Joshua 18

1 And the whole congregation of the children of Israel assembled together at Shiloh, and set up the tabernacle of the congregation there. And the land was subdued before them.

2 And there remained among the children of Israel seven tribes, which had not yet received their inheritance.

3 And Joshua said unto the children of Israel, How long are ye slack to go to possess the land, which the Lord God of your fathers hath given you?

4 Give out from among you three men for each tribe: and I will send them, and they shall rise, and go through the land, and describe it according to the inheritance of them; and they shall come again to me.

5 And they shall divide it into seven parts: Judah shall abide in their coast on the south, and the house of Joseph shall abide in their coasts on the north.

6 Ye shall therefore describe the land into seven parts, and bring the description hither to me, that I may cast lots for you here before the Lord our God.

7 But the Levites have no part among you; for the priesthood of the Lord is their inheritance: and Gad, and Reuben, and half the tribe of Manasseh, have received their inheritance beyond Jordan on the east, which Moses the servant of the Lord gave them.

8 And the men arose, and went away: and Joshua charged them that went to describe the land, saying, Go and walk through the land, and describe it, and come again to me, that I may here cast lots for you before the Lord in Shiloh.

9 And the men went and passed through the land, and described it by cities into seven parts in a book, and came again to Joshua to the host at Shiloh.

10 And Joshua cast lots for them in Shiloh before the Lord: and there Joshua divided the land unto the children of Israel according to their divisions.

11 And the lot of the tribe of the children of Benjamin came up according to their families: and the coast of their lot came forth between the children of Judah and the children of Joseph.

12 And their border on the north side was from Jordan; and the border went up to the side of Jericho on the north side, and went up through the mountains westward; and the goings out thereof were at the wilderness of Bethaven.

13 And the border went over from thence toward Luz, to the side of Luz, which is Bethel, southward; and the border descended to Atarothadar, near the hill that lieth on the south side of the nether Bethhoron.

14 And the border was drawn thence, and compassed the corner of the sea southward, from the hill that lieth before Bethhoron southward; and the goings out thereof were at Kirjathbaal, which is Kirjathjearim, a city of the children of Judah: this was the west quarter.

15 And the south quarter was from the end of Kirjathjearim, and the border went out on the west, and went out to the well of waters of Nephtoah:

16 And the border came down to the end of the mountain that lieth before the valley of the son of Hinnom, and which is in the valley of the giants on the north, and descended to the valley of Hinnom, to the side of Jebusi on the south, and descended to Enrogel,

17 And was drawn from the north, and went forth to Enshemesh, and went forth toward Geliloth, which is over against the going up of Adummim, and descended to the stone of Bohan the son of Reuben,

18 And passed along toward the side over against Arabah northward, and went down unto Arabah:

19 And the border passed along to the side of Bethhoglah northward: and the outgoings of the border were at the north bay of the salt sea at the south end of Jordan: this was the south coast.

20 And Jordan was the border of it on the east side. This was the inheritance of the children of Benjamin, by the coasts thereof round about, according to their families.

21 Now the cities of the tribe of the children of Benjamin according to their families were Jericho, and Bethhoglah, and the valley of Keziz,

22 And Betharabah, and Zemaraim, and Bethel,

23 And Avim, and Pharah, and Ophrah,

24 And Chepharhaammonai, and Ophni, and Gaba; twelve cities with their villages:

25 Gibeon, and Ramah, and Beeroth,

26 And Mizpeh, and Chephirah, and Mozah,

27 And Rekem, and Irpeel, and Taralah,

28 And Zelah, Eleph, and Jebusi, which is Jerusalem, Gibeath, and Kirjath; fourteen cities with their villages. This is the inheritance of the children of Benjamin according to their families.

  1. 1 And the whole congregation of the children of Israel assembled together at Shiloh, and set up the tabernacle of the congregation there. And the land was subdued before them.

2 And there remained among the children of Israel seven tribes, which had not yet received their inheritance.

These two scriptures speak to me about the congregation. Congregation is defined as a group of people assembled for religious worship. That was all of Us lastnight at church we were One. Singing and praising unto the Lord a New song.

