Numbers 23

1 And Balaam said unto Balak, Build me here seven altars, and prepare me here seven oxen and seven rams.

2 And Balak did as Balaam had spoken; and Balak and Balaam offered on every altar a bullock and a ram.

3 And Balaam said unto Balak, Stand by thy burnt offering, and I will go: peradventure the Lord will come to meet me: and whatsoever he sheweth me I will tell thee. And he went to an high place.

4 And God met Balaam: and he said unto him, I have prepared seven altars, and I have offered upon every altar a bullock and a ram.

5 And the Lord put a word in Balaam’s mouth, and said, Return unto Balak, and thus thou shalt speak.

6 And he returned unto him, and, lo, he stood by his burnt sacrifice, he, and all the princes of Moab.

7 And he took up his parable, and said, Balak the king of Moab hath brought me from Aram, out of the mountains of the east, saying, Come, curse me Jacob, and come, defy Israel.

8 How shall I curse, whom God hath not cursed? or how shall I defy, whom the Lord hath not defied?

9 For from the top of the rocks I see him, and from the hills I behold him: lo, the people shall dwell alone, and shall not be reckoned among the nations.

10 Who can count the dust of Jacob, and the number of the fourth part of Israel? Let me die the death of the righteous, and let my last end be like his!

11 And Balak said unto Balaam, What hast thou done unto me? I took thee to curse mine enemies, and, behold, thou hast blessed them altogether.

12 And he answered and said, Must I not take heed to speak that which the Lord hath put in my mouth?

13 And Balak said unto him, Come, I pray thee, with me unto another place, from whence thou mayest see them: thou shalt see but the utmost part of them, and shalt not see them all: and curse me them from thence.

14 And he brought him into the field of Zophim, to the top of Pisgah, and built seven altars, and offered a bullock and a ram on every altar.

15 And he said unto Balak, Stand here by thy burnt offering, while I meet the Lord yonder.

16 And the Lord met Balaam, and put a word in his mouth, and said, Go again unto Balak, and say thus.

17 And when he came to him, behold, he stood by his burnt offering, and the princes of Moab with him. And Balak said unto him, What hath the Lord spoken?

18 And he took up his parable, and said, Rise up, Balak, and hear; hearken unto me, thou son of Zippor:

19 God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?

20 Behold, I have received commandment to bless: and he hath blessed; and I cannot reverse it.

21 He hath not beheld iniquity in Jacob, neither hath he seen perverseness in Israel: the Lord his God is with him, and the shout of a king is among them.

22 God brought them out of Egypt; he hath as it were the strength of an unicorn.

23 Surely there is no enchantment against Jacob, neither is there any divination against Israel: according to this time it shall be said of Jacob and of Israel, What hath God wrought!

24 Behold, the people shall rise up as a great lion, and lift up himself as a young lion: he shall not lie down until he eat of the prey, and drink the blood of the slain.

25 And Balak said unto Balaam, Neither curse them at all, nor bless them at all.

26 But Balaam answered and said unto Balak, Told not I thee, saying, All that the Lord speaketh, that I must do?

27 And Balak said unto Balaam, Come, I pray thee, I will bring thee unto another place; peradventure it will please God that thou mayest curse me them from thence.

28 And Balak brought Balaam unto the top of Peor, that looketh toward jeshimon.

29 And Balaam said unto Balak, Build me here seven altars, and prepare me here seven bullocks and seven rams.

30 And Balak did as Balaam had said, and offered a bullock and a ram on every altar.

  1. Who can count the dust of Jacob, and the number of the fourth part of Israel? Let me die the death of the righteous, and let my last end be like his! And Balak said unto Balaam, What hast thou done unto me? I took thee to curse mine enemies, and, behold, thou hast blessed them altogether. (‭Numbers‬ ‭23‬:‭10-11‬ KJV)

    Praise The Lord!

When our nation truly turns its heart to The Lord, there is no way that we can be a cursed nation, but a blessed one!!!

If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. (‭2 Chronicles‬ ‭7‬:‭14‬ KJV)

No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is of me, saith the Lord. (‭Isaiah‬ ‭54‬:‭17‬ KJV)

    In JESUS name!!!!

“No curse can touch Jacob; no magic has any power against Israel. For now it will be said of Jacob, ‘What wonders God has done for Israel!’”
    ‭‭Numbers‬ ‭23:23‬ ‭NLT‬‬

When someone is blessed of God, no person curse that person. No witchcraft can work against us when we are covered by the blood. One thing we are fixing to find out however in a future chapter, is people have the ability to walk out from under the faithful covering of the Lord. If we are cursed, it’s not God’s fault but it’s because of our own lusts.

  3. BLESSED

19 God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?
20 Behold, I have received commandment to bless: and he hath blessed; and I cannot reverse it.

What a MIGHTY shield of HOPE for the believer. GOD cannot lie, because he is not man and there is no wickedness in HIM. A GOD commanded BLESSING is unrevokeable and cannot be removed. The FAITHFULNESS of GOD is unlimited.

