Numbers 24

1 And when Balaam saw that it pleased the Lord to bless Israel, he went not, as at other times, to seek for enchantments, but he set his face toward the wilderness.

2 And Balaam lifted up his eyes, and he saw Israel abiding in his tents according to their tribes; and the spirit of God came upon him.

3 And he took up his parable, and said, Balaam the son of Beor hath said, and the man whose eyes are open hath said:

4 He hath said, which heard the words of God, which saw the vision of the Almighty, falling into a trance, but having his eyes open:

5 How goodly are thy tents, O Jacob, and thy tabernacles, O Israel!

6 As the valleys are they spread forth, as gardens by the river’s side, as the trees of lign aloes which the Lord hath planted, and as cedar trees beside the waters.

7 He shall pour the water out of his buckets, and his seed shall be in many waters, and his king shall be higher than Agag, and his kingdom shall be exalted.

8 God brought him forth out of Egypt; he hath as it were the strength of an unicorn: he shall eat up the nations his enemies, and shall break their bones, and pierce them through with his arrows.

9 He couched, he lay down as a lion, and as a great lion: who shall stir him up? Blessed is he that blesseth thee, and cursed is he that curseth thee.

10 And Balak’s anger was kindled against Balaam, and he smote his hands together: and Balak said unto Balaam, I called thee to curse mine enemies, and, behold, thou hast altogether blessed them these three times.

11 Therefore now flee thou to thy place: I thought to promote thee unto great honour; but, lo, the Lord hath kept thee back from honour.

12 And Balaam said unto Balak, Spake I not also to thy messengers which thou sentest unto me, saying,

13 If Balak would give me his house full of silver and gold, I cannot go beyond the commandment of the Lord, to do either good or bad of mine own mind; but what the Lord saith, that will I speak?

14 And now, behold, I go unto my people: come therefore, and I will advertise thee what this people shall do to thy people in the latter days.

15 And he took up his parable, and said, Balaam the son of Beor hath said, and the man whose eyes are open hath said:

16 He hath said, which heard the words of God, and knew the knowledge of the most High, which saw the vision of the Almighty, falling into a trance, but having his eyes open:

17 I shall see him, but not now: I shall behold him, but not nigh: there shall come a Star out of Jacob, and a Sceptre shall rise out of Israel, and shall smite the corners of Moab, and destroy all the children of Sheth.

18 And Edom shall be a possession, Seir also shall be a possession for his enemies; and Israel shall do valiantly.

19 Out of Jacob shall come he that shall have dominion, and shall destroy him that remaineth of the city.

20 And when he looked on Amalek, he took up his parable, and said, Amalek was the first of the nations; but his latter end shall be that he perish for ever.

21 And he looked on the Kenites, and took up his parable, and said, Strong is thy dwellingplace, and thou puttest thy nest in a rock.

22 Nevertheless the Kenite shall be wasted, until Asshur shall carry thee away captive.

23 And he took up his parable, and said, Alas, who shall live when God doeth this!

24 And ships shall come from the coast of Chittim, and shall afflict Asshur, and shall afflict Eber, and he also shall perish for ever.

25 And Balaam rose up, and went and returned to his place: and Balak also went his way.

  1. iLove to Grow in the Word

In today’s blog, it does not reveal the whole picture. So as I read it I had to do further research and here are more scriptures.

““But I have a few complaints against you. You tolerate some among you whose teaching is like that of Balaam, who showed Balak how to trip up the people of Israel. He taught them to sin by eating food offered to idols and by committing sexual sin.”
    ‭‭Revelation‬ ‭2:14‬ ‭NLT‬‬

““Why have you let all the women live?” he demanded. “These are the very ones who followed Balaam’s advice and caused the people of Israel to rebel against the LORD at Mount Peor. They are the ones who caused the plague to strike the LORD’s people. So kill all the boys and all the women who have had intercourse with a man.”
    ‭‭Numbers‬ ‭31:15-17‬ ‭NLT‬‬

“Which have forsaken the right way, and are gone astray, following the way of Balaam the son of Bosor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness;”
    ‭‭2 Peter‬ ‭2:15‬ ‭KJV‬‬

  2. 13 If Balak would give me his house full of silver and gold, I cannot go beyond the commandment of the Lord, to do either good or bad of mine own mind; but what the Lord saith, that will I speak?

No matter what the world offers, we must always obey God and speak only those things that are just and holy.

  3. 9. Like a lion, Israel crouches and lies down; like a lioness, who dares to arouse her? Blessed is everyone who blesses you, O Israel, and cursed is everyone who curses you.” NLT

It pays to bless Israel, and it’s wise to keep our distance (and our votes) away from anyone who doesn’t.

