1 Kings 4

1 So king Solomon was king over all Israel.

2 And these were the princes which he had; Azariah the son of Zadok the priest,

3 Elihoreph and Ahiah, the sons of Shisha, scribes; Jehoshaphat the son of Ahilud, the recorder.

4 And Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was over the host: and Zadok and Abiathar were the priests:

5 And Azariah the son of Nathan was over the officers: and Zabud the son of Nathan was principal officer, and the king’s friend:

6 And Ahishar was over the household: and Adoniram the son of Abda was over the tribute.

7 And Solomon had twelve officers over all Israel, which provided victuals for the king and his household: each man his month in a year made provision.

8 And these are their names: The son of Hur, in mount Ephraim:

9 The son of Dekar, in Makaz, and in Shaalbim, and Bethshemesh, and Elonbethhanan:

10 The son of Hesed, in Aruboth; to him pertained Sochoh, and all the land of Hepher:

11 The son of Abinadab, in all the region of Dor; which had Taphath the daughter of Solomon to wife:

12 Baana the son of Ahilud; to him pertained Taanach and Megiddo, and all Bethshean, which is by Zartanah beneath Jezreel, from Bethshean to Abelmeholah, even unto the place that is beyond Jokneam:

13 The son of Geber, in Ramothgilead; to him pertained the towns of Jair the son of Manasseh, which are in Gilead; to him also pertained the region of Argob, which is in Bashan, threescore great cities with walls and brasen bars:

14 Ahinadab the son of Iddo had Mahanaim:

15 Ahimaaz was in Naphtali; he also took Basmath the daughter of Solomon to wife:

16 Baanah the son of Hushai was in Asher and in Aloth:

17 Jehoshaphat the son of Paruah, in Issachar:

18 Shimei the son of Elah, in Benjamin:

19 Geber the son of Uri was in the country of Gilead, in the country of Sihon king of the Amorites, and of Og king of Bashan; and he was the only officer which was in the land.

20 Judah and Israel were many, as the sand which is by the sea in multitude, eating and drinking, and making merry.

21 And Solomon reigned over all kingdoms from the river unto the land of the Philistines, and unto the border of Egypt: they brought presents, and served Solomon all the days of his life.

22 And Solomon’s provision for one day was thirty measures of fine flour, and threescore measures of meal,

23 Ten fat oxen, and twenty oxen out of the pastures, and an hundred sheep, beside harts, and roebucks, and fallowdeer, and fatted fowl.

24 For he had dominion over all the region on this side the river, from Tiphsah even to Azzah, over all the kings on this side the river: and he had peace on all sides round about him.

25 And Judah and Israel dwelt safely, every man under his vine and under his fig tree, from Dan even to Beersheba, all the days of Solomon.

26 And Solomon had forty thousand stalls of horses for his chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen.

27 And those officers provided victual for king Solomon, and for all that came unto king Solomon’s table, every man in his month: they lacked nothing.

28 Barley also and straw for the horses and dromedaries brought they unto the place where the officers were, every man according to his charge.

29 And God gave Solomon wisdom and understanding exceeding much, and largeness of heart, even as the sand that is on the sea shore.

30 And Solomon’s wisdom excelled the wisdom of all the children of the east country, and all the wisdom of Egypt.

31 For he was wiser than all men; than Ethan the Ezrahite, and Heman, and Chalcol, and Darda, the sons of Mahol: and his fame was in all nations round about.

32 And he spake three thousand proverbs: and his songs were a thousand and five.

33 And he spake of trees, from the cedar tree that is in Lebanon even unto the hyssop that springeth out of the wall: he spake also of beasts, and of fowl, and of creeping things, and of fishes.

34 And there came of all people to hear the wisdom of Solomon, from all kings of the earth, which had heard of his wisdom.

  1. 29 And God gave Solomon wisdom and understanding exceeding much, and largeness of heart, even as the sand that is on the sea shore.

  2. 20 Judah and Israel were many, as the sand which is by the sea in multitude, eating and drinking, and making merry.

29 And God gave Solomon wisdom and understanding exceeding much, and largeness of heart, even as the sand that is on the sea shore.

Hallelujah God is so faithful to his promises!

  3. 29. And God gave Solomon wisdom and understanding exceeding much, and largeness of heart, even as the sand that is on the sea shore.

