Joshua 16

1 And the lot of the children of Joseph fell from Jordan by Jericho, unto the water of Jericho on the east, to the wilderness that goeth up from Jericho throughout mount Bethel,

2 And goeth out from Bethel to Luz, and passeth along unto the borders of Archi to Ataroth,

3 And goeth down westward to the coast of Japhleti, unto the coast of Bethhoron the nether, and to Gezer; and the goings out thereof are at the sea.

4 So the children of Joseph, Manasseh and Ephraim, took their inheritance.

5 And the border of the children of Ephraim according to their families was thus: even the border of their inheritance on the east side was Atarothaddar, unto Bethhoron the upper;

6 And the border went out toward the sea to Michmethah on the north side; and the border went about eastward unto Taanathshiloh, and passed by it on the east to Janohah;

7 And it went down from Janohah to Ataroth, and to Naarath, and came to Jericho, and went out at Jordan.

8 The border went out from Tappuah westward unto the river Kanah; and the goings out thereof were at the sea. This is the inheritance of the tribe of the children of Ephraim by their families.

9 And the separate cities for the children of Ephraim were among the inheritance of the children of Manasseh, all the cities with their villages.

10 And they drave not out the Canaanites that dwelt in Gezer: but the Canaanites dwell among the Ephraimites unto this day, and serve under tribute.

  1. Come unto me all you little children and be blessed….
    Blessed be the name of the lord blessed be His Name. Jesus

  2. v10 And they drave not out the Canaanites that dwell in Gezar: but the Cananties dwell among the Ephraimites unto this day and serve under tribute.

    Morally, our world is a sludge pit. As a child of GOD we should faithfully practice a daily detoxification a cleansing or we will become contaminated with the sins of this world which results in backsliding and spiritual death.

  3. Verse 4 NIV says “So Manasseh and Ephraim, the descendants of Joseph, received their inheritance.” The same verse in the NKJV says “So the children of Joseph, Manasseh and Ephraim, took their inheritance.” On 5/15/16 it will be time to not only receive our inheritance; but, take it by storm as we have no time to lose and no time to waste. Phase II awaits!

  4. 10 And they drave not out the Canaanites that dwelt in Gezer: but the Canaanites dwell among the Ephraimites unto this day, and serve under tribute.

    They dwelt among the Children of Israel and they were exposed to Godly living, they were able to see first hand God blessing them, and his power. Sometimes we have to live in a household that isn’t so Jesus freindly, and they reject our ways, but when they begin to see what God is doing, and the NEW person we are becoming it impacts them, some come to the marvelous light, some watch from afar and slowly comes, but they definitely notice, SOMEONE’S ALWAYS WATCHING, thank you Jesus for peepers!

  5. CONQUER TO GROW

    10 And they drave not out the Canaanites that dwelt in Gezer: but the Canaanites dwell among the Ephraimites unto this day, and serve under tribute.

    It seems that what we do not conquer in our spirits for the LORD, we will battle in the future. The children of Israel attempted to make a deal with their adversary. This agreement like other similar agreements didn’t fare well.

    Joshua 17:12 Yet the children of Manasseh could not drive out the inhabitants of those cities; but the Canaanites would dwell in that land.
    13 Yet it came to pass, when the children of Israel were waxen strong, that they put the Canaanites to tribute; but did not utterly drive them out.
    14 And the children of Joseph spake unto Joshua, saying, Why hast thou given me but one lot and one portion to inherit, seeing I am a great people, forasmuch as the LORD hath blessed me hitherto?
    15 And Joshua answered them, If thou be a great people, then get thee up to the wood country, and cut down for thyself there in the land of the Perizzites and of the giants, if mount Ephraim be too narrow for thee.
    16 And the children of Joseph said, The hill is not enough for us: and all the Canaanites that dwell in the land of the valley have chariots of iron, both they who are of Bethshean and her towns, and they who are of the valley of Jezreel.
    17 And Joshua spake unto the house of Joseph, even to Ephraim and to Manasseh, saying, Thou art a great people, and hast great power: thou shalt not have one lot only:
    18 But the mountain shall be thine; for it is a wood, and thou shalt cut it down: and the outgoings of it shall be thine: for thou shalt drive out the Canaanites, though they have iron chariots, and though they be strong.

    We must choose to tenaciously conquer all that GOD has promised and given us. We are called to GROW the Kingdom of GOD through conquering all that the enemy has presented against us.

    iRepent
    iPraise
    iPray

  6. 4. So the children of Joseph, Manasseh and Ephraim, took their inheritance.

