Deuteronomy 25

1 If there be a controversy between men, and they come unto judgment, that the judges may judge them; then they shall justify the righteous, and condemn the wicked.

2 And it shall be, if the wicked man be worthy to be beaten, that the judge shall cause him to lie down, and to be beaten before his face, according to his fault, by a certain number.

3 Forty stripes he may give him, and not exceed: lest, if he should exceed, and beat him above these with many stripes, then thy brother should seem vile unto thee.

4 Thou shalt not muzzle the ox when he treadeth out the corn.

5 If brethren dwell together, and one of them die, and have no child, the wife of the dead shall not marry without unto a stranger: her husband’s brother shall go in unto her, and take her to him to wife, and perform the duty of an husband’s brother unto her.

6 And it shall be, that the firstborn which she beareth shall succeed in the name of his brother which is dead, that his name be not put out of Israel.

7 And if the man like not to take his brother’s wife, then let his brother’s wife go up to the gate unto the elders, and say, My husband’s brother refuseth to raise up unto his brother a name in Israel, he will not perform the duty of my husband’s brother.

8 Then the elders of his city shall call him, and speak unto him: and if he stand to it, and say, I like not to take her;

9 Then shall his brother’s wife come unto him in the presence of the elders, and loose his shoe from off his foot, and spit in his face, and shall answer and say, So shall it be done unto that man that will not build up his brother’s house.

10 And his name shall be called in Israel, The house of him that hath his shoe loosed.

11 When men strive together one with another, and the wife of the one draweth near for to deliver her husband out of the hand of him that smiteth him, and putteth forth her hand, and taketh him by the secrets:

12 Then thou shalt cut off her hand, thine eye shall not pity her.

13 Thou shalt not have in thy bag divers weights, a great and a small.

14 Thou shalt not have in thine house divers measures, a great and a small.

15 But thou shalt have a perfect and just weight, a perfect and just measure shalt thou have: that thy days may be lengthened in the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee.

16 For all that do such things, and all that do unrighteously, are an abomination unto the Lord thy God.

17 Remember what Amalek did unto thee by the way, when ye were come forth out of Egypt;

18 How he met thee by the way, and smote the hindmost of thee, even all that were feeble behind thee, when thou wast faint and weary; and he feared not God.

19 Therefore it shall be, when the Lord thy God hath given thee rest from all thine enemies round about, in the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee for an inheritance to possess it, that thou shalt blot out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven; thou shalt not forget it.

  1. Hallelujah!!! He has taken care of the enemy so we may take our inheritance

19 Therefore it shall be, when the Lord thy God hath given thee rest from all thine enemies round about, in the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee for an inheritance to possess it, that thou shalt blot out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven; thou shalt not forget it.

Now, we need to blot out the memory of the Amalek, and not forget to do it.

  2. 19 Therefore it shall be, when the Lord thy God hath given thee rest from all thine enemies round about, in the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee for an inheritance to possess it, that thou shalt blot out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven; thou shalt not forget it.

  3. Verse 19 AMP “Therefore when the Lord your God has given you rest from all your surrounding enemies, in the land which the Lord your God gives you as an inheritance to possess, you shall wipe out the memory of Amalek from under heaven; you must not forget.” Same verse MSG “When God, your God, gives you rest from all the enemies that surround you in the inheritance-land God, your God, is giving you to possess, you are to wipe the name of Amalek from off the Earth. Don’t forget!”

  4. 19 Therefore it shall be, when the Lord thy God hath given thee rest from all thine enemies round about, in the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee for an inheritance to possess it, that thou shalt blot out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven; thou shalt not forget it.

  5. 17. Remember what the Amalekites did to you as you were coming out of Egypt?

    18. They found you on the road when you were all worn out, and they attacked those who had fallen behind and were isolated and defenseless. They showed no fear of God.

The enemy still uses this tactic today – taking advantage of any fatigue or weakness he can find. However, we don’t have to stand there and take it – we can declare war on the enemy and call on our God either for ourselves or for our brothers and sisters that we see are struggling.

