Exodus 22

1 If a man shall steal an ox, or a sheep, and kill it, or sell it; he shall restore five oxen for an ox, and four sheep for a sheep.

2 If a thief be found breaking up, and be smitten that he die, there shall no blood be shed for him.

3 If the sun be risen upon him, there shall be blood shed for him; for he should make full restitution; if he have nothing, then he shall be sold for his theft.

4 If the theft be certainly found in his hand alive, whether it be ox, or ass, or sheep; he shall restore double.

5 If a man shall cause a field or vineyard to be eaten, and shall put in his beast, and shall feed in another man’s field; of the best of his own field, and of the best of his own vineyard, shall he make restitution.

6 If fire break out, and catch in thorns, so that the stacks of corn, or the standing corn, or the field, be consumed therewith; he that kindled the fire shall surely make restitution.

7 If a man shall deliver unto his neighbour money or stuff to keep, and it be stolen out of the man’s house; if the thief be found, let him pay double.

8 If the thief be not found, then the master of the house shall be brought unto the judges, to see whether he have put his hand unto his neighbour’s goods.

9 For all manner of trespass, whether it be for ox, for ass, for sheep, for raiment, or for any manner of lost thing which another challengeth to be his, the cause of both parties shall come before the judges; and whom the judges shall condemn, he shall pay double unto his neighbour.

10 If a man deliver unto his neighbour an ass, or an ox, or a sheep, or any beast, to keep; and it die, or be hurt, or driven away, no man seeing it:

11 Then shall an oath of the Lord be between them both, that he hath not put his hand unto his neighbour’s goods; and the owner of it shall accept thereof, and he shall not make it good.

12 And if it be stolen from him, he shall make restitution unto the owner thereof.

13 If it be torn in pieces, then let him bring it for witness, and he shall not make good that which was torn.

14 And if a man borrow ought of his neighbour, and it be hurt, or die, the owner thereof being not with it, he shall surely make it good.

15 But if the owner thereof be with it, he shall not make it good: if it be an hired thing, it came for his hire.

16 And if a man entice a maid that is not betrothed, and lie with her, he shall surely endow her to be his wife.

17 If her father utterly refuse to give her unto him, he shall pay money according to the dowry of virgins.

18 Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live.

19 Whosoever lieth with a beast shall surely be put to death.

20 He that sacrificeth unto any god, save unto the Lord only, he shall be utterly destroyed.

21 Thou shalt neither vex a stranger, nor oppress him: for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt.

22 Ye shall not afflict any widow, or fatherless child.

23 If thou afflict them in any wise, and they cry at all unto me, I will surely hear their cry;

24 And my wrath shall wax hot, and I will kill you with the sword; and your wives shall be widows, and your children fatherless.

25 If thou lend money to any of my people that is poor by thee, thou shalt not be to him as an usurer, neither shalt thou lay upon him usury.

26 If thou at all take thy neighbour’s raiment to pledge, thou shalt deliver it unto him by that the sun goeth down:

27 For that is his covering only, it is his raiment for his skin: wherein shall he sleep? and it shall come to pass, when he crieth unto me, that I will hear; for I am gracious.

28 Thou shalt not revile the gods, nor curse the ruler of thy people.

29 Thou shalt not delay to offer the first of thy ripe fruits, and of thy liquors: the firstborn of thy sons shalt thou give unto me.

30 Likewise shalt thou do with thine oxen, and with thy sheep: seven days it shall be with his dam; on the eighth day thou shalt give it me.

31 And ye shall be holy men unto me: neither shall ye eat any flesh that is torn of beasts in the field; ye shall cast it to the dogs.

  1. 22 Ye shall not afflict any widow, or fatherless child.

    23 If thou afflict them in any wise, and they cry at all unto me, I will surely hear their cry;

24 And my wrath shall wax hot, and I will kill you with the sword; and your wives shall be widows, and your children fatherless.

This is the first account in this chapter where God deals with man about a situation. All other accounts God allows man to make restitution with man. This shows us how He views widows and fatherless. The Bible discribes “pure religion” as visiting the widow and fatherless.

  2. 28 Thou shalt not revile the gods, nor curse the ruler of thy people.

As much as we may not like who is put into power over the United States, lets pray for them and bless them instead of speaking ill. You dont know the great things God can do if you dont call upon him.

  3. 20 He that sacrificeth unto any god, save unto the Lord only, he shall be utterly destroyed.

There is only one true God and his name is Jesus. Any other God is a false God and can cause you to be destroyed. When we worship God, he gives us the strength we need to make it through each day. Iur God has always been a provider and always will be for his people.

  4. 31 And ye shall be holy men unto me: neither shall ye eat any flesh that is torn of beasts in the field; ye shall cast it to the dogs.

“Holy Men” (women)… What a thought. All too often we try to do just as we are told not to do, and compare ourselves amongst ourselves, and we cannot. If we are to Holy, as we are told that we “SHALL BE”, it takes much work.

  5. ZERO TOLERANCE

Exodus 22:18 Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live.

