Numbers 6

1 And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,

2 Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When either man or woman shall separate themselves to vow a vow of a Nazarite, to separate themselves unto the Lord:

3 He shall separate himself from wine and strong drink, and shall drink no vinegar of wine, or vinegar of strong drink, neither shall he drink any liquor of grapes, nor eat moist grapes, or dried.

4 All the days of his separation shall he eat nothing that is made of the vine tree, from the kernels even to the husk.

5 All the days of the vow of his separation there shall no razor come upon his head: until the days be fulfilled, in the which he separateth himself unto the Lord, he shall be holy, and shall let the locks of the hair of his head grow.

6 All the days that he separateth himself unto the Lord he shall come at no dead body.

7 He shall not make himself unclean for his father, or for his mother, for his brother, or for his sister, when they die: because the consecration of his God is upon his head.

8 All the days of his separation he is holy unto the Lord.

9 And if any man die very suddenly by him, and he hath defiled the head of his consecration; then he shall shave his head in the day of his cleansing, on the seventh day shall he shave it.

10 And on the eighth day he shall bring two turtles, or two young pigeons, to the priest, to the door of the tabernacle of the congregation:

11 And the priest shall offer the one for a sin offering, and the other for a burnt offering, and make an atonement for him, for that he sinned by the dead, and shall hallow his head that same day.

12 And he shall consecrate unto the Lord the days of his separation, and shall bring a lamb of the first year for a trespass offering: but the days that were before shall be lost, because his separation was defiled.

13 And this is the law of the Nazarite, when the days of his separation are fulfilled: he shall be brought unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation:

14 And he shall offer his offering unto the Lord, one he lamb of the first year without blemish for a burnt offering, and one ewe lamb of the first year without blemish for a sin offering, and one ram without blemish for peace offerings,

15 And a basket of unleavened bread, cakes of fine flour mingled with oil, and wafers of unleavened bread anointed with oil, and their meat offering, and their drink offerings.

16 And the priest shall bring them before the Lord, and shall offer his sin offering, and his burnt offering:

17 And he shall offer the ram for a sacrifice of peace offerings unto the Lord, with the basket of unleavened bread: the priest shall offer also his meat offering, and his drink offering.

18 And the Nazarite shall shave the head of his separation at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, and shall take the hair of the head of his separation, and put it in the fire which is under the sacrifice of the peace offerings.

19 And the priest shall take the sodden shoulder of the ram, and one unleavened cake out of the basket, and one unleavened wafer, and shall put them upon the hands of the Nazarite, after the hair of his separation is shaven:

20 And the priest shall wave them for a wave offering before the Lord: this is holy for the priest, with the wave breast and heave shoulder: and after that the Nazarite may drink wine.

21 This is the law of the Nazarite who hath vowed, and of his offering unto the Lord for his separation, beside that that his hand shall get: according to the vow which he vowed, so he must do after the law of his separation.

22 And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,

23 Speak unto Aaron and unto his sons, saying, On this wise ye shall bless the children of Israel, saying unto them,

24 The Lord bless thee, and keep thee:

25 The Lord make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee:

26 The Lord lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.

27 And they shall put my name upon the children of Israel, and I will bless them.

The Word of God is forever true and settled in the heavens. The promises of God still stand today and if we claim them we shall have them. Lord Jesus, we bless The Pentecostals of Fort Worth and pray that YOU are blessing The Pentecostals of Fort Worth. Let each of us claim what belongs to us and let us work with all our hearts. Thank You Lord, I believe that our help is in the house, we bless the wonderful name of Jesus.

  2. Verses 24-27 AMP “The Lord bless you, and keep you [protect you, sustain you, and guard you]; The Lord make His face shine upon you [with favor], And be gracious to you [surrounding you with lovingkindness];
The Lord lift up His countenance (face) upon you [with divine approval],
And give you peace [a tranquil heart and life].’ So Aaron and his sons shall put My name upon the children of Israel, and I will bless them.” Same verses CEV “I pray that the Lord will bless and protect you, and that he will show you mercy and kindness. May the Lord be good to you and give you peace.” Then the Lord said, “If Aaron and his sons ask me to bless the Israelites, I will give them my blessing.” These verses reminded me of our “Pray Every Day” prayer…..1 Chronicles 4:10 “……Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me! And God granted him that which he requested.”