    34. And there came of all people to hear the wisdom of Solomon, from all kings of the earth, which had heard of his wisdom.

All of that wisdom would have been wasted if he had not used it for the kingdom and shared it with others.

We that know the Truth also have a responsibility to use it for the Kingdom and share it with others. Like Solomon’s wisdom, revelation is from God and not meant to be withheld from those that seek it.

  4. The beginning of verses 29-34 MSG says “God gave Solomon wisdom—the deepest of understanding and the largest of hearts. There was nothing beyond him, nothing he couldn’t handle……”. Same verses NLT “God gave Solomon very great wisdom and understanding, and knowledge as vast as the sands of the seashore.” With this vast wisdom that God granted Solomon, the bible says in verse 33 NLT “He could speak with authority…..”. We too can speak with this authority when we seek and do His will.

  5. “And God gave Solomon wisdom and understanding exceeding much, and largeness of heart, even as the sand that is on the sea shore.”
    ‭‭1 Kings‬ ‭4:29‬ ‭KJV

Lord i pray for wisdom and understanding so I may become an example of you Jesus. To be like Solomon and his great wisdom is what we should aim for. Some people try to gain wisdom through school and education(you can) but to gain wisdom from the word of God and from the Lord himself is much more desirable.

  6. 29 And God gave Solomon wisdom and understanding exceeding much, and largeness of heart, even as the sand that is on the sea shore.

30 And Solomon’s wisdom excelled the wisdom of all the children of the east country, and all the wisdom of Egypt.

God blessed Solomon with great wisdom. Something that the bible says we can ask for and God will not hold back from us. I pray that God will bless me with wisdom and understanding as he did Solomon!

  7. iLove to Grow in the Word
    😮WOW
As I read this chapter all I can think is wow. First, the Word describes that he wrote 3,000 proverbs…we are blessed to at least have 31 to read from. Also, we can realize through reading the scripture that this knowledge, wisdom, understanding, and peaceful reign was given by God. I know it’s hard to believe, but we too can have the same wisdom.

“If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking. But when you ask him, be sure that your faith is in God alone. Do not waver, for a person with divided loyalty is as unsettled as a wave of the sea that is blown and tossed by the wind.”
    ‭‭James‬ ‭1:5-6‬ ‭NLT‬‬

  8. 29 And God gave Solomon wisdom and understanding exceeding much, and largeness of heart, even as the sand that is on the sea shore.

30 And Solomon’s wisdom excelled the wisdom of all the children of the east country, and all the wisdom of Egypt.

  9. 29 And God gave Solomon wisdom and understanding exceeding much, and largeness of heart, even as the sand that is on the sea shore.

This is amazing. I pray that we may be blessed with large hearts and great wisdom. Just think, if everyone came to hear Solomons wisdom, then in these days of chaos how much more might they be drawn here? We have Truth! That is the best wisdom! I pray that we walk in the authority of the Truth and wisdom of your Word, LORD. That souls are drawn to your house at the mention of your name. I pray that as they step closer and closer the clutches of the enemy dissolve in their lives and they are freed from the bonds of slavery, cuz that’s what the Truth does, it makes you free! Jesus we lift Your name on High!!

  10. Solmon was sovereign over everthing countries and King west of the River Euphrates from Tiphsah to Gaza. Peace reigned everywhere. Throughout Solomons life everone in Israei and Judah lived safe and sound all of them from Dan in the North to beersheba in the south content with what they had.

  11. 31 For he was wiser than all men; than Ethan the Ezrahite, and Heman, and Chalcol, and Darda, the sons of Mahol: and his fame was in all nations round about.

  12. GROW THROUGH WISDOM

We need a Revival of WISDOM. Too often we are challenged to help people that do not exercise WISDOM.

WISDOM – knowledge of what is proper or reasonable : good sense or judgment.

One writer defined WISDOM as the “application of KNOWLEDGE”.

    Our decisions reveal our WISDOM.

King Solomon is lauded here in chapter 4 for the WISDOM that he prayed for. Verse 34 teaches us that people will come to hear WISDOM. As we GROW the “main attraction” will be our willingness to exercise, practice and execute WISDOM in our choices, conversations and convictions. People will come to hear WISDOM.