  2. v And Joshua said unto the children of Israel, How long are ye slack to go to posses the land, which the LORD God of your fathers hath given you.

We have the responsibility for seeing the work of the LORD progress.
We all have work to do let’s continue to do it with all of our might.
THE LORD DESERVES OUR VERY BEST.

It’s about HIS KINGDOM and not ours.

  3. 3 And Joshua said unto the children of Israel, How long are ye slack to go to possess the land, which the Lord God of your fathers hath given you?

4 Give out from among you three men for each tribe: and I will send them, and they shall rise, and go through the land, and describe it according to the inheritance of them; and they shall come again to me.

  4. Verse 3 NLT “Then Joshua asked them, “How long are you going to wait before taking possession of the remaining land the Lord, the God of your ancestors, has given to you?” Same verse in NKJV “Then Joshua said to the children of Israel: “How long will you neglect to go and possess the land which the Lord God of your fathers has given you?” The land has already been given POFW…..no more waiting! It is now time to take it and receive it in Jesus name.

  5. 3. Joshua (to the remaining Israelites): How much more time do you intend to waste before going to claim the land the Eternal God of your ancestors is giving to you? Voice

The enemy is not wasting any time, so the sooner we take possession of the territory God has promised us, the sooner we can run the enemy out and begin winning souls for the Kingdom of God.

  6. 2 And there remained among the children of Israel seven tribes, which had not yet received their inheritance.

3 And Joshua said unto the children of Israel, How long are ye slack to go to possess the land, which the Lord God of your fathers hath given you?

There is no better time than now to take possession of the land that is before us. We are in the last days and God has called out pastor to this region to lead us a great inheritance now it’s time to be unified and posses it.

  7. iLove to grow in the Word

3Then Joshua asked them, “How long are you going to wait before taking possession of the remaining land the lord, the God of your ancestors, has given to you? 4Select three men from each tribe, and I will send them out to explore the land and map it out. They will then return to me with a written report of their proposed divisions of their new homeland.

I had to laugh as I read this. Joshua’s leadership kicked in and he asked a very pointed question along with making the statement. We all must be ready to work and be ready to go out and get what rightfully belongs us. The kingdom wont just fall into our laps by accident.

  8. “And Joshua said unto the children of Israel, How long are ye slack to go to possess the land, which the Lord God of your fathers hath given you? Give out from among you three men for each tribe: and I will send them, and they shall rise, and go through the land, and describe it according to the inheritance of them; and they shall come again to me. And they shall divide it into seven parts: Judah shall abide in their coast on the south, and the house of Joseph shall abide in their coasts on the north. Ye shall therefore describe the land into seven parts, and bring the description hither to me, that I may cast lots for you here before the Lord our God.”
    ‭‭Joshua‬ ‭18:3-6‬ ‭KJV‬‬

At times there are some that have been given freedom and blessings but possession never takes place. It’s as if they’re sitting in jail with the cell wide-open, no workers and they don’t possess their freedom by walking out. Thankfully for the Israelites Joshua gave instructions and lead them to their possession. The instruction from Joshua was different from Moses instructions to possess the promised land. One of the differences was to send out three men from every tribe instead of one man. Another difference was the men were to describe it according to the inheritance and then come back again to Joshua.

  9. 3 And Joshua said unto the children of Israel, How long are ye slack to go to possess the land, which the Lord God of your fathers hath given you?

4 Give out from among you three men for each tribe: and I will send them, and they shall rise, and go through the land, and describe it according to the inheritance of them; and they shall come again to me.

5 And they shall divide it into seven parts: Judah shall abide in their coast on the south, and the house of Joseph shall abide in their coasts on the north.

6 Ye shall therefore describe the land into seven parts, and bring the description hither to me, that I may cast lots for you here before the Lord our God.

They wanted the inheratance but they wanted someone to get it for them! You have to work, we have to work diligently and faithfuly for to claim the land that God has for us, its not just one persons job, theres still work to be done and we must all UNITE…And none slack..Lord bless help us to be a help meet to our Pastor and First Lady not a hinderance or burden, help us to Work diligently and in unity…you are a great and Mighty

  10. THE WHOLE CONGREGATION

1 And the whole congregation of the children of Israel assembled together at Shiloh, and set up the tabernacle of the congregation there. And the land was subdued before them.

