Ruth 3

1 Then Naomi her mother in law said unto her, My daughter, shall I not seek rest for thee, that it may be well with thee?

2 And now is not Boaz of our kindred, with whose maidens thou wast? Behold, he winnoweth barley to night in the threshingfloor.

3 Wash thyself therefore, and anoint thee, and put thy raiment upon thee, and get thee down to the floor: but make not thyself known unto the man, until he shall have done eating and drinking.

4 And it shall be, when he lieth down, that thou shalt mark the place where he shall lie, and thou shalt go in, and uncover his feet, and lay thee down; and he will tell thee what thou shalt do.

5 And she said unto her, All that thou sayest unto me I will do.

6 And she went down unto the floor, and did according to all that her mother in law bade her.

7 And when Boaz had eaten and drunk, and his heart was merry, he went to lie down at the end of the heap of corn: and she came softly, and uncovered his feet, and laid her down.

8 And it came to pass at midnight, that the man was afraid, and turned himself: and, behold, a woman lay at his feet.

9 And he said, Who art thou? And she answered, I am Ruth thine handmaid: spread therefore thy skirt over thine handmaid; for thou art a near kinsman.

10 And he said, Blessed be thou of the Lord, my daughter: for thou hast shewed more kindness in the latter end than at the beginning, inasmuch as thou followedst not young men, whether poor or rich.

11 And now, my daughter, fear not; I will do to thee all that thou requirest: for all the city of my people doth know that thou art a virtuous woman.

12 And now it is true that I am thy near kinsman: howbeit there is a kinsman nearer than I.

13 Tarry this night, and it shall be in the morning, that if he will perform unto thee the part of a kinsman, well; let him do the kinsman’s part: but if he will not do the part of a kinsman to thee, then will I do the part of a kinsman to thee, as the Lord liveth: lie down until the morning.

14 And she lay at his feet until the morning: and she rose up before one could know another. And he said, Let it not be known that a woman came into the floor.

15 Also he said, Bring the vail that thou hast upon thee, and hold it. And when she held it, he measured six measures of barley, and laid it on her: and she went into the city.

16 And when she came to her mother in law, she said, Who art thou, my daughter? And she told her all that the man had done to her.

17 And she said, These six measures of barley gave he me; for he said to me, Go not empty unto thy mother in law.

18 Then said she, Sit still, my daughter, until thou know how the matter will fall: for the man will not be in rest, until he have finished the thing this day.

  1. 16. And when she came to her mother in law, she said, Who art thou, my daughter? And she told her all that the man had done to her. 17. And she said, These six measures of barley gave he me; for he said to me, Go not empty unto thy mother in law. 18. Then said she, Sit still, my daughter, until thou know how the matter will fall: for the man will not be in rest, until he have finished the thing this day. I lift your name high JESUS !!!!

  2. Verse 18 NLT “Then Naomi said to her, “Just be patient, my daughter, until we hear what happens. The man won’t rest until he has settled things today.” Ruth was obedient, even in her waiting. Waiting and being patient is not always the easiest thing to do; but as Isaiah 40:31 AMP says “But those who wait for the Lord [who expect, look for, and hope in Him] Will gain new strength and renew their power; They will lift up their wings [and rise up close to God] like eagles [rising toward the sun]; They will run and not become weary, They will walk and not grow tired.”

  3. 10 And he said, Blessed be thou of the Lord, my daughter: for thou hast shewed more kindness in the latter end than at the beginning, inasmuch as thou followedst not young men, whether poor or rich.

11 And now, my daughter, fear not; I will do to thee all that thou requirest: for all the city of my people doth know that thou art a virtuous woman.

  4. NLT
    5. “I will do everything you say,” Ruth replied. – Obedient

    9. “Who are you?” he asked. “I am your servant Ruth,” she replied. “Spread the corner of your covering over me, for you are my family redeemer.” – Submitted

    11. Now don’t worry about a thing, my daughter. I will do what is necessary, for everyone in town knows you are a virtuous woman. – Virtuous

    15. Then Boaz said to her, “Bring your cloak and spread it out.” He measured six scoops of barley into the cloak and placed it on her back. Then he returned to the town. – Blessed with Increase

    18. Then Naomi said to her, “Just be patient, my daughter, until we hear what happens. The man won’t rest until he has settled things today.” – Patient

If we will lay ourselves at our Redeemer’s feet and live obedient, submitted, virtuous and patient, we too will be blessed with increase and the knowledge that He will take care of us.

