1 Chronicles 16

1 So they brought the ark of God, and set it in the midst of the tent that David had pitched for it: and they offered burnt sacrifices and peace offerings before God.

2 And when David had made an end of offering the burnt offerings and the peace offerings, he blessed the people in the name of the Lord.

3 And he dealt to every one of Israel, both man and woman, to every one a loaf of bread, and a good piece of flesh, and a flagon of wine.

4 And he appointed certain of the Levites to minister before the ark of the Lord, and to record, and to thank and praise the Lord God of Israel:

5 Asaph the chief, and next to him Zechariah, Jeiel, and Shemiramoth, and Jehiel, and Mattithiah, and Eliab, and Benaiah, and Obededom: and Jeiel with psalteries and with harps; but Asaph made a sound with cymbals;

6 Benaiah also and Jahaziel the priests with trumpets continually before the ark of the covenant of God.

7 Then on that day David delivered first this psalm to thank the Lord into the hand of Asaph and his brethren.

8 Give thanks unto the Lord, call upon his name, make known his deeds among the people.

9 Sing unto him, sing psalms unto him, talk ye of all his wondrous works.

10 Glory ye in his holy name: let the heart of them rejoice that seek the Lord.

11 Seek the Lord and his strength, seek his face continually.

12 Remember his marvellous works that he hath done, his wonders, and the judgments of his mouth;

13 O ye seed of Israel his servant, ye children of Jacob, his chosen ones.

14 He is the Lord our God; his judgments are in all the earth.

15 Be ye mindful always of his covenant; the word which he commanded to a thousand generations;

16 Even of the covenant which he made with Abraham, and of his oath unto Isaac;

17 And hath confirmed the same to Jacob for a law, and to Israel for an everlasting covenant,

18 Saying, Unto thee will I give the land of Canaan, the lot of your inheritance;

19 When ye were but few, even a few, and strangers in it.

20 And when they went from nation to nation, and from one kingdom to another people;

21 He suffered no man to do them wrong: yea, he reproved kings for their sakes,

22 Saying, Touch not mine anointed, and do my prophets no harm.

23 Sing unto the Lord, all the earth; shew forth from day to day his salvation.

24 Declare his glory among the heathen; his marvellous works among all nations.

25 For great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised: he also is to be feared above all gods.

26 For all the gods of the people are idols: but the Lord made the heavens.

27 Glory and honour are in his presence; strength and gladness are in his place.

28 Give unto the Lord, ye kindreds of the people, give unto the Lord glory and strength.

29 Give unto the Lord the glory due unto his name: bring an offering, and come before him: worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness.

30 Fear before him, all the earth: the world also shall be stable, that it be not moved.

31 Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice: and let men say among the nations, The Lord reigneth.

32 Let the sea roar, and the fulness thereof: let the fields rejoice, and all that is therein.

33 Then shall the trees of the wood sing out at the presence of the Lord, because he cometh to judge the earth.

34 O give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever.

35 And say ye, Save us, O God of our salvation, and gather us together, and deliver us from the heathen, that we may give thanks to thy holy name, and glory in thy praise.

36 Blessed be the Lord God of Israel for ever and ever. And all the people said, Amen, and praised the Lord.

37 So he left there before the ark of the covenant of the Lord Asaph and his brethren, to minister before the ark continually, as every day’s work required:

38 And Obededom with their brethren, threescore and eight; Obededom also the son of Jeduthun and Hosah to be porters:

39 And Zadok the priest, and his brethren the priests, before the tabernacle of the Lord in the high place that was at Gibeon,

40 To offer burnt offerings unto the Lord upon the altar of the burnt offering continually morning and evening, and to do according to all that is written in the law of the Lord, which he commanded Israel;

41 And with them Heman and Jeduthun, and the rest that were chosen, who were expressed by name, to give thanks to the Lord, because his mercy endureth for ever;

42 And with them Heman and Jeduthun with trumpets and cymbals for those that should make a sound, and with musical instruments of God. And the sons of Jeduthun were porters.

43 And all the people departed every man to his house: and David returned to bless his house.

  1. The end of verses 1-3 MSG says “…..When David had completed the offerings of worship, he blessed the people in the name of God. Then he passed around to every one there, men and women alike, a loaf of bread, a slice of barbecue, and a raisin cake.” This reminded me of what’s coming up “Western Day”…..barbecue anyone?? Western Day is one of our opportunities to do as the beginning of verses 8-19 MSG say “Thank God! Call out his Name! Tell the whole world who he is and what he’s done! Sing to him! Play songs for him! Broadcast all his wonders!….”.