  13. 29 And God gave Solomon wisdom and understanding exceeding much, and largeness of heart, even as the sand that is on the sea shore.

  14. 29 And God gave Solomon wisdom and understanding exceeding much, and largeness of heart, even as the sand that is on the sea shore.

  15. Who are we listening to and who is listening to us?

34 And there came of all people to hear the wisdom of Solomon, from all kings of the earth, which had heard of his wisdom.

Who is wise among us today? I would venture to say our seasoned people; our elders. They have lived on this earth longer and this been exposed to more things. Granted, we may not be the most tech-savy but we have our moments. There are some negative images of older people being wise; Grandpa Simpson is the first that comes to mind. Despite some negative images, most young people do not seem open to the idea of older people as wise.

Since the beginning of time, the elders were the ones sought after for guidance. Only the latest of generations have sought wisdom elsewhere. The accumulated wisdom of older people was a key to human survival. Not only did the old improve the survival chances of their children and grandchildren by caring for them and finding them food; they also were the source of tried and tested experience, the true “elders” to whom group members would go in time of crisis.

People in their seventies and beyond have lived through experiences many of us can only imagine. Situations like illness, aging, failure, oppression, loss, crushing poverty, and risking death in war. It is precisely these situations that lead to wisdom.

  16. Wisdom and Greatness.

  17. 29 God gave Solomon very great wisdom and understanding, and knowledge as vast as the sands of the seashore.
30 In fact, his wisdom exceeded that of all the wise men of the East and the wise men of Egypt.

34 And kings from every nation sent their ambassadors to listen to the wisdom of Solomon. (NLT)

Once blessed with such a vast amount of wisdom, Solomon imparted it to others and impacted those who hear. Not only do I pray God would bless you and I with wisdom but that we would remember to return the glory back to Him and use the wisdom (and any blessings really) for His kingdoms purpose.

  18. “So King Solomon ruled over the whole nation of Israel. Here are the names of his chief officials. Azariah was the priest. He was the son of Zadok.”
    ‭‭1 Kings‬ ‭4:1-2‬ ‭NIRV‬‬

Solomon was the wise man and as I read how he structured his officials and governors I can see that he put in place qualified people under him. He delegated roles and responsibilities that way no one was overworked and no task overlooked. Being a leader of a ministry you don’t have to be good at everything or have to do everything. Find people that are strong in your weak areas and GROW a team!

  19. 29 And God gave Solomon wisdom and understanding exceeding much, and largeness of heart, even as the sand that is on the sea shore.
30 And Solomon’s wisdom excelled the wisdom of all the children of the east country, and all the wisdom of Egypt.

    1 Kings 4:29-30

I pray my generation becomes one of wisdom and humility , that you use us God to speak to others of your word with the same wisdom you blessed Solomon with. It does not matter what secular educational knowledge you may bring to me from an atheist point of view or a scientist point of view , because biblical wisdom will ALWAYS over power any secular belief that states God does not exist! My God has been here since the beginning and he is here to STAY!

  20. 24 For he had dominion over all the region on this side the river, from Tiphsah even to Azzah, over all the kings on this side the river: and he had peace on all sides round about him.

POFW and ALLLLL OF THE DAUGHTER WORKS OF POFW IN UNITY!!! THE UNITY WE DEMONSTRATE AND POSESS WILL BRING MULTITUDES AND NATIONS TO BOW IN GOD’S PRESENCE SURRENDERING ALL TO JESUS!!!

  21. 32 And he spake three thousand proverbs: and his songs were a thousand and five.

I give God the glory for all He is doing. The wisdom of our pastor and the Word the past two services from one so young. God has bestowed wisdom into Pastor Watts which has flowed to their son and he delivered messages of strength and much wisdom. Thank you God for the wisdom you have granted for us to receive. Thank you God that your word is being delivered to each of us in the way we each need. I see so much strength and anointing that flows throughout POFW and it will continue even through each trial you go through. In our weakness is when God is made the strongest. It is no longer about us but Him. He is the on,y one that needs to receive any glory!

  22. 7 And Solomon had twelve officers over all Israel, which provided victuals for the king and his household: each man his month in a year made provision.

Ministry opportunities was even in the bible. We see Solomon appointing people to do the tasks necessary. Everyone did their part and made the task easy and seamless.

