1 Chronicles 15

1 And David made him houses in the city of David, and prepared a place for the ark of God, and pitched for it a tent.

2 Then David said, None ought to carry the ark of God but the Levites: for them hath the Lord chosen to carry the ark of God, and to minister unto him for ever.

3 And David gathered all Israel together to Jerusalem, to bring up the ark of the Lord unto his place, which he had prepared for it.

4 And David assembled the children of Aaron, and the Levites:

5 Of the sons of Kohath; Uriel the chief, and his brethren an hundred and twenty:

6 Of the sons of Merari; Asaiah the chief, and his brethren two hundred and twenty:

7 Of the sons of Gershom; Joel the chief and his brethren an hundred and thirty:

8 Of the sons of Elizaphan; Shemaiah the chief, and his brethren two hundred:

9 Of the sons of Hebron; Eliel the chief, and his brethren fourscore:

10 Of the sons of Uzziel; Amminadab the chief, and his brethren an hundred and twelve.

11 And David called for Zadok and Abiathar the priests, and for the Levites, for Uriel, Asaiah, and Joel, Shemaiah, and Eliel, and Amminadab,

12 And said unto them, Ye are the chief of the fathers of the Levites: sanctify yourselves, both ye and your brethren, that ye may bring up the ark of the Lord God of Israel unto the place that I have prepared for it.

13 For because ye did it not at the first, the Lord our God made a breach upon us, for that we sought him not after the due order.

14 So the priests and the Levites sanctified themselves to bring up the ark of the Lord God of Israel.

15 And the children of the Levites bare the ark of God upon their shoulders with the staves thereon, as Moses commanded according to the word of the Lord.

16 And David spake to the chief of the Levites to appoint their brethren to be the singers with instruments of musick, psalteries and harps and cymbals, sounding, by lifting up the voice with joy.

17 So the Levites appointed Heman the son of Joel; and of his brethren, Asaph the son of Berechiah; and of the sons of Merari their brethren, Ethan the son of Kushaiah;

18 And with them their brethren of the second degree, Zechariah, Ben, and Jaaziel, and Shemiramoth, and Jehiel, and Unni, Eliab, and Benaiah, and Maaseiah, and Mattithiah, and Elipheleh, and Mikneiah, and Obededom, and Jeiel, the porters.

19 So the singers, Heman, Asaph, and Ethan, were appointed to sound with cymbals of brass;

20 And Zechariah, and Aziel, and Shemiramoth, and Jehiel, and Unni, and Eliab, and Maaseiah, and Benaiah, with psalteries on Alamoth;

21 And Mattithiah, and Elipheleh, and Mikneiah, and Obededom, and Jeiel, and Azaziah, with harps on the Sheminith to excel.

22 And Chenaniah, chief of the Levites, was for song: he instructed about the song, because he was skilful.

23 And Berechiah and Elkanah were doorkeepers for the ark.

24 And Shebaniah, and Jehoshaphat, and Nethaneel, and Amasai, and Zechariah, and Benaiah, and Eliezer, the priests, did blow with the trumpets before the ark of God: and Obededom and Jehiah were doorkeepers for the ark.

25 So David, and the elders of Israel, and the captains over thousands, went to bring up the ark of the covenant of the Lord out of the house of Obededom with joy.

26 And it came to pass, when God helped the Levites that bare the ark of the covenant of the Lord, that they offered seven bullocks and seven rams.

27 And David was clothed with a robe of fine linen, and all the Levites that bare the ark, and the singers, and Chenaniah the master of the song with the singers: David also had upon him an ephod of linen.

28 Thus all Israel brought up the ark of the covenant of the Lord with shouting, and with sound of the cornet, and with trumpets, and with cymbals, making a noise with psalteries and harps.

29 And it came to pass, as the ark of the covenant of the Lord came to the city of David, that Michal, the daughter of Saul looking out at a window saw king David dancing and playing: and she despised him in her heart.