The whole congregation assembled at SHILOH (a place of rest – tranquil). Once the congregation crossed over Jordan even though all of the land had not been divided into them, there was peace and unity. Unity in our congregation brings us to a place of REST in Christ JESUS, event though we do not have everything settled in our areas of responsibility, the whole congregation assembled together.

I believe to be the 2nd chance opportunity from the LORD for the congregation to come together in regards to their promised land. Consider the debacle of their first meeting of disunity, discord and division.

Numbers 14:1 And all the congregation lifted up their voice, and cried; and the people wept that night.
2 And all the children of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron: and the whole congregation said unto them, Would God that we had died in the land of Egypt! or would God we had died in this wilderness!
3 And wherefore hath the LORD brought us unto this land, to fall by the sword, that our wives and our children should be a prey? were it not better for us to return into Egypt?
4 And they said one to another, Let us make a captain, and let us return into Egypt.
5 Then Moses and Aaron fell on their faces before all the assembly of the congregation of the children of Israel.
6 And Joshua the son of Nun, and Caleb the son of Jephunneh, which were of them that searched the land, rent their clothes:
7 And they spake unto all the company of the children of Israel, saying, The land, which we passed through to search it, is an exceeding good land.
8 If the LORD delight in us, then he will bring us into this land, and give it us; a land which floweth with milk and honey.
9 Only rebel not ye against the LORD, neither fear ye the people of the land; for they are bread for us: their defence is departed from them, and the LORD is with us: fear them not.
10 But all the congregation bade stone them with stones. And the glory of the LORD appeared in the tabernacle of the congregation before all the children of Israel.

The congregation assembled over the same land. The first meeting cost them over 40 years of aimlessly wondering in the wilderness. The second meeting paid them with tranquil peace and possession.

iPray the WHOLE CONGREGATION of The Pentecostals of Fort Worth will be unified, rested and living at peace together in the LORD JESUS as we take possession of 10264 Westpoint Blvd.

    iRepent
    iPraise
    iPray
    iWork
    iGive

  11. 3 So Joshua said to the Israelites: “How long will you wait before you begin to take possession of the land that the Lord, the God of your ancestors, has given you? We’re not waiting anymore! God gave us land and we are taking possession of it. We aren’t waiting for our blessing were going to get our blessing.

  12. And again the LORD is very specific about where he places each tribe and the inheritance in which they receive.

  13. 3 Then Joshua asked them, “How long are you going to wait before taking possession of the remaining land the Lord, the God of your ancestors, has given to you? (NLT)

No more waiting POFW, our time of possessing the land is soon and very soon!

  14. Casting Lots

10 And Joshua cast lots for them in Shiloh before the Lord: and there Joshua divided the land unto the children of Israel according to their divisions.

When my girls were younger we cast lots often to keep things as fair as possible. One particular instance, there was a piece of cake. It was to be divided into two pieces; one for each kid. I told Jaci that she would cut the cake into two pieces. She proceeded to cut the cake; however, the pieces were clearly not equal. I stopped her and told her that even though she was dividing the cake, Tiffany would choose the first piece. Miraculously, the dividing line moved to more equally cut the cake into equal parts.

  15. 3 Then Joshua asked them, “How long are you going to wait before taking possession of the remaining land the Lord, the God of your ancestors, has given to you?

    What Now POFW?

  16. 8 And the men arose, and went away: and Joshua charged them that went to describe the land, saying, Go and walk through the land, and describe it, and come again to me, that I may here cast lots for you before the Lord in Shiloh.

Before your dream, your vision of what God has planned for you in the future, you need to visualize your dream. You need to start thinking of your dream in detail so you can describe it. Just as the scripture says, to write it and make it plain. Get the vision for your dream, and then write it or describe it and make it plain so you know the path God has before you.

  17. 3 And Joshua said unto the children of Israel, How long are ye slack to go to possess the land, which the Lord God of your fathers hath given you?

