Numbers 18

1 And the Lord said unto Aaron, Thou and thy sons and thy father’s house with thee shall bear the iniquity of the sanctuary: and thou and thy sons with thee shall bear the iniquity of your priesthood.

2 And thy brethren also of the tribe of Levi, the tribe of thy father, bring thou with thee, that they may be joined unto thee, and minister unto thee: but thou and thy sons with thee shall minister before the tabernacle of witness.

3 And they shall keep thy charge, and the charge of all the tabernacle: only they shall not come nigh the vessels of the sanctuary and the altar, that neither they, nor ye also, die.

4 And they shall be joined unto thee, and keep the charge of the tabernacle of the congregation, for all the service of the tabernacle: and a stranger shall not come nigh unto you.

5 And ye shall keep the charge of the sanctuary, and the charge of the altar: that there be no wrath any more upon the children of Israel.

6 And I, behold, I have taken your brethren the Levites from among the children of Israel: to you they are given as a gift for the Lord, to do the service of the tabernacle of the congregation.

7 Therefore thou and thy sons with thee shall keep your priest’s office for everything of the altar, and within the vail; and ye shall serve: I have given your priest’s office unto you as a service of gift: and the stranger that cometh nigh shall be put to death.

8 And the Lord spake unto Aaron, Behold, I also have given thee the charge of mine heave offerings of all the hallowed things of the children of Israel; unto thee have I given them by reason of the anointing, and to thy sons, by an ordinance for ever.

9 This shall be thine of the most holy things, reserved from the fire: every oblation of their’s, every meat offering of their’s, and every sin offering of their’s, and every trespass offering of their’s which they shall render unto me, shall be most holy for thee and for thy sons.

10 In the most holy place shalt thou eat it; every male shall eat it: it shall be holy unto thee.

11 And this is thine; the heave offering of their gift, with all the wave offerings of the children of Israel: I have given them unto thee, and to thy sons and to thy daughters with thee, by a statute for ever: every one that is clean in thy house shall eat of it.

12 All the best of the oil, and all the best of the wine, and of the wheat, the firstfruits of them which they shall offer unto the Lord, them have I given thee.

13 And whatsoever is first ripe in the land, which they shall bring unto the Lord, shall be thine; every one that is clean in thine house shall eat of it.

14 Every thing devoted in Israel shall be thine.

15 Every thing that openeth the matrix in all flesh, which they bring unto the Lord, whether it be of men or beasts, shall be thine: nevertheless the firstborn of man shalt thou surely redeem, and the firstling of unclean beasts shalt thou redeem.

16 And those that are to be redeemed from a month old shalt thou redeem, according to thine estimation, for the money of five shekels, after the shekel of the sanctuary, which is twenty gerahs.

17 But the firstling of a cow, or the firstling of a sheep, or the firstling of a goat, thou shalt not redeem; they are holy: thou shalt sprinkle their blood upon the altar, and shalt burn their fat for an offering made by fire, for a sweet savour unto the Lord.

18 And the flesh of them shall be thine, as the wave breast and as the right shoulder are thine.

19 All the heave offerings of the holy things, which the children of Israel offer unto the Lord, have I given thee, and thy sons and thy daughters with thee, by a statute for ever: it is a covenant of salt for ever before the Lord unto thee and to thy seed with thee.

20 And the Lord spake unto Aaron, Thou shalt have no inheritance in their land, neither shalt thou have any part among them: I am thy part and thine inheritance among the children of Israel.

21 And, behold, I have given the children of Levi all the tenth in Israel for an inheritance, for their service which they serve, even the service of the tabernacle of the congregation.

22 Neither must the children of Israel henceforth come nigh the tabernacle of the congregation, lest they bear sin, and die.

23 But the Levites shall do the service of the tabernacle of the congregation, and they shall bear their iniquity: it shall be a statute for ever throughout your generations, that among the children of Israel they have no inheritance.

24 But the tithes of the children of Israel, which they offer as an heave offering unto the Lord, I have given to the Levites to inherit: therefore I have said unto them, Among the children of Israel they shall have no inheritance.

25 And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,

26 Thus speak unto the Levites, and say unto them, When ye take of the children of Israel the tithes which I have given you from them for your inheritance, then ye shall offer up an heave offering of it for the Lord, even a tenth part of the tithe.

27 And this your heave offering shall be reckoned unto you, as though it were the corn of the threshingfloor, and as the fulness of the winepress.

