Leviticus 16

1 And the Lord spake unto Moses after the death of the two sons of Aaron, when they offered before the Lord, and died;

2 And the Lord said unto Moses, Speak unto Aaron thy brother, that he come not at all times into the holy place within the vail before the mercy seat, which is upon the ark; that he die not: for I will appear in the cloud upon the mercy seat.

3 Thus shall Aaron come into the holy place: with a young bullock for a sin offering, and a ram for a burnt offering.

4 He shall put on the holy linen coat, and he shall have the linen breeches upon his flesh, and shall be girded with a linen girdle, and with the linen mitre shall he be attired: these are holy garments; therefore shall he wash his flesh in water, and so put them on.

5 And he shall take of the congregation of the children of Israel two kids of the goats for a sin offering, and one ram for a burnt offering.

6 And Aaron shall offer his bullock of the sin offering, which is for himself, and make an atonement for himself, and for his house.

7 And he shall take the two goats, and present them before the Lord at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation.

8 And Aaron shall cast lots upon the two goats; one lot for the Lord, and the other lot for the scapegoat.

9 And Aaron shall bring the goat upon which the Lord’s lot fell, and offer him for a sin offering.

10 But the goat, on which the lot fell to be the scapegoat, shall be presented alive before the Lord, to make an atonement with him, and to let him go for a scapegoat into the wilderness.

11 And Aaron shall bring the bullock of the sin offering, which is for himself, and shall make an atonement for himself, and for his house, and shall kill the bullock of the sin offering which is for himself:

12 And he shall take a censer full of burning coals of fire from off the altar before the Lord, and his hands full of sweet incense beaten small, and bring it within the vail:

13 And he shall put the incense upon the fire before the Lord, that the cloud of the incense may cover the mercy seat that is upon the testimony, that he die not:

14 And he shall take of the blood of the bullock, and sprinkle it with his finger upon the mercy seat eastward; and before the mercy seat shall he sprinkle of the blood with his finger seven times.

15 Then shall he kill the goat of the sin offering, that is for the people, and bring his blood within the vail, and do with that blood as he did with the blood of the bullock, and sprinkle it upon the mercy seat, and before the mercy seat:

16 And he shall make an atonement for the holy place, because of the uncleanness of the children of Israel, and because of their transgressions in all their sins: and so shall he do for the tabernacle of the congregation, that remaineth among them in the midst of their uncleanness.

17 And there shall be no man in the tabernacle of the congregation when he goeth in to make an atonement in the holy place, until he come out, and have made an atonement for himself, and for his household, and for all the congregation of Israel.

18 And he shall go out unto the altar that is before the Lord, and make an atonement for it; and shall take of the blood of the bullock, and of the blood of the goat, and put it upon the horns of the altar round about.

19 And he shall sprinkle of the blood upon it with his finger seven times, and cleanse it, and hallow it from the uncleanness of the children of Israel.

20 And when he hath made an end of reconciling the holy place, and the tabernacle of the congregation, and the altar, he shall bring the live goat:

21 And Aaron shall lay both his hands upon the head of the live goat, and confess over him all the iniquities of the children of Israel, and all their transgressions in all their sins, putting them upon the head of the goat, and shall send him away by the hand of a fit man into the wilderness:

22 And the goat shall bear upon him all their iniquities unto a land not inhabited: and he shall let go the goat in the wilderness.

23 And Aaron shall come into the tabernacle of the congregation, and shall put off the linen garments, which he put on when he went into the holy place, and shall leave them there:

24 And he shall wash his flesh with water in the holy place, and put on his garments, and come forth, and offer his burnt offering, and the burnt offering of the people, and make an atonement for himself, and for the people.

25 And the fat of the sin offering shall he burn upon the altar.

26 And he that let go the goat for the scapegoat shall wash his clothes, and bathe his flesh in water, and afterward come into the camp.

27 And the bullock for the sin offering, and the goat for the sin offering, whose blood was brought in to make atonement in the holy place, shall one carry forth without the camp; and they shall burn in the fire their skins, and their flesh, and their dung.

28 And he that burneth them shall wash his clothes, and bathe his flesh in water, and afterward he shall come into the camp.

