Leviticus 21

1 And the Lord said unto Moses, Speak unto the priests the sons of Aaron, and say unto them, There shall none be defiled for the dead among his people:

2 But for his kin, that is near unto him, that is, for his mother, and for his father, and for his son, and for his daughter, and for his brother.

3 And for his sister a virgin, that is nigh unto him, which hath had no husband; for her may he be defiled.

4 But he shall not defile himself, being a chief man among his people, to profane himself.

5 They shall not make baldness upon their head, neither shall they shave off the corner of their beard, nor make any cuttings in their flesh.

6 They shall be holy unto their God, and not profane the name of their God: for the offerings of the Lord made by fire, and the bread of their God, they do offer: therefore they shall be holy.

7 They shall not take a wife that is a whore, or profane; neither shall they take a woman put away from her husband: for he is holy unto his God.

8 Thou shalt sanctify him therefore; for he offereth the bread of thy God: he shall be holy unto thee: for I the Lord, which sanctify you, am holy.

9 And the daughter of any priest, if she profane herself by playing the whore, she profaneth her father: she shall be burnt with fire.

10 And he that is the high priest among his brethren, upon whose head the anointing oil was poured, and that is consecrated to put on the garments, shall not uncover his head, nor rend his clothes;

11 Neither shall he go in to any dead body, nor defile himself for his father, or for his mother;

12 Neither shall he go out of the sanctuary, nor profane the sanctuary of his God; for the crown of the anointing oil of his God is upon him: I am the Lord.

13 And he shall take a wife in her virginity.

14 A widow, or a divorced woman, or profane, or an harlot, these shall he not take: but he shall take a virgin of his own people to wife.

15 Neither shall he profane his seed among his people: for I the Lord do sanctify him.

16 And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,

17 Speak unto Aaron, saying, Whosoever he be of thy seed in their generations that hath any blemish, let him not approach to offer the bread of his God.

18 For whatsoever man he be that hath a blemish, he shall not approach: a blind man, or a lame, or he that hath a flat nose, or any thing superfluous,

19 Or a man that is brokenfooted, or brokenhanded,

20 Or crookbackt, or a dwarf, or that hath a blemish in his eye, or be scurvy, or scabbed, or hath his stones broken;

21 No man that hath a blemish of the seed of Aaron the priest shall come nigh to offer the offerings of the Lord made by fire: he hath a blemish; he shall not come nigh to offer the bread of his God.

22 He shall eat the bread of his God, both of the most holy, and of the holy.

23 Only he shall not go in unto the vail, nor come nigh unto the altar, because he hath a blemish; that he profane not my sanctuaries: for I the Lord do sanctify them.

24 And Moses told it unto Aaron, and to his sons, and unto all the children of Israel.

  1. They shall be holy unto their God, and not profane the name of their God: for the offerings of the Lord made by fire, and the bread of their God, they do offer: therefore they shall be holy. (‭Leviticus‬ ‭21‬:‭6‬ KJV)

  2. And the daughter of any priest, if she profane herself by playing the whore, she profaneth her father: she shall be burnt with fire.

  3. 16 Then the LORD said to Moses, 17“Give the following instructions to Aaron: In all future generations, none of your descendants who has any defect will qualify to offer food to his God.

If one had physical defects, others would see them, and possibly say to themselves “what other defects do they have”. More importantly, spiritually God wants us to be as pure, clean and holy as possible. No one should have any spiritual defects, they should have repented, asked for forgiveness, and live a holy life.

  4. An animal that had blemishes or defects in his body could not be offered unto the Lord. (Lev. 22:21-22)
The priest who had blemishes or defects in his body could not offer offerings, go in unto the vail, or come nigh unto the altar. (Lev. 21:17-24)
Jesus is coming back for a church without spot, wrinkle, or blemish. (Eph. 5:27)

We serve a Holy God. Therefore, Be Ye Holy, for He Is Holy.

  5. 6. They must be set apart as holy to their God and must never bring shame on the name of God. They must be holy, for they are the ones who present the special gifts to the LORD, gifts of food for their God. NLT

I would never want to bring shame on the Name of God who has shown me so much mercy, grace, forgiveness, love…

  6. 6 They must be set apart as holy to their God and must never bring shame on the name of God. They must be holy, for they are the ones who present the special gifts to the Lord, gifts of food for their God. (NLT)

We too must be holy and set apart. We must be sure as we proclaim ourselves to be followers of Christ, as we say we believe that Jesus is God, we also need to lead a life that proves it. We can’t say such things then turn around and sin. A lot of people can talk the talk, but can you walk the walk of faith and holiness above the temptations of this world?

  7. 5 They shall not make baldness upon their head, neither shall they shave off the corner of their beard, nor make any cuttings in their flesh.

