Judges 7

1 Then Jerubbaal, who is Gideon, and all the people that were with him, rose up early, and pitched beside the well of Harod: so that the host of the Midianites were on the north side of them, by the hill of Moreh, in the valley.

2 And the Lord said unto Gideon, The people that are with thee are too many for me to give the Midianites into their hands, lest Israel vaunt themselves against me, saying, Mine own hand hath saved me.

3 Now therefore go to, proclaim in the ears of the people, saying, Whosoever is fearful and afraid, let him return and depart early from mount Gilead. And there returned of the people twenty and two thousand; and there remained ten thousand.

4 And the Lord said unto Gideon, The people are yet too many; bring them down unto the water, and I will try them for thee there: and it shall be, that of whom I say unto thee, This shall go with thee, the same shall go with thee; and of whomsoever I say unto thee, This shall not go with thee, the same shall not go.

5 So he brought down the people unto the water: and the Lord said unto Gideon, Every one that lappeth of the water with his tongue, as a dog lappeth, him shalt thou set by himself; likewise every one that boweth down upon his knees to drink.

6 And the number of them that lapped, putting their hand to their mouth, were three hundred men: but all the rest of the people bowed down upon their knees to drink water.

7 And the Lord said unto Gideon, By the three hundred men that lapped will I save you, and deliver the Midianites into thine hand: and let all the other people go every man unto his place.

8 So the people took victuals in their hand, and their trumpets: and he sent all the rest of Israel every man unto his tent, and retained those three hundred men: and the host of Midian was beneath him in the valley.

9 And it came to pass the same night, that the Lord said unto him, Arise, get thee down unto the host; for I have delivered it into thine hand.

10 But if thou fear to go down, go thou with Phurah thy servant down to the host:

11 And thou shalt hear what they say; and afterward shall thine hands be strengthened to go down unto the host. Then went he down with Phurah his servant unto the outside of the armed men that were in the host.

12 And the Midianites and the Amalekites and all the children of the east lay along in the valley like grasshoppers for multitude; and their camels were without number, as the sand by the sea side for multitude.

13 And when Gideon was come, behold, there was a man that told a dream unto his fellow, and said, Behold, I dreamed a dream, and, lo, a cake of barley bread tumbled into the host of Midian, and came unto a tent, and smote it that it fell, and overturned it, that the tent lay along.

14 And his fellow answered and said, This is nothing else save the sword of Gideon the son of Joash, a man of Israel: for into his hand hath God delivered Midian, and all the host.

15 And it was so, when Gideon heard the telling of the dream, and the interpretation thereof, that he worshipped, and returned into the host of Israel, and said, Arise; for the Lord hath delivered into your hand the host of Midian.

16 And he divided the three hundred men into three companies, and he put a trumpet in every man’s hand, with empty pitchers, and lamps within the pitchers.

17 And he said unto them, Look on me, and do likewise: and, behold, when I come to the outside of the camp, it shall be that, as I do, so shall ye do.

18 When I blow with a trumpet, I and all that are with me, then blow ye the trumpets also on every side of all the camp, and say, The sword of the Lord, and of Gideon.

19 So Gideon, and the hundred men that were with him, came unto the outside of the camp in the beginning of the middle watch; and they had but newly set the watch: and they blew the trumpets, and brake the pitchers that were in their hands.

20 And the three companies blew the trumpets, and brake the pitchers, and held the lamps in their left hands, and the trumpets in their right hands to blow withal: and they cried, The sword of the Lord, and of Gideon.

21 And they stood every man in his place round about the camp; and all the host ran, and cried, and fled.

22 And the three hundred blew the trumpets, and the Lord set every man’s sword against his fellow, even throughout all the host: and the host fled to Bethshittah in Zererath, and to the border of Abelmeholah, unto Tabbath.

23 And the men of Israel gathered themselves together out of Naphtali, and out of Asher, and out of all Manasseh, and pursued after the Midianites.

24 And Gideon sent messengers throughout all mount Ephraim, saying, come down against the Midianites, and take before them the waters unto Bethbarah and Jordan. Then all the men of Ephraim gathered themselves together, and took the waters unto Bethbarah and Jordan.

25 And they took two princes of the Midianites, Oreb and Zeeb; and they slew Oreb upon the rock Oreb, and Zeeb they slew at the winepress of Zeeb, and pursued Midian, and brought the heads of Oreb and Zeeb to Gideon on the other side Jordan.

