Deuteronomy 15

1 At the end of every seven years thou shalt make a release.

2 And this is the manner of the release: Every creditor that lendeth ought unto his neighbour shall release it; he shall not exact it of his neighbour, or of his brother; because it is called the Lord’s release.

3 Of a foreigner thou mayest exact it again: but that which is thine with thy brother thine hand shall release;

4 Save when there shall be no poor among you; for the Lord shall greatly bless thee in the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee for an inheritance to possess it:

5 Only if thou carefully hearken unto the voice of the Lord thy God, to observe to do all these commandments which I command thee this day.

6 For the Lord thy God blesseth thee, as he promised thee: and thou shalt lend unto many nations, but thou shalt not borrow; and thou shalt reign over many nations, but they shall not reign over thee.

7 If there be among you a poor man of one of thy brethren within any of thy gates in thy land which the Lord thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not harden thine heart, nor shut thine hand from thy poor brother:

8 But thou shalt open thine hand wide unto him, and shalt surely lend him sufficient for his need, in that which he wanteth.

9 Beware that there be not a thought in thy wicked heart, saying, The seventh year, the year of release, is at hand; and thine eye be evil against thy poor brother, and thou givest him nought; and he cry unto the Lord against thee, and it be sin unto thee.

10 Thou shalt surely give him, and thine heart shall not be grieved when thou givest unto him: because that for this thing the Lord thy God shall bless thee in all thy works, and in all that thou puttest thine hand unto.

11 For the poor shall never cease out of the land: therefore I command thee, saying, Thou shalt open thine hand wide unto thy brother, to thy poor, and to thy needy, in thy land.

12 And if thy brother, an Hebrew man, or an Hebrew woman, be sold unto thee, and serve thee six years; then in the seventh year thou shalt let him go free from thee.

13 And when thou sendest him out free from thee, thou shalt not let him go away empty:

14 Thou shalt furnish him liberally out of thy flock, and out of thy floor, and out of thy winepress: of that wherewith the Lord thy God hath blessed thee thou shalt give unto him.

15 And thou shalt remember that thou wast a bondman in the land of Egypt, and the Lord thy God redeemed thee: therefore I command thee this thing to day.

16 And it shall be, if he say unto thee, I will not go away from thee; because he loveth thee and thine house, because he is well with thee;

17 Then thou shalt take an aul, and thrust it through his ear unto the door, and he shall be thy servant for ever. And also unto thy maidservant thou shalt do likewise.

18 It shall not seem hard unto thee, when thou sendest him away free from thee; for he hath been worth a double hired servant to thee, in serving thee six years: and the Lord thy God shall bless thee in all that thou doest.

19 All the firstling males that come of thy herd and of thy flock thou shalt sanctify unto the Lord thy God: thou shalt do no work with the firstling of thy bullock, nor shear the firstling of thy sheep.

20 Thou shalt eat it before the Lord thy God year by year in the place which the Lord shall choose, thou and thy household.

21 And if there be any blemish therein, as if it be lame, or blind, or have any ill blemish, thou shalt not sacrifice it unto the Lord thy God.

22 Thou shalt eat it within thy gates: the unclean and the clean person shall eat it alike, as the roebuck, and as the hart.

23 Only thou shalt not eat the blood thereof; thou shalt pour it upon the ground as water.

  1. 6 For the Lord thy God blesseth thee, as he promised thee: and thou shalt lend unto many nations, but thou shalt not borrow; and thou shalt reign over many nations, but they shall not reign over thee.

  2. Verses 10-11 MSG “Give freely and spontaneously. Don’t have a stingy heart. The way you handle matters like this triggers God, your God’s, blessing in everything you do, all your work and ventures. There are always going to be poor and needy people among you. So I command you: Always be generous, open purse and hands, give to your neighbors in trouble, your poor and hurting neighbors.” Same verses CEV “You should be happy to give the poor what they need, because then the Lord will make you successful in everything you do. There will always be some Israelites who are poor and needy. That’s why I am commanding you to be generous with them.” Many in this world are seeking to climb the ladder to success by going to seminars and things. Verses 4-5 NLT say “There should be no poor among you, for the Lord your God will greatly bless you in the land he is giving you as a special possession. You will receive this blessing if you are careful to obey all the commands of the Lord your God that I am giving you today.” We are blessed to be a blessing!