29 And this shall be a statute for ever unto you: that in the seventh month, on the tenth day of the month, ye shall afflict your souls, and do no work at all, whether it be one of your own country, or a stranger that sojourneth among you:

30 For on that day shall the priest make an atonement for you, to cleanse you, that ye may be clean from all your sins before the Lord.

31 It shall be a sabbath of rest unto you, and ye shall afflict your souls, by a statute for ever.

32 And the priest, whom he shall anoint, and whom he shall consecrate to minister in the priest’s office in his father’s stead, shall make the atonement, and shall put on the linen clothes, even the holy garments:

33 And he shall make an atonement for the holy sanctuary, and he shall make an atonement for the tabernacle of the congregation, and for the altar, and he shall make an atonement for the priests, and for all the people of the congregation.

34 And this shall be an everlasting statute unto you, to make an atonement for the children of Israel for all their sins once a year. And he did as the Lord commanded Moses.

  1. This chapter speaks about the Law of Atonement (satisfaction or reparation for a wrong or injury; amends). Reparation (the making of amends for wrong or restoration to good condition). In the CEV this chapter is captioned “The Great Day of Forgiveness”. The end of verse 34 MSG says “….And Aaron did it, just as God commanded Moses”. You cannot get to the forgiveness without the obedience coming first. As we heard this past weekend, it is time to restore the Apostolic Doctrine.

  2. Sense we awe with which the high priest approached the most holy place and.meditate on Calvary where atonement was made for us by Jesus Christ .
    God does forgive am sin.

  3. Too much of a good thing.

Prov 25:27 It’s not smart to stuff yourself with sweets, nor is glory piled on glory good for you. MSG
Prov 25:27 It is not good to eat much honey: so for men to search their own glory is not glory. KJV

What a difference between the two versions. One proclaims glory piled on glory. However the KJV states the search for one’s own glory is not glory. I am caught between the two and will go with what I feel this morning.

The old saying “Too much of a good thing” applies to more than you think; steak, potatoes, Diet Coke, coffee – but glory? I have never caught this verse before. Too much glory? We can have too much money. We can have too much time on our hands-idle hands are the devil’s playground. To expand it, we can be too much. We can be too nice. We can definitely be too mean. We can even be too committed a cause. I know, you’re thinking I’m crazy. How does that work? If you really care about something, you can’t be TOO committed to it. I disagree. I believe that if you put too much into one cause you can change it into something it’s not.

Mat 8:36 For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?
1 Tim 3:5 For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?

  4. 26 And he that let go the goat for the scapegoat shall wash his clothes, and bathe his flesh in water, and afterward come into the camp.

To have the real meaning of the scapegoat we must first look deep into the Jewish celebration of Yom Kippur for the atonement of sin. According to the Theologist John Pratt who made a study to find out who does the Azazel (scapegoat) represents, this are his findings – In particular, the goat “for Jehovah” is indeed Jesus Christ, who atoned and was sacrificed for all the sins of mankind. But the other goat, the scapegoat “for Azazel,” also bears the weight of the sins of all mankind because Satan (Azazel) is ultimately responsible for them all. And he will be punished for them, first by being cast into the bottomless pit, and later by being thrown into the lake of fire and brimstone at the last day. This ceremony teaches these two truths simultaneously.
One practical lesson to be learned is that it can be very difficult to judge between the two nearly identical goats, representing Christ and a false Christ. Jesus appeared to the Jews to be a false Christ. They believed He performed His miracles by Satan’s power (Luke 11:15) and some may have thought they were doing Jehovah a service by crucifying Him (compare John 16:2). Even though they were fulfilling scriptural prophecy, the Jews chose poorly between Barabbas and Christ.

Perhaps next time the choice will be between two lambs instead of two goats (Rev. 13:11). Satan is the great deceiver and can do miracles (Rev. 13:13-15). He disguises himself in sheep’s clothing (Mat. 7:15). The Savior warned us not to be deceived by false Christs who will show great signs and wonders, who will, were it possible, deceive the very elect (Mat. 24:24).

Do not be fooled by the wolves in sheep clothing. John 10:
27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:

28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.

The only way we can learn His voice is by having frequent conversation (prayer) with Him other wise you will be deceived by the enemy.