  1. Like pastor was saying in church about all the dreams and visions we have are gifts from God. As so it is said in verse 13 And when Gideon was come, behold, there was a man that told a dream unto his fellow, and said, Behold, I dreamed a dream, and, lo, a cake of barley bread tumbled into the host of Midian, and came unto a tent, and smote it that it fell, and overturned it, that the tent lay along.
Dreams and visions are blessings for preparing youn for what God wants or has for you.

  2. The LORD told Gideon, “With these 300 men I will rescue you and give you victory over the Midianites. Send all the others home.”

Listen to what the Midianites are saying, and you will be greatly encouraged. Then you will be eager to attack.” So Gideon took Purah and went down to the edge of the enemy camp.

His companion answered, “Your dream can mean only one thing—God has given Gideon son of Joash, the Israelite, victory over Midian and all its allies!” (‭Judges‬ ‭7‬:‭7, 11, 14‬ NLT)

Praise GOD!!!! Obedience, Faith, Trust,Praise and Boldness, is what you need for the victory!

Five of you will chase a hundred, and a hundred of you will chase ten thousand! All your enemies will fall beneath your sword. (‭Leviticus‬ ‭26‬:‭8‬ NLT)

HALLELUJAH, HE HAS WON THE VICTORY!

  3. As Bishop Foster and Pastor Watts gave us the charge yesterday, we now move forward taking this City head on with our battle cry “Yeah”. Let no doubt or fear be within you, as Gideon and Purah found out that if God is on our side nothing can stop us. Let us be confident and bold as we begin our move to Phase II.

  4. 6 And the number of them that lapped, putting their hand to their mouth, were three hundred men: but all the rest of the people bowed down upon their knees to drink water.

7 And the Lord said unto Gideon, By the three hundred men that lapped will I save you, and deliver the Midianites into thine hand: and let all the other people go every man unto his place.

  5. 9. And it came to pass the same night, that the Lord said unto him, Arise, get thee down unto the host; for I have delivered it into thine hand.

    10. But if thou fear to go down, go thou with Phurah thy servant down to the host:

    11. And thou shalt hear what they say; and afterward shall thine hands be strengthened to go down unto the host. Then went he down with Phurah his servant unto the outside of the armed men that were in the host.

    15. And it was so, when Gideon heard the telling of the dream, and the interpretation thereof, that he worshipped, and returned into the host of Israel, and said, Arise; for the Lord hath delivered into your hand the host of Midian

Even the bravest of warriors needs encouragement and reassurance from time to time. We know what our goal is and we know that God is on our side, but let us continue to encourage and reassure one another so that we keep our faith high and impact Fort Worth together!

  6. 2 And the Lord said unto Gideon, The people that are with thee are too many for me to give the Midianites into their hands, lest Israel vaunt themselves against me, saying, Mine own hand hath saved me.

Sometimes, we are too blessed for our own good. We may pray for a better job, a raise or more responsibility at work. Then when the rewards come, do we take the credit for our own actions or give God the glory that is due Him? I have learned that I am nothing without the help of the Lord. I cannot take my next breathe without His help. How then am I capable of anything without His help? Sometimes these lessons are hard to learn. There were times in my life that I had to keep repeating the same lesson until I finally learned the value of the lesson.

  7. 2 And the Lord said unto Gideon, The people that are with thee are too many for me to give the Midianites into their hands, lest Israel vaunt themselves against me, saying, Mine own hand hath saved me.

  8. Unity

17 And he said unto them, Look on me, and do likewise: and, behold, when I come to the outside of the camp, it shall be that, as I do, so shall ye do.

Yesterday as we turned on chapel creek I noticed one of the streets we passed to get to our church was named “unity Dr.”

I’ve noticed this street before but I thought about how important it is for us to walk in unity. That what our man and women of God does we do. For when we walk in unity not only are we able to posses the promise but everyone is covered. Meaning no one is lagging behind to become prey for the enemy.

  9. 13 And when Gideon was come, behold, there was a man that told a dream unto his fellow, and said, Behold, I dreamed a dream, and, lo, a cake of barley bread tumbled into the host of Midian, and came unto a tent, and smote it that it fell, and overturned it, that the tent lay along.