  5. 18 Then said she, Sit still, my daughter, until thou know how the matter will fall: for the man will not be in rest, until he have finished the thing this day.

Ruth hasn’t expressed any sort of disappointment regarding Boaz . She’s made aware that she’ll be taken cared of by Boaz or someone else regardless her waiting for an answer she continues to be faithful.

  6. 5 And she said unto her, All that thou sayest unto me I will do.

The daughter told her mother, I will do all that you told me to do. wow! what great teaching, to do everything that your parents tell you to do!

Unfortunately we live in a time were parents are disrespected and talked back to, this is why we have such bad parents now. They are the grown-up disrespectful children that did not obey their parents. Because they refuse correction and discipline they grew up without any structure, and there descendants are suffering for it.

  7. 1 Then Naomi her mother in law said unto her, My daughter, shall I not seek rest for thee, that it may be well with thee?

Oh to have those godly influences in our lives… Those that keep their eyes on us and help to fill our needs. Thank you, Jesus. You are good.

  8. 7 And when Boaz had eaten and drunk, and his heart was merry, he went to lie down at the end of the heap of corn: and she came softly, and uncovered his feet, and laid her down.

8 And it came to pass at midnight, that the man was afraid, and turned himself: and, behold, a woman lay at his feet.

9 And he said, Who art thou? And she answered, I am Ruth thine handmaid: spread therefore thy skirt over thine handmaid; for thou art a near kinsman.

when we wholeheartedly present ourselves to Jesus he will forgive us our sins fill us with the Holy Ghost as he has promised.

  9. 9 And he said, Who art thou? And she answered, I am Ruth thine handmaid: spread therefore thy skirt over thine handmaid; for thou art a near kinsman.
10 And he said, Blessed be thou of the Lord, my daughter: for thou hast shewed more kindness in the latter end than at the beginning, inasmuch as thou followedst not young men, whether poor or rich.
11 And now, my daughter, fear not; I will do to thee all that thou requirest: for all the city of my people doth know that thou art a virtuous woman.

  10. People are always looking…

11 And now, my daughter, fear not; I will do to thee all that thou requirest: for all the city of my people doth know that thou art a virtuous woman.

It may not be wanted or warranted but people are watching us. What kind of example are we providing? I hope to be not be found wanting. I hope to provide an example for people to be proud to follow.

  11. 10 And he said, Blessed be thou of the Lord, my daughter: for thou hast shewed more kindness in the latter end than at the beginning, inasmuch as thou followedst not young men, whether poor or rich.

11 And now, my daughter, fear not; I will do to thee all that thou requirest: for all the city of my people doth know that thou art a virtuous woman.
Boaz blessed Ruth because she was a Godly virtuous woman. Her kindness had overwhelmed Boaz and he gave her everything . If we are pleasing to God and obedient to him we should receive the same blessing that Ruth received.

  12. 5 “I will do everything you say,” Ruth replied. (NLT)

How many times have we said these words to someone? Probably not too many times. From what I’ve seen obedience hasn’t hurt anyone, instead has brought blessings and prosperity. So why not daily practice it and do everything God and our authority figures instruct us…? Looks simple, sounds simple, must really be that simple. Too bad we sometimes let pride take away the easiness of it; who knows the greatness and blessings that would come of it!

  13. 1 Then Naomi her mother in law said unto her, My daughter, shall I not seek rest for thee, that it may be well with thee?

Instructions from the older generation to the younger generation is so important. I feel this concept is lacking in today’s generation.

    Titus 2:3 “The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things;
4 That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children,
5 To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.”

  14. THE BELIEVERS GREATEST ASSET

18 Then said she, Sit still, my daughter, until thou know how the matter will fall: for the man will not be in rest, until he have finished the thing this day.

GOD is THE Creator and he works in HIS time on HIS terms with HIS resources. The past 36 months has taught me much in this regard.

The FIRST requirement for Ruth was to obey Naomi whom she had submitted herself to. She went into a very risky situation at the instruction of Naomi. We learn that OBEDIENCE is not the only step in the process. FAITH, HOPE and TRUST must be activated following OBEDIENCE.