  1. In the AMP version this chapter is captioned with “Plans to Move the Ark to Jerusalem”. This made me pose the question “Do your plans have God’s stamp of approval?”. Like the chapter before, we sometimes are so fixed on the task at hand that we forget to enquire of the Lord. David came to realize that decision to move the ark came at a high cost as he stated in verse 13 “Because you did not [carry it as God directed] the first time, the Lord our God made an [angry] outburst against us, for we did not seek Him in accordance with the ordinance.” In all things seek God’s direction and make sure your following His plan and not your own.

  2. 29 And it came to pass, as the ark of the covenant of the Lord came to the city of David, that Michal, the daughter of Saul looking out at a window saw king David dancing and playing: and she despised him in her heart.

What woman in her right mind would despise seeing her husband worshipping the Lord or any man worshipping the Lord. We cannot allow anyone’s opinion keep us from worshipping as we feel led to do. David was worshipping with all of his heart. Men and women both be careful about any relateshio that would cause you not to worship with all your heart.
(If you cannot worship or feel inhibited around someone ,you might need to be sure you are in the right relationship. ) of course this statement is intended for singles) We must allow God to be our first love and nothing or anyone should come between that love.

  3. 26 And it came to pass, when God helped the Levites that bare the ark of the covenant of the Lord, that they offered seven bullocks and seven rams.

  4. 2 Then David said, None ought to carry the ark of God but the Levites: for them hath the Lord chosen to carry the ark of God, and to minister unto him for ever.

They way it should be. I would imagine David felt bad and responsible for Uzzah’s death. However David learned from his mistake and did things the correct way.

Now maybe Uzzah knew he was not supposed to touch the Ark – maybe he did not. Either way, David is reponsible for his death. How many people have been hurt by our actions? We know the correct way to behave and act but sometimes we chose a different path. God forgive me that my actions do cause the death of one of your people.

  5. 13. You did not carry the chest from Kiriath-jearim the first time we moved it, so the Eternal our God was infuriated at us for ignoring His commands. This time, we will bring it to Jerusalem in the way He told us to. The Voice

Men, I’m sure we’ve all heard the saying: “When all else fails, try doing it the way your wife told you to”, but better advice that applies to everyone would be: “To keep from failing, do it the way God told you to”.

  6. THE GOD OF 2ND CHANCES FOR REVIVAL

There is a 2 burdens on my heart today.

    1. David failed miserably in the loss of Uzza in 1 Chronicles 13. By placing the Ark of GOD on a cart and transporting it like a package instead of a possession. A package you send a possession you bring.

David revived his personal relationship with GOD. He then prepared himself and his people to accomplish the opportunity at hand. He assembled and delegated to the Priests and Levites for the Revival of the Ark. GOD gave David a 2nd chance.

*** A WORD from the LORD for somebody today.

“Just because you failed once, doesnt mean it is over, GO back and make it RIGHT. Then present your burden to the LORD”.

    2. Not just anybody can do IT. There are many things in the Kingdom of GOD that are available and accessible to the body of Christ. All can pray, hear the voice of GOD, cast out devils, heal the sick, pray in FAITH believing and witness MIRACLES. However there are other responsibilities that can only be accomplished by the GOD called, sent man of GOD (Priest) and his Staff (Levites).

Leaders are responsible for the “Move of GOD”. For this reason, GOD places higher expectation on HIS called. It has been stated that “Leaders SURRENDER privileges”. Here is the reason why, GOD relies on Spiritual Leadership to transport the Supernatural in the natural. When we are BLESSED and PRIVILEGED with the opportunity to SERVE in ANY Ministry, GOD is evaluating us for the next level of responsibility and in most cases, JESUS is:

THE GOD OF 2ND CHANCES FOR REVIVAL

There is a difference in the level of anointing on someone that just went and and on someone that was sent.

    iRepent
    iPraise
    iPray
    iWork
    iGive
    iReap

  7. 19 So the singers, Heman, Asaph, and Ethan, were appointed to sound with cymbals of brass;

    20 And Zechariah, and Aziel, and Shemiramoth, and Jehiel, and Unni, and Eliab, and Maaseiah, and Benaiah, with psalteries on Alamoth;

It doesn’t matter how big or small, the LORD notices your work and dedication to your ministries.

