Deuteronomy 1

1 These be the words which Moses spake unto all Israel on this side Jordan in the wilderness, in the plain over against the Red sea, between Paran, and Tophel, and Laban, and Hazeroth, and Dizahab.

2 (There are eleven days’ journey from Horeb by the way of mount Seir unto Kadeshbarnea.)

3 And it came to pass in the fortieth year, in the eleventh month, on the first day of the month, that Moses spake unto the children of Israel, according unto all that the Lord had given him in commandment unto them;

4 After he had slain Sihon the king of the Amorites, which dwelt in Heshbon, and Og the king of Bashan, which dwelt at Astaroth in Edrei:

5 On this side Jordan, in the land of Moab, began Moses to declare this law, saying,

6 The Lord our God spake unto us in Horeb, saying, Ye have dwelt long enough in this mount:

7 Turn you, and take your journey, and go to the mount of the Amorites, and unto all the places nigh thereunto, in the plain, in the hills, and in the vale, and in the south, and by the sea side, to the land of the Canaanites, and unto Lebanon, unto the great river, the river Euphrates.

8 Behold, I have set the land before you: go in and possess the land which the Lord sware unto your fathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to give unto them and to their seed after them.

9 And I spake unto you at that time, saying, I am not able to bear you myself alone:

10 The Lord your God hath multiplied you, and, behold, ye are this day as the stars of heaven for multitude.

11 (The Lord God of your fathers make you a thousand times so many more as ye are, and bless you, as he hath promised you!)

12 How can I myself alone bear your cumbrance, and your burden, and your strife?

13 Take you wise men, and understanding, and known among your tribes, and I will make them rulers over you.

14 And ye answered me, and said, The thing which thou hast spoken is good for us to do.

15 So I took the chief of your tribes, wise men, and known, and made them heads over you, captains over thousands, and captains over hundreds, and captains over fifties, and captains over tens, and officers among your tribes.

16 And I charged your judges at that time, saying, Hear the causes between your brethren, and judge righteously between every man and his brother, and the stranger that is with him.

17 Ye shall not respect persons in judgment; but ye shall hear the small as well as the great; ye shall not be afraid of the face of man; for the judgment is God’s: and the cause that is too hard for you, bring it unto me, and I will hear it.

18 And I commanded you at that time all the things which ye should do.

19 And when we departed from Horeb, we went through all that great and terrible wilderness, which ye saw by the way of the mountain of the Amorites, as the Lord our God commanded us; and we came to Kadeshbarnea.

20 And I said unto you, Ye are come unto the mountain of the Amorites, which the Lord our God doth give unto us.

21 Behold, the Lord thy God hath set the land before thee: go up and possess it, as the Lord God of thy fathers hath said unto thee; fear not, neither be discouraged.

22 And ye came near unto me every one of you, and said, We will send men before us, and they shall search us out the land, and bring us word again by what way we must go up, and into what cities we shall come.

23 And the saying pleased me well: and I took twelve men of you, one of a tribe:

24 And they turned and went up into the mountain, and came unto the valley of Eshcol, and searched it out.

25 And they took of the fruit of the land in their hands, and brought it down unto us, and brought us word again, and said, It is a good land which the Lord our God doth give us.

26 Notwithstanding ye would not go up, but rebelled against the commandment of the Lord your God:

27 And ye murmured in your tents, and said, Because the Lord hated us, he hath brought us forth out of the land of Egypt, to deliver us into the hand of the Amorites, to destroy us.

28 Whither shall we go up? our brethren have discouraged our heart, saying, The people is greater and taller than we; the cities are great and walled up to heaven; and moreover we have seen the sons of the Anakims there.

29 Then I said unto you, Dread not, neither be afraid of them.

30 The Lord your God which goeth before you, he shall fight for you, according to all that he did for you in Egypt before your eyes;

31 And in the wilderness, where thou hast seen how that the Lord thy God bare thee, as a man doth bear his son, in all the way that ye went, until ye came into this place.

