Deuteronomy 29

1 These are the words of the covenant, which the Lord commanded Moses to make with the children of Israel in the land of Moab, beside the covenant which he made with them in Horeb.

2 And Moses called unto all Israel, and said unto them, Ye have seen all that the Lord did before your eyes in the land of Egypt unto Pharaoh, and unto all his servants, and unto all his land;

3 The great temptations which thine eyes have seen, the signs, and those great miracles:

4 Yet the Lord hath not given you an heart to perceive, and eyes to see, and ears to hear, unto this day.

5 And I have led you forty years in the wilderness: your clothes are not waxen old upon you, and thy shoe is not waxen old upon thy foot.

6 Ye have not eaten bread, neither have ye drunk wine or strong drink: that ye might know that I am the Lord your God.

7 And when ye came unto this place, Sihon the king of Heshbon, and Og the king of Bashan, came out against us unto battle, and we smote them:

8 And we took their land, and gave it for an inheritance unto the Reubenites, and to the Gadites, and to the half tribe of Manasseh.

9 Keep therefore the words of this covenant, and do them, that ye may prosper in all that ye do.

10 Ye stand this day all of you before the Lord your God; your captains of your tribes, your elders, and your officers, with all the men of Israel,

11 Your little ones, your wives, and thy stranger that is in thy camp, from the hewer of thy wood unto the drawer of thy water:

12 That thou shouldest enter into covenant with the Lord thy God, and into his oath, which the Lord thy God maketh with thee this day:

13 That he may establish thee to day for a people unto himself, and that he may be unto thee a God, as he hath said unto thee, and as he hath sworn unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.

14 Neither with you only do I make this covenant and this oath;

15 But with him that standeth here with us this day before the Lord our God, and also with him that is not here with us this day:

16 (For ye know how we have dwelt in the land of Egypt; and how we came through the nations which ye passed by;

17 And ye have seen their abominations, and their idols, wood and stone, silver and gold, which were among them:)

18 Lest there should be among you man, or woman, or family, or tribe, whose heart turneth away this day from the Lord our God, to go and serve the gods of these nations; lest there should be among you a root that beareth gall and wormwood;

19 And it come to pass, when he heareth the words of this curse, that he bless himself in his heart, saying, I shall have peace, though I walk in the imagination of mine heart, to add drunkenness to thirst:

20 The Lord will not spare him, but then the anger of the Lord and his jealousy shall smoke against that man, and all the curses that are written in this book shall lie upon him, and the Lord shall blot out his name from under heaven.

21 And the Lord shall separate him unto evil out of all the tribes of Israel, according to all the curses of the covenant that are written in this book of the law:

22 So that the generation to come of your children that shall rise up after you, and the stranger that shall come from a far land, shall say, when they see the plagues of that land, and the sicknesses which the Lord hath laid upon it;

23 And that the whole land thereof is brimstone, and salt, and burning, that it is not sown, nor beareth, nor any grass groweth therein, like the overthrow of Sodom, and Gomorrah, Admah, and Zeboim, which the Lord overthrew in his anger, and in his wrath:

24 Even all nations shall say, Wherefore hath the Lord done thus unto this land? what meaneth the heat of this great anger?

25 Then men shall say, Because they have forsaken the covenant of the Lord God of their fathers, which he made with them when he brought them forth out of the land of Egypt:

26 For they went and served other gods, and worshipped them, gods whom they knew not, and whom he had not given unto them:

27 And the anger of the Lord was kindled against this land, to bring upon it all the curses that are written in this book:

28 And the Lord rooted them out of their land in anger, and in wrath, and in great indignation, and cast them into another land, as it is this day.

29 The secret things belong unto the Lord our God: but those things which are revealed belong unto us and to our children for ever, that we may do all the words of this law.

  1. 29. Secret things belong to the LORD our God, but those that are revealed belong to us and our descendants forever, so that we might obey all the words of this law. NET

    There are many things that we will never know this side of Glory, but the laws and promises that He has already given us are ours to obey and to be blessed by.

    Every promise in the book is mine
    Every chapter, every verse and every line
    All are blessings of his love divine
    Every promise in the book is mine

  2. 29 The secret things belong unto the Lord our God: but those things which are revealed belong unto us and to our children for ever, that we may do all the words of this law.