4 Give out from among you three men for each tribe: and I will send them, and they shall rise, and go through the land, and describe it according to the inheritance of them; and they shall come again to me.

5 And they shall divide it into seven parts: Judah shall abide in their coast on the south, and the house of Joseph shall abide in their coasts on the north.

It’s all about the “Team”. One can put a thousand to flight, two ten thousand. We need a “Team” to conquer and possess the promises of God for the region of Fort Worth. One person cannot accomplish this task, but it takes all of us looking at the big picture, taking responsibility for our portion of the big picture and accomplishing the goal.

  18. 8 And the men arose, and went away: and Joshua charged them that went to describe the land, saying, Go and walk through the land, and describe it, and come again to me, that I may here cast lots for you before the Lord in Shiloh.
9 And the men went and passed through the land, and described it by cities into seven parts in a book, and came again to Joshua to the host at Shiloh.

    Walk it out.

When I read this. It reminded me of the time right after we bought the new land. How pastor asked us to go there and walk it. Through the unevenness and the tall grass that was there. We made it. Now that we have possessed the land. We a re building our city. Our stake on the land. Let’s Grow.

  19. 3 And Joshua said unto the children of Israel, How long are ye slack to go to possess the land, which the Lord God of your fathers hath given you?
We must not be slack in pursuing the promises that God has given us. We must give ourselves to pursuing the purpose and path that God has given us.

  20. 1 And the whole congregation of the children of Israel assembled together at Shiloh, and set up the tabernacle of the congregation there. And the land was subdued before them.

Subdued means quiet, repressed or controlled. So there were no more armies rising up against them, no kings banding together to come fight Israel. Yet Israel still had to stay focused on the task ahead and continue to take their promised land. We have the land and new church building, yet still have to take possession of this community spiritually. We know it takes unity and all working together to possess our promise. I believe God has gone before us and has subdued the land and now POFW must unify and take this new region for the kingdom of God.

  21. 1 And the whole congregation of the children of Israel assembled together at Shiloh, and set up the tabernacle of the congregation there. And the land was subdued before them.

And the congregation assembled TOGETHER!!! Pastor needs us all right now to be unified in prayer for this vision. The devil will try to divide us to not be in unity, but that is the last thing Pastor needs. We are one body and we all need each other. Just like the body doesn’t function correctly when something is wrong or an organ is weak. Just the same in the body of Christ. If one person is weak the whole body is weak and struggling. Unity, Unity, Unity!!!!

Col. 3:23 Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters,

  22. Joshua 18:3 (NLT)
Then Joshua asked them, “How long are you going to wait before taking possession (ownership) of the remaining land the LORD, the God of your ancestors, has given you?”

The time is NOW for POFW to take possession (ownership) of our new land.
    Thank You JESUS!

  23. 3 And Joshua said unto the children of Israel, How long are ye slack to go to possess the land, which the Lord God of your fathers hath given you?

No more waiting, now is the time to possess the land! Let’s move northward POFW!!

  24. 3 And Joshua said unto the children of Israel, How long are ye slack to go to possess the land, which the Lord God of your fathers hath given you?

4 Give out from among you three men for each tribe: and I will send them, and they shall rise, and go through the land, and describe it according to the inheritance of them; and they shall come again to me.

  25. And Joshua said unto the children of Israel, How long are ye slack to go to possess the land, which the Lord God of your fathers hath given you?

4 Give out from among you three men for each tribe: and I will send them, and they shall rise, and go through the land, and describe it according to the inheritance of them; and they shall come again to me.

    I pray for understand.

That we will realize what god had in store for us but as we will receive and not ignore and pass it by

  26. Joshua 18:3 (KJV Strong’s)
3 And Joshua said unto the children of Israel, How long are ye slack to go to possess the land, which the Lord God of your fathers hath given you?

If God has promised you something then why sit back and wait for it to happen?

We can become so slack, or relaxed that we let life just pass us by.

I believe the scripture is saying that there comes a time when we need to say enough is enough. Let’s go get it.

  27. 1 And the whole congregation of the children of Israel assembled together at Shiloh, and set up the tabernacle of the congregation there. And the land was subdued before them.

