Joshua 12

1 Now these are the kings of the land, which the children of Israel smote, and possessed their land on the other side Jordan toward the rising of the sun, from the river Arnon unto mount Hermon, and all the plain on the east:

2 Sihon king of the Amorites, who dwelt in Heshbon, and ruled from Aroer, which is upon the bank of the river Arnon, and from the middle of the river, and from half Gilead, even unto the river Jabbok, which is the border of the children of Ammon;

3 And from the plain to the sea of Chinneroth on the east, and unto the sea of the plain, even the salt sea on the east, the way to Bethjeshimoth; and from the south, under Ashdothpisgah:

4 And the coast of Og king of Bashan, which was of the remnant of the giants, that dwelt at Ashtaroth and at Edrei,

5 And reigned in mount Hermon, and in Salcah, and in all Bashan, unto the border of the Geshurites and the Maachathites, and half Gilead, the border of Sihon king of Heshbon.

6 Them did Moses the servant of the Lord and the children of Israel smite: and Moses the servant of the Lord gave it for a possession unto the Reubenites, and the Gadites, and the half tribe of Manasseh.

7 And these are the kings of the country which Joshua and the children of Israel smote on this side Jordan on the west, from Baalgad in the valley of Lebanon even unto the mount Halak, that goeth up to Seir; which Joshua gave unto the tribes of Israel for a possession according to their divisions;

8 In the mountains, and in the valleys, and in the plains, and in the springs, and in the wilderness, and in the south country; the Hittites, the Amorites, and the Canaanites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites:

9 The king of Jericho, one; the king of Ai, which is beside Bethel, one;

10 The king of Jerusalem, one; the king of Hebron, one;

11 The king of Jarmuth, one; the king of Lachish, one;

12 The king of Eglon, one; the king of Gezer, one;

13 The king of Debir, one; the king of Geder, one;

14 The king of Hormah, one; the king of Arad, one;

15 The king of Libnah, one; the king of Adullam, one;

16 The king of Makkedah, one; the king of Bethel, one;

17 The king of Tappuah, one; the king of Hepher, one;

18 The king of Aphek, one; the king of Lasharon, one;

19 The king of Madon, one; the king of Hazor, one;

20 The king of Shimronmeron, one; the king of Achshaph, one;

21 The king of Taanach, one; the king of Megiddo, one;

22 The king of Kedesh, one; the king of Jokneam of Carmel, one;

23 The king of Dor in the coast of Dor, one; the king of the nations of Gilgal, one;

24 The king of Tirzah, one: all the kings thirty and one.

  1. these are the kings of the land, which the children of Israel smote, and possessed their land on the other side Jordan toward the rising of the sun, from the river Arnon unto mount Hermon, and all the plain on the east:

    Since I was a small child he taught me that there were consequences to all our actions. He use to say with every action there will always be a reaction, then I found out it was a physics lesson. I say all this to explain to parents that this is one of the most important lessons you can teach your child. If Joshua would of disobeyed God and didn’t destroy the first king and his kingdom completely; do you think this chan reaction of victory would of had happened??? Most likely
    NO. Because if Joshua would of left one alive and free he would of run and warn the next. This is why it is imperative that we OBEY HIS WORD and destroy our sins and bad habits all at once with The Baptism in Jesus Name. Make better choices and think the consequense of each of them. Lord help us be obedient to your word, respect Our parents, make good choices aware of consequence and above all TRUST IN YOU AND YOUR PLAN AND PURPOSE IN OUR LIVES. IN JESUS NAME AMEN

  3. iLove to Grow in the Word

    7The following is a list of the kings that Joshua and the Israelite armies defeated on the west side of the Jordan…

    Wow, Joshua conquered the enemy in the mighty name of the God of Israel. At this time, Joshua was over 80 years old and was still going strong. We should not let age be the reason we retire early in life from the spiritual battle. If God be for us, who can be against us

  4. This chapter talks about “The Defeated Kings” as its captioned in the MSG version. In the NIV version you can see how first it was “The first king that Moses and the Israelites…” in verse 2 and then in verse 4 “Next, Moses and the Israelites defeated…” and then it was “Later, Joshua and the Israelites defeated…” in verses 7-8. The Israelites never did it alone. Moses never did it alone. Joshua never did it alone either; but, they worked together (UNITY). Let us (POFW) work together with our Leaders (Pastors) and claim our V I C T O R Y in Jesus name.

