1 Chronicles 18

1 Now after this it came to pass, that David smote the Philistines, and subdued them, and took Gath and her towns out of the hand of the Philistines.

2 And he smote Moab; and the Moabites became David’s servants, and brought gifts.

3 And David smote Hadarezer king of Zobah unto Hamath, as he went to stablish his dominion by the river Euphrates.

4 And David took from him a thousand chariots, and seven thousand horsemen, and twenty thousand footmen: David also houghed all the chariot horses, but reserved of them an hundred chariots.

5 And when the Syrians of Damascus came to help Hadarezer king of Zobah, David slew of the Syrians two and twenty thousand men.

6 Then David put garrisons in Syriadamascus; and the Syrians became David’s servants, and brought gifts. Thus the Lord preserved David whithersoever he went.

7 And David took the shields of gold that were on the servants of Hadarezer, and brought them to Jerusalem.

8 Likewise from Tibhath, and from Chun, cities of Hadarezer, brought David very much brass, wherewith Solomon made the brasen sea, and the pillars, and the vessels of brass.

9 Now when Tou king of Hamath heard how David had smitten all the host of Hadarezer king of Zobah;

10 He sent Hadoram his son to king David, to enquire of his welfare, and to congratulate him, because he had fought against Hadarezer, and smitten him; (for Hadarezer had war with Tou;) and with him all manner of vessels of gold and silver and brass.

11 Them also king David dedicated unto the Lord, with the silver and the gold that he brought from all these nations; from Edom, and from Moab, and from the children of Ammon, and from the Philistines, and from Amalek.

12 Moreover Abishai the son of Zeruiah slew of the Edomites in the valley of salt eighteen thousand.

13 And he put garrisons in Edom; and all the Edomites became David’s servants. Thus the Lord preserved David whithersoever he went.

14 So David reigned over all Israel, and executed judgment and justice among all his people.

15 And Joab the son of Zeruiah was over the host; and Jehoshaphat the son of Ahilud, recorder.

16 And Zadok the son of Ahitub, and Abimelech the son of Abiathar, were the priests; and Shavsha was scribe;

17 And Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was over the Cherethites and the Pelethites; and the sons of David were chief about the king.

  1. Sometimes ? No, all the time is good to serve the Lord.

David had it good w the Lord. He fought the fight and did what the Lord wanted him to do. I sure look up to David he was the man for the job. He did what the Lord told him to do and then he got rewarded.

I remember times when the Lord asked . Me to do things and I did them. The Lord blessed me tremendousely. I thankyou Lord for I all the things you…my Lord… for me and my family.

  2. GIVE THE EXCESS TO GOD

    9 Now when Tou king of Hamath heard how David had smitten all the host of Hadarezer king of Zobah;

There is great BLESSING in VICTORY. GOD had BLESSED David to defeat and conquer in every battle. With each VICTORY came resources and riches. As Leader of Israel, David was gifted in excess for his Leadership.

Verse 11 indicates that King David, dedicated the spoil and gifts to the LORD. Revealing an attitude of GIVING unto GOD. We are wise to prayerfully consider our resources and evaluate what the LORD gives us to use and what the LORD gives us to BLESS HIM.

    The TITHE is the LORDS.
Leviticus 27:30 And all the tithe of the land, whether of the seed of the land, or of the fruit of the tree, is the Lord’s: it is holy unto the Lord.

What King David offered the LORD was not Tithe, but offering. We are to bring the TITHE that belongs to GOD and bring an OFFERING and GIVE THE EXCESS TO GOD. We are unable to bring an offering to GOD if we spend in excess of what he has BLESSED us with. We often position ourselves to be BLESSED. Today seek to position ourselves to be a BLESSING.

  3. Spoils of war

Many “Christians” of various religious beliefs, think that once they are saved their struggles are over; that life will be smooth sailing from here, on out . . . we know better. Not only does God allow battles in our life, He also has a glorious purpose for them. God is interested in a more than making us victors in our battles. He wants to give us spoils, goods, spiritual riches from our warfare. We are to emerge from battle with wagon loads of resources.

Does the Lord expect us to win every battle? Yes. His word states He will never expect more than we are capable of doing. 1 Cor. 10:13 …remember is that God will never let you down; he’ll never let you be pushed past your limit; he’ll always be there to help you come through it… Rom. 8:37 We are more than conquerors and gain a surpassing victory through Him Who loved us.

Are you in a battle? Have you just claimed a victory? If so, look for the spoils. They are there for us.

