Deuteronomy 34

1 And Moses went up from the plains of Moab unto the mountain of Nebo, to the top of Pisgah, that is over against Jericho. And the Lord shewed him all the land of Gilead, unto Dan,

2 And all Naphtali, and the land of Ephraim, and Manasseh, and all the land of Judah, unto the utmost sea,

3 And the south, and the plain of the valley of Jericho, the city of palm trees, unto Zoar.

4 And the Lord said unto him, This is the land which I sware unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, saying, I will give it unto thy seed: I have caused thee to see it with thine eyes, but thou shalt not go over thither.

5 So Moses the servant of the Lord died there in the land of Moab, according to the word of the Lord.

6 And he buried him in a valley in the land of Moab, over against Bethpeor: but no man knoweth of his sepulchre unto this day.

7 And Moses was an hundred and twenty years old when he died: his eye was not dim, nor his natural force abated.

8 And the children of Israel wept for Moses in the plains of Moab thirty days: so the days of weeping and mourning for Moses were ended.

9 And Joshua the son of Nun was full of the spirit of wisdom; for Moses had laid his hands upon him: and the children of Israel hearkened unto him, and did as the Lord commanded Moses.

10 And there arose not a prophet since in Israel like unto Moses, whom the Lord knew face to face,

11 In all the signs and the wonders, which the Lord sent him to do in the land of Egypt to Pharaoh, and to all his servants, and to all his land,

12 And in all that mighty hand, and in all the great terror which Moses shewed in the sight of all Israel.

  1. Wow, to be 120 years old and still have your eyesight sharp and walk with a spring in your step! Lord help us as we focus our eyes on you and walk in your ways. Psalm 28:7 AMP says “The Lord is my strength and my [impenetrable] shield; My heart trusts [with unwavering confidence] in Him, and I am helped; Therefore my heart greatly rejoices, And with my song I shall thank Him and praise Him.”

  2. High Prices

We all make mistakes some are Larger than others; buy none the less they are ALL MISTAKES. Moses made a mistake by stricking stone for water, YES he got water for the people need it, BUT GOD never told him to strike it. I use this a lot as an example to students that say: if it gives you the same result why do I have to use your procedure. Moses missed the big picture, IT IS FULL SUBMISSION AND OBEDIENCE!!!! Because of it God took him as high as he could, showed him the great land they are about to step in but all he gets is to see it for his punishment is he will not put his feet on it. BIG PRICE TO PAY FOR DOING THINGS YOUR WAY!!!’
Moses dies at 112 but he had it all together! He was the prime picture for a 112,’he could see clearly (so he saw the price at his finger tips). His natural strength fresh as intense as ever (but he was not allowed to take the Price)

You can be obedient all your life but mess up and it can cause DEATH!!! Death of a relationship, death of a ministry, death to your flesh and soul. In the Army they taught us to always keep your eyes on the target, it may move, change, but it was always THE TARGET. God tells us that He Is The Only Way, so let’s focus on Him while working on ONE COMMOND MISSION

  3. 9 And Joshua the son of Nun was full of the spirit of wisdom; for Moses had laid his hands upon him: and the children of Israel hearkened unto him, and did as the Lord commanded Moses.

I pray as we go into this children’s revival that our children grow in wisdom and stature and in favor with GOD and man! Let them be filled with the Spirit and a sense of preparedness to lead their friends and loved ones toward Christ. As we lay hands upon each of these children let us impart a blessing to them that will hold true and nourish that seed in turn producing much good spiritual fruit. In Jesus name.

  4. Joshua was ready to pick up where Moses left off. Moses imparted into Joshua that same wisdom and desire he had to do the work of the Lord. When we are faithful in the few things God has given us, he will bless us with many. Don’t get discouraged if things don’t look the way they should. God has a plan in store for and if we would just keep the faith, we can receive what God has.

  5. 5 So Moses the servant of the Lord died there in the land of Moab, according to the word of the Lord.

Moses was a good servant of GOD, but it does not mean you can’t be a bad example for the others watching you.
It doesn’t mean that GOD will not make an example out of you either . Look at Moses he died because he disobeyed.

  6. 7. Moses was 120 years old when he died, yet his eyesight was clear, and he was as strong as ever. NLT

    God keeps His promises.
God promised Moses that He would allow him to see the promised land, so no matter how old Moses got, his eyesight couldn’t fail him until it came to pass.