  3. Verse 9 AMP “So keep the words of this covenant and obey them, so that you may prosper and be successful in everything that you do.” Same verse CEV “Israel, the Lord has made an agreement with you, and if you keep your part, you will be successful in everything you do. We must do our part, as the Lord cannot bless bad choices!

    • i tota agree yes every thing we do we should do in the name of the lord we should also pray to when we do to make sure we are going in his way

  4. 3 The great temptations which thine eyes have seen, the signs, and those great miracles:

    4 Yet the Lord hath not given you an heart to perceive, and eyes to see, and ears to hear, unto this day.

    We are such blessed people to have the opportunity to serve the Lord in this day and hour. We have come through many test and trials as a church body, seen many wonders and miracles, and experienced many victories. Yet there have been times that our eyes have been blinded and our hearts could not conceive the thing of the Lord because we were not given a spirit of revelation about the situation. We walked through it blindly not knowing it’s purpose or it’s end.

    This is where faith and trust comes into our lives. Right now we are facing the largest giant we have ever faced financially …… we sat down and counted the cost before we began construction, and felt as a body we had enough to finish strong. However, we were depending upon men to complete the project. Now we stand almost at the finish line and we must depend on God. Our heart, eyes and ears are open to the Lord for direction. He knows our end from the beginning but now we must trust Him to provide the resources for completion.

    We draw from the past experiences of what He has done, how He brought us through tests and trials. My faith today stands in the Lord …… He will provide.

  5. 25 Then men shall say, Because they have forsaken the covenant of the Lord God of their fathers, which he made with them when he brought them forth out of the land of Egypt:

    The kindling of Gods wrath has two extremes. The first is expressed in this chapter as fire and brim stone, complete and utter destruction. Your memory being completely erased from the land, because that is how much God hates sin.

    The other extreme is repentance. Even if everything the Lord has told us not to do is done and we are sentenced to be destroyed, a true and heart felt repentance, crying out to God, humbling ourselves before His presence and turning from our ways, would change the heart of God.

    That’s is why He is so amazing, and awesome and great. He is not like man in any way, but He is perfect in all His ways and pours over us His love. We will never be able to perceive everything that He is. Thank you Jesus!

  6. 9 Keep therefore the words of this covenant, and do them, that ye may prosper in all that ye do.

    10 Ye stand this day all of you before the Lord your God; your captains of your tribes, your elders, and your officers, with all the men of Israel,

    13 That he may establish thee to day for a people unto himself, and that he may be unto thee a God, as he hath said unto thee, and as he hath sworn unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.

    God is wanting Obedience, Relationship. He is My GOD, my LORD, My LIFE. He’s not asking anything hard from me, just put HIM and only HIM FIRST IN MY LIFE! Don’t break the rules and SUBMIT, And my life won’t be cursed but BLESSED!

  7. 15 I am making this covenant both with you who stand here today in the presence of the LORD our God, and also with the future generations who are not standing here today.

    This goes to show, God is the past, present and the future. We as parents have to lead and guide our children in the ways of the Lord. Our children have to be prepared to face how our country is changing. We have have to show them to be obedient, be respectful, honest, how to pray and worship. God wants future generations to continue to worship him!

  8. REVELATION TO GROW

    2 And Moses called unto all Israel, and said unto them, Ye have seen all that the Lord did before your eyes in the land of Egypt unto Pharaoh, and unto all his servants, and unto all his land;
    3 The great temptations which thine eyes have seen, the signs, and those great miracles:

    6 Ye have not eaten bread, neither have ye drunk wine or strong drink: that ye might know that I am the Lord your God.

    Worry and fear are not attributes of FAITH in GOD. Frequently people find themselves fretting over what to do about necessities. We have Israel as an example of what to do, how to do it and occasionally how not to do it. LIFE is filled with challenges and opportunities. We occasionally find ourselves facing situations that are beyond our control or out of our reach, beyond our abilities, yet GOD has called us to them to see how we will respond. Moses is reminding Israel in this passage of GOD has cared for them when they did not have the resources to care for themselves.

    We should take notice of how the LORD took care of Israel during their journey. As Moses testifies that they did not perceive, see or hear the great challenges that they faced during their journey. Indicating that GOD is protecting us from perceiving, seeing and hearing every trial and blessing.

    KEEP the FAITH and GROW.

    iPraise
    iPray

  9. 12 That thou shouldest enter into covenant with the Lord thy God, and into his oath, which the Lord thy God maketh with thee this day:
    13 That he may establish thee to day for a people unto himself, and that he may be unto thee a God, as he hath said unto thee, and as he hath sworn unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.

