2 Chronicles 2

1 And Solomon determined to build an house for the name of the Lord, and an house for his kingdom.

2 And Solomon told out threescore and ten thousand men to bear burdens, and fourscore thousand to hew in the mountain, and three thousand and six hundred to oversee them.

3 And Solomon sent to Huram the king of Tyre, saying, As thou didst deal with David my father, and didst send him cedars to build him an house to dwell therein, even so deal with me.

4 Behold, I build an house to the name of the Lord my God, to dedicate it to him, and to burn before him sweet incense, and for the continual shewbread, and for the burnt offerings morning and evening, on the sabbaths, and on the new moons, and on the solemn feasts of the Lord our God. This is an ordinance for ever to Israel.

5 And the house which I build is great: for great is our God above all gods.

6 But who is able to build him an house, seeing the heaven and heaven of heavens cannot contain him? who am I then, that I should build him an house, save only to burn sacrifice before him?

7 Send me now therefore a man cunning to work in gold, and in silver, and in brass, and in iron, and in purple, and crimson, and blue, and that can skill to grave with the cunning men that are with me in Judah and in Jerusalem, whom David my father did provide.

8 Send me also cedar trees, fir trees, and algum trees, out of Lebanon: for I know that thy servants can skill to cut timber in Lebanon; and, behold, my servants shall be with thy servants,

9 Even to prepare me timber in abundance: for the house which I am about to build shall be wonderful great.

10 And, behold, I will give to thy servants, the hewers that cut timber, twenty thousand measures of beaten wheat, and twenty thousand measures of barley, and twenty thousand baths of wine, and twenty thousand baths of oil.

11 Then Huram the king of Tyre answered in writing, which he sent to Solomon, Because the Lord hath loved his people, he hath made thee king over them.

12 Huram said moreover, Blessed be the Lord God of Israel, that made heaven and earth, who hath given to David the king a wise son, endued with prudence and understanding, that might build an house for the Lord, and an house for his kingdom.

13 And now I have sent a cunning man, endued with understanding, of Huram my father’s,

14 The son of a woman of the daughters of Dan, and his father was a man of Tyre, skilful to work in gold, and in silver, in brass, in iron, in stone, and in timber, in purple, in blue, and in fine linen, and in crimson; also to grave any manner of graving, and to find out every device which shall be put to him, with thy cunning men, and with the cunning men of my lord David thy father.

15 Now therefore the wheat, and the barley, the oil, and the wine, which my lord hath spoken of, let him send unto his servants:

16 And we will cut wood out of Lebanon, as much as thou shalt need: and we will bring it to thee in floats by sea to Joppa; and thou shalt carry it up to Jerusalem.

17 And Solomon numbered all the strangers that were in the land of Israel, after the numbering wherewith David his father had numbered them; and they were found an hundred and fifty thousand and three thousand and six hundred.

18 And he set threescore and ten thousand of them to be bearers of burdens, and fourscore thousand to be hewers in the mountain, and three thousand and six hundred overseers to set the people a work.

  1. Verse 5-6 MSG says “The house I am building has to be the best, for our God is the best, far better than competing gods. But who is capable of building such a structure? Why, the skies—the entire cosmos!—can’t begin to contain him. And me, who am I to think I can build a house adequate for God—burning incense to him is about all I’m good for! I need your help:”. As Solomon made preparations for building the temple, he knew could not do it alone; so, he asked for help. POFW needs all of us to come together to help as we continue to GROW.

  2. 6. Though no one can build a house for Him because He inhabits the heavens and beyond, I am humbly building a place where we can encounter Him and burn incense before Him. The Voice

Our God that created and fills the universe cannot be contained inside a building, nor is that the goal of building a beautiful temple; rather, we are showing God how important He is in our lives while creating an inviting environment so that others will come to encounter Him and allow Him to change their lives and their eternal destination.

  3. 1 And Solomon determined to build an house for the name of the Lord, and an house for his kingdom.