    Verses 34-36 MSG reminds me also of how we begin our blog every day ” “JESUS today YOU will SAVE me” as these verses say “Give thanks to God—he is good and his love never quits. Say, “Save us, Savior God, round us up and get us out of these godless places, So we can give thanks to your holy Name, and bask in your life of praise.” Blessed be God, the God of Israel, from everlasting to everlasting. Then everybody said, “Yes! Amen!” and “Praise God!” Never quit and in everything give thanks!

  2. “Give unto the Lord the glory due unto his name”

    We could worship the rest of our natural lives, all our waking hours and still not glorify the name of Jesus that is due. Thinking this morning; could I mumber all the things He has done for me – no way. There are things He does for us we may never know.

    We might say that we could list all the blessings the Lord has given us and declare that His praise only needs to be a certain measured amount. The moment the list is considered complete you must keep going as you still have the ability to breathe, think, write, see, etc.

    God is too good to number. He is too good to ever stop praising and worshiping Him.

  3. 3. And he dealt to every one of Israel, both man and woman, to every one a loaf of bread, and a good piece of flesh, and a flagon of wine.

    8.Give thanks unto the Lord, call upon his name, make known his deeds among the people.

    Sounds like Western Day to me – a dinner roll, a good piece of brisket, and a glass of sweet tea…after giving thanks unto the Lord, calling upon His Name, and making His deeds known among the many people that came for the aforementioned brisket.

  4. 8 Give thanks unto the Lord, call upon his name, make known his deeds among the people.

    9 Sing unto him, sing psalms unto him, talk ye of all his wondrous works.

    10 Glory ye in his holy name: let the heart of them rejoice that seek the Lord.

    11 Seek the Lord and his strength, seek his face continually.

    12 Remember his marvellous works that he hath done, his wonders, and the judgments of his mouth;

    13 O ye seed of Israel his servant, ye children of Jacob, his chosen ones.

    14 He is the Lord our God; his judgments are in all the earth.

    15 Be ye mindful always of his covenant; the word which he commanded to a thousand generations;

    16 Even of the covenant which he made with Abraham, and of his oath unto Isaac;

    17 And hath confirmed the same to Jacob for a law, and to Israel for an everlasting covenant,

    18 Saying, Unto thee will I give the land of Canaan, the lot of your inheritance;

    19 When ye were but few, even a few, and strangers in it.

    20 And when they went from nation to nation, and from one kingdom to another people;

    This chapter is full of beautiful words. Statements I I have heard all thru out my life. Also admonishments.

    9 Sing unto him, sing psalms unto him, talk ye of all his wondrous works.

    Seek the Lord and Hus strength.

    Admonishments such as do my anointed no harm.

    If we will get into the word daily we will find many nuggets that have been passed down from generation to generation that will bless you and your family.
    Living by these admonishments not because you are made to do it but because it becomes a part of your heart it is the word read it live it.

  5. 21 He suffered no man to do them wrong: yea, he reproved kings for their sakes,

    22 Saying, Touch not mine anointed, and do my prophets no harm.
    Thank God for his protection for the people of God! We are safe and we’ll cared for as children of God.

  6. iLove to Grow in the Word
    1 Chronicles 16:4 NLT David appointed the following Levites to lead the people in worship before the Ark of the LORD—to invoke His blessings, to give thanks, and to praise the LORD, the God of Israel.

    King David appointed “Levites” as the singers. This verse shows us several things. The first is that King David did the appointing. The second is it was from the Levitical priesthood. One thing that must be considered, as well, is that the worship was to glorify God and bring him praise. This will invoke the blessings of the Lord.

    Come on modern day Levites, invoke the blessings of the Lord on this place.

  7. 8 Give thanks unto the Lord, call upon his name, make known his deeds among the people.

    9 Sing unto him, sing psalms unto him, talk ye of all his wondrous works.

    10 Glory ye in his holy name: let the heart of them rejoice that seek the Lord.

    11 Seek the Lord and his strength, seek his face continually.

    12 Remember his marvellous works that he hath done, his wonders, and the judgments of his mouth;

    13 O ye seed of Israel his servant, ye children of Jacob, his chosen ones.

    14 He is the Lord our God; his judgments are in all the earth.

  8. 11 Seek the Lord and his strength, seek his face continually.