32 Yet in this thing ye did not believe the Lord your God,

33 Who went in the way before you, to search you out a place to pitch your tents in, in fire by night, to shew you by what way ye should go, and in a cloud by day.

34 And the Lord heard the voice of your words, and was wroth, and sware, saying,

35 Surely there shall not one of these men of this evil generation see that good land, which I sware to give unto your fathers.

36 Save Caleb the son of Jephunneh; he shall see it, and to him will I give the land that he hath trodden upon, and to his children, because he hath wholly followed the Lord.

37 Also the Lord was angry with me for your sakes, saying, Thou also shalt not go in thither.

38 But Joshua the son of Nun, which standeth before thee, he shall go in thither: encourage him: for he shall cause Israel to inherit it.

39 Moreover your little ones, which ye said should be a prey, and your children, which in that day had no knowledge between good and evil, they shall go in thither, and unto them will I give it, and they shall possess it.

40 But as for you, turn you, and take your journey into the wilderness by the way of the Red sea.

41 Then ye answered and said unto me, We have sinned against the Lord, we will go up and fight, according to all that the Lord our God commanded us. And when ye had girded on every man his weapons of war, ye were ready to go up into the hill.

42 And the Lord said unto me, Say unto them. Go not up, neither fight; for I am not among you; lest ye be smitten before your enemies.

43 So I spake unto you; and ye would not hear, but rebelled against the commandment of the Lord, and went presumptuously up into the hill.

44 And the Amorites, which dwelt in that mountain, came out against you, and chased you, as bees do, and destroyed you in Seir, even unto Hormah.

45 And ye returned and wept before the Lord; but the Lord would not hearken to your voice, nor give ear unto you.

46 So ye abode in Kadesh many days, according unto the days that ye abode there.

  1. 21. Look! He has placed the land in front of you. Go and occupy it as the LORD, the God of your ancestors, has promised you. Don’t be afraid! Don’t be discouraged!’

    32. “But even after all he did, you refused to trust the LORD your God,” NLT

When God brings you to your promise, have enough faith in Him to possess it.

  2. Moses is recaping all that they have been through up to the point where they are at. We can see how the Israelites’ disobedience has cost their generation into never seeing that promised land. We as a body (POFW) should be able to identify through God’s word these same issues and/or unbelief in our world today. Let us continue to grow in God and stand in His Truth.

Thank you Marquita Crockett for the reading and scriptures that you provided for our prayer chain weekend. It was inspiring and full of power! Let’s spring forward and take this city.

  3. 42 And the Lord said unto me, Say unto them.

What could have been a great victory lead to many years of defeat, because of their unbelief. The Israelites were promised this land from God but chose to not listen to the man of God and suffered because of their rebellion.
    We should read and learn!!!!!!!!!!!

  4. 43 So I spake unto you; and ye would not hear, but rebelled against the commandment of the Lord, and went presumptuously up into the hill.

44 And the Amorites, which dwelt in that mountain, came out against you, and chased you, as bees do, and destroyed you in Seir, even unto Hormah.

45 And ye returned and wept before the Lord; but the Lord would not hearken to your voice, nor give ear unto you.

It is sad when God speaks to us, and we choose to not obey and do things our own way, go our own way. Then we wonder why God doesn’t bless us?

Israel did not listen to what God had told them, and possess the land that He had promised them. They listened to the voice of man, who was carnal instead of following the voice of the spiritual head. Too many times we don’t like what the Spiritual voice is telling us, so we get those of carnal mind to side with us and encourage us in our wrong doing. However, those that spoke into our lives with a carnal mindset are not going to stand before God at judgement with us. We will stand alone and answer alone.

Lord our desire today is hear you and respond accordingly so that we don’t wander in a wilderness made of our own decisions/choices and miss out on the promises you have for us.