  8. 13 For because ye did it not at the first, the Lord our God made a breach upon us, for that we sought him not after the due order.

GOD MUST HAVE FIRST PLACE IN ALL WE DO!!!

    Deuteronomy 4:24
“For the LORD your God is a consuming fire, a jealous God.

  9. 28 Thus all Israel brought up the ark of the covenant of the Lord with shouting, and with sound of the cornet, and with trumpets, and with cymbals, making a noise with psalteries and harps.

29 And it came to pass, as the ark of the covenant of the Lord came to the city of David, that Michal, the daughter of Saul looking out at a window saw king David dancing and playing: and she despised him in her heart.
Don’t let nothing stop your praise or giving glory to God David didn’t care what anyone thought of his praise he gave it everything that he had. Even to the point that his own wife despised him that didn’t matter he got his praise on!

  10. iLove to Grow in the Word
2 Then he commanded, “No one except the Levites may carry the Ark of God. The lord has chosen them to carry the Ark of the lord and to serve him forever.”

David finally got an understanding in the Word of God and set it into motion. This is basically what happens when folks are baptized in the name of Jesus. Many times folks are baptized in the wrong formula simply because they misunderstand the scripture. Once the revelation happens, that’s when the true blessings are restored.

  11. 28 Thus all Israel brought up the ark of the covenant of the Lord with shouting, and with sound of the cornet, and with trumpets, and with cymbals, making a noise with psalteries and harps.

Israel praised God with shouting and with many instruments, when we praise God, we shouldn’t be quiet about it because God gave us victory and that is something worth celebrating!

  12. 13 Because you Levites did not carry the Ark the first time, the anger of the Lord our God burst out against us. We failed to ask God how to move it properly.” (NLT)

I guess the one thing about mistakes is that you can at least learn from them. Making mistakes and learning from them is really a part of life, however, they can be relieved if we are wise enough to talk to God first.

  13. 12 And said unto them, Ye are the chief of the fathers of the Levites: sanctify yourselves, both ye and your brethren, that ye may bring up the ark of the Lord God of Israel unto the place that I have prepared for it.
13 For because ye did it not at the first, the Lord our God made a breach upon us, for that we sought him not after the due order.

Know who your working with. There’s a certain level of synergy that happens when you know who your working with. This is one place that we can gain more unity. But how do you get to know know people? Go out with each other, praise and worship together. Yes but talking amongst yourselves is the best way. It creates trust naturally. But how can there be unity if there’s no trust. And when that trust is broken with someone you know, it makes it harder for those around you. Because we think we’ll if they did it, then this person might do it to me too. Trust is the key.

  14. 25 So David, and the elders of Israel, and the captains over thousands, went to bring up the ark of the covenant of the Lord out of the house of Obededom with joy

WITH JOY! Whenever you are to do something, do it with joy. Whether it be from God or someone else, always do it with JOY!!!

  15. 29 And it came to pass, as the ark of the covenant of the Lord came to the city of David, that Michal, the daughter of Saul looking out at a window saw king David dancing and playing: and she despised him in her heart.

  16. 27 And David was clothed with a robe of fine linen, and all the Levites that bare the ark, and the singers, and Chenaniah the master of the song with the singers: David also had upon him an ephod of linen.

28 Thus all Israel brought up the ark of the covenant of the Lord with shouting, and with sound of the cornet, and with trumpets, and with cymbals, making a noise with psalteries and harps.

The Levites prepared themselves to bring the ark of the covenant into the tent that David had prepared for it to dwell. Then he appointed specific people with specific rolls so that when the ark was transported they did not have another issue as they did before with Uzzi.