  4. 6 Then David put garrisons in Syriadamascus; and the Syrians became David’s servants, and brought gifts. Thus the Lord preserved David whithersoever he went.

13 And he put garrisons in Edom; and all the Edomites became David’s servants. Thus the Lord preserved David whithersoever he went.

God made David Victory just like he promised in yesterday chapter

  5. 10 He sent Hadoram his son to king David, to enquire of his welfare, and to congratulate him, because he had fought against Hadarezer, and smitten him; (for Hadarezer had war with Tou;) and with him all manner of vessels of gold and silver and brass.

11 Them also king David dedicated unto the Lord, with the silver and the gold that he brought from all these nations; from Edom, and from Moab, and from the children of Ammon, and from the Philistines, and from Amalek.

  6. The end of verse 6 in the MSG says “….God gave victory to David wherever he marched” and also the end of verse 13 “……God gave David victory wherever he marched.” This reminded me of our Prayer Walk that we do downtown. In Deuteronomy 1:21 AMP it says “Behold, the Lord your God has set the land before you; go up and take possession of it, just as the Lord, the God of your fathers, has spoken to you. Do not fear or be dismayed.’”

  7. And he put garrisons in Edom; and all the Edomites became David’s servants. Thus the Lord preserved David whithersoever he went.

14 So David reigned over all Israel, and executed judgment and justice among all his people.
It’s amazing how God blessed and favored Danica however if you watch David over and over again made great sacrifices to God and serve God with all of his heart. So it’s not a coincidence that David was blessed he was blessed because of his faithfulness to God and to the house of God if we want David type blessings we must serve the kingdom of God and the house of God with a whole heart just like David.

  8. iLove to Grow in the Word

1 Chronicles 18:1 NLT After this, David defeated and subdued the Philistines by conquering Gath and its surrounding towns.

Notice that David subdues the Philistines by conquering them. The Philistines are a type and shadow in the New Testament of the flesh. Do you see what happens when God uses David to conquer the fleshly Philistines? Yep, all the nations around start bringing gifts. What did David use these gifts for? Yep, you guessed it! He dedicated it to the house of the Lord. Boom, what does that tell us? Glad you asked. It tells us that the proof is in the pudding. Yep, when we start bringing offerings to the Lord with joy (the pagans even brought offerings to David joyfully because they were not dead) and those around us bring offerings for the house of the Lord it proves we have conquered the flesh!

  9. Not only was David obedient and faithful to God, but he gave all his blessings, from victories, back to the Lord. All we have to do is follow this good example.

  10. 11 Them also king David dedicated unto the Lord, with the silver and the gold that he brought from all these nations; from Edom, and from Moab, and from the children of Ammon, and from the Philistines, and from Amalek.

  11. 1 Chronicles 18:6 & 13
    6) … Thus the LORD preserved David whithersoever he went.
    13) … Thus the LORD preserved David whithersoever he went.

PRESERVED – one Bible version says, “the LORD protected David.”
Another one says, “the LORD helped David.” And another one says, “the LORD gave victory to David.”

Protect, Help, give Victory to – Thank You JESUS that you Preserve us too.
Ps. 145:20, “The LORD preserveth all them that love him: …”

  12. 11 Them also king David dedicated unto the Lord, with the silver and the gold that he brought from all these nations; from Edom, and from Moab, and from the children of Ammon, and from the Philistines, and from Amalek.

Bless others and you will be blessed, give and it shall be given unto you, reap what you want to sow!

  13. 29 Give unto the Lord the glory due unto his name: bring an offering, and come before him: worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness.

30 Fear before him, all the earth: the world also shall be stable, that it be not moved.

31 Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice: and let men say among the nations, The Lord reigneth.

32 Let the sea roar, and the fulness thereof: let the fields rejoice, and all that is therein.

  14. Psalm 23:5
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

I don’t read where King David asked GOD for more servants but GOD have them to him.

MY GOD KNOWS EXACTLY WHAT WE NEED!!!

  15. 6 Then David put garrisons in Syriadamascus; and the Syrians became David’s servants, and brought gifts. Thus the Lord preserved David whithersoever he went.

Hallelujah!! Blessings and favor!!there is victory in the name of Jesus!

  16. 1 Chronicles 18:8 (GNT with Deuterocanon)
8 He also took a great quantity of bronze from Tibhath and Kun, cities ruled by Hadadezer. (Solomon later used this bronze to make the tank, the columns, and the bronze utensils for the Temple.)

