Deuteronomy 6

1 Now these are the commandments, the statutes, and the judgments, which the Lord your God commanded to teach you, that ye might do them in the land whither ye go to possess it:

2 That thou mightest fear the Lord thy God, to keep all his statutes and his commandments, which I command thee, thou, and thy son, and thy son’s son, all the days of thy life; and that thy days may be prolonged.

3 Hear therefore, O Israel, and observe to do it; that it may be well with thee, and that ye may increase mightily, as the Lord God of thy fathers hath promised thee, in the land that floweth with milk and honey.

4 Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord:

5 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.

6 And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart:

7 And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.

8 And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes.

9 And thou shalt write them upon the posts of thy house, and on thy gates.

10 And it shall be, when the Lord thy God shall have brought thee into the land which he sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give thee great and goodly cities, which thou buildedst not,

11 And houses full of all good things, which thou filledst not, and wells digged, which thou diggedst not, vineyards and olive trees, which thou plantedst not; when thou shalt have eaten and be full;

12 Then beware lest thou forget the Lord, which brought thee forth out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage.

13 Thou shalt fear the Lord thy God, and serve him, and shalt swear by his name.

14 Ye shall not go after other gods, of the gods of the people which are round about you;

15 (For the Lord thy God is a jealous God among you) lest the anger of the Lord thy God be kindled against thee, and destroy thee from off the face of the earth.

16 Ye shall not tempt the Lord your God, as ye tempted him in Massah.

17 Ye shall diligently keep the commandments of the Lord your God, and his testimonies, and his statutes, which he hath commanded thee.

18 And thou shalt do that which is right and good in the sight of the Lord: that it may be well with thee, and that thou mayest go in and possess the good land which the Lord sware unto thy fathers.

19 To cast out all thine enemies from before thee, as the Lord hath spoken.

20 And when thy son asketh thee in time to come, saying, What mean the testimonies, and the statutes, and the judgments, which the Lord our God hath commanded you?

21 Then thou shalt say unto thy son, We were Pharaoh’s bondmen in Egypt; and the Lord brought us out of Egypt with a mighty hand:

22 And the Lord shewed signs and wonders, great and sore, upon Egypt, upon Pharaoh, and upon all his household, before our eyes:

23 And he brought us out from thence, that he might bring us in, to give us the land which he sware unto our fathers.

24 And the Lord commanded us to do all these statutes, to fear the Lord our God, for our good always, that he might preserve us alive, as it is at this day.

25 And it shall be our righteousness, if we observe to do all these commandments before the Lord our God, as he hath commanded us.

  1. 23. And he brought us out from thence, that he might bring us in, to give us the land which he sware unto our fathers.

God didn’t bring us out of sin just for that purpose alone, but “He brought us out from thence, that He might bring us in” to eternal life, in heaven, with Him, and to use our testimony to compel others to allow Him to bring them out as well.

  2. Deut. 6:10-12
    10) And it shall be, when the LORD thy God shall have brought thee into the land which he sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give thee great and goodly cities, which thou buildest not,
    11) And houses full of all good things, which thou fillest not, and wells digged, which thou diggest not, vineyards and olive trees, which thou plantest not; when thou shalt have eaten and be full;
    12) Then beware lest thou forget the LORD, which brought thee forth out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage.

I have seen many people who God has saved and blessed, turn around and walk away and forget God and what He has done for them.
I pray I never forget how God saved me and has blessed by life.

A song came to me while reading and thinking about this.
JESUS I’ll never forget what you’ve done for me
JESUS I’ll never forget how you set me free
JESUS I’ll never forget how you brought me out
JESUS I’ll never forget, no never.

How could I forget what you’ve done for me
How could I forget how you set me free
How could I forget how you brought me out
How could I forget, no never

He’s done so much for me
    I cannot tell it all
    I cannot tell it all
    I cannot tell it all
He’s done so much for me
    I cannot tell it all
He has taken my sins away

No matter how blessed you are, Don’t Ever Forget God and What He Has Done For You!

  3. 6 And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart:

7 And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up

The word of God is important and should always be remembered. We must teach his word to our children, so they don’t forget what God has said. We must also not take God’s word for granted because it is what sustaina us. Lies has caused several people to fall, but the truth will lift you up.

  4. God just lays it out there. This is what He commands. This is what He expects from us. There is not much grey area, nor a whimsical metaphor. This is solid application. This is how you live your life. This is how you guide your family. Do this and He is well pleased. End…of…sentence…

  5. 4 Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord:
5 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.
6 And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart:
7 And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.