Whatever God has promised you, if you stay obedient to Him, it will happen.

  7. “The heart of the righteous studieth to answer: but the mouth of the wicked poureth out evil things.”
    ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭15:28‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Let’s be careful to consider advice we give. Sometimes what I want to say in a prticular situation is not what God would have me say. Maybe I would like to explain what poor decision someone is engaged in but with prayer and and an open heart to the urgings of the Lord the word will be more palatable.

  8. 10 And there arose not a prophet since in Israel like unto Moses, whom the Lord knew face to face,

When our time is up here on earth, what will the story be, what will the comments be, what will our current way of life say about us later on when it’s all said and done?

Face to face we see each other, but will we see GOD face to face or will we see a very small piece or a glimpse of his Glory? Or…….. Or what?
I want to build on a lasting relationship!!! It is everlasting!!! Let’s not waste time!!! I love you DADDY!!!

  9. 9 And Joshua the son of Nun was full of the spirit of wisdom; for Moses had laid his hands upon him: and the children of Israel hearkened unto him, and did as the Lord commanded Moses.
10 And there arose not a prophet since in Israel like unto Moses, whom the Lord knew face to face

Wow. What a walk with God. To have such a testament to your walk with God. This just goes to show how deep God is. But get ready church our time is at hand. We will do greater signs and wonders. God is fighting for us.

  10. Moses heritage
    34:10-12
No epitaph can sum up the significance of Moses in sacred history . But this verse sums up the reverence with which he is still viewed by.Jew’s and Christian alike
    God’s great men deserve honoring.
How will we be remembered.at life’s end.

  11. 7 And Moses was an hundred and twenty years old when he died: his eye was not dim, nor his natural force abated.

  12. iLove to Grow in the Word

Deuteronomy 34:6 NLT The LORD buried him in a valley near Beth-peor in Moab, but to this day no one knows the exact place.

Wow, this funeral was cheap! No need to pay tens of thousands of dollars on a funeral when God himself does it. There appears, however, to be a little fight as well over the body of Moses when he died. Apparently, the devil showed up after Moses died trying to take possession of his body because of his former disobedience, but Michael the Archangel was there to stop him.

Jude 1:9 KJV Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, The Lord rebuke thee.

  13. “Joshua, the son of Nun, was filled with wisdom. That’s because Moses had placed his hands on him. So the Israelites listened to Joshua. They did what the Lord had commanded Moses.”
    ‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭34:9‬ ‭NIRV‬‬

Thankful for the knowledge of the passing down of a mantle. Receiving a mantle is intentional. The predecessor laid his hand on him and when he passed from this life, that’s when the mantle was given to the successor.

  14. 9 Now Joshua son of Nun was full of the spirit of wisdom, for Moses had laid his hands on him. So the people of Israel obeyed him, doing just as the Lord had commanded Moses. (NLT)

What an anointing to take on! I’m reminded of the second day at NTYC. Both sermons preached presented the youth various examples in the Bible and even current day examples of youth just like them, of how they have the option to choose between God’s anointing or things of this world. I believe those services were a pivoting point for ISM and our students are choosing to do the work of God. The next generation is rising up and it’s a beautiful sight!

  15. 4 And the Lord said unto him, This is the land which I sware unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, saying, I will give it unto thy seed: I have caused thee to see it with thine eyes, but thou shalt not go over thither.

  16. THE SPIRIT OF WISDOM

9 And Joshua the son of Nun was full of the spirit of wisdom; for Moses had laid his hands upon him: and the children of Israel hearkened unto him, and did as the Lord commanded Moses.

I will not consider this a gift of the Spirit of GOD because the word spirit seems to indicate the human spirit not the Holy Spirit of GOD which was gifted to man on the day of Pentecost

Joshua was full of the spirit of wisdom. Meaning that he was prayerful, careful and thoughtful in his decisions. The WORD of GOD indicates that Joshua was well respected as a Leader by the people. He was also chosen by his predecessor Moses to be the Leader.

Teaching us “Leaders should be respected by our Predecessors and Peers.”

My prayer today is that GOD fill us with the spirit of wisdom and that we would put away dumb decisions and costly choices. Make wise decisions and build respect from those around us.