  5. God expects us to fight for our promise. Today we do not fight in the physical as much as we must stay in the Word and prayer and not waiver in our faith.

  6. 6 Them did Moses the servant of the Lord and the children of Israel smite: and Moses the servant of the Lord gave it for a possession unto the Reubenites, and the Gadites, and the half tribe of Manasseh.

    7 And these are the kings of the country which Joshua and the children of Israel smote on this side Jordan on the west, from Baalgad in the valley of Lebanon even unto the mount Halak, that goeth up to Seir; which Joshua gave unto the tribes of Israel for a possession according to their divisions;

    8 In the mountains, and in the valleys, and in the plains, and in the springs, and in the wilderness, and in the south country; the Hittites, the Amorites, and the Canaanites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites:

  7. 24The king of Tirzah. In all, thirty-one kings were defeated.

    So many kings were conquered. This was history in the making. There can’t be no doubt that these conquests occurred. If only 1-2 kings were conquered, historians would have doubt, but with so many kings falling, there is no doubt.

  8. GROW IN VICTORY

    1 Now these are the kings of the land, which the children of Israel smote, and possessed their land on the other side Jordan toward the rising of the sun, from the river Arnon unto mount Hermon, and all the plain on the east:

    The VICTORIES are limitless in the promise land. We will encounter battles that we have never faced. However the same GOD (JESUS) is with us that was with the children of Israel as they smote all the kings when they possessed their land.

    We will be VICTORIOUS when we possess our land.

  9. We have the victory!!! Mighty in battle over the enemy!!! Hallelujah!!! Sometimes I worry about certain things when i tell my Lord, you are in control and just take over my life. I can’t do nothing without him!!! He is my everything!! I have everything I need just like his Word says…Why worry if he feeds the birds. He will clothe me and give me what I need!!! Jesus is so amazing…the closer I get to Him the more I’m souled out!!!! There are so many people in my life trying to bring up down and tell us negative things but MY GOD IS MIGHTY AND BIGGER than any problem that I may have!!! TRUST, BELIEVE, OBEY,

  10. Victory in Jesus! If we are obedient and unified, the victories God will hand us like the Isrealites will be more than we can even expect. It’ll really be a WOW time when we unify and obey!

  11. 7 And these are the kings of the country which Joshua and the children of Israel smote on this side Jordan on the west, from Baalgad in the valley of Lebanon even unto the mount Halak, that goeth up to Seir; which Joshua gave unto the tribes of Israel for a possession according to their divisions;

    Remember the victories.
    We have plenty of opportunity to focus on the negative and when things go wrong, how much more would our faith grow if we remembered the victories God brought us through.

  12. 6 Them did Moses the servant of the Lord and the children of Israel smite: and Moses the servant of the Lord gave it for a possession unto the Reubenites, and the Gadites, and the half tribe of Manasseh.

    7 And these are the kings of the country which Joshua and the children of Israel smote on this side Jordan on the west, from Baalgad in the valley of Lebanon even unto the mount Halak, that goeth up to Seir; which Joshua gave unto the tribes of Israel for a possession according to their divisions;

    It doesnt matter who you are if you are obedient to the Lord’s commandments you are on hos side and you will have victory over all your enemies. Obey the Lord and grow in victory.

  13. 7 And these are the kings of the country which Joshua and the children of Israel smote on this side Jordan on the west, from Baalgad in the valley of Lebanon even unto the mount Halak, that goeth up to Seir; which Joshua gave unto the tribes of Israel for a possession according to their divisions;
    God gave his people victory after victory as they defeated their enemies. Let God arise and His enemies be scattered! God wants to give us the victory on a daily basis as well. Back to back he wants us to defeat our spiritual enemies he wants to give us continual victory !

  14. v7 And these are the kings of the country which Joshua and the children of Karate smote on this side Jorden on the west, from Baalgad in the valley of Lebanon even unto mount Halak, that goeth up to Seir; which Joshua have unto the tribes of Israel for possession according to their divisions;

    GOD IS FOR YOU NOT AGAINST YOU.
    Sometimes GOD gives us challenges… not to crush us, but to make us courageous.
    Thank GOD for Victory!!!!