Understanding the principals of the Kingdom of GOD is valuable. A carnal mind would question, if GOD is LOVE, why would he say to take a life?

The answer is simple. JESUS Loves us. He loves us so much that he desires to protect us from the evil influence, negative effects and lifestyle of witchcraft.

Witchcraft is revealed and identified through rebellion.

1Samuel 15:23 For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, he hath also rejected thee from being king.

We are not commanded to go around and kill all the rebellious people in the world, nor to go around and kill all the rebellious people in the world. We are instructed to not allow them to live in our lives.

    Separate yourself from them.

If you see a Brother, Sister, or a family member that is living in open rebellion and operating in socery, (entertaining evil spirits) through rebellion to the WORD of GOD or the man of GOD.

As we see above the LORD cut off Saul the King of Israel. Position and title do not exempt us from obedience.

  6. iLove to eat More Word

1 If a man shall steal an ox, or a sheep, and kill it, or sell it; he shall restore five oxen for an ox, and four sheep for a sheep.

There would probably be a whole lot less thieves in America if we followed the laws that are written in this book.

  7. 20 “Anyone who sacrifices to any god other than the Lord must be destroyed. (NLT)

We serve a jealous God who desires our all. Serve Him with your whole heart because He is worthy of that and so much more.

  8. 1 If a man shall steal an ox, or a sheep, and kill it, or sell it; he shall restore five oxen for an ox, and four sheep for a sheep.

The requirement of the Lord given in the law was for restitution 5 times what was stolen. How much more does the Lord love us, that when we recover something that the enemy has stolen from us, restitution of that and more will come back to us.

  9. 28 Thou shalt not revile the gods, nor curse the ruler of thy people.

Whether you agree or disagree with the current or any past leadership of this country we should hold our personal opinions. We should not curse our leadership. If we like what they are doing we should take actions to ensure they and people that believe as they do remain in leadership. If we disagree with their views we should take action to remove them and other with similar views and replace them with people that we have more faith in. Simply sitting around cursing the way things are and the way a particular person is doing something has no benefit.

  10. Thou shalt not revile the gods, nor curse the ruler of thy people.

Obey them that have the rule over you. Honor them, help them. And let God be pleased with our actions. God is great and awesome God.

  11. 29 Thou shalt not delay to offer the first of thy ripe fruits, and of thy liquors: the firstborn of thy sons shalt thou give unto me.

Praise God! I have 4 first born to give to Jesus.

  12. 21 Thou shalt neither vex a stranger, nor oppress him: for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt.
I love this…To me Hes saying don’t forget where you came from, you were once in this situation, don’t forget how you felt when you were a stranger in a strange land not knowing anyone. Be friendly, and treat them with kindness, make them your friends.
That’s what we do at POFW…I LOVE GOD HOW HE JUST PUTS IT ALL TOGETHER!

  13. Exodus 22:22-23
    22) Ye shall not afflict any widow, or fatherless child.
    23) If thou afflict them in any wise, and they cry at all unto me, I will hear their cry.

Ps. 68:5 says, ” A father of the fatherless, and a judge of the widows, is God in his holy habitation.”

  14. Exodus 22:25 If you kend money to one of my people among you who is needy do not treat it like a business deasl, charge no interest. If you take your neighbor’s cloak as a pledge, return it by sunset, because that cloak is the only covering your neighbor has. What else can they sleep in? When they cry out to me, I will hear for I am compassionate. Do not blaspheme God or curse the ruler of your people. Do not hold back offerings from your granaries of your cats.

  15. 1 If a man shall steal an ox, or a sheep, and kill it, or sell it; he shall restore five oxen for an ox, and four sheep for a sheep.

All that God wants us to do is to live a righteous life. To honor and Glorify him always for the enemy likes to creep in people’s lives.

  16. 28“Do not blaspheme God or curse the ruler of your people.

Blaspheming God is in violation of the 3rd commandment and He is to reign supreme in our lives. Here he mentions not to curse the ruler of your people because he knew the people would eventually demand a ruler like the surrounding nations do. Cursing the ruler only brings more strife because it will effect themselves. Although we may not agree with the person in charge of our nation it does give us the opportunity to pray for him and the matters he is over.

  17. 14“If someone borrows an animal from a neighbor and it is injured or dies when the owner is absent, the person who borrowed it must pay full compensation.

I learned something new. Even the bible tells us to protect the property of others. If you borrow something, return it as it was. So many try to get away for not compensating a borrowed possession that they broke. Like the signs you see when shopping around, “you break, you pay”!

  18. v 31 ” And ye shall be holy men unto me : neither shall ye eat any flesh that is torn of beasts in the field; ye shall cast it to the dogs.

GOD IS HOLY. HE IS THE ONLY WISE GOD. HE tells us what to do, and we have no safe option but to do it.

” How sweet are your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth! I gain understanding from your preccepts; therefore I hate every wrong pasth. Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path”
    Psalms 119:103-105. NIV

  19. 20 He that sacrificeth unto any god, save unto the Lord only, he shall be utterly destroyed
You know we dont pray to idols or worship graven images, but what if your idol is, money, your car, your house, or whatever takes the place of the lord our God we Call Jesus! He died on the cross for us so we can live a Sin free live. We owe the one true God all our praise! Who is your daddy?