  17. 1 And Moses went up from the plains of Moab unto the mountain of Nebo, to the top of Pisgah, that is over against Jericho.

How sad it must have been for Moses to go through all he went through with Pharaoh and the children of Israel, going in circles with them for 40 years because of their unbelief and then be able to see the promise land, but not be able to enter it.

We must make our calling and election sure. It would be horrible to serve the Lord, or what we think is serving the Lord, and then get to judgement day and realized somewhere along the way, we missed it and have been disobedient.

    Lord help us all!

  18. Deut. 7 (NLT)
“Moses was 120 years old when he died, yet his eyesight was clear, and he was strong as ever.”

Moses was 120 yrs. old and strong as ever when he climbed to the top of Pisgah and saw with clear eyes the Promised Land.

God Is So Good! If God gave you a Promise, no matter how long it may take, God will keep His Promise to you, and you will see it come to pass.

  19. Deuteronomy 34:10
talks about the Lord knowing Moses face to face with him.

The day will come when we know Jesus face to face for the first time. Grow with Jesus Amen

  20. 4 Then the LORD said to Moses, “This is the land I promised on oath to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob when I said, ‘I will give it to your descendants.’ I have now allowed you to see it with your own eyes, but you will not enter the land.”

How disappointed and sad Moses must have felt not being able to enter into the promise land. I’m sure Moses knew he would be punished in some manner for being rebellious, but probably never thought it would come down to this. When we disobey, we expect punishment, but the form of punishment will surprise you and be something you least expect. As parents we too should set the rules, and enforce some type of punishment to our children, because God will deal with us adults.

  21. 9 And Joshua the son of Nun was full of the spirit of wisdom; for Moses had laid his hands upon him: and the children of Israel hearkened unto him, and did as the Lord commanded Moses.

10 And there arose not a prophet since in Israel like unto Moses, whom the Lord knew face to face,
the time has come for Joshua to be prepared to step up and lead the children of Israel. Moses was a great man but thankfully he imparted to Joshua what he needed in order to lead the people of God. We As Leaders must consistently work to raise up and develop other men and women that will assist us in fulfilling the work and will of God. No Ministry is truly a success without a successor. Moses did a great job preparing Joshua to lead God’s people.

  22. “Now Joshua son of Nun was filled with the spirit of wisdom because Moses had laid his hands on him. So the Israelites listened to him and did what the Lord had commanded Moses.”
    ‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭34:9‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Lord I pray that you would fill us with a spirit of wisdom, that we would follow you, and you would guide us to make the right decisions in everything.

  23. 9 now Joshua son of nun was full of the spirit of wisdom for moses had laid his hands on him so the people of Israel obeyed him doing just as the LORD had commmanded moses

Moses prayed for Joshua befor leting him go

  24. Moses was show the promise land, but was not allowed to enter in it. But, there was no one that knew the Lord face to face like he did. What an honor he had with the Lord. Could you amagine what an awesome experience that would be. Remember Jesus, is a friend that sticks closer than a brother. But, wouldn’t it be awesome to see him face to face?

    “God willing…face to face!”………….,

10 And there arose not a prophet since in Israel like unto Moses, whom the Lord knew face to face,

  25. Then the Lord said to Moses, “This is the land I promised on oath to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob when I said, ‘I will give it to your descendants.’ I have now allowed you to see it with your own eyes, but you will not enter the land.”
    Deuteronomy 34:4 NLT
    http://bible.com/116/deu.34.4.NLT

Our rebellious acts have consequences and we dont know what the Lord will not allow us to see because of our disobediance.

  26. Deuteronomy 34:9 (Message)
9 Joshua son of Nun was filled with the spirit of wisdom because Moses had laid his hands on him. The People of Israel listened obediently to him and did the same as when God had commanded Moses.

Joshua was filled with the spirit of wisdom. It wasn’t because of his actions. It wasn’t because of his prowess, skill, ability, or talent. Joshua received such an amazing blessing because Moses laid his hands on him. Why? Because Joshua was where he needed to be when the time came for Moses to lay his hands on him.

God’s timing and tuning are crucial. Yet the place for selection is in submission. Elisha was working the field for his Father. David was looking after his dad’s sheep. Gideon was submitting to his tribe by trying to grow food. Jesus was obedient to his mother.