There’s even an old testament scripture that shows the importance of the Name. So thankful for the name of Jesus that is more than blessed me it has saved me.

“And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.”

  7. 7 He shall not make himself unclean for his father, or for his mother, for his brother, or for his sister, when they die: because the consecration of his God is upon his head.

8 All the days of his separation he is holy unto the Lord.

To think they went though so many specific things just to be consecrated or seperate unto the Lord. A “crown” is one of the words that the Strong’s concordance calls it. I figure naturally when someone comes into a place or a role of kingship or royalty it is not done lightly. There’s probably rituals, traditions or some type of order that someone has to go through in order to wear that crown.

I feel as though it should be the same way spiritually. When we consecrate ourselfs to the Lord it should not be something we do lightly or half heartedly. After all, the way it was intended to happen came with such specifications.

I pray we would begin to take seriously the things of God and not claim to be seperate from this world if or hearts are still fornicating with carnality.

I pray we would whole heartedly consecrate ourselves to God and not allow ourselfs to be made unclean so easily as this world would have it

  8. 12 And he shall consecrate unto the Lord the days of his separation, and shall bring a lamb of the first year for a trespass offering: but the days that were before shall be lost, because his separation was defiled.

Could you imagine a week long fast, and because you have a breath mint or sin, you have to start all over. This was even bigger. These people would vow vows sometimes for years at a time.
Today we “promise” and when we fail, we shrug our shoulders and go on, but here it was not that way. A promise is a vow. We must continue to strive to keep our vows to the Lord in our IFT pledges, and in every other aspect of our lives.

  9. 24 ‘May the Lord bless you and protect you.
25 May the Lord smile on you and be gracious to you.
26 May the Lord show you his favor and give you his peace.’
27 Whenever Aaron and his sons bless the people of Israel in my name, I myself will bless them.” (NLT)

Be blessed POFW, in Jesus Name!

  10. The Lord bless thee, and keep thee:

25 The Lord make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee:

26 The Lord lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.

27 And they shall put my name upon the children of Israel, and I will bless them.

A lot of people see our standards as something difficult or obligatory to be able to be a Pentecostal. I have always seen it as an honor, a way to show others that I belong to Him. That I am ONE of His PECULIAR PEOPLE. What comes with it is a lot of responsibilities and blessings. Do not worry of what society expects of you, it is better to offend society than to offend our Lord Jesus Christ. Keep us separate oh Lord, holy in your sight. Amen

  11. 24 God bless you and keep you, 25 God smile on you and gift you, 26 God look you full in the face and make you prosper. 27 In so doing, they will place my name on the People of Israel – I will confirm it by blessing them.” MSG
Reading these verses reminded me of the song:
Bless the Lord o my soul and all that is within me
    Bless his holy name
When we give and it hurts the pocketbook GOD will bless when we least except it. It may not always be in money, it could be good health and or a better job….

  12. 26 The Lord lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.

Have you ever gotten the “evil eye” from someone? If you are part of the music ministry at POFW, you likely have seen this look from Sis Watts at times. I have seen evil eyes from many people through my life. Take away a child’s favorite toy; evil eye. Say the wrong thing to your spouse; evil eyes. So, what are evil eyes? Are they looks that convey a person’s interest in you being uncomfortable or even come to harm; sometimes. Other times, these evil eyes are more looks of disappointment; these are the worst.

The Lord lift up his countenance upon thee, and give you peace. God does not have evil eyes. His eyes love and his expressions are for our good. God wants to bless us; get this – He WANTS to bless us. What are God’s blessings; favor and protection? Even the simplest nursery song states: “For the Father up above is looking down with love”. What a great God we serve!!