  3. But perhaps your slave will say to you at the end of the six years, “I don’t want to be set free! I love you and your whole family. It’s really good for me to be here with you.” You can accept a slave like this into lifetime service. Perform a special ceremony to mark his new status. Have the slave stand right next to the door of your house, take an awl, and drive it through the slave’s ear lobe into the door. Then pull it out. This will make marks in the ear lobe and in the door that will symbolize the slave. Either a male or a female slave can enter lifetime service this way with this physical mark.Voice

    Marked for life…

Everyone they met could tell that they had joined themselves to a master by the mark made in their ear. Likewise, I want everyone I meet to be able to tell that I have joined myself to The Master by the mark He is leaving on my life. They should be able to tell, ‘This guy belongs to Jesus!’

  4. The good the bad and the ugly

“A spoken reprimand is better than approval that’s never expressed.” Proverbs‬ ‭27:5‬ ‭MSG‬‬

Communicate. If its good, say so. If its bad, say so and if its ugly – say so politely. When we first married Tammy cooked something, i cannot remember what it was but I did not like it. I told her this was not the way I liked it. Some might think that is harsh; however, if I never told her the truth I would be stuck eating something I dont like for the rest of my life. If communication is the answer – what is the question?

What is the secret to a long and happy marriage?

  5. I AM BLESSED TO GROW

6 For the Lord thy God blesseth thee, as he promised thee: and thou shalt lend unto many nations, but thou shalt not borrow; and thou shalt reign over many nations, but they shall not reign over thee.

When the LORD blesses us we will GROW stronger, faster and MORE than other nations. When we are in debt we are at a disadvantage, because we must agree to the terms of the lender. The lender is the master and the borrower is the servant.

When the LORD our GOD blesseth us, we will no longer need to borrow, but we will become the lender. This one gift from GOD changes our position and gives us leverage, which gives GOD leverage.

  6. 16 And it shall be, if he say unto thee, I will not go away from thee; because he loveth thee and thine house, because he is well with thee;

  7. We are made to be different from this world, God made us in his image not the worlds image, we may not listen to the same music or dress the same as everyone else, but we still live in this world and its our choice what life we want to live, I want to live the way God intended for us to live!!

  8. “Give freely and spontaneously. Don’t have a stingy heart. The way you handle matters like this triggers GOD, your God’s, blessing in everything you do, all your work and ventures. There are always going to be poor and needy people among you. So I command you: Always be generous, open purse and hands, give to your neighbors in trouble, your poor and hurting neighbors.”
    ‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭15:10-11‬ ‭MSG‬‬

  9. 10 Thou shalt surely give him, and thine heart shall not be grieved when thou givest unto him: because that for this thing the Lord thy God shall bless thee in all thy works, and in all that thou puttest thine hand unto.

11 For the poor shall never cease out of the land: therefore I command thee, saying, Thou shalt open thine hand wide unto thy brother, to thy poor, and to thy needy, in thy land.

  10. The release

2 And this is the manner of the release: Every creditor that lendeth ought unto his neighbour shall release it; he shall not exact it of his neighbour, or of his brother; because it is called the Lord’s release.

    Let it go!
God forgives sin but he cannot make you release it or let it go. When we are bottled up with frustration, guilt, anxiety, malice, strife, anger ect… God forgives all these things but we have to let them go. When we are at the altar this morning we should raise our hands and let it go, release the past that holds us back and while our hands are up grab ahold of the future that God has in store for us.

  11. We are Rich!!!!!!!

Say goodbye to the poor mentality FOR IN THE KINGDOM OF GOD THERE IS NO POOR. We believe His word, not some of it but all of it!!! So He says there will be no poor so that makes us RICH!!! Thank you Jesus for adopting us into such of abundant inheritance. May we all leave that poor mentality behind and part take of the riches in heaven in Christ Jesus AMEN

  12. iLove to Grow in the Word

Slavery in Biblical times was not as we might think in the eyes of our culture today. God

  13. Deuteronomy 15:18 (NLT)
18 “You must not consider it a hardship when you release your servants. Remember that for six years they have given you services worth double the wages of hired workers, and the Lord your God will bless you in all you do.