Timing and tuning are necessary but submission is the platform for spiritual advancement.

  27. 7 And Moses was an hundred and twenty years old when he died: his eye was not dim, nor his natural force abated.

8 And the children of Israel wept for Moses in the plains of Moab thirty days: so the days of weeping and mourning for Moses were ended.

  28. 10 And there arose not a prophet since in Israel like unto Moses, whom the Lord knew face to face,

On social media there is the saying “relationship goals” when you see a couple that you would like to mirror in your future relationship.

My heart and souls deepest desire is to have this close of a relationship with God. To know Him face to face and to be as David a women after His own heart.

  29. Now Joshua son of Nun was full of the spirit of wisdom, for Moses had laid his hands on him. So the people of Israel obeyed him, doing just as the Lord had commanded Moses.
    Deuteronomy 34:9 NLT
    http://bible.com/116/deu.34.9.NLT

    In psalms we find this

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; A good understanding have all those who do His commandments. His praise endures forever.
    Psalms 111:10 NKJV
    http://bible.com/114/psa.111.10.NKJV

Moses probably shared with Joshua the things he learned from time. I am reminded of when Joshua lingered in the after he followed the man of God. He wanted to be in the presence of God. Now he probably learned that and how to fear respect and honor God. My thought is that we tend to follow those that inspire us and influence. Moses lived a life that was an example for. And more than a prayer he did for Joshua he offered a lifetime of example. Joshua was full of the spirit of wisdom, the reverencing respect and honor he probably he witnessed.

  30. The Greatness of Moses
Deuteronomy 34:10 And there arose not a prophet since in Israel like unto Moses, whom the Lord knew face to face,

Exodus 33:11 Face to Face with the Lord
And the Lord spake unto Moses face to face, as a man speaketh unto his friend. And he turned again into the camp: but his servant Joshua, the son of Nun, a young man, departed not out of the tabernacle.

WOW, speak face to face with the Lord!

  31. “And there arose not a prophet since in Israel like unto Moses, whom the Lord knew face to face”. The word of God (Jesus) identified, only Moses. Although there have been others, there was only one that God (Creator) spoke directly with. Dear God, help us become humble and faithful like Moses so that we may hear, and readily do as you would have us do. God Bless America, Israel, Jerusalem, and you all in Jesus name, Amen!

  32. “And he buried him in a valley in the land of Moab, over against Bethpeor: but no man knoweth of his sepulchre unto this day.” The Lord hid the burial place of Moses for a reason. For it is the Lord that conceals and reveals, as he so chooses. God help us learn to seek you first in all things, in Jesus name.

  33. 4And the LORD said unto him, This is the land which I sware unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, saying, I will give it unto thy seed: I have caused thee to see it with thine eyes, but thou shalt not go over thither.

The Lord is faithful to do just as he said. Thank you Jesus for saving me from the cars of this world, from my own foolish decisions from oureslvrs

  34. 9 And Joshua the son of Nun was full of the spirit of wisdom; for Moses had laid his hands upon him: and the children of Israel hearkened unto him, and did as the Lord commanded Moses.

Joshua earned respect from the Israelite’s because they knew Moses had passed on his spirit of wisdom to him. God is in control Moses death affected a lot of people mourned for him 30 days.

  35. 4 And the Lord said unto him, This is the land which I sware unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, saying, I will give it unto thy seed: I have caused thee to see it with thine eyes, but thou shalt not go over thither.

5 So Moses the servant of the Lord died there in the land of Moab, according to the word of the Lord.

So even though I’m faithful to God, one slip and I will never see the promise land. This is how serious he is about us (me). I am by no means perfect, that is why I have to be careful about how I walk daily. God knows every move, sound, and breath that I take. I don’t want to miss the promise land because of one thing that I said or did. I love reading God’s word and getting a stronger understanding of it. Thank you Jesus….. Amen

  36. 4 And the Lord said unto him, This is the land which I sware unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, saying, I will give it unto thy seed: I have caused thee to see it with thine eyes, but thou shalt not go over thither.

  37. 7. Moses was 120 years old when he died, yet his eyesight was clear, and he was as strong as ever. 8. The people of Israel mourned for Moses on the plains of Moab for thirty days, until the customary period of mourning was over. NLT I wish we could have good eyesight and be as strong as we age !!!!
