Deuteronomy 12

1 These are the statutes and judgments, which ye shall observe to do in the land, which the Lord God of thy fathers giveth thee to possess it, all the days that ye live upon the earth.

2 Ye shall utterly destroy all the places, wherein the nations which ye shall possess served their gods, upon the high mountains, and upon the hills, and under every green tree:

3 And ye shall overthrow their altars, and break their pillars, and burn their groves with fire; and ye shall hew down the graven images of their gods, and destroy the names of them out of that place.

4 Ye shall not do so unto the Lord your God.

5 But unto the place which the Lord your God shall choose out of all your tribes to put his name there, even unto his habitation shall ye seek, and thither thou shalt come:

6 And thither ye shall bring your burnt offerings, and your sacrifices, and your tithes, and heave offerings of your hand, and your vows, and your freewill offerings, and the firstlings of your herds and of your flocks:

7 And there ye shall eat before the Lord your God, and ye shall rejoice in all that ye put your hand unto, ye and your households, wherein the Lord thy God hath blessed thee.

8 Ye shall not do after all the things that we do here this day, every man whatsoever is right in his own eyes.

9 For ye are not as yet come to the rest and to the inheritance, which the Lord your God giveth you.

10 But when ye go over Jordan, and dwell in the land which the Lord your God giveth you to inherit, and when he giveth you rest from all your enemies round about, so that ye dwell in safety;

11 Then there shall be a place which the Lord your God shall choose to cause his name to dwell there; thither shall ye bring all that I command you; your burnt offerings, and your sacrifices, your tithes, and the heave offering of your hand, and all your choice vows which ye vow unto the Lord:

12 And ye shall rejoice before the Lord your God, ye, and your sons, and your daughters, and your menservants, and your maidservants, and the Levite that is within your gates; forasmuch as he hath no part nor inheritance with you.

13 Take heed to thyself that thou offer not thy burnt offerings in every place that thou seest:

14 But in the place which the Lord shall choose in one of thy tribes, there thou shalt offer thy burnt offerings, and there thou shalt do all that I command thee.

15 Notwithstanding thou mayest kill and eat flesh in all thy gates, whatsoever thy soul lusteth after, according to the blessing of the Lord thy God which he hath given thee: the unclean and the clean may eat thereof, as of the roebuck, and as of the hart.

16 Only ye shall not eat the blood; ye shall pour it upon the earth as water.

17 Thou mayest not eat within thy gates the tithe of thy corn, or of thy wine, or of thy oil, or the firstlings of thy herds or of thy flock, nor any of thy vows which thou vowest, nor thy freewill offerings, or heave offering of thine hand:

18 But thou must eat them before the Lord thy God in the place which the Lord thy God shall choose, thou, and thy son, and thy daughter, and thy manservant, and thy maidservant, and the Levite that is within thy gates: and thou shalt rejoice before the Lord thy God in all that thou puttest thine hands unto.

19 Take heed to thyself that thou forsake not the Levite as long as thou livest upon the earth.

20 When the Lord thy God shall enlarge thy border, as he hath promised thee, and thou shalt say, I will eat flesh, because thy soul longeth to eat flesh; thou mayest eat flesh, whatsoever thy soul lusteth after.

21 If the place which the Lord thy God hath chosen to put his name there be too far from thee, then thou shalt kill of thy herd and of thy flock, which the Lord hath given thee, as I have commanded thee, and thou shalt eat in thy gates whatsoever thy soul lusteth after.

22 Even as the roebuck and the hart is eaten, so thou shalt eat them: the unclean and the clean shall eat of them alike.

23 Only be sure that thou eat not the blood: for the blood is the life; and thou mayest not eat the life with the flesh.

24 Thou shalt not eat it; thou shalt pour it upon the earth as water.

25 Thou shalt not eat it; that it may go well with thee, and with thy children after thee, when thou shalt do that which is right in the sight of the Lord.

26 Only thy holy things which thou hast, and thy vows, thou shalt take, and go unto the place which the Lord shall choose:

27 And thou shalt offer thy burnt offerings, the flesh and the blood, upon the altar of the Lord thy God: and the blood of thy sacrifices shall be poured out upon the altar of the Lord thy God, and thou shalt eat the flesh.