God will bless us when we keep his word and when we keep our word. Those who refused to allow the servant to go didn’t have a issue wit him but with God. Our obedience is simple and paramount to our success in the kingdom.

  14. 6) for the LORD thy GOD blesseth thee as he promised thee and thou shalt lend unto many nations but thou shalt not borrow and thou shalt reign over many nations but they shall not reign over three

  15. 7 If there be among you a poor man of one of thy brethren within any of thy gates in thy land which the Lord thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not harden thine heart, nor shut thine hand from thy poor brother:

8 But thou shalt open thine hand wide unto him, and shalt surely lend him sufficient for his need, in that which he wanteth.
these versus Tell us of the importance of being willing to give to our brother and sister. We should not hold back the blessings that God has given us instead we should be willing to give freely to help our brothers and sisters understanding that God will bless us for those sacrifices. The Bible says that there will always be the poor Among Us and he expects those of the church so we want to give up their resources to help support the fatherless the widows and the poor.

  16. 10 Thou shalt surely give him, and thine heart shall not be grieved when thou givest unto him: because that for this thing the Lord thy God shall bless thee in all thy works, and in all that thou puttest thine hand unto.

We should always give no matter how we feel about the person. The Bible says that we should not grieve when we give, God will bless us in everything we do because we have blessed someone else with a pure heart

  17. Deut. 15:7-8 & 10-11
    7) If there be among you a poor man of one of thy brethren within any of thy gates in thy land which the LORD thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not harden thine heart, nor shut thine hand from thy poor brother:
    8) But thou shalt open thine hand wide unto him, and shalt surely lend him sufficient for his need, in that which he wanteth.

    10) Thou shalt surely give him, and thine heart shall not be grieved when thou givest unto him: because that for this thing the LORD thy God shall bless thee in all that thou puttest thine hand unto.
    11) For the poor shall never cease out of the land: therefore I command thee, saying, Thou shalt open thine hand wide unto thy brother, to thy poor, and to thy needy, in thy land.

Paul said in Acts 20:35, “… to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.”

If you, Open Thine Hands Wide and Give to thy brother, the poor, and needy, God will bless and prosper you.

  18. 15 And thou shalt remember that thou wast a bondman in the land of Egypt, and the Lord thy God redeemed thee: therefore I command thee this thing to day.

What a fitting chapter and scripture today for “Resurrection Sunday.” I don’t want to ever forget where the Lord has brought me from and what He has kept me from. Because I grew up in an Apostolic Church I did not participate in a lot that others have, but that in itself is a great testimony that the Lord has kept me and brought me a might long way…….I’m forever grateful.

  19. If there be among you a poor man of one of thy brethren within any of thy gates in thy land which the Lord thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not harden thine heart, nor shut thine hand from thy poor brother:

  20. “And this is the manner of the release: Every creditor that lendeth ought unto his neighbour shall release it; he shall not exact it of his neighbour, or of his brother; because it is called the Lord’s release.” The word of God (Jesus) stated to release (let it go). Albeit one that sees this as a way of simply avoiding repayment of what one owes, would be wise to inquire from God (Judge); before one stands before him. Dear God, help us in doing what is right in your sight. God Bless America, Israel, Jerusalem, and you all in Jesus name, Amen!

  21. “Then thou shalt take an aul, and thrust it through his ear unto the door, and he shall be thy servant for ever. And also unto thy maidservant thou shalt do likewise.” The reason behind something may not always be what we may want, feel, or believe; never the less it will not change the reason. God help us to seek you first and for the right reason, in Jesus name.

  22. 2 And this is the manner of the release: Every creditor that lendeth ought unto his neighbour shall release it; he shall not exact it of his neighbour, or of his brother; because it is called the Lord’s release.

  23. “For the LORD your God will bless you just as He promised you; you shall lend to many nations, but you shall not borrow; you shall reign over many nations, but they shall not reign over you.”(Deuteronomy‬ ‭15:6‬ NKJV)

For the Lord thy God blesseth thee, as he promised thee,…. He is faithful that has promised, and he always gives the blessing he promises according to the nature of the promise; if absolute, and without conditions, he gives it without respect to any; but if conditional, as the promises of temporal good things to Israel were, he gives according as the condition is performed and thou shalt lend unto many nations, but thou shall not borrow; signifying they should be so rich and increased in goods, and worldly substance, that they should be able to lend to their neighbouring nations round about, but should stand in no need of borrowing of any of them.