  5. iLove to Grow in the Word
As I was reading verse :13, I thought it would be interesting to look up the Word incense. The following is what I found.
    Incense-7004 from 6999
    6999
    קָטַר qatar
    kaw-tar’
a primitive root [identical with (07000) through the idea of fumigation in a close place and perhaps thus driving out the occupants]
a primitive root (identical with through the idea of fumigation in a close place and perhaps thus driving out the occupants); to smoke, i.e. turn into fragrance by fire (especially as an act of worship):–burn (incense, sacrifice) (upon), (altar for) incense, kindle, offer (incense, a sacrifice).

Notice that the incense was the smoke that filled the place but also notice it was the smoke that fumigates. It pushes out the inhabitants… When we send up really hot prayer, we push out the inhabitants (Which are seducing spirits, false doctrine, strongholds, ect.) and then the miracolus can happen.

  6. 33 And he shall make an atonement for the holy sanctuary, and he shall make an atonement for the tabernacle of the congregation, and for the altar, and he shall make an atonement for the priests, and for all the people of the congregation.

Every day we should be sending up a prayer or atonement to God for our church, for our church family and the people we are trying to bring to church.

  7. “And he shall make an atonement for the holy place, because of the uncleanness of the children of Israel, and because of their transgressions in all their sins: and so shall he do for the tabernacle of the congregation, that remaineth among them in the midst of their uncleanness.”
    ‭‭Leviticus‬ ‭16:16‬ ‭KJV‬‬

  8. 30 because on this day atonement will be made for you, to cleanse you. Then, before the Lord, you will be clean from all your sins. (NIV)

Thank You Jesus for Your blood shed on Calvary!

  9. Leviticus 16:25
And the fat of the sin offering shall he burn upon the alter.

We have all sinned and we all have given offering and we all praise at the alter. Grow with Jesus Amen

  10. 34 And this shall be an everlasting statute unto you, to make an atonement for the children of Israel for all their sins once a year. And he did as the Lord commanded Moses.

This is a statute that God declared to happen once a year. We must be atoned for our sins. Thank you, Jesus, for keeping us under the shadow of your wings.

  11. Then he must bathe himself with water in a sacred place, put on his regular garments, and go out to sacrifice a burnt offering for himself and a burnt offering for the people. Through this process, he will purify himself and the people, making them right with the Lord .
    Leviticus 16:24 NLT

Because God sent His only begotten Son JEUSUS to this earth to shed His Blood and died for our sins. He made Himself that lamb that was sacrificed and that blood is our atonement for our sins. Which is why today all we have to do is humble ourselves open our hearts and say Jesus forgive me. I repent of all my sins and be baptized in Jesus name.

  12. The precious blood of Jesus!!!!

And the goat shall bear upon him all their iniquities unto a land not inhabited: and he shall let go the goat in the wilderness. And Aaron shall come into the tabernacle of the congregation, and shall put off the linen garments, which he put on when he went into the holy place, and shall leave them there: And he shall wash his flesh with water in the holy place, and put on his garments, and come forth, and offer his burnt offering, and the burnt offering of the people, and make an atonement for himself, and for the people. (‭Leviticus‬ ‭16‬:‭22-24‬ KJV)

I thank The Lord this morning for giving of himself to be the ultimate sacrifice!!!!!
Otherwise i would to this day be dead in my sins, bound by addiction, lost forever,no hope, no peace….no hope of eternal life with Him.

But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ. For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us; Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace; And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby: And came and preached peace to you which were afar off, and to them that were nigh. For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father. Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God; (‭Ephesians‬ ‭2‬:‭13-19‬ KJV)

  13. There is a time of atonement. Again we see that there needs to be an offering to cleanse our flesh. The difference this time is the priest makes the atonement for the people. It’s time to restore the people to the church. I believe that this is what God is speaking to me today. We do lose ourselves to the world and brother Linton said it, ‘What good is it to gain the world, if you’re going to lose your soul.’ We need to restore Apostolic Doctrine, I will be digging into Acts this week. There is so much restoration that needs to happen and I believe that we will lead the way. Listen to what God is saying to you and be fully restored to the church.

I’ll finish with a song title; Toby Mac ‘I Don’t Want To Gain The Whole World and Lose My Soul’. One of the lines is ‘All eyes are on you Lord’, this is where we should be at. Looking nowhere else except upon the Lord, our restoration will come from him. But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you Matthew 6:33…..I believe that. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me….Philippians 4:13……..Amen and have a very blessed day all.

