Judges 10

1 And after Abimelech there arose to defend Israel Tola the son of Puah, the son of Dodo, a man of Issachar; and he dwelt in Shamir in mount Ephraim.

2 And he judged Israel twenty and three years, and died, and was buried in Shamir.

3 And after him arose Jair, a Gileadite, and judged Israel twenty and two years.

4 And he had thirty sons that rode on thirty ass colts, and they had thirty cities, which are called Havothjair unto this day, which are in the land of Gilead.

5 And Jair died, and was buried in Camon.

6 And the children of Israel did evil again in the sight of the Lord, and served Baalim, and Ashtaroth, and the gods of Syria, and the gods of Zidon, and the gods of Moab, and the gods of the children of Ammon, and the gods of the Philistines, and forsook the Lord, and served not him.

7 And the anger of the Lord was hot against Israel, and he sold them into the hands of the Philistines, and into the hands of the children of Ammon.

8 And that year they vexed and oppressed the children of Israel: eighteen years, all the children of Israel that were on the other side Jordan in the land of the Amorites, which is in Gilead.

9 Moreover the children of Ammon passed over Jordan to fight also against Judah, and against Benjamin, and against the house of Ephraim; so that Israel was sore distressed.

10 And the children of Israel cried unto the Lord, saying, We have sinned against thee, both because we have forsaken our God, and also served Baalim.

11 And the Lord said unto the children of Israel, Did not I deliver you from the Egyptians, and from the Amorites, from the children of Ammon, and from the Philistines?

12 The Zidonians also, and the Amalekites, and the Maonites, did oppress you; and ye cried to me, and I delivered you out of their hand.

13 Yet ye have forsaken me, and served other gods: wherefore I will deliver you no more.

14 Go and cry unto the gods which ye have chosen; let them deliver you in the time of your tribulation.

15 And the children of Israel said unto the Lord, We have sinned: do thou unto us whatsoever seemeth good unto thee; deliver us only, we pray thee, this day.

16 And they put away the strange gods from among them, and served the Lord: and his soul was grieved for the misery of Israel.

17 Then the children of Ammon were gathered together, and encamped in Gilead. And the children of Israel assembled themselves together, and encamped in Mizpeh.

18 And the people and princes of Gilead said one to another, What man is he that will begin to fight against the children of Ammon? he shall be head over all the inhabitants of Gilead.

  1. Blessed be the name of the Lord blessed be His name. I Glorify You God, I try to honor You God, You are my savior, my Heavenly Father, oh yes you are. My healer my protector my existence of living. I love you Jesus.

  2. 11 And the Lord said unto the children of Israel, Did not I deliver you from the Egyptians, and from the Amorites, from the children of Ammon, and from the Philistines?

12 The Zidonians also, and the Amalekites, and the Maonites, did oppress you; and ye cried to me, and I delivered you out of their hand.

13 Yet ye have forsaken me, and served other gods: wherefore I will deliver you no more.

14 Go and cry unto the gods which ye have chosen; let them deliver you in the time of your tribulation.

  3. Verses 13-16 AMP “Yet you have abandoned (rejected) Me and served other gods; therefore I will no longer rescue you. Go, cry out to the gods you have chosen; let them rescue you in your time of distress.” The Israelites said to the Lord, “We have sinned, do to us whatever seems good to You; only please rescue us this day.” So they removed the foreign gods from among them and served the Lord; and He could bear the misery of Israel no longer.” The Lord reminded/questioned Israel about everything that he had brought them through and all the victories he had given them; yet they still turned their backs on Him. It must have been a harsh reality when Israel realized that the Lord would no longer rescue them (hear their cry). There are so many in this City who do not know who they can cry out to in the time of trouble. We (POFW) must show them that hope (Jesus) through gentleness as Pastor spoke of last night.

  4. 6 And the children of Israel did evil again in the sight of the Lord, and served Baalim, and Ashtaroth, and the gods of Syria, and the gods of Zidon, and the gods of Moab, and the gods of the children of Ammon, and the gods of the Philistines, and forsook the Lord, and served not him.