The people brought the ark with loudly singing and playing instruments in praise and worship.

This is an example of how we should prepare ourselves to come before HIS presence with singing and worship every time we come before Him, whether we are at home, or at the church we should prepare our hearts and invite His presence through praise.

  17. 1 Chronicles 15:11 Then David summoned Zadok and Abiathar the priests and Uriel Asia Joel Shemaiah Elie and Amminadab the Levites. He said to them you are the heads of the Levitical families you and your fellow Levites are to consecrate yourselves and bring up the ark of the Lord the God of Israel to the place I have prepared for it. It was because you the Levites did not bring it up the first time that the Lord our God broke out in anger against us. We did not inquire of him about how to do it in the prescribed way. So the priests and Levites consecrated themselves in order to bring up the ark of the Lord the God of Israel. And the Levites carried the ark of God with poles on their shoulders as Moses ad commanded in accordance with the word of the Lord.

  18. 1 Chronicles 15:12-13 & 26
    12) And said unto them, Ye are the chief of the fathers of the Levites: sanctify yourselves, both ye and your brethren, that ye may bring up the ark of the LORD God of Israel unto the place that I have prepared for it.
    13) For because ye did it not at the first, the LORD our God made a breach upon us, for that we sought him not after the due order.

    26) And it came to pass, when God helped the Levites that bare the ark of the covenant of the LORD, that they offered seven bullocks and seven rams.

The first time they tried to bring the ark of the covenant home they failed, because they didn’t seek God and do it the right way according to God’s plan and order, and God brought a breach upon them.
The second time, they did it right ( the Levites sanctified themselves and carried it upon their shoulders), and God helped them.

It goes to show that when we seek God and do (OBEY) according to His plan and order, then He will be with us.

  19. 12 And said unto them, Ye are the chief of the fathers of the Levites: sanctify yourselves, both ye and your brethren, that ye may bring up the ark of the Lord God of Israel unto the place that I have prepared for it.

13 For because ye did it not at the first, the Lord our God made a breach upon us, for that we sought him not after the due order.

14 So the priests and the Levites sanctified themselves to bring up the ark of the Lord God of Israel.

  20. 1 Chronicles 15:12-13 And said unto them, Ye are the chief of the fathers of the Levites: sanctify yourselves, both ye and your brethren, that ye may bring up the ark of the Lord God of Israel unto the place that I have prepared for it. For because ye did it not at the first, the Lord our God made a breach upon us, for that we sought him not after the due order.

    The God of second chances!

A mistake in David’s part took the life of someone. As a leader, when we do things without consulting our leadership we risk those near us. The false impression that we can do anything we want, will bring a quick and hard lesson in life.
God will not be impressed by your initiative when there is a risk of putting someone else’s life at risk.

  21. 29 And it came to pass, as the ark of the covenant of the Lord came to the city of David, that Michal, the daughter of Saul looking out at a window saw king David dancing and playing: and she despised him in her heart.

Let people despise us for praising and worshipping God. Serving God is what I am called to do. Don’t let anyone stand in your way doing what God has called you to do.

  22. 12 And said unto them, Ye are the chief of the fathers of the Levites: sanctify yourselves, both ye and your brethren, that ye may bring up the ark of the Lord God of Israel unto the place that I have prepared for it.
We must sanctify ourselves before doing His work. “Consecrate yourselves, therefore, and be holy; for I am the LORD your God. Keep my statutes, and do them; I am the LORD who sanctifies you” (Lev 20:7–8)

  23. 1 Chronicles 16:27 (KJV Strong’s)

    27 Glory and honour are in his presence;
strength and gladness are in his place.

    Glory – splendor, majesty, vigor
    Honor- glory and dignity
    Strength – might, boldness
    Gladness – joy

Vigor, honor, dignity, strength, boldness, might, and joy are freely obtained when we are in the presence of almighty God. Whatever we need can be found in his presence. The Bible says that with God all things are possible. The word with in that scripture means in the presence of God.