28 Observe and hear all these words which I command thee, that it may go well with thee, and with thy children after thee for ever, when thou doest that which is good and right in the sight of the Lord thy God.

29 When the Lord thy God shall cut off the nations from before thee, whither thou goest to possess them, and thou succeedest them, and dwellest in their land;

30 Take heed to thyself that thou be not snared by following them, after that they be destroyed from before thee; and that thou enquire not after their gods, saying, How did these nations serve their gods? even so will I do likewise.

31 Thou shalt not do so unto the Lord thy God: for every abomination to the Lord, which he hateth, have they done unto their gods; for even their sons and their daughters they have burnt in the fire to their gods.

32 What thing soever I command you, observe to do it: thou shalt not add thereto, nor diminish from it.

  1. We often want to do what everyone else is doing. This is common. God commanded the people to not lust after worshiping other gods. He hates it. It is the same today. We must avoid putting things before God. We may not bow before idols today but we certainly can do other things that steal our time and families.

    Everything that has been commanded to us by God is for a purpose. As humans we are not capable of truly understanding the ways of God. We should honor His commandments the way they are instructed. It’s plain and simple.

    Someone say “Do Not”. The word says do not worship the way the pagans worship.

    I’m glad The Pentecostals of Fort Worth do not celebrate like the pagans celebrate.

    Easter eggs and the Easter Bunny both featured largely in the spring festivals of the goddess Ostara. The rabbit (famous for its skill at rapid reproduction) was her sacred animal and brightly colored eggs, chicks, and bunnies were all used at festival time to honor this goddess of fertility and abundance. There is a national magazine with the bunny as their trademark and this magazine honors this god.

    We’re instructed to not even try to find out about other gods – they’re irrelevant! Our time will be better spent learning about the one, true, living God, worshiping Him, and bringing others to Him.

    How can people not see that we are to bring our tithes to the storehouse and that also includes our IFT pledges and our offerings.

Do not inquire about their gods, saying, ‘How do these nations worship their gods? I want to follow their example.’ You must not worship the LORD your God the way the other nations worship their gods, for they perform for their gods every detestable act that the LORD hates.   7. 31 Thou shalt not do so unto the Lord thy God: for every abomination to the Lord, which he hateth, have they done unto their gods; for even their sons and their daughters they have burnt in the fire to their gods.

    An ABOMINATION (DETESTABLE) Is how GOD SEES THE worship of other gods. Why do we compromise, in order not to offend others ? CONTEND FOR THE FAITH!!!

  8. 25 Thou shalt not eat it; that it may go well with thee, and with thy children after thee, when thou shalt do that which is right in the sight of the Lord.

    Watch out!!! Cause you are our example (to the children) we watch everything you do and we learn from you! We don’t want to be cursed here on earth and we really don’t want to go to hell because of something bad that you taught us to do.

    As the Israelites were getting these commandments it seems as they were doing what they thought was right in their own eyes. But they were also been warned that what was to come was going to be led and controlled by the Lord. There’s going to be a special place to worship the Lord and in that special place we’re going to find peace, rest and joy. 

    God is doing a new thing for the Pentecostals of Fort Worth. We’re going to higher ground and with higher ground it calls for stronger commitment. A commitment where we lose ALL control and surrender to God. It’s a place where we no longer have understand what is going on and we have the mentality and attitude of “that’s okay because God’s in control” and the mentality of “Peace and Rest”. We are marching northward. We’re going to our promised land. We are blessed! And we are still anointed! We will CONTEND FOR THE FAITH!!

    Our God, the one and only true living God, deserves so much more respect and honor than all these other pagan gods. Seek Him with your whole heart, worship Him in Spirit and in truth, and let no one distract you from a deeper relationship with Him. We serve a God who wants relationship with us, those other pagan gods are a one way “relationship” where people get nothing in return. We serve a God who loves us, who daily, wants to talk with us and have relationship with us.

  11. 32 What thing soever I command you, observe to do it: thou shalt not add thereto, nor diminish from it.
    God was concerned about his people keeping his commandments but not adding to them placing a undo burden upon the people but also not diminishing it and taking away from what God had commanded. Its important to follow God as close as possible to what he says for us to do and strive to obey his commandments.