  14. Atonement for one then
    Atonement for all

    Leviticus 16:6

6 And Aaron shall offer his bullock of the sin offering, which is for himself, and make an atonement for himself, and for his house.

    Leviticus 16:30

30 For on that day shall the priest make an atonement for you, to cleanse you, that ye may be clean from all your sins before the Lord.

You would think that the offering that covered the thousands of members of the tribes of Israel would be sufficient to cover Aaron the high priest also. Yet God instructed that before he could make atonement for the sins of Israel he had make atonement for himself personally.

The same process of sacrifice and scape goat was used for the individual and for the congregation. But why would this extra step be needed?

Romans 12:1 tells us to present our bodies a living sacrifice
Rev 1:6 says we have been made kings and priests unto God

Yes it all about souls but before we can take care of others we need to save ourselves from this untoward generation (Acts 2:40)

This is personal. Jesus wants a real authentic relationship with us and not just another slave around the house. He cares deeply about us and we need to remember that yes the congregation is important but this isn’t just about them. This is also about our connection to him.

  15. A HUMBLE APPROACH TO A HOLY GOD

2 And the Lord said unto Moses, Speak unto Aaron thy brother, that he come not at all times into the holy place within the vail before the mercy seat, which is upon the ark; that he die not: for I will appear in the cloud upon the mercy seat.

We are cautioned here in regards to a casual approach to GOD. The LORD has granted us access to HIS throne of GRACE to obtain Mercy, however we find the principal of approach here in the law.

GOD established boundaries and guidelines for mans approach to GOD. What to wear, what path to take, when to come and what to expect. GOD is detailed in HIS Kingdom and HIS order prevails.

    NIRV
1 The Lord spoke to Moses after two of Aaron’s sons had died. They were the sons who died when they came near the Lord.
2 The Lord said to Moses, “Speak to your brother Aaron. Tell him not to come into the Most Holy Room just anytime he wants to. Tell him not to come behind the curtain in front of the cover of the ark. The cover is the place where sin is paid for. If he comes behind the curtain, he will die. That is because I appear in the cloud over the cover.

Through repentance we prepare ourselves to approach GOD, clothed with humility. Approaching in reverence and anticipating invitation. iPray the LORD JESUS will guide us in our PASSION as we approach HIM.

    iRepent
    iPraise
    iPray
    iWork
    iGive
    iReap

  16. …In the presence of God you will be made clean of all your sins. It is a Sabbath of all Sabbaths. You must fast. It is a perpetual ordinance. 29-31 (MSG)

  17. 32 And the priest, whom he shall anoint, and whom he shall consecrate to minister in the priest’s office in his father’s stead, shall make the atonement, and shall put on the linen clothes, even the holy garments:

  18. 2 And the Lord said unto Moses, Speak unto Aaron thy brother, that he come not at all times into the holy place within the vail before the mercy seat, which is upon the ark; that he die not: for I will appear in the cloud upon the mercy seat.

Aaron was given specific instructions in this chapter to protect him. If he ignored any of them his life was on the line. God said that he die not. We should follow Gods instructions, not pick and choose what to believe and follow. The instructions given us are for us to die not. Just like Adam in the garden, do not eat or you will surely die. We all are subject to that case of disobedience.

  19. 9 And Aaron shall bring the goat upon which the Lord’s lot fell, and offer him for a sin offering.

10 But the goat, on which the lot fell to be the scapegoat, shall be presented alive before the Lord, to make an atonement with him, and to let him go for a scapegoat into the wilderness.

Two goats were brought to Aaron, one was killed and the blood was applied, the second all the sins of the people were pronounced over its head and it was sent into the wilderness as a scapegoat. It bore the sins instead of the people.

We must all take responsibility for our own actions. Jesus Christ bore all our sins on the cross and gave us a way of escape, however, we must do our part by repenting of those sins, washing them away and then living a holy, acceptable life unto the Lord. If the steps of repentance, baptism and infilling doesn’t happen then we will all stand judgement with our sins. It won’t matter that we followed someone into a sin, or because they did it and got away with it, that it is okay for us. We will face judgement alone and there will be no other scapegoat to blame.

