1 Chronicles 7

1 Now the sons of Issachar were, Tola, and Puah, Jashub, and Shimrom, four.

2 And the sons of Tola; Uzzi, and Rephaiah, and Jeriel, and Jahmai, and Jibsam, and Shemuel, heads of their father’s house, to wit, of Tola: they were valiant men of might in their generations; whose number was in the days of David two and twenty thousand and six hundred.

3 And the sons of Uzzi; Izrahiah: and the sons of Izrahiah; Michael, and Obadiah, and Joel, Ishiah, five: all of them chief men.

4 And with them, by their generations, after the house of their fathers, were bands of soldiers for war, six and thirty thousand men: for they had many wives and sons.

5 And their brethren among all the families of Issachar were valiant men of might, reckoned in all by their genealogies fourscore and seven thousand.

6 The sons of Benjamin; Bela, and Becher, and Jediael, three.

7 And the sons of Bela; Ezbon, and Uzzi, and Uzziel, and Jerimoth, and Iri, five; heads of the house of their fathers, mighty men of valour; and were reckoned by their genealogies twenty and two thousand and thirty and four.

8 And the sons of Becher; Zemira, and Joash, and Eliezer, and Elioenai, and Omri, and Jerimoth, and Abiah, and Anathoth, and Alameth. All these are the sons of Becher.

9 And the number of them, after their genealogy by their generations, heads of the house of their fathers, mighty men of valour, was twenty thousand and two hundred.

10 The sons also of Jediael; Bilhan: and the sons of Bilhan; Jeush, and Benjamin, and Ehud, and Chenaanah, and Zethan, and Tharshish, and Ahishahar.

11 All these the sons of Jediael, by the heads of their fathers, mighty men of valour, were seventeen thousand and two hundred soldiers, fit to go out for war and battle.

12 Shuppim also, and Huppim, the children of Ir, and Hushim, the sons of Aher.

13 The sons of Naphtali; Jahziel, and Guni, and Jezer, and Shallum, the sons of Bilhah.

14 The sons of Manasseh; Ashriel, whom she bare: (but his concubine the Aramitess bare Machir the father of Gilead:

15 And Machir took to wife the sister of Huppim and Shuppim, whose sister’s name was Maachah;) and the name of the second was Zelophehad: and Zelophehad had daughters.

16 And Maachah the wife of Machir bare a son, and she called his name Peresh; and the name of his brother was Sheresh; and his sons were Ulam and Rakem.

17 And the sons of Ulam; Bedan. These were the sons of Gilead, the son of Machir, the son of Manasseh.

18 And his sister Hammoleketh bare Ishod, and Abiezer, and Mahalah.

19 And the sons of Shemidah were, Ahian, and Shechem, and Likhi, and Aniam.

20 And the sons of Ephraim; Shuthelah, and Bered his son, and Tahath his son, and Eladah his son, and Tahath his son,

21 And Zabad his son, and Shuthelah his son, and Ezer, and Elead, whom the men of Gath that were born in that land slew, because they came down to take away their cattle.

22 And Ephraim their father mourned many days, and his brethren came to comfort him.

23 And when he went in to his wife, she conceived, and bare a son, and he called his name Beriah, because it went evil with his house.

24 (And his daughter was Sherah, who built Bethhoron the nether, and the upper, and Uzzensherah.)

25 And Rephah was his son, also Resheph, and Telah his son, and Tahan his son.

26 Laadan his son, Ammihud his son, Elishama his son.

27 Non his son, Jehoshuah his son.

28 And their possessions and habitations were, Bethel and the towns thereof, and eastward Naaran, and westward Gezer, with the towns thereof; Shechem also and the towns thereof, unto Gaza and the towns thereof:

29 And by the borders of the children of Manasseh, Bethshean and her towns, Taanach and her towns, Megiddo and her towns, Dor and her towns. In these dwelt the children of Joseph the son of Israel.