  12. Deuteronomy 12:30 (NLT)
    30 do not fall into the trap of following their customs and worshiping their gods. Do not inquire about their gods, saying, ‘How do these nations worship their gods? I want to follow their example.’

    Our God is holy. He is separate, unique, and special. He is not common, and as a result will not be worshipped commonly. He does not want us to worship him the same way the world worships their gods.

    The bible says to worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness. 1 Chronicles 16:19

    We do not come to church and drink alcohol, paint our bodies different colors, and scream like fools like God is some sport team.

    He is worthy of not just praise but awe, honor, and respect.

  13. 28 Be vigilant, listen obediently to these words that I command you so that you’ll have a good life, you and your children, for a long, long time, doing what is good and right in the eyes of God, your God. (MSG)

    In a few weeks we will be in the land that the Lord has given us to inherit and in that land there will be much sacrifice but with that sacrifice comes great joy!

    There is no explanation need it and none given and just in case you want to find a loop hole our God knowing the mind and thoughts of His creation adds in the last verse 32 What thing soever I command you, observe to do it: thou shalt not add thereto, nor diminish from it.

    “When GOD, your God, cuts off the nations whose land you are invading, shoves them out of your way so that you displace them and settle in their land, be careful that you don’t get curious about them after they’ve been destroyed before you. Don’t get fascinated with their gods, thinking, I wonder what it was like for them, worshipping their gods. I’d like to try that myself. Don’t do this to GOD, your God. They commit every imaginable abomination with their gods. GOD hates it all with a passion. Why, they even set their children on fire as offerings to their gods!”

    Curious means eager to learn or know something; unnecessarily inquisitive, prying; arousing attention or interest.
    Fascination means a strong attraction, charm, allure.

    Ever hear the old saying, “Curiosity killed the cat?” Well, it’s curiosity and fascination for other “god’s” and “things” of this world that kills a soul spiritually. God doesn’t want us to be curious or fascinated by the things of this world. He wants to be 1st in our lives, and He wants us to worship Him in Spirit and in Truth.

    Don’t be curious or fascinated by the things of this world, BUT Contend For THE FAITH!

  21. Ye shall not do after all the things that we do here this day, every man whatsoever is right in his own eyes.
    9 For ye are not as yet come to the rest and to the inheritance, which the Lord your God giveth you.

    God was still contending for the hearts and minds of his people. He is doing the same with us today because Satan offers us so many distractions to consume our time, energy and finances. We must determine to seek him first and allow him him to add blessings in his timing.

      Testimony,

      After I came back from trip to Seattle, after I spoke with my lawyer, (long story short) I was letting a family member know about my encounter. The Enemy try to intimidate me by saying ” you need to stop doing your bus ministry and start working Saturday and Sunday” to get the financial help you need. The Church has to understand, they are not going to die if you don’t do it. In my mind I knew it was the enemy’s words.
      So I responded, NO this situation is NOT going to stop me from serving in my ministry. Instead I’m going to thrust in GOD who is my provider and He will open doors when they need to be open.

      THANK YOU SISTER!!!

    We cannot just add nor take away what we want from the word of God. It is ALL there to help us reach heaven!

  23. GIVE TO GROW

    12 And ye shall rejoice before the Lord your God, ye, and your sons, and your daughters, and your menservants, and your maidservants, and the Levite that is within your gates; forasmuch as he hath no part nor inheritance with you.
    13 Take heed to thyself that thou offer not thy burnt offerings in every place that thou seest:
    14 But in the place which the Lord shall choose in one of thy tribes, there thou shalt offer thy burnt offerings, and there thou shalt do all that I command thee.

    These 3 verses remind me of how GOD intends for us to GIVE our offerings to HIM.

    1. Joyfully, we should envision the LORD accepting our offering as we bring it. It brings me joy to know that I have heard and obeyed the voice of GOD, that I am BLESSED to be in position to GIVE and that JESUS saved me. JOY

    2. Dont give to every need, every where you see one. I have always practiced this principal because I want to sow on good ground. We should pray for every need but not give to every need.

    3. GIVE where the LORD has led you. Your church, your Pastor, your mission field. GIVE where you are taught the WORD of GOD, GIVE where you Serve in Ministry. GIVE where you see FRUIT of the LORD.