  5. TIME TO MOVE ON

    3 And it came to pass in the fortieth year, in the eleventh month, on the first day of the month, that Moses spake unto the children of Israel, according unto all that the Lord had given him in commandment unto them;
4 After he had slain Sihon the king of the Amorites, which dwelt in Heshbon, and Og the king of Bashan, which dwelt at Astaroth in Edrei:
5 On this side Jordan, in the land of Moab, began Moses to declare this law, saying,
6 The Lord our God spake unto us in Horeb, saying, Ye have dwelt long enough in this mount:

GOD is wise and prudent. HE and HIS ways are perfect. It is necessary to occasionally review where GOD has brought us from and to. We are wise to remember what the LORD has done for us. There is no way we could be who we are and where we are without the favor and blessing of the LORD on our lives.

In this chapter we witness a Israeli History class. With a fresh new message that it is TIME TO MOVE ON. For the 2nd week GOD is speaking to our congregation to MOVE ON from where we were.

  6. 21. Look! He has placed the land in front of you. Go and occupy it as the LORD, the God of your ancestors, has promised you. Don’t be afraid! Don’t be discouraged!’

  7. Deuteronomy 1:46
So ye abode in Kadesh many days according unto the days that ye abode there.

    Grow with Jesus Amen

  8. alot of the time we dont hear direction from the Lord because we are not staying close to him in our prayer life and our daily life, we say God hasnt spoken to us, its not that , we can not hear if we are involved in carnal things and busy with emotional and needs that are not important in living a Godly life

  9. 45 Then you returned and wept before the LORD, but he refused to listen. 46 So you stayed there at Kadesh for a long time.

Even God runs out of patience. With sin in our lives, we continue to test God over and over. God can and will only give us so much time to turn our life over to him. We cant live a sinful life and expect God to be there when we call upon his name. We must be sincere, honest and faithful to God, so he can answer our prayers.

  10. 28 Whither shall we go up? our brethren have discouraged our heart, saying, The people is greater and taller than we; the cities are great and walled up to heaven; and moreover we have seen the sons of the Anakims there.

The leaders chosen to spy out the land are the very ones who discouraged the people from obeying God. Their lack of faith influenced and deflated the faith of countless others. We must stand as leaders with our pastor, mixing our faith with his ( as he preached today) to see our miracles and inherit the land.

  11. 29 “But I said to you, ‘Don’t be shocked or afraid of them!
30 The Lord your God is going ahead of you. He will fight for you, just as you saw him do in Egypt.
31 And you saw how the Lord your God cared for you all along the way as you traveled through the wilderness, just as a father cares for his child. Now he has brought you to this place.’

Verse 32 goes on to say our God is the one “who goes before you looking for the best places to camp, guiding you with a pillar of fire by night and a pillar of cloud by day.” How awesome is our God!! We serve a loving God who cares for us, who extends His grace and mercy unconditionally. But to receive such blessings, we have to be obedient to His commands. Because as verse 42 explains, “…the Lord told me to tell you, ‘Do not attack, for I am not with you. If you go ahead on your own, you will be crushed by your enemies.” If we aren’t submitted and we move on uncovered that only spells big trouble for us.

  12. iLove to grow in the Word

42“But the lord told me to tell you, ‘Do not attack, for I am not with you. If you go ahead on your own, you will be crushed by your enemies.’

Lord, let us always be covered by you and be obedient to those you have placed over us. I sure many of us understand the difference of when the Lord fights for us and when we go out there on our own. It is never fun to go out alone, but we must be covered by the Lord or life will get the best of us.

  13. 38 But Joshua the son of Nun, which standeth before thee, he shall go in thither: encourage him: for he shall cause Israel to inherit it.

Inherit your promises. For they are yours. Take them. Receive them. Use them.

  14. 6 “When we were at Mount Sinai, the Lord our God said to us, ‘You have stayed at this mountain long enough. 7 It is time to break camp and move on. Go to the hill country of the Amorites and to all the neighboring regions—the Jordan Valley, the hill country, the western foothills,[d] the Negev, and the coastal plain. Go to the land of the Canaanites and to Lebanon, and all the way to the great Euphrates River.