2 And there remained among the children of Israel seven tribes, which had not yet received their inheritance.

3 And Joshua said unto the children of Israel, How long are ye slack to go to possess the land, which the Lord God of your fathers hath given you?

Its time to go northward and possss the land!

  28. Give out from among you three men for each tribe: and I will send them, and they shall rise, and go through the land, and describe it according to the inheritance of them; and they shall come again to me.

In theses versus I fell it is saying God will give you possessions and land but you have to make it yours however you do.So in life we have to make a stand and fight for what we believe as Pentecostals.

  29. 2 And there remained among the children of Israel seven tribes, which had not yet received their inheritance.

3 And Joshua said unto the children of Israel, How long are ye slack to go to possess the land, which the Lord God of your fathers hath given you?
Right here, Right now , not waiting another moment, right here, right the victory! Don’t wait we need to act now to fulfill God’s promise!

  30. “Ye shall therefore describe the land into seven parts, and bring the description hither to me, that I may cast lots for you here before the Lord our God.” The word of God (Jesus) identified he (God) would decide where they would reside. They were obedient to the Lord, just as one is also wise in doing the same. Dear God, order our steps in Jesus name. God Bless America, Israel, Jerusalem, and you all in Jesus name, Amen!

  31. “And the whole congregation of the children of Israel assembled together at Shiloh, and set up the tabernacle of the congregation there. And the land was subdued before them.” They had peace and rest because of the Lord. There is a time for all things, which the time was at hand for them to “possess the land”. God help us that we might clearly hear you in all things, in Jesus name

  32. How long will we sit on our hand? I saw an article today that mentioned you only need to be 70% sure to make a decision. That’s what people in the Delta Force were trained. Many times there is not enough time for data to gather for more informed decisions. Some opportunities are fast and they must be seized while the opportunity is there. Don’t wait. Do.

  33. 1 And the whole congregation of the children of Israel assembled together at Shiloh, and set up the tabernacle of the congregation there. And the land was subdued before them.

2 And there remained among the children of Israel seven tribes, which had not yet received their inheritance.

3 And Joshua said unto the children of Israel, How long are ye slack to go to possess the land, which the Lord God of your fathers hath given you?

The way I see it, once we make the transition to our new building, it’s important we don’t get content in the growth we’ve made so far. We must keep pushing to grow and save more souls for God’s kingdom.

  34. 2 And there remained among the children of Israel seven tribes, which had not yet received their inheritance.

3 And Joshua said unto the children of Israel, How long are ye slack to go to possess the land, which the Lord God of your fathers hath given you?

Wow. How bad do you want it?

  35. 10 And Joshua cast lots for them in Shiloh before the Lord: and there Joshua divided the land unto the children of Israel according to their divisions.

11 And the lot of the tribe of the children of Benjamin came up according to their families: and the coast of their lot came forth between the children of Judah and the children of Joseph.

  36. For the first time, a specific location becomes the place of worship for the entire nation of Israel. Shiloh, a town in the territory of Ephraim, becomes the central place of worship where the Tent of Meeting is set up. When I think of Israel worshipping I think of Jerusalem. Shiloh was actually the first gathering place of Gods people outside the tabernacle. When they gather here they are “in the presence of the Lord” vs 8. The priest Eli ministers before the Lord at Shiloh, and Samuel grows up and begins a prophetic ministry here. Through the time of the Judges and several of the kings Shiloh is the place of worship. Unfortunately, Shiloh is not always the primary location for worship since the Isrealites ignore the it in favor of local high places. Maybe because the journey to come together at once was a sacrifice they would decide to worship somewhere closer and more conveient. The heart of a servant doesn’t have a place for convenience or compromise but obedience and sacrifice.

  37. 3 Then Joshua asked them, “How long are you going to wait before taking possession of the remaining land the LORD, the God of your ancestors, has given to you?

God could ask each and everyone of us the same thing, how long are you gonna wait for? What are you waiting for? God wants you to be a servant for the kingdom. How long are you gonna wait to decide to become that sunday school teacher, HBS teacher, usher, greeter, cleaner, musician, etc. Lets not keep God waiting and make a decision.
