1 Chronicles 13

1 And David consulted with the captains of thousands and hundreds, and with every leader.

2 And David said unto all the congregation of Israel, If it seem good unto you, and that it be of the Lord our God, let us send abroad unto our brethren every where, that are left in all the land of Israel, and with them also to the priests and Levites which are in their cities and suburbs, that they may gather themselves unto us:

3 And let us bring again the ark of our God to us: for we enquired not at it in the days of Saul.

4 And all the congregation said that they would do so: for the thing was right in the eyes of all the people.

5 So David gathered all Israel together, from Shihor of Egypt even unto the entering of Hemath, to bring the ark of God from Kirjathjearim.

6 And David went up, and all Israel, to Baalah, that is, to Kirjathjearim, which belonged to Judah, to bring up thence the ark of God the Lord, that dwelleth between the cherubims, whose name is called on it.

7 And they carried the ark of God in a new cart out of the house of Abinadab: and Uzza and Ahio drave the cart.

8 And David and all Israel played before God with all their might, and with singing, and with harps, and with psalteries, and with timbrels, and with cymbals, and with trumpets.

9 And when they came unto the threshingfloor of Chidon, Uzza put forth his hand to hold the ark; for the oxen stumbled.

10 And the anger of the Lord was kindled against Uzza, and he smote him, because he put his hand to the ark: and there he died before God.

11 And David was displeased, because the Lord had made a breach upon Uzza: wherefore that place is called Perezuzza to this day.

12 And David was afraid of God that day, saying, How shall I bring the ark of God home to me?

13 So David brought not the ark home to himself to the city of David, but carried it aside into the house of Obededom the Gittite.

14 And the ark of God remained with the family of Obededom in his house three months. And the Lord blessed the house of Obededom, and all that he had.

  1. Sometimes it’s good to fear God.

This scripture was about David fearing God. Sometimes we have to fear God and ask questions to Him also to make sure we know what He says to me/us.

In this scripture I thank you God for speaking to me I don’t mess up because I know . There’s consequences and their not Good ones. I love my mother because she tells me like it t truely is. I can accept what she tells me or not its my choice, But I know that she tells me good things to do to help me…so I just listen and ask questions later. This is how God works too. We listen and do what He says or I we are in trouble and i pray and repent to Him daily for the things He tells me that i may not do.

I love you my God.and saviour Jesus.

  2. 9 And when they came unto the threshingfloor of Chidon, Uzza put forth his hand to hold the ark; for the oxen stumbled.

  3. Verses 1-4 MSG “David consulted with all of his leaders, the commanders of thousands and of hundreds. Then David addressed the entire assembly of Israel, “If it seems right to you, and it is God’s will, let’s invite all our relatives wherever they are throughout Israel, along with their relatives, including their priests and Levites from their cities and surrounding pastures, to join us. And let’s bring the Chest of our God back—the Chest that was out of sight, out of mind during the days of Saul.” The entire assembly of Israel agreed—everybody agreed that it was the right thing to do.” The beginning of these verses remind me of the accountability and leadership of POFW. There is an order and a responsibility to that in the house of God. The second part of these scriptures reminds me getting back to the heart of it all…..JESUS. It is not about us, it is about Him and doing His will and inviting everyone we know to come and know Him.

  4. 9 And when they came unto the threshingfloor of Chidon, Uzza put forth his hand to hold the ark; for the oxen stumbled.
10 And the anger of the Lord was kindled against Uzza, and he smote him, because he put his hand to the ark: and there he died before God.

Here is a great example of how we can have great intentions and still be do something wrong, this example was at the expense of Uzza’ life……. with all of that said, GOD IS THE SAME YESTERDAY, TODAY and………..
    HALELUJAH!!!

  5. 3. It is time to bring back the Ark of our God, for we neglected it during the reign of Saul.” NLT

It would had been easy to lay all the blame on Saul; instead, David identified a mistake, accepted the responsibility, sought advice, then took steps to correct it.