  20. Lev. 16:21-22
    21) And Aaron shall lay both his hands upon the head of the live goat, and confess over him all the iniquities of the children of Israel, and all their sins, putting them upon the head of the goat, and shall send him away by the hand of a fit man into the wilderness.
    22) And the goat shall bear upon him all their iniquities unto a land not inhabited: and he shall let go the goat in the wilderness.

Isaiah 53:6 says, “All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquities of us all.

Jesus Christ became our escapegoat. He has laid upon Himself the iniquities of us all.
    Thank You Jesus!

  21. 30 For on that day shall the priest make an atonement for you, to cleanse you, that ye may be clean from all your sins before the Lord.

Thankful for an all loving God, that no matter how far off we think we are from His grace, He will extend His mercy and grace to us and we will be made whole before His presence. His blood will cover us and cleanse us of all wrong doing. How great is our God!!

  22. 21. And Aaron shall lay both his hands upon the head of the live goat, and confess over him all the iniquities of the children of Israel, and all their transgressions in all their sins, putting them upon the head of the goat, and shall send him away by the hand of a fit man into the wilderness:

I’m sure the Pastors of today are thankful that they don’t have to stand there and listen while every person tells him their every sin from the past year, just to have to turn and repeat them over a goat! Thankful for individual repentance!

  23. 2 And the Lord said unto Moses, Speak unto Aaron thy brother, that he come not at all times into the holy place within the vail before the mercy seat, which is upon the ark; that he die not: for I will appear in the cloud upon the mercy seat.
3 Thus shall Aaron come into the holy place: with a young bullock for a sin offering, and a ram for a burnt offering.

God gave Aaron specific instructions on going into the temple so that he would not die. His sons that died had not completely followed the procedures and offered strange incense. No doubt they meant well and after re-reading Leviticus 9 & 10, I am reminded of the scripture in Prov 14:12 that says there is a way that seems right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death. In Prov 16:2 it says it this way: All the ways of a man are clean in his own eyes; but the Lord weigheth the spirits. I must follow his word and his ways so that I am pleasing to Him who is able to save my soul. There are no shortcuts.

  24. Leviticus 16 29 This is to be a lasting ordinance for you. On the 10th day of the seveth month you must deny yourself and do not any work whether native-born or foreigner residing among you because on this day of atonement would be made for you to cleanse. Then before the Lord you will clean from all your sins. It is a day of Sabbath rest and you must deny yourself it is a lasting ordinance. The priest who is anointed and ordained to succeed his father as high priest is to make atonement. He is to put on the
sacred Linen garments and make atonement for the Most Holy Place for the tent of the meeting and the altar and for the priest and all the members of the community.

Thank you Jesus that you became the Lamb that was sacrificed for my sins I praise your Holy Name.

  25. God spoke to Moses after the sons of Aaron had died about how to sacrifice for the atonement of sins. Aaron couldn’t just come to the Lord any time he felt the need to and he couldn’t just show up sloppy. Their was a process to everything and instructions for preparation down to bathing before putting on his linen garments (vs 4). Twice he repeats (vs 6&11) that he needs to make a sacrifice for himself and his household as the first process of atonement. Signifying he would need to repent of our own sins before we can help others. We cannot effectively minister to others and serve their needs like Aaron does here in sacrificial atonement until we follow this guide of preparation in our lives.

  26. 2The LORD said to Moses, “Warn your brother, Aaron, not to enter the Most Holy Place behind the inner curtain whenever he chooses; if he does, he will die. For the Ark’s cover—the place of atonement—is there, and I myself am present in the cloud above the atonement cover.

Not all can enter the most holy place. This could also be interpreted as not everyone is called into ministry or pastor a church. Even though one has interest into ministry, that person still needs to be called by God. One can’t just choose to be in ministry, but must have the calling of God. It seems like God is warning those, do not enter into my presence, the place of atonement unless I have called for you. If you are called by God, it will by on his time and place.

  27. Moses did exactly what the Lord told him to do 34) and this sallow be an everlasting statutes unto you to make an atonement for the children of Israel for all their sins once a year . And he did as the Lord commanded moses

  28. 30 For on that day shall the priest make an atonement for you, to cleanse you, that ye may be clean from all your sins before the Lord.