We should not return to that which the Lord has delivered us from, but serve only God and follow his commandments.

  5. 16. Then the Israelites put aside their foreign gods and served the LORD. And he was grieved by their misery. NLT

Oh, how many times I have failed Him, but He saw my misery, had compassion on me and showed me gentleness!

  6. STEADFAST IN YOUR REPENTANCE

16 And they put away the strange gods from among them, and served the Lord: and his soul was grieved for the misery of Israel.

Repentance is an action, but a place to abide in. Even though GOD had turned HIS back on them, they still honored their state of repentance. They had sinned! And they confessed it to the LORD. HE was fed up with them constantly turning to other gods. When they repented they stayed even though HE had turned from them. This grieved our LORD. Why do we still turn to our friends, social media, money, what ever we use to “aide” us in our distress? Why do we not lift our voices to the ONE TRUE LIVING GOD? Whether it be to praise or cry out…? Turn to the LORD and stay steadfast in your repentance. Use markers, stones, build an altar or some form of sign to remind your house that this is a place of repentance, a place of turning!!! Where we continue to turn to the glorious face of our ALMIGHTY. A place to instantly humble us and bring about a spiritual check to make sure GOD is still sovereign in our hearts and lives. Keep us LORD.

  7. 11 And the Lord said unto the children of Israel, Did not I deliver you from the Egyptians, and from the Amorites, from the children of Ammon, and from the Philistines?
12 The Zidonians also, and the Amalekites, and the Maonites, did oppress you; and ye cried to me, and I delivered you out of their hand.
13 Yet ye have forsaken me, and served other gods: wherefore I will deliver you no more.

Washing your hands of toxic people.

Sometimes you get someone in your life that you just have to let go. Not because of them as a person, but for the choices that they make. I know I’ve had to do this. But sometimes for people to grow you must let them struggle for a season. God will test us through this way. He will stay quite to test our faith in him. And this is where are faith must be at its strongest. So let’s GROW in our faith.

  8. 11 The Lord replied, “Did I not rescue you from the Egyptians, the Amorites, the Ammonites, the Philistines,
12 the Sidonians, the Amalekites, and the Maonites? When they oppressed you, you cried out to me for help, and I rescued you. (NLT)

Time and time again Isreal falls away with each generation that rises. We must teach each generation under us the ways of the Lord, tell the testimonies of how good God’s been, and lead by example. What a shame it would be to look back generations from now and see ruins; no, I want to see an army of children rising up who know how to cry out for God in the good and bad, who know who their God is and that there is no one greater. God save my generation and those to follow!! Jesus today You will save me, my generation, and the children that follow after!

  9. 13 But you have forsaken me and served other gods, so I will no longer save you. 14 Go and cry out to the gods you have chosen. Let them save you when you are in trouble!”

  10. 13 Yet ye have forsaken me, and served other gods: wherefore I will deliver you no more.

14 Go and cry unto the gods which ye have chosen; let them deliver you in the time of your tribulation.

How many times I have cried to other gods and not the one true God. I must stay steadfast in Him and His word. To many generations have gone by without God in their life. I know that I must raise Dakota up to be a mighty man of valor. I don’t want him to know the world like I have known the world. So I will raise him up to know the kingdom and protect him the best I can with God on my side. I pray Dakota will only know of worldly things and not partake in the world……….Thank you Jesus………..Amen!!!

  11. iLove to Grow in the Word

We might think that it is strange for the Children of Israel to serve idols and we might say in our minds that we would never serve idols, but the truth is that there are many American Idols that we serve today that are the exact same gods as were back then. The only difference is that today those idols go by different names.

  12. 13 Yet ye have forsaken me, and served other gods: wherefore I will deliver you no more.

14 Go and cry unto the gods which ye have chosen; let them deliver you in the time of your tribulation.

I can only imagine this is how the Lord feels now with some people in this day and age as well. People do what they want, when they want and then expect God to be a “johnny on the spot” God answering their every whim.

Our actions determine who is god in our lives. If it is not GOD then don’t be alarmed when He doesn’t deliver us us of the mess we make.