  6. 8 And David and all Israel played before God with all their might, and with singing, and with harps, and with psalteries, and with timbrels, and with cymbals, and with trumpets.

    With all their might!

  7. And David was displeased…

When we are displeased with a choice made or an act performed we need to be careful our displeasure does not fester into anger. Anger implies strong disapproval. If you are angry at someone, you think they have done something they should not have done. This is why being angry at God is never right. It is wrong – always wrong – to disapprove of God for what he does or permits to happen. “Shall not the Judge of all the earth do what is just?” (Genesis 18:25)

If we find anger in our heart towards God, what then? If we feel it, we should confess it to God. He knows it anyway. He sees our hearts. If anger at God is in our heart, we may as well tell him so, and then tell him we are sorry, and ask him to help us put it away by faith in his goodness and wisdom.

Now, to David’s issues… He knew better. He knew the process and procedures to move the Ark – the descendants of Kohath, were the only priests who were allowed to move the tabernacle and on their shoulders. So, Uzza’s death was on David – not God.

  8. 8 And David and all Israel played before God with all their might, and with singing, and with harps, and with psalteries, and with timbrels, and with cymbals, and with trumpets.

They brought praise and worship to God as they brought the ark into Israel but even with that, Uzza still died when he touched the ark. We can pretend to be a praiser and a worshiper, but if we don’t obey the voice of God, then the praise loses it’s meaning.

  9. iLove to Grow in the Word

    David did everything right except…

David made up his mind to perform a task for the Kingdom of God and all his committee agreed. It was the will of God and the people agreed. David’s heart was right and the people’s hearts were right…so what was the problem? The problem was not a heart issue but an understanding issue. Once David received the understanding of the law concerning the carrying of the ark of God, the Levites carried it back with no problem or issue.

Understanding the Word is vital to the believers success.

  10. DOING THE RIGHT THING THE WRONG WAY

3 And let us bring again the ark of our God to us: for we enquired not at it in the days of Saul.
4 And all the congregation said that they would do so: for the thing was right in the eyes of all the people.

There are in most cases many paths to the same destination. Our minds are trained at a young age to seek the path of least resistance. One might ask; why would GOD let that man die when they were bringing back, restoring or reviving the people of GOD. The answer is simple; the ARK of GOD was never intended by GOD to be moved by cart, only by the priesthood on their shoulders.

Our adversary knows where we are weak and will attack those areas to defeat us.

The ARK of GOD had been forgotten, neglected and ignored. Much like missing church, prayer meeting and reading your bible. All of the sudden an urge to get those things back arises. There is still only ONE way to “get right with GOD”

    REPENT

Turn away from sin and turn to JESUS. Our turning to JESUS will not be effective or productive if we do not REPENT. If we just turn to JESUS but never repent we are half hearted toward GOD and JESUS knows our thoughts. Revealing how we could be DOING THE RIGHT THING THE WRONG WAY.

When JESUS speaks to us or leads us, we should always go to the WORD of GOD for instructions. There have been multitudes of good ideas that have been initiated only to end in Spiritual Tragedy because of failure to submit, seek counsel or fully inquire of the LORD.

I pray that we allow the tragedy of Uzza be a lesson to us that there is a right way and a wrong way to GO about the will of GOD. I also pray that JESUS would be our counsel at The POFW in knowing that way to Endtime Apostolic Revival and Harvest for the region of Fort Worth, TX.

    In JESUS name!

    iRepent
    iPraise
    iPray
    iWork
    iGive
    iReap

  11. 1 Chronicles 13:3, 7, 9-10
    3) And let us bring again the ark of our God to us: for we enquired not at it in the days of Saul.
    7) And they carried the ark of God in a new cart out of the house of Abinadab: and Uzza and Ahio drave the cart.”
    9) And when they came unto the threshingfloor of Chidon, Uzza put forth his hand to hold the ark: for the oxen stumbled.
    10) And the anger of the LORD was kindled against Uzza, and he smote him, because he put his hand to the ark: and there he died before God.