Genesis 12:2 And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing:
3 And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.

Choose today to Pray and Speak a BLESSING on someone else, for we are recipients of what we sow.

1Corinthians 9:11 If we have sown unto you spiritual things, is it a great thing if we shall reap your carnal things?

2Corinthians 9:6 But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully.

Galatians 6:7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.

    Sow BLESSINGS and be BLESSED.

  4. What will Jesus do??

A campaign that made everyone think out of the box but in reality it was a book called In His Steps written in 1896 by Charles Monroe Sheldon. What will Jesus do? So here the question is 8 How shall I curse, whom God hath not cursed? or how shall I defy, whom the Lord hath not defied? The answer is simple enough YOU CAN NOT GO AGANST GOD’S WILL!!!!

  5. 23:19 God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent : hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?

Since God is truth, He does not lie; in fact, He cannot lie. He is unchanging. God is utterly different from man. Something that comes far too easily for many men is impossible for Almighty God: he cannot lie

Malachi 3:6 For I am the Lord, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.

  6. v19 GOD IS not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it ? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good ?

Thank you JESUS YOU have given us your infallible Word!
That’s far more valuable than money or property.

  7. Prov 28:9 God has no use for the prayers of the people who won’t listen to him.

Why should God have to listen to us whine and complain if we won’t listen to Him? The Lord loves us. He wants to communicate with us. Let’s take the time to communicate with the Lord. If we love our spouse or children do we not communicate with them? Of course we do. Why should our relationship with the Lord be any different?

  8. Numbers 23:5

5 The Lord gave Balaam a message for King Balak. Then he said, “Go back to Balak and give him my message.”

    Used but not Approved

Balaam was God’s messenger. He was his voice to Balak. He stood in a place of wonderful ability and talent that God has given. Through Balaam came the eternal words of the true creator of all.

But this doesn’t mean that Balaam was right with God. As a matter of fact he should have stood against the king and told him that God doesn’t change his mind. He should have no No I’m not going to another place to curse them.

Instead he kept trying. Yet the word reveals that Balaam was more interested in riches that obedience.

  9. Numbers 23:19-20
“God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good? Behold, I have received commandment to bless: and he hath blessed; and I cannot reverse it.”

God’s Word is Sure. If God said it, then that settles it!

  10. 11 ) and balak said unto balaam what hast thou done into me ? I took theme to curse enemies and behold thou hast blessed them altogether 12 ) and he answer ed and said must I not take heed to speak that which the Lord hath put in my mouth

  11. 13 And Balak said unto him, Come, I pray thee, with me unto another place, from whence thou mayest see them: thou shalt see but the utmost part of them, and shalt not see them all: and curse me them from thence.
19 God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?

We are not on our time but Gods time. If he has promised us something then I will be done but not on our time. Not always right now, tomorrow, next week or next month. It could be in a year or two, maybe five. We don’t know! Only He knows!!

  12. 25Then Balak said to Balaam, “Fine, but if you won’t curse them, at least don’t bless them!”

The pride of individuals will not let accept defeat. They will continue to do whatever they can to cause confusion and disarray. Eventually their pride will come back cause them to fail.

  13. 8 How shall I curse, whom God hath not cursed? or how shall I defy, whom the Lord hath not defied?

There’s the scripture that says whatever you bind on Earth, God will bind in heaven and whatever you loose on earth he will loose in heaven. Which is completely true but you also can’t go against God’s word while doing it. You can’t something on Earth just for your your own selfish reasons if it goes against God’s will. When we bind something, we gotta do it lined up to his will. He doesn’t want any of us to be sick, so that is something we can all bind in Jesus name. But if you were to say want to bind a co worker from a promotion because you want that promotion… how do you know God wants you to have it? It may be his plan to give it to the co worker. Things like that, we just need to be careful how we use the power that God has given us.

  14. 28 And Balak brought Balaam unto the top of Peor, that looketh toward jeshimon.

29 And Balaam said unto Balak, Build me here seven altars, and prepare me here seven bullocks and seven rams.

30 And Balak did as Balaam had said, and offered a bullock and a ram on every altar.

  15. 28 And Balak brought Balaam unto the top of Peor, that looketh toward jeshimon.

29 And Balaam said unto Balak, Build me here seven altars, and prepare me here seven bullocks and seven rams.

30 And Balak did as Balaam had said, and offered a bullock and a ram on every altar.

I must always have an alter built everywhere I ho!

  16. 9 God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?

20 Behold, I have received commandment to bless: and he hath blessed; and I cannot reverse it.
God is not a man, he doesn’t operate like us sinful humans! God doesn’t lie, his word doesn’t lie. God said it and it was so! He doesn’t wait on us for our approval. Once he says he is going to do it is done! Great and mighty are you God!