  4. “How attractive and considerable are your tents, O Jacob, and your tabernacles, O Israel! As valleys are they spread forth, as gardens by the riverside, as [rare spice] of lignaloes which the Lord has planted, and as cedar trees beside the waters. [Ps. 1:3.]”
    ‭‭Numbers‬ ‭24:5-6‬ ‭AMP‬‬

When we have more of Jesus in our lives all we can do is grow!

“Blessed is the one who obeys the law of the Lord. He doesn’t follow the advice of evil people. He doesn’t make a habit of doing what sinners do. He doesn’t join those who make fun of the Lord and his law. Instead, he takes delight in the law of the Lord. He thinks about his law day and night. He is like a tree that is planted near a stream of water. It always bears its fruit at the right time. Its leaves don’t dry up. Everything godly people do turns out well.”
    ‭‭Psalm‬ ‭1:1-3‬ ‭NIRV‬‬

  5. Eyes wide open

This chapter says that Balaams eyes and ears were open. All I could think about is the fact that there are so many people who God is opening their eyes to see the error of their ways and their ears to hear His voice yet their hearts are far from him.

Lord give the people of this region a heart of flesh. That they may be willing to receive from You all You have for them.

  6. 5 How goodly are thy tents, O Jacob, and thy tabernacles, O Israel!

We are of the linage of Jacob. We are a blessed people.

  7. STAY IN THE CHURCH

Balaam who was caught in the valley of decision. Finds revelation and his answer through the people of GOD.

GOD showed Balaam a type of the church.

They were BLESSED by GOD. (Grace/Favor was on them)
They were in the wilderness. (Strange land)
They were abiding. (Content but not complacent)
They were joyful. (Goodly tents – GOODLY – 2895. tobe; to be (transitively, do or make) good (or well) in the widest sense:—be (do) better, cheer, be (do, seem) good, (make) goodly, please, (be, do, go, play) well.

We learn from this chapter that we are wise to examine the entire situation, before making judgement. Also that we are wise to seek the LORD for revelation about HIS people.

Most importantly today we learn how important it is to STAY IN THE CHURCH.

GOD allowed Balaam to see a people that were joyfully content in serving the LORD and this picture is what GOD used to speak to Balaam.

We must never under value or underestimate how important our attendance is to the House of the LORD. Abide in your place in the CHURCH.

    iRepent
    iPraise
    iPray
    iWork
    iGive
    iReap

  8. 13 If Balak would give me his house full of silver and gold, I cannot go beyond the commandment of the Lord, to do either good or bad of mine own mind; but what the Lord saith, that will I speak?

Have we ever had a word from God for someone? Have we ever thought that maybe if we phrase it this way it will sound better? I have and had to then repent for my actions; not only to God but the person the message was for. “Either good or bad” – just the facts Mam. God does not need a millennial interpretation for His word. His word is timeless. He can speak directly to the heart, mind and soul. Our duty is simply to speak.

  9. 13 ‘Even if Balak were to give me his palace filled with silver and gold, I would be powerless to do anything against the will of the Lord.’ I told you that I could say only what the Lord says! (NLT)

When put to the test, would we answer like Balaam? Lord help us to be rooted in You and Your Word, that everything we say and do would bring You glory. Let nothing come between us, let nothing separate us from Your love. “There is nothing worth more, that could ever come close. No thing can compare, You’re our living hope!”

  10. 4 He hath said, which heard the words of God, which saw the vision of the Almighty, falling into a trance, but having his eyes open:

  11. 2 And Balaam lifted up his eyes, and he saw Israel abiding in his tents according to their tribes; and the spirit of God came upon him.

GOD will use whom HE chooses for that moment!!! It doesn’t necessarily mean that the person is of GOD (sanctified, filed with the Holy Spirit) only by discernment and by the fruits, will we know.
GOD knows BEST!!! I have heard and seen so many BAD things go on in a church because of FOR 1 FALSE DOCTRINE, disorder and disunity. BUT NOT IN POFW!!! Because of GOD, HIS FATHFULNESS and because of THE SUBMISSION, ACCOUNTABILITY AND UNITY OF GREAT LEADERSHIP IN POFW, GOD has GREATLY blessed us with ORDER AND UNITY!!! MY GOD IS GREAT AND GREATLY TO BE PRAISED!!!
    John 10:27 (NKJV)
27 My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.