    Not everyone that has part in an inheritance actually gets it. It is up to us to take our inheritance, own it, and help it GROW for the glory of God!

  7. 1 And the lot of the children of Joseph fell from Jordan by Jericho, unto the water of Jericho on the east, to the wilderness that goeth up from Jericho throughout mount Bethel,

    God knows what He is doing with His children. He places us where we need to be at; So when He calls on you (me) we’re ready for what He has in store for us. God has set us in the land that He has promised us. Just like Joshua and all those that followed him and the commandments that God has set forth. Isn’t God awesome in how He takes care of His children.

    Pro 1:2 to know wisdom and instruction; to recognize the words of understanding;
    Pro 1:3 to receive the instruction of wisdom, justice, and judgment, and uprightness;
    Pro 1:4 to give sense to the simple, knowledge and judgment to the young man;

    God is awesome……..Thank you Jesus…….Amen!!!

  8. iLove to Grow in the Word

    9In addition, some towns with their surrounding villages in the territory allocated to the half-tribe of Manasseh were set aside for the tribe of Ephraim. 10They did not drive the Canaanites out of Gezer, however, so the people of Gezer live as slaves among the people of Ephraim to this day.

    Curious as to why the folks of Gezer were not driven out. As I researched the city of Gezer, I found out these folks were Canaanites that had strong ties to Egypt. It seems to me the Israelites would have completely removed all ties to Egypt.

  9. 1 And the lot of the children of Joseph fell from Jordan by Jericho, unto the water of Jericho on the east, to the wilderness that goeth up from Jericho throughout mount Bethel,

    2 And goeth out from Bethel to Luz, and passeth along unto the borders of Archi to Ataroth,

  10. 4 So the children of Joseph, Manasseh and Ephraim, took their inheritance.

    5 And the border of the children of Ephraim according to their families was thus: even the border of their inheritance on the east side was Atarothaddar, unto Bethhoron the upper;

  11. God gave each of them a designated portion of land for their inheritance. Likewise He has specific things designated for those in His Kingdom that He desires to give to those who are willing to be obedient to Him.

  12. We see in this chapter God still handing out blessings he promised to the Israelites. When God makes a promise, you can be assured that he’s going to follow through with it. How much more when we make a promise, we should see it all the way through. Don’t make promises you have no intention of fulfilling. We are judged by our words.

  13. 10 And they drave not out the Canaanites that dwelt in Gezer: but the Canaanites dwell among the Ephraimites unto this day, and serve under tribute.

    I no we as the church must examine ourselves and if there is anything that we are holding onto that should not dwell in the promise land we have 14 days to prepare ourselves.

    Why go take me territory fighting the things from the old territory you will leave yourself very open to the enemy.

    We are moving Northward and that means new territory to conquer but we must first conquer the our Now and grow!

  14. 10 And they drave not out the Canaanites that dwelt in Gezer: but the Canaanites dwell among the Ephraimites unto this day, and serve under tribute.

  15. Joshua 16:10, “And they drave not out the Canaanites that dwelt in Gezer: but the Canaanites dwell among the Ephramites unto this day, and serve under tribute.”

    We can go back and read Deut. 20:17-18 and see that they were to utterly destroy the Hittites, and the Amorites, the Canaanites, and the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites; as the LORD had commanded them, so that they wouldn’t be taught to do after their abominations.
    Romans 6:12 says, “Let not sin reign therefore in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.”

    The reason so many struggle to walk in the LORD faithfully and inherit what He has for them is because they are disobedient and haven’t fully destroyed sin in their lives.

    Obey God, Utterly destroy sin, and Inherit what God has for you.

  16. 4 So the children of Joseph, Manasseh and Ephraim, took their inheritance
    We are about to be possessing the land of promise but it’s important to not give up stay the fight the good right of courage

  17. “So the children of Joseph, Manasseh and Ephraim, took their inheritance.”
    ‭‭Joshua‬ ‭16:4‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

    Manasseh — That is, half Manasseh. Their inheritance — Their several portions, which here follow. It is said, they took their inheritance, which also Judah had done before them, because the tribes of Judah and Joseph took possession of their inheritances before the rest; and it was fit they should do so, for the security of the main camp, and the body of the people, which were at Gilgal, Joshua 18:5.

  18. 4 So the children of Joseph, Manasseh and Ephraim, took their inheritance.

