2 Kings 9

1 And Elisha the prophet called one of the children of the prophets, and said unto him, Gird up thy loins, and take this box of oil in thine hand, and go to Ramothgilead:

2 And when thou comest thither, look out there Jehu the son of Jehoshaphat the son of Nimshi, and go in, and make him arise up from among his brethren, and carry him to an inner chamber;

3 Then take the box of oil, and pour it on his head, and say, Thus saith the Lord, I have anointed thee king over Israel. Then open the door, and flee, and tarry not.

4 So the young man, even the young man the prophet, went to Ramothgilead.

5 And when he came, behold, the captains of the host were sitting; and he said, I have an errand to thee, O captain. And Jehu said, Unto which of all us? And he said, To thee, O captain.

6 And he arose, and went into the house; and he poured the oil on his head, and said unto him, Thus saith the Lord God of Israel, I have anointed thee king over the people of the Lord, even over Israel.

7 And thou shalt smite the house of Ahab thy master, that I may avenge the blood of my servants the prophets, and the blood of all the servants of the Lord, at the hand of Jezebel.

8 For the whole house of Ahab shall perish: and I will cut off from Ahab him that pisseth against the wall, and him that is shut up and left in Israel:

9 And I will make the house of Ahab like the house of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, and like the house of Baasha the son of Ahijah:

10 And the dogs shall eat Jezebel in the portion of Jezreel, and there shall be none to bury her. And he opened the door, and fled.

11 Then Jehu came forth to the servants of his lord: and one said unto him, Is all well? wherefore came this mad fellow to thee? And he said unto them, Ye know the man, and his communication.

12 And they said, It is false; tell us now. And he said, Thus and thus spake he to me, saying, Thus saith the Lord, I have anointed thee king over Israel.

13 Then they hasted, and took every man his garment, and put it under him on the top of the stairs, and blew with trumpets, saying, Jehu is king.

14 So Jehu the son of Jehoshaphat the son of Nimshi conspired against Joram. (Now Joram had kept Ramothgilead, he and all Israel, because of Hazael king of Syria.

15 But king Joram was returned to be healed in Jezreel of the wounds which the Syrians had given him, when he fought with Hazael king of Syria.) And Jehu said, If it be your minds, then let none go forth nor escape out of the city to go to tell it in Jezreel.

16 So Jehu rode in a chariot, and went to Jezreel; for Joram lay there. And Ahaziah king of Judah was come down to see Joram.

17 And there stood a watchman on the tower in Jezreel, and he spied the company of Jehu as he came, and said, I see a company. And Joram said, Take an horseman, and send to meet them, and let him say, Is it peace?

18 So there went one on horseback to meet him, and said, Thus saith the king, Is it peace? And Jehu said, What hast thou to do with peace? turn thee behind me. And the watchman told, saying, The messenger came to them, but he cometh not again.

19 Then he sent out a second on horseback, which came to them, and said, Thus saith the king, Is it peace? And Jehu answered, What hast thou to do with peace? turn thee behind me.

20 And the watchman told, saying, He came even unto them, and cometh not again: and the driving is like the driving of Jehu the son of Nimshi; for he driveth furiously.

21 And Joram said, Make ready. And his chariot was made ready. And Joram king of Israel and Ahaziah king of Judah went out, each in his chariot, and they went out against Jehu, and met him in the portion of Naboth the Jezreelite.

22 And it came to pass, when Joram saw Jehu, that he said, Is it peace, Jehu? And he answered, What peace, so long as the whoredoms of thy mother Jezebel and her witchcrafts are so many?

23 And Joram turned his hands, and fled, and said to Ahaziah, There is treachery, O Ahaziah.

24 And Jehu drew a bow with his full strength, and smote Jehoram between his arms, and the arrow went out at his heart, and he sunk down in his chariot.

25 Then said Jehu to Bidkar his captain, Take up, and cast him in the portion of the field of Naboth the Jezreelite: for remember how that, when I and thou rode together after Ahab his father, the Lord laid this burden upon him;

26 Surely I have seen yesterday the blood of Naboth, and the blood of his sons, saith the Lord; and I will requite thee in this plat, saith the Lord. Now therefore take and cast him into the plat of ground, according to the word of the Lord.

27 But when Ahaziah the king of Judah saw this, he fled by the way of the garden house. And Jehu followed after him, and said, Smite him also in the chariot. And they did so at the going up to Gur, which is by Ibleam. And he fled to Megiddo, and died there.

28 And his servants carried him in a chariot to Jerusalem, and buried him in his sepulchre with his fathers in the city of David.

29 And in the eleventh year of Joram the son of Ahab began Ahaziah to reign over Judah.

30 And when Jehu was come to Jezreel, Jezebel heard of it; and she painted her face, and tired her head, and looked out at a window.

