Deuteronomy 2

1 Then we turned, and took our journey into the wilderness by the way of the Red sea, as the Lord spake unto me: and we compassed mount Seir many days.

2 And the Lord spake unto me, saying,

3 Ye have compassed this mountain long enough: turn you northward.

4 And command thou the people, saying, Ye are to pass through the coast of your brethren the children of Esau, which dwell in Seir; and they shall be afraid of you: take ye good heed unto yourselves therefore:

5 Meddle not with them; for I will not give you of their land, no, not so much as a foot breadth; because I have given mount Seir unto Esau for a possession.

6 Ye shall buy meat of them for money, that ye may eat; and ye shall also buy water of them for money, that ye may drink.

7 For the Lord thy God hath blessed thee in all the works of thy hand: he knoweth thy walking through this great wilderness: these forty years the Lord thy God hath been with thee; thou hast lacked nothing.

8 And when we passed by from our brethren the children of Esau, which dwelt in Seir, through the way of the plain from Elath, and from Eziongaber, we turned and passed by the way of the wilderness of Moab.

9 And the Lord said unto me, Distress not the Moabites, neither contend with them in battle: for I will not give thee of their land for a possession; because I have given Ar unto the children of Lot for a possession.

10 The Emims dwelt therein in times past, a people great, and many, and tall, as the Anakims;

11 Which also were accounted giants, as the Anakims; but the Moabites called them Emims.

12 The Horims also dwelt in Seir beforetime; but the children of Esau succeeded them, when they had destroyed them from before them, and dwelt in their stead; as Israel did unto the land of his possession, which the Lord gave unto them.

13 Now rise up, said I, and get you over the brook Zered. And we went over the brook Zered.

14 And the space in which we came from Kadeshbarnea, until we were come over the brook Zered, was thirty and eight years; until all the generation of the men of war were wasted out from among the host, as the Lord sware unto them.

15 For indeed the hand of the Lord was against them, to destroy them from among the host, until they were consumed.

16 So it came to pass, when all the men of war were consumed and dead from among the people,

17 That the Lord spake unto me, saying,

18 Thou art to pass over through Ar, the coast of Moab, this day:

19 And when thou comest nigh over against the children of Ammon, distress them not, nor meddle with them: for I will not give thee of the land of the children of Ammon any possession; because I have given it unto the children of Lot for a possession.

20 (That also was accounted a land of giants: giants dwelt therein in old time; and the Ammonites call them Zamzummims;

21 A people great, and many, and tall, as the Anakims; but the Lord destroyed them before them; and they succeeded them, and dwelt in their stead:

22 As he did to the children of Esau, which dwelt in Seir, when he destroyed the Horims from before them; and they succeeded them, and dwelt in their stead even unto this day:

23 And the Avims which dwelt in Hazerim, even unto Azzah, the Caphtorims, which came forth out of Caphtor, destroyed them, and dwelt in their stead.)

24 Rise ye up, take your journey, and pass over the river Arnon: behold, I have given into thine hand Sihon the Amorite, king of Heshbon, and his land: begin to possess it, and contend with him in battle.

25 This day will I begin to put the dread of thee and the fear of thee upon the nations that are under the whole heaven, who shall hear report of thee, and shall tremble, and be in anguish because of thee.

26 And I sent messengers out of the wilderness of Kedemoth unto Sihon king of Heshbon with words of peace, saying,

27 Let me pass through thy land: I will go along by the high way, I will neither turn unto the right hand nor to the left.

28 Thou shalt sell me meat for money, that I may eat; and give me water for money, that I may drink: only I will pass through on my feet;

29 (As the children of Esau which dwell in Seir, and the Moabites which dwell in Ar, did unto me;) until I shall pass over Jordan into the land which the Lord our God giveth us.

30 But Sihon king of Heshbon would not let us pass by him: for the Lord thy God hardened his spirit, and made his heart obstinate, that he might deliver him into thy hand, as appeareth this day.

31 And the Lord said unto me, Behold, I have begun to give Sihon and his land before thee: begin to possess, that thou mayest inherit his land.