David and the people of Israel had good intentions in wanting to bring the ark of God back to them, but they went about it the wrong way (using a new cart) and it lead to one man’s death. As the old saying goes, “If they had done it right in the first place, this would have never happened.”
The ark of God was never intended to be carried on a cart, but it was to be carried on the shoulders of the priests.

As one commentary I read this morning said, “Let the sin of Uzza warn us all to take heed of presumption, rashness, and irreverence, in dealing about holy things, and not to think that a good intention will justify a bad action.

We all have good intentions in doing things for God, but we must do things God’s way and not our own, or it will lead to grave consequences for us.

  12. 9 And when they came unto the threshingfloor of Chidon, Uzza put forth his hand to hold the ark; for the oxen stumbled.

10 And the anger of the Lord was kindled against Uzza, and he smote him, because he put his hand to the ark: and there he died before God.
Uzza had the right heart and spirit but was disobedient to the instructions God had given him. His disobedience cost him his life. We have to be careful because sometimes we may do the right thing but not with the right spirit.

  13. 12 David was afraid of God that day and asked, “How can I ever bring the ark of God to me?”

When in fear come to the Lord and He will show you where to go…..There been points in my walk with God that I have been scared and truly scared. But I prayed to God asking Him for a detailed revelation and He always comes through. Jesus is so amazing that if we can just TRUST HIM and let everything go and just follow Him, He Will Truly Lead Us!!!!!!!! I wouldn’t be where I am today if I would’ve listened to Him. Thank You Jesus You Are AMAZING!!!!!

  14. 8 And David and all Israel played before God with all their might, and with singing, and with harps, and with psalteries, and with timbrels, and with cymbals, and with trumpets.

  15. 14 And the ark of God remained with the family of Obededom in his house three months. And the Lord blessed the house of Obededom, and all that he had.

To be about the things of the Lord and surrounding yourself with what pleased Him you are sure to be blessed. Keep yourself focused on the things of His Kingdom.

  16. Verses 11-14, David is angry at God and afraid of Him. Not only was this the wrong reaction to have considering it was his fault in the first place. But also, we see that David robs himself out of a time of blessings just because he’s mad.

  17. 14 And the ark of God remained with the family of Obededom in his house three months. And the Lord blessed the house of Obededom, and all that he had.

Wherever we find the presence of God we can find His favor in operation. Our lives should exhibit signs of blessings from the Lord.

John 3:2 – Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.

  18. 12 And David was afraid of God that day, saying, How shall I bring the ark of God home to me?

David seen what god did to uzza. And he fear the lord there is day coming when the world and they are going to see what god is going to do and then shall the world know and fear god

  19. 1 Chronicles 13:7 (KJV Strong’s)
7 And they carried the ark of God in a new cart out of the house of Abinadab: and Uzza and Ahio drave the cart.

The new cart was driven by Ahio and Uzza. Ahio means fraternal. Uzza means strength. Jesus said there is only one way. In fact he is THE WAY, the truth, and the life. He said no man comes to the father except by me.

We live in a world with a new cart. Prosperity preaching, easy believism, and charismatic church. We live in a word that says be your best you can be instead of be like Jesus. Live your best life now instead of he that lays down his life for HIS sake shall find it.

The new cart looks good and has a form of godliness but denies the power thereof. There is strength in numbers so these churches are massive and look strong. There is also a fraternal feel, a club, a pseudo-fellowship.

Yet Jesus said it’s not by power, nor by strength, but by my spirit saith the Lord. We aren’t in a club we are in a battle ship.

Jesus never called us to hang curtains in the wilderness. The gospel can’t be carted around. It’s not convenient. It must be carried. It began by sacrifice and it must continue to be carried by sacrifice.

  20. 3 And let us bring again the ark of our God to us: for we enquired not at it in the days of Saul.

4 And all the congregation said that they would do so: for the thing was right in the eyes of all the people.

  21. 14 And the ark of God remained with the family of Obededom in his house three months. And the Lord blessed the house of Obededom, and all that he had.