    12 Remember his marvellous works that he hath done, his wonders, and the judgments of his mouth;

    Remember to always and continually seek God and seek his ways in your life. And remember how he is delivered you and what he has done for you in the past, don’t be like the Israelites in the wilderness that didn’t remember what God did for them in Egypt, but remember the miracles he has done for you.

  9. 1 Chronicles 16:23-24 (NLT)
    23) Let the whole earth sing to the LORD! Each day proclaim the good news that he saves.
    24) Publish his glorious deeds among the nations. Tell everyone about the amazing things he does.

    “GO” share the gospel of Jesus Christ and share your testimony with someone today! “GO” Tell them that HE SAVES and “GO” Tell them about the AMAZING THINGS HE DOES!!

  10. Praise and Worship!!
    God is worthy to be PRAISED!! I woke up from horrible dreams this morning. After praying, God knew just the chapter I needed today. Thank you Jesus!!
    34 O give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever.

  11. 29 Give unto the Lord the glory due unto his name: bring an offering, and come before him: worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness.

    Praise his name. For he is worthy of the praise.

  12. PRAISE AND WORSHIP UNTO THE LORD

    In these 13 verses, we see what Sunday’s Praise and Worship should look and sound like. Clean HANDS, Pure HEART, Thankful ATTITUDE, Joyful SPIRIT, Holy LIFESTYLE, Willing SACRIFICE.

    All of CREATION responds to the presence of GOD, The sea, the trees, the fields and most importantly MAN. May JESUS help us to purpose in our heart that when we come before the ARK of GOD, a type of the pulpit that we sincerely enter into HIS gates with Thanksgiving, HIS courts with Praise and are Thankful unto HIM.

    The order:

    1 So they brought the ark of God, and set it in the midst of the tent that David had pitched for it: and they offered burnt sacrifices and peace offerings before God.

    Get THERE.

    SEEK AFTER and PRAISE the LORD

    14 He is the Lord our God; his judgments are in all the earth.
    15 Be ye mindful always of his covenant; the word which he commanded to a thousand generations;

    REVERENCE and HONOR the LORD; HIS promises and HIS commands.

    iRepent
    iPraise
    iPray
    iWork
    iGive
    iReap

  13. 37 So he left there before the ark of the covenant of the Lord Asaph and his brethren, to minister before the ark continually, as every day’s work required:

    It was their assigned duty to minister before the ark continually, everyday…… There are things in our walk with God that are important that we strengthen those areas everyday be doing them, building them up ….. Prayer, Reading the Word, speaking and exhibiting faith in our actions etc.

    These things not only bring strength to us, but in doing us we are ministering to the presence of the Lord by our actions.

  14. 29 Give unto the Lord the glory due unto his name: bring an offering, and come before him: worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness.

  15. ……Even though you’re not much to look at, a few straggling strangers.”
    1 Chronicles 16:19 MSG
    http://bible.com/97/1ch.16.8-19.MSG

    This is an example of how GOD IS GLORIFIED. People may say that you and i are weird, strange and even misfits (not status quo) but GOD GETS THE GLORY!!! GOD ALWAYS GETS THE GLORY !!! IT’S NEVER IN OUR STRENGTH, OR OUR BEAUTY , BUT ALWAYS THE GOD THAT LIVES IN US!!! JESUS IS HIS NAME!!!

    1 Corinthians 1 : 27 -31 KJV
    27 But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;
    28 And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are:
    29 That no flesh should glory in his presence.
    30 But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:
    31 That, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.

  16. 8 Give thanks unto the Lord, call upon his name, make known his deeds among the people.

    9 Sing unto him, sing psalms unto him, talk ye of all his wondrous works.

    10 Glory ye in his holy name: let the heart of them rejoice that seek the Lord.

    11 Seek the Lord and his strength, seek his face continually.

    12 Remember his marvellous works that he hath done, his wonders, and the judgments of his mouth;

    How great is our Savior!!! How can I ever stop praising Him for He is so Good and His Mercy Endureth for ever!!!! I will never ever forget where He brought me from!!! In ALL I will Praise His Holy Name!! Hallelujah!!!!