  13. 7 He shall not make himself unclean for his father, or for his mother, for his brother, or for his sister, when they die: because the consecration of his God is upon his head.

8 All the days of his separation he is holy unto the Lord.

We should live separate from this world not because we have to, but as a symbol of our relationship with God!

  14. 8 All the days of his separation he is holy unto the Lord.

Our separation from this world makes our days more holy unto the Lord.
2Cor 6:17 Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you,

  15. 2 Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When either man or woman shall separate themselves to vow a vow of a Nazarite, to separate themselves unto the Lord:

Separation unto the Lord is a vow between an individual and God. God calls us to be a holy, peculiar (which means set apart) people. He doesn’t want us to act, dress, be, have attitude likes, display actions like the world. He expects us to take on His nature, attributes, love, compassion towards and for people to reflect Him in their lives.

It is a privilege and honor to be chosen by the Lord to be a separate people. It always boggles my mind why some despise the life of a true apostolic who has chosen the path of living a holy separated life.

  16. 8 All the days of his separation he is holy unto the Lord

When we come to Christ we separate ourselves from everything and become just like Jesus. There should be a difference as a before Christmas and after Christ. Jesus is the only one that will change us. I’ve heard obedience to His Word is everything. Even if we think its not for us Jesus is always right!!! He would’ve chosen us if he knew we couldn’t handle it. In you I trust for I can do all things through you!!!! You are my Rock!!!!! Glory!!!!

  17. 27 Whenever Aaron and his sons bless the people of Israel in my name, I myself will bless them.”

How great is our God to use us and not only bless us but we get to bless others!

  18. THE LORD BLESS YOU

24 The Lord bless thee, and keep thee:
25 The Lord make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee:
26 The Lord lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.
27 And they shall put my name upon the children of Israel, and I will bless them.

I pray the LORD JESUS help us in making this passage our daily greeting.

“The LORD Bless and keep thee in JESUS name.”

We must become fanatic encouragers that are contagious and infectious with the joy of the LORD and spread cheer everywhere we GO.

  19. Numbers 6:2, “Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When either man or woman shall separate themselves to vow a vow of a Nazarite, to separate themselves unto the LORD:”

Nazarite comes from the Hebrew word Nazir meaning consecrated or separated.

The vow of the Nazarite was to express ones special desire to draw close to God and separate ones self from the comforts and pleasures of this world.

As a child of God, we need to separate (set apart) ourselves from the comforts and pleasures of this world, and consecrate (dedicate) ourselves to God and the work of his kingdom. Roman’s 12:1 says, “I BESEECH you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.”

  20. 7 He shall not make himself unclean for his father, or for his mother, for his brother, or for his sister, when they die: because the consecration of his God is upon his head.

8 All the days of his separation he is holy unto the Lord.

    1 Peter 1:16

Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.

We do not take the vow of the Nazarene but we are holy to the lord. No one, not even our family, is worth losing or compromising our holiness. We have come out from them in the world separating ourselves to the Lord. We cannot go back now.

  21. 9 And if any man die very suddenly by him, and he hath defiled the head of his consecration; then he shall shave his head in the day of his cleansing, on the seventh day shall he shave it.

There is No Excuse…God Said during the separation to stay away from unclean things, so this includes accidents, God don’t play when it comes to making a vow and it is better not to make one then to make one and not keep it! He didn’t count the time before, so he had to start all over and make amends for the mistake which seems like God looked on it like a sin! So when I make a vow to the Lord it will be in my best interest to complete my vow! Thank you Jesus

  22. 21 This is the law of the Nazarite who hath vowed, and of his offering unto the Lord for his separation, beside that that his hand shall get: according to the vow which he vowed, so he must do after the law of his separation.
22 And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,
23 Speak unto Aaron and unto his sons, saying, On this wise ye shall bless the children of Israel, saying unto them,
24 The Lord bless thee, and keep thee…

This blessing given in the next verses seems to me to come after the completion of their vow of separation to the Lord. When they dedicated & separated themselves to the Lord, they no doubt drew closer to him, and when this period of time was completed, they brought their sin offerings. They stood before the Lord cleansed of their sins. Then the blessings of God are upon us when our ways please him.