If you keep the spirit of the Lord burning in your heart, you will be blessed!

  22. A lot of times I felt that I was doing the right thing, but for the wrong reasons. My mind was in the wrong place. On more than one occasion this has happened to me. God knows what He wants done and how He wants me to do them. It is my mind that tells me different. I know in my heart that God wants me to do things one way and that I need to obey and fear the consequences. This is a learning time for me and I need to listen and obey the word of God.
Like David, fear has to be in line with what God is instructing me to do. I can no longer allow the enemy to gain footholds in my mind. I want to thank everybody that has encouraged me to remain in POFW and that have prayed for me in this time of trouble. God is the head of me and I will be the mighty man that He has called me to be……..God bless and Amen!!!

  23. Get your praise on.
8And David and all Israel played before God with all their might, and with singing, and with harps, and with psalteries, and with timbrels, and with cymbals, and with trumpets.
9 And when they came unto the threshingfloor of Chidon, Uzza put forth his hand to hold the ark; for the oxen stumbled.

Sometimes you just have to praise your way to a blessing.

  24. 8 And David and all Israel played before God with all their might, and with singing, and with harps, and with psalteries, and with timbrels, and with cymbals, and with trumpets.

If we praise God with all our might then God is going to do incredible things in our lives!

  25. “12 And David was afraid of God that day, saying, How shall I bring the ark of God home to me?”

I pray the fear of the Lord will continue if not start to be a lifestyle to young people now a days. That many will come to a realization of the importance of salvation in their lives. Many times as I was growing up I saw many young people with titles in church or faithful church goers live one way in Church and live differently outside of it. Many of who I believed would be great role models as they had the potential to be great difference makers. There has to be a re-direction from God in our lives. God knows which way is best, but in order for one to completely be aware and obedient to the direction one must pray and fast and read scripture for that direction. I pray that this because a lifestyle to me, and I encourage young people to do the same so that they can be TRUE difference makers for their generation! To fulfill the purpose of God in their lives and achieve what many have tried but have failed due to allowing pleasure to take over . Their HAS to be a young ANOINTED generation that will rise and THRIVE! Young people who will step out of routines and out of their comfort zones! Young people who are not afraid to fight the forces of evil with anointing and truth! It’s time to get back to it, save the lost , bring true gospel, and run the devil OUT of our cities! It’s time to THRIVE!

  26. Unity does not devalue obedience

1And David consulted with the captains of thousands and hundreds, and with every leader.

They all agreed that they should bring back the ark. Yet, their understand of how to bring it back was tainted. What can we learn? I learned that when we all come into unity of how to fix a issue we must then search the Word of God to make sure we do it according to His law.

May people try to fix their wrong in life and make their way to heaven yet they fail to search his word on how to do that. They do what seems right in their eyes or what others have told them. Yet the Bible says in John 3:5

Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

We must search the scripture in all things.

  27. 13 So David brought not the ark home to himself to the city of David, but carried it aside into the house of Obededom the Gittite.

14 And the ark of God remained with the family of Obededom in his house three months. And the Lord blessed the house of Obededom, and all that he had.

When the presence of the Lord is brought into our homes we can be assured that it will he blessed.

  28. 10 And the anger of the Lord was kindled against Uzza, and he smote him, because he put his hand to the ark: and there he died before God.

We want the hand of the Lord over our life’s we must follow his commandments!

  29. Obedience is important. Even if your intentions are noble, you must be sure you are putting the commandments of God first. To ovey is better than sacrifice.

  30. “And David consulted with the captains of thousands and hundreds, and with every leader.” The word of God (Judge) identified his (David’s) leadership. It was recorded that the king sought their counsel, and did not merely take action. Dear God, help us comprehend your word. God Bless America, Israel, Jerusalem, and you all in Jesus name, Amen!

  31. “So David brought not the ark home to himself to the city of David, but carried it aside into the house of Obededom the Gittite.” David showed compassion in that he was not willing that anyone else should perish; therefore he stopped what he was doing. David wanted the ark home; however not at the expense of others. God help us to seek your will before our will, in Jesus name.