  17. 1 Chronicles 15:28 (KJV Strong’s)
    28 Thus all Israel brought up the ark of the covenant of the Lord with shouting, and with sound of the cornet, and with trumpets, and with cymbals, making a noise with psalteries and harps.

    The first time David tried to bring the ark he used a new cart and the Lord killed Uzza. This time David wasn’t taking any chances. He understood what was a stake and educated himself on the way God said it needed to be done.

    I would say the biggest lesson from this story isn’t obedience but rather something else.

    IT MATTERS HOW YOU CARRY THE ARK.

    Today we do not have the ark but we do have the Holy Ghost. God doesn’t want us to flippantly carry his spirit just any way. He doesn’t want us trying to advertise we have the Holy Ghost if we are living lives contrary to the Bible.

    If we do not live for God the way that he says people won’t think we are wrong but they will think that that is he way that God is.

    We must carry this beautiful treasure we have been given with honor, respect, and reverence. We should also accompany it with singing praises and worshipping the Lord.

  18. Verses 7-36 is David’s song of praise, and it’s a long beautiful one. Kinda made me think, what does our song of praise look like?

  19. 41 And with them Heman and Jeduthun, and the rest that were chosen, who were expressed by name, to give thanks to the Lord, because his mercy endureth for ever;

    Give thanks to the Lord. It seems that we may forget constantly how many benefits/blessings the Lord pours over us daily. The gratest blessing its his mercy. Thank you Jesus for another day of life. Thank you for thy salvation and the sacrifice of Love. Thank God for the blood. Thank you fornthe wonderful and marvelous works.

    Im reminded that the Word tells us to gibe thanks in all things. Moreover im thankful that his mercies are new every morning.

  20. 36 Blessed be the Lord God of Israel for ever and ever. And all the people said, Amen, and praised the Lord.

    Amen amen! Bless the lord forever!

  21. “O nations of the world, recognize the LORD, recognize that the LORD is glorious and strong.”
    ‭‭1 Chronicles‬ ‭16:28 NLT

    We are a blessed people that we know and can recognize the goodness of our God, but there are others out there who are not so fortunate, and it is up to us to go out and speak of his greatness in hopes that we can open their eyes to the glory of our God!!

  22. 29 Give unto the Lord the glory due unto his name: bring an offering, and come before him: worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness.

    In this chapter we not only find a great example of Sunday worship but we also see a great example of bringing a offering into the house of the LORD! Remember the first 10 percent of what me make before taxes belongs to the LORD as our tithe and whatever the LORD would lay on our heart we should give that as a offering! Be careful to fufill this commandment of giving and praise the LORD for all he has and is going to do! POFW we are the verge of making a impact! Heard the great report recently of the woman that mailed $10 to the church and is now attending a apostolic church! That is outreach! Great job pofw! Thank you to each man and woman for your sacrifice and commitment to do the work for the kingdom of God in reaching the lost!

  23. 6 Benaiah also and Jahaziel the priests with trumpets continually before the ark of the covenant of God.

    Who ever said that church should be a quiet place hasn’t read the bible.

  24. “Give thanks unto the Lord, call upon his name, make known his deeds among the people.” The word of God (Judge) was very clear. As David stated one shall never do anything without God, for he is the source of our very breath. One that thinks or states differently will have a day (judgement day) too debate it. Dear God, bless me with a heart of thankfulness and humility. God Bless America, Israel, Jerusalem, and you all in Jesus name, Amen!

  25. “And say ye, Save us, O God of our salvation, and gather us together, and deliver us from the heathen, that we may give thanks to thy holy name, and glory in thy praise.” There is no such thing as once and done; therefore we can never give up as long as we have breath. We must however seek the Lord all the more as his return draws closer. God bless us with a mindset as David had, in Jesus name.

  26. I Chronicles 16:12 Remember his marvellous works that he hath done, his wonders, and the judgments of his mouth;

    They soon forgot what he had done…They forgot the God who saved them, who had done great things in Egypt.
    Psalm 106:13,21

    Yet 1 Chronicles 16:12 urges us to “Remember the wonders he [God] has done.” We all have those times when God breaks through to our awareness like a bright spotlight!

  27. “And he dealt to every one of Israel, both man and woman, to every one a loaf of bread, and a good piece of flesh, and a flagon of wine.”
    ‭‭1 Chronicles‬ ‭16:3‬ ‭KJV‬‬

    They had their daily bread. They connected and took part in the word of God.

