Deuteronomy 7

1 When the Lord thy God shall bring thee into the land whither thou goest to possess it, and hath cast out many nations before thee, the Hittites, and the Girgashites, and the Amorites, and the Canaanites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites, seven nations greater and mightier than thou;

2 And when the Lord thy God shall deliver them before thee; thou shalt smite them, and utterly destroy them; thou shalt make no covenant with them, nor shew mercy unto them:

3 Neither shalt thou make marriages with them; thy daughter thou shalt not give unto his son, nor his daughter shalt thou take unto thy son.

4 For they will turn away thy son from following me, that they may serve other gods: so will the anger of the Lord be kindled against you, and destroy thee suddenly.

5 But thus shall ye deal with them; ye shall destroy their altars, and break down their images, and cut down their groves, and burn their graven images with fire.

6 For thou art an holy people unto the Lord thy God: the Lord thy God hath chosen thee to be a special people unto himself, above all people that are upon the face of the earth.

7 The Lord did not set his love upon you, nor choose you, because ye were more in number than any people; for ye were the fewest of all people:

8 But because the Lord loved you, and because he would keep the oath which he had sworn unto your fathers, hath the Lord brought you out with a mighty hand, and redeemed you out of the house of bondmen, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt.

9 Know therefore that the Lord thy God, he is God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations;

10 And repayeth them that hate him to their face, to destroy them: he will not be slack to him that hateth him, he will repay him to his face.

11 Thou shalt therefore keep the commandments, and the statutes, and the judgments, which I command thee this day, to do them.

12 Wherefore it shall come to pass, if ye hearken to these judgments, and keep, and do them, that the Lord thy God shall keep unto thee the covenant and the mercy which he sware unto thy fathers:

13 And he will love thee, and bless thee, and multiply thee: he will also bless the fruit of thy womb, and the fruit of thy land, thy corn, and thy wine, and thine oil, the increase of thy kine, and the flocks of thy sheep, in the land which he sware unto thy fathers to give thee.

14 Thou shalt be blessed above all people: there shall not be male or female barren among you, or among your cattle.

15 And the Lord will take away from thee all sickness, and will put none of the evil diseases of Egypt, which thou knowest, upon thee; but will lay them upon all them that hate thee.

16 And thou shalt consume all the people which the Lord thy God shall deliver thee; thine eye shall have no pity upon them: neither shalt thou serve their gods; for that will be a snare unto thee.

17 If thou shalt say in thine heart, These nations are more than I; how can I dispossess them?

18 Thou shalt not be afraid of them: but shalt well remember what the Lord thy God did unto Pharaoh, and unto all Egypt;

19 The great temptations which thine eyes saw, and the signs, and the wonders, and the mighty hand, and the stretched out arm, whereby the Lord thy God brought thee out: so shall the Lord thy God do unto all the people of whom thou art afraid.

20 Moreover the Lord thy God will send the hornet among them, until they that are left, and hide themselves from thee, be destroyed.

21 Thou shalt not be affrighted at them: for the Lord thy God is among you, a mighty God and terrible.

22 And the Lord thy God will put out those nations before thee by little and little: thou mayest not consume them at once, lest the beasts of the field increase upon thee.

23 But the Lord thy God shall deliver them unto thee, and shall destroy them with a mighty destruction, until they be destroyed.

24 And he shall deliver their kings into thine hand, and thou shalt destroy their name from under heaven: there shall no man be able to stand before thee, until thou have destroyed them.

25 The graven images of their gods shall ye burn with fire: thou shalt not desire the silver or gold that is on them, nor take it unto thee, lest thou be snared therin: for it is an abomination to the Lord thy God.

26 Neither shalt thou bring an abomination into thine house, lest thou be a cursed thing like it: but thou shalt utterly detest it, and thou shalt utterly abhor it; for it is a cursed thing.

  1. 4 For they will turn away thy son from following me, that they may serve other gods: so will the anger of the Lord be kindled against you, and destroy thee suddenly.