30 The sons of Asher; Imnah, and Isuah, and Ishuai, and Beriah, and Serah their sister.

31 And the sons of Beriah; Heber, and Malchiel, who is the father of Birzavith.

32 And Heber begat Japhlet, and Shomer, and Hotham, and Shua their sister.

33 And the sons of Japhlet; Pasach, and Bimhal, and Ashvath. These are the children of Japhlet.

34 And the sons of Shamer; Ahi, and Rohgah, Jehubbah, and Aram.

35 And the sons of his brother Helem; Zophah, and Imna, and Shelesh, and Amal.

36 The sons of Zophah; Suah, and Harnepher, and Shual, and Beri, and Imrah,

37 Bezer, and Hod, and Shamma, and Shilshah, and Ithran, and Beera.

38 And the sons of Jether; Jephunneh, and Pispah, and Ara.

39 And the sons of Ulla; Arah, and Haniel, and Rezia.

40 All these were the children of Asher, heads of their father’s house, choice and mighty men of valour, chief of the princes. And the number throughout the genealogy of them that were apt to the war and to battle was twenty and six thousand men.

  1. Verse 40 NLT “Each of these descendants of Asher was the head of an ancestral clan. They were all select men—mighty warriors and outstanding leaders. The total number of men available for military service was 26,000, as listed in their genealogical records.” Same verse NIV “All these were descendants of Asher—heads of families, choice men, brave warriors and outstanding leaders. The number of men ready for battle, as listed in their genealogy, was 26,000.” This chapter spoke to me about how we (POFW) should be combat ready, mighty warriors and outstanding leaders. It reminded me of the song that we sing that says “We are mighty, mighty warriors……and taking the kingdom by force.”

  2. 11 All these the sons of Jediael, by the heads of their fathers, mighty men of valour, were seventeen thousand and two hundred soldiers, fit to go out for war and battle.

FIT TO GO OUT FOR WAR AND BATTLE!!! How many of us are FIT TO GO OUT FOR WAR AND BATTLE!?! HALELUJAH!!! THANK YOU JESUS!!!

  3. 9 And the number of them, after their genealogy by their generations, heads of the house of their fathers, mighty men of valour, was twenty thousand and two hundred.

  4. 11. All these were the sons of Jediael. Listed in their genealogical records were 17,200 family leaders and warriors who were capable of marching out to battle. NET

We are family leaders and warriors who are “capable of marching out to battle”, but do we? Or do we just sit by and let the enemy have his way?

We have to settle it in our minds that we ARE capable; not because of ourselves, but because of who we are in God. We won’t stand idle while the enemy has his way, but we will take the battle to him and take what is ours.

  5. 11 All these the sons of Jediael, by the heads of their fathers, mighty men of valour, were seventeen thousand and two hundred soldiers, fit to go out for war and battle

God is looking to raise up mighty men and women for battle. He is ready to use us for the kingdom of God. Who will stand up and declare that they are ready and willing to fight in the Lord’s army? !

  6. Men of valour

These were men of valour. Meaning they had courage in battle. What can be said about us bothers and sisters? Are we these type of people. People of valour? Can we say that we stand in the face of adversity, and stay strong? Or do we tuck tail and hide under a rock until the storm passes. A harbor is considered a safe place for ships. Yet they are still in the elements and have to face the wind and rain. Not as intense, but they still have to face it. And if the storm is strong enough could incure damage. We, as those ships still have to face life. So stay strong men and women of valour. For are mighty warriors through Jesus.

  7. 21 And Zabad his son, and Shuthelah his son, and Ezer, and Elead, whom the men of Gath that were born in that land slew, because they came down to take away their cattle.

When we do not fully do as Jesus asks us, we leave doors open that needed to be shut.

  8. 40 All these were the children of Asher, heads of their father’s house, choice and mighty men of valour, chief of the princes. And the number throughout the genealogy of them that were apt to the war and to battle was twenty and six thousand men.

Choice and Mighty . Help us to be all You have called us to be God. We can choose to be weak or Mighty. We can be the Choice you want us to be! We have royal blood that flows through tout us we are a chosen generation . We are armed for the battle!

  9. iLove to Grow in the Word Daily

1 Chronicles 7:21-22 NLT (21) Zabad, Shuthelah, Ezer, and Elead. These two were killed trying to steal livestock from the local farmers near Gath. (22) Their father, Ephraim, mourned for them a long time, and his relatives came to comfort him.

The things we do affect the entire family structure. These young men thought they would steal some cattle…the ole five finger discount and the next thing they discover is life on the other side of eternity.

