Deuteronomy 8

1 All the commandments which I command thee this day shall ye observe to do, that ye may live, and multiply, and go in and possess the land which the Lord sware unto your fathers.

2 And thou shalt remember all the way which the Lord thy God led thee these forty years in the wilderness, to humble thee, and to prove thee, to know what was in thine heart, whether thou wouldest keep his commandments, or no.

3 And he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna, which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know; that he might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the Lord doth man live.

4 Thy raiment waxed not old upon thee, neither did thy foot swell, these forty years.

5 Thou shalt also consider in thine heart, that, as a man chasteneth his son, so the Lord thy God chasteneth thee.

6 Therefore thou shalt keep the commandments of the Lord thy God, to walk in his ways, and to fear him.

7 For the Lord thy God bringeth thee into a good land, a land of brooks of water, of fountains and depths that spring out of valleys and hills;

8 A land of wheat, and barley, and vines, and fig trees, and pomegranates; a land of oil olive, and honey;

9 A land wherein thou shalt eat bread without scarceness, thou shalt not lack any thing in it; a land whose stones are iron, and out of whose hills thou mayest dig brass.

10 When thou hast eaten and art full, then thou shalt bless the Lord thy God for the good land which he hath given thee.

11 Beware that thou forget not the Lord thy God, in not keeping his commandments, and his judgments, and his statutes, which I command thee this day:

12 Lest when thou hast eaten and art full, and hast built goodly houses, and dwelt therein;

13 And when thy herds and thy flocks multiply, and thy silver and thy gold is multiplied, and all that thou hast is multiplied;

14 Then thine heart be lifted up, and thou forget the Lord thy God, which brought thee forth out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage;

15 Who led thee through that great and terrible wilderness, wherein were fiery serpents, and scorpions, and drought, where there was no water; who brought thee forth water out of the rock of flint;

16 Who fed thee in the wilderness with manna, which thy fathers knew not, that he might humble thee, and that he might prove thee, to do thee good at thy latter end;

17 And thou say in thine heart, My power and the might of mine hand hath gotten me this wealth.

18 But thou shalt remember the Lord thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day.

19 And it shall be, if thou do at all forget the Lord thy God, and walk after other gods, and serve them, and worship them, I testify against you this day that ye shall surely perish.

20 As the nations which the Lord destroyeth before your face, so shall ye perish; because ye would not be obedient unto the voice of the Lord your God.

  1. Verses 5-6 AMP “Therefore, know in your heart (be fully cognizant) that the Lord your God disciplines and instructs you just as a man disciplines and instructs his son. Therefore, you shall keep the commandments of the Lord your God, to walk [that is, to live each and every day] in His ways and fear [and worship] Him [with awe-filled reverence and profound respect].” Verse 11 AMP “Beware that you do not forget the Lord your God by failing to keep His commandments and His judgments (precepts) and His statutes which I am commanding you today;”. Verse 18 AMP “But you shall remember [with profound respect] the Lord your God, for it is He who is giving you power to make wealth, that He may confirm His covenant which He swore (solemnly promised) to your fathers, as it is this day.” Once again, heed the warnings now (accept the correction and understand that it is out of love) and be obedient (listen to and obey the voice of the Lord your God); for the alternative will cost you an eternal price. JESUS today YOU will SAVE me.

  2. 2 And thou shalt remember all the way which the Lord thy God led thee these forty years in the wilderness, to humble thee, and to prove thee, to know what was in thine heart, whether thou wouldest keep his commandments, or no.

    There is purpose in the wilderness!

    The children of Isreal after leaving Egypt became discouraged and complained. This lead them on a 40 year hike in a circle; to humble them, prove them, and try their hearts.

    When we find ourselves in a dry wilderness season it is important that we hold on to the fact that the season has purpose. Keep a good attitude and allow God to work out the details. It is our job to worship and praise Him regardless of the circumstance.

    Thank You Jesus for provision!

  3. When the going gets good, the blessed get forgetful.

    We cannot allow ourselves to forget that it was God who brought us out of our spiritual Egypt and led us through our own wilderness and has blessed us greatly. He alone deserves the glory; on our own, we’d die penniless in the desert.

  4. Deut. 8:2 (MSG)
    “Remember every road that God led you on for those forty years in the wilderness, pushing you to your limits, testing you so that he would know what you were made of, whether you would keep his commandments or not.”

    This scripture made me think of that loud beep that comes over the air waves and says, ” This is a test. This is only a test.”
    On this road called life, we are all, at some point, going to be pushed to our limits and tested to see what we’re made of. The question is, Will we trust in God and stay standing, or turn away from Him and quit and give up?

    Rom. 8:18 says, “For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.”
    2 Cor. 4:17 says, “For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding eternal weight of glory.”