    As we GIVE to the PLACE where GOD commands, with the attitude GOD intends, we are sowing into good ground.

    Thank you all for giving to The Pentecostals of Fort Worth, may the increase of the LORD be on YOU. I BLESS you in JESUS name.

    It is important for us to do what God asks us to do, we can’t pretend like we don’t hear God!!

    We must heed His direction, Follow His ways, and do it His WAY.

    I talked with a person about baptism, and since this person was not apostolic, this person said that she would jus have her friend baptize her in Jesus name, so that she would have it do the “right way”. I reminded her of Saul, having the Spirit of the Lord taken from him, because he wouldn’t wait for the priest, Samuel. I also asked what’s the point, it’s not obedience if it is not done the way Jesus laid it out in His word. We must offer our sacrifices the way He has laid out for us, not on our own terms…

  26. Pro 24:6 Strategic planning is the key to warfare; to win, you need a lot of good counsel.

    War could be considered the entire conflict between two entities. Within a war are many campaigns, operations, battles, missions, engagements, actions, tasks and combat. When you really break down all the aspects of a war, the lack of good counsel likely would be disastrous. Our time here on earth could be considered a war – on two fronts, satan and self. We can win!

    Ephesians 6: 10-12 And that about wraps it up. God is strong, and he wants you strong. So take everything the Master has set out for you, well-made weapons of the best materials. And put them to use so you will be able to stand up to everything the Devil throws your way. This is no afternoon athletic contest that we’ll walk away from and forget about in a couple of hours. This is for keeps, a life-or-death fight to the finish against the Devil and all his angels.

    Romans 7:18-20 But I need something more! For if I know the law but still can’t keep it, and if the power of sin within me keeps sabotaging my best intentions, I obviously need help! I realize that I don’t have what it takes. I can will it, but I can’t do it. I decide to do good, but I don’t really do it; I decide not to do bad, but then I do it anyway. My decisions, such as they are, don’t result in actions. Something has gone wrong deep within me and gets the better of me every time.

  28. Sacrifice in a Place Chosen by God
    Deuteronomy 12:5 But unto the place which the Lord your God shall choose out of all your tribes to put his name there,even unto his habitation shall ye seek, and thither thou shalt come:

    I Samuel 2:29 Wherefore kick ye at my sacrifice and at mine offering, which I have commanded in my habitation; and honourest thy sons above me ,to make yourselves fat with the chiefest of all the offerings of Israel my people?

  29. 8“Your pattern of worship will change. Today all of you are doing as you please.

    If your not careful, and let your guard down, you will end up worshiping their gods, or worshiping like pagans. We must always guard our heart and mind and worship our God, Jesus, at all times.

  30. If it looks like an alter.

    13 Take heed to thyself that thou offer not thy burnt offerings in every place that thou seest:
    14 But in the place which the Lord shall choose in one of thy tribes, there thou shalt offer thy burnt offerings, and there thou shalt do all that I command thee.

    Be carful on what you put your sacrifice on. The alter of self looks and seems to be just like the alter of God. But remember that God has separated himself from the world. So who’s alter are you using.

    God has already prepared the land for the victory we just have to obey all His commandments and continue to seek after Him like never before. We can not be complacent and act like we are done or like we have arrived. Now is the time that we must prause Him and worship Him even more.

  33. WHO ARE YOU SACRIFICING YOUR CHILDREN TO?

    Deuteronomy 12:31
    Thou shalt not do so unto the Lord thy God: for every abomination to the Lord, which he hateth, have they done unto their gods; for even their sons and their daughters they have burnt in the fire to their gods.

    Child Sacrifice, one of the most abominable sins to the Lord, was most often associated with Molech the pagan God of the Ammonites. In ceremonial fashion, children would be shoved into a furnace as a sacrifice to appease and invoke the blessing of Molech. The Canaanites were described as merciless murderers of their defenseless children.

    Are you sacrificing your kids into the fashions of this world?

    Are you sacrificing your kids distracting them in church service with iPad, cell, tablets games instead of teaching them to worship God in His sanctuary?

    Are you sacrificing them with things that keep them occupied in this world instead of the things of God?

    Are you sacrificing your kids by punishment you don’t let them go to activities in church?