32 Then Sihon came out against us, he and all his people, to fight at Jahaz.

33 And the Lord our God delivered him before us; and we smote him, and his sons, and all his people.

34 And we took all his cities at that time, and utterly destroyed the men, and the women, and the little ones, of every city, we left none to remain:

35 Only the cattle we took for a prey unto ourselves, and the spoil of the cities which we took.

36 From Aroer, which is by the brink of the river of Arnon, and from the city that is by the river, even unto Gilead, there was not one city too strong for us: the Lord our God delivered all unto us:

37 Only unto the land of the children of Ammon thou camest not, nor unto any place of the river Jabbok, nor unto the cities in the mountains, nor unto whatsoever the Lord our God forbad us.

  1. iLove to Grow in the Word
Wow, I read this and also listened to this chapter this morning in the New Living Translation and my eyes were opened in the simple fact of how God distributed the land. Sometimes in the carnal mind, some might question the fact that it’s not fair that certain people conquered certain lands, but in this chapter it clearly reveals that God is in control. He sets up and takes down whom he pleases.

  2. 7 For the Lord thy God hath blessed thee in all the works of thy hand: he knoweth thy walking through this great wilderness: these forty years the Lord thy God hath been with thee; thou hast lacked nothing.

  3. 32. Then King Sihon declared war on us and mobilized his forces at Jahaz.

    33. But the LORD our God handed him over to us, and we crushed him, his sons, and all his people.

    36. The LORD our God also helped us conquer Aroer on the edge of the Arnon Gorge, and the town in the gorge, and the whole area as far as Gilead. No town had walls too strong for us.

    37. However, we avoided the land of the Ammonites all along the Jabbok River and the towns in the hill country-all the places the LORD our God had commanded us to leave alone. NLT

In order to receive God’s blessing and help in conquering what He has promised to us, we must also be obedient and avoid what He has commanded us to leave alone.

  4. Proverbs 14: 12-13 There’s a way of life that looks harmless enough; look again—it leads straight to hell. Sure, those people appear to be having a good time, but all that laughter will end in heartbreak.

Open your eyes! The path you have chosen is not what it seems!

  5. But the LORD our God handed him over to us, and we crushed him, his sons, and all his people. We conquered all his towns and completely destroyed everyone—men, women, and children. Not a single person was spared.

“The LORD our God also helped us conquer Aroer on the edge of the Arnon Gorge, and the town in the gorge, and the whole area as far as Gilead. No town had walls too strong for us. (‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭2‬:‭33-34, 36‬ NLT)

Simple obedience will keep you from wondering in the wilderness!!!

Praise The LORD! When we lay down our agenda at the altar and pick up what The Lord has for us, life will be much easier. He knows and gives unto us what’s best!!!

  6. 3 Ye have compassed this mountain long enough: turn you northward.

8 weeks POFW!!! Get ready and turn northward. It is time to awaken. It is time to gear up and get ready to move our mountain. We have been here long enough. As Pastor preached to us lasting. The comment was made to take back what the enemy has stolen from you. And that a double portion will be given. We I’ve come to declare that enemy has stolen time from us, from the church for putting up these blocks in front of the progression of the church. Step over them and be blessed. Receive what God has in store for you. Turn northward and be blessed.

  7. OUR NEXT MOVE TO GROW

3 Ye have compassed this mountain long enough: turn you northward.

A mountain is viewed and respected in several ways. Most often they are referred to as beautiful scenic products of the hand of GOD, however occasionally they are referred to hindrances or obstacles on a journey.

For the sake of proper application, lets consider the mountain referenced here in verse to be an obstacle or hinderance. There are some battles that we must be willing to turn away from from and move on.

I believe the word of the LORD has given us a favored release from some barriers in our lives and HE has granted us a clear path to our future.

It is TIME to turn NORTHWARD and prepare for our new chapter at The POFW. We must Personalize our Prayer, Offer our Outreach and Punctuate our Praise. It is TIME to MOVE.

May GOD give us revelation of the miraculous opportunities that await us in the new land NORTHWARD. Turn from sin, turn from hurt, pain, offenses, disappointment, disagreement, frustration, misunderstanding. Turn from selfish, carnal, ungodly ways, arrogant attitudes and deceitful ways.