    So remember: “This is a test. It is only a test.” Keep your Faith in God and Trust in Him.

  5. 17 And thou say in thine heart, My power and the might of mine hand hath gotten me this wealth.

    Alot of times I forget how God brought me out of bondage, and the pain and suffering I was living, how can I forget? When I put things before God that’s forgetting, When I don’t pray and give God his praise that’s forgetting, it’s time to stop being caught up in the circumstances of life, it’s time to remember the Lord My God and know that he is King and Ruler over my life!

  6. Give God ALL GLORY and ALL HONOR

    11 Beware that thou forget not the Lord thy God, in not keeping his commandments, and his judgments, and his statutes, which I command thee this day:
    12 Lest when thou hast eaten and art full, and hast built goodly houses, and dwelt therein;
    13 And when thy herds and thy flocks multiply, and thy silver and thy gold is multiplied, and all that thou hast is multiplied;
    14 Then thine heart be lifted up, and thou forget the Lord thy God, which brought thee forth out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage;
    15 Who led thee through that great and terrible wilderness, wherein were fiery serpents, and scorpions, and drought, where there was no water; who brought thee forth water out of the rock of flint;
    16 Who fed thee in the wilderness with manna, which thy fathers knew not, that he might humble thee, and that he might prove thee, to do thee good at thy latter end;
    17 And thou say in thine heart, My power and the might of mine hand hath gotten me this wealth.

    In ALL give All Glory and Honor to God. For everything belongs to Him and without Him we are NOTHING but a pile of clay. Col 3:23 And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;
    Do not let the commodities of this world make you believe the lie that you have it out of your hard work. For all our hard work belongs to Him. Lord help us be less of us and more of you. Keep us humble and do not allow us to get a stiff neck for we do not want to return to the wilderness after tasting the Honey and milk of the Promise Land. In Jesus Name Amen

  7. GO GROW

    1 All the commandments which I command thee this day shall ye observe to do, that ye may live, and multiply, and go in and possess the land which the Lord sware unto your fathers.

    We are given a CHARGE to GO possess the Land and GROW our influence in the Region of Fort Worth for the name of JESUS.

    We must maintain submission, obedience and faithfulness to the LORD.

    iRepent
    iPraise
    iPray
    iWork
    iGive
    iReap

  8. iLove to Grow in the Word

    13 And when thy herds and thy flocks multiply, and thy silver and thy gold is multiplied, and all that thou hast is multiplied; 14 Then thine heart be lifted up, and thou forget the Lord thy God, which brought thee forth out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage;

    We must be careful when the Lord blesses us not to be lifted up with pride. I’ve seen many who receive the Holy Ghost and then start getting blessed fall to the wayside. We must remember where we came from and also remember where we are going. Everything that we have received in this world or the world to come has been given by the Lord.

  9. When I think of where God brought me from I can praise him forever and ever and it wouldnt be enough, I strive to be humble, faithful ,thankful, obedient, giving and be like Jesus.

  10. v 3 ” but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the LORD doth man live.”

    Receive HIS WORDS TODAY by faith into our spirits HIS WORD, will provide health of our souls, the part of us that will never die.

  11. 17 Thou shalt say in thine heart, My power and the might of mine hand hath gotten me this wealth.

  12. 1 All the commandments which I command thee this day shall ye observe to do, that ye may live, and multiply, and go in and possess the land which the Lord sware unto your fathers.

    2 And thou shalt remember all the way which the Lord thy God led thee these forty years in the wilderness, to humble thee, and to prove thee, to know what was in thine heart, whether thou wouldest keep his commandments, or no.
    God has a spiritual possession for all of his people. God wants us to possess the blessings opportunities then he desires but we must remember to stay faithful to him and to the word of God if we are going to receive our blessings.

  13. Deuteronomy 8:5-6
    5 Think about it: Just as a parent disciplines a child, the Lord your God disciplines you for your own good.
    6 “So obey the commands of the Lord your God by walking in his ways and fearing him.

    We discipline our children for their future. We see the potential, and the love we have for them. When they make bad decisions we correct their behavior. The Lord does the same thing. He cares about not just who we are now but who we will become.

    This means occasionally he will help us to see the things that we are doing or not doing that are contrary to his word and if necessary chastise us.

    Whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth

  14. 11 Beware that thou forget not the Lord thy God, in not keeping his commandments, and his judgments, and his statutes, which I command thee this day:

    How do you keep from forgetting? You make a conscious effort. Think about it. Put effort into it. Make yourself do it. If you make a conscious effort then you keep the thought captivated in the forefront of your mind. Do not forget God by putting his commandments, judgements, and statutes on the back burner. Make it a part of life.

  15. 3 And he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna, which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know; that he might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the Lord doth man live.