    Are you Sacrificing your kids by not letting them get baptized, because they are to young?

    The God of Israel, by contract, required the death penalty for such act. ( Lev. 20:2-4) Both Manasseh and Ajax were guilty of child sacrifice. (2kin. 21:6, 2Chr. 28:3)

  34. Moses gives the warning to avoid idolatry at all costs. This is a big task for the Israelites because their land is “full of idols” (Isa 2:8). God hates idolatry because it replaces him as the center of their lives. It results in defeat, emptiness and danger for the idol worshipers. Idolatry is present any time we hand our hearts toward any person, behavior or idea other than God. How much better it is to choose with the psalmist: “I will praise you, Oh Lord, with all my heart; before the ‘god’s I will sing your praise. I will now down toward your holy temple and will praise your name for your love and your faithfulness, for you have exalted above all things your name and your word” (Ps 138: 1-2).

  35. 31 Thou shalt not do so unto the Lord thy God: for every abomination to the Lord, which he hateth, have they done unto their gods; for even their sons and their daughters they have burnt in the fire to their gods.

    32 What thing soever I command you, observe to do it: thou shalt not add thereto, nor diminish from it.

    This thought came to mind…God considers it an abomination to offer up their sons and daugthers…. That is why it is even more clear to know that He Himself paid the price for our sins. What mind of father would send his son to his job and die in his stead ? He is the father in creation and the son in redemption.

  36. Trying to take an offering before God any kind way or place, will not work. There is a certain way to bring your offering unto the Lord. If we follow what God is saying, we can receive what God has for us.

  37. “Take heed to thyself that thou be not snared by following them, after that they be destroyed from before thee; and that thou enquire not after their gods, saying, How did these nations serve their gods? even so will I do likewise.” The word of God (Jesus) gives reason why one should not. One is unwise not too heed the word of God (Judge), for one can easily become snared (caught up, involved in) in what one should not. Dear God, help us that we may obey and not become snared in anything unpleasing to you. God Bless America, Israel, Jerusalem, and you all in Jesus name, Amen!

  38. “What thing soever I command you, observe to do it: thou shalt not add thereto, nor diminish from it.” The Lord’s ways are to be obeyed, and not changed so that they fit our ways or our wants. Thought should be given to doing, just as it should be too not doing. God help us that we would observe and do what you would have us to do, in Jesus name.

  39. 3 And ye shall overthrow their altars, and break their pillars, and burn their groves with fire; and ye shall hew down the graven images of their gods, and destroy the names of them out of that place.

    4 Ye shall not do so unto the Lord your God.

    5 But unto the place which the Lord your God shall choose out of all your tribes to put his name there, even unto his habitation shall ye seek, and thither thou shalt come:

    We are to seek first the Kingdom of God! (Mathew 6:33) In our seeking for His Kingdom we will have run-ins with satan and the kingdom he is desiring to expand here on other. In these times we are not to become distracted but focused on His Kingdom and destroy all others. The greatest way to tear down the enemy is obedience. Continue to obey the voice of God even when emotions and others are screaming louder and louder not to. He has placed His Spirit within us and it is our responsibility to place His Word in our hearts to nurture and feed the Holy Ghost that. This will enable us to GROW up in Him.

    Throughout the Bible many times the children of Israel would keep the spoil from the enemies that they defeat and other times they would kill everything. I believe sometimes as men and women of God we are so busy trying to keep what we believe is worth keeping that we forget the more we keep the more we have to carry. He is leading us to the promise land and what you keep you have to carry with you. The journey may be long and the terrain may not be the best, so at some point that stuff your trying to hold onto will weigh you down.

    I would rather kill it all and enjoy the splendor of my promised land than to carry it all and die in my wilderness. Satan you and your stuff have to go!

  40. 1 These are the statutes and judgments, which ye shall observe to do in the land, which the Lord God of thy fathers giveth thee to possess it, all the days that ye live upon the earth.

    2 Ye shall utterly destroy all the places, wherein the nations which ye shall possess served their gods, upon the high mountains, and upon the hills, and under every green tree:

    3 And ye shall overthrow their altars, and break their pillars, and burn their groves with fire; and ye shall hew down the graven images of their gods, and destroy the names of them out of that place.