    Teach the generations.
How did you know something was wrong? It is by how you were taught. How did you know how to love God? You were taught to some degree.
Yes we make our own decisions, but those decisions come mainly from what you are taught. Why as the church do we not think that we need to teach this generation about how to love God and fear him. I read an article on social media. And the meat of it just stopped me. It had a list of professions like: Doctor, Lawyer, Banker, President, Business Man, ect. But it said underneath this list. These people are nothing without a teacher. I was like Wow! A teacher has one of the most important jobs in the world save a Pastor. But there again a Pastor is a teacher of the Word of God. So when your out and about today. Remember to thank a teacher.

  6. 4 Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord:

5 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.
it is on these two verses that everyone spiritual life hangs. If we first understand that he is the one true God and then secondly we understand our duty tO love that God with all of our heart mind soul and strength there is no devil in hell that can prevent us from serving the lord. We must first believe that he is and then that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. once we live and these two verses and our lives there is no limits to what God can do in and through us!

  7. One LORD

Paul was a expert in the scriptures he knew that in Deuteronomy 6 that it says
“Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord:”
    ‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭6:4‬ ‭KJV‬‬

So when Jesus had came to him and stopped him on the way to Damascus with the bright light. He knew it was God so he responded.
    “Who art thou Lord?”

    Jesus replied.
    “I am Jesus…”

He knew he was God of the Old Testament. The oneness of God was never a debate for him.
    Jesus is Lord!!!

  8. 4 Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord:

5 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.

6 And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart:

  9. “”The Lord our God commanded us to obey all of his rules. He commanded us to have respect for him. If we do, we will always succeed and be kept alive. That’s what is happening today. We must make sure we obey the whole law in the sight of the Lord our God. That’s what he has commanded us to do. If we obey his law, we’ll be doing what he requires of us.””
    ‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭6:24-25‬ ‭NIRV‬‬

Thankful for Gods preservation. While we obey his commandments wholeheartedly He gives us a successful and long life.

  10. GROW IN GOD

The WORD of GOD gives us very clear instructions here on how to.

    How to:

    1. Live in PEACE
    2. GROW Mightily
    3. Receive Promises
    4. Live in BLESSINGS
    5. Teach our Family

Observe to Do IT and Teach our children there is ONE GOD and that HE is FIRST.

Teaching our children there is ONE GOD is much easier than teaching our children HOW to put GOD FIRST in our lives. Those pesky temptations to allow distractions, deceptions and idolatry. We must guard ourselves against the deception of commitment to GODs commands and allowing temporal things in this world to hinder our lives and distract us from the Kingdom of GOD.

We should pray and commit daily to allow our GOD to guide us in the area of obedience and demonstration of the commands of GOD.

    iRepent
    iPraise
    iPray
    iWork
    iGive
    iReap

  11. True relationship and love causes one to obey, and testify of His goodness!!!

“In the future your children will ask you, ‘What is the meaning of these laws, decrees, and regulations that the LORD our God has commanded us to obey?’ “Then you must tell them, ‘We were Pharaoh’s slaves in Egypt, but the LORD brought us out of Egypt with his strong hand. The LORD did miraculous signs and wonders before our eyes, dealing terrifying blows against Egypt and Pharaoh and all his people. He brought us out of Egypt so he could give us this land he had sworn to give our ancestors. And the LORD our God commanded us to obey all these decrees and to fear him so he can continue to bless us and preserve our lives, as he has done to this day. For we will be counted as righteous when we obey all the commands the LORD our God has given us.’ (‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭6‬:‭20-25‬ NLT)

  12. 18 And thou shalt do that which is right and good in the sight of the Lord: that it may be well with thee, and that thou mayest go in and possess the good land which the Lord sware unto thy fathers.

In order to possess the the promise of God we have to do that which is right and good in the sight of the lord. We cannot live however we please and expect the promises of the lord to be fulfilled in our lives.

  13. 4 Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord:

5 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.
We are to love God everyday not just on church days and at church. We are to love God with all our heart and not let anything in between us and God.

  14. 20 And when thy son asketh thee in time to come, saying, What mean the testimonies, and the statutes, and the judgments, which the Lord our God hath commanded you?

The benefits of living a faithful, committed life to the Lord can be found in this chapter. If we do this, He will do this……

We were instructed to teach it to our children. Too many parents today are depending on the Church to do all the teaching and correcting to their children. We need parents that will rise to the occasion and teach their children right from wrong. How to develop their own relationship with the Lord so as they grow older that relationship becomes sweeter to them. We must teach them faithfulness to prayer, church and giving by example. Many times parents slack in being the example and then wonder why their children are so lax in faithfulness.