    As we read here, and sestudy the life of Jesus, we see once again that Jesus quoted this scripture when the enemy was trying to tempt him.

  16. “Think about it: Just as a parent disciplines a child, the LORD your God disciplines you for your own good.”
    ‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭8:5‬ ‭NLT‬‬

  17. 2 Remember how the Lord your God led you all the way in the wilderness these forty years, to humble and test you in order to know what was in your heart, whether or not you would keep his commands.

    God may not be testing us in the wilderness for 40 years but he will/is testing us. We may not have the understanding of what the plan he has for us but there is a purpose behind it! Not every test is easy but God gave us the Holy Ghost to help us along the way! Will you obey his word or will you astray? God gave us a choice and there is a reason for every choice we make, is it obey God or not?! And the great thing is after you pass one test and go through another you can look back on the first think how God helped you through it and had a great purpose in the end!

  18. 1 All the commandments which I command thee this day shall ye observe to do, that ye may live, and multiply, and go in and possess the land which the Lord sware unto your fathers.

    Obey and the Lord will allow us to prosper both in life and in this city as we go out and reach the lost!

  19. 7 For the Lord thy God bringeth thee into a good land, a land of brooks of water, of fountains and depths that spring out of valleys and hills;

    God is taking us to a good land. The question is are we ready to receive what God has for us. Our thoughts have to be focused so that we can receive what God has for us.

  20. Obey the LORD in all you do including financially with giving and tithing and also in time to the kingdom of God. You may not have everything you want but your lacking nothing! Keep coming to church! Keep worshiping, keep praying, fasting and seeking God! He is going to bless you according to your faith!

  21. 18) NLT Remember the lord you God he is the one who gives you power to be successful in order to fulfill the covenant he confirmed to your ancestors with an oath

    when I read this it seems like it say that we should not take the credit for what god is doing Because he the one one that give us the power to to things

    17) he did all this so you would never say to yourself I have achieved this wealth with my own strength and energy

  22. 1 All the commandments which I command thee this day shall ye observe to do, that ye may live, and multiply, and go in and possess the land which the Lord sware unto your fathers.

    We HAVE TO BE OBEDIENT TO GOD’S WORD.

  23. Moses continues to grab the attention of the Israelites by reminding them of where they are going (Deut 6:3, 10-11; 7:13-15; 8:7-9; 11:8-12). This land is abundant, fruitful, and flurishing. If they follow God faithfully while living there, they will be happy and fulfilled. They will lack nothing. He gives us hope for the future with promises that encourages us to keep pushing foward in the meantime. He is the God of our past, present and future. Focusing on God and his commands in obedience will keep us on course for the supernatural.

  24. 19 And it shall be, if thou do at all forget the Lord thy God, and walk after other gods, and serve them, and worship them, I testify against you this day that ye shall surely perish. 20 As the nations which the Lord destroyeth before your face, so shall ye perish; because ye would not be obedient unto the voice of the Lord your God.

    The word of God (Jesus) can and has been proven; more than once. One would be wise to heed what happened when they forgot God (Creator), just as one would be wise to heed what happened to others. Dear God, forgive us as a people and as a nation and bless us with God fearing leaders. God Bless America, Israel, Jerusalem, and you all in Jesus name, Amen!

  25. “When thou hast eaten and art full, then thou shalt bless the Lord thy God for the good land which he hath given thee.” They were instructed too also bless the Lord afterwards. What could happen if we would not only thank the Lord before and after a meal for or flesh, but also for a meal for our soul? God help us that we may see as you see, in Jesus name.

  26. 7 And thou say in thine heart, My power and the might of mine hand hath gotten me this wealth.

    God has brought us out if Egpyt why would we return to the place that God delivered you out of? You have seen the maricles that God has done, he delivered you from the hands of the enemy but you still turn your face and want to serve the devil. How can we forget all what all God has done in our lives? The judgment that has happened to those whose disobey God and live an unruly life we will be judged like them if we choose to live this way and not follow Gods commandment.

  27. “Remember how the Lord your God led you all the way. He guided you in the desert for these 40 years. He wanted to take your pride away. He wanted to put you to the test and know what was in your hearts. He wanted to see whether you would obey his commands.”
    ‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭8:2‬ ‭NIRV‬‬

    Search me Oh Lord!

    “God, see what is in my heart. Know what is there. Put me to the test. Know what I’m thinking. See if there’s anything in my life you don’t like. Help me live in the way that is always right.”
    ‭‭Psalm‬ ‭139:23-24‬ ‭NIRV‬‬

  28. We must not live only off this natural food. The word of God is what gives us the true life brings us wisdom and understanding I need to eat this word swallow it make a part of who I am

  29. 3 And he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna, which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know; that he might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the Lord doth man live.
    4 Thy raiment waxed not old upon thee, neither did thy foot swell, these forty years.