    4 Ye shall not do so unto the Lord your God.

    Get rid of the idols give no place where the enemy can come in. But don’t do it to God, to Him I must rebuild my alter, and Him and Him only I must serve

  41. 2 Ye shall utterly destroy all the places, wherein the nations which ye shall possess served their gods, upon the high mountains, and upon the hills, and under every green tree:

    My GOD IS A JEALOUS GOD AND HE IS OF ORDER.
    HALELUJAH!!! YOU ARE GREAT AND MIGHTY!!! JESUS I PRAISE YOU!!!

  42. 7 And there ye shall eat before the Lord your God, and ye shall rejoice in all that ye put your hand unto, ye and your households, wherein the Lord thy God hath blessed thee.

    8 Ye shall not do after all the things that we do here this day, every man whatsoever is right in his own eyes.

    9 For ye are not as yet come to the rest and to the inheritance, which the Lord your God giveth you.

    It’s so crazy how the Word of God speaks to us differently. The only reason I speak this is because I lived it and I’ve seen even my own family do this. We get preached all of lives and we obey and get baptized but there is no turn from sin or fruits of repentance. We rejoiced because a soul is getting baptized but the aftermath after some time is sometimes saddening. I grown and intercede for those lost in my family that feel to do what’s right in there own eyes and not seek after God and his righteousness. Our focus should be the our inheritance in heaven, living as a life with out reproach rejecting evil and not making this world our home but a temporary dwelling because we are waiting for our Master.

    For far to long I have avoided the truth about me. I lived that life, every single holiday was important to me. Especially Halloween. I didn’t understand it until this very moment. God is the most important in my life. Until I got baptized, I was still thinking as a pagan. I THANK YOU JESUS FOR MY DELIVERANCE!! You are awesome and I love you for all that you have done. God bless and Love you all.

  44. Verses 2-4 MSG “Ruthlessly demolish all the sacred shrines where the nations that you’re driving out worship their gods—wherever you find them, on hills and mountains or in groves of green trees. Tear apart their altars. Smash their phallic pillars. Burn their sex-and-religion Asherah shrines. Break up their carved gods. Obliterate the names of those god sites. Stay clear of those places—don’t let what went on there contaminate the worship of God, your God.” Heed the warnings and stay clear from anything that will try to contaminate your walk with the Lord. If someone or something is not going to bring your relationship closer with the Lord, then bye…bye! Stay focused on the promise of the only one true God, Jesus!

  45. 29 When the Lord thy God shall cut off the nations from before thee, whither thou goest to possess them, and thou succeedest them, and dwellest in their land;

    30 Take heed to thyself that thou be not snared by following them, after that they be destroyed from before thee; and that thou enquire not after their gods, saying, How did these nations serve their gods? even so will I do likewise.

    Our hearts must be purified each day in holiness so that we may lead others to Christ.

    Cutting ties with our past that led us to sin, and those that approved of and encouraged sin is very important when we come to God. Good and evil cannot flow from the same vessel. Being in the world but not of the world is so important. Find a group of people that believe in you and believe the same as you and make friends with them. You need to be a light to those that are in sin, but don’t make your bed with them, find your support and encouragement from those who are going in the same direction, seeking the path of righteousness.

  47. 23 Only be sure that thou eat not the blood: for the blood is the life; and thou mayest not eat the life with the flesh.

    The blood of Jesus is what washed our sins away.

  48. Stretch

    1 Chronichles 4:10 “… Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me! And God granted him that which he requested.”

    We pray that God would enlarge our coasts, but then what?

    “When the Lord thy God shall enlarge thy border, as he hath promised thee, and thou shalt say, I will eat flesh, because thy soul longeth to eat flesh; thou mayest eat flesh, whatsoever thy soul lusteth after.”
    ‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭12:20‬ ‭KJV

    God doesn’t just want us to have increase so we have more. He wants us to have dominion. He wants us to be provided for. He wants us to thrive as our soul thrives. We must take our rest and our nourishment after we stretch. It is the meat that we desire, but in the next verse it talks about how to be careful to do
    It properly. So even though some people think rest mean–I’m free to do what I want, it actually means you still have to follow God’s commands even when you catch your breath and are fed.
