Exodus 23

1 Thou shalt not raise a false report: put not thine hand with the wicked to be an unrighteous witness.

2 Thou shalt not follow a multitude to do evil; neither shalt thou speak in a cause to decline after many to wrest judgment:

3 Neither shalt thou countenance a poor man in his cause.

4 If thou meet thine enemy’s ox or his ass going astray, thou shalt surely bring it back to him again.

5 If thou see the ass of him that hateth thee lying under his burden, and wouldest forbear to help him, thou shalt surely help with him.

6 Thou shalt not wrest the judgment of thy poor in his cause.

7 Keep thee far from a false matter; and the innocent and righteous slay thou not: for I will not justify the wicked.

8 And thou shalt take no gift: for the gift blindeth the wise, and perverteth the words of the righteous.

9 Also thou shalt not oppress a stranger: for ye know the heart of a stranger, seeing ye were strangers in the land of Egypt.

10 And six years thou shalt sow thy land, and shalt gather in the fruits thereof:

11 But the seventh year thou shalt let it rest and lie still; that the poor of thy people may eat: and what they leave the beasts of the field shall eat. In like manner thou shalt deal with thy vineyard, and with thy oliveyard.

12 Six days thou shalt do thy work, and on the seventh day thou shalt rest: that thine ox and thine ass may rest, and the son of thy handmaid, and the stranger, may be refreshed.

13 And in all things that I have said unto you be circumspect: and make no mention of the name of other gods, neither let it be heard out of thy mouth.

14 Three times thou shalt keep a feast unto me in the year.

15 Thou shalt keep the feast of unleavened bread: (thou shalt eat unleavened bread seven days, as I commanded thee, in the time appointed of the month Abib; for in it thou camest out from Egypt: and none shall appear before me empty:)

16 And the feast of harvest, the firstfruits of thy labours, which thou hast sown in the field: and the feast of ingathering, which is in the end of the year, when thou hast gathered in thy labours out of the field.

17 Three times in the year all thy males shall appear before the Lord God.

18 Thou shalt not offer the blood of my sacrifice with leavened bread; neither shall the fat of my sacrifice remain until the morning.

19 The first of the firstfruits of thy land thou shalt bring into the house of the Lord thy God. Thou shalt not seethe a kid in his mother’s milk.

20 Behold, I send an Angel before thee, to keep thee in the way, and to bring thee into the place which I have prepared.

21 Beware of him, and obey his voice, provoke him not; for he will not pardon your transgressions: for my name is in him.

22 But if thou shalt indeed obey his voice, and do all that I speak; then I will be an enemy unto thine enemies, and an adversary unto thine adversaries.

23 For mine Angel shall go before thee, and bring thee in unto the Amorites, and the Hittites, and the Perizzites, and the Canaanites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites: and I will cut them off.

24 Thou shalt not bow down to their gods, nor serve them, nor do after their works: but thou shalt utterly overthrow them, and quite break down their images.

25 And ye shall serve the Lord your God, and he shall bless thy bread, and thy water; and I will take sickness away from the midst of thee.

26 There shall nothing cast their young, nor be barren, in thy land: the number of thy days I will fulfil.

27 I will send my fear before thee, and will destroy all the people to whom thou shalt come, and I will make all thine enemies turn their backs unto thee.

28 And I will send hornets before thee, which shall drive out the Hivite, the Canaanite, and the Hittite, from before thee.

29 I will not drive them out from before thee in one year; lest the land become desolate, and the beast of the field multiply against thee.

30 By little and little I will drive them out from before thee, until thou be increased, and inherit the land.

31 And I will set thy bounds from the Red sea even unto the sea of the Philistines, and from the desert unto the river: for I will deliver the inhabitants of the land into your hand; and thou shalt drive them out before thee.

32 Thou shalt make no covenant with them, nor with their gods.

33 They shall not dwell in thy land, lest they make thee sin against me: for if thou serve their gods, it will surely be a snare unto thee.

  1. 30 By little and little I will drive them out from before thee, until thou be increased, and inherit the land.

Our God is a God of increase! He has given us the land and He is building a church through us. This is his promise. Little by little the enemy will be driven out of this region and we will inherit it. We will win it back for the kingdom of God.

  2. Verse 1 MSG starts off with “Don’t pass on malicious gossip”…..this is pretty clear….no gossip. The next couple of verses talk about not passing the buck. If you see someone in need (physically or spiritually) don’t just walk on by…..Help….show Jesus to them. The end of the chapter talks about separation and serving the One True God…Jesus. Don’t bargain or try to live along side evil (anything that causes you to sin); but, serve God.

  3. 32 Thou shalt make no covenant with them, nor with their gods.
33 They shall not dwell in thy land, lest they make thee sin against me: for if thou serve their gods, it will surely be a snare unto thee.

This might seem harsh, but it’s true. Just think about how true it is even today. Today there are religions around the world that are calling for people to join with them, so that the entire world might serve the same false gods they do. While the people that we know who are of these religions might seem peace loving, the enemy has only sent them to be a snare for anyone whom they can get.

  4. Vs 1-9 We should always treat others the way we would want to be treated. Also, false witness is lying and all liars go to hell.