In this passage of scripture, we find the pain they caused their father. We also find out that they caused a financial burden upon the rest of the family. They had to take off work and travel to comfort the dad. Yeah, in today’s culture (according to the figures on the internet), the average North American traditional funeral costs between $7,000 and $10,000. This price range includes the services at the funeral home, burial in a cemetery, and the installation of a headstone.

So these boys cost dad at least $14,000 and not only that, they broke dad’s heart and they stressed out the kinfolk and they also met Jesus on not so good terms.

Wow, is steak worth that price?

  10. “Each of these descendants of Asher was the head of an ancestral clan. They were all select men—mighty warriors and outstanding leaders. The total number of men available for military service was 26,000, as listed in their genealogical records.”
    ‭‭1 Chronicles‬ ‭7:40‬ ‭NLT‬‬

We have been chosen to be in the army of God! It is up to us what we do with that calling, are you going to just sit there or rise up and be a mighty leader?

  11. 40 All these were the children of Asher, heads of their father’s house, choice and mighty men of valour, chief of the princes. And the number throughout the genealogy of them that were apt to the war and to battle was twenty and six thousand men.

  12. 40 All these were descendants of Asher—heads of families, choice men, brave warriors and outstanding leaders. The number of men ready for battle, as listed in their genealogy, was 26,000.

I see this passage reading….all these were descendants of Michael. Many might believe that Pastor is to hard but everything we do is for a reason and is backed up with scripture. I love seeing souls change their lifestyle for Jesus, trust Him, grow in the Faith, get baptized, etc. It’s a blessing to see your own spiritual babies grow in the kingdom and start changing the way they talk and doing things. Pastor is building us to be brave and be those outstanding leaders ready and equipped to fight. Praise God!!! Thank You Pastor!

Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain. 1Cor 15:58

  13. GROW STRONGER

1Chronicles 7:3 And the sons of Uzzi; Izrahiah: and the sons of Izrahiah; Michael, and Obadiah, and Joel, Ishiah, five: all of them chief men.
4 And with them, by their generations, after the house of their fathers, were bands of soldiers for war, six and thirty thousand men: for they had many wives and sons.

Understanding the potential of exponential GROWTH is important to the church leader. We read here where 36,000 men came from ONE (1) man; UZZI.

UZZI had developed men that were Leaders. A son and 4 grandsons that were chief men. They were captains or leaders of others. From 1 to 5 to 36,000. What an example of exponential REVIVAL.

If we would each win 1 soul and that 1 soul won 4 souls and the 5 together would win 36,000 souls.

    iRepent
    iPraise
    iPray
    iWork
    iGive
    iReap

  14. Proverbs 20:23 God hates cheating in the marketplace; rigged scales are an outrage.

There is more to business than profits and losses. How we conduct business is important to God. We do not have to be a business owner for this to apply; if we are one of thousands of employees for a company our ethics are still important to God. Our management may not be aware of our shady dealings, but God notices our conduct.

  15. 40 All these were the children of Asher, heads of their father’s house, choice and mighty men of valour, chief of the princes. And the number throughout the genealogy of them that were apt to the war and to battle was twenty and six thousand men.

  16. 2 And the sons of Tola; Uzzi, and Rephaiah, and Jeriel, and Jahmai, and Jibsam, and Shemuel, heads of their father’s house, to wit, of Tola: they were valiant men of might in their generations; whose number was in the days of David two and twenty thousand and six hundred.

  17. 2 And the sons of Tola; Uzzi, and Rephaiah, and Jeriel, and Jahmai, and Jibsam, and Shemuel, heads of their father’s house, to wit, of Tola: they were valiant men of might in their generations; whose number was in the days of David two and twenty thousand and six hundred.

Valiant men of might is mentioned numerous times in this chapter. This lets us know that they were taught to be valiant men from generation to generation. It was something that was a “must” in their family, and important enough to pass from one generation to another.

We, as the body of Christ, should be teaching those that come after us to be valiant men and women of might spiritually. We should be equipped with the Word of God (sword of the Spirit), the shield of faith, the breastplate of righteousness, our helmet of salvation, our loins gird about with truth, and a prayer life that will cause the enemy to shake in his boots.