    This covenant is being clearly defined before them so that they know exactly what God expects of them. Those whose hearts are not with their God, but with the gods of the people around them will be found out. We cannot serve God and this world. It’s’ one or the other. As Joshua said: Choose you this day who you will serve!

  10. “Therefore, obey the terms of this covenant so that you will prosper in everything you do. All of you—tribal leaders, elders, officers, all the men of Israel—are standing today in the presence of the LORD your God. Your little ones and your wives are with you, as well as the foreigners living among you who chop your wood and carry your water. You are standing here today to enter into the covenant of the LORD your God. The LORD is making this covenant, including the curses. By entering into the covenant today, he will establish you as his people and confirm that he is your God, just as he promised you and as he swore to your ancestors Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. (‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭29‬:‭9-13‬ NLT)

    My choices today will have an effect on generations to come. As you see our nation today, we see the effects of the choices of the generations before us.The Lord desires true relationship with his children, what will you choose today? Your ways of living? Or obedience to the word of God? We choose whether to be blessed or cursed, I choose to be blessed! I Must not ever forget where the Lord has brought me out of!! It was a covenant relationship that the Lord desired to have with me as he died on Calvary!

  11. 9 “Therefore, obey the terms of this covenant so that you will prosper in everything you do. (NLT)

    Obedience = blessings & prosperity!

  12. Deuteronomy 29:23-25 (NLT)
    23 They will exclaim, ‘The whole land is devastated by sulfur and salt. It is a wasteland with nothing planted and nothing growing, not even a blade of grass. It is like the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah, Admah and Zeboiim, which the Lord destroyed in his intense anger.’
    24 “And all the surrounding nations will ask, ‘Why has the Lord done this to this land? Why was he so angry?’
    25 “And the answer will be, ‘This happened because the people of the land abandoned the covenant that the Lord, the God of their ancestors, made with them when he brought them out of the land of Egypt.

    Our disobedience to God’s word is selfish and spells destruction not just for us but also for the land. If we truly love souls and want to see them saved then we will live lives of obedience to God. The land, the innocent unsuspecting people could be destroyed if the people of God do not live for him in righteousness.

  13. Moses third and last sermon is found in these two chapters .He has described the nature of covenant relationship with God carefully. Now this generation’s must make a decision .Moses reminds his people of what God has done . A decision to accept the covenant will confirm this generation’s as the.people the true God. But commitment to God must be irrevocable or judgment will will surely follow.

  14. iLove to Grow in the Word

    20 The Lord will not spare him, but then the anger of the Lord and his jealousy shall smoke against that man, and all the curses that are written in this book shall lie upon him, and the Lord shall blot out his name from under heaven.

    Pride would cause folks to think they are getting away with sin. Pride is a blinder upon the eyes of those deceived by it. As long as we stay humble, pride is kept in check. Let us remember that through Jesus we can remain humble and accomplish our goals in His Presence.

  15. Deut. 29:10-15 (NLT)
    10) All of you – tribal leaders, elders, officers, all the men of Israel – are standing today in the presence of the LORD your God.
    11) Your little ones and your wives are with you, as well as the foreigners living among you who chop your wood and carry your water.
    12) You are standing here today to enter into the covenant, including the curses.
    13) By entering into the covenant today, he will establish you as his people and confirm that he is your God, just as he promised you and as he swore to your ancestors Abraham, Issac, and Jacob.
    14) But you are not the only ones with whom I am making this covenant with its curses.
    15) I am making this covenant both with you who stand here today in the presence of the LORD your God, as also with the future generations who are not standing here today.

  16. 1 These are the words of the covenant, which the Lord commanded Moses to make with the children of Israel in the land of Moab, beside the covenant which he made with them in Horeb.

    God’s promises are true and will forever hold the test of time.

  17. “And it come to pass, when he heareth the words of this curse, that he bless himself in his heart, saying, I shall have peace, though I walk in the imagination of mine heart, to add drunkenness to thirst”. They witnessed many things, so that they would reverence God (Jesus) and his ways. One is very unwise if one thinks they can pick and choose what to obey or not obey, or do simply as one wants; especially if one knows the truth. Dear God, help us with obedience to you. God Bless America, Israel, Jerusalem, and you all in Jesus name, Amen!