31 And as Jehu entered in at the gate, she said, Had Zimri peace, who slew his master?

32 And he lifted up his face to the window, and said, Who is on my side? who? And there looked out to him two or three eunuchs.

33 And he said, Throw her down. So they threw her down: and some of her blood was sprinkled on the wall, and on the horses: and he trode her under foot.

34 And when he was come in, he did eat and drink, and said, Go, see now this cursed woman, and bury her: for she is a king’s daughter.

35 And they went to bury her: but they found no more of her than the skull, and the feet, and the palms of her hands.

36 Wherefore they came again, and told him. And he said, This is the word of the Lord, which he spake by his servant Elijah the Tishbite, saying, In the portion of Jezreel shall dogs eat the flesh of Jezebel:

37 And the carcase of Jezebel shall be as dung upon the face of the field in the portion of Jezreel; so that they shall not say, This is Jezebel.

Anointed for a mission. Jezebel tried to distract the mission once the anointed one arrived but she did not succeed. When God gives you a mission to accomplish with His command He will give the strength.
We cannot alllow any spirits of the world to distract us from what God has ordained for us. Anointed for a mission!

    • I never. Thought about this verse like u just did u r so right about mission i believe if god give us a mission he will direct us the way to finish it

There comes a time when we have to make that decision of which side we are on – these guys had to decide if they were going to let her continue to mock God, or do something about it.

  3. ANOINTED ROAD RAGE

Apparently Jehu was known for his aggressive driving. I will not attempt to defend, justify nor support road rage as we know it today. However, if there ever was biblical road rage, we see it here.

Jehu was on a MISSION. We would do well to be inspired by the determination of Jehu. He received a WORD from the servant of the prophet and ACTED on IT. Jehu was on PURPOSE. When met with opposition, Jehu was victorious.

May JESUS help us to proceed and progress positively and passionately for JESUS and His Kingdom. Jump in your chariot today and lets be about our Fathers business. Relentlessly driving toward our destiny with the Grace and Peace of our Great GOD.

  4. 22 King Joram demanded, “Do you come in peace, Jehu?” Jehu replied, “How can there be peace as long as the idolatry and witchcraft of your mother, Jezebel, are all around us?” (NLT)

Jehu told the other men, “What do you know about peace?” We live in a world where peace isn’t always evident. I’ve seen a saying, a few times now, that says, “kNOw JESUS, kNOw PEACE.” Read it with all the letters, then just the letters in all caps. It’s really true in my understanding; to have true peace, we must know Jesus and get behind him as the men who came to Jehu did.

  5. 2 Kings 9:22 – “And it came to pass, when Joram saw Jehu, that he said, Is it peace, Jehu? And he answered, What peace, so long as the whoredoms of thy mother Jezebel and her witchcraft are so many?

If you have sin in your life, you won’t have peace in your life. Get rid of the sin in your life, and you will have peace.

    No JESUS, No Peace
    Know JESUS, Know Peace

Thank You JESUS that Your are the Prince of Peace!

  6. 1 And Elisha the prophet called one of the children of the prophets, and said unto him, Gird up thy loins, and take this box of oil in thine hand, and go to Ramothgilead:

We all need to be prepared for the spiritual we have in store for us. We are going to take some land and some people from the devil but he isn’t going to give it up without a fight. So we need to be prepared to fight the spiritual battle to help win souls.

  7. iLove to grow in the Word
Well Hallelujah, anyone up for donuts…

It’s revival time and the Word of the Lord is always fulfilled unlike the prophecies of the pagans. Our God is a consuming fire and his Word is always true and will always come to pass.

The greatest thing I learned today is something behind the scenes. If we remember yesterday’s blog we would remember that it was this king of Israel that was talking to the servant of Elisha about the miracles that were done restored the Shunamite woman’s possessions and land. You see, he still had a relationship with the man of God and still administered good judgement but because of Idolatry still had to be judged. wow.

  8. God is not a man that he should lie …. when HE says something via His word or His prophet we can rest assured it will come to pass.

Just like the prophet said, things happened. If we could turn that around to the positive side and have the faith to believe the good things that God has spoken to us and not accept anything less, we would see promises that we are waiting on be fulfilled.

  9. God is great and greatly to be praised, always follow Gods commands, stay close to God in prayer so you can hear his commands also

  10. 2 Kings 9:6 (KJV Strong’s)
6 And he arose, and went into the house; and he poured the oil on his head, and said unto him, Thus saith the Lord God of Israel, I have anointed thee king over the people of the Lord, even over Israel.