  24. Moses reminds the Isrealites of Hebrew law and reveals a wonderful picture of wholehearted service to God. Hebrews enslaved by Hebrews are to be released after six years (vs 12). A slave, however, might choose a lifetime of service. This commitment is marked by piercing the ear of the slave in a ceremony at the door of the masters’ house. A lifelong commitment to derive ensures the security of the slave, gives stability and security to his or her family, and testifies to a consecrated relationship between the slave and the master. The commitment is voluntary. Paul encouraged us to make the same commitment: “Offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God- this is your spiritual act of worship” (Ro 12:1).

  25. 9 Beware that there be not a thought in thy wicked heart, saying, The seventh year, the year of release, is at hand; and thine eye be evil against thy poor brother, and thou givest him nought; and he cry unto the Lord against thee, and it be sin unto thee.

  26. 10 Thou shalt surely give him, and thine heart shall not be grieved when thou givest unto him: because that for this thing the Lord thy God shall bless thee in all thy works, and in all that thou puttest thine hand unto.

The blesses his people that we may be a blessing unto others. The word of God here tells us to jot hold back but open our hand. One may say, well I dont know of any that is in need, and that is exactly why we have the church. The church knows where to allocate resources to help the ones that need of it.

  27. 4“There should be no poor among you, for the LORD your God will greatly bless you in the land he is giving you as a special possession.

One will not be poor if they obey the Lord, but once disobedience settles in- God does not guarantee blessings your way. To receive blessings you have to obey and try to follow God’s way of living.

  28. DEUTERONOMY 16:7-10
As the years of release approach, some would withhold their generosity because the debt would be canceled soon an the payback would be minimal if any. Moises warned against this attitude. To be generous at all times, regardless of the year or possibility of collection, would invoke God’s blessings of prosperity.

  29. 4 Save when there shall be no poor among you; for the Lord shall greatly bless thee in the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee for an inheritance to possess it:

The only way that we can get to a place where there is poor in our community is if we go out and help them. We may not be able to help everyone, but that shouldn’t stop us from trying.

  30. 11 For the poor shall never cease out of the land: therefore I command thee, saying, Thou shalt open thine hand wide unto thy brother, to thy poor, and to thy needy, in thy land.

I’m so glad that POFW is a church that gives to the community to help those in need. It is better to give than to receive, and we can’t out give our God.

  31. 6 For the Lord thy God blesseth thee, as he promised thee: and thou shalt lend unto many nations, but thou shalt not borrow; and thou shalt reign over many nations, but they shall not reign over thee.

We are a BLESSED nation. We are the lenders and not the borrowers,

  32. “Beware that there be not a thought in thy wicked heart, saying, The seventh year, the year of release, is at hand; and thine eye be evil against thy poor brother, and thou givest him nought; and he cry unto the Lord against thee, and it be sin unto thee.”
    ‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭15:9‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Why America has so many issues related to slavery. Greed is a matter of the heart and it did not allow for a year of release.

  33. 15 And thou shalt remember that thou wast a bondman in the land of Egypt, and the Lord thy God redeemed thee: therefore I command thee this thing to day.

Never forget where you come from!
Always remember where you come from. To never be He old creature again. A slave and free men act different. Slaves have a jail mindset. The same as a ox that is weighed down with a yoke, slaves walk around with heavy shoulders. They have a hard time lifting there hands or raising there voice.

Pay attention to your spiritual vital signs. You might need a reminder of where and what deliver from.

  34. Deuteronomy 15 19 Set apart for the Lord your God every firstborn male of your herds and flocks. Do not put the firstborn or your cows to work and do not shear the firstborn of your sheep. Each year to you and your family are to eat them in the presence of the Lord your God at the place he will choose. If an animal has a defect is lame or blind or has a serious flaw you must not sacrifice it to the Lord your God. You are to eat it in your own towns. Both the ceremonially unclean and the clean may eat it as is it were gazelle or dear. But you must not eat the blood pour it out on the ground like water.