THE BELIEVERS GREATEST ASSET is PATIENCE to allow the process of our LORD JESUS to be fulfilled. Naomi gave Ruth some very valuable instructions to heed as she left the feet of Boaz.

    Sit STILL:

Psalm 46:10 Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.

Exodus 14:13 And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which he will shew to you to day: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to day, ye shall see them again no more for ever.

2 Chronicles 20:17 Ye shall not need to fight in this battle: set yourselves, stand ye still, and see the salvation of the Lord with you, O Judah and Jerusalem: fear not, nor be dismayed; to morrow go out against them: for the Lord will be with you.

  15. CHRISTIAN GREETINGS

4 And, behold, Boaz came from Bethlehem, and said unto the reapers, The Lord be with you. And they answered him, The Lord bless thee.

    Lets practice this:

Greeting: “The LORD be with you”

    Response: “The LORD Bless you”

    MSG

4 A little later Boaz came out from Bethlehem, greeting his harvesters, “God be with you!” They replied, “And God bless you!”

JESUS the LORD be with you!

  16. 10 And he said, Blessed be thou of the Lord, my daughter: for thou hast shewed more kindness in the latter end than at the beginning, inasmuch as thou followedst not young men, whether poor or rich.

11 And now, my daughter, fear not; I will do to thee all that thou requirest: for all the city of my people doth know that thou art a virtuous woman.

She didnt care about the young men or riches, she cared about Naomi, and she worked everyday for to make sure they ate, she was so dedicated to her mother inlaw that she didnt complain, and God blessed her with Boaz, he knew what she was about, he kept an eye out for her, he knew she didnt go running after riches or young men, she was virtuous and that was impressive to him, I beleive he was already in love with her, God had this arrangement in motion from the start! God is so awesome .

  17. 11 And now, my daughter, fear not; I will do to thee all that thou requirest: for all the city of my people doth know that thou art a virtuous woman.

When we (me) show kindness to others; it will be shown back to you. Ruth showed Boaz that even though she was not an Israelite, that through her mother in law God had a place for her. He showed her that when love is shown by someone; it will be sent back to them. Naomi and Boaz showed her love and she showed it back to her. God will use any situation to show His love and will use anyone to get that message through.

Know therefore that the Lord thy God, he is God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations; Deu 7:9

    Thank you Jesus…….Amen!!!

  18. 1 Then Naomi her mother in law said unto her, My daughter, shall I not seek rest for thee, that it may be well with thee?

  19. 5 And she said unto her, All that thou sayest unto me I will do.

I think we’ve seen obedience blessed enough times for it to become a our own desire!

  20. 18 Then Naomi said to her, “Just be patient, my daughter, until we hear what happens. The man won’t rest until he has settled things today.”

Patience, a virtue that seems so difficult for some. How quickly one can lose their patience with others. Waiting in line, traffic jams, or a problem that has yet to be answered. God teaches us to be patient, and good things will happen.

Psalm 33:20 We wait for the Lord; he is our deliverer and shield.

  21. 11 And now, my daughter, fear not; I will do to thee all that thou requirest: for all the city of my people doth know that thou art a virtuous woman.

A good reputation is more valuable than we realize. Ruth may not have known the people of the town were watching her and talking about her to one another, but it certainly seems they were-according to Boaz. He was impressed that she didn’t chase after the young men looking for a husband. Instead she did things proper although she may not have understood why. This is so important today for our young adults to do things proper – God’s way – in looking for a marriage, even if you may not understand everything you’re asked to do. To have a Godly Christian spouse, there is a right and wrong to go about it. The first prayer that should be prayed is that God bring this special person into your life as you labor for the kingdom! Be serving God, not searching for this person. You want to match spiritually first! Let God and Pastor lead you in the right direction as Ruth allowed Naomi and Boaz to direct her.

  22. Ruth 3:18, “Then said she, Sit still, my daughter, until thou know how the matter will fall: for the man will not be in rest, until he have finished the thing this day.”

Patience! It’s hard for all of us at times to have Patience.
When we find ourselves in a dilemma, the best thing we can do is “Sit Still” be patience, and see how the matter will fall, watch how God’s going to work it out.