    My GOD IS FAITHFUL!!!
    HE had manna delivered to them ,how? there were no phones? It wasn’t like HE called Jack, pizza hut or some other fast food restaurant and really, what restaurant would be able to feed as many people that were there ? Back in the day when there weren’t chemicals to keep the shoes waterproof or clothes that have repellant , BUT HE KEPT THEM FOR FORTY YEARS IN THE DESSERT (and sometimes we think we Have it Bad)!!! NO MORE WORRYING HERE! !! THANK YOU JESUS!!! HALELUJAH!!!

  30. God gives us the strength to succeed. We would be wise to remember that God is the source of our talents. He made us. We are good at what we do because of him. We do nothing on our own.

  31. Everyday we should remember to follow the commandments that God has placed before us. It is with Him all things are possible. Let’s be respectful to He who makes a way we’re there is no way

  32. 7 For the Lord thy God bringeth thee into a good land, a land of brooks of water, of fountains and depths that spring out of valleys and hills;

    8 A land of wheat, and barley, and vines, and fig trees, and pomegranates; a land of oil olive, and honey;

  33. 2 And thou shalt remember all the way which the Lord thy God led thee these forty years in the wilderness, to humble thee, and to prove thee, to know what was in thine heart, whether thou wouldest keep his commandments, or no.

    Our hearts lead us either to sin or righteousness. Sin is the result of a heart that is not right, the fruit of a bad root; take care of the heart and sinfulness will be able to resolve. God will take us through seasons in which He reveals what is in our hearts. These are opportunities for us to either confirm our efforts to walk rightly before Him or to see areas of improvement we have not been willing to address yet. We cannot walk in His promises with our hearts not right; the children of Israel suffered persecution, famine, enslavement, torture, even eviction after entering the Promised Land, all because of heart issues they wouldn’t address with God. Now is the time to walk rightly with God, there is no time to waste.

  34. 11 Beware that thou forget not the Lord thy God, in not keeping his commandments, and his judgments, and his statutes, which I command thee this day:

    12 Lest when thou hast eaten and art full, and hast built goodly houses, and dwelt therein;

    13 And when thy herds and thy flocks multiply, and thy silver and thy gold is multiplied, and all that thou hast is multiplied;

    14 Then thine heart be lifted up, and thou forget the Lord thy God, which brought thee forth out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage;

  35. 11 Beware that thou forget not the Lord thy God, in not keeping his commandments, and his judgments, and his statutes, which I command thee this day:

    12 Lest when thou hast eaten and art full, and hast built goodly houses, and dwelt therein;

    13 And when thy herds and thy flocks multiply, and thy silver and thy gold is multiplied, and all that thou hast is multiplied;

    14 Then thine heart be lifted up, and thou forget the Lord thy God, which brought thee forth out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage;

    Some people often question why am I not being blessed as they see others get blessed. That could be the exact reason because they are looking elsewhere comparing. They should regoice with those that rejoice and know that if its not their time it might be that the Lord does not want you to get lost in all the blessings by forgetting about him. We are cautioned several time to not forget about the Lord when you are blessed and not say to yourself lool what Ive accomplished for even the Lord gives you the strength to so your work.

  36. 10When you have eaten your fill, be sure to praise the LORD your God for the good land he has given you.

    Once we receive a blessing we must not forget to give thanks to the Lord, unfortunately so many forget to give thanks.

  37. “Thy raiment waxed not old upon thee, neither did thy foot swell, these forty years.”
    ‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭8:4‬ ‭KJV‬‬

    God is so generous. He has provisions hat is not what we expect. He does not always do things the way we think. He choose to clothe the children in the wilderness with the same clothes for so long. Like when the three Hebrew boys the fire, the Lord doesn’t always do what people think k he should.

  38. 10 When thou hast eaten and art full, then thou shalt bless the Lord thy God for the good land which he hath given thee.
    11 Beware that thou forget not the Lord thy God, in not keeping his commandments, and his judgments, and his statutes, which I command thee this day:

    Today we pray and thank the Lord for our food and ask him to bless it, but for these people who knew hunger, they also thanked the Lord for being full after they had eaten. Which goes with the next verse: do not forget the the Lord when you are full, rich and very blessed because he can and will take it back from you-it is his and it comes with keeping his commandments. Don’t forget where he brought you from to where you are today.

  39. 1 All the commandments which I command thee this day shall ye observe to do, that ye may live, and multiply, and go in and possess the land which the Lord sware unto your fathers.

    If we follow the Lord’s word for our lives and continue to be involved in the ministry, POFW will grow too as we move into the new building and we will grow!