  15. 6 Them did Moses the servant of the Lord and the children of Israel smite: and Moses the servant of the Lord gave it for a possession unto the Reubenites, and the Gadites, and the half tribe of Manasseh.

    7 And these are the kings of the country which Joshua and the children of Israel smote on this side Jordan on the west, from Baalgad in the valley of Lebanon even unto the mount Halak, that goeth up to Seir; which Joshua gave unto the tribes of Israel for a possession according to their divisions;

  16. Just another example, when God is fighting your battles no one stands a chance. No matter where they try to hide.

    8 In the mountains, and in the valleys, and in the plains, and in the springs, and in the wilderness, and in the south country; the Hittites, the Amorites, and the Canaanites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites:

  17. 1 Now these are the kings of the land, which the children of Israel smote, and possessed their land on the other side Jordan toward the rising of the sun, from the river Arnon unto mount Hermon, and all the plain on the east:

    2 Sihon king of the Amorites, who dwelt in Heshbon, and ruled from Aroer, which is upon the bank of the river Arnon, and from the middle of the river, and from half Gilead, even unto the river Jabbok, which is the border of the children of Ammon;

  18. Joshua 12:7-8 & 24b
    7) And these are the kings of the country which Joshua and the children of Israel smote on this side Jordan on the west, from Baal-gad in the valley of Lebanon even unto the mount Halak, that goeth up to Seir; which Joshua gave unto the tribes of Israel for a possession according to their divisions;
    8) In the mountains, and in the valleys, and in the plains, and in the springs, and in the wilderness, and in the south country; the Hittites, the Amorites, and the Canaanites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites:
    24b) … all the kings thirty and one.

    The LORD had told Joshua to Be strong and of a good courage and not to be afraid neither be dismayed, for the LORD thy God was with him. The LORD also told him that He would not fail him or forsake him. (Joshua 1)
    Moses told Joshua to Be strong and of a good courage and not to be afraid or dismayed for the LORD went before him and with him. He also told Joshua that the LORD would not fail him or forsake him. (Deut.31)

    So having promises such as these, Joshua was able to step into battle with confidence (strength and courage) that God was with Him every step of the way. He and the Israelites were Victorious over their enemies.
    We have these same promises from God. So when we step into battle, we too can do it with confidence (strength and courage) because God is with us every step of the way. He is on our side, and we don’t have to fear what man can do to us. (Ps. 118:6). We are Conquerors and Victorious over the enemy!

  19. Joshua is one of the great leaders of Jewish history.The Talmud says: “The face of Moses was like the face of the Sun, while the face of Joshua was like the face of the moon.”The greatness of Joshua was reflection of his teacher, Moses, which is a tremendous compliment. It also tells us that just as the sun is much greater than the moon, which only reflects sunlight, so too, had Moses lived to enter the Land, all of Jewish history and all of human history would have been different.

  20. Joshua 12:24b (NLT)
    24 …In all, thirty-one kings were defeated.

    A king represents a Kingdom. Not only is it the ruler but it is all of his subjects, and vassals. It is his armies and his resources. It wasn’t just a man but it was what that man represented.

    The word says that one day the kingdoms of this world will be subject to God. I believe that we can have dominion over the kingdoms that rule in our region.

    How do we take the kingdoms? Take out the king.

    When we conquer the Kings we obtain their kingdoms. Then we replace it with the kingdom of God.

  21. Joshua 12:1 Now these are the kings of the land, which the children of Israel smote, and possessed their land on the other side Jordan toward the rising of the sun, from the river Arnon, unto mount Hermon, and all the plain on the east:

    Psalm 136:21 And gave their land for an heritage: for his mercy endureth forever.

  22. “Now these are the kings of the land, which the children of Israel smote, and possessed their land on the other side Jordan toward the rising of the sun, from the river Arnon unto mount Hermon, and all the plain on the east”. Their focus was on God (Jesus) first and then their cause; therefore they were victorious. One can see many examples today where people are united; however only in their cause. How much more could be accomplished if one became as the children of Israel, which begins with focusing on Jesus (the only real God) and then unite to on his cause. Dear God, open our eyes and ears in Jesus name. God Bless America, Israel, Jerusalem, and you all in Jesus name, Amen!