  12. 13 If Balak would give me his house full of silver and gold, I cannot go beyond the commandment of the Lord, to do either good or bad of mine own mind; but what the Lord saith, that will I speak?

God’s favor and blessings are worth far more than anything this world/man can give you. Don’t sell your soul for something that is only temporal to please any man, but seek to please the Lord in all you do as His rewards are eternal.

  13. Numbers 24:1a & 3-4
1a) AND when Balaam saw that it pleased the LORD to bless Israel, …

3)And he took up his parable, and said, Balaam the son of Beor hath said, and the man whose eyes are open hath said:
    4) He hath said, which heard the words of God, which saw the vision of the Almighty, falling into a trance, but having his eyes open:

Finally Balaam’s eyes and ears have been opened.

Everyday we need to pray for lost souls, that God would open up spiritual blind eyes and hearts and open spiritual deaf ears to hear, that they might see the Almighty.

Our Pray Every Day Card says, “Lord Jesus, this day I bind the strongman of the Region of Fort Worth along with (Tarrant) and Surrounding Counties and by the Authority and Power of the Name of the Lord, JESUS Christ and I loose the goods and the souls of his house to come into the Kingdom of God by the Authority and Name of the Lord Jesus Christ and His Word.

  14. Bless Israel

Do what pleases God!! We will all find ourselves in the same situation several times in our lives. Where an employer needs us to do something against our believes, or society, or friends, and sometimes even family members. It is in that moment that just like Balaam we need to chose to bless or curse. We need to do what pleases God. There is only one way as Pastor preach Sunday morning, do what pleases God so you may stay in the Blessings of the Lord. So it is time to reflect, search your heart and make sure you are working and walking the path that God has planned for you so you may receive God’s blessings and not the curse. Search me oh Lord, direct my steps oh Lord, and keep me in your will. In Jesus Name Amen!!!!! Unicorns are real!!!!!

  15. 13 ‘Even if Balak were to give me his palace filled with silver and gold, I would be powerless to do anything against the will of the Lord.’ I told you that I could say only what the Lord says! (NLT)
the Prophet understood that more than anything he had to obey God and what God told him to do even though he wanted to probably say other things he was bound by the spirit. we must want to speak the word that God says even when it’s not popular we must also be willing to live the way God tells us to live when no one else is doing it. it’s important in all things to obey the voice of God.

  16. 6 As the valleys are they spread forth, as gardens by the river’s side, as the trees of lign aloes which the Lord hath planted, and as cedar trees beside the waters.

We should pray for Israel and bless them in Jesus name.

  17. Lord I don’t want to gain the whole world only to lose my soul!!

13 If Balak would give me his house full of silver and gold, I cannot go beyond the commandment of the Lord, to do either good or bad of mine own mind; but what the Lord saith, that will I speak?

It doesn’t matter if we have everything in the world, it still does not compare to the reward we will receive for staying in the will of the Lord. When reach heaven we will receive treasures that even our minds cannot understand, but we serve a God who doesn’t just wait till we reach heaven but also blesses us here on earth for our obedience to His word!!

  18. 9. NLT: Like a lion, Israel crouches and lies down; like a lioness, who dares to arouse her? Blessed is everyone who blesses you, O Israel, and cursed is everyone who curses you.”

  19. 23Balaam concluded his messages by saying:
“Alas, who can survive unless God has willed it?

Who can stop God’s plan? Once his words are written or spoken, God keeps his word!

  20. ‘Even if Balak gave me his palace stuffed with silver and gold, I couldn’t do anything on my own, whether good or bad, that went against God’s command’? MSG
I want a pure heart and do what God wants me to do. Sometimes we have to let go of friends/family that is going to lead us wrong and not help us to reach heaven as our goal.

  21. 9 “May those who bless you be blessed and those who curse you be cursed”

God spoke this word over Abraham in Gen 12:3 when he called Abram. God has taken his people a long way from the bondage of Egypt to the conquering of opposing nations. They are a stronger nation than they have ever been and “who dares to rouse them”(vs9). We are like the Israelites here we have been given the vitory over many battles through a mighty God who goes before us. Cursing a child of God is like that person cursing themselves in the eyes of God.

  22. 13 If Balak would give me his house full of silver and gold, I cannot go beyond the commandment of the Lord, to do either good or bad of mine own mind; but what the Lord saith, that will I speak?

What the Lord says, that is what we should speak as well. We should all have the attitude that we can’t go beyond the commandments of God. When we do, we show God that we fear him and want to do what his word tells us to.

  23. Vs 9Balaams third attempt to curse Israel again turns into a blessing . Verse 9 is an obvious reference to the original Abrahamic Covenant . God continues to bless those who bless his.people and condemn.those who curse them.