We’ve stayed here long enough and God said its time we move! It’s time to spread Gods word to spread it to more souls! Thank you God for goving us land and doing it on your time! What a mighty God we serve!

  15. 6) The Lord our GOD spake unto us in Horeb saying ye have dwelt long enough in this mount

21 ) Behold the Lord thy God hath set the land before thee go up and possess it as the lord god of thy fathers hath said unto thee fear not neither be discouraged

  16. 17 Ye shall not respect persons in judgment; but ye shall hear the small as well as the great; ye shall not be afraid of the face of man; for the judgment is God’s: and the cause that is too hard for you, bring it unto me, and I will hear it.

    We are mighty, mighty warriors
We are marching and moving across this land..
We are taking back the kingdom with a shield of faith and a sword in our hand!

We don’t need to be afraid of our adversary , the devil is under our feet! Bring your troubles to Jesus he will work it out!

  17. Deuteronomy 1:6
6 “When we were at Mount Sinai, the Lord our God said to us, ‘You have stayed at this mountain long enough.

We have been at this mountain long enough. It’s time to move on into the new land and take what God has promised us. Thousands of souls are coming, great financial blessings, impactful events that will change Fort Worth forever are on the horizon. Yet the only way to attain is to leave the mountain and move on. It’s been long enough. It’s time to act.

  18. 10 The Lord your God hath multiplied you, and, behold, ye are this day as the stars of heaven for multitude.

11 (The Lord God of your fathers make you a thousand times so many more as ye are, and bless you, as he hath promised you!)

  19. 42 And the Lord said unto me, Say unto them.

We must follow the voice of God and not do our own thing. When we disobey his voice we are pushing away his provision.

  20. 29 Then I said unto you, Dread not, neither be afraid of them.

    30 The Lord your God which goeth before you, he shall fight for you, according to all that he did for you in Egypt before your eyes;
. God had made his people a promise and nothing to take that away from them. The land was theirs to inherit and God wanted to make sure that his people were not afraid to possess it. God already gave them the victory and the ability to receive what he promised them. likewise we should not be fearful to possess the land and the blessings that God has given to us. but we should stand strong and pursue the promises of God.

  21. 42 And the Lord said unto me, Say unto them.

One should be extrmely cautious not to give in to rebellion and not obeying the commandment of the Lord. One may find himself in a desperate stage that the Lord will kot even hear your cry.

  22. “And I charged your judges at that time, saying, Hear the causes between your brethren, and judge righteously between every man and his brother, and the stranger that is with him.” The word of God (Jesus) provided instruction then, which it is still just as valid today. There is a process and procedure for everyone that should be adhered too by everyone, which there should not be a need to question. Dear God, help us not too become so prideful that we do not heed your ordinances. God Bless America, Israel, Jerusalem, and you all in Jesus name, Amen!

  23. “And ye came near unto me every one of you, and said, We will send men before us, and they shall search us out the land, and bring us word again by what way we must go up, and into what cities we shall come.” The Lord had already instructed them what to do, which sadly doubt crept in. Hesitation in doing what the Lord said, and when the Lord said cost them. God help us to seek you and also to be obedient, in Jesus name.

  24. 42 And the Lord said unto me, Say unto them. Go not up, neither fight; for I am not among you; lest ye be smitten before your enemies.
43 So I spake unto you; and ye would not hear, but rebelled against the commandment of the Lord, and went presumptuously up into the hill.

We need to understand that we must listen to His instructions the first time, rather than doing our own thing and then trying to right our wrong by our own power rather than correcting our mistake the way He tells us.