Sometimes anointing will come when you least expect it. God will promote and take you to another level in him. The key is to be ready and in place. We must never forget the timing and tuning of God. We must trust him for he knows when all the pieces are in place for you to enter your destiny.

  11. 10As for Jezebel, dogs will devour her on the plot of ground at Jezreel, and no one will bury her.’ ” Then he opened the door and ran.

As soon as Jehu was anointed king he was given a mission from the Lord. He was to hurry and cut down the line of Ahab. As for Jezebel he told that she was to be eaten by the dogs and not buried. The ran out to fulfill the will of God but surprisingly told his men to bury her for she was the daughter of the king. Their was no need to compromise with the will of God because she was already devoured by the time they came out. God will complete his judgment upon those who are cursed.

  12. This is the word of the Lord.

Be assured what is prophesied will come to pass. In this chapter, Jehoram and Jezebel fell in the exact way as prophesied. I am sure that both of them had expected the prophesies to be forgotten and they had gotten away with their evil deeds. We all know that God’s timing is not our timing and His ways are not our ways.

If you are standing on a promise from God; do not give up. It will come to pass – likely though not in the time frame we want. This is not a bad thing as we might not be prepared mentally or spiritually for the promise that we are standing on. Why did God hold off on the new building being completed until 2016, we may never know.

  13. 34 And when he was come in, he did eat and drink, and said, Go, see now this cursed woman, and bury her: for she is a king’s daughter.

35 And they went to bury her: but they found no more of her than the skull, and the feet, and the palms of her hands.

Jehu was questioned by Joram, are you here for peace sake and said how can there be peace if there’s so much idolatry thanks to your mother. It’s the power of God that was placed upon Jehu to persue the will of God. The Lord loves us and disciplines us. It’s up to us to seek him first and leave sin behind.

  14. 2 King 9:30 Then Jehu went to Jezreel. When Jebel heard about it she put on eye makeup arranged her hair and looked out of a window. As Jehu enter the gate she asked have you come in peace you Zimri you murderer of your master? He looked up at the window and called out who is on my side? who? Two or three eunuchs looked down at him. Throw her down Jehu said. So they threw her down and some of her blood splattered the wall and the horses as they trample her underfoot. Jehu went in and ate and drink. Take care of that cursed woman he said and bury her for she was a king’s daughter but when they went out to bury her they found nothing except her skull her feet and her hands. They went back and told Jehu who said? This is the word of the Lord that he spoke through his servant Elijah the Tishbite. On the plot of ground at Jezreel dogs will be like dung on the ground in the plot at Jezreel so that no one will be able to say this is Jezebel.

  15. 12 And they said, It is false; tell us now. And he said, Thus and thus spake he to me, saying, Thus saith the Lord, I have anointed thee king over Israel.

13 Then they hasted, and took every man his garment, and put it under him on the top of the stairs, and blew with trumpets, saying, Jehu is king.
It’s amazing how quickly people believed the prophet and accepted the fact that Jehu was king. And as soon as Jehu was pronounced king he went about doing the will ofGod. We must trust God and the leaders he has given us and when God opens the door we must run through it as leaders and let God bless our efforts.

  16. 22 King Joram demanded, “Do you come in peace, Jehu?” Jehu replied, “How can there be peace as long as the idolatry and witchcraft of your mother, Jezebel, are all around us?” (NLT)

  17. “And he lifted up his face to the window, and said, Who is on my side? who? And there looked out to him two or three eunuchs.”(‭‭2 Kings‬ ‭9:32‬ ‭KJV‬‬)

Instead of hiding herself, as one afraid of the vengeance of the Lord, Jezebel mocked at fear. As soon as she heard word that Jehu was king she began to put on make up. She was not a woman to humble herself and sit in sackcloth seeking mercy from God. See how a heart, hardened against God, will brave it out to the last. There is not a surer presage of ruin, than an unhumbled heart under humbling providences. Pride comes before the fall and she fell to her death to be devoured by dogs.

  18. And he lifted up his face to the window, and said, Who is on my side? who? And there looked out to him two or three eunuchs.

  19. 36 Wherefore they came again, and told him. And he said, This is the word of the Lord, which he spake by his servant Elijah the Tishbite, saying, In the portion of Jezreel shall dogs eat the flesh of Jezebel:

Rest assured that God will fulfill His Word.

  20. 32 And he lifted up his face to the window, and said, Who is on my side? who? And there looked out to him two or three eunuchs.
33 And he said, Throw her down. So they threw her down: and some of her blood was sprinkled on the wall, and on the horses: and he trode her under foot.

Just as Jehu entered and took authority, we too must take authority in our own lives wherever the enemy is trying to cause havoc..

  21. Vengeance is mine sayeth the Lord. When God says something is over it’s over. God doesn’t hide his plan or purpose. He will put up and take down who he pleases.