  29. 30 For on that day shall the priest make an atonement for you, to cleanse you, that ye may be clean from all your sins before the Lord.

Glory when we go unto Jesus with a pure and repentant heart, He will heal us and automatically forgive us. He cleanses us completely and will always be the only one that can cleanse us. I used to be a Catholic and had to confess my sins to a human, but now Thank God I don’t have to do that anymore. I love you Jesus!!!!

  30. See the two goats occurred during the day of attonement . They both represented the way of God dealing with the Israelites sin , he was forgiving there sin through the first goat and the other he was removing guilt ,the scape goat witch sent into the wilderness . But thanks to christs death we have no need to use these sacrifices ,bee can have are sins washed away and forgiven by the blood of the lamb , baptism, and repentance and trust in the lord

  31. 34 And this shall be an everlasting statute unto you, to make an atonement for the children of Israel for all their sins once a year. And he did as the Lord commanded Moses.
I’m so thankful that we no longer have to go through the process of blood sacrifices for forgiveness of sins. I’m thankful to God that we can come boldly before the throne of grace and ask for mercy. I’m thankful that the sinless lamb the blood of Jesus Christ was shed for you and for me. and it’s that precious blood that washes white as snow.

  32. The two goats occurred during the day of attonement , one represented the ways of God dwelling with the Israelites , he was forgiving them for there sin Through the first goat , which was sacrificed , he removed there guilt through the second goat , the scape goat witch was set in to the wilderness , instead of doing this every year we have are lord that died on the cross for us so now we don’t have to do this we can simply have are sins forgiven and washed away by the blood of the lanmb by forgiveness , repentance , baptism , and placing our trust in the lord

  33. 34 And this shall be an everlasting statute unto you, to make an atonement for the children of Israel for all their sins once a year. And he did as the Lord commanded Moses

We may not have to bring a lamb before God to make a sacrifice, but we need to be that living sacrifice. We must offer our bodies unto God so that he can use us in the way he wants to.

  34. 34 And this shall be an everlasting statute unto you, to make an atonement for the children of Israel for all their sins once a year. And he did as the Lord commanded Moses.

    Amen.

  35. 33 And he shall make an atonement for the holy sanctuary, and he shall make an atonement for the tabernacle of the congregation, and for the altar, and he shall make an atonement for the priests, and for all the people of the congregation.

34 And this shall be an everlasting statute unto you, to make an atonement for the children of Israel for all their sins once a year. And he did as the Lord commanded Moses.

Thankful that our High Priest the Lord Jesus has himself paid the price for the remission of our sins and we gain access to him by repentance.

  36. 6 “Aaron is to offer the bull for his own sin offering to make atonement for himself and his household
30 because on this day atonement will be made for you, to cleanse you. Then, before the Lord, you will be clean from all your sins.

Take control over your life! Where you change your life it will change your households life as well. Thank you God for the blood you gave for me! Thank you for changing my life and using me Lord to change others when you change me!

  37. Atonement
16:6 And Aaron shall offer his bullock of the sin offering, which is for himself , and make an atonement for hinself, and for his house.

Just as the ark was a ” type ” of Christ in saving His people from judgment (Heb.11:7), the “cover” within and without emphasized the means whereby our salvation is secure—that is, our sins are covered by the blood of Christ. This covering of sin is an expression of God’s love for mankind (Prov.10:12 Hatred stirrer up strifes: but love covered all sins.)

Thank God for the Blood! !!

  38. 13 And he shall put the incense upon the fire before the Lord, that the cloud of the incense may cover the mercy seat that is upon the testimony, that he die not:

  39. “The LORD spoke to Moses after the death of Aaron’s two sons, who died after they entered the LORD’s presence and burned the wrong kind of fire before him.”
    ‭‭Leviticus‬ ‭16:1‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Just think if we don’t have the right spirit in us, or we have not prayed through or if we worship another idol…etc. Would our fire change? Because back then the wrong fire got you killed. Thank God we have a merciful God who is loving and generous and understanding.

  41. 30 For on that day shall the priest make an atonement for you, to cleanse you, that ye may be clean from all your sins before the Lord.