  13. CHOOSE THIS DAY WHO YOU WILL SERVE

10 And the children of Israel cried unto the Lord, saying, We have sinned against thee, both because we have forsaken our God, and also served Baalim.

Every believer at one tome or another has failed the FAITH test, whether it be the FAITH of Salvation, the FAITH of Healing or the FAITH of Miracles. GOD allows to make choices and decisions so that our decisions that honor HIM are acts of Worship.

The FIRST step to RESTORATION is the confession of sin and the crying out for help from GOD. Notice the response from the LORD in this chapter. GOD did not immediately respond to them in answering their cry, but wanted to see if their heart and motives were pure. The LORD tested them by telling them to go ahead and call on their idols and other gods. The LORD tested their repentance; they could have become offended and said that GOD failed us, GOD doesnt care or even that GOD told them to worship the idols.

13 Yet ye have forsaken me, and served other gods: wherefore I will deliver you no more.
14 Go and cry unto the gods which ye have chosen; let them deliver you in the time of your tribulation.

However, they recognized the test, their motives were pure and their hunger for GOD was genuine. We too must pass the test of sincerity and hunger unto the LORD. It may seem that GOD does not care about our situation, however it may be a call to seek the LORD more passionately.

15 And the children of Israel said unto the Lord, We have sinned: do thou unto us whatsoever seemeth good unto thee; deliver us only, we pray thee, this day.
16 And they put away the strange gods from among them, and served the Lord: and his soul was grieved for the misery of Israel.

Choose to LIVE for GOD even if it seems for a season that GOD isn’t hearing you. HIS WORD declares that HE is there and we must exhibit a hunger to seek and please him.

  14. 13 Yet ye have forsaken me, and served other gods: wherefore I will deliver you no more.

14 Go and cry unto the gods which ye have chosen; let them deliver you in the time of your tribulation.

15 And the children of Israel said unto the Lord, We have sinned: do thou unto us whatsoever seemeth good unto thee; deliver us only, we pray thee, this day.
God does not play when it comes to idolatry. at that time in the Bible days it used to be idolatry as far as false gods but in today’s modern society idolatry takes many different forms. simply put anything that is put first before God is an idol we must not allow anything to take the place of God in our lives.

  15. Judges 10:10 & 15-16
    10) And the children of Israel cried unto the LORD, saying, We have sinned against thee, both because we have forsaken our God, and also served Baal-im.

    15) And the children of Israel said unto the LORD, We have sinned: do thou unto us whatsoever seemeth good unto thee; deliver us only, we pray thee, this day.
    16) And they put away the strange gods from among them, and served the LORD: and his soul was grieved for the misery of Israel.

2 Cor. 7:10 says, “For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of:…”

If it is “true crying out to God in repentance,” then it will be a heart change.
They confessed their sins. They submitted to God. They put away the strange gods. They served the LORD.

  16. 15 And the children of Israel said unto the Lord, We have sinned: do thou unto us whatsoever seemeth good unto thee; deliver us only, we pray thee, this day.

16 And they put away the strange gods from among them, and served the Lord: and his soul was grieved for the misery of Israel.

Hallelujah!!!! The prodigals are coming back and will be serving the Lord!!! The prodigals will be crying out to the Lord asking for forgiveness!!! It is time to GROW and reach a whole new community that may not know what to do in time of need. People are just waiting for an invitation that are willing to change their lives. Looking for hope!!! Prodigals and new souls ready to come and serve the Lord!!!

  17. 14 Go and cry out to the gods you have chosen! Let them rescue you in your hour of distress!”

Eventually the Lord tires of your sin. God will only hear your cries for so long, and then allows you to suffer for awhile. God will only return when you honestly repent and ask for forgiveness. One can only learn through suffering, like the old saying goes “no pain no gain”.

  18. 15 And the children of Israel said unto the Lord, We have sinned: do thou unto us whatsoever seemeth good unto thee; deliver us only, we pray thee, this day.
16 And they put away the strange gods from among them, and served the Lord: and his soul was grieved for the misery of Israel.