It took great sacrifice to produce the instruments of sacrifice. Salvation isn’t cheap.

  17. Leaders Organize
    Human Resources
    I Chronicles 18-14-17

David understood that he was to organize human gifts and talents. As scripture says, he “administered judgment and justice to all his people.” The next verses report how the king placed individuals in appropriate tasks according to their gifts.
Effective leaders know their primary job isn’t to amass personal acomplishments, but to accomplish as much as possile through the gifts of others.
How do leaders inspire their associates to such great heights?
1.Know the keys to their heart—what do they sing about, cry about, dream about?
2.Know the gifts in their possession—what do they do well that gets results?
3.Know the opportunities in their path—What next step fits their maturity?

    LOVE IT!!

    GROW!!!

  18. God will help us to overcome our enemies. When the enemy comes in like a thief, the spirit of the Lord will lift up a standard against him. God has it all in control.

  19. Dedicated to the Lord – David publicly acknowledged God as the source of his success by dedicating the treasures he took to the Lord.

  20. 11 Them also king David dedicated unto the Lord, with the silver and the gold that he brought from all these nations; from Edom, and from Moab, and from the children of Ammon, and from the Philistines, and from Amalek.

After every victory there was a spoil or a blessing. Then David offered it back to the Lord. Think about it. We cant out-give God. He kept blessing Davind and he brought it as an offering. What are we offering from our blessings? It is God that gives the victories and the increase.

  21. 13 And he put garrisons in Edom; and all the Edomites became David’s servants. Thus the Lord preserved David whithersoever he went.

Whereever we go God is able to preserve us. It dosnt matter the elememts around us, He will preserve us.

  22. 10 He sent Hadoram his son to king David, to enquire of his welfare, and to congratulate him, because he had fought against Hadarezer, and smitten him; (for Hadarezer had war with Tou;) and with him all manner of vessels of gold and silver and brass.

11 Them also king David dedicated unto the Lord, with the silver and the gold that he brought from all these nations; from Edom, and from Moab, and from the children of Ammon, and from the Philistines, and from Amalek.

  23. “Now after this it came to pass, that David smote the”. The word of Jesus (Creator) identifies cost. David understood that if there would ever be peace and freedom there would first be bloodshed. Albeit as we know today all that David had achieved became unappreciative, and would soon be gone. Likewise there have been many men and women that have also shed blood for America; unfortunately many are unappreciative, as their unthankful actions prove. Dear God, stir us as a God fearing Nation that we would seek you all the more. God Bless America, Israel, Jerusalem, and you all in Jesus name, Amen!

  24. “And he put garrisons in Edom; and all the Edomites became David’s servants. Thus the Lord preserved David whithersoever he went.” David did not choose his path in life; however he did what was required, and the Lord was with him. We may not always choose the path in which we are on; however we can choose to stay right, or too become right with the Lord. God help us to see that no matter the path we must be right with you, in Jesus name.

  25. 9 Now when Tou king of Hamath heard how David had smitten all the host of Hadarezer king of Zobah;
10 He sent Hadoram his son to king David, to enquire of his welfare, and to congratulate him, because he had fought against Hadarezer, and smitten him; (for Hadarezer had war with Tou;) and with him all manner of vessels of gold and silver and brass.

Just as The Word of God says, The Lord will make even the enemies of a righteous man at peace with him, we need to seek God first.

  26. “1 Now after this it came to pass, that David smote the Philistines, and subdued them, and took Gath and her towns out of the hand of the Philistines.”

God is with us just like He was with David. There are many souls in the city of Fort Worth without Jesus that need Him. And it is through prayer and spreading the word of God in our city how we will win these souls.

  27. “Therefore the king of Israel gathered together of prophets four hundred men, and said unto them, Shall we go to Ramoth–gilead to battle, or shall I forbear? And they said, Go up; for God will deliver it into the king’s hand. But Jehoshaphat said, Is there not here a prophet of the Lord besides, that we might enquire of him? And the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat, There is yet one man, by whom we may enquire of the Lord: but I hate him; for he never prophesied good unto me, but always evil: the same is Micaiah the son of Imlah. And Jehoshaphat said, Let not the king say so.

And all the prophets prophesied so, saying, Go up to Ramoth–gilead, and prosper: for the Lord shall deliver it into the hand of the king.

Then he said, I did see all Israel scattered upon the mountains, as sheep that have no shepherd: and the Lord said, These have no master; let them return therefore every man to his house in peace.