Solomon had a strong determination to build a house for the “name ” of the Lord, How magnificent beyond all human understanding that God now dwells within the souls of men. Not in temple made by man but in a temple made by God in Himself. We are the temple and we must have His name. Solomon in determination built this temple where the Spirit of God once dwelled .What is our determination in the temple God built for one purpose?Daily we must take a look at self and determine to keep this temple our self in submission to God and to the building up of the kingdom. It does take a determined made up mind!

  4. 5 “This must be a magnificent Temple because our God is greater than all other gods.
6 But who can really build him a worthy home? Not even the highest heavens can contain him! So who am I to consider building a Temple for him, except as a place to burn sacrifices to him? (NLT)

There’s no one/thing like my God! He is matchless, holy and worthy of our best.

  5. The craftsman.

Diversity in the kingdom. Not a black church. Not a white church. Not a Spanish church. Not even an Asian church. But The Church of the living God. He created us all, so why do so many people have a problem with race. The only race the should concern us, is the race that is set before us.
We all have different skills. Not all of us work in a factory, or a bank. Some work make homes. Other food. You see we are different but when we come together we create the body of Christ. So what is your skill for God’s kingdom?

  6. 1 And Solomon determined to build an house for the name of the Lord, and an house for his kingdom.
there is something powerful in determination. When you set your mind and heart to do something and then you have God with you you are able to accomplish anything. We must expand our faith and determination to do something for God and to be used by God.

  7. 1 And Solomon determined to build an house for the name of the Lord, and an house for his kingdom.

    What great faith!

When you think about it, if you have faith that something is going to work, you are determined that it will work. If we are determined to see our families in church, we pray, fast, invite, (beg), and persuade them to come. That is our faith in action, because if we didn’t have faith then they wouldn’t come. Solomon had great faith that he was doing just as he should.

Sometimes it is our determination that Jesus is waiting to see before He answers our prayers.

  8. 1 And Solomon determined to build an house for the name of the Lord, and an house for his kingdom.

Not only do we need to be determined to built a house for God, (our church), but we also need to be determined to built up God’s kingdom. We do that by reaching out people and bringing souls to know the saving grace of Jesus.

  9. 2 Chronicles 2:6 But who is able to build him an house, seeing the heaven and heaven of heavens cannot contain him? who am I then, that I should build him an house, save only to burn sacrifice before him?

Solomon’s request to Hiram is accompanied by a witness as to the one true God. He will make the same point in his prayer of dedication at the time of the temple’s completion.
I Kings 8:27 But will God indeed dwell on the earth? behold the heaven and heaven of heavens cannot contain thee; how much less this house that I have builded?
God cannot be limited by space and is in fact beyond space. Space is the area where physical reality (matter) and being (energy) exist, and to that degree is limited.Where space ends, God still persists infinitely beyond all limits.

  10. “The temple I am going to build will be great, because our God is greater than all other gods.

Amen!!! Solomon was determined to build a house for the Lord. No matter what and he was going to build a great, big, and magnificent temple for the Lord because of how big our God is. This is why we should have big visions because we have a BIG GOD. Sometimes we drown ourselves in a half full cup if water of peoblems when all we have to do is lift up our head and have our eyes set on Him!!!!!

  11. It was David’s vision and dream to build a house for the Lord, but it was Solomon’s task to accomplish the dream/vision. He made a plan, he worked the plan and he found men willing to assist with his plan. He assembled a great team and each person had a specific job to do.

God has equipped each of us with what it takes to accomplish the Vision of the House – Impacting Lives To Change The World. Each ministry plays a vital role in that Vision and if we will all work the plan together, everyone giving what they can, we will see the Vision come to pass our the Region of Fort Worth Impacted to Change the World.