  2. Deut. 7:1-2
    1) WHEN the LORD thy God shall bring thee into the land whither thou goest to possess it, and hath cast out many nations before thee, the Hittites and the Girgashites, and the Amorites, and the Canaanites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites, seven nations greater and mightier than thou;
    2) And when the LORD thy God shall deliver them before thee; thou shalt smite them, and utterly destroy them; thou shalt make no covenant with them, nor shew mercy unto them.

    “seven nations greater and mightier than thou; And when the LORD thy God shall deliver them before thee…”
    These seven nations may have been greater and mightier than Israel, but they were not greater or mightier than God.
    Our GOD is GREATER and MIGHTIER than any enemy that comes against us. Remember: GOD Is Fighting For Us!

    Our GOD is GREATER – Our GOD is STRONGER!

  3. 7 The Lord did not set his love upon you, nor choose you, because ye were more in number than any people; for ye were the fewest of all people:

    It is high time we realize He did not choose us because we were great and worthy of it. But because He loves us. He thought we were worth saving because He loves us.

  4. 9 Understand, therefore, that the Lord your God is indeed God. He is the faithful God who keeps his covenant for a thousand generations and lavishes his unfailing love on those who love him and obey his commands. (NLT)

    He chose you and I because He loves us. The master of the universe, He knows us and He loves us. How amazing!! His love is unmatchable; no one can love us like He does. His love is unconditional and that means even in our dumbest times God reaches down and turns us back to Him because He loves us, and hopefully we recognize what a gracious God He is for loving us enough to steer us in the right direction when He could’ve let us go and do our own will!

  5. GROW IN GOD

    9 Know therefore that the Lord thy God, he is God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations;

    We often place more confidence in ourselves and our abilities than we should. We must remain focused on the GRACE of GOD and how he has brought us from nowhere to wherever we are today.

    GOD chose US
    GOD loves US

    The promises of GOD are yea and amen. We are challenged to LOVE HIM and KEEP HIS commandments to be positioned to receive HIS promises.

    iRepent
    iPraise
    iPray
    iWork
    iGive
    iReap

  6. 9. Know therefore that the Lord thy God, he is God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations;

    A thousand generations!!
    Many people are deceived into worshiping someone who only lived one lifetime. We are so blessed to know the one, true living God that has no beginning and no end!

  7. iLove to Grow in the Word

    25“You must burn their idols in fire, and you must not covet the silver or gold that covers them. You must not take it or it will become a trap to you, for it is detestable to the lord your God. 26Do not bring any detestable objects into your home, for then you will be destroyed, just like them. You must utterly detest such things, for they are set apart for destruction.

    Wow, what things do we allow in our homes that cause us to be unable to conquer our enemy (the devil). What idols consume our time, talent, and treasure? What do we have in our homes that would be considered detestable?

    The following is the definition of detestable from the dictionary:
    de·test·a·ble
    diˈtestəbəl/Submit
    adjective
    deserving intense dislike.
    “I found the film’s violence detestable”
    synonyms: abhorrent, hateful, loathsome, despicable, abominable, execrable, repellent, repugnant, repulsive, revolting, disgusting, distasteful, horrible, horrid, awful; heinous, reprehensible, obnoxious, odious, offensive, contemptible
    “civilized people must not tolerate such detestable inhumanity”

    Wow, no wonder some have such hard time escaping from the enemy…

  8. 7 The Lord did not set his love upon you, nor choose you, because ye were more in number than any people; for ye were the fewest of all people:

    8 But because the Lord loved you, and because he would keep the oath which he had sworn unto your fathers, hath the Lord brought you out with a mighty hand, and redeemed you out of the house of bondmen, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt.
    I thank God that he did not choose me because of what I was but he saw what I could be. When God sees his people he does not see us as what we really are instead he sees our potential he sees what he can make us if we submit ourselves unto him. I thank God that while I was yet a sinner Christ died for me and saw what I could be.

