or homes, and who’s blood sacrifice cleanses our sins. We all know who this represents the FIRST Born Son, of man, and of the NEW Covenant. The only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, our perfect lamb, and his blood still heals & cleanses us today.

Thank God Almighty for the blood of the Lamb Jesus Christ………………..

    “Plead the Blood”………………….”ONE GOD”…………………………………….

  21. 26 And it shall come to pass, when your children shall say unto you, What mean ye by this service? 27 That ye shall say, It is the sacrifice of the Lord’s passover, who passed over the houses of the children of Israel in Egypt, when he smote the Egyptians, and delivered our houses. And the people bowed the head and worshipped.

The word of God (Jesus) was clear on what they were too say, when their children asked. One shall also be accountable to the Judge (Jesus) for what one did or did not say. Dear God, forgive us (me) for our (my) negligence and bless our (my) children with knowledge of you; “Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done”. “In GOD we trust”. “One Nation under GOD, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all”. What a mighty GOD we serve! Thank GOD for his word. GOD bless America, Jerusalem, and you all in JESUS name, Amen!

  22. “The Israelites then went and did what GOD had commanded Moses and Aaron. They did it all.”
    ‭‭Exodus‬ ‭12:28‬ ‭MSG‬‬
    http://bible.com/97/exo.12.28.msg

Without question the people obeyed the commandments given to them. I wonder how often we question Gods intentions before we do as he commands…

  23. 7 And they shall take of the blood, and strike it on the two side posts and on the upper door post of the houses, wherein they shall eat it.

This typifies what should happen in our lives. We should apply the blood of Jesus through repentance and baptism in Jesus name. Then allow the fire of the Holy Spirit consume us and burn out of us anything of the world that remains.

  24. “Thus did all the children of Israel; as the Lord commanded Moses and Aaron, so did they. And it came to pass the selfsame day, that the Lord did bring the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt by their armies.”
    ‭‭Exodus‬ ‭12:50-51‬ ‭KJV
Oh following the voice of your leader.

  25. “”Obey all of these directions. It’s a law for you and your children after you for all time to come. The Lord will give you the land, just as he promised. When you enter it, keep this holy day.”
    ‭‭Exodus‬ ‭12:24-25‬ ‭NIRV‬‬

Obedience is what will save us.

  26. When God repeats “I will” (vs 12&13) He means business. It is said in Isaiah 55:11 “So is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.” When God says it’s time for judgment to come His will, will be done. Lucifer tried to mimick God in his own will saying “I will ascend above the tops of the clouds;I will make myself like the Most High.”15But you are brought down to the realm of the dead,to the depths of the pit.” It’s important to pay attention to the instruction God sets for us like He is here for the passover. He is going to move and we can chose to be with Him or agaist Him.

  27. 13 And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt.

Just like how the blood of lamb allowed the Israelites to be saved during the plague that swept over Egypt, Jesus’ blood allows us to be free from sin!

  28. 13 The blood will be a sign for you on the houses where you are, and when I see the blood, I will pass over you. No destructive plague will touch you when I strike Egypt.

God is giving His people specific instructions on how He will identify who they are as He passes over them. The blood of the lamb that the Israelites put on the door post here is also being used to show their obedience. When we have the blood of Jesus applied to our lives He will also be able to identify who we are by His Holy Spirit living in us. We are in this world but we are to live seperated from it. The Egyptians are getting a fair warning that the Lord will come in the night and execute judgment. When He returns for his bride the church, she is to be without spot or blemish that he may identify her and when He does we will neither know the day nor hour. We simply have to be ready.