  12. Building in God’s Kingdom requires work. We have to be willing to work and sacrifice to see his Kingdom grow.

  13. GIVING GOD OUR BEST

Solomon understand, though the VISION was not his own, the opportunity to fulfill it was all his. Solomon took responsibility to ensure the GOD of Glory, our GOD JESUS was prepared for with not only the best resources, but also the best workmanship. Solomon was convinced and persuaded that only the best for GOD would do, he expected and inspected a spirit of excellence for the house of the LORD.

How can we possibly offer any less approach than that of Solomon, knowing what we know about JESUS love for us and being filled with the Holy Ghost the SPIRIT of GOD.

    MSG
5-6 “The house I am building has to be the best, for our God is the best, far better than competing gods. But who is capable of building such a structure? Why, the skies—the entire cosmos!—can’t begin to contain him. And me, who am I to think I can build a house adequate for God—burning incense to him is about all I’m good for! I need your help:

Solomon testified that the house he was privileged to build for GOD was to be the BEST for the BEST. Solomon asked for the help of others.

I am reminded of The POFW in this passage and I am convicted that possibly we haven’t given our BEST for the BEST. JESUS has been good to us, forgiven our sins, healed our sickness, strengthened our bodies, kept us by his grace. But, are we GIVING GOD OUR BEST?

I was given the report last night that almost 50% of the choir has already called in to miss practice. I drove home weeping at the lack of commitment I witnessed to one of the most powerful resources at The POFW. Our commitment to offer our BEST for the BEST GOD is what will attract the POWER and presence of GOD. I ask and encourage everyone to evaluate our commitment to the house of the LORD and sincerely answer if we are GIVING GOD OUR BEST. What could possibly have been happening last night that was more important to the choir than a practice that has been scheduled for several years in advance.

Possibly I am typing to the wind this morning, but I am convicted and convinced that if we fail to GIVE GOD OUR BEST then we possibly fail GOD. I encourage us all to clear our schedule for Kngdom purposes.

Matthew 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

  14. And Solomon determined to build an house for the name of the Lord, and an house for his kingdom.

Solomon “determined” within his mind to build the house of the Lord. He made up his mind and was sold out to the task of building for God. The mind is a powerful thing it determines defeat and victory. The mind is the product of a man’s heart. He assembled a team and in unity they got to work. They got to serving. They were in one place and in one accord. They built in peace. They didn’t have to build with a sword in one hand and a shovel in another. God said about the construction of the tower of Babel in Gen 11: 6 “If as one people speaking the same language they have begun to do this, then nothing they plan to do will be impossible for them.” If the people of God would have the same determination nothing can stop them.

  15. 6 But who is able to build him an house, seeing the heaven and heaven of heavens cannot contain him? who am I then, that I should build him an house, save only to burn sacrifice before him?

Solomon is the king. He is the most important man in all the surrounding country. However, his attitude does not reveal his authority. Who am I to build this house except to sacrifice and worship God. Today, we have people who are hung up on their title (preacher, leader, director) and think they have all the answers and are the go-to person. How much more would God bless POFW if we all had this attitude towards God; I am only here to worship the King.

  16. 12 And Hiram added: “Praise be to the LORD, the God of Israel, who made heaven and earth! He has given King David a wise son, endowed with intelligence and discernment, who will build a temple for the LORD and a palace for himself. NIV
God only wants our best. Like Pastor was preaching Wednesday night and the 1 thing that was said is ” Get over yourself”. It’s not about us its about the kingdom of God and what we can do to better the kingdom. It’s time that people get over themselves and quit thinking the world revolves around them and that they are holier than thou and start having the attitude of how can I be a servant to the kingdom of God today.