Every believer all over the world
    Wake up and realize
Satan is busy destroying the world
    Right before our very eyes
Our children are killing our children
Guns and knives terrorize our schools
We can’t just stand here, we can’t accept this
There’s only one thing left for the believers to do

We declare war against the enemy
He is defeated Satan’s under our feet
We cannot lose with the Lord on our side
Satan, this is it, we’re tired of taking it
    Satan, we declare war

The enemy is cunning and his strategy is sure
    On this you can depend
The devil hates it when we glorify God
He wants us to glorify him
That’s why our music is losing its power
Worldly influence is making it sour
There’s no gospel, there’s no anointing
We cannot let this happen in this critical hour

  6. But thou shalt have a perfect and just weight, a perfect and just measure shalt thou have: that thy days may be lengthened in the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee. (‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭25‬:‭15‬ KJV)

  7. 15 But thou shalt have a perfect and just weight, a perfect and just measure shalt thou have: that thy days may be lengthened in the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee.

  8. When we go into our new land that Hid has promised us. Me must look back and remember the days of trouble that we had. But remember the enemies that this church had defeated a one. Mighty is God!

“Therefore it shall be, when the Lord thy God hath given thee rest from all thine enemies round about, in the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee for an inheritance to possess it, that thou shalt blot out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven; thou shalt not forget it.”
    ‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭25:19‬ ‭KJV‬‬

  9. “Don’t have two different scales. You must not have one that weighs things heavier than they really are and another that weighs them lighter than they are. And don’t have two different sets of measures. You must not have one set that measures things larger than they really are and another that measures them smaller than they are. You must use weights and measures that are honest and exact. Then you will live a long time in the land the Lord your God is giving you.”
    ‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭25:13-15‬ ‭NIRV‬‬

The bible is the only measurement I want to use for my life. I can’t rely on my own judgment.

“There is a way that may seem right to a man. But in the end it leads to death.”

  10. 17 Remember what Amalek did unto thee by the way, when ye were come forth out of Egypt;

    John 10:10
The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

we need not to fear the enemy, but we do need to keep in mind what he can be capable of doing if we come out from under the covering!!!
Ohhhh the BLOOD OF JESUS!!! THANK YOU DADDY!!!

  11. Deuteronomy 25:14
Thou shalt not have in thine house divers measures a great and a small.
Grow with Jesus in Faith and we must follow him for what he wants us to down and Trust Jesus too . Amen

  12. iLove to Grow in the Word
“But thou shalt have a perfect and just weight, a perfect and just measure shalt thou have: that thy days may be lengthened in the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee.”
    ‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭25:15‬ ‭KJV‬‬

The Lord continues to remind Israel (and us) how important honesty is. Whether it’s a business deal or even in everyday situations, God wants us to refuse deceptive practices and he wants us to walk in truth.

  13. Just Weights
Deuteronomy 25:13-16 Thou shalt not have in thy bag divers weights, a great and a small. Thou shalt not have in thine house divers measures, a great and a small. But thou shalt have a perfect and just weight, a perfect and just measure shalt thou have: that thy days may be lengthened in the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee. For all that do such things, and all that do unrighteously, are an abomination unto the Lord thy God

A just weight is a ” righteous one”, a weight that conforms to the norm. A similar law appears in Leviticus 19:35,36. Amos 8:5 gives evidence that this law was broken. Not only does the law prohibit the use of all dishonest weights and measures, but it even prohibits their possession. Israel was urged to avoid tempting situations as well as the actual Acts themselves.

Psalm 11:1 A false balance is abomination to the Lord: but a just weight is his delight.

Psalm 20:23 Divers weights are an abomination unto the Lord; and a false balance is not good.

I Thess.3:6 That no man go beyond and defraud his brother in any matter : because that the Lord is the avenger of all such, as we also have forewarned you and testified.

  14. 19 Therefore, when the Lord your God has given you rest from all your enemies in the land he is giving you as a special possession, you must destroy the Amalekites and erase their memory from under heaven. Never forget this! (NLT)

We are turning northward and moving forward to a land God has promised us!

  15. 4 Thou shalt not muzzle the ox when he treadeth out the corn.

This phrase is mentioned two other times in the bible, by Paul in 1 Cor. 9:9 and 1 Tim. 5:18.