  24. “Blessed is he who blesses you, and cursed is he who curses you .”
This verse is applied for Israel but for us as Christians too. It’s necessary to look after the blessings of the Lord and not the blessing of the men, because even the kings of the earth knew the importance of a Blessing. Barac could have asked others prophets or wizards to curse Israel, but He knew who was the most high Blesser: Jehova the creator.

  25. 9) he couches, he lay down as a lion andvi as a great lion who shall stir him up ? Blessed is he that blesseth thee and cursed is he that curseth thee

It’s so easy to fire BACK at someone when they say something bad
but let’s bless those that curseth us

  26. 10 And Balak’s anger was kindled against Balaam, and he smote his hands together: and Balak said unto Balaam, I called thee to curse mine enemies, and, behold, thou hast altogether blessed them these three times.

Without “sugar-coating”, the man of God delivers the message. Ready for whatever end might come, Balaam blesses the people of Israel. what boldness that he must have had to tell the king of Amon that he could not curse the Israelites, but he was going to bless them instead. And to think that people today make excuses for not telling their co-workers or families about Jesus…

  27. 16 He hath said, which heard the words of God, and knew the knowledge of the most High, which saw the vision of the Almighty, falling into a trance, but having his eyes open:

  28. 4 He hears the words of God. He sees what the All-powerful wants him to see. He falls down, but has his eyes open.

Are we listening or ignoring to the Word of God. Don’t let the enemy destroy what you have accomplished especially with little things that seem impossible. Because we all know that God can do ANYTHING!!!! It is just up to us to truly trust in Him and abide by His words. Jesus is ALIVE and clearly listens to everything we pray for. We know that prodigals are going to come back home, harvest is going to come, we are going to grow, blessings are upon this house, miracles and wonders are going to keep happening, more children are going to receive the holy ghost, and foreign people are going to keep coming and growing. People are hungry and not till we are in their shoes we can understand them. however, we serve a BIG AND POWERFUL God that knows every heart and that can heal and break any chain. HALLELUJAH!!!

  29. 17 I shall see him, but not now: I shall behold him, but not nigh: there shall come a Star out of Jacob, and a Sceptre shall rise out of Israel, and shall smite the corners of Moab, and destroy all the children of Sheth.

A scepter shall rise out of israel. A scepter is an ornimated staff carried by rulers to indicate sovereignty. Not only was Balaam saying they would be blessed but also that the supreme ruler would come out of her. Sovereignty suggests that the King coming would be even more powerful than Balak. Thank God for the scepter and the star that came out of Jacob that puts an end to wicked kings of this world.

    • Daniel 7:13-14

13 As my vision continued that night, I saw someone like a son of man coming with the clouds of heaven. He approached the Ancient One and was led into his presence. 14 He was given authority, honor, and sovereignty over all the nations of the world, so that people of every race and nation and language would obey him. His rule is eternal—it will never end. His kingdom will never be destroyed.

  30. 13 If Balak would give me his house full of silver and gold, I cannot go beyond the commandment of the Lord, to do either good or bad of mine own mind; but what the Lord saith, that will I speak?

The attitude of greatness in the Kingdom of God. This is what makes great me. Of God. When they will put obedience to the word of God before andything this world has to offer.

  31. 12 And Balaam said unto Balak, Spake I not also to thy messengers which thou sentest unto me, saying,

Balaam wasn’t intimidated by Balak. He stood up to him and said to him that he wasn’t disobeying God’s will no matter what he asked him to do he will do the will of God.

He didn’t curse the Israelite’s instead he gave a message to Balak. Balak didn’t like what he heard because he wanted Balaaam to curse the Israelite’s. He instead told Balaam that he didn’t do what he asked him to do so he wasn’t going to pay Him.

The will of God is what we should always do no matter the cause.

  32. v13 If Balak would give me his house full of silver and gold, I cannot go beyond the commandment of the LORD, to do either good or bad of mine own mind; but what the LORD saith, that will I speak?

We would do well to prayfully apply HIS WORDS.

  33. “And Balaam rose up, and went and returned to his place: and Balak also went his way.” The word of God (Jesus) states they each went their own way. One would very wise to consider one’s way; for it may just be one’s own, and not God’s. Dear God, direct our way in the way that leads towards you. God Bless America, Israel, Jerusalem, and you all in Jesus name, Amen!