  23. iLove to Grow in the Word

“The LORD bless you, my daughter!” Boaz exclaimed. “You are showing even more family loyalty now than you did before, for you have not gone after a younger man, whether rich or poor.”
    ‭‭Ruth‬ ‭3:10‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Wow, I got part of the revelation as I read this. Ruth chose to be obedient and she was willing to marry a man that wasnt even her choice. How many young people would be that obedient in today’s society. Pastor tells many young people I don’t think that’s a good idea, and wow you would think that it was the end of the world and the apocalypse was coming. Ruth was faithful to her mother-in-law. God would bless her mightily and in the end, Jesus himself would be born from her.

  24. 18 Then said she, Sit still, my daughter, until thou know how the matter will fall: for the man will not be in rest, until he have finished the thing this day.

There are two things I see happening in this verse, one is that Ruth in order to receive her blessing, she needed to listen to the advice of her mother in law. And she also needed to wait. Waiting can be the hardest part in our walk with God sometimes. We don’t feel like we are making anything happen but sitting still but God wants us to trust in him like Ruth had to trust in Boaz. When we trust him to do the work for us, he won’t fail us.

The second thing I see from this scripture, this is for everyone but I am aiming at guys in particular. Don’t procrastinate! When you say you are gonna do something, do it. Don’t hesitate on the promises you make to people and the work you need to do. The more you procrastinate the more time you waste in your life. Don’t procrastinate on the things that matter in your life, especially working for the kingdom of God, or providing/taking care of your family.

  25. Now don’t worry about a thing, my daughter. I will do what is necessary, for everyone in town knows you are a virtuous woman.
    Ruth 3:11 NLT
    http://bible.com/116/rut.3.11.NLT

It reminded me of last nights word that bro Morgan shared. We shall know one by their fruits. It was well known that ruth was a virtous woman. The same thing should be said of the children of God, that we are people of good report.

  26. Ruth 3:5-6 (Modern English Version)
5 She said to her, “All that you say to me I will do.” 6 So she went down to the threshing floor and did all that her mother-in-law had instructed.

Simple obedience is all it takes to open the door to the miraculous. Had Ruth protested she would have missed her opportunity. Yet because she obeyed she put into motion the event that would lead to her being part of the Christ lineage.

  27. 11 And now, my daughter, fear not; I will do to thee all that thou requirest: for all the city of my people doth know that thou art a virtuous woman.
You don’t know who is looking at you to see what decision you will make. Watch what you do at all times be a good example, be obedient and God will bless you!

  28. Ruth 3:18 Then said she, Sit still, my daughter, until thou know how the matter will fall: for the man will not be in rest, until he have finished the thing this day.

Psalm 37:3,5 Trust in the Lord, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed.
v.5 Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.

  29. “And she said unto her, All that thou sayest unto me I will do.” The word of God (Jesus) identified respect. Ruth had love and respect for her mother in law, for she (Naomi) had shown her love and respect. Naomi and Ruth wanted the best for each other, they were both loving, kind, and respectful of each other. Dear God, let us also have the same love and respect for one another. May God Bless America, Israel, Jerusalem, and you all in Jesus name, Amen!

  30. “And now, my daughter, fear not; I will do to thee all that thou requirest: for all the city of my people doth know that thou art a virtuous woman.” Ruth was known for her actions, which are an example still to this day. We are also known for our actions and how we treat another, which the Lord is the recorder of. God let our actions be pleasant in your sight, in Jesus name.

  31. Despite Boaz’s desire, he was willing to allow the closest relative to exercise his rights before Boaz would. Boaz shows his integrity and honored the law.

  32. “”I’ll do everything you say,” Ruth answered. So she went down to the threshing floor. She did everything her mother-in-law had told her to do.”
    ‭‭Ruth‬ ‭3:5-6‬ ‭NIRV‬‬

Beautiful example of obedience and submittion

  33. Authority

“Ruth said, “If you say so, I’ll do it, just as you’ve told me.””
    ‭‭Ruth‬ ‭3:5‬ ‭MSG‬‬

Niomi had authority over Ruth, but only because Ruth allowed. Ruth did not leave her mother-in-law even when her husband died. She did what Niomi said and helped to care for her too. This shows the true power of authority in your life.