  9. “And when the Lord thy God shall deliver them before thee; thou shalt smite them, and utterly destroy them; thou shalt make no covenant with them, nor shew mercy unto them”. They were more concerned with heeding the word of God (Judge) then of anything or anyone else. One should be mindful of the fact that eternity is a long time, to be regretful for disobedience or a wrong choice. Dear God, help us (me) so that we (I) may also triumph over adversaries. God Bless America, Israel, Jerusalem, and you all in Jesus name, Amen!

  10. 9 Know therefore that the Lord thy God, he is God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations; 10 And repayeth them that hate him to their face, to destroy them: he will not be slack to him that hateth him, he will repay him to his face.

    The Lord’s promises do come to pass, as all can see. The significance of doing what is right, could just be what helps another generation to do what is right. God help us to see that what we do or do not do can directly affect others, in Jesus name.

  11. 9 Know therefore that the Lord thy God, he is God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations;

    There is no doubt that our God is a faithful God that keeps his word. As long as we keep his commandments and love him he will continue to keep his covenant, blessing and love for us.

    The promise is for us.
    For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.
    Acts 2:39 KJV

  12. 9. Know therefore that the Lord thy God, he is God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations;

    A thousand generations!!
    Many people are deceived into worshiping someone who only lived one lifetime. We are so blessed to know the one, true living God that has no beginning and no end!

  13. 1 When the Lord thy God shall bring thee into the land whither thou goest to possess it, and hath cast out many nations before thee, the Hittites, and the Girgashites, and the Amorites, and the Canaanites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites, seven nations greater and mightier than thou;

    2 And when the Lord thy God shall deliver them before thee; thou shalt smite them, and utterly destroy them; thou shalt make no covenant with them, nor shew mercy unto them:

    When God brings us out of something, we must totally disconnect, destroy it from our lives. If we allow any portion of it to remain, we open the door and give place for it to live.

    We see many examples in the Word where the people were told to destroy and they did not, and whatever it was they had to continually deal with it time and time again.

  14. 25 The graven images of their gods shall ye burn with fire: thou shalt not desire the silver or gold that is on them, nor take it unto thee, lest thou be snared therin: for it is an abomination to the Lord thy God.
    26 Neither shalt thou bring an abomination into thine house, lest thou be a cursed thing like it: but thou shalt utterly detest it, and thou shalt utterly abhor it; for it is a cursed thing.

    Giving our desires unto the LORD is a wise thing unless we become accursed and fall prey to everything we war against ; principalities,powers, rulers of the darkness of this world, spiritual wickedness in high places. It (the desires) might not manifest all of a sudden but in due time, the enemy will come in like a flood and if the desires of our hearts are not aligned with the WILL OF GOD, then the enemy rejoices, for he thinks that he hath won one more Saint to the pits of hell!!! OOOHHHH but the BLOOD!!! THE POWER OF THE BLOOD OF JESUS!!! HALELUJAH!!!

  15. 9 Know therefore that the Lord thy God, he is God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations;

    Hallelujah!!! God is not only going to keep His covenant and mercy upon you but to your children and your children’s children. When you love God all things are transformed and will be kept kept unto the generations. I rejoice because I broke my families tradition of praying to idols. My children now know who truly God is and will know not yo worship and idol. This is going to be kept because I was sensitive to the Lord and decided to leave everything and just follow Him. Be careful what decisions you make, you don’t want other generations to pay the bad decisions you made. Follow Christ so the generations after you will do the same! hallelujah!!!!

  16. Send the Hornet to sting the enemy

    20 Moreover the Lord thy God will send the hornet among them, until they that are left, and hide themselves from thee, be destroyed.

    There is a Christian Spanish song by Juan Luis Guerra called las avispas!! I used to any it all the time. The good thing is to know that our God will dig the enemies that are hiding b sending the hornets to dig them out of their hiding place and do justice. Our God is a Just and Fair God that will do the impossibles to show us HE IS GOD RULER OF ALL!!! I am so thankful for my God that judges all even those in hiding. Lord help us stay by your side at all times for with You in our side ALL TNINGS ARE POSSIBLE. In Jesus Name Amen

  17. 3 Neither shalt thou make marriages with them; thy daughter thou shalt not give unto his son, nor his daughter shalt thou take unto thy son.

