Numbers 26

1 And it came to pass after the plague, that the Lord spake unto Moses and unto Eleazar the son of Aaron the priest, saying,

2 Take the sum of all the congregation of the children of Israel, from twenty years old and upward, throughout their fathers’ house, all that are able to go to war in Israel.

3 And Moses and Eleazar the priest spake with them in the plains of Moab by Jordan near Jericho, saying,

4 Take the sum of the people, from twenty years old and upward; as the Lord commanded Moses and the children of Israel, which went forth out of the land of Egypt.

64 But among these there was not a man of them whom Moses and Aaron the priest numbered, when they numbered the children of Israel in the wilderness of Sinai.

65 For the Lord had said of them, They shall surely die in the wilderness. And there was not left a man of them, save Caleb the son of Jephunneh, and Joshua the son of Nun.

  1. Chapter 26 in the AMP is captioned as “Census of a New Generation” and “The Second Registration of Israel’s Troops” in the NLT. To be counted as part of this new generation of God’s Troop…..this reminds of when Pastor asks us to number ourselves off (like at our prayer service at the new building).

A troop is a military sub-subunit, originally a small formation of cavalry, subordinate to a squadron. In many armies a troop is the equivalent element to the infantry section or platoon. Infantry: soldiers marching or fighting on foot; foot soldiers collectively. We (POFW) must continue to march and fight collectively as we enter into our new building, adding daily to the count. Let’s be counted and be a part of God’s Army that is rising up.

  2. iLove to Grow in the Word

“But Nadab and Abihu died when they burned before the LORD the wrong kind of fire, different than he had commanded.”
    ‭‭Numbers‬ ‭26:61‬ ‭NLT‬‬

We don’t want to be on the list of those who started off in the truth only to be destroyed for burning strange fire. The Word of God lists the names of those who went astray several time though out the old and new to give us an example.

“Demas has deserted me because he loves the things of this life and has gone to Thessalonica. Crescens has gone to Galatia, and Titus has gone to Dalmatia.”
    ‭‭2 Timothy‬ ‭4:10‬ ‭NLT‬‬

  3. 65 For the Lord had said of them, They shall surely die in the wilderness. And there was not left a man of them, save Caleb the son of Jephunneh, and Joshua the son of Nun.

Trusting and believing God gives life.

  4. 51. These were the numbered of the children of Israel, six hundred thousand and a thousand seven hundred and thirty.

    52. And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,

    53. Unto these the land shall be divided for an inheritance according to the number of names.

    64. But among these there was not a man of them whom Moses and Aaron the priest numbered, when they numbered the children of Israel in the wilderness of Sinai.

    65. For the Lord had said of them, They shall surely die in the wilderness. And there was not left a man of them, save Caleb the son of Jephunneh, and Joshua the son of Nun.

The people had already been numbered before, but none of those could go to the promised land so they were numbered again. This reminds me of the song we sang when I was a kid…

Oh Lord, I want to be in that number
When the saints go marching in…

Not in the number that misses out, but in the number that receives the promise!

  5. Proverbs 2:17-22 Which forsaketh the guide of her youth, and forgetteth the covenant of her God. For her house inclineth unto death, and her paths unto the dead. None that go unto her return again, neither take they hold of the paths of life. That thou mayest walk in the way of good men, and keep the paths of the righteous. For the upright shall dwell in the land, and the perfect shall remain in it. But the wicked shall be cut off from the earth, and the transgressors shall be rooted out of it.

  6. Count me in!

Nadab and Abihu died, when they offered strange fire before the Lord.

62 And those that were numbered of them were twenty and three thousand, all males from a month old and upward: for they were not numbered among the children of Israel, because there was no inheritance given them among the children of Israel.

Your desire to offer up strange fire will cause you to miss out on what God is doing. Let us be willing to lead by staying in unity with the Church. The Church is His Church and even when everyone else in the World around us is living in anger and chaos we must grab hold to the altar and war for unity.

Our actions in the middle of chaos will tell God and others “count me in” or “im out of here” As I quoted yesterday “as for me and my house we will serve theLord. ” Joshua 24:15

  7. 52 And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,

53 Unto these the land shall be divided for an inheritance according to the number of names.

54 To many thou shalt give the more inheritance, and to few thou shalt give the less inheritance: to every one shall his inheritance be given according to those that were numbered of him.