  18. “Yet the Lord hath not given you an heart to perceive, and eyes to see, and ears to hear, unto this day.” The Lord made it possible for them to see, yet not see. The physical eye may not always see what the spiritual eye does. If the Lord allows sight of something, it is often times so that we will pray. God help us see what matters to you, in Jesus name.

  19. 15 I am making this covenant both with you who stand here today in the presence of the LORD our God, and also with the future generations who are not standing here today.
    God is the God of yesterday today and forever. He keeps his promises and those promises endure from generation to generation. If God is never promised you anything you can take it to the bank! He will fulfill that which he has promised.

  20. 5 And I have led you forty years in the wilderness: your clothes are not waxen old upon you, and thy shoe is not waxen old upon thy foot.

    Yes God is Lord and Ruler of all things. It all belongs to him. He even has control of the material things you posses. He can keep a shoe from getting old and clothes fresh as new. All things are made that he may have honor and glory and praise. What a Mighty God, Jesus, we serve!

    And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist.

  21. 29

    1 These are the words of the covenant, which the Lord commanded Moses to make with the children of Israel in the land of Moab, beside the covenant which he made with them in Horeb.

    2 And Moses called unto all Israel, and said unto them, Ye have seen all that the Lord did before your eyes in the land of Egypt unto Pharaoh, and unto all his servants, and unto all his land;

    3 The great temptations which thine eyes have seen, the signs, and those great miracles:

    4 Yet the Lord hath not given you an heart to perceive, and eyes to see, and ears to hear, unto this day.
    We may not fully understand all what God does. I pray that even though we can see what the future holds that we hold on to God and know he able. God has brought us a mighty long way! Hallelujah! He didn’t bring me this far to leave me.

  22. The wild wilderness
    Oftentimes we find ourselves in a uncomfortable situation we run when find it uncoveant. Our faith is not in God but in the things we want and the flesh realm. Oftentimes we find ourselves in this feeling of being in a wilderness but we don’t know the true way to develop trust in the impossible. For example many times we put our trust in the things of this world that we dont put trust in God. Remember you may be going through a season of feeling like your in a wilderness but if you keep doing the work God has called you to do and continue giving God will reward you.

  23. We have to do our part and God will do his. Everything that is revealed is our responsibility. God will take care of the things behind the scenes. Let’s get 100% participation for IFT.

  24. “Therefore keep the words of this covenant, and do them, that you may prosper in all that you do.”(Deuteronomy‬ ‭29:9‬ ‭NKJV‬‬)

    Keep therefore the words of this covenant, and do them,…. To do which they were laid under great obligations, through the goodness of God to them, in giving them victory over the two kings, and delivering their countries into their hands, as well as by all the favours bestowed on them in the wilderness

  25. 6 Ye have not eaten bread, neither have ye drunk wine or strong drink: that ye might know that I am the Lord your God.

  26. “The Lord our God has secrets known to no one. We are not accountable for them, but we and our children are accountable forever for all that he has revealed to us, so that we may obey all the terms of these instructions.
    Deuteronomy 29:29 NLT
    http://bible.com/116/deu.29.29.NLT

    The revelations HE has revealed to us…… And the terms of these instructions are not to be played with!
    My GOD my GOD, HE is so good!!! Chills up and down my spine!!!

  27. God created us with the eyes to see and ears to hear but when He does a miraculous work in our lives like the Israelites it’s possible to not catch it. It could be we werent focused and plugged into the move of God or it wasn’t the Lord’s timing yet. When the Lord makes himself known among the nations it’s for every one to reverence. He wants to make himself known in our lives and to others. Question is are we ready for the revelation and work he wants to do?

  28. 25. Then men shall say, Because they have forsaken the covenant of the LORD God of their fathers, which he made with them when he brought them forth out of the land of E’-gypt: 26. For they went and served other gods, and worshipped them, gods whom they knew not, and whom he had not given unto them: 27. And the anger of the LORD was kindled against this land, to bring upon it all the curses that are written in this book: Thank you LORD for saving me !!!!

  29. “And I have led you forty years in the wilderness: your clothes are not waxen old upon you, and thy shoe is not waxen old upon thy foot. Ye have not eaten bread, neither have ye drunk wine or strong drink: that ye might know that I am the Lord your God.”
    ‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭29:5-6‬ ‭KJV‬‬

  30. 9. Therefore keep the words of this covenant, and do them, that you may prosper in all that you do. NKJV Obey His covenant !!!!