It is TIME to move up and turn NORTHWARD. Lets GO! #RevivalNOW

  8. 7 For the Lord thy God hath blessed thee in all the works of thy hand: he knoweth thy walking through this great wilderness: these forty years the Lord thy God hath been with thee; thou hast lacked nothing.

    thou has lacked nothing!

  9. Deut. 2:7 (NLT)
“For the LORD your God has blessed you in everything you have done. He has watched your every step through this great wilderness. During these forty years, the LORD your God has been with you, and you have lacked nothing.”

God is blessing me! God is watching over me! God is with me! God is my supplier and I lack nothing!

Thank You JESUS for your Goodness!
Thank You JESUS for your Faithfulness!

  10. 3 Ye have compassed this mountain long enough: turn you northward.
this is the word of God and the message of God to the church today the church should never be going backwards it should always be moving forward. and in our lives We should strive to make forward spiritual progress everyday and to be closer to God and the promises that he has given us.

  11. 21 A people great, and many, and tall, as the Anakims; but the Lord destroyed them before them; and they succeeded them, and dwelt in their stead:

22 As he did to the children of Esau, which dwelt in Seir, when he destroyed the Horims from before them; and they succeeded them, and dwelt in their stead even unto this day:

23 And the Avims which dwelt in Hazerim, even unto Azzah, the Caphtorims, which came forth out of Caphtor, destroyed them, and dwelt in their stead.)

God gave specific instructions to His people. Don’t distress the land that the Lord had given to the descendants of Esua, Lot and Ar. The battle had already been won there before the Lord gave it to those descendants.

Once we fight a battle and gain victory over it, we should not have to go back and fight that same battle gain. It is only when we don’t get the victory that we continually have to face the same battle. This should cause us to pray for endurance, strength, wisdom and power through the Word of God and prayer to fight until the finish, cut the head off the giant we have faced and move on.

  12. 30 But Sihon king of Heshbon would not let us pass by him: for the Lord thy God hardened his spirit, and made his heart obstinate, that he might deliver him into thy hand, as appeareth this day.

What God has for Me is FOR ME!
When I read this passage I was like wow. He gave them the land., but it came with a condition, they had to fight, God hardened the Kings heart and they had to win the battle!
God gave us the Region of Fort Worth, he didn’t say that we wouldn’t have to fight, we have to knock on them doors, pray for those people, get those bible studies tought, use the tools we have to win these souls that God has for us, THIS IS OUR LAND GOD GAVE IT TO US! IT DON’T BELONG TO LONG VIEW BAPTIST, THAT APOSTLES CHURCH DOWN THE ROAD, SPIRIT OF TRUTH, THIS IS OUR LAND AND EVERY CITY WE WILL TAKE BECAUSE WHAT GOD HAS FOR US IT IS FOR US!

  13. We need to always pray and listen to gods instructions and follow thru with them and what a victorious life and church we will have because we are the church.

  14. 31 And the Lord said unto me, Behold, I have begun to give Sihon and his land before thee: begin to possess, that thou mayest inherit his land.

I believe the Lord has already gone before us, preparing the hearts of the people of Westpoint for salvation. When we arrive there, in our new church building, we will see the hand of the Lord and see many come to him. Growth.

  15. Moses reminds the Israelites of their victories over two Amorite kings. Twice he describes conquests in which there are no enemy survivors, underscoring the principle of herem. The Hebrew word ‘herem’ means a “devoted thing” and is applied to the wartime practice of complete anihalation. What is the link between devotion and destruction? God commands this destruction in order to preserve his people. He knows that if the enemies survive then they will turn the Israelites away from their devotion to God and toward false religions (Deut 20:18). The destruction is also God’s means of judging the Amorites for their sin and rebellion against him (Gen 15:16). Posessing the promises of God requires that we look within and identify what is turning out hearts from God and that we be willing to ” demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ” (2Co 10:5).

  16. 5 Meddle not with them; for I will not give you of their land, no, not so much as a foot breadth; because I have given mount Seir unto Esau for a possession.

19 And when thou comest nigh over against the children of Ammon, distress them not, nor meddle with them: for I will not give thee of the land of the children of Ammon any possession; because I have given it unto the children of Lot for a possession.