    1 Timothy 5:18(MSG)
Give a bonus to leaders who do a good job, especially the ones who work hard at preaching and teaching. Scripture tells us, “Don’t muzzle a working ox” and “A worker deserves his pay.”

We must learn not only to be just, but kind, to all that are employed for our good, not only to maintain but to encourage them, especially those that labour among us in the word and doctrine, and so are employed for the good of our better part. (Matthew Henry’s Commentary)

  16. Thou shalt not muzzle the ox when he treadeth out the corn.

This verse seems easy to understand; a worker earns the right to be rewarded for their efforts. However, it has been my experience not every farmer has everything they need to be self-sufficient. Farmers will partner with neighboring farmers and utilize each other’s strengths and assist where their neighbors are weak. We had a neighbor that had meat processing tools and equipment. When deer season came around this neighbor did not have to hunt. The cost of using his tools and equipment was a portion of the animal. It was a fair trade for all.

We should be fair with our neighbors, coworkers, employees, employers, strangers, family and friends. We can never tell whom God may place in our path and how we are being tested or prepared for a blessing. Can God trust me? Can God trust you?

  17. 19 Therefore it shall be, when the Lord thy God hath given thee rest from all thine enemies round about, in the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee for an inheritance to possess it, that thou shalt blot out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven; thou shalt not forget it.

Glory! Turning to our promise land where we will see growth explode. Its nothing but warfare prayer right now. Praying for all those souls that are going to be coming and staying. For God to send angels and encamp over their lives. So when they enter to POFW they will have an open heart and open ears and be sensitive to the Lords spirit. People are crying for the Lord be in prayer for all those that are about to come.

  18. 6  And it shall be, that the firstborn which she beareth shall succeed in the name of his brother which is dead, that his name be not put out of Israel

    Honoring the fallen.

When I read this is thought at first ,”Well that’s weird, because it not his brothers child.” But if you think about it that is a great testament to the brothers love for each other. In the church. It doesn’t just take one person to help a new believer. But it takes several to help them survive. Yes they connect with maybe one person in particular but it takes a whole church. Let’s be unified and help one another out.

  19. A TIME TO FORGET OUR TROUBLES

19 Therefore it shall be, when the Lord thy God hath given thee rest from all thine enemies round about, in the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee for an inheritance to possess it, that thou shalt blot out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven; thou shalt not forget it.

There is a REST coming from the LORD! A rest that will not allow us to even remember our most challenging adversary. Thank you JESUS for your promises!

  20. 15 But thou shalt have a perfect and just weight, a perfect and just measure shalt thou have: that thy days may be lengthened in the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee.

16 For all that do such things, and all that do unrighteously, are an abomination unto the Lord thy God.

GOD wants us to deal fairly and justly with those that we rub shoulders with. When we live in this manner God promises to prolong our days and bless us. But if we treat people worng and unfairly two things will happen: 1. We sin agains God and are a abomination. 2. We reap what we sow and somebody else will treat us the same way. Let us strive to be pleasing to God by treating others right and walking upright before Him.

  21. Deut. 25:13-16
    13) Thou shalt not have in thy bag divers weights, a great and a small.
    14) Thou shalt not have in thine house divers measures, a great and a small.
    15) But thou shalt have a perfect and just weight, a perfect and just measure shalt thou have: that thy days may be lengthened in the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.
    16) For all that do such things, and all that do unrighteously, are an abomination unto the LORD thy God.

    “Honesty is the Best Policy”
Be Honest in all you do and God will bless you with length of days.
But be Dishonest and you become an abomination to God.

  22. 18 How he met thee by the way, and smote the hindmost of thee, even all that were feeble behind thee, when thou wast faint and weary; and he feared not God.

19 Therefore it shall be, when the Lord thy God hath given thee rest from all thine enemies round about, in the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee for an inheritance to possess it, that thou shalt blot out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven; thou shalt not forget it.

The devil has tried to come against us and weaken us, but he cannot prevail for we found our strength in the Lord!!

  23. 19 Therefore it shall be, when the Lord thy God hath given thee rest from all thine enemies round about, in the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee for an inheritance to possess it, that thou shalt blot out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven; thou shalt not forget it.

We never need to forget what God has done for us!!