  8. It’s not time to throw in the towel, its time we squared our shoulders back and raise our banners high and reach the lost. It scares me to see people turning their backs on God after being raised or heard the truth. I want to be in the number that hears “well done my good and faithful servant”

  9. “So these are the results of the registration of the people of Israel as conducted by Moses and Eleazar the priest on the plains of Moab beside the Jordan River, across from Jericho. Not one person on this list had been among those listed in the previous registration taken by Moses and Aaron in the wilderness of Sinai. For the LORD had said of them, “They will all die in the wilderness.” Not one of them survived except Caleb son of Jephunneh and Joshua son of Nun.”
    ‭‭Numbers‬ ‭26:63-65‬ ‭NLT‬‬

God can do anything but lie. He is faithful to his Word. The Word of God is a foundation and rock that we can stand on that will never crumble.

  10. 63 These are they that were numbered by Moses and Eleazar the priest, who numbered the children of Israel in the plains of Moab by Jordan near Jericho.
64 But among these there was not a man of them whom Moses and Aaron the priest numbered, when they numbered the children of Israel in the wilderness of Sinai.
65 For the Lord had said of them, They shall surely die in the wilderness. And there was not left a man of them, save Caleb the son of Jephunneh, and Joshua the son
    of Nun.

601,728 men between 60 and 20 years old, and 2 that were over 60. I wonder how people can say that God doesn’t care about numbers…

  11. You may think you’re a big shot and your famous in the church but this is what happens when you cause division against the Lord and your pastor. The earth swallowed them up

  12. 2 “From the whole community of Israel, record the names of all the warriors by their families. List all the men twenty years old or older who are able to go to war.” (NLT)

Are we ready to step up and be a part of Gods great army? Count me in Lord, because I know in the end You will be and cause us to be victorious!

“I’m in the Lord’s army, yes sir!”

  13. YOUR ATTENDANCE IS NECESSARY

Following the act of courage by Phinehas and the plague was lifted. The children of Israel had to assess the damage that was done to their troops. They were led by GOD to reassess their condition and situation by taking attendance.

The attendance was gathered by the fathers house. The Fathers house is a place that is attractive, for the love comfort, protection and provision that is found in our Fathers house. We should make it a point to be in attendance at our fathers house at every open opportunity to establish ourselves on his “sum of the congregation”.

My prayer today is that we see the value and importance of being faithful in being counted at our Fathers house and the revelation that YOUR ATTENDANCE IS NECESSARY for you to be counted.

Get to your Fathers house. Get back IN church.

    iRepent
    iPraise
    iPray
    iWork
    iGive
    iReap

  14. 9 And the sons of Eliab; Nemuel, and Dathan, and Abiram. This is that Dathan and Abiram, which were famous in the congregation, who strove against Moses and against Aaron in the company of Korah, when they strove against the Lord:

10 And the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed them up together with Korah, when that company died, what time the fire devoured two hundred and fifty men: and they became a sign.

11 Notwithstanding the children of Korah died not.

61 And Nadab and Abihu died, when they offered strange fire before the Lord.

What legacy are we leaving? In the midst of numbering the tribes for inheritance, these men are called out and remembered yet again for causing division and disunity among the Israelites.

And then we find the Bible says this about two other men:

65 For the Lord had said of them, They shall surely die in the wilderness. And there was not left a man of them, save Caleb the son of Jephunneh, and Joshua the son of Nun.

What will the legacy of you and your family be? Will you be known for uniting with the people of God to Impact our Region or will you be known for causing strife and division? Lord help us to examine our hearts and do everything according to your ways.

  15. It is important to numbered your family

2 Take the sum of all the congregation of the children of Israel, from twenty years old and upward, throughout their fathers’ house, all that are able to go to war in Israel.

We need to ALWAYS be prepared for war. Ephesians 6:11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. Our sword the bible should ALWAYS be on hand or know it by heart. Psalm 119:11 Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee. When we numbered our family and identify them as ours God will show His promises are yeah and amen for us to claim it for them. Acts 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. 39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.
So Number your family, claim them as yours, and His promises will be yours and unto your children!!! Thank you Jesus for your promises, for our family (all of them even the ones we don’t like), and for equipping us with your armor, heavenly weapons, and your POWERFUL BLOOD! In Jesus Name Amen

  16. 65…“They’ll die, die in the wilderness—not one of them will be left except for Caleb son of Jephunneh, and Joshua son of Nun.”