  34. “Therefore now flee thou to thy place: I thought to promote thee unto great honour; but, lo, the Lord hath kept thee back from honour.” Balaam chose right, as he chose to do the will of the Lord. Thought should be given as too how anything is achieved, for increase that is not right, is truly decrease. God help us to do what is right in your sight, in Jesus name.

  35. Israel favoured and Blessed by God
24:1 And when Balaam saw that it pleased the Lord to bless Israel, he went not, as at other times, to seek for enchantments, but he set his face toward the wilderness.

Saw that it pleased ….went not, as at other times, to seek for enchantments: He had not perceived the “angel of the Lord” standing in the way, but he now perceived his enchantments were of no avail.

  36. 13 If balak will give me this house full of silver and gold, I cannot go beyond the commandment of the Lord to do either good or bad of mine own mind; but what the Lord saith, that will I speak?
We should always follow Gods commandments. God blesses his people for their obedience to his word. The world will be bold in its sinful nature and flaunt sin. Our reward is in heaven. We shouldn’t look unto the things of the world for our reward.

  37. 13 If Balak would give me his house full of silver and gold, I cannot go beyond the commandment of the Lord, to do either good or bad of mine own mind; but what the Lord saith, that will I speak?

Can I do anything that the Lord doesn’t command me to do?

What a powerful statement. Even when we are used in the gifts of the Spirit, some expect for us to use this as if it were to our own benefit. That we can some how create the will of God or to shape it to our favor. God is never changing, He is same yesterday, today and forever. It is our job to shape our will and line it up to the Lords.
We think that we know what’s best for us, but we have no idea how great God wants to bless us if we only humbled ourselves and repented.

  38. Blessed Beyond The Curse

10 And Balak’s anger was kindled against Balaam, and he smote his hands together: and Balak said unto Balaam, I called thee to curse mine enemies, and, behold, thou hast altogether blessed them these three times.

What may have been purposed for evil against us cannot prosper when we have God’s favor and blessing. We must not jump quickly to conclusions based on the onset of a situation but allow God to give us discernment to see what He is doing in the midst of it. Something may appear at first to be a curse but we miss out on the blessing if we put all our focus and energy into getting away from it instead of allowing God to work it all out in His timing. Being blessed doesn’t mean we never face hardship, but it does mean we taste the Kingdom of Heaven here on earth with joy, peace, hope, the goodness of God, relationship with Him, and so much more.

    Genesis 50:20
But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive.

    Jeremiah 29:11
For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.

  39. Verses 12-15 MSG “Balaam said to Balak, “Didn’t I tell you up front when you sent your emissaries, ‘Even if Balak gave me his palace stuffed with silver and gold, I couldn’t do anything on my own, whether good or bad, that went against God’s command’? I’m leaving for home and my people, but I warn you of what this people will do to your people in the days to come.” Then he spoke his oracle-message:” Balaam stood his ground and reminded Balak of what he had originally said. Many unfortunately let circumstances and life change what they do, what they think and how they react to different things. Help us Lord to always stand and keep your commandments.

  40. 9 He couched, he lay down as a lion, and as a great lion: who shall stir him up? Blessed is he that blesseth thee, and cursed is he that curseth thee.

  41. Amalek was the first of the nations; not the first nation in the world, nor the chief and principal for numbers, riches, or strength, but the first that made war with Israel, as all the three Targums paraphrase it, as they did, see Exodus 17:8,

    Clarke’s Notes on the Bible

Amalek was the first of the nations – The most ancient and most powerful of all the nations or states then within the view of Balaam; but his latter end shall be that he perish for ever, or his posterity אחריתו acharitho, shall be destroyed, or shall utterly fail. This oracle began to be fulfilled by Saul, 1 Samuel 15:7, 1 Samuel 15:8, who overthrew the Amalekites, and took their king, Agag, prisoner. Afterwards they were nearly destroyed by David, 1 Samuel 27:8, and they were finally exterminated by the sons of Simeon in the days of Hezekiah, 1 Chronicles 4:41-43; since that time they have ceased to exist as a people, and now no vestige of them remains on the face of the earth; so completely is their posterity cut off, according to this prophecy. The marginal reading does not appear to give the proper sense. -Clarke’s Notes

  42. “And Balak’s anger was kindled against Balaam, and he smote his hands together: and Balak said unto Balaam, I called thee to curse mine enemies, and, behold, thou hast altogether blessed them these three times.”
    ‭‭Numbers‬ ‭24:10‬ ‭KJV‬‬

People don’t always agree with you. Sonetimes they think hat you are right and other times they trunk you are wrong. We her to be careful that we don’t base our thoughts on what others sy, but the Words of the Lod.