6 They shall be holy unto their God, and not profane the name of their God: for the offerings of the Lord made by fire, and the bread of their God, they do offer: therefore they shall be holy.

Reminds me of what Bro. Johnson told me about when David sent out men to a land and they were perceived as spies, and they cut off half their beard, and David told them to stay there until it grew back.

I beleive that God wants our best! Not man’s perception of best, he judges us by our heart so he knows what our BEST IS…I beleive what defile an offering is the condition our heart, and attitude when we present it to him. HE IS OUR GID, HE SACRIFICED HIS LIFE FOR ME, HE DESERVES MY BEST! My best isn’t the same as someone else’s best, God sees us as individuals and we all aren’t on the same level spiritually,

Luke 12: 48 (48 But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more.

  8. JESUS SHOULD BE YOUR ONE TRUE LOVE

7 They shall not take a wife that is a whore, or profane; neither shall they take a woman put away from her husband: for he is holy unto his God.

We all know that The Word of God is TRUE, so why you may ask will He ask Hosea to marry an unfaithful or whore??? The answer lies in the second part of that verse. He wanted His people Israel (now you and I) to see an image to remind them of their sins.
Hosea 1:2 The beginning of the word of the LORD by Hosea. And the LORD said to Hosea, Go, take unto thee a wife of whoredoms and children of whoredoms: for the land hath committed great whoredom, departing from the LORD.

When we put or think of anything else over our God we commit adultery on Jesus!!! You may think REALLY??? Yes!!! Really is farther than creating an idol. Is like I said before I am His and He is mine!!! Once you begin to see your relationship with Jesus that intimately there is no other way to explain it.
Eph 5:27 That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.

The Church has always been His Bride so Yes!!! There is no other way to see it.

Rev 22:17 And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.

The question remains are you going into the city looking for your Gomer or will you stay true to Your Beloved, JESUS CHRIST OUR LORD AND SAVIOR. MY PRAYER IS MAY WE REMAIN AT HIS FEET UNTIL THE DAY HE RETURNS LOOKING FOR HIS BRIDE WITHOUT BLEMISH NOR SPOT IN JESUS NAME AMEN!!!

  9. Profane
1.relating or devoted to that which is not sacred or biblical; secular rather than religious:
2.(of a person or their behavior) not respectful of orthodox religious practice; irreverent:

12 Neither shall he go out of the sanctuary, nor profane the sanctuary of his God; for the crown of the anointing oil of his God is upon him: I am the Lord.

This verse just leaped out at me. Reminded me of the time I use to laugh at people that went to church. I use to think that it was such a waste of time, these people have no life. My priorities were messed up then. I thank God for showing me the things that were wrong in my life. This has been a real eye opener for me. Not only my physical eyes, but also my spiritual ones. I love how God has flipped me into a mighty man of valor. I am a child of God, he is the author of my salvation. I am the sanctuary, the temple, and the church. That is how God sees me today and always. That is how I want to see my self. I believe that I’m on the right path now. God loves his children and this is all that he wants of all of his children.

Luk 18:16 But Jesus called them unto him, and said, Suffer little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.
Luk 18:17 Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child shall in no wise enter therein.

This is how we need to come to him. God will guide, teach, and help us to grow up into his kingdom. We just have to come to him as a child. I have learned and grown so much in the short time that we have been at POFW. Always GROW and let God fill you with his love and knowledge……Have a blessed day…Amen!!

  10. GODS GREAT GRACE

16 And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,
17 Speak unto Aaron, saying, Whosoever he be of thy seed in their generations that hath any blemish, let him not approach to offer the bread of his God.
18 For whatsoever man he be that hath a blemish, he shall not approach: a blind man, or a lame, or he that hath a flat nose, or any thing superfluous,
19 Or a man that is brokenfooted, or brokenhanded,
    20 Or crookbackt, or a dwarf, or that hath a blemish in his eye, or be scurvy, or scabbed, or hath his stones broken;
21 No man that hath a blemish of the seed of Aaron the priest shall come nigh to offer the offerings of the Lord made by fire: he hath a blemish; he shall not come nigh to offer the bread of his God.

The GRACE of GOD makes available to us the opportunity to approach JESUS the King of Kings even though we are blemished. When JESUS died on the cross the Old Covenant was completed. Atonement was made for the sins of man through the death of JESUS. The veil of the temple was rent and now access can be made of everyone.

Hebrews 4:14 Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession.
15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.
16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

Everyone come boldly or courageously to the throne of GRACE. As believers in JESUS and people of FAITH we have immediate access to GOD.

Get UP and GO with a repented heart to the throne of GOD.

    iRepent
    iPraise

  11. Prov 30:7-9
And then he prayed, “God, I’m asking for two things before I die; don’t refuse me—Banish lies from my lips and liars from my presence.