Prayer and the word should be common in our homes, teaching our children to learn how to fight their battles spiritually and not physically when they are young, so as they grow older they also teach others.

Are we training valiant men/women of might?

  18. Many times we see these decendants called mighty warriors in the NLT. We too are of our ancestors decent and are mighty warriors!

  19. 2 Chronicles 7:21 Zabad his son and Shuthelah his son. Ezer and Elead were killed by the native born men of Gath when they went down to seize their livestock. Their father ther Ephraim mourned for them many days and his relatives came to comfort him.

When we decide to what we want and it is wrong we hurt not only ourselves but the whole family

  20. 1 Chronicles 7:40 (MSG)
“These were Asher’s sons, all of them responsible, excellent in character, and brave in battle – good leaders. They listed 26,000 combat-ready men in their family tree.”

As a soldier of Jesus Christ – we must be responsible, excellent in character, brave in battle – good leaders.

  21. The son of Uzzi was Izrahiah. The sons of Izrahiah were Michael, Obadiah, Joel, and Isshiah. These five became the leaders of clans. All of them had many wives and many sons, so the total number of men available for military service among their descendants was 36,000.
    1 Chronicles 7:3‭-‬4 NLT
    http://bible.com/116/1ch.7.3-4.NLT

As heads and leaders of our household it is our duty not only to provide for our families but to also train them and teach them to also be strong leaders. Our children watch everything we do and say. They will grow up with what we teach them whether good or bad. We must developer strong and valiant warriors not only to fight lead but to also grow and multiply.

  22. 40 All these were the children of Asher, heads of their father’s house, choice and mighty men of valour, chief of the princes. And the number throughout the genealogy of them that were apt to the war and to battle was twenty and six thousand men.

I like how the NLT say. They were all select men might warriors and outstanding leader

When i read this it made me the coming of Jesus. How awesome will it be to be pick god outstanding might warriors. That will be a wonderful day

  23. 40 All these were descendants of Asher—heads of families, choice men, brave warriors and outstanding leaders. The number of men ready for battle, as listed in their genealogy, was 26,000. NIV
Men are we being leaders of our homes? Ladies are we lifting our spouses hands up and helping them and not tearing them down. It’s time we as families square our shoulders back and take back our children and everything that the devil stole from us.

  24. 11 All these the sons of Jediael, by the heads of their fathers, mighty men of valour, were seventeen thousand and two hundred soldiers, fit to go out for war and battle.

We are all mighty men and women of God!

  25. 7 And the sons of Bela; Ezbon, and Uzzi, and Uzziel, and Jerimoth, and Iri, five; heads of the house of their fathers, mighty men of valour; and were reckoned by their genealogies twenty and two thousand and thirty and four.

  26. 40 All these were the children of Asher, heads of their father’s house, choice and mighty men of valour, chief of the princes. And the number throughout the genealogy of them that were apt to the war and to battle was twenty and six thousand men.

  27. This Chapter inspires me to not only prepare for
Battles but to reach out to souls that have no understanding of who God is. Lord your kingdom come as your will be done use me to do your will and not mine will.

  28. The family name

….These were Asher’s sons, all of them responsible, excellent in character, and brave in battle—good leaders. They listed 26,000 combat-ready men in their family tree.”
    ‭‭1 Chronicles‬ ‭7:33-40‬ ‭MSG‬‬

“A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches, and loving favour rather than silver and gold.”
    ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭22:1‬ ‭KJV‬‬

This is the greatest example of what a father wants said about his children. What more could you ask for?

“Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.”
    ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭22:6‬ ‭KJV

  29. 40 All these were the children of Asher, heads of their father’s house, choice and mighty men of valour, chief of the princes. And the number throughout the genealogy of them that were apt to the war and to battle was twenty and six thousand men.

We too are choosen mighty warriors but further more we are what the Word says:

But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:
    1 Peter 2:9 KJV

  30. We are mighty warriors! Always remember BECAUSE we serve the same God, because we have the same enemy, because we thrive to fulfill the purpose of God in our lives WE ARE mighty warriors! People who see us worshipping and think we’re crazy for our devotion to God do not understand how important we are as children of God. We fight a battle daily that many will not understand or even see with their physical eyes … but we do it because VICTORY walks by our side day in and day out , and together we fight for the reward far more greater than money and fame! The crown of LIFE! To God be the GLORY!!!