    Stay in the church! Why is the unknown so alluring? Has the church, the blessed people lost its identity? We co-mingle with the world and we think it’s ok. Only to find out the hard way that it is spiritual life or death. What’s more important to you. Your physical life or spiritual life? Stay in the safety of the church. God will send those that need to be in our lives through the church. We are part of the chosen generation to see and experience greater things than the apostials.

  18. 22 And the Lord thy God will put out those nations before thee by little and little: thou mayest not consume them at once, lest the beasts of the field increase upon thee.

    Little by little God gives us what he desires us to have, he don’t put us in a position all at once, he gets us ready so we’re able to do the task, he prepares us so we don’t get overwhelmed, so we don’t get prideful, so he can see how we handle the little things, so when it’s time for the bigger, then he’ll know we can handle it and still put him first! OH WHAT A MIGHTY GOD, WHAT A MIGHTY GOD WE SERVE!

  19. 4 for they will lead your children away from me to worship other gods. Then the anger of the LORD will burn against you, and he will quickly destroy you.

    Know who your friends are, for they can easily influence you to the carnal things of this world. Not only friends, but relatives can also influence your walk with God. So guard yourself, and recognize when the enemy is trying to influence you.

  20. We have no reason to fear because we are on the Lord’s side. The enemy wants us to be fearful, but God has not given us the spirit of fear. We can stand bold no matter what may come our way. We are victorious in Jesus.

  21. 12 Wherefore it shall come to pass, if ye hearken to these judgments, and keep, and do them, that the Lord thy God shall keep unto thee the covenant and the mercy which he sware unto thy fathers:

    The world tries to tell us what we lose when we live for God. Our eyes can’t be on what we do not have. It’s time we start realizing what we gain from living for God. Gods blessings far out weigh the things of this world.

  22. Know therefore that LORD thy GOD he is God the faithful God which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations

  23. Deuteronomy 7:22-23
    22 The Lord your God will drive those nations out ahead of you little by little. You will not clear them away all at once, otherwise the wild animals would multiply too quickly for you. 23 But the Lord your God will hand them over to you. He will throw them into complete confusion until they are destroyed.

    At because of the times Bro Wayne Huntley preached a message about this verse. He said that God is more interested in our salvation than our success. He loves us and wants to see us make it to heaven. He knows that if he gives us victory all at once then it will consume us and we may not make it.

    Yet the promise will come. I believe this is why the church building process has taken 4 years. The amazing outpouring and harvest God has planned is going to be out of this world. However he knew if he handed everything to us all at once then many would not make it.

    I am thankful we serve a wise and caring God. He wants to bless us but not at the expense of us losing our eternity with him.

    Deuteronomy 7

    1 When the Lord thy God shall bring thee into the land whither thou goest to possess it, and hath cast out many nations before thee, the Hittites, and the Girgashites, and the Amorites, and the Canaanites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites, seven nations greater and mightier than thou;

    5 But thus shall ye deal with them; ye shall destroy their altars, and break down their images, and cut down their groves, and burn their graven images with fire

  25. Verses 25-26 MSG “Make sure you set fire to their carved gods. Don’t get greedy for the veneer of silver and gold on them and take it for yourselves—you’ll get trapped by it for sure. God hates it; it’s an abomination to God, your God. And don’t dare bring one of these abominations home or you’ll end up just like it, burned up as a holy destruction. No: It is forbidden! Hate it. Abominate it. Destroy it and preserve God’s holiness.” Same verses AMP “You shall burn the carved and sculpted images of their gods in the fire. You shall not covet the silver or gold that is on them, nor take it for yourselves, so that you will not be ensnared by it [in a deadly trap], for it is an abomination (repulsive) to the Lord your God. You shall not bring an abomination (idol) into your house, and like it come under the ban (doomed to destruction); you shall utterly detest and you shall utterly hate it, for it is something banned.” We must heed the warnings and embrace our promises of God.