  23. 8 All the days of his separation he is holy unto the Lord.

We honor God by living holy and staying separate from the world. The Lord blesses us when we obey his commandments. I thank God for his mercy and grace, he gives us the opportunity to repent and live righteous, I thank God for his guidance because only he knows the plan he has in store for us.

  24. “Give the following instructions to the people of Israel. “If any of the people, either men or women, take the special vow of a Nazirite, setting themselves apart to the Lord in a special way,
    Numbers 6:2 NLT
    http://bible.com/116/num.6.2.NLT

We must be committed to serve the Lord which means we must set ourselves apart from this world. We cannot act, look, and like this wold does but there has to be a difference in us and its all for His Kingdom and His Glory.

  25. Seperated

The word “Seperated” alone is mentioned a total of 14 times in this Chapter in the KJV in the NIV its “Dedication”. It’s an everyday commitment to gaurd (seperate) ourselves from those things that are dead spiritually/physically to protect our relationship with God. Speration splits, breaks, and divides us from things and shows our dedication in our commitment to do so. You cannot be seperated without being commited, faithful and loyal. It’s not an easy walk but leaving old things behind will only make us stronger in our commitments displaying to others what a real Nazarite looks like.

  26. 3 He shall separate himself from wine and strong drink, and shall drink no vinegar of wine, or vinegar of strong drink, neither shall he drink any liquor of grapes, nor eat moist grapes, or dried.

Just like what Pastor preached last night, we should be partaking in drinking strong or alcoholic drinks, the bible clearly tells us not to. And for those that say that Jesus drank wine, so why shouldn’t I? The answer is simple, I don’t have the evidence to lay out here, but when you look up the word for wine that is referenced it refers to a type of grape juice that is NOT fermented where it is has alcohol. It is not the same type of wine that we refer to today, so Jesus did not drink wine and neither should we.

  27. 2“Give the following instructions to the people of Israel. “If any of the people, either men or women, take the special vow of a Nazirite, setting themselves apart to the LORD in a special way

Take your vow/promise you make with the Lord serious. It means sacrificing time, dedication to the vow, and going against the comforts of this world. God expects you to keep your promise, and at the end of the vow, blessings will be upon you.

  28. The price of separation.

2 Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When either man or woman shall separate themselves to vow a vow of a Nazarite, to separate themselves unto the Lord:

There is always a price to pay. To be separated. To be free. To have what you want. There is always a price to pay.

  29. Numbers 6:2

2 “Give the following instructions to the people of Israel.

“If any of the people, either men or women, take the special vow of a Nazirite, setting themselves apart to the Lord in a special way,

Long hair, no grapes, and no dead people with more sacrificing, so what’s the point? Why would someone want to become a Nazarite?

Two things happened as the result of becoming a Nazarite. One is that you would become more set apart or rather more holiness.

Without holiness no man can see the Lord. Holiness is the key to experiencing his presence in this life as well.

The second thing that came as a result of the Nazarite vow was it brought the individual closer to God. You didn’t have to be a priest to make the vow but you did have to keep your bow.

Holiness, separation, sacrifice, integrity brought about something more valuable that money, or position. It brought fellowship with the King and that is worth the vow.