    Need strength?
    Pray and worship
    Joy?
    Pray and worship
    Help?
    Pray and worship

Whatever you need can be found when you pray and worship because that brings his presence.

  24. 13 For because ye did it not at the first, the Lord our God made a breach upon us, for that we sought him not after the due order.

It is our own ignorance if we do not ask for guidance from God first and our leaders, we could learn a great deal and skip having to learn a lesson the hard way if we would seek after guidance!!

  25. The Lord appointed people to do his work. There must be a willing vessel in order for the work of the Lord to be done. Lets choose what God wants us to do.

  26. v29 And it happened, as the ark of the covenant of the LORD came to the City of David, that Michal the daughter of Saul, looking through a window, saw King David whirling and playing music; and she despised him in her heart.

True worship involves more than our thoughts. It affects our emotions the inward part that we call the heart.
I’m pretty sure that David’s praise and worship came from a repentant heart that was pure and honest. He was showing GOD the affection of his heart expressing his love to GOD in worship.
This helps us to see that worship involves every area of out lives and helps us grow spiritually as it attracts others to the LORD.

  27. 2 Then David said, None ought to carry the ark of God but the Levites: for them hath the Lord chosen to carry the ark of God, and to minister unto him for ever.

Gods desire is for us to be filled with the Holy Ghost and walk into others life causing them to turn to God.

  28. 13 For because ye did it not at the first, the Lord our God made a breach upon us, for that we sought him not after the due order.

How much could have been saved if the first time we seek God on all matters. We invest time and treasure that will never return if it was not done properly. It this place it cost a life and im pretty sure the hurt of many others as well. The words of brother Smith come to mind right now, ” im noy saying or moving on what I feel but on what I know.” sometimes its ok to ask if unsure.. Its always good to go on what you know. You never go wrong asking directions from your leadership, from God, from those in authority over you, for that way you are covered.

  29. 21 And Mattithiah, and Elipheleh, and Mikneiah, and Obededom, and Jeiel, and Azaziah, with harps on the Sheminith to excel.

Sometimes we have the opener unity to serve in several roles, Obededom played the harp, was a door keeper, and it was at his house. As men and women of God, we too have opertunity to be a part of many roles. We must be ready, whatever role we enter, so that we serve the King of Kings with honor, realizing that even the wisest person ever asked for wisdom to be able to speak to God’s people.

  30. 29 And it came to pass, as the ark of the covenant of the Lord came to the city of David, that Michal, the daughter of Saul looking out at a window saw king David dancing and playing: and she despised him in her heart.

Our praises are to the lord, it doesn’t matter how others feel about it! God deserve all the praise the glory and the honor.

  31. “And the children of the Levites bare the ark of God upon their shoulders with the staves thereon, as Moses commanded according to the word of the Lord.” The word of God (Jesus) identifies beginning. The ark was too be transported by the Levites and by no other person or means. One may think their way is better or even more efficient; however as we learned it could be very costly in the end. The word of God and all that is therein is not too be altered or changed, as it could be very costly in the end (judgement day). Dear God, help us to understand that it must be your will and your way before our own. God Bless America, Israel, Jerusalem, and you all in Jesus name, Amen!

  32. “And it came to pass, as the ark of the covenant of the Lord came to the city of David, that Michal, the daughter of Saul looking out at a window saw king David dancing and playing: and she despised him in her heart.” Michal looked down on David as she thought he should have acted differently. We should never despise anyone for their worship, even if it is only in our heart. We should also be mindful that the Lord sees differently than we do, as he sees the heart; therefore the Lord knows if it is a show or sincere worship. God let us first be mindful of our own ways and our own praise, in Jesus name.