  25. The power of personal evanglism testimony

We as belivers must learn how to not yeild to our own flesh and desires but we must be willing to allow the LORD to do the work he wants to. God will not force anything upon us. We must have a willing heart. My question tonight for each of you at pofw is this. Are you truly going to allow God to use you to reach someone? What will you do differently? POFW the harvest is here but without a willing heart to go ro the work we will not see it come to reputation. Are you willing to give up your time to go knock on doors and reach the lost? I done it today after church and came into contact with a woman going through a storm whom lived in Mexico prior to her and her husband being divorced. She and her prior husband where attending a Spanish apostolic church. She left the church after the divorce. Has not been to church since then. However she is wanting to get connected to this church because of our 40 days of passion video. Pofw I will say this tonight. This is the season why we must share the gospel. You do not know what your neighbour might be going through but let me tell you all that through prayer and doing personal evaglism God will begin to connect you with right people whom want the truth It starts with a WILLING heart. Will you be one of the ones he uses to get someone to church or will you continue sitting back and saying well they do outreach every Saturday? Let me correct that real quick. Yea we do outreach every Saturday and thats great but im not talking about that tonight. When is the last time you knocked on doors and offered to teach a bible study? When is the last time you did evaglism yourself? We all have been called to be labors but many of us won’t do it because we don’t want to sacrifice time money etc Many of us are sitting back waiting for the harvest to come. The only way it’s going to come is by our obedience to the word of God and a willing heart to be a laborer. There are going to be times to when you dont have the energy to do the work but this is the main question will you allow it to stop you or will you use as fuel to say I’m marching forward. Pastor and pofw I’m marching forward. It’s time pofw to March forward to do the work to reach this city and to get every seat in the house full. Start by sharing your testimony. Remember your testimony may be a light that brings that person family loved ones etc to church Will you have a willing heart? Don’t allow your past to control you reaching the lost. Let’s go win this city!!

  26. 43 So I spake unto you; and ye would not hear, but rebelled against the commandment of the Lord, and went presumptuously up into the hill.

44 And the Amorites, which dwelt in that mountain, came out against you, and chased you, as bees do, and destroyed you in Seir, even unto Hormah.

45 And ye returned and wept before the Lord; but the Lord would not hearken to your voice, nor give ear unto you.

  27. The Israelites are back to standing on the edge of the promised land. They have been here before. Forty years earlier their ancestors scoped out Canaan and didn’t believe that they could posses it. With slumped shoulders and shattered faith, they turned away from Canaan to wander in the desert. Will it be different this time? Moses begins reminding them of the old promises of God made to Abraham that their people would multiply in number like the stars of the sky (Gen 22:17). As they look into one another’s faces they can be reminded of a promise that has survived death, disease, plagues, sibling rivalry, manipulative relatives, decaying civilizations, disobedience and idolatry and 40 years of wandering. Possesing the promise of God begins with the unshakable certainty that God will never forget what he promised and will always keep his word.

  28. 41 Then ye answered and said unto me, We have sinned against the Lord, we will go up and fight, according to all that the Lord our God commanded us.

When you repent, you not only gotta be sorry about the things that you have done but also turn away from what you did, walk in the opposite direction to keep yourself from doing it. The Jewish people failed to do this. They wept and made their apologies to God but than after God commanded them not to go, they disobeyed his voice once again, falling into the same sin they had been doing before. When we repent, we should not fall back into our old ways but walk in the new ways of God.

  29. 6 The Lord our God spake unto us in Horeb, saying, Ye have dwelt long enough in this mount:

God is calling us to move. I know that we are all thinking and praying and rejoicing over the move of the church but I’m not talking about that. God is calling is to get out of the box, to not be content and press forward.

  30. Complaining in your tent
“Notwithstanding ye would not go up, but rebelled against the commandment of the Lord your God: And ye murmured in your tents, and said, Because the Lord hated us, he hath brought us forth out of the land of Egypt, to deliver us into the hand of the Amorites, to destroy us. Whither shall we go up? our brethren have discouraged our heart, saying, The people is greater and taller than we; the cities are great and walled up to heaven; and moreover we have seen the sons of the Anakims there.

Yet in this thing ye did not believe the Lord your God,

Also the Lord was angry with me for your sakes, saying, Thou also shalt not go in thither.”
    ‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭1:26-28, 32, 37‬ ‭KJV‬‬

It didn’t matter where the person complained. The fact is that they complained. They did not trust God so, the told him that he is wrong.