  31. 1 Chronicles 7:40 (NLT)
40 Each of these descendants of Asher was the head of an ancestral clan. They were all select men—mighty warriors and outstanding leaders. The total number of men available for military service was 26,000, as listed in their genealogical records.

God is concerned about how many warriors there are. How many are willing to fight? He called us to win this battle but battle we must.

  32. “And with them, by their generations, after the house of their fathers, were bands of soldiers for war, six and thirty thousand men: for they had many wives and sons.” The word of God (Jesus) records their lineage and purpose, for a reason. One cannot miss something, until it is gone. Salvation and freedom are common in that both were purchased with blood and sacrifice. Each act of defiance against the word of God and our Nation, only affords one with the opportunity to experience the true meaning of miss. Dear God, awaken us so that we and our children would not have too experience miss. God Bless America, Israel, Jerusalem, and you all in Jesus name, Amen!

  33. “All these were the children of”. They were blessed in that there were many children. Albeit the work would begin, after they were born. The same is also required for those that are newly born in the Lord. God help us too be mindful that both require care and sustenance, in Jesus name.

  34. 40 ………….. And the number throughout the genealogy of them that were apt to the war and to battle………………

You want to be part of the ones that left a legacy? You have to have been apt to the was and to the battle. Not the battle of the flesh, but against rulers of the darkness. Only the mighty men of valour left a legacy. Everyone is in a continual battle against self. Our daily decisions are filled with choices about wether we do Gods will or our own.

I you are called to ministry, self is the last person whos will prevail. We need to set our selfish ambition and seek Gods will for our lives.

  35. Sheerah is listed in this genealogy with this interesting note that she builds cities. She is mentioned for an accomplishment most men would receive credit for. She must have been a strong and able worker and leader, for she built not just one or two cities, but three. Upper and Lower Beth Horon form an important pass between Jerusalem and Joppa. She doesn’t allow the traditional thinking that only men can successfully organize and manage large projects to keep her from fulfilling her potential and making her mark on the world. Her example is an inspiration to women of all ages to use their God given abilities to fulfill not just cultural expectations but God’s divine purpose.

  36. 40 All these were the children of Asher, heads of their father’s house, choice and mighty men of valour, chief of the princes. And the number throughout the genealogy of them that were apt to the war and to battle was twenty and six thousand men.

God is calling the mighty. Those that know how to be a leader and will help lead others.

  37. Zelophehad had only daughters, and had wandered in between Egypt and the promised land with Moses. He has five daughters an no sons. He dies during the death march and leaves then without protection or provision. They want to preserve their fathers name and guarantee their future. These women went before Moses and council to request inheritance rights and got them. God issued an exemption to the rule (Nu 27:7-11). They understood God’s law and Hebrew tradition, yet they took a risk to bravely change their world and the world of generations to come.

  38. I love how the bible breaks it down into the family units to show the value of the family unit. It shows how we are to value not just the individual, but the entire family unit. It highlights the father son relationship with most of these families because the men are the protectors and providers. We need to remember why we do the small things and allow our husbands and sons to provide and protect our families in Jesus name. (Sons grow up to become mighty men)

  39. 23 And when he went in to his wife, she conceived, and bare a son, and he called his name Beriah, because it went evil with his house.

Don’t hold on to the things of past to where it affects the next generation.

  40. We all have the potential for greatness. We can not be the ones who hinder other generations from being victorious because of our weaknesses. Uplift others to do their very best rather than beating them down with your actions.

  41. 40 All these were the children of Asher, heads of their father’s house, choice and mighty men of valour, chief of the princes. And the number throughout the genealogy of them that were apt to the war and to battle was twenty and six thousand men.

Not everyone is up to the task… it takes valour to go out thew. Bus Ministry not anyone is up to the task it takes love to go out there and find kids to bring every Sunday. It don’t matter if is hot or cold, raining or muddy shoes, it take valour and courage to be out there.
That’s why I love my ministry!!! I am a warrior!

  42. Everyone is important. Jesus did not make us insignificant. Each one of these names were human beings that made an impact on this world, even if they didn’t realize it. Realize your potential, and make the most of it while you have the time.