  20. 26 If thou at all take thy neighbour’s raiment to pledge, thou shalt deliver it unto him by that the sun goeth down:

As the bible says, yes should mean yes, and no should mean no. Do not say something or promise if you do not mean, or if you’re not sure if you can do it. You need to keep your word.

  21. Exodus 22:21 (Message)

21 “Don’t abuse or take advantage of strangers; you, remember, were once strangers in Egypt.

We all in some form or fashion were Egyptians at one time. Many of us were born into the Kingdom of God at a young age while others came later. This means we should be sympathetic towards the lost souls in the world. We cannot point a condemning finger at them and judge them unrighteously. They need Jesus just like we did once. May God fill our hearts with compassion towards the lost.

  22. The law

The law seems to be common sense to those who would follow it. It reminds me of lines on the road. If there were no lines I would still drive straight and stay to the right but I’ve been on country roads all my life and everyone drives in the middle till someone comes. The law is the same way. The lines are drawn to ensure that when someone else is around no one runs into you. Remove the lines in rush hour and you would be in trouble.

  23. “And ye shall be holy”. The word of the Judge (Jesus), is final; no debate. One should be careful too not single out any one item as all have sinned; Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God. Dear God, forgive me and wash me with your blood Jesus; Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done”. “In God we trust”. “One Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all”. What a mighty God we serve! Thank God for his word. God bless America, Israel, Jerusalem, and you all in Jesus name, Amen!

  24. Today’s society has lost this concept. Too many people want to just blame others and not take responsibility for their own actions. We, the church, must continue to stand for righteousness in our living. We must remain holy in all manners of conversation. We must teach the younger generation that we need to be responsible with our things and with he things that belong to others.

    • 20 He that sacrificeth unto any god, save unto the Lord only, he shall be utterly destroyed.

god doesn’t necessary mean engraved images or idols but anything that takes the place on my Lord Jesus. He should be the first in our list everyday and be sensitive to His Word, touch, and love. Don’t let the things of this world consume you and be so wrapped up. Jesus is the reason why we celebrate Christmas. I am so grateful that my kids are being raised in a TRUE APOSTOLIC DOCTRINE CHURCH for I am not ashamed for the promises of God are YAY AND AMEN!!!!

  25. 20 He that sacrificeth unto any god, save unto the Lord only, he shall be utterly destroyed.

god doesn’t necessary mean idols or engaged images but anything that comes before God. We will be destroyed if we don’t put all of our focus on Jesus, just like how he gives He can easily take away. In this time of season, no gifts, food, stress, family, or anything should take the place of my Lord. He is the reason and that is why I praise you Jesus!!!! Im so thankful that my children are bring raised in a TRUE APOSTOLIC DOCTRINE CHURCH!!!! I am not ashamed of the gospel. HALLELUJAH!!!

  26. 20 He that sacrificeth unto any god, save unto the Lord only, he shall be utterly destroyed.

  28. 29 Thou shalt not delay to offer the first of thy ripe fruits, and of thy liquors: the firstborn of thy sons shalt thou give unto me.

The Lord cares about all of our life’s things. He cares enought to let us know how to live righteously and show us how there are consequences for how we live our lives. We need to remember to offer God first fruits of all things in our lives.

  29. This chapter spoke about compensations, rights and laws. We are to respect others and take care of things (whether you borrow or its theirs). Its all about loving your neighbor and treating others as you would want them to treat you.

  30. 21“Do not mistreat or oppress a foreigner, for you were foreigners in Egypt.

We can compare the foreigner to the first time guest who walks into church broke, busted, and disgusted. The Israelites are being told not to oppress the foreigners that come into their nation because they once were the ones being oppressed by Egypt. Instead we like the Israelites have the opportunity to be hospitable and welcoming to those who are in need. Egypt is a type of the world and those who escape the world need a helping hand of ministry to serve and clean them off to be there and care for them.

  31. not afflict any widow, or fatherless child.

    23 If thou afflict them in any wise, and they cry at all unto me, I will surely hear their cry;

24 And my wrath shall wax hot, and I will kill you with the sword; and your wives shall be widows, and your children fatherless.

This is why we give so much to the community at POFW. The primary area where our buses pick up on a regular basis, full of widows and fatherless children. Most of them grew up with no one to love them, with no one to care for them, or pray for them.
The wrath of God will wax hot against anyone that does anything to these widows and fatherless children.

  32. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Matt 6:33

A God doesn’t have to mean an engraved image or an idol but means anything that comes before my Lord. Jesus is the reason why we’re even alive. Don’t let things of this world consume you with putting God in 2nd or last place because in true reality we can’t even blink without Jesus letting us blink our eyes. He is just so big that the Earth is his footstool, how beautiful and amazing is that. That is why NOTHING is impossible to Him. I love you Lord!!!