  17. -10 “The house I am building has to be the best, for our God is the best, far better than competing gods. But who is capable of building such a structure? Why, the skies—the entire cosmos!—can’t begin to contain him. And me, who am I to think I can build a house adequate for God—burning incense to him is about all I’m good for! I need your help: Send me a master artisan in gold, silver, bronze, iron, textiles of purple, crimson, and violet, and who knows the craft of engraving; he will supervise the trained craftsmen in Judah and Jerusalem that my father provided. Also send cedar, cypress, and algum logs from Lebanon; I know you have lumberjacks experienced in the Lebanon forests. I’ll send workers to join your crews to cut plenty of timber—I’m going to need a lot, for this house I’m building is going to be absolutely stunning—a showcase temple! I’ll provide all the food necessary for your crew of lumberjacks and loggers: 130,000 bushels of wheat, 120,000 gallons of wine, and 120,000 gallons of olive oil.” – 2 Chronicles 2:5-10 MSG

Solomon wanted to build a house of God for the lord. He wanted the very best materials, gold, silver, bronze, iron textiles absolutely beautiful! King Solomon knew that God deserves the very best of everything. King Solomon knew that he could never repay all what God has done for him but his sprit of humility in this passage of scriptures has truly convicted me. Too many times come to church like God owes us something but I owe God everything my time, my best praise, my life, my family. For God is the reason we move and live and have our being! I am forever grateful!

  18. Solomon did build temple alone neither did I give up but he continue to build the temple because it was so important. When god give us a job he wort leave us empty-hande but he was send help if needed so don’t give up god is right there give u a hand

  19. iLove to Grow in the Word
2 Chronicles 2:5-6 NLT “This must be a magnificent Temple because our God is greater than all other gods. (6) But who can really build Him a worthy home? Not even the highest heavens can contain Him! So who am I to consider building a Temple for Him, except as a place to burn sacrifices to Him?

Solomon was not politically correct when he declared the controversial statement of his time, “God is greater than all other gods.” Then Solomon explains that not only is God greater that a simple house, but he is greater than the heavens.

The real issue was not building God a house, but was to give Israel a place to sacrifice. Our bodies are the temple of the Holy Ghost…yep, that means our whole existence and purpose is to be a living sacrifice.

  20. 2 Chronicles 2:5-6
    5) And the house which I build is great: for great is our God above all gods.
    6) But who is able to build him an house, seeing the heaven and heaven of heavens cannot contain him? who am I then, that I should build him an house, save only to burn sacrifice before him?

Solomon knew that God is a Great God, and that no house he could build Him could ever contain Him (for the Most High dwelth not in temples made with hands). He knew that the house he built for God was only good enought to sacrifice burnt offerings (Praise & Worship) in.

This made me think of the song we sing…

Not just a temple our hands have made
We’re building you a house of Praise
Built for your Glory for Your Excellent Name
We’re building you a house of Praise
Come a dwell in this house of Praise

    We Praise You
Praise You in this sanctified building
    We Praise You
    Praise You in this house

  21. 13“I am sending you a master craftsman named Huram-abi, who is extremely talented.

To build the temple, only the best and most talented were needed. We should always strive to give our best and use our talents to build our ministry. The stronger the house, family, ministry is; the longer it will stand against the enemy.

  22. 5 “This must be a magnificent Temple because our God is greater than all other gods.” 6“But who can really build him a worthy home? Not even the highest heavens can contain him! So who am I to consider building a Temple for him, except as a place to burn sacrifices to him?” NLT
    ‭‭
    ‭‭

  23. 18 And he set threescore and ten thousand of them to be bearers of burdens, and fourscore thousand to be hewers in the mountain, and three thousand and six hundred overseers to set the people a work.

No one said building a house for the Lord was gonna be easy. It’s gonna take hard work, sacrifice, passion, commitment, and love for the things of God.

  24. This chapter shows how valuable “Vision to Misson” is.
Vision to mission – what’s your mission
    Plan
    Pray
Go back to plan- get details
Take the plan and pray again
    Now GO work the plan

Solomon had a great vision that was passed down from his father. Now we see him on a Mission and working the plan.

  25. “But who is able to build him an house, seeing the heaven and heaven of heavens cannot contain him? who am I then, that I should build him an house, save only to burn sacrifice before him?” The word of God (Jesus) records the purpose. The house of God (Creator) is where one (creation) gathers to worship God. Dear God, open our eyes and ears. God Bless America, Israel, Jerusalem, and you all in Jesus name, Amen!