  22. “When Joram saw Jehu he asked, “Have you come here in peace, Jehu?” “Your mother Jezebel worships statues of gods,” Jehu replied. “She also worships evil powers. The evil things she does have spread everywhere. As long as all of that goes on, how can there be peace?””
    ‭‭2 Kings‬ ‭9:22‬ ‭NIRV‬‬

How can there be peace when there is sin.

  23. 3 Then take the box of oil, and pour it on his head, and say, Thus saith the Lord, I have anointed thee king over Israel.

God’s words were fulfilled and the call upon Jehu’s life was acomplished despite what the enemy tried against him in distraction.

  24. 24 And Jehu drew a bow with his full strength, and smote Jehoram between his arms, and the arrow went out at his heart, and he sunk down in his chariot.

This verse reminded me of Psalms 37:1-2
“Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity. For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb.”

  25. 1 And Elisha the prophet called one of the children of the prophets, and said unto him, Gird up thy loins, and take this box of oil in thine hand, and go to Ramothgilead:

    2 And when thou comest thither, look out there Jehu the son of Jehoshaphat the son of Nimshi, and go in, and make him arise up from among his brethren, and carry him to an inner chamber;

3 Then take the box of oil, and pour it on his head, and say, Thus saith the Lord, I have anointed thee king over Israel. Then open the door, and flee, and tarry not.

  26. We cannot afford to let anything or anyone get in our way of completing our mission that we have been given. We must stay focused, keep our determination and fulfill our purpose (mission).

  27. 11 Then Jehu came forth to the servants of his lord: and one said unto him, Is all well? wherefore came this mad fellow to thee? And he said unto them, Ye know the man, and his communication.

You have to be careful with your audience When you receive a Word from the LORD. Some may not receive it well.

  28. 12 And they said, It is false; tell us now. And he said, Thus and thus spake he to me, saying, Thus saith the Lord, I have anointed thee king over Israel.
13 Then they hasted, and took every man his garment, and put it under him on the top of the stairs, and blew with trumpets, saying, Jehu is king.

The young man wasted no time in obeying Elisha, and the other Captains wasted no time in honoring Jehu as King. Both obeyed immediately. We too must be prompt to obey the voice of God and not apply our human reason into the situation. We can talk ourselves out blessing someone else or miss our own blessing by thinking things over too long. Regrets are lessons learned the hard way.

  29. God’s word will always be fulfilled.

  30. 6 And he arose, and went into the house; and he poured the oil on his head, and said unto him, Thus saith the Lord God of Israel, I have anointed thee king over the people of the Lord, even over Israel.

  31. Keep the queen out of the throne room

What Jehosheba did was good and bad. Athaliah had given an order to kill the entire royal family. To go against that order was bad but she knew the better thing to do was save the young prince. When the time was right Joash was made kimg and God blessed everyone.

It takes great courage to go against what is popular. However, right is right. If it sounds like a duck, looks like a duck and walks like a duck – call it a duck. There is no reason for Gods’s people to fear the correct morale choice. This fall we need to cast out vote to keep another Athaliah away from the leadership of this country.

“Athaliah was the mother of Ahaziah. When she saw that her son was dead, she took over. She began by massacring the entire royal family. But Jehosheba, daughter of King Joram and sister of Ahaziah, took Ahaziah’s son Joash and kidnapped him from among the king’s sons slated for slaughter. She hid him and his nurse in a private room away from Athaliah. He didn’t get killed. He was there with her, hidden away for six years in The Temple of GOD. Athaliah, oblivious to his existence, ruled the country.”
    ‭‭2 Kings‬ ‭11:1-3‬ ‭MSG‬‬

  32. “Then take the box of oil, and pour it on his head, and say, Thus saith the Lord, I have anointed thee king over Israel. Then open the door, and flee, and tarry not.”
    ‭‭2 Kings‬ ‭9:3‬ ‭KJV‬‬

  33. God wanted this man to deliver his message and flee. Not because he was scared, because he wanted God to get the glory. He wanted people to know that he words of God are true and came from God and not man.

I think that sometimes we get in the way when we linger. We might think that we are helping out, but really we are taking focus away from God. We only need to stay if God says stay and go when God says leave.

  34. 32Jehu looked up and saw her at the window and shouted, “Who is on my side?” And two or three eunuchs looked out at him. 33“Throw her down!” Jehu yelled. So they threw her out the window, and her blood spattered against the wall and on the horses. And Jehu trampled her body under his horses’ hooves.

Even the eunuchs knew how evil Jezebel was, the obeyed Jehu and threw her out the window. It was obvious that Jezebel mistreated them over time, so they gladly obeyed.