28 Thus ye also shall offer an heave offering unto the Lord of all your tithes, which ye receive of the children of Israel; and ye shall give thereof the Lord’S heave offering to Aaron the priest.

29 Out of all your gifts ye shall offer every heave offering of the Lord, of all the best thereof, even the hallowed part thereof out of it.

30 Therefore thou shalt say unto them, When ye have heaved the best thereof from it, then it shall be counted unto the Levites as the increase of the threshingfloor, and as the increase of the winepress.

31 And ye shall eat it in every place, ye and your households: for it is your reward for your service in the tabernacle of the congregation.

32 And ye shall bear no sin by reason of it, when ye have heaved from it the best of it: neither shall ye pollute the holy things of the children of Israel, lest ye die.

  1. The beginning of the chapter made me think of trust and how important working together is. A portion of verses 1-4 MSG says “….They will report to you as they go about their duties related to the Tent, but they must not have anything to do with the holy things of the Altar under penalty of death—both they and you will die!”.

The end of the chapter reminded me of giving our very best to God in everything, as verse 29 NLT says “Be sure to give to the Lord the best portions of the gifts given to you.”

  2. 26 Thus speak unto the Levites, and say unto them, When ye take of the children of Israel the tithes which I have given you from them for your inheritance, then ye shall offer up an heave offering of it for the Lord, even a tenth part of the tithe.

The Children of Israel are God’s chosen people, but it seems as though God has a special place in his heart for the Levites. We shouldn’t take lightly when God calls us out of egypt and uses us, the littlest thing that we can be used for , if we’re obedient God will reward us, he is such an awesome Father .

    Thank you Jesus

“You will not be considered guilty for accepting the LORD’s tithes if you give the best portion to the priests. But be careful not to treat the holy gifts of the people of Israel as though they were common. If you do, you will die.””
    ‭‭Numbers‬ ‭18:32‬ ‭NLT‬‬

God mapped out the plan and gave the instructions to the leadership. God is a God of order and he always wants things done his way. His way is the best way, and he’s even kind enough to describe the reasons why he wants it a certain way . Let’s follow God and do it his way So that we can grow at The Pentecostals of Fort Worth.

  4. . By offering the best part, you’ll avoid guilt, you won’t desecrate the holy offerings of the People of Israel, and you won’t die.” MSG

32 And ye shall bear no sin by reason of it, when ye have heaved from it the best of it: neither shall ye pollute the holy things of the children of Israel, lest ye die.KJV

By offering the best part you wont die. There, of course, is a spiritual death that can come from not offering our very best to God. Giving what we want to God (and not what He commands) is dangerous grounds. We would be operation in the spirit of Cain, of rebellion and pride. Let us offer ourselves and the best of what we have to God with a humble, Abel attitude….lest ye die.

    Philippians 4:19 KJV
But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

    He’s all I need,
    He’s all I need;
    Jesus is all I need.

  6. 29 Be sure to give to the Lord the best portions of the gifts given to you. (NLT)

Lord You deserve nothing less than my very best!!

  7. 20 And the Lord spake unto Aaron, Thou shalt have no inheritance in their land, neither shalt thou have any part among them: I am thy part and thine inheritance among the children of Israel

    Psalm 16:5 KJV
5 The Lord is the portion of mine inheritance and of my cup: thou maintainest my lot.

My ALL IN ALL, IN HIM I HAVE EVERYTHING!!! HALELUJAH!!! YOU ARE FAITHFUL DADDY!!!

    • Who needs any inheritance when we have got Jesus. We are blessed!

“But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”
      ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭6:33‬ ‭KJV‬‬
“Seek the Lord and his strength, seek his face continually.”
      ‭‭1 Chronicles‬ ‭16:11‬ ‭KJV‬‬

  8. 29 Out of all your gifts ye shall offer every heave offering of the Lord, of all the best thereof, even the hallowed part thereof out of it.

    Only the best!

  9. And ye shall bear no sin by reason of it, when ye have heaved from it the best of it: neither shall ye pollute the holy things of the children of Israel, lest ye die.

I as was reading this my thoughts went to, how we as the creation can pollute the things of God. When he blesses us, we say that we had something to do with it. Or when he’s changing things in our lives, we try to put in our two cents in. Yet he spoke everything into existence and formed us from the ground. My testimony for this year has already started. God has helped me understand some of the changes that he is performing in my life. Wow. I don’t know how or why. But all I know is that I need to stay out of the way of what God is doing in my life. Because I do not want to pollute what he is doing.