God was tired of their continual sinning and while he heard their cry, he didn’t deliver them immediately. He saw their plight and was grieved over it even while allowing them to stay in their troubles for a while longer. Some times we need a made up mind and determination to walk away from sin. A made up mind doesn’t go back as soon as you are delivered. It stays with God and works on making things better.

  19. Judges 10:11-13 (Message)

11 God answered the People of Israel: “When the Egyptians, Amorites, Ammonites, Philistines, Sidonians 12 —even Amalek and Midian!—oppressed you and you cried out to me for help, I saved you from them. 13 And now you’ve gone off and betrayed me, worshiping other gods. I’m not saving you anymore.

There comes a time when God says enough is enough. The people wouldn’t listen no matter how many warnings he sent them. He allowed the people to be oppressed but they still followed false gods.

God is merciful, loving, caring, forgiving, and longsuffering with us. He will do everything he can to save us but if we continue in sin eventually he will say ‘too late’.

Don’t let too late happen. Give God everything and watch him turn your life around.

  20. 13 Yet ye have forsaken me, and served other gods: wherefore I will deliver you no more.

We know god is a jealous god we also know. That God doesn’t like when we put other god’s above. Him.

  21. 10 Finally, they cried out to the Lord for help, saying, “We have sinned against you because we have abandoned you as our God and have served the images of Baal.”
11 The Lord replied, “Did I not rescue you from the Egyptians, the Amorites, the Ammonites, the Philistines, 12 the Sidonians, the Amalekites, and the Maonites? When they oppressed you, you cried out to me for help, and I rescued you.

We need to rise up generations that know the importance of repentance! Generation after generation they realize there mistake of serving another god but they never taught the next generation of repentance to not fall into the same sin. It’s happening now! Generations are rising up in sin instead of the in Jesus name! We’re in a new neighborhood that needs the generation to be turned in the right direction. In Jesus name it’s our time to teach the next generation the truth of Jesus Christ, his mercy and grace of repentance!

  22. 15 And the children of Israel said unto the Lord, We have sinned: do thou unto us whatsoever seemeth good unto thee; deliver us only, we pray thee, this day.

16 And they put away the strange gods from among them, and served the Lord: and his soul was grieved for the misery of Israel.

Repentance is the key! You can’t get forgiveness of your sins if you don’t ask for it. Jesus already paid the price for it and has already forgiven, but someone can’t be forgiven if they think they have done nothing wrong. Realize you have commited sin and then fall done on your face, ask for forgiveness and then turn away from it and don’t go back to it.

  23. It’s a sad day to get to the point where God says he will deliver you no more. This is why it’s vital to listen to and obey every word of God. There is a direct correlation between obedience and obtaining the victory. Every time the children of Israel were obedient, they conquered over their enemies.

  24. Chapter 10 mentions two judges Tola and Hair. It then prepares us to meet a man like Abimelech was born out of wedlock and rejected by his brothers.

Ambition must be subject to the will of God or.it corrupts.

  25. 15 And the children of Israel said unto the Lord, We have sinned: do thou unto us whatsoever seemeth good unto thee; deliver us only, we pray thee, this day.

16 And they put away the strange gods from among them, and served the Lord: and his soul was grieved for the misery of Israel.

How deep the Father’s love for us… I thought of that song. I thought if we could just for one glimpse catch a bit of How Much the Lord loves us. Time and time when we fail…oh but becuase of his goodness and mercy, his amazing womderful love. Could we capture the feeling of how much he grives for souls. Lord baptize us with that passion and zeal and that love. Break our hearts for what breaks yours. Help us to walk in faith and that our hearts may stay fixed on you.

  26. “Yet ye have forsaken me, and served other gods: wherefore I will deliver you no more.” The word of God (Jesus) identified there is a limit/line. One need only open one’s eyes and ears too hear all that is taking place today, which should be more than enough cause for one too seek God (Creator); as again there is a limit/line. Dear God (Judge), forgive us as a Nation so that we may unite in turning towards you, before you say; “I will deliver you no more”. May God Bless America, Israel, Jerusalem, and you all in Jesus name, Amen!