  28. Nature declares the creativity and power of the God of creation. They do this just by displaying God’s handiwork, nature sings God’s praises. The ocean, fields and forest don’t have the voice to sing nor mind to compose yet praise God. Only we as Gods creation have the ability to form words of glory and honor to the Master Creator. Even with that ability it may feel as though we cannot adequately express how much we appreciate Gods goodness and love. So we join with nature and paint a poetic picture of God’s majesty and grace.

  29. 14 He is the Lord our God; his judgments are in all the earth.

    God is going to come back and judge us for our rights and wrongs and we need to be ready for when that time comes!

  30. Seek the Lord and his strength, seek his face continually. Remember his marvellous works that he hath done, his wonders, and the judgments of his mouth;(1 Chronicles 16:11‭-‬12)

    Seek the Lord and his strength, seek his face continually. Remember his marvellous works that he hath done, his wonders, and the judgments of his mouth;(1 Chronicles 16:11‭-‬12)

    We the children of God seek our Lord and know that he is our source of strength. David said “Blessed are those whose strength is in you.” (Ps 84:5). He knew that God was the one who both strengthened him in times of battle and was with him in blessing. When we seek after the Lord he will never lead us astray because we can remember the great things he has already done.

  31. v40 to offer burnt offerings to the LORD on the altar of burnt offering regularly morning and evening, and to do according to all that is written in the Law of the LORD which He commanded Israel;

    When we live in an attitude of praise and worship , our daily stresses and worries will not overwhelm our hearts because there is awareness of HIS PRESENCE. True worship help us to be kingdom minded and keep our priorities in proper oder.

  32. 11 Seek the Lord and his strength, seek his face continually.

    12 Remember his marvellous works that he hath done, his wonders, and the judgments of his mouth;
    Regardless of what I’m going through, you are still worthy of praise.

  33. Gods love never fails. No matter what we do. He loves us and he is ready to forgive those who repent. Nothing you can do will separate you from the love in Christ Jesus.

  34. 7 Then on that day David delivered first this psalm to thank the Lord into the hand of Asaph and his brethren.

  35. 23 Sing unto the Lord, all the earth; shew forth from day to day his salvation.

    A song in our heart and a praise on our lips. That is way it should be done.

  36. 7 Then on that day David delivered first this psalm to thank the Lord into the hand of Asaph and his brethren.

    Praise God!!!!! What a beautiful psalm delivered by David. Despite everything we must always give thanks to God for the big and the little things. We must give Him thanks in advance for everything He is going to give us. Everything we have is because of Him…..I can’t do NOTHING without you Lord. Thank You for everything……

  37. “Seek the Lord and his strength, seek his face continually.”
    ‭‭1 Chronicles‬ ‭16:11‬ ‭KJV‬‬

    Such wisdom! When we seek after the Lord, he gives us strength like we cannot find on our own. Our strength will fail, but his strength does not. His ways are not our ways. I always find that when I need strength I find it when I lean on God.

  38. 26 For all the gods of the people are idols: but the Lord made the heavens.

    It reminds me of my wifes family. Everytime I walk into there homes, they are filled with shrines and portraits of idols. Portrayed as holy people, with halo’s and glowing faces, they are displayed to bring reverence. They are prayed to with earnest prayers and supplication. They have no life, nor can they move, breathe, talk, smell, see, hear, or feel. That means that have a mouth but they can’t speak, noses but they can’t use them, they have ears but can not listen, skin but not touch.

    Why is it then that they are revered and worshipped? Its human nature that put them there. If we can have them on our walls, our wallets, or hanging on the rear view in our cars, then we can control them. If we want we can tear them to pieces and they couldn’t do nothing about that. We turn the painting around when were doing something we don’t want them to see (like if they could), or rub on them when we want to feel better. In other words, we have complete control of them.

    Humans do not like to not have control. When we have to be dependent on something or someone else. That’s is the reason a lot of people struggle with giving there lives to God. They want the last say so.

    David writes something important. But or after the fact, God is saying, “i made the heavens, when you see the sky, everything that you see was spoken into existence because I told uttered the word Let there be, and there was.” Could you not submit to the, all knowing, all powerful, everywhere God? The one that has all the answers, that He loves his creation so much he became flesh to abide among us. Nothing made by human hands deserves to be even said of to be close to and idol.
    He is God and is interested not just to know him, but for you to see him face to face one day.