God honored his word to the forefathers of these groups. He gave them this land and would not take it from them for someone else, even the children of Israel. God honors his word to us and to our forefathers. We cannot just take the land/promises of our brethren because we want it. God gave that to them, they fought the Giants to get there. We should honor our brothers accomplishments and not undermine what God has given to them out of jealousy or any other reason. God has a promise for us that our brethren cannot have as well. We can all reach our promised land without taking from each other.

  17. 3 Ye have compassed this mountain long enough: turn you northward

It’s time to turn from the mountain and go northward POFW!!

  18. Deuteronomy 2:9-10

9 the Lord warned us, ‘Do not bother the Moabites, the descendants of Lot, or start a war with them. I have given them Ar as their property, and I will not give you any of their land.’”

10 (A race of giants called the Emites had once lived in the area of Ar. They were as strong and numerous and tall as the Anakites, another race of giants.

    Deuteronomy 2:21

21 They were also as strong and numerous and tall as the Anakites. But the Lord destroyed them so the Ammonites could occupy their land.

    Deuteronomy 2:21

21 They were also as strong and numerous and tall as the Anakites. But the Lord destroyed them so the Ammonites could occupy their land.

The children of Esau, Lot, and the Caphorites faced the same challenge as Israel. Each on of them wanted land and faced Giants. Their opposition was powerful but one by one the land was subdued and those not of the chosen people were granted their desire.

How much more did God want to give the land to Israel. I believe these were testimonies from the wicked to show what God was capable of doing.

  19. 3 Ye have compassed this mountain long enough: turn you northward.

It’s time to go north church! North to revival! North to a deeper walk with God! North toward the harvest! In Jesus name

  20. 36. The LORD our God also helped us conquer Aroer on the edge of the Arnon Gorge, and the town in the gorge, and the whole area as far as Gilead. No town had walls too strong for us.

37 NLT. However, we avoided the land of the Ammonites all along the Jabbok River and the towns in the hill country-all the places the LORD our God had commanded us to leave alone.

  21. 3 Ye have compassed this mountain long enough: turn you northward.

AMEN!!! REVIVAL!!! HARVEST!!! MIRACLES!!! SIGNS AND WONDERS!!! Everything that has been going on is just a trial to make us grow spiritually! Its time to grow up, leave everything behind, and just turn north!!! North is where Jesus has called up to grow in numbers. I believe as a church we have been going through many trials that have made us grow spiritually but its time for the harvest!!! The prodigals are coming back and this 2 million region of Tarrant county will be reached and know who Jesus Christ is. Its time to get into the deep waters like Pastor preached yesterday. Get off the shore, its time to let go of everything and just let God be in control. Besides, its not like we can do anything without Him. Jesus, I let you be in control!!! AMEN!!!

  22. Deuteronomy 2: 2 Then the Lord said to me you have made your way around this Hill Country long enough now turn north. Give the people these orders. You are about to pass through the territory of your relatives the descendants of Esau who live in Seir. They will be afraid of you but be very careful do not provoke them to war for I will not give you any of their land not even enough to put your foot on. I have given Esau the hill country of Seir as his own. You are to pay them in silver for the food you eat and the water you drink. The Lord your God has blessed you in all the work of your hands. He has watched over your journey through this vast Wilderness these forty years the Lord your God has been with you and you have not lacked anything.

  23. ♡Good work
    7) for the LORD thy GOD hath blessed thee in all the works of thy hand : he knoweth thy walking through this great wilderness : these forty years the LORD thy GOD hath been with thee thou hast lacking nothing

  24. the Lord said unto me, Distress not the Moabites, neither contend with them in battle: for I will not give thee of their land for a possession; because I have given Ar unto the children of Lot for a possession.

There are some places we just don’t need to fight until God says. We just should not labor in vain. Let God lead us for when He leads provision is there and He’s gone before us.

When we start fighting on the east and He is on the west side fight we miss out. For His provision and all that He is, is with Him.

  25. Our God has possessions he wants to give to us but we must be in the right place. You can’t do you’re own thing and expect God to bless it. If we can abide by the word that God has put in front of us, then we can obtain those riches God has for us.

  26. 24 Rise ye up, take your journey, and pass over the river Arnon: behold, I have given into thine hand Sihon the Amorite, king of Heshbon, and his land: begin to possess it, and contend with him in battle.