  17. “And the Lord put a word in Balaam’s mouth, and said, Return unto Balak, and thus thou shalt speak.” The Creator (God) told Balaam what to say. One should be mindful for God (Jesus) still tells man what to say, which it will never contradict his (God’s) own word. Dear God, help us not to be too prideful to hear. May God Bless America, Israel, Jerusalem, and you all in Jesus name, Amen!

  18. “And Balak said unto Balaam, What hast thou done unto me? I took thee to curse mine enemies, and, behold, thou hast blessed them altogether.” Balak was upset because Balaam would not curse, whom the Lord had blessed. It is very dangerous too make an attempt of cursing, whom the Lord has blessed. God bless those whom you will, in Jesus name.

  19. It’s important to listen to what God has to say. He has never lead anyone astray nor will he. We must remember if God is saying it, then it must be important.

  20. 19 God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?

20 Behold, I have received commandment to bless: and he hath blessed; and I cannot reverse it.
I’m thankful that God cannot lie. but that every word he says is truth. that means when he makes a promise to us we can trust him to fulfill it, when he says that a blessing is on the way we can look forward to seeing it.

  21. 25 And Balak said unto Balaam, Neither curse them at all, nor bless them at all.

Sometimes it’s better to not say anything at all. I had to learn this the hard way once. And boy sometimes like it says here. Just don’t say anything and let God do his work that needs to be done

  22. “God isn’t a mere man. He can’t lie. He isn’t a human being. He doesn’t change his mind. He speaks, and then he acts. He makes a promise, and then he keeps it.”
    ‭‭Numbers‬ ‭23:19‬ ‭NIRV‬‬

Thank you Jesus for being unchangable, unshakeable and unstoppable!

  23. Balak should have stopped trying to get a word from the prophet that wasn’t from God. It would have been better for him to accept the word and make peace with Israel.

  24. 19 God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?

20 Behold, I have received commandment to bless: and he hath blessed; and I cannot reverse it.

His promises are yea and amen… Believe the report of the Lord. If he is with you who can be against you? The question is will we position ourselves on the side of the Lord?

  25. Verse 26 NLT “But Balaam replied to Balak, “Didn’t I tell you that I can do only what the Lord tells me?” We must stand our ground and never deter from what the Lord gives us. We must never take our own stance on things; but, stand firmly in the Lord. It kinda reminds me of when children ask one parent something, they really don’t like that response; so, they go ask the other to see if they will get the response they really want!

  26. 19 God is not a man, so he does not lie. He is not human, so he does not change his mind. Has he ever spoken and failed to act? Has he ever promised and not carried it through? (NLT)

He has never failed us, He is always there to see us through. Why? Because He cannot lie! How awesome is our God; He is unchangeable, unshakable, and unstoppable!

  27. 5 And the Lord put a word in Balaam’s mouth, and said, Return unto Balak, and thus thou shalt speak.

Balaam sought the Lord for the words to speak before he ever opened his mouth. This is a great principle that we must put into action every day. Too many times what we say is “the Lord says” is only what we want people to do or hear. Seek first, then speak. If you don’t have an answer, be adult enough to say I’m going to seek the Lord before making a judgement or decision. God’s Word is alive and ever speaking, and we can find answers to any situation we face, but sometimes we have to dig that word out through prayer, fasting and searching. We cannot be afraid to find out what His word says about it. Once we know we are also accountable for what the Word says about it, and that i the reason many people don’t want to take the time to find their answer, because they already have in their mind what they are going to do.

  28. The word oracle is used 46 times in the Old Testament. It most often refers to a message from God given through an intermediary (medium). God gives messages through his prophets for example Isa 23:1; Jer 23:33-38), and they pass their message on to the people. Often the word oracle is used to denotes an upsetting or difficult message. The Greeks considered an oracle to be both a prophetic speech made by a pagan god through a human, as well as the human being who delivered it. Such prophecies were often made while the human oracle was under a sort of trance. Their is record of prophets who have been caught up in the Spirit of God much like this trance. For every legit of God their is a counterfeit trying to deceive.

  29. 19 God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?

20 Behold, I have received commandment to bless: and he hath blessed; and I cannot reverse it.

21 He hath not beheld iniquity in Jacob, neither hath he seen perverseness in Israel: the Lord his God is with him, and the shout of a king is among them.

Here Balaam seeks a word from God as to what he should do to the Israellite’s because Balak wants to curse them.

The word of God doesn’t allow Balaam to curse the Israelite’s instead he asks Balaam to bless them. Balak has bad intentions but Balaam refuses to curse. Balaaam seeked God first before he even considered doing wrong.

  30. 8 How shall I curse, whom God hath not cursed? or how shall I defy, whom the Lord hath not defied?

Whether every one wants to or not we can not go against what God has established. It’s like Paul, how we will a fight against God. It is impossible to go against God and win. What is it in the enemy’s mind that has convinced him he even has a chance.

That’s why we have to always be submitted to our man of God. Seek his counsel when we need direction. To always be under the covering and authority that Gif has placed us under.

  31. 20 Behold, I have received commandment to bless: and he hath blessed; and I cannot reverse it.