  33. When the ark of the covenant is returned back to its rightful place, the people shout, sing and dance. David takes a demonstrative part in the celebration. David’s wife chooses not to join in the praise and watched her husband dance and celebrate, but she just can’t suppress her bitterness (2Sa 6:16). The root of her bitterness could have laid in the hands of two men that used her for their own purpose: King Saul her father and King David her husband. Undoubtedly her anger is justifiable. However, she allows her anger to deteriorate into smoldering resentment and hatred that ignites into accusations (2Sa 6:20). Consequently she finds no joy in the Lords presence, and because of state of her heart she lives the rest of her life alone. It’s a dangerous place to be the stumbling block for another to fall because we weren’t being a godly example. The way Michal was treated by men of God impacted her and hindered her walk that in the middle of a praise break in the presence of God she felt nothing but anger. We have to be careful not to be the person doing the hindering nor the person allowing to be hindered.

  34. 13 For because ye did it not at the first, the Lord our God made a breach upon us, for that we sought him not after the due order.

It’s important for us to seek God first everyday, when we have a problem we need to pray to God first before anything else!

  35. How lucky we are to be able to come before the Lord and have no intermidator. In the days of the Ark God selected specific people to minister
And be close to the Ark, no one was able to enter the Holy place except who GOD appointed. TODAY we have freedom to come to His presence, to dance in His presence, we can be before the Lord any place any time, we don’t need to know that Got is with us by having the Ark in out town, because God lives in US. How privileged we are!!!! Thank You Jesus!

  36. In this chapter we find a great example of the difference of being called to ministry and just stepping into ministry without calling! This brings one word to my mind which obedience! We must be careful as to what we obey, whom we obey, what voices we listen, whom we hang out with, how we talk, dress, etc. The moment we signed a conveant for those that did you were making vow between you and the LORD NOT you and Pastor not you and pofw not you and the minsitry team. You were making a vow to God! Often times we can find ourselves if we are not careful giving into the things of the flesh or temptation! In the bible it specifically tells us that the devil comes to kill and destroy and that hes like a lurking lion seeking that which me may devour! Don’t allow the enemy to steal your call of ministry because of your lack of obedience!

  37. 12 and addressed them: “As leaders of your Levitical families, set yourselves apart, both you and your relatives, so you can be qualified to bring up the ark of the LORD God of Israel to the place I’ve prepared for it.

As leaders we must all set ourselves apart not only you but your family to be ready for the Lord. As leaders we must set that example that even though we are humans we must constantly seek to be holy as the Lord commanded us to be. Same power Jesus healed is the same power that lives in us. We don’t do the miracles or healings but know who does. There is power in His name and NOTHING is impossible for HIM!!!! Set yourself apart and lift the name of Jesus and He will do the rest. Hallelujah!!!!!

    John 12:32
And I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people to myself.”

  38. 16 David therefore did as God commanded him: and they smote the host of the Philistines from Gibeon even to Gazer.

17 And the fame of David went out into all lands; and the Lord brought the fear of him upon all nations.

In this chapter David is blessed by God. David learned to seek God whenever he had a need.

  39. “Then David said, None ought to carry the ark of God but the Levites: for them hath the Lord chosen to carry the ark of God, and to minister unto him for ever.”
    ‭‭1 Chronicles‬ ‭15:2‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Going back to the way God purposed

When we try to do things ourselves we often are brought back to the original way God wanted it done. More often the reason we go back to God’s way is because we have an unforgettable expirence. After our lives are forever changed, we turn back to God’s original plan.

  40. 12 And said unto them, Ye are the chief of the fathers of the Levites: sanctify yourselves, both ye and your brethren, that ye may bring up the ark of the Lord God of Israel unto the place that I have prepared for it.

Before ministering we go through a process of prayer, fasting, reading the Word, sacrifice etc. Its to focus ourselves on God and to draw close to him so we can hear where he wants to take us. The reason why the move of the ark was not successful is because they didn’t follow the process of how it should be escorted. This time they will do it right in repentance.