  5. 30 By little and little I will drive them out from before thee, until thou be increased, and inherit the land.

The process of obtaining your promise.

Do you ever feel that nothing is moving? Then a year or two pass and you look back and say wow I was moving and look how far I’ve come. Well the process of obtaining can be a slow one. But let God be God. You don’t try to bake a cake faster, cause if you do it will burn it and it won’t taste right. Because of the chemical processes that must take place. The changes it has to go through in order to taste right and cook right. God has to prepare us and take the time to teach us. So when we look back we can say ,”WOW!”

  6. KEEP YOUR DISTANCE

7 Keep thee far from a false matter; and the innocent and righteous slay thou not: for I will not justify the wicked.
8 And thou shalt take no gift: for the gift blindeth the wise, and perverteth the words of the righteous.

It is a sticky trap. Gossip, lies and gifts. The human nature tends to gravitate towards a lie and forsake TRUTH also it seems more natural to repeat a matter than to conceal it and pray about it. Then the closer is to receive a gift from a deceptive individual.

Our best decision is to KEEP YOUR DISTANCE from false matters, gossip about good people and gifts from deceptive individuals.

    How?

    Remain glued to the TRUTH.
    1. Pray in the SPIRIT of TRUTH (Holy Ghost)
    2. Read and Strudy the TRUTH (Word of GOD)
    3. Know and walk in TRUTH (Submit and obey JESUS always)

    KEEP YOUR DISTANCE from trouble.

    iRepent
    iPraise
    iPray
    iWork
    iGive
    iReap

  7. Exodus 23:20
“Behold, I send an Angel before thee, to keep thee in the way, and to bring thee into the place which I have prepared.”

Ps. 91:11, “For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.”
Heb. 1:13-14, “But to which of the angels said he at any time, Sit on my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool? Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?”

Thank You JESUS for the Angels you send to keep us and minister for us!

  8. 20-24 “Now get yourselves ready. I’m sending my Angel ahead of you to guard you in your travels, to lead you to the place that I’ve prepared. Pay close attention to him. Obey him. Don’t go against him. He won’t put up with your rebellions because he’s acting on my authority. But if you obey him and do everything I tell you, I’ll be an enemy to your enemies, I’ll fight those who fight you. (MSG)

  9. iLove to eat the Word

Sometimes there are lingering things in the lives of the children of God. These things aren’t to kill us or to annoy us to insanity, but these things are there until we grow. If they were just suddenly removed all at once, it would open a void that would allow a destructive force into our lives. We must trust God and believe he has our best interest at hand.

  10. 22 But if thou shalt indeed obey his voice, and do all that I speak; then I will be an enemy unto thine enemies, and an adversary unto thine adversaries.

Obedience can be found in many chapters in the word of God. God is faithful to provide, faithful to protect, faithful to lead, faithful in all manners, but it takes obedience in our part in order for Him to fulfill His role in our lives.

He knows what’s best and will lead us according to His plan and purpose, and with His leading comes all facets of who He is as God in our lives…….but we first must obey.

  11. 5 If you see that the donkey of someone who hates you has collapsed under its load, do not walk by. Instead, stop and help.

Again, we should always have a serving attitude. Even though you dont get along with someone, God stills wants us to serve them no matter what. We should always demonstrate a caring and loving attitude!

  12. 20 Behold, I send an Angel before thee, to keep thee in the way, and to bring thee into the place which I have prepared.
Thank you Jesus for sending an Angel in the way to help keep us.

  13. 24 Thou shalt not bow down to their gods, nor serve them, nor do after their works: but thou shalt utterly overthrow them, and quite break down their images.

25 And ye shall serve the Lord your God, and he shall bless thy bread, and thy water; and I will take sickness away from the midst of thee.
All God wants is for his people to serve him, and only him. The promise he made to them if you serve only me I will bless your bread and water, he will take away the sickness. He didn’t have to do that, he could have said, SERVE ME OR YOU WILL BE KILLED FOR I AM THE GOD WHO BROUGHT YOU OUT OF EGYPT. But instead he was a caring, merciful God, he always has provided for us, as long as we are faithful he will. GOD IS GREAT AND GREATLY TO BE PRAISED!!

  14. 20 Behold, I send an Angel before thee, to keep thee in the way, and to bring thee into the place which I have prepared.

21 Beware of him, and obey his voice, provoke him not; for he will not pardon your transgressions: for my name is in him.

22 But if thou shalt indeed obey his voice, and do all that I speak; then I will be an enemy unto thine enemies, and an adversary unto thine adversaries.
Sounds like Pastor Watts!! That’s what was talked about a few weeks ago.

  15. Exodus 24:11 (NLT)

11 And though these nobles of Israel gazed upon God, he did not destroy them. In fact, they ate a covenant meal, eating and drinking in his presence!

It isn’t long after this that the people of Israel chose to rebel and make their own idol a golden calf. Moses was on the mountain with Joshua, Aaron, and the 70 elders.

The Bible says they literally saw God, ate with him, and enjoyed his presence. Yet it was Moses and Joshua only who went up on the mountain.