  24. 19 When thou cuttest down thine harvest in thy field, and hast forgot a sheaf in the field, thou shalt not go again to fetch it: it shall be for the stranger, for the fatherless, and for the widow: that the Lord thy God may bless thee in all the work of thine hands.

20 When thou beatest thine olive tree, thou shalt not go over the boughs again: it shall be for the stranger, for the fatherless, and for the widow.

21 When thou gatherest the grapes of thy vineyard, thou shalt not glean it afterward: it shall be for the stranger, for the fatherless, and for the widow.

  25. 16 Dishonest weights and measures are an abomination to God, your God – all this corruption in business deals! MSG
Don’t be dishonest with yourself, neighbors, etc. be what God wants you to be. If you are doing something to someone that is wrong you are being dishonest. Let’s life up one another and love them and be there for them.

  26. 11 When men strive together one with another, and the wife of the one draweth near for to deliver her husband out of the hand of him that smiteth him, and putteth forth her hand, and taketh him by the secrets:

12 Then thou shalt cut off her hand, thine eye shall not pity her.

This is what happens when family is denied. Who am I to deny the will of God. This is what happened to me in the past. These two verses just leaped at me about things that I have allowed to happen, when it comes to family. Who am I to deny my brethren and other family that needed help. Wow God is awesome.

19 Therefore it shall be, when the Lord thy God hath given thee rest from all thine enemies round about, in the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee for an inheritance to possess it, that thou shalt blot out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven; thou shalt not forget it.

This is where I’m at now. The enemy will never bring me out of God’s rest. I will never a blind eye anymore to a family member. To God be the glory for healing me from my hardness, when it came to family. I LOVE OUR LORD, HE IS THE ALMIGHTY. GLORY TO JESUS FOR ALL THAT HE HAS DONE FOR ME AND MY FAMILY!!!

  27. 19) therefore. It shall be when the LORD thy God hath. Given thee rest from from all thine enemies round about. In the land which the LoRD thy God giveth thee for an inheritance to possess it that thou shalt blot out the remembrance of amalek from under heaven thou shalt not forget it

  28. 17 Remember what Amalek did unto thee by the way, when ye were come forth out of Egypt;

  29. 8 How he met thee by the way, and smote the hindmost of thee, even all that were feeble behind thee, when thou wast faint and weary; and he feared not God.

19 Therefore it shall be, when the Lord thy God hath given thee rest from all thine enemies round about, in the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee for an inheritance to possess it, that thou shalt blot out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven; thou shalt not forget it.
There will be obstacles that come our way, but the battle is the lords! The enemy is defeated and he under our feet.
    Galatians6:9
9 And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.

  30. 11 When men strive together one with another, and the wife of the one draweth near for to deliver her husband out of the hand of him that smiteth him, and putteth forth her hand, and taketh him by the secrets:

12 Then thou shalt cut off her hand, thine eye shall not pity her.

  31. God is holy and those that are the children of God should be holy as well. We can’t do what we want and still receive what God has for us. Our obedience to his word n allows us to walk in his goodness.

  32. All who cheat with dishonest weights and measures are detestable to the Lord your God.
    Deuteronomy 25:16 NLT
    http://bible.com/116/deu.25.16.NLT

When we cheat and are dishonest or even tell a little white lie its all detestable in Gods eyes. Which is why we need to repent every day.

  33. 19 Therefore it shall be, when the Lord thy God hath given thee rest from all thine enemies round about, in the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee for an inheritance to possess it, that thou shalt blot out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven; thou shalt not God does a lot for us

  34. Deuteronomy 25:5 (NLT)
5 “If two brothers are living together on the same property and one of them dies without a son, his widow may not be married to anyone from outside the family. Instead, her husband’s brother should marry her and have intercourse with her to fulfill the duties of a brother-in-law.

No one will ever spit in God’s face. When we were lost and trampled on by the world. We were forgotten and used. The Lord came in and redeemed us. He said that he would be the one to take care of us. He is our kinsman redeemer.

  35. Yes, always use honest weights and measures, so that you may enjoy a long life in the land the Lord your God is giving you. All who cheat with dishonest weights and measures are detestable to the Lord your God.
    Deuteronomy 25:15-16 NLT
    http://bible.com/116/deu.25.15-16.NLT

The Lord is judge of all things. What we sow we shall reap. Sow righteousness that you will be treated with justice.