When we all pull together, how happy we’ll be. For your work is my work and our work is God’s work. When we all pull together, how happy we’ll be.

  23. 29 And God gave Solomon wisdom and understanding exceeding much, and largeness of heart, even as the sand that is on the sea shore.

Lord I pray that you would bless me with wisdom, and help me to use it for your kingdom!!

  24. 1 Kings 4:29, “And God gave Solomon wisdom and understanding exceeding much, and largeness of heart, even as the sand that is on the sea shore.”

  25. 29 And God gave Solomon wisdom and understanding exceeding much, and largeness of heart, even as the sand that is on the sea shore.

30 And Solomon’s wisdom excelled the wisdom of all the children of the east country, and all the wisdom of Egypt.

We too can posses great wisdom. All we have to do is ask. Lord I ask that you would grant me wisdom and understanding and revelation of your word. In Jesus name

If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking.
    James 1:5 NLT

  26. THANKYOU for wisdom.

I don’t have too much wisdom but the little bit that I have keeps me out of trouble and away from harmful people. There’s so many people that don’t know God. And I always here lately thought everyone knew Him. That’s why I stopped witnessing. But there’s alot of wicked people here and they want you to be like them. But ohhh Lord…if they only knew. I thankyou Lord that I don’t care if people hate me for standing up for you or talk about God’s word to them, because eventually we are all going to have to answer to God himself one day.

I’m hoping for revival on my heart today and everyday. That I will b able to share the fire inside me which is Jesus and let them see love through me.

    Bless you Lord Jesus.
Please keep me in your prayers in Jesus name. I love yall.

  27. 29 And God gave Solomon wisdom and understanding exceeding much, and largeness of heart, even as the sand that is on the sea shore.

Proverbs 4:5 Get wisdom, get understanding: forget it not; neither decline from the words of my mouth.

Proverbs 4:7 Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.

Our God is so good, He gave wisdom to Solomon and then taught us to seek wisdom and get understanding through the revelation of the Holy Ghost.

  28. 29 And God gave Solomon wisdom and understanding exceeding much, and largeness of heart, even as the sand that is on the sea shore.

Proverbs 4:5 Get wisdom, get understanding: forget it not; neither decline from the words of my mouth.

Proverbs 4:7 Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.

God gave Solomon wisdom and then taught us to get wisdom and then get understanding by the revelation of the Holy Ghost.

  29. 1 Kings 4:34 (KJV Strong’s)
34 And there came of all people to hear the wisdom of Solomon, from all kings of the earth, which had heard of his wisdom.

No matter how much we learn, or how much wisdom we gain we must never be foolish about the most important part.

Solomon wrote the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. Once wisdom is obtained we must let go of the fear of the Lord.

    Proverbs 14:27 (KJV Strong’s)

27 The fear of the Lord is a fountain of life,
to depart from the snares of death.

  30. “And Solomon had twelve officers over all Israel, which provided victuals for the king and his household: each man his month in a year made provision.”
    ‭‭1 Kings‬ ‭4:7‬ ‭KJV‬‬

    Delegation is great
Delegation works well when you can trust the other people to fulfill their commitments. There was great responsibility for the month hat these people were in charge. They had to trust and be trusted that the things they were supposed to do will be done well.

  31. Your reputation proceeds you

People from all over the world had heard of Solomons wisdom. He was wise beyond his years and greatly appreciated among men. When you have that reputation things go pretty smoothly. It hard to talk people out of being on your side and wanting to do the things your doing. The flip side of that is when a bad reputation proceeds you it’s hard to talk anyone into believing differently as well.

  32. 29 And God gave Solomon wisdom and understanding exceeding much, and largeness of heart, even as the sand that is on the sea shore.
God is so Good! He always keeps his promises!

  33. 29 And God gave Solomon wisdom and understanding exceeding much, and largeness of heart, even as the sand that is on the sea shore.

I wander if there might be some correlation between wisdom and largeness of heart????

  34. Solomon was known by the wisdom God fave him. He was blessed because he listened to what God wanted him to do. Our blessings come in our obedience to God’s word.

  35. 29And God gave Solomon wisdom and understanding exceeding much, and largeness of heart, even as the sand that is on the sea shore.