    5 And the border of the children of Ephraim according to their families was thus: even the border of their inheritance on the east side was Atarothaddar, unto Bethhoron the upper;

  19. “So the children of Joseph, Manasseh and Ephraim, took their inheritance.”
    ‭‭Joshua‬ ‭16:4‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

    The children came and took all the land.

  20. Land division was not by chance forGot controlled the lot

    David reflects on God’s sovereignty in his life and saying Lord too have assigned me my portion and my cup The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places Let us rejoice in the good God.gives us

  21. “And they drave not out the Canaanites that dwelt in Gezer: but the Canaanites dwell among the Ephraimites unto this day, and serve under tribute.” The word of God (Jesus) identified they live among them and work; however it did not say they live among them and do nothing. One that needs an explanation, may just be more in need of revelation. Dear God, help us comprehend that we are too do. God Bless America, Israel, Jerusalem, and you all in Jesus name, Amen!

  22. “And the lot of the children of Joseph fell from Jordan by Jericho, unto the water of Jericho on the east, to the wilderness that goeth up from Jericho throughout mount Bethel”. We can read what they received; however we do not read how it was received. We should all examine self, and how we respond to what is received. God help us learn that we are too receive with thankfulness, in Jesus name.

  23. The enemy is defeated! In Jesus name were going to to get rid of all those things that are hinderences. We need to press towards the mark, Let God work on us thru us so we can do what God has called us to do.

  24. 1 And the lot of the children of Joseph fell from Jordan by Jericho, unto the water of Jericho on the east, to the wilderness that goeth up from Jericho throughout mount Bethel,

    4 So the children of Joseph, Manasseh and Ephraim, took their inheritance.

    If you don’t take of your life to be used in ministry, Gods gonna go-on, youll lose it to someone that is more prepared and passionate for the lost.

  25. 4 So the children of Joseph, Manasseh and Ephraim, took their inheritance.

    It’s time to take our inheritance!

  26. 10 And they drave not out the Canaanites that dwelt in Gezer: but the Canaanites dwell among the Ephraimites unto this day, and serve under tribute.

    They word does not say that they couldnt…it states they drove not out. We need to be cautious if the things we allow in our lives to dwell, or be part of our lives for they can be a hinderance even come against you. Its time to drive out all that sin that so easily can cause one to fall and push out the ebemy from your path to obtaining the promises of God.

  27. 10 And they drave not out the Canaanites that dwelt in Gezer: but the Canaanites dwell among the Ephraimites unto this day, and serve under tribute.
    God gave them power and rule over people that normally would have been against them

  28. 1 The allotment for the descendants of Joseph extended from the Jordan River near Jericho, east of the springs of Jericho, through the wilderness and into the hill country of Bethel.

    Another chapter on possession of territories. These chapters come at a very good time for POFW. We are taking possession of our community.

  29. They settled at the East of the waters of Jericho and up toward the desert hill country of Bethel and ending at the sea. The most damaging words are that they didn’t throw out the Canaanites in Gezer; to this day the Canaanites live among the people of Ephraim but are conquered to do forced labor.This mentality of compromise will only harm them and those Israelites who see them do this and think it’s okay for them to do too even if it’s disobedient to God. Our decisions will impact those around us for good or bad.we have the choice.

  30. Boarders
    When we understand our territories we can better maintain them. Knowing what belongs to you is nice, but using it and keeping us is something else. As we go out and invite people to hear the truth we have boarders. If we went into anther person’s land we would not prosper as we would not be able to walk in dominion.

  31. “The allotment for the descendants of Joseph extended from the Jordan River near Jericho, east of the springs of Jericho, through the wilderness and into the hill country of Bethel.”
    ‭‭Joshua‬ ‭16:1‬ ‭NLT‬‬

    Every tribe had their own allotment. Even those who were half-tribe. God never leaves us or forsakes is.

  32. Samson tells Delilah that he should be tied up with seven fresh thongs. He also wears his hair long, uncut hair in seven braids (vs 13). Is there some significance for the use of the number seven? The earth was created in seven days (Gen 2:2) seven of each clean animal go on the ark (Gen 7:2-3) Jacob worked seven years for Rachel (even though he got Leah 1st) as his wife (Gen 29:18) Egypt suffered seven years of famine (Gen 41:54) the Israelites marched around Jericho seven days and seven times on the seventh day (Jos 6:4) These are just a few examples of the hundreds of times the number seven appears on scripture. For ancient people the number seven signified completeness. A perfect number it represents a since of finality or fullness to whatever is being counted.