It seems as though hearing this dream, and how they were convinced that its Gideon, for Gideon to hear that I beleive it gave him confidence to hear that the people had confidence in him. Its so evident when we are anointed to do a work for God, because people can see that God is using us, maybe they dont say it out loud, but they know, because someone is always watching.

YESTERDAY WAS AMAZING EXPERIENCE, ITS JUST GONNA GET BETTER AND BETTER, GOD IS GONNA DO MIGHTY THINGS IN POFW, MORE THAN THE MIGHTY THINGS HES ALREADY DOING!

  10. THE ARMY IS IN CROWD

Where there is a crowd, many attitudes and spirits are present. Which births multitudes of opinions. When GOD sets forth a plan, it is wise for man to leave the plan alone and execute the plan to the smallest detail. GOD told Gideon to shrink his crowd or did he tell him to pull an army out of his crowd.

There are usually 2 perspectives in every situation. In this testimony we could say that GOD shrunk Gideons army or we could say that GOD pulled an army out of the crowd. Either way we look at it we are challenged to GROW our FAITH in GOD.

What can GOD pull out of your abundance today. What ARMY is in the crowd?

Who is GOD raising to the TOP?

    iRepent
    iPraise
    iPray
    iWork
    iGive
    iReap

  11. 6 And the number of them that lapped, putting their hand to their mouth, were three hundred men: but all the rest of the people bowed down upon their knees to drink water.

300 men Gideon had; when really all that it takes is one. I know from what I have seen happen over the course of months that God has given Pastor the men needed; when they were needed and where they were needed. We have taken possession of the land and remained unified in our fight for the city of Fort Worth and surrounding areas. Now I need to get into prayer and see where God will have me in His house. How can I help to make the kingdom grow. I want to be one of the 300. Discipleship class here I come……..Thank you Jesus…..Amen!!!!

  12. 6 And the number of them that lapped, putting their hand to their mouth, were three hundred men: but all the rest of the people bowed down upon their knees to drink water.

7 And the Lord said unto Gideon, By the three hundred men that lapped will I save you, and deliver the Midianites into thine hand: and let all the other people go every man unto his place.

The way you do everything reflects who you are, who you believe in, who you trust, and who is your God!! Stand up tall and be the one that the Lord is using. Don’t be the ones that God will not use….Jesus is the only path that will save us. Jesus will guide you to do everything ONLY if you let the Lord use you!!!

  13. And his fellow answered and said, This is nothing else save the sword of Gideon the son of Joash, a man of Israel: for into his hand hath God delivered Midian, and all the host.

15 And it was so, when Gideon heard the telling of the dream, and the interpretation thereof, that he worshipped, and returned into the host of Israel, and said, Arise; for the Lord hath delivered into your hand the host of Midian.

In these verses we see God’s hand at work by giving a dream to the enemy and causing them to be afraid of getting his army. Also we see the faith of Gideon who won realizing what God had done begin to worship and declare that the victory was his! We need not be afraid of the enemy because we are not fighting this battle God is fighting our battle and he will go before us to give us the victory!

  14. 9 That night the Lord said, “Get up! Go down into the Midianite camp, for I have given you victory over them! (NLT)

God has given us victory, now we must follow our man of God and do just as He does like Gideon told his men as they went into battle. God is raising up an army that is obedient, submitted to Pastor and the vision, that is on alert even while not on duty (like the men who drank water from their hands), and that has no fear in facing the enemy because we know that the Lord is on our side and has already declared the victory!

  15. 5 So he brought down the people unto the water: and the Lord said unto Gideon, Every one that lappeth of the water with his tongue, as a dog lappeth, him shalt thou set by himself; likewise every one that boweth down upon his knees to drink.
6 And the number of them that lapped, putting their hand to their mouth, were three hundred men: but all the rest of the people bowed down upon their knees to drink water.

    The position of readiness

How are you positioned in life? What are you set to do? The way that these men positioned themselves was to be ready to fight. You can tell a lot about someone just by how they position/present themselves. By growing we position ourselves to do more and be more. So let’s GROW.

  16. Lets position ourselves so we can grow, grow, grow. Praying and fasting for more and more souls. God is able.

  17. 2 And the Lord said unto Gideon, The people that are with thee are too many for me to give the Midianites into their hands, lest Israel vaunt themselves against me, saying, Mine own hand hath saved me.