When a plants grows, they rise upward towards the sun that gives it nourishment. And it also grows downward and outward through it’s roots in the soil. Like a plant, we need to grow upward, towards the light of Jesus. And then we need to be rooted downward as we root ourselves in the soil of God’s word. And then we must let out roots reach outward, as we outreach to people who haven’t heard the true gospel of Jesus.

If we can do this, we can take up our journey and pass over the waters and into the promised land!

  27. 5 Meddle not with them; for I will not give you of their land, no, not so much as a foot breadth; because I have given mount Seir unto Esau for a possession.

Yea and amen… God is not going to go back on hos word much less lie. A promise is a promise and he will fullfill it. It is up to us to position ourselves in submission and onedience that we may receive it. How long will it take can depende on how willing and obedient we are. God has equiped us with everything we need for victory. We are our only hindrances sometimes.

  28. 30 But Sihon king of Heshbon would not let us pass by him: for the Lord thy God hardened his spirit, and made his heart obstinate, that he might deliver him into thy hand, as appeareth this day.

It was the will of GOD that Heshbon harden his spirit, so that GOD would be glorified!!!
My DADDY always gets the GLORY!!! FOR ONLY HE IS WORTHY!!! SANTO 3 VECES SANTO!!!

  29. 4 And command thou the people, saying, Ye are to pass through the coast of your brethren the children of Esau, which dwell in Seir; and they shall be afraid of you: take ye good heed unto yourselves therefore: 5 Meddle not with them; for I will not give you of their land, no, not so much as a foot breadth; because I have given mount Seir unto Esau for a possession.

The word of God (Jesus) essentially states they were told to be respectful and not bullies. One need not worry or question, but rather prayerful; for one that uses power or position inappropriately will answer too God (Judge), one day. Dear God, help us (me) too be wise enough to seek your will over our (my) own. God Bless America, Israel, Jerusalem, and you all in Jesus name, Amen!

  30. “But Sihon king of Heshbon would not let us pass by him: for the Lord thy God hardened his spirit, and made his heart obstinate, that he might deliver him into thy hand, as appeareth this day.” The Lord caused the hardening. Questioning the word of the Lord (any or all) should be an indication as an urgent time to pray. God soften our hearts to your will and your way, in Jesus name.

  31. 3 Ye have compassed this mountain long enough: turn you northward.
Amen! There gonna be revival in the land, there going to be revival in this land from the North to the South to the East and West! Revival in Jesus name!

  32. 3 Ye have compassed this mountain long enough: turn you northward.

I believe this has turned into a testimony blog now, so many of us have been compassing our mountains for a while now. This why this verse hits home like no other. This new building Is a turning point for many, many ministries are going to flourish because with this physical move. If you haven’t been attackef by the devil, you need to change things in your life to become a threat.

If you need to fast more, or pray more what ever it is, start moving towards that mountain. That mountain is your past, leave it behind, nothing can be done able the past, work on changing the present and plan to affect the future.

  33. 3 Ye have compassed this mountain long enough: turn you northward.

This verse has stuck with me since Pastor preached from it a few weeks back! Turn northward has kept into my head and everytime I’m tempted to say something negative I remember the words turn northward!

  34. 2 And the Lord spake unto me, saying,

  35. 3 Ye have compassed this mountain long enough: turn you northward.

We have been on this mountain for to long, now it’s our time to turn and march forward to the land God has promised us! God gave us the land and the time to go to it, now it’s our time to go and claim our promise!

  36. Verse 7 MSG “God, your God, has blessed you in everything you have done. He has guarded you in your travels through this immense wilderness. For forty years now, God, your God, has been right here with you. You haven’t lacked one thing.”

Philippians 4:19 AMP “And my God will liberally supply (fill until full) your every need according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.”

  37. 3‘You have been wandering around in this hill country long enough; turn to the north.

To how many of us could the Lord ask this question, you have been wandering around with the the enemy long enough, when will you come join the winning team? All we have to do is raise our hand and God will pick you.

  38. “Ye have compassed this mountain long enough: turn you northward.”
    ‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭2:3‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Jesus name! Sometimes we have gone brought the test and the dying out lung enough that we are able to move on. The complaining is gone. The bickering and disobedience died along the way. It is nothing but faith, trust, and joy in the Lord.