  27. “And they put away the strange gods from among them, and served the Lord: and his soul was grieved for the misery of Israel.” The Lord allowed the children of Israel to do as their heart desired, and also allowed them to face the consequences for their choices. There is no secret that the children of Israel, were chosen by the Lord; however we still read what befell them. God help us to see the consequences before it is too late, in Jesus name

  28. 13. Yet ye have forsaken me, and served other gods: wherefore I will deliver you no more. 14. Go and cry unto the gods which ye have chosen; let them deliver you in the time of your tribulation. 15. And the children of Is’-ra-el said unto the LORD, We have sinned: do thou unto us whatsoever seemeth good unto thee; deliver us only, we pray thee, this day. Don’t worship false gods !! Only the one true God !!

  29. 13 Yet ye have forsaken me, and served other gods: wherefore I will deliver you no more.

14 Go and cry unto the gods which ye have chosen; let them deliver you in the time of your tribulation.
God help.us to never turn our backs on you. We need to repent everyday for not pleasing God on doing things our way instead of his way. I’m not going to forsake the one true God that brought me from a mighty long way. Help us not to take Gods mercy for granted.

  30. 15 And the children of Israel said unto the Lord, We have sinned: do thou unto us whatsoever seemeth good unto thee; deliver us only, we pray thee, this day.

16 And they put away the strange gods from among them, and served the Lord: and his soul was grieved for the misery of Israel.

What strange God is in my life, if I call on it will it come to help?? I have to be careful not to put things or people before God! GOD IS A JEALOUSE GOD….Ex 34:14 For thou shalt worship no other god: for the LORD, who name is Jealous, is a jealous God:

Luke 4:8 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.

  31. v14. ….. ” For I am jealous over you with godly jealousy: for I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ”
    2 Corinthians 11:2

The LORD IS searching and yearning for those who will return HIS love.

  32. Another merry go round of worshipping God. It’s like the cycle never ends and it even continues today. May there be an awakening within the church and within the world.

  33. Verse 6 gives a long list of the false gods that the Isrealites worship. These false gods claim control over the fertility of the land and the agricultural economy. The Isrealites depend on successful crops in order to survive. Instead of relying on the one who miraculously gave them that land they turn to the neighboring fertility gods. So they combine worship of false gods and the one true God thinking they may have themselves covered. They are actually removing themselves from the covering of God. Their attraction to these powerless gods may seem foolish and offensive to us today. However, today’s false gods are no less attractive or fascinating, though they may be less obvious. Money, pleasures, success -anything that comes between us and our relationship with God- are false gods, idols just as much as the “Baals and the Ashtoreths”

  34. 13 Yet ye have forsaken me, and served other gods: wherefore I will deliver you no more.

Israel cried into God yet they kept their idols close by until after God said He would not deliver them from the bondage He gave them up to be held in because of their sin. It is interesting to see how in our humanity we remember the provision of God in our time of trouble yet we are much slower to remember relationship with Him. It is unwise to focus on what God does for us instead of our relationship with Him.

  35. 15 And the children of Israel said unto the Lord, We have sinned: do thou unto us whatsoever seemeth good unto thee; deliver us only, we pray thee, this day.

16 And they put away the strange gods from among them, and served the Lord: and his soul was grieved for the misery of Israel.

  36. “GOD answered the People of Israel: “When the Egyptians, Amorites, Ammonites, Philistines, Sidonians—even Amalek and Midian!—oppressed you and you cried out to me for help, I saved you from them. And now you’ve gone off and betrayed me, worshiping other gods. I’m not saving you anymore. Go ahead! Cry out for help to the gods you’ve chosen—let them get you out of the mess you’re in!”

The People of Israel said to GOD: “We’ve sinned. Do to us whatever you think best, but please, get us out of this!” Then they cleaned house of the foreign gods and worshiped only GOD. And GOD took Israel’s troubles to heart.”
    ‭‭Judges‬ ‭10:11-16‬ ‭MSG‬‬

It’s always I good thing to rid ourselves of sins and weights that that separate us from God. It is also encouraging to see that God’s mine was changed by their actions. There’s always hope.