  10. “Don’t waste your breath on fools, for they will despise the wisest advice.”
    ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭23:9‬ ‭NLT‬‬

How much breathe and effort do we waste on people who do not want to hear the good news? Does this releieve us from trying, no. Only be more wise as to who we invest our time in and on.

  11. TAKE CHARGE

Leadership is a call. We have learned this year from the story of Joseph that Leadership “calls” us to elevate our influence to the place of leading ourselves and TAKE CHARGE over the HOLY things of GOD.

They were commissioned to not only protect the sanctuary and the altar, there was a special charge to keep wrath away from the people of GOD.

We should defend and protect UNITY in the church body as well as defend and protect the property of the church.

TAKE CHARGE to protect the spirit of the LORD in the church.

    iPraise
    iPray

  12. 9 All the heave offerings of the holy things, which the children of Israel offer unto the Lord, have I given thee, and thy sons and thy daughters with thee, by a statute for ever: it is a covenant of salt for ever before the Lord unto thee and to thy seed with thee.

The Lord was “covenanting” with Aaron regarding heave offerings that the people were to bring to the priest. The covenant is referred to as the “salt” covenant. Salt is a preservative, it keeps food in the state it is supposed to be in. This covenant was preserved and would not have an expiration time.

  13. Numbers 18:14
Everything devoted in Iseral shall be thine.

We need to pray every day for everything. Grow with Jesus Amen

  14. 29 Out of all your gifts ye shall offer every heave offering of the Lord, of all the best thereof, even the hallowed part thereof out of it.
30 Therefore thou shalt say unto them, When ye have heaved the best thereof from it, then it shall be counted unto the Levites as the increase of the threshingfloor, and as the increase of the winepress.

God has provided a living for both the priesthood and the Levites who served the priesthood. The Levites paid tithes on the offerings they received.

We see here that no matter our position, we still must give our best to God. No job is insignificant to God- whatever you do for the Lord, do it with all your might! Give it your best.

  15. With great power comes great responsibility. God gives a great responsibility to the tribe of Levi. On their shoulder lays the tabernacle and all that pertains to it. They are rewarded with a tenth of Israel. There are people out there that do not understand it. They like all the benefits that comes with the position without bearing the responsibilities. Our Pastors are full of responsibilities here in the world as well as in heaven come judgement day. Some sit criticize, opinionating over something they have no knowledge of, but when it comes to take responsibility they all run. God rewards according to your labor. Faith without actions is void. James 2:14 What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him?
15 If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food,
16 And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit?
17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.
18 Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.
19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.
20 But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?
21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar?
22 Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect?
23 And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God.
24 Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only.
25 Likewise also was not Rahab the harlot justified by works, when she had received the messengers, and had sent them out another way?
26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.

  16. Numbers 18:5-7 (MSG)
“Your job is to take care of the Sanctuary and the Altar so that there will be no more outbreaks of anger on the People of Israel. I personally have picked your brothers, the Levites, from Israel as a whole. I’m giving them to you as a gift, a gift from God, to help with the work of the Tent of Meeting. But only you and your sons may serve as priests, working around the Altar and inside the curtain. The work of the priesthood is my exclusive gift to you; it cannot be delegated – anyone else who invades the Sanctuary will be executed.”

God has chosen Pastor and our Ministers to do the Most Important work in the Church. The work that Pastor and the Ministers do is their exclusive gift from God, it is their work and no one else can do it.
But I found it amazing that we are “A Gift from God” to help in the church. For all of us who drive a bus or van, sing, play an instrument, teach, work in the office, clean, go on outreach, or any thing else, etc.. we are considered “A Gift.”

So let’s all stay in our place and work together for the kingdom of God and Grow!

  17. 26 T.hus speak unto the Levites, and say unto them, When ye take of the children of Israel the tithes which I have given you from them for your inheritance, then ye shall offer up an heave offering of it for the Lord, even a tenth part of the tithe.
throughout this chapter we see a continuing theme of giving and tithing. There’s no question that this is a principle of the Word of God that we should follow on a consistent basis. God honors giving and it starts with the tIthe

  18. 30 Therefore thou shalt say unto them, When ye have heaved the best thereof from it, then it shall be counted unto the Levites as the increase of the threshingfloor, and as the increase of the winepress.

God is in control of everything, he keeps order in the house of God, he disciplines us when we disobey but when we follow and obey him it all turns to his glory. We ultimately have a choice to live in deception by giving into the enemy or doing the will of God and live a righteous and holy life.