    Except for Caleb!

  17. Numbers 26:9-10 & 61
    9) And the sons of Eliab; Nemuel, and Dathan, and Abiram. This is that Dathan and Abiram, which were famous in the congregation, who strove against Moses and against Aaron in the company of Korah, when they strove against the LORD;
    10) And the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed them up together with Korah, when that company died, what time the fire devoured two hundred and fifty men; and they became a sign.
    61) And Nadab and Abihu died, when they offered strange fire before the LORD.

    1 Cor. 10:5 & 11-12
    5) But with many of them God was not well pleased: for they were overthrown in the wilderness.
    11) Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples; and they were written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.
    12) Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.

Everything that happened to the children of Israel in the wilderness should become an example and reminder and warning to us.
No matter how strong you may think you’re standing in the Lord, if you rise up against the man of God and authority, murmur and complain, offer strange fire before the Lord, fornicate, etc…, you will fall.

Be counted as a good soldier and do as Galatians 6:10-13 says,
“Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.”

  18. 2 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 53 “Among these the land shall be divided as an inheritance according to the number of names. 54 To the larger tribe you shall give the larger inheritance, and to the smaller tribe the smaller inheritance; each tribe shall be given its inheritance according to its numbers. 55 But the land shall be divided by lot. They shall receive their inheritance according to the names of the tribes of their fathers (tribal ancestors)
    1 Corinthians 14:40
Let all things be done decently and in order.
The importance of recording attendance properly, and making sure we have the correct spellings. Yeah it seems so small now but it important. God is an organized
God. Yes God already knew who gets what on their inheritance because he is omniscient! God help me to do everything in excellence. I’m not perfect, but I’m striving for perfection. In Jesus name.

  19. 9 And the sons of Eliab; Nemuel, and Dathan, and Abiram.

The scriptures show that the children of Korah didn’t die with that group indicating the children didn’t follow their parents into that sin. Many of us in the church today are 1st generation Pentecostals showing that we have searched for truth and are following God vs tradition of men. Not that our parents were involved in gross sin or idol worship – but rather we have opened our hearts to learn God’s truths and now can reach out to our families and others to share what we have.

  20. 65 For the Lord had said of them, They shall surely die in the wilderness. And there was not left a man of them, save Caleb the son of Jephunneh, and Joshua the son of Nun.

The Lord knows and remembers so we should not feel discouraged of the work in which you serve in the kingdom. After all those families were numbered the thousands that were counted the Lord remembered two. Jushua and Caleb were the only men out of entire generations that got to go in the promise land. Im reminded of last nights leadership training how becuase Caleb had another attitude or spirit was able to have God remember him and spare him that he may walk into the promises. The Lord will remember in what attitude we serve. We should take into account that some one is always watching and most importantly the Lord is and is taking numbers and keeping record. He will not forget you.

  21. 52 And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,

53 Unto these the land shall be divided for an inheritance according to the number of names.

54 To many thou shalt give the more inheritance, and to few thou shalt give the less inheritance: to every one shall his inheritance be given according to those that were numbered of him.

55 Notwithstanding the land shall be divided by lot: according to the names of the tribes of their fathers they shall inherit.

56 According to the lot shall the possession thereof be divided between many and few.

The Lord’s plan isn’t always going to be the plan we are looking for. He blesses us even when we don’t deserve it. Being loyal and following his commands is what he wants. God gave the tribes land and distributed it evenly from the lowest to the highest total of people in each tribe. He was merciful what I mighty God we serve.

  22. 65 For the Lord had said of them, They shall surely die in the wilderness. And there was not left a man of them, save Caleb the son of Jephunneh, and Joshua the son of Nun.
thank God for the faithfulness of Joshua and Caleb because of their commitment to God and their belief Of what God could do God spared them the destruction of dying in the wilderness. This shows that faith can save you from imminent death. the power faith is greater than anything we can imagine!

  23. 55 Notwithstanding the land shall be divided by lot: according to the names of the tribes of their fathers they shall inherit.

My DADDY IS JESUS!!! MY PORTION IS HE!! MY INHERITANCE, MY ALL IN ALL IS HE!!!

    Psalm 16:5 King James Bible
The LORD is the portion of mine inheritance and of my cup: thou maintainest my lot.