How awesome would it be to never have to wonder if what a person is telling you is the truth or not! I have had man conversations where I instantly felt this person was lying to me. Sometimes, there might have been a good reason, to save their job, to deny guilt, etc… Other times, it seems people just enjoy fabricating stories and would rather lie about something than tell the truth. I have been a liar. I can remember being in situations where lying might save my job or friendship with someone. In the end, it did not work but in the moment it seemed the only way out. I learned through the years honesty is the only way.

Early in my life my supervisors would have to debate whether to believe my version or someone else. Now, even this past week, when I tell my supervisors something they do not question me. They know through bad times that I am going to tell the truth; even when the truth hurts me.

  13. (6)They shall not be holy unto their god and not profane the name of their god for the offering of the Lord Made by fire and the bread of their god they do offer therefore they shall be holy

  14. Leviticus 21-9 If a priest’s daughter defiles herself by becoming a prostitute she disgraces her father she must be burned in the fire. The high priest the one among his brothers who has had the anointing oil poured on his head and who has been ordained to wear the priestly garments must not let his hair become unkempt or tear his clothes. He must not enter place where there is a dead body. He must not make himself unclean even for his father or mother nor leave the sanctuary of his God or desecrated it because he has been dedicated by the anointing oil of his God I am the Lord.

  15. 6 They shall be holy unto their God, and not profane the name of their God: for the offerings of the Lord made by fire, and the bread of their God, they do offer: therefore they shall be holy

We as Christians proclaim the name of God everywhere we go, but do we put that name to shame with our actions? When we say the name of God do they see him in us too? Do they see holiness or darkness? We must proclaim the name of God not only with our mouth but with our actions in everything we do, not just part of the time but everyday!!

  16. 12 Neither shall he go out of the sanctuary nor desecrate or make ceremonially unclean the sanctuary of his God, for the crown or consecration of the anointing oil of his God is upon him. I am the Lord.
    (Leviticus 21:12 AMP)

The anointing is costly, expensive, valuable, and never to be taken for granted. When God anoints it is a special act that he does not just give liberally to the whole world. Anointing comes as a direct result of God’s ultimate decision.

Saul was anointed by Samuel because God chose to anoint Saul.
David was anointed by Samuel because it was God’s choice.
Aaron and his sons were anointed because God said they needed to be.

God chooses who to anoint and why. Because of this highly treasured and greatly honored practice we should be careful how we act, walk, and talk. If God has anointed us then it should be held in high esteem.

As dead gadflies cause a compound of oil to stink, to bubble forth, So a little frivolity outweighs wisdom and glory Ecclesiastes 10:1 (CLV)

One dead fly can cause the oil to stink. Guard and protect the anointing and the anointed.

  17. iLove to grow in the Word
21No descendant of Aaron who has a defect may approach the altar to present special gifts to the lord. Since he has a defect, he may not approach the altar to offer food to his God.

Praise the Lord for the blood of Jesus. Wow, who in todays society would be able to go before the Lord. We all have defects, not only in our bodies, but spiritually as well. Defected yet loved, the cross allows us to humbly go before the Lord in a time of need.

  18. They must be set apart as holy to their God and must never bring shame on the name of God. They must be holy, for they are the ones who present the special gifts to the Lord , gifts of food for their God.
    Leviticus 21:6 NLT

As Apostolics we must fillow the order that God put for us and thats to follow the example of our man of God. Just how he strives for holiness and sets himself apaet from this world, we too must set ourselves apart and show the the difference not only to others but also our families.

  19. Lev. 21:1-24
Sounds like standards of Holiness for the priest

21:12 Neither shall we go out of the sanctuary, nor profane the sanctuary of his God; for the crown of the anointing oil of his God is upon him: I am the Lord.

Exodus 29:6,7 And thou shalt put the mitre upon his head, and put the holy crown upon the mitre. 7. Then shalt thou take the anointing oil, and pour upon his head, and anoint him.

  20. 6 They shall be holy unto their God, and not profane the name of their God: for the offerings of the Lord made by fire, and the bread of their God, they do offer: therefore they shall be holy.

  21. If you’re going to come before God, it has to be done a certain way. You wouldn’t just walk into a courtroom before a judge any way you wanted to, so coming before God should be held at a higher respect. Those who obey the word of God will see the blessings of God.

  22. Verse 8 AMP “You shall consecrate him, therefore, for he offers the food of your God; he shall be holy to you; for I the Lord, who sanctifies you, am holy.” Same verse NLT “You must treat them as holy because they offer up food to your God. You must consider them holy because I, the Lord, am holy, and I make you holy.” My God is holy.

  23. God is holy! He know that will be impossible for many of us to be near to Him. He made a new covenant in His blood and in His name. Thank you Jesus!

  24. We are a reflection of God so we need to make sure that we conduct ourselves in a manner of holiness. We serve a holy God, a righteous God so therefore we need to be holy and righteous. Our sacrifices should be without blemishes and imperfections.