31 It shall be a sabbath of rest unto you, and ye shall afflict your souls, by a statute for ever.

  42. “And this shall be an everlasting statute unto you, to make an atonement for the children of Israel for all their sins once a year. And he did as the Lord commanded Moses.” The word of God (Jesus) said “for the children of Israel”. One must grasp what the sacrifice of our Lord (Creator) truly accomplished, which was atonement for all. Dear God, let us (me) never become so full of self that we (I) forget it was because of your blood. “In God we (I) trust”. “One Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all”. May God Bless America, Israel, Jerusalem, and you all in Jesus name, Amen!

  43. “And the Lord spake unto Moses after the death of the two sons of Aaron, when they offered before the Lord, and died”. The Lord had rules, which there were immediate consequences for disobedience. The same is still true today, however there is grace and space to make it right. God help us to see and hear your will and not our own, in Jesus name.

  44. v 30 For on that day shall the priest make an atonement for you, to cleanse you, that yr may be clean from all your sins before the LORD.

We see that the blood of animals served to cleanse the flesh of the people who obeyed the law of Moses’ day, but it could never cleanse their souls.
JESUS’ PRECIOUS BLOOD went far beyond just correcting past mistakes.
HIS BLOOD covers, cleanses, and remits past sin.
The blood OF JESUS CHRIST breaks our servitude to sin and frees is to serve our new Master, the LORD JESUS CHRIST.

THANK GOD FOR THE BLOOD !!!

  45. 1 And the Lord spake unto Moses after the death of the two sons of Aaron, when they offered before the Lord, and died;

2 And the Lord said unto Moses, Speak unto Aaron thy brother, that he come not at all times into the holy place within the vail before the mercy seat, which is upon the ark; that he die not: for I m will appear in the cloud upon the mercy seat.

Respect and honor the Lord of Lords , King of Kings.
If your in sin God here is giving instuction and opportunity to make it right by following his commands. Live a righteous life, shine for God.

  46. I am so thankful for the blood, for the Hoky Ghost that purify the sin, and make you whole. God was the first and the last perfect sacrifice for the sin. Now we have free access to His presence, to His throne and He gave us power in His gloriosa name. Aleluya !!!

  47. 20 And when he hath made an end of reconciling the holy place, and the tabernacle of the congregation, and the altar, he shall bring the live goat:

21 And Aaron shall lay both his hands upon the head of the live goat, and confess over him all the iniquities of the children of Israel, and all their transgressions in all their sins, putting them upon the head of the goat, and shall send him away by the hand of a fit man into the wilderness:

22 And the goat shall bear upon him all their iniquities unto a land not inhabited: and he shall let go the goat in the wilderness.

  48. The goat was sent out as a replacement for the punishment of sin. It took the place of the people. The day of atonement was on the 10th day of the 7th month. Afterwards, humility was practiced and one did not work.

  49. “After the death of Aaron’s two sons—they died when they came before GOD with strange fire— GOD spoke to Moses: “Tell your brother Aaron not to enter into the Holy of Holies, barging inside the curtain that’s before the Atonement-Cover on the Chest whenever he feels like it, lest he die, because I am present in the Cloud over the Atonement-Cover.”
    ‭‭Leviticus‬ ‭16:1-2‬ ‭MSG‬‬

I’m so glad that we don’t have to follow step by step rules in order to be in the presence of God. He wants to spend time with us throughout everyday not just when it’s convenient or by obligation.

  50. Proper entry

This example of how to come to the holy of Holies is how we should come to it today. We come foremost with a sacrifice, something to offer up to the lord. A sacrifice of our earnings an offering of our living a sacrifice of praise and worship. We gird ourselves or have respect. We put on fine linen or our best, God deserves the best. He also knows what truly is our best and he will judge us for that. We come prepared and we come to enter properly.

  51. Atonement for the altar

Jesus is our mighty High Priest He is the way by which we are allowed access into heaven. When we come to God in repentance by way of Jesus He becomes our mighty mediator granting us access to forgiveness of sin.

Later in this chapter we read the goat was let go into an uninhabited land. God is letting us know that once we are washed from the sin we are not to dwell any longer on it and others should not as well. For the land was uninhabitable.

    Micah 7:19
He will turn again, he will have compassion upon us; he will subdue our iniquities; and thou wilt cast all their sins into the depths of the sea.