  32. “David was afraid of God that day. He asked, “How can I ever bring the ark of God back here to me?””
    ‭‭1 Chronicles‬ ‭13:12‬ ‭NIRV‬‬

This verse reminds me of the lesson taught not too long ago… when trouble comes change your “why is this happening?” into “How is God going to get the glory?” It’s a change of though pattern.

  33. v10 Then the anger Uzza, and Be struck him because he put his hand to the ark; and he died there before God.

We do well to prayfully apply HIS WORDS.

    • Sorry The anger of the LORD was aroused Uzza, and HE struck him because he put his hand to the ark; and he died there before God.

  34. David had a great idea to bring the Ark of the covenant back to them. He not only daughters God’s will but the approval of the people to all come together. In all this he lacked attention to preparation. This is the Ark of God, who is enthroned bwletween the cherubim. Obeying the process of properly escorting the Ark by thr Levite priests would have been by hooks and rods and the priests manually carrying the Ark. Instead they place it on a cart this is the first count of disobedience and it only snowballs down into the death of Uzzah for touching the Ark when the oxen stumbled. God doesn’t need someone to keep Him and that which he sets apart protected, instead he is looking for someone who will be obedient and worship him the way he decrees. Obedience is not always convenient nor will we understand why God wants things done in a certain way… that is until it’s too late. If they had been carrying the Ark their would never of been the urge to steady the cart. The Levites were to move in unity not rely on a ox to carry their burden.

  35. Saul was the people’s choice but David knew their hearts

A great leader always includes his people in the decisions. He knows that he can trust their judgment because he knows their hearts. David was a king that lead with his heart, the only way to lead like God. David could have imposed his will forcefully but he knew that given the choice his people would do the right thing. Distributing authority in leadership is not loss of power for the head but rather it lengthens his reign. Let us be mindful of the true meaning of leadership… Jesus walked with the people

  36. And all the congregation said that they would do so: for the thing was right in the eyes of all the people. (1 Chronicles 13:4 KJV)

The children of God came agreed with David to bring the ark of the covenant to them. They celebrated while the priests come forth with the ark. They were so excited like David was. Although it was the will of God they acted out of emotion and forgot obedience and it cost Uzzah. When we forget obedience to God it will cost us too.

  37. An interesting turn of events from judgement and death to blessing. The presence of God is nothing to be played with. When taken for granted, it can lead to death. When honored, blessings.

  38. 7 And they carried the ark of God in a new cart out of the house of Abinadab: and Uzza and Ahio drave the cart.

8 And David and all Israel played before God with all their might, and with singing, and with harps, and with psalteries, and with timbrels, and with cymbals, and with trumpets

How privileged we are to be able to praise God and know that He is anywhere but most importantly he is in our hearts.

  39. 1 And David consulted with the captains of thousands and hundreds, and with every leader.

  40. 8 And David and all Israel played before God with all their might, and with singing, and with harps, and with psalteries, and with timbrels, and with cymbals, and with trumpets.

This is something that people that go the church need to get infected by, that when we get together for church, we need to praise God like never before. Singing, playing instruments with all of our might, the only way David knew how to worship God. Demonstrative praise is pleasing to God and I believe David knew how to get Gods attention. For God to describe him as being a man after his heart, David knew how God deserves to be praised.
Next time you go to church, get crazy in your praise!

  41. 13 So David brought not the ark home to himself to the city of David, but carried it aside into the house of Obededom the Gittite.
14 And the ark of God remained with the family of Obededom in his house three months. And the Lord blessed the house of Obededom, and all that he had.
Invite the presence of the Lord into the household. Stir up a spirit of prayer within the walls of the home. Joshua 24:15 “But if serving the LORD seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD.”

  42. 9 And when they came unto the threshingfloor of Chidon, Uzza put forth his hand to hold the ark; for the oxen stumbled.

Tragedy happened because God knows exactly what he wants and he is teaching us that there is consequences to disobedience.