  25. 6 They shall be holy unto their God, and not profane the name of their God: for the offerings of the Lord made by fire, and the bread of their God, they do offer: therefore they shall be holy
this verse and the last few chapters consistently show the importance of holiness. God truly values Holiness. He said be holy for I am holy. The way we look on the inside and out matters to God, the way we conduct ourselves on a daily manner matters to God. We should seek to live a life that is holy and separated unto the Lord.

  26. only the ones who didn’t have any physical flaws could step into the holy place. the way I took this was that it was like the sheep that couldn’t be sacrificed if they had any blemish. The reason for this was to keep the holy place holy.

  27. The people that had any physical flaw couldn’t go into the holy pace. The way I looked at this was how when the sheep was sacrificed it couldn’t have any blemishes. The reason for this is to keep the holy place holy

  28. 23 Only he shall not go in unto the vail, nor come nigh unto the altar, because he hath a blemish; that he profane not my sanctuaries: for I the Lord do sanctify them.

24 And Moses told it unto Aaron, and to his sons, and unto all the children of Israel.

When Jesus gave himslef for us on the cross the vail was broken granting us acces to approach the Holy one of Israel our King and savior Jesus.

  29. “Moses delivered this message to Aaron, his sons, and to all the People of Israel.”
    ‭‭Leviticus‬ ‭21:24‬ ‭MSG‬‬
    http://bible.com/97/lev.21.24.msg

Sometimes sermons will have unwanted messages, but that does not mean it should prevent the messenger from doing what the Lord instructs him to do. Pray that our pastor preaches the words God wants us to hear.

  30. Wholly holy

These last few chapters have been talking about keeping the holy place holy. How we should respect and reverence the place of God. The blemish in the people today is in their hearts. We say come as you are but when you get to a certain point with God you have to come clean. You can’t go any further until you are cleansed. You are presented without blemish to him. David cried ” create in me a clean heart on Lord” he wanted to enter into that familiar holy place again but he felt so far from it. To present ourselves spotless before the Lord it has to start with our heart. Let every blemish, hurt or sin be taken from our heart so that we can go to the holy of Holies.

  31. “And the Lord said unto Moses, Speak unto the priests the sons of Aaron, and say unto them”. The word of God said he spoke unto Moses. One should never doubt that the same is still true today. Dear God, help us to truly hear

  32. “They shall be holy unto their God, and not profane the name of their God: for the offerings of the Lord made by fire, and the bread of their God, they do offer: therefore they shall be holy.” The Priest had additional responsibilities because of the offerings he made. God help us to see there is more to it than just simply an offering, in Jesus name. May God Bless America, Israel, Jerusalem, and you all in Jesus name, Amen!

  33. v22 He shall eat the bread of his GOD, both of the most holy, and of the holy.

God demanded reverence and respect for HIS precepts and called no room for carelessness or sloppiness in ministering or they would be slain.
As HIS CHURCH , we are a royal priesthood that ministers unto the LORD by fee worship and devotion and reverence.

  34. God himself is holy and perfect. Along with the sacrificial animals which had been unblemished, the priests who served before God, as a picture of the future perfect priest, that is Jesus must also be perfect, without any “defect” (Vs17). No callousness or discrimination on Gods part produced this rule, only his desire that his people should see before him, in his holy sanctuary, a picture of the perfect holiness he requires. These lame and blind and impaired individuals are still able to eat of the holy foods, and are, therefore, provided for; but they are not allowed to serve within the sanctuary. Ok perfect High Priest, Jesus Christ, has now produced for us the clearest and most beautiful picture of holiness of God. All his people are part of a new “royal priesthood” (1Pe 2:9). Every defect, every sin, every imperfection is covered by Jesus’ blood and grace. All who belong to him are acceptable, able to come before him in worship and in service.

  35. We should be perfect when offering to the Lord. The Holy Ghost comes upon us and we burn with his holy fire, but if we have spots, blemishes, or imperfection either God won’t receive the offering, or it might cause us to die. Be ye holy.

  36. Holiness

Most people think Holiness is not important anymore but there are so may chapterseem in the Bible that deal with holiness. We cannot live at the same standard as everyone else but we should follow the Word of God. It is the standard we live by and the Word we stand on.

  37. 6 They shall be holy unto their God, and not profane the name of their God: for the offerings of the Lord made by fire, and the bread of their God, they do offer: therefore they shall be holy.

Be holy unto the Lord for He is holy!!!!! I want to be just like you Jesus!!!! Increase my faith because I know I serve a mighty God

  38. 6 They shall be holy unto their God, and not profane the name of their God: for the offerings of the Lord made by fire, and the bread of their God, they do offer: therefore they shall be holy
Don’t copy the world and how they operate. We are under a different regulation than the world.