  19. 20 And the Lord spake unto Aaron, Thou shalt have no inheritance in their land, neither shalt thou have any part among them: I am thy part and thine inheritance among the children of Israel.

  20. 13 And whatsoever is first ripe in the land, which they shall bring unto the Lord, shall be thine; every one that is clean in thine house shall eat of it. MSG

God wants our best not what we have left.

  21. 20 The Lord said to Aaron, “You will have no inheritance in their land, nor will you have any share among them; I am your share and your inheritance among the Israelites.

Their is a cost to following Jesus. This is a concept the natural reasoning mind cannot understand. Jesus said in Matt 8:20 “Foxes have dens and birds have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head.” God has chosen, called, appointed and given charge to the descendants of Aaron the tribe of Levi to work in the tent of meeting and gave them boundaries in their duties. They are dedicated to the work of the kingdom like we are today. We both will not have an earthly inheritance in the land, but be provided for by the Lord. It will cost us the things of this world that can distract from the service of the kingdom. We cannot be like the man who wanted to bury his dead and the the other who wanted to say goodbye to his family (Lu 9:59-62). If wee seek first the kingdom of God he will use us for his service and proclaiming the Gospel. Leaving all reasoning and natural understanding behind is where we begin to trust God wholeheartedly and become the servants God desires to use. He will be our inheritance, everything we need now and forever.

  22. Vs 29 Out of all your gifts you shall offer all heave offerings of the Lord, and of all the best thereof, even the hallow part thereof out of it.
30 Therefore thou shalt say unto them, When ye have heaved the best thereof from it, then it shall be counted unto the Levites as the increase of the threshingfloor, and as the increase of the winepress.
Always gibe God your best there really isn’t any excuse not too. God always provides, even if you don’t have much to give we can still give our best. God see’s your heart!

  23. 29) out of all your gifts ye shall offer every heave-offering of the Lord of all the best therefore even the hallowed part thereof out of it

NLT 18: 29 Be sure to give to the Lord the best portions of the gifts given to you

  24. 20. You priests may own no property nor have any other income, for I am all that you need. TLB

    Philippians 4:19 KJV
But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

  25. 4 The Levites must join you in fulfilling their responsibilities for the care and maintenance of the Tabernacle,b but no unauthorized person may assist you.

This reminds me of the hospitality team. We have a leader/director for hospitality. Everyone else, we are to fulfill our responsibilities as greeters/hosts and take care of our church. We are to serve others, and be obedient to our director.

  26. Tithe
Those who tithed not only kept a Devine commandment they also expressed confidence in God’s ability to provide for.them..As God.said see if I will not throw open the flood gates to Heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room for it .
WOW I am so grateful that God has put inside of me to always tithed and also give sacrificial offerings. After reading.this.if.tourney a tither you should be what a great promise from God.

  27. 12 All the best of the oil, and all the best of the wine, and of the wheat, the firstfruits of them which they shall offer unto the Lord, them have I given thee.

When we give our offerings unto God, we need to give him our best, not the change at the bottom of our wallet we never use but our best that we can give, God will honor and bless that

  28. 20 And the Lord spake unto Aaron, Thou shalt have no inheritance in their land, neither shalt thou have any part among them: I am thy part and thine inheritance among the children of Israel.

    land, houses, money, treasures, etc.

all of these are possible inheritances yet they pale in comparison to the inheritance of the levite. There is no greater inheritance than the Lord himself. Love, joy peace, gentleness, goodness, faith are all things that come from God. We shouldn’t pursue these things but rather pursue God.

Seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and all these things shall be added unto thee

  29. And the Lord spake unto Aaron, Thou shalt have no inheritance in their land, neither shalt thou have any part among them: I am thy part and thine inheritance among the children of Israel.

Their inheritance would be God Himself, who provided for their needs through His people’s gifts.

  30. 29 Out of all your gifts ye shall offer every heave offering of the Lord, of all the best thereof, even the hallowed part thereof out of it.

D o not be worried about tomorrow for the Lord will take care of his people

  31. “But the tithes of the children of Israel, which they offer as an heave offering unto the Lord, I have given to the Levites to inherit: therefore I have said unto them, Among the children of Israel they shall have no inheritance.” The word of God (Jesus) clarified what would be given unto the Levites for their service. One that gives, as the word of God instructs, has done ones part and therefore will be blessed for one’s obedience. Dear God, help us to comprehend the blessings that come from giving according to your word. May God Bless America, Israel, Jerusalem, and you all in Jesus name, Amen!