  26. “Then Huram the king of Tyre answered in writing, which he sent to Solomon, Because the Lord hath loved his people, he hath made thee king over them.” Solomon cared for the people, which Huram was capable of seeing. Albeit if Solomon had not, then he would have prayed for something other than wisdom in leading them. God help us that we would also have like compassion for people, in Jesus name.

  27. 4 Behold, I build an house to the name of the Lord my God, to dedicate it to him, and to burn before him sweet incense, and for the continual shewbread, and for the burnt offerings morning and evening, on the sabbaths, and on the new moons, and on the solemn feasts of the Lord our God. This is an ordinance for ever to Israel.

Our lives should be a continual sweet smelling to God. Our words and actions should please Him and draw Him to us.

  28. 2 Chronicles 2:4 (NLT)
4 I am about to build a Temple to honor the name of the Lord my God. It will be a place set apart to burn fragrant incense before him, to display the special sacrificial bread, and to sacrifice burnt offerings each morning and evening, on the Sabbaths, at new moon celebrations, and at the other appointed festivals of the Lord our God. He has commanded Israel to do these things forever.

A temples of the holy ghost we have a responsibility to carry on the work of the temple spiritually. We are to burn incense, be given to prayer, and worship. We are to display the shew bread. We are to read the word and apply it to our lives. We are the testimony of the word of God doing what it says. We are to die to the flesh and live after the spirit daily.

  29. And the house which I build is great: for great is our God above all gods.(2 Chronicles 2:5 KJV)

Solomon builds up the house of the Lord to be great. He follows the vision and plans of his father David. When he is in alignment with God he is able to praise God for his magnificence even in the ability he has given to men in talent, ability and treasure to be used in ministry of building a place of worship to a worthy God. The one true living God.

  30. 7 Send me now therefore a man cunning to work in gold, and in silver, and in brass, and in iron, and in purple, and crimson, and blue, and that can skill to grave with the cunning men that are with me in Judah and in Jerusalem, whom David my father did provide.

Working together we can achive a lot more. One should not try and be a hero and do all the work in a perticular project. Know your giftings and seek help in areas you are not that strong at. God created us unique and gave us abilities. Together we are more

  31. 10 And, behold, I will give to thy servants, the hewers that cut timber, twenty thousand measures of beaten wheat, and twenty thousand measures of barley, and twenty thousand baths of wine, and twenty thousand baths of oil.

11 Then Huram the king of Tyre answered in writing, which he sent to Solomon, Because the Lord hath loved his people, he hath made thee king over them.

God chose Solomon to build his temple he made him wise and became the chosen King to honor his holy name.

  32. Project management.

Solomon gave the signal and the building begun. This was a big project that had to be managed to ensure it was done correctly. All big projects require oversight. Don’t let things go by without inspection. Don’t do things without plans. It will save time and money to plan accordingly.

  33. A mighty temple was built in honor of God. It should be our goal to build up a mighty temple (building & body) for our God. He has given us all the tools to do so, so what are we waiting for?

  34. 5 And the house which I build is great: for great is our God above all gods.
6 But who is able to build him an house, seeing the heaven and heaven of heavens cannot contain him? who am I then, that I should build him an house, save only to burn sacrifice before him?

POFW built a house for God the best we could build because he is THE great God. He is our breath and life and deserves our best.

  35. 5 And the house which I build is great: for great is our God above all gods.
6 But who is able to build him an house, seeing the heaven and heaven of heavens cannot contain him? who am I then, that I should build him an house, save only to burn sacrifice before him?
Nothing we do is good enough for God, but His grace more than makes up for the difference of our shortcomings.

  36. “And Solomon determined to build an house for the name of the Lord, and an house for his kingdom.”
    ‭‭2 Chronicles‬ ‭2:1‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Solomon was multitasking. He asworkjng on his ow. House as well as the house of God. Sometimes we just need focus to do just one thing at a time.