Trust the resources of God. Maybe the reason some of us do not have an abundance is because we wouldn’t give God the credit but we give God glory when he comes through when we have naught. The lord knows when we have enough for victory.

  18. 2 And the Lord said unto Gideon, The people that are with thee are too many for me to give the Midianites into their hands, lest Israel vaunt themselves against me, saying, Mine own hand hath saved me.

Sometines we are faced with challenges that are way out of our league, something to big for us but not big enough for God. It is all that God may get glory and honor and get the credit. The Lord knows the heart of all men and knows what we are capable of. Trust in Him when the dream, vision and or plan is to big; if we do our part right he willntake care of the battle.

  19. 2 And the Lord said unto Gideon, The people that are with thee are too many for me to give the Midianites into their hands, lest Israel vaunt themselves against me, saying, Mine own hand hath saved me.

The Lord knows the thought and intent of man’s heart and orchestrates a victory that will prevent them from boasting about themselves. Our boast is in the Lord! 2 Cor 10:17 He is the one who brings victory and blessings.

  20. 7The LORD told Gideon, “With these 300 men I will rescue you and give you victory over the Midianites. Send all the others home.”

The Lord only needs a small army to get the job done. We at POFW are a small army but we too will get the job done. We’ll reach this city and spread his word. Our army of faith will GROW!

  21. 7 And the Lord said unto Gideon, By the three hundred men that lapped will I save you, and deliver the Midianites into thine hand: and let all the other people go every man unto his place.

Hallelujah if he can do it 4 he can do the same thing to us

  22. Judges 7:2, “And the LORD said unto Gideon, The people that are with thee are too many for me to give the Midianites into their hands, lest Israel vaunt themselves against me, saying, Mine own hand hath saved me.”

God wants the Glory for saving His people out of the hand of the enemy.

Eph. 2:8-9 says, “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.

God wants the Glory for saving His people. It’s by His GRACE that we are saved through faith.
Thank You JESUS ! I give You the Glory for saving me !

  23. This chapter is amazing you probably think you know what is the big deal about the man bowing down to drink what’s the big deal about that? The more I studied it was a sign of fear and that they we’re cautious of there surroundings because they were at war and they didn’t want to be caught off guard. The others that lappeth the water was chosen. They won the battle even though only 300 was chosen to fight in the battle. They won the battle the battle is the lords!

  24. “And the Lord said unto Gideon, The people that are with thee are too many for me to give the Midianites into their hands, lest Israel vaunt themselves against me, saying, Mine own hand hath saved me.” The word of God (Jesus) identified that the opportunity for pride needed to be removed. Self-righteousness (haughtiness) will always say look what I/we did; whereas humbleness will say look what God did. Dear God, bless us with humility and reverence. God Bless America, Israel, Jerusalem, and you all in Jesus name, Amen!

  25. “Now therefore go to, proclaim in the ears of the people, saying, Whosoever is fearful and afraid, let him return and depart early from mount Gilead. And there returned of the people twenty and two thousand; and there remained ten thousand.” The Lord identified many were full of fear; however they were still there. Their faith in the Lord was obviously stronger than their fear, which contributed too why they were there. God help us that we may possess more faith and less fear, in Jesus name.

  26. 6 And the number of them that lapped, putting their hand to their mouth, were three hundred men: but all the rest of the people bowed down upon their knees to drink water.

    Are you ready?

It was there readiness to war, to stay focus and not let there guard down in the battle field that gave them the opportunity to be what God used to deliver Israel.

As a former Marine, we are taught to train as if we were truly in combat. From the moment that we enter the assault vehicles until we return home from training, we are to eat on alert, sleep in shifts, Always carry your loaded weapon every were you go.
On patrol, your earn to do everything with your left hand to no take your finger off the trigger. It’s just what we do can make the difference of making it or not.

If the devil is 24 hrs, we also need to be on alert at all time.

  27. iLove to grow in the Word
2 And the Lord said unto Gideon, The people that are with thee are too many for me to give the Midianites into their hands, lest Israel vaunt themselves against me, saying, Mine own hand hat

Gods ways are not always the way we would desire, but they are always the best ways

  28. Judges 7:11 (NLT)
11 Listen to what the Midianites are saying, and you will be greatly encouraged. Then you will be eager to attack.”
So Gideon took Purah and went down to the edge of the enemy camp.