How could these other 71 men who had the most amazing experience possible have allowed the people to succumb to such immorality and disobedience?

I believe the answer is this: relationship far outweighs experience.

Moses talked with God while the others had only had an experience. Experiences should be catalysts for growth and not just another entertaining event in our minds.

  16. v33 They shall not dwell in thy land, lest they make you sin against me: for if thou serve their gods, it will surely be a snare unto thee.

GOD IS a loving and holy GOD who will not let us get away with sin

  17. If we can just hearken unto the voice of the Lord, we can hear the plan that God has for us. If we are focus on the one voice that matters,we won’t have time to listen to the other negative voices around us. God has a plan for each of his people. We just have to be willing to listen and follow.

  18. 20 Behold, I send an Angel before thee, to keep thee in the way, and to bring thee into the place which I have prepared.

21 Beware of him, and obey his voice, provoke him not; for he will not pardon your transgressions: for my name is in him.

22 But if thou shalt indeed obey his voice, and do all that I speak; then I will be an enemy unto thine enemies, and an adversary unto thine adversaries.

  19. 19 The first of the firstfruits of thy land thou shalt bring into the house of the Lord thy God.

The first of whatever you make and earn should be given to God, don’t hold back your tithe and offering from him.

  20. 12 Six days thou shalt do thy work, and on the seventh day thou shalt rest: that thine ox and thine ass may rest, and the son of thy handmaid, and the stranger, may be refreshed.
it is good to work for God to put our hands to the plow and push forward in the work of the ministry. Thankfully though there is also a time for rest of time for sales to enjoy the blessings and favor of God and a time for us to read for our labors. Take this holiday season and this Christmas that’s coming up to enjoy time with family to relax a little bit and thank God for another beautiful year!

  21. 24 Thou shalt not bow down to their gods, nor serve them, nor do after their works: but thou shalt utterly overthrow them, and quite break down their images.

There is only one God and His name is Jesus.

  22. God will drive them out. When he does gets rid of things it happens little by little so we can handle it. If it changed all at once we would get focused on the ring things and would not understand all he had done. We would be too likely to jump right back into the same type of situation that we were just in. I’m so glad that God knows better than me and he does things for my own good, even when I don’t understand it.

  23. 30 By little and little I will drive them out from before thee, until thou be increased, and inherit the land.

Gods timing is not what we would choose sometimes but God can see things we can’t see. When we can do what the Lord says without an explanation is when you can say that you trust the Lord.

  24. 20 Behold, I send an Angel before thee, to keep thee in the way, and to bring thee into the place which I have prepared.

I believe the angel of the Lord still encampeth around those that fear him, and protects them. The Word of God is not void even until this day we can count on the promises of God. He is the same yesterday, today and forever.

The Bible is not some old book that was written for history sake. It is a book that brings life, restoration, and hope. it is the living word of the Almighty God.

  25. “They shall not dwell in thy land, lest they make thee sin against me: for if thou serve their gods, it will surely be a snare unto thee”. The word of God (Jesus) is not the issue, obedience is. One that wants to please the Judge (Jesus) will obey, no matter what; whereas one that doesn’t will not. Dear God forgive us (me) of times of disobedience, and grant (us) me the wisdom to change; Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done”. “In God we trust”. “One Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all”. What a mighty God we serve! Thank God for his word. God bless America, Israel, Jerusalem, and you all in Jesus name, Amen!

  26. Behold, I send an Angel before thee, to keep thee in the way, and to bring thee into the place which I have prepared.

Amen!!!! I am privledged for my God to send angels to keep me in the correct path that my Lord has prepared. A place of worship, no sorrow, no tears, and no pain. A place of peace and pureness being able to be with my Lord Jesus!!!!! I can’t wait for my promise Jesus, in you I trust and thank you for sending me angels to take care of my family and I. HALELUJAH!!!!

  27. 6 Thou shalt not wrest the judgment of thy poor in his cause.

7 Keep thee far from a false matter; and the innocent and righteous slay thou not: for I will not justify the wicked.

The Lord knows the intention of the heart. His desire is for his people to be true and stay away from sinning to help others. No matter the situation to stay honest and honor God by following his commandments.

  28. “But if you indeed obey His voice and do all that I speak, then I will be an enemy to your enemies and an adversary to your adversaries.”(‭‭Exodus‬ ‭23:22‬ ‭NKJV‬‬)

For thoses that shall indeed obey his voice,…. Or “hearkening hearken”, (n) to it attentively, listen to it, and diligently and constantly observe and obey in whatever he shall direct and order, and do all that I speak; by him; or whatsoever he had spoke, or was about to speak; for as yet all the laws and statutes were not delivered, especially those of the ceremonial kind, then I will be an enemy unto thine enemies, and an adversary unto thine adversaries. In Jesus Name!!!

  29. 7 Keep thee far from a false matter; and the innocent and righteous slay thou not: for I will not justify the wicked.

God warns his people to stay away from any false matter. We cannot do wrong to even our enemies because Jesus would not of done wrong to those who persecuted him. We are to be Jesus to others showing them we can do what is right in the times we would like to get away with wrong.