  24. 10 But the earth opened up its mouth and swallowed them with Korah, and fire devoured 250 of their followers. This served as a warning to the entire nation of Israel.

We must be careful who we follow and look up too. As the leader goes, so does the follower, monkey see-monkey do. You to will suffer the same consequences of your leader. So know who your leader is, and what he stands for.

  25. 60 And unto Aaron was born Nadab, and Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar.

61 And Nadab and Abihu died, when they offered strange fire before the Lord.

62 And those that were numbered of them were twenty and three thousand, all males from a month old and upward: for they were not numbered among the children of Israel, because there was no inheritance given them among the children of Israel.

They offered a strange fire unto the Lord, therefore they were not counted in His army. If we want to be on the army of God we must examine ourselves and clean out anything that is strange in the eyes of the Lord. For as long as we are on the Lord’s army, we will be victorious!! For if God be for us, who can be against us?

  26. 9 And the sons of Eliab; Nemuel, and Dathan, and Abiram. This is that Dathan and Abiram, which were famous in the congregation, who strove against Moses and against Aaron in the company of Korah, when they strove against the Lord:

many desire to be famous. They idolize celebrities, and sports figures. They want the paparazzi tailing them, and cameras flashing. They want to have their name in lights.

Here we see that Dathan and Abiram were famous in the congregation. They were well known, and in the spot light. However this act of rebellion cost them their lives, and probably their souls.

Fame is not worth losing out with God. Jesus said it like this “what does it profit a man to gain the whole world but lose his soul.”

That’s one popularity contest I do not want to win.

Oh Lord, I want to be in that number
When the saints go marching in…

  28. For the Lord had said of them, They shall surely die in the wilderness. And there was not left a man of them, save Caleb the son of Jephunneh, and Joshua the son of Nun.

We are of the chosen ones. We are a blessed people.

  29. Be careful what you are trying to offer. God will not just accept anything. Too many people try to bring God just any old offering and that will not work. You must bring a clean sacrifice before God.

  30. 64 But among these there was not a man of them whom Moses and Aaron the priest numbered, when they numbered the children of Israel in the wilderness of Sinai.

65 For the Lord had said of them, They shall surely die in the wilderness. And there was not left a man of them, save Caleb the son of Jephunneh, and Joshua the son of Nun.
His word does not come back void.

  31. v61 And Nadab and Abihu died, when they offered strange fire before the LORD.

The results of sin is always the same ——— death.

  32. “These were the numbered of the children of Israel, six hundred thousand and a thousand seven hundred and thirty.” Although the number of the children of Israel was not small, one should consider how large it could have been. The Lord (Jesus) had made known to all what they would inherit, unfortunately the actions of a few caused loss for self and others. Dear God, help us too first consider the cost of our actions, before the sum is due. God Bless America, Israel, Jerusalem, and you all in Jesus name, Amen!

  33. “For the Lord had said of them, They shall surely die in the wilderness. And there was not left a man of them, save Caleb the son of Jephunneh, and Joshua the son of Nun.” The Lord said who would, and who would not see the Promised Land. The Lord will still lead Caleb’s and Joshua’s out of the wilderness today. God help us to comprehend how you see it is what matters, in Jesus name.

  34. Those who were able to serve were accounted for. Accountability allowed an inheritance to be given based on the size of the clans. Inheritance was only given to the accountable.

  35. In 40 years of desert wandering the Israelite population has decreased very little. Despite the hardships the people have faced and the massive loss of life that has resulted from their own disobedience ( numbers 16:31-35,49; 25: 6-9), the number of men able to be in military service has remained nearly constistent since the flight from Egypt, evidence of God’s continued faithfulness to his chosen people. The tribe of Simeon is the only tribe to experience significant loss. Possibly the recent plague, where 24,000 die because of the sin of Zimri, a Simeonite, is the cause (Nu 25: 6-9,14). Their may be losses along the journey especially through the wilderness God takes us to. Anything God takes us to like the wilderness He can bring us through.

  36. 64 But among these there was not a man of them whom Moses and Aaron the priest numbered, when they numbered the children of Israel in the wilderness of Sinai.

65 For the Lord had said of them, They shall surely die in the wilderness. And there was not left a man of them, save Caleb the son of Jephunneh, and Joshua the son of Nun.

  37. 9 And the sons of Eliab; Nemuel, and Dathan, and Abiram.