30 And Solomon’s wisdom excelled the wisdom of all the children of the east country, and all the wisdom of Egypt.

The l9rd gave Solomon although wisdom that he understood he could not rule a kingdom by himself. So that’s why he appointed overseers. Just as in the church we have directors over ministries in the church. Thank you Jesus for your wisdom.

  36. 34 And there came of all people to hear the wisdom of Solomon, from all kings of the earth, which had heard of his wisdom.

The Lord blessed Sololmon with wisdom. People from all over liked to hear hear him.

  37. 1 Kings 4:2-6 And these were the princes which he had; Azariah the son of Zadok the priest, Elihoreph and Ahiah, the sons of Shisha, scribes; Jehoshaphat the son of Ahilud, the recorder. And Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was over the host: and Zadok and Abiathar were the priests: And Azariah the son of Nathan was over the officers: and Zabud the son of Nathan was principal officer, and the king’s friend: And Ahishar was over the household: and Adoniram the son of Abda was over the tribute.

    Ephesians 4:11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;

We all have a place in the kingdom. Our mistake is when a arm tries to do one thing and the hand another. When we realize we need each other, and that thru unity as a body we can be the most effective in the kingdom, we surround our selves to be able to fight off the enemy.

  38. 29 And God gave Solomon wisdom and understanding exceeding much, and largeness of heart, even as the sand that is on the sea shore.

No kidding man. As I read, his leadership was full of structure and order. He could also speak 3 thousand proverbs? Like, dang! If we as a church ask God for wisdom and seek for it, I wonder how much more we could acconplish together!

  39. 29 And God gave Solomon wisdom and understanding exceeding much, and largeness of heart, even as the sand that is on the sea shore.

20 Judah and Israel were many, as the sand which is by the sea in multitude, eating and drinking, and making merry.

Solomon’s wisdom was greater than the amount of people, the greatest of people, and even greater than himself.

We see in this chapter that it’s ok to delegate and we also see the importance of our daily portion.

  40. 27 And those officers provided victual for king Solomon, and for all that came unto king Solomon’s table, every man in his month: they lacked nothing.

  41. “And Judah and Israel dwelt safely, every man under his vine and under his fig tree, from Dan even to Beersheba, all the days of Solomon.” The word of Jesus (God) said they “dwelt safely”. There is no mystery as to what they did, the leader (Solomon) and the people obeyed God and his word. There should likewise be no question as to why or how things are the way they are today. Dear God, bless us with leaders that fear and obey you. God Bless America, Israel, Jerusalem, and you all in Jesus name, Amen!

  42. “And God gave Solomon wisdom and understanding exceeding much, and largeness of heart, even as the sand that is on the sea shore.” The key hear is acknowledging the fact of who gave to Solomon. The Lord wants to give today; however we must be willing to seek him first and acknowledge him. God give us “largeness of heart”, in Jesus name

  43. Solomon had an impressive system to sustain his government. The write also boasts about Solomon’s intelligence and wisdom. Surely there is none like him.

  44. 20 Judah and Israel were many, as the sand which is by the sea in multitude, eating and drinking, and making merry.

Even in times of peace and plenty, we must be diligent to serve the Lord. We cannot afford to be rocked to sleep by the enemy of our souls while in the middle of being blessed.

  45. “And there came of all people to hear the wisdom of Solomon, from all kings of the earth, which had heard of his wisdom.”(‭1 Kings‬ ‭4:34‬ ‭KJV‬‬)

As servants of the Lord we have a desire to please him. Whenever we are faithful like Solomon we could be blessed just like him, and have the opportunity to ask for the desires of our heart. Solomon understands that blessings are conditional and intended to be used to serve the lord. We can learn from Solomon that even though he was young and inexperienced that his hearts desire was to lead the Lords people with wisdom.

  46. As the official in charge of the palace, Ahishar is most likely responsible for both the administration of the kings residence and the steward of his land. I can imagine this to be a huge responsibility to just even feed his household alone. The officials put in position had to be accountable and qualified for the task set before him.

  47. 22The daily food requirements for Solomon’s palace were 150 bushels of choice flour and 300 bushels of mealh; 23also 10 oxen from the fattening pens, 20 pasture-fed cattle, 100 sheep or goats, as well as deer, gazelles, roe deer, and choice poultry.

To be blessed and be able to feed so many. The Lord will provide no matter how big your family is, he will meet your needs.