  52. Scapegoats & Sins

    Leviticus 16:8-10 NLT
16 He is to cast sacred lots to determine which goat will be reserved as an offering to the Lord and which will carry the sins of the people to the wilderness of Azazel.

17 Aaron will then present as a sin offering the goat chosen by lot for the Lord.

18 The other goat, the scapegoat chosen by lot to be sent away, will be kept alive, standing before the Lord. When it is sent away to Azazel in the wilderness, the people will be purified and made right with the Lord.

The scapegoat in the Bible was one sent into the desert after the priest had placed the sins of Israel upon it, however today the concept is carried on usually to mean a person who gets to carry to blame of something (whether they are guilty or not) usually out of convenience; “I used Greg as my scapegoat on that botched project last week even though it wasn’t his fault, I feel bad but I mean he’s already given his two weeks notice to go to that other job so what does he have to worry about? Better him than me.”

The problem with modern day scapegoats, aside from the obvious of selfish desire and deceptiveness about where the blame should fall, is that it reveals a lack of responsibility for what issues are ours. Modern day scapegoats are not things to purify oneself in the eyes of God so much as they about avoiding punishment or “a bad record.” They say “I do not have to own this problem, I can simply make it go away.” In turn, once a scapegoat is assigned, many will then also try to pile on good deeds to distract from the reality of their actions and try to buy favor back or forgiveness, etc. It’s still all about avoidance of the issue. While one could argue that Jesus becomes a sort of scapegoat to just make sins “vanish,” the reality is that this view still leaves out the reality of grace.

Grace does not simply take a Magic Eraser to sin but demands change. Jesus paid the price for our sin but the reality is that we still must take responsibility for it. Jesus died on the cross, but it’s still our job to confess and repent of our sins. The scapegoat mentality would be the equivalent of saying “Jesus died for my sins, therefore even though I act as a sinner, I never have to get baptized, I never have to repent, I never have to confess anything or ask for forgiveness, I never have to deal with consequences, I never have to take responsibility for what I do, I never have to change, I am ‘perfect;’ all I had to do is be born and now I’m automatically on my way to heaven.”

This is obviously ridiculous but some people get so caught up in a lifestyle of “scapegoat-ing” that they live in a continual dance with a “goat” in between them and responsibility. What must happen is an embracing of grace and a defining of “what’s mine” so responsibility can be clearly understood and kept.

    Romans 6:15-18
15 What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid.

16 Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?

17 But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you.

18 Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.

  53. Being something me who follows the Binle means that you can’t just do everything you need any to donwhenyiu want to do it. Sometimes it means that you have to wait. Sometimes it means you have to be prepared. Sometimes it means you have to follow specific guidelines. Aaron found this out as he was going to minister, but he was not stopped. He did the ministry with excellence.

  54. “This shall be a statute forever for you: In the seventh month, on the tenth day of the month, you shall afflict your souls, and do no work at all, whether a native of your own country or a stranger who dwells among you.”(Leviticus‬ ‭16:29‬ ‭NKJV‬‬)

God places this time of observance as a statute. What’s the difference between statutes, judgments and laws then? Distinctions are sometimes made regarding one word from the other, yet the overall principle is one of obedience to all that the Lord commands, whether it’s a general command, a law, or a religious festival or ritual. Judgments, on the other hand, refer to decisions made by a judge, like God for example, based upon the principles behind those laws to come up with a decision as to best apply those laws. In Jesus Name !!!

  55. Leviticus 16:2
And the Lord said unto Moses, Speak unto Aaron thy brother, that he come not at all times into the holy place within the vail before the mercy seat, which is upon the ark; that he die not: for I will appear in the cloud upon the mercy seat.

  56. “The Lord said to Moses, “Speak to your brother Aaron. Tell him not to come into the Most Holy Room just anytime he wants to. Tell him not to come behind the curtain that is in front of the cover of the ark. The cover is the place where sin is paid for. If he comes behind the curtain, he will die. That is because I appear in the cloud over the cover.”
    ‭‭Leviticus‬ ‭16:2‬ ‭NIRV‬‬

There was a big responsibility upon Aaron. It wasn’t something that should have been taken lightly. There was order ans pattern that must be followed.