  32. “And ye shall keep the charge of the sanctuary, and the charge of the altar: that there be no wrath any more upon the children of Israel.” The Lord instructed what was to be done, and what would happen if it was done. Unfortunately there are those today that only claim to do as the Lord instructs, which is apparent as there is no power. However the same is definitely not true of those that do as the Lord instructs. God bless as you direct those you have placed, over the sanctuary and altar, in Jesus name.

  33. 28 Thus ye also shall offer an heave offering unto the Lord of all your tithes, which ye receive of the children of Israel; and ye shall give thereof the Lord’S heave offering to Aaron the priest.
Before there’s a need, he has already made provison.

  34. The Levites were not to inherit land. Land was often used to grow crops. Therefore, without the ability to grow crops, there were compensated with the tithes the people would bring. Thus, they were able to eat from these offerings. Similarly, spiritual leaders are taken care of the same way today. Our tithes and offerings provide them with substance. In both cases, there is no guarantee. They both are at the “mercy” of the people. Without offerings both would go without. It is truly a life of faith.

  35. Out of all the things you earn, learn, gain or obtain here on earth there is one thing that everyone needs to remember, the things of this world is not our inheritance. We can take nothing with us when the day comes were we God comes or we no longer have breath in our bodies. Focus on the important things, focus on eternity.

  36. “And the flesh of them shall be thine, as the wave breast and as the right shoulder are thine.”
    ‭‭Numbers‬ ‭18:18‬ ‭KJV‬‬

This scripture reminds me of a beautiful sermon I recently heard about the perfection of sacrifices and the skins that the priests get to keep. As a priest it was their gift o keep the skins of the animal. We must all examine our sacrifices. If they are sick, we will need to get another one that is pure.

  37. 32 And ye shall bear no sin by reason of it, when ye have heaved from it the best of it: neither shall ye pollute the holy things of the children of Israel, lest ye die.

God deserves out best in all we say and do. For we lI’ve according to His Kingdom.

  38. “”Speak to the Levites. Say to them, ‘You will receive the tenth from the people of Israel. I will give it to you as your share. When I do, you must give a tenth of that tenth as an offering to the Lord. Your offering will be considered as if you gave grain from a threshing floor. It will be considered as juice from a winepress. ” ‘In that way, you also will bring an offering to the Lord. You will bring it from the tenth you receive from the people of Israel. You must give the Lord’s part to the priest Aaron. You must bring it from the tenth you receive. You must bring to the Lord a part of everything that is given to you. It must be the best and holiest part.’”
    ‭‭Numbers‬ ‭18:26-29‬ ‭NIRV‬‬

No one was excluded from bringing their tithes.

  39. 29 Be sure to give to the Lord the best portions of the gifts given to you.

Let me give nothing less than my best to you God! You gave so much to me and you deserve only my best!

  40. And ye shall keep the charge of the sanctuary, and the charge of the altar: that there be no wrath any more upon the children of Israel.

God is pretty serious about keeping the church business going. If we want to stay in the favor of Hod we can just make sure the church is our priority, Thank God for leaders that keep us focused on what’s really important.

  41. 20 And the Lord spake unto Aaron, Thou shalt have no inheritance in their a lot land, neither shalt thou have any part among them: I am thy part and thine inheritance among the children of Israel.

    Full time ministry

This is one of the hardest parts of ministry. When a work is started, just like a baby needs a lot of attention, 24hr supervision, and many times late nights and sleepless days. When the work is not given the proper attention, it becomes what a part time job is, some side work that is secondary to personal life, sermons prepared on the fly, and the sad thing is that this were many churches stand. Part time ministry, and a church receiving part time dedication.

I’ve realized that ministry is a lot of hard work, even that I’ve only experienced a not so up close look at it. I see the dedication from the example of pastors that God has placed in my life, and I’m stand at awe at times with the work ethic that is given to have a revival church. I’m a truly blessed to be a part of this movement and were God is moving us.

  42. 20 And the Lord spake unto Aaron, Thou shalt have no inheritance in their land, neither shalt thou have any part among them: I am thy part and thine inheritance among the children of Israel

Jesus is all we need! He is that emptiness that everyone is looking for and that try to fill it with drugs, pornography, alcohol, etc. Nothing call fill us completely from that void that we are missing. Jesus is the only one that will satisfy us completely. When you are sad, PRAY! When you are mad, PRAY! When you are torn apart, PRAY! When you are worried, PRAY! When you are stressed, PRAY! When you are sick, PRAY!!! PRAY WITHOUT CEASING!!! HALLELUJAH!