  15. 11 And houses full of all good things, which thou filledst not, and wells digged, which thou diggedst not, vineyards and olive trees, which thou plantedst not; when thou shalt have eaten and be full;
12 Then beware lest thou forget the Lord, which brought thee forth out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage.

This is where I believe many people can struggle-when God blesses them with everything they need. During a trial, we cling to God and pray his help to get through it, but when the answers arrive, we loosen our fervency in prayer. As we enjoy the blessings we must remember where we came from and who blessed us! Don’t forget the Lord and lose the blessing. Keep on growing your praise. He is worthy of all our praise!

  16. 2 That thou mightest fear the Lord thy God, to keep all his statutes and his commandments, which I command thee, thou, and thy son, and thy son’s son, all the days of thy life; and that thy days may be prolonged.

18 And thou shalt do that which is right and good in the sight of the Lord: that it may be well with thee, and that thou mayest go in and possess the good land which the Lord sware unto thy fathers.

19 To cast out all thine enemies from before thee, as the Lord hath spoken.

All these great promises and blessings are conditional and contingent on us loving God with all out hear, soul and might

  17. And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.

We are to continually talk to our children AND teach ourselves (just because we don’t have children does not mean we are excused from this verse) about God.

    1. When we sit at home
    2. When we are going through town
    3. When we go to sleep
    4. When we wake up

    Proverbs 9:9
Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be yet wiser: teach a just man, and he will increase in learning. KJV

  18. Great News!!!

I don’t know about you but to know that we have ONE LORD AND HIS NAME IS JESUS, makes me want to get up and scream HALLELUJAH!!!! Jesus is KING!!!
To know that all we need to do is love the Lord with all my heart and follow His statues to have a long life on Earth. After reading verse 9 I want to write it on the post of my gate so His protection will be with us for ever and ever. Thank you Jesus for being our Lord and Saviour !!!’

  19. “Then beware lest thou forget the Lord, which brought thee forth out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage.” The word of God (Jesus) can help one remember where one came from, and also keep one from going the wrong way. One should be mindful and reverence God always, for where he brought one from. Dear God, forgive us (me) for not being thankful enough. God Bless America, Israel, Jerusalem, and you all in Jesus name, Amen!

  20. “And the Lord commanded us to do all these statutes, to fear the Lord our God, for our good always, that he might preserve us alive, as it is at this day.” Observation and obedience to the word of the Lord is for our benefit. God help us to comprehend so that we may separate ourselves from any hindrances, in Jesus name.

  21. 24 And the Lord commanded us to do all these statutes, to fear the Lord our God, for our good always, that he might preserve us alive, as it is at this day.

25 And it shall be our righteousness, if we observe to do all these commandments before the Lord our God, as he hath commanded us.

Obedience is what I’m hearing! I needed this, God wants me to be obedient all the time!

  22. YES!!!
10 GOD And it shall be, when the Lord thy God shall have brought thee into the land which he sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give thee great and goodly cities, which thou buildedst not,
    11 And houses full of all good things, which thou filledst not, and wells digged, which thou diggedst not, vineyards and olive trees, which thou plantedst not; when thou shalt have eaten and be full;

13 Thou shalt fear the Lord thy God, and serve him, and shalt swear by his name.
    14 Ye shall not go after other gods, of the gods of the people which are round about you;
15 (For the Lord thy God is a jealous God among you) lest the anger of the Lord thy God be kindled against thee, and destroy thee from off the face of the earth.
16 Ye shall not tempt the Lord your God, as ye tempted him in Massah.
17 Ye shall diligently keep the commandments of the Lord your God, and his testimonies, and his statutes, which he hath commanded thee.

25 And it shall be our righteousness, if we observe to do all these commandments before the Lord our God, as he hath commanded us.

My GOD IS FAITHFUL!!! It would be great if we were naturally faithful as well, but then……. Never mind. I’ll continue to pray that my heart will conform more and more unto HIM.

  23. Deuteronomy 6:11-13
11 The houses will be richly stocked with goods you did not produce. You will draw water from cisterns you did not dig, and you will eat from vineyards and olive trees you did not plant. When you have eaten your fill in this land, 12 be careful not to forget the Lord, who rescued you from slavery in the land of Egypt. 13 You must fear the Lord your God and serve him. When you take an oath, you must use only his name.