And the Lord said, Who shall entice Ahab king of Israel, that he may go up and fall at Ramoth–gilead? And one spake saying after this manner, and another saying after that manner. Then there came out a spirit, and stood before the Lord, and said, I will entice him. And the Lord said unto him, Wherewith? And he said, I will go out, and be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets. And the Lord said, Thou shalt entice him, and thou shalt also prevail: go out, and do even so. Now therefore, behold, the Lord hath put a lying spirit in the mouth of these thy prophets, and the Lord hath spoken evil against thee.

And say, Thus saith the king, Put this fellow in the prison, and feed him with bread of affliction and with water of affliction, until I return in peace. And Micaiah said, If thou certainly return in peace, then hath not the Lord spoken by me. And he said, Hearken, all ye people.

And a certain man drew a bow at a venture, and smote the king of Israel between the joints of the harness: therefore he said to his chariot man, Turn thine hand, that thou mayest carry me out of the host; for I am wounded. And the battle increased that day: howbeit the king of Israel stayed himself up in his chariot against the Syrians until the even: and about the time of the sun going down he died.”
    ‭‭2 Chronicles‬ ‭18:5-7, 11, 16, 19-22, 26-27, 33-34‬ ‭KJV‬‬

These guys had to know that something was wrong to enquirer for a “prophet of the Lord.” That means the other prophets were just”seers?” Then when they called for someone they knew would hear the voice of God they didn’t want to listen and then even threw him in jail. The final outcome was just as what the man of God spoke into his life. True men of God don’t just say things because they are easy to say or popular thought. True men of God speak words from God. They may be difficult to hear., but if they are listened to they might save your life.

  28. 13. He placed army garrisons in Edom, and all the Edomites became David’s subjects. In fact, the LORD made David victorious wherever he went. NLT

We are not only victorious at Church – through God, we can be victorious everywhere we go!

  29. AMP – 11 King David also dedicated these to the Lord [setting them apart for sacred use], with the silver and the gold which he brought from all the nations: from Edom, Moab, the Ammonites, the Philistines, and from Amalek.

David dedicated whatever he was given as spoil to the Lord. David knew the benefit of giving back to the Lord and in return the Lord blessed his endeavors and was with him.

  30. 9 Now when Tou king of Hamath heard how David had smitten all the host of Hadarezer king of Zobah;

Man seeks to glorify another man in his works, but David didn’t have anything to do with that mess. He gave all the glory to God, where it should be given!

  31. “David also won the battle over the people of Moab. They were brought under his rule. They gave him the gifts he required them to bring him. David fought against Hadadezer all the way to Hamath. Hadadezer was king of Zobah. He had gone to take complete control of the land along the Euphrates River. David captured 1,000 of Hadadezer’s chariots, 7,000 chariot riders and 20,000 soldiers on foot. He cut the legs of all but 100 of the chariot horses.”
    ‭‭1 Chronicles‬ ‭18:2-4‬ ‭NIRV‬‬

Just as David conquered the enemies Lord, I pray we would conquer our spiritual enemies.

  32. 10 He sent Hadoram his son to king David, to enquire of his welfare, and to congratulate him, because he had fought against Hadarezer, and smitten him; (for Hadarezer had war with Tou;) and with him all manner of vessels of gold and silver and brass.

When you think that you have everything figured out, there is always someone better. Hadarezar probably had been fighting Tou for the longest time, and then there comes this MAN of GOD and just wipes him out.

Don’t be astonished when you find out that the demons you battle and lose against at times, someone else is slayin his hundred thousands. Congratulate him, win him over, you can always learn from others loses and victories.

  33. 11 Them also king David dedicated unto the Lord, with the silver and the gold that he brought from all these nations; from Edom, and from Moab, and from the children of Ammon, and from the Philistines, and from Amalek.

David chooses to dedicate the gifts given to him to the Lord. He does this because he knows that the victory comes because the Lord is with him and without the Lord their would be no battles won. David may not have been the one who was allowed to build the temple but these materials like the brass make up the Sea.

  34. So David reigned over all Israel, and executed judgment and justice among all his people.(1 Chronicles 18:14 KJV)

David didn’t make war or start battles to show he was a mighty conqueror and ruler. He has the Lord with him at all times leading and guiding him as we do today. He executes judgment because the Lord uses him to do it.

  35. 13 And he put garrisons in Edom; and all the Edomites became David’s servants. Thus the Lord preserved David whithersoever he went.

14 So David reigned over all Israel, and executed judgment and justice among all his people.