  23. “Them did Moses the servant of the Lord and the children of Israel smite: and Moses the servant of the Lord gave it for a possession unto the Reubenites, and the Gadites, and the half tribe of Manasseh.” This is another example of giving, as “the servant of the Lord gave”. Moses gave and we know that they also gave back, which is also what the Lord will do. God help us to see that we receive when we give unto you, in Jesus name.

  24. 8 In the mountains, and in the valleys, and in the plains, and in the springs, and in the wilderness, and in the south country; the Hittites, the Amorites, and the Canaanites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites:

    There will always be adversaries hiding, no matter how high or how low our walk takes us. But by the grace of God, we will see mighty victories in the new building.

  25. 8 In the mountains, and in the valleys, and in the plains, and in the springs, and in the wilderness, and in the south country; the Hittites, the Amorites, and the Canaanites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites:

    In the high or the low

    No matter season of your life that you are in, the mountains high, valleys low, can’t seen to go up or down plains, and in the rough country, with Jesus we are in it to win it.

    God is good, no matter what season of life we are in, Job said it best, blessed be the name of the Lord, he gives and takes away.

  26. Defeated Kings

    When God calls Joshua and the people of Israel to enter the promised land, he tells them this will be their home, “their inheritance forever” (Ex 32:13). It would be too easy to imagine the promised land as open territory, with no people, lots of produce, homes divinely built and fortified cities with gates wide open. Nothing could be further from the truth. The land is rich and fertile, but many people inhabit it. For Israel to occupy the land they are going to have to fight for it! This chapter is a list of cities and kings defeated by by Joshua and Israel. At this time a king is a ruler of a city or group of people. This serves as an everlasting reminder that God keeps his promises. Stepping into the promised land isn’t the finish line it’s the starting line. It marks that the battle has simply taken another level and the fight is on.

  27. This chapter shows us how God gives us victory over our enemies. He causes us to triumph. When it may seem impossible, God already has it under control.

  28. Everywhere the children of Israel went, God gave them the promised land, as long a they were walking in obedience. We find the places that they were not victorious it was because sin or disobedience rose up in the camp.

    We maintain victory in our lives in the same manner. As long as we are right with the Master and our Pastor, and we are obedient, we can walk in victory. Get any of the three out of kilter and we no longer possess the victory God intends for us to have.

  29. 1 Now these are the kings of the land, which the children of Israel smote, and possessed their land on the other side Jordan toward the rising of the sun, from the river Arnon unto mount Hermon, and all the plain on the east:

  30. “And these are the kings of the country which Joshua and the children of Israel smote on this side Jordan on the west, from Baal–gad in the valley of Lebanon even unto the mount Halak, that goeth up to Seir; which Joshua gave unto the tribes of Israel for a possession according to their divisions; In the mountains, and in the valleys, and in the plains, and in the springs, and in the wilderness, and in the south country; the Hittites, the Amorites, and the Canaanites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites:”
    ‭‭Joshua‬ ‭12:7-8‬ ‭KJV‬‬

    As they followed God the children of Isreal hadvixtory in their lands. They they had high victories, low victories, victories in the regular or mundane, victories when things were good, and victories when things were scarce. That is the kind of victory we can and do have too. We are impacting lives everywhere we are. People see Jesus through our actions and he is lifted high through the victories we have just like Joshua and the children of Israel.

  31. 7 And these are the kings of the country which Joshua and the children of Israel smote on this side Jordan on the west, from Baalgad in the valley of Lebanon even unto the mount Halak, that goeth up to Seir; which Joshua gave unto the tribes of Israel for a possession according to their divisions;

    Joshua and the Israelites defeated and smote all those in the name of God. This is where He wants all of us in UNITY. the enemy can’t come against those that are in sync with the will of God. POFW is about to move into what God has promised us and United we will move into that promise land. The enemy is defeated, he just doesn’t know it yet. Praise is to God and the land is ours according to the promise of God……..Thank you Jesus…..Amen!!!!