There is a danger in blessings but it seems that is the main thing people pray for. God wants to bless his people but not at the expense of their souls and salvation. When great blessings come we need to remember what God told Israel. Don’t forget where God brought you from.

We could all still be in spiritual Egypt but while we were yet sinners Christ died for us. If it wasn’t for his blood we wouldn’t be where we are today.

The word forget means to cease to care. Let’s be careful we aren’t careless and care more for the blessings rather than the blesser.

  24. 4 Hear o Israel the LORD our GOD is one LORD
    5) and thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart and with all thy soul and thy might

  25. 21 Then thou shalt say unto thy son, We were Pharaoh’s bondmen in Egypt; and the Lord brought us out of Egypt with a mighty hand:

22 And the Lord shewed signs and wonders, great and sore, upon Egypt, upon Pharaoh, and upon all his household, before our eyes:

24 And the Lord commanded us to do all these statutes, to fear the Lord our God, for our good always, that he might preserve us alive, as it is at this day.

25 And it shall be our righteousness, if we observe to do all these commandments before the Lord our God, as he hath commanded us.

  26. iLove to Grow in the Word
3 Hear therefore, O Israel, and observe to do it; that it may be well with thee, and that ye may increase mightily, as the Lord God of thy fathers hath promised thee, in the land that floweth with milk and honey.

Increase and Growth hinge and depend on our obedience to Hid Word. Jesus help us grasp this concept in Jesus name

  27. v13 Thou shalt fear the LORD thy God, and and serve him, and shalt swear by his name.

To serve God we must know HIS commandments as well as know HIM personally.
GOD deserves our service, love ,worship and to adore HIM.

  28. 7 And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.

8 And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes.

9 And thou shalt write them upon the posts of thy house, and on thy gates.

Keep the word always…it is very clear what value the Lord places on his word. We are to constantly be in the word of God. It is his word that will guide our lives and give instruction. His word is life. May we embrace a hunger for his Word that it may be with us wherever we go.

  29. 4 Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord:

5 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.

6 And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart:

7 And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.

Oneness of God is the first thing He wants for you to understand, learn, and teach. This is the foundation of our faith, and Jesus is his name. The blessing that should be passed down from generation to generation.

  30. 6 And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart:7 And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.

Amen! My children knows there is only 1 Lord. As a parent I make sure that my children are learning the Word of His because when they get older their going to know so many verses that their going to remember how I would teach it to them every night. I was not raised in church and don’t have any model to follow, but I know Gods Word is our foundation. When the devil may want to attack they will remember the Word of God. Be rooted in the Word and never stop praying. I can’t live without you Jesus!!!!

  31. 20“In the future your children will ask you, ‘What is the meaning of these laws, decrees, and regulations that the LORD our God has commanded us to obey?

I child will learn these laws, grow and obey them if their parents teach them. Once the child is a teenager, an adult and ready to be a parent, the child (as an adult) will know the meaning of these laws.

  32. Verse 5 MSG “Love God, your God, with your whole heart: love him with all that’s in you, love him with all you’ve got!” Same verse AMP “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and mind and with all your soul and with all your strength [your entire being].” When you love something or love someone you go out of your way to be able to do it or make them feel special. Jesus loved us so much, that He thought we were worth dying for; so, let’s love Him with all that we’ve got.

  33. Moses continues speaking to an increasingly enthusiastic crowd. They are beginning to believe that the promised land is within their reach, they can just taste it! Imagine the effect when he pauses and speaks with fierce intensity. To be careful obedience is the key to sustaining a relationship with God that is right-living and strength-giving. Moses has already reminded them of the terrible, 40 year consequence they suffered for careless disobedience. As a women, very little can frustrate us more in a relationship than passivity. God is no differen. He is looking for an outward expression of our internal commitment to him. The life of love marked by activity, and obedience prompts us to live passionate lives.

  34. 20“In the future your children will ask you, ‘What is the meaning of these laws, decrees, and regulations that the LORD our God has commanded us to obey?

Every human being will know the truth about the LORD and his commands! Even adults!

  35. 2 That thou mightest fear the Lord thy God, to keep all his statutes and his commandments, which I command thee, thou, and thy son, and thy son’s son, all the days of thy life; and that thy days may be prolonged.

3 Hear therefore, O Israel, and observe to do it; that it may be well with thee, and that ye may increase mightily, as the Lord God of thy fathers hath promised thee, in the land that floweth with milk and honey.