  26. 25 The graven images of their gods shall ye burn with fire: thou shalt not desire the silver or gold that is on them, nor take it unto thee, lest thou be snared therin: for it is an abomination to the Lord thy God.

    26 Neither shalt thou bring an abomination into thine house, lest thou be a cursed thing like it: but thou shalt utterly detest it, and thou shalt utterly abhor it; for it is a cursed thing.
    Graven images, any type of idols, it could be your car, your house, whatever take the the place of God is your Idol. Its an abomination! God hates it.

  27. 6 For thou art an holy people unto the Lord thy God: the Lord thy God hath chosen thee to be a special people unto himself, above all people that are upon the face of the earth.

    If you never thought you were special, there it is! There is no one more special in God eyes than his people.

    Just as us we are proud of our children when they behave we want to just spoil them and express our pride to them. Even more, God will deliver us from the hand of the enemy, no matter how much stronger and larger in number he is, the Lord is a faithful God, he will keep his promise to his beloved. He will leave or forsake you.

    We are holy because he is Holy. We are his people because he has chosen us. That doesn’t deminish his Love for every one else but elevates ours greater.

  28. In the ancient near east culture, disease and other calamities were believed to be the work of the gods. God chooses to communicate to the people through their own presuppositions. He tells them that they will not experience many of the negative things. By doing so, he not only shows his compassion but his sovereignty. I believe God does the same to us today. He communicates with us through our own understanding and culture. May we all be eager to hear what God is saying and acknowledge his voice in our lives and to others.

  29. 6 For thou art an holy people unto the Lord thy God: the Lord thy God hath chosen thee to be a special people unto himself, above all people that are upon the face of the earth.

    No matter what we do, we cannot make God love us any more or less than He already does. His constant love is the basis of relationship with Him, for it is in love He created us, in love He chose us, and in love He redeemed us. Understanding God’s love for us helps us to have proper relationships with God, others and with ourselves and helps to equip us to operate as an extension of Jesus in this world in need of God’s love and redemption.

  30. v14 Thou shalt be blessed above all people: there shall not be male or female barren among you, or among your catttle.

    JESUS IS THE SOURCE OF ABUNDANT LIFE, which we can enjoy ONLY from abiding in HIM.

  31. Despite all the hell that you may be going through in this storm or season in life, remember its only temporary! Joy comes in the morning! He has turned our darkness into rejoicing! Our sadness into joy! Be free! Free from everything holding a pause button on your praise, worship and giving of time to the kingdom of God!

  32. Moses reminds the Israelites that underscoring every command, no matter how hard it may sound is a reality much bigger than they could possibly imagine: The Lord God has chosen them to be His. When God’s instructions seem challenging or unfair, Moses encourages them that there is One who loves them greatly. His commands are intended to protect that treasured relationship with us. Like the Israelites, God chose us, sent his Son to die for us, lives to love and sustain us, and is preparing a place for us.

  33. 6 For thou art an holy people unto the Lord thy God: the Lord thy God hath chosen thee to be a special people unto himself, above all people that are upon the face of the earth.

    We are the apple of his eye, loved and blessed by our God. We must continue in his ways to keep his blessings upon us and our children.

  34. 25 The graven images of their gods shall ye burn with fire: thou shalt not desire the silver or gold that is on them, nor take it unto thee, lest thou be snared therin: for it is an abomination to the Lord thy God.

    26 Neither shalt thou bring an abomination into thine house, lest thou be a cursed thing like it: but thou shalt utterly detest it, and thou shalt utterly abhor it; for it is a cursed thing.

    Be careful what thing you bring into your home, if you bring anything into your house that’s not of God, then God isn’t going to bless it.

  35. 6 For thou art an holy people unto the Lord thy God: the Lord thy God hath chosen thee to be a special people unto himself, above all people that are upon the face of the earth.

    9 Know therefore that the Lord thy God, he is God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations;

    10 And repayeth them that hate him to their face, to destroy them: he will not be slack to him that hateth him, he will repay him to his face.