  30. 2) speak unto the children of Israel and say unto them when either man or woman shall separate themselves to vow a vow of a nazarite separate themselves unto the lord 3) he shall separate himself from wine and strong drink and shall drink no vinegar of wine or vinegar or strong drink neither shall he drink any
liquor of grapes nor eat moist grapes or dried

We are not of this world we should not want to be we should separate ourselves that make us like this worldly thing

Proverbs 18:1 Through desire a man having separated himself seeketh and intermeddleth with all wisdom

Number 16:21 separate yourself from among this congregation that I may consume then in a moment

And if we make promise should stand to it

Vow – dedicate to someone or something for example deity marriage

Synonymous – oath ,pledge, promise ,bond covenant, commitment , profession , affirmation, assurance, guarantee

  31. 24 The Lord bless thee, and keep thee:

25 The Lord make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee:

26 The Lord lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.

27 And they shall put my name upon the children of Israel, and I will bless them
these words are a great blessing for anyone who can receive them. To have God blessing over our lives is the most important thing you could ever have we should live each day praying that we can make God smile and have his face shine upon us by our actions and our lifestyles.

  32. The Lord bless thee, and keep thee:

25 The Lord make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee:

26 The Lord lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.

27 And they shall put my name upon the children of Israel, and I will bless thee. Thank you Jesus for the blessings of this verse! I speak these blessings over my whole family

  34. Numbers 6:20 The Lord said to Moses tell Aaron and his sons this is how you are to bless the Israelites say to them the Lord bless you and keep you the Lord make his face shine upon you and be gracious to you the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace so they will put my name on the Israelites and I will bless them.

  35. Lord bless thee, and keep thee:

24 The Lord bless thee, and keep thee:

25 The Lord make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee:

26 The Lord lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.

27 And they shall put my name upon the children of Israel, and I will bless them.

May we pray this blessing to each other as the children of God. May we ask the Lord to bless your brother and or sister in Jesus’ name. We are told to pray for one another why not start here with the priestly blessing over the children of israel.

  38. 2 Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When either man or woman shall separate themselves to vow a vow of a Nazarite, to separate themselves unto the Lord:

We must learn to faithfully separate ourselves unto God. Push everything to the side and commit only to Him.

  39. 27 And they shall put my name upon the children of Israel, and I will bless them.

God blesses us in many ways we can’t see so just praise him in advance for what he’s going to do for you!!

  40. “And he shall consecrate unto the Lord the days of his separation, and shall bring a lamb of the first year for a trespass offering: but the days that were before shall be lost, because his separation was defiled.” The word of God (Jesus) stated the days before were lost (void, gone, etc.). One must be careful that one considers (observes) a matter in the way God (Judge) will, regardless of what one may feel or believe. Dear God, forgive us (me) for if it were not for your blood all our (my) days could have been lost. May God Bless America, Israel, Jerusalem, and you all in Jesus name, Amen!

  41. “And they shall put my name upon the children of Israel, and I will bless them.” The Lord provided instructions for blessing the children of Israel, however they were also expected to live right. The blessings of the Lord should be desired, far more than the things of this world. God help us so that we are mindful too give blessings, in Jesus name.

  42. 22 And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,

27 And they shall put my name upon the children.

I know this is the prayer that God has put in our pastors heart for us. It might not be worded exactly, but he speaks blessings over us. We not his church but Gods, he is just doing the work of a Pastor Fight for us at times, care for us, feed us, guide us, and grow us. He has been equipment to do a might work for Gods kingdom.
Thank you for the a praying man of God.

  43. Put on Jesus

27 And they shall put my name upon the children of Israel, and I will bless them.

    Romans 13:
13 Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying.
14 But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.

  44. 24 The Lord bless thee, and keep thee:

25 The Lord make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee:

26 The Lord lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.

27 And they shall put my name upon the children of Israel, and I will bless them.

  45. “All the days of his separation he is holy unto the Lord.”
    ‭‭Numbers‬ ‭6:8‬ ‭KJV‬‬

His is why we strive to live a life that is separated. We are striving to live a holy life unto the Lord.

  46. In Moses day a personal vow was as binding as a written contract . It was one thing to say you would do something but it was way much more serious when you made a solemn vow to do it .

  47. Let’s strive to use our tongue as a blessing , addicted to always finding the good in others. The tongue of the wise is healthy because it uses knowledge correctly.