Listen to what the enemy is saying.

The devil tried his hardest to prevent the Pentecostals from moving in to our new building. Week after week brought challenges at the job site and trials, and tests came to the saints. He tried to destroy us, prevent us, but as Bro GREG Randall preached “the enemy underestimated our response!”

Listen to the whispers of the enemy. Eavesdrop on his private conversation and you are sure to hear him speaking of PoFW. He is saying they are powerful, they are warriors, they are favored, and God is on their side!

  29. Sometimes God will test the church. And he’ll see who are really the ones that are faithful and willing. Even a small gesture can show a persons heart and intentions.
Testing to see for the ones that just don’t got it…

  30. 3 Now therefore go to, proclaim in the ears of the people, saying, Whosoever is fearful and afraid, let him return and depart early from mount Gilead. And there returned of the people twenty and two thousand; and there remained ten thousand.

This reminded me of Matthew 22:14 KJV
“For many are called, but few are chosen.”

  31. 9 That night the Lord said, “Get up! Go down into the Midianite camp, for I have given you victory over them! 10 But if you are afraid to attack, go down to the camp with your servant Purah.

Who shall we fear?! God is with us and he has given us the victory! We took our land now it’s time to get up, rise up more and go get the people in this community. We have the victory over any devil that tries to stop us and we will reach out to this community in Jesus name! It’s time to get up and go in Jesus name!

  32. 7 And the Lord said unto Gideon, By the three hundred men that lapped will I save you, and deliver the Midianites into thine hand: and let all the other people go every man unto his place.

It doesn’t matter how the much the numbers in life seem stacked against you. With God on your side, the odds will be in your favor!

  33. God doesn’t need a standing army to win a battle. He just uses whom he chooses. May each of us operate in the gifts and ministries that God chose for us. This will insure victory in our lives and in the world.

  34. 9 And it came to pass the same night, that the Lord said unto him, Arise, get thee down unto the host; for I have delivered it into thine hand.

10 But if thou fear to go down, go thou with Phurah thy servant down to the host:

11 And thou shalt hear what they say; and afterward shall thine hands be strengthened to go down unto the host. Then went he down with Phurah his servant unto the outside of the armed men that were in the host.

  35. Three hundred soldiers with torches covered by jars in their left hands and trumpets in their right hands. Where are the swords and shields? They don’t have room in their hands to hold their weapons. At the designated moment, the soldiers hold their positions, simultaneously blow on their trumpets and break their jars so the torches flare; then they roar, “The sword of the Lord and of Gideon!” Their terrified enemies turn on each other with their own swords, and 120,000 swordsman are killed that day (Jdg 8:10). There can be no doubt who the victor of this battle was and it is not the little band of three hundred Isrealite soldiers who aren’t even holding weapons. It’s not Gideon but it’s the Lord he serves.

  36. When we step out of the way we can see things that only God can do. Too often we put ourselves in position to get credit the kudos for a job well done when it was really Jesus all along

  37. 5 So he brought down the people unto the water: and the Lord said unto Gideon, Every one that lappeth of the water with his tongue, as a dog lappeth, him shalt thou set by himself; likewise every one that boweth down upon his knees to drink.

This is a great example of 30/60/90 fold ministries. Some people are not cut out to be on the forefront of ministry interceding in spiritual warfare for victories, or giving of themselves 100% to ministry. But they maybe 100% in giving financially. We are all fitly joined together and it’s important that we all learn our place, and what skills, giftings and ministry to be involved in that we can give 100% to.

  38. 6. And the number of them that lapped, putting their hand to their mouth, were three hundred men: but all the rest of the people bowed down upon their knees to drink water. 7. And the LORD said unto Gid’-e-on, By the three hundred men that lapped will I save you, and deliver the Mid’-I-an-ites into thine hand: and let all the other people go every man unto his place. I LOVE YOU JESUS !! I GLORIFY YOURE NAME !! YOU ARE HIGH AND LIFTED UP !!

  39. “The LORD said to Gideon, “You have too many warriors with you. If I let all of you fight the Midianites, the Israelites will boast to me that they saved themselves by their own strength.”
    ‭‭Judges‬ ‭7:2‬ ‭NLT‬‬

The Lord is worthy of all the glory and the honor! We have Victory because of Him and Him alone.