  36. 13 Thou shalt not have in thy bag divers weights, a great and a small. 14 Thou shalt not have in thine house divers measures, a great and a small. 15 But thou shalt have a perfect and just weight, a perfect and just measure shalt thou have: that thy days may be lengthened in the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee.

The word of God (Jesus) tells us that he (Jesus = Judge) is upset with anyone that would cheat or steal from another. The word of God also states he is no respecter of persons. Dear God, let us see our weights, as you see them. God Bless America, Israel, Jerusalem, and you all in Jesus name, Amen!

  37. “How he met thee by the way, and smote the hindmost of thee, even all that were feeble behind thee, when thou wast faint and weary; and he feared not God.” The children of Israel were all tired from their journey, which those in the rear were easier prey. The deceiver will always attack when we are tired and weak. Both physical and spiritual strength will require work and rest, which there must be a balance. We should therefore; serve, read the word of God, pray, and assemble together for worship to build strength. Just as we should abstain from anything that would cause a drain, or take away our strength. God help us to strengthen ourselves in you, in Jesus name.

  38. Therefore, when the Lord your God has given you rest from all your enemies in the land he is giving you as a special possession, you must destroy the Amalekites and erase their memory from under heaven. Never forget this!

Having a son was more important than it is now.

Now we don’t need a son, daughter or family to fulfill Any thing for us because now we have JESUS and through Him everything is, was and will be for ever and ever.

  40. 17 Remember what Amalek did unto thee by the way, when ye were come forth out of Egypt;

As we have been learning about how when we see Egypt in The Word, we see the affliction that Israel received from those who had enslaved them, and how it relates to the church today and the affliction we see.
With that established, we have to erase the memory of those who attacked our weak areas, when we were beginning to make it out of our afflicted States. Not that we forget they existed, but rather that we focus on what He is giving us, and where He has brought us out of. That we FORGIVE.

  41. Interesting view on dishonest business practices. For those who hold a high view of difference in sin between sins and what is called abomination, e.g. Stealing vs homosexuality, this should raise an eyebrow. Dishonest business practices are abhorred the same as homosexuality. Dishonest and corruption are very vile and a lot more subtle than other sins.

  42. 3 Forty stripes he may give him, and not exceed: lest, if he should exceed, and beat him above these with many stripes, then thy brother should seem vile unto thee.

By His stripes we were healed!

  43. “For all who do such things, all who behave unrighteously, are an abomination to the LORD your God.”(Deuteronomy‬ ‭25:16‬ ‭NKJV‬‬)

Dishonest gain always brings a curse on men’s property, families, and souls. Happy those who judge themselves, repent of and forsake their sins, and put away evil things, that they may not be condemned of the Lord.

  44. 11“If two Israelite men get into a fight and the wife of one tries to rescue her husband by grabbing the testicles of the other man, 12 you must cut off her hand. Show her no pity.

This tells me, a man defends his wife and children. Men have the responsibility of doing the fighting in battles and war. Women should not be put in position to fight for our country, especially along the front lines of war.

  45. Deuteronomy 25:4

The Ox was used to pull a threshing sledge over the grain. To muzzle him would prevent him from eating as he worked. The apostle Paul quoted this verse to defend the laborers right to his wage. 1 Cor. 9:9, 1 Tim 5:18

  46. “For all who do such things, all who behave unrighteously, are an abomination to the LORD your God.”(Deuteronomy‬ ‭25:16‬ ‭NKJV)

Dishonest gain always brings a curse on men’s property, families, and souls. Happy those who judge themselves, repent of and forsake their sins, and put away evil things, that they may not be condemned of the Lord.

  47. “Then thou shalt cut off her hand, thine eye shall not pity her.”
    ‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭25:12‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Many times I pity, sympathize, or empathize with people who have something wrong. In this case the lady is to have her hand cut off and the bible clearly states not to have pity. I need to realize that sometimes things are the way they are for a reason. This doesn’t mean to be cold hearted and not care. It just means that if you step in where you shouldn’t, you need to be willing to embrace all the consequences due for your actions.
