2 Chronicles 14

1 So Abijah slept with his fathers, and they buried him in the city of David: and Asa his son reigned in his stead. In his days the land was quiet ten years.

2 And Asa did that which was good and right in the eyes of the Lord his God:

3 For he took away the altars of the strange gods, and the high places, and brake down the images, and cut down the groves:

4 And commanded Judah to seek the Lord God of their fathers, and to do the law and the commandment.

5 Also he took away out of all the cities of Judah the high places and the images: and the kingdom was quiet before him.

6 And he built fenced cities in Judah: for the land had rest, and he had no war in those years; because the Lord had given him rest.

7 Therefore he said unto Judah, Let us build these cities, and make about them walls, and towers, gates, and bars, while the land is yet before us; because we have sought the Lord our God, we have sought him, and he hath given us rest on every side. So they built and prospered.

8 And Asa had an army of men that bare targets and spears, out of Judah three hundred thousand; and out of Benjamin, that bare shields and drew bows, two hundred and fourscore thousand: all these were mighty men of valour.

9 And there came out against them Zerah the Ethiopian with an host of a thousand thousand, and three hundred chariots; and came unto Mareshah.

10 Then Asa went out against him, and they set the battle in array in the valley of Zephathah at Mareshah.

11 And Asa cried unto the Lord his God, and said, Lord, it is nothing with thee to help, whether with many, or with them that have no power: help us, O Lord our God; for we rest on thee, and in thy name we go against this multitude. O Lord, thou art our God; let no man prevail against thee.

12 So the Lord smote the Ethiopians before Asa, and before Judah; and the Ethiopians fled.

13 And Asa and the people that were with him pursued them unto Gerar: and the Ethiopians were overthrown, that they could not recover themselves; for they were destroyed before the Lord, and before his host; and they carried away very much spoil.

14 And they smote all the cities round about Gerar; for the fear of the Lord came upon them: and they spoiled all the cities; for there was exceeding much spoil in them.

15 They smote also the tents of cattle, and carried away sheep and camels in abundance, and returned to Jerusalem.

  1. Sometimes you have to go back w what you know.

I understood this passage it seemed to me that they served the Lord at one time and they arent as strong as they used to be. But in the end they fear the Lord and went out serving Him after all. This sometimes tells a story of some people. We were strong in the Lord and left a little and now they are trying to find thiernway back.

God is good. He will never leave you nor forsake you.

When you think you’ve fallen you have God’s hand lifting you up. You don’t lose your gifts and talents I just have to use them in the way the Lord desires me to do so.
Thankyou Lord I love you Jesus and I surrender to you daily.

  2. 7. Because we have followed the Eternal One, our True God, He has allowed us to keep our land and has given our nation a time of peace. Let’s use this time to strengthen what He has so graciously given us. Let’s build strong cities, defend them with walls, guard them with towers, secure them with gates, and lock them with cross-bars. The Judahites agreed, so they built the cities and prospered. The Voice

A time of rest and peace does not mean a time of idleness. When we use our time wisely and do what we can, God will intervene and do what we can’t.

  3. Verses 11-12 AMP “Asa called out to the Lord his God, saying, “O Lord, there is no one besides You to help in the battle between the powerful and the weak; so help us, O Lord our God, for we trust in and rely on You, and in Your name we have come against this multitude. O Lord, You are our God; let not man prevail against You.” So the Lord struck the Ethiopians [with defeat] before Asa and Judah, and the Ethiopians fled.” Exodus 14:14 AMP says “The Lord will fight for you while you [only need to] keep silent and remain calm.”

  4. 11 And Asa cried unto the Lord his God, and said, Lord, it is nothing with thee to help, whether with many, or with them that have no power: help us, O Lord our God; for we rest on thee, and in thy name we go against this multitude. O Lord, thou art our God; let no man prevail against thee.

No matter how big the odds, with God all things are possible.

  5. 2 Chronicles 14:2-6 (NLT)
    2) Asa did what was pleasing and good in the sight of the LORD his God.
    3) He removed the foreign altars and the pagan shrines. He smashed the sacred pillars and cut down the Asherah poles.
    4) He commanded the people of Judah to seek the LORD, the God of their ancestors, and to obey his law and his commands.
    5) Asa also removd the pagan shrines, as well as the incense altars from every one of Judah’s towns. So Asa’s kingdom enjoyed a period of peace.
    6) During those peaceful years, he was able to build up the fortified towns throughout Judah. No one tried to make war against him at this time, for the LORD was giving him rest from his enemies.

Vs. 2) Asa did what was pleasing and good in the sight of the LORD his God.
Vs. 5) Asa’s kingdom enjoyed a period of peace.
Vs. 6) No one tried to make war against him at this time, for the LORD was giving him rest from his enemies.

Proverbs 16:7 says, “When a man’s ways please the LORD, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him.”

  6. God defeated the Ethiopians before Asa and Judah; the Ethiopians ran for their lives. Asa and his men chased them as far as Gerar; so many of the Ethiopians were killed that there was no fight left in them—a massacre before God and his troops; Judah carted off loads of plunder. They devastated all the towns around Gerar whose people were helpless, paralyzed by the fear of God , and looted the country. They also attacked herdsmen and brought back a lot of sheep and camels to Jerusalem.

PARALYZED BY THE FEAR OF GOD!!! HALELUJAH!!! HALELUJAH!!! GOD IS FAITHFUL!!! NO ONE LIKE YOU JESUS!!!

  7. “He removed the high places and incense altars from every town in Judah. The kingdom had peace and rest under him. He built up the cities of Judah that had high walls around them. The land was at peace. No one was at war with Asa during those years. That’s because the Lord gave him peace and rest.”
    ‭‭2 Chronicles‬ ‭14:5-6‬ ‭NIRV‬‬

Thankful for leadership that isn’t afraid to go to the high places and tear false worship down. And to build protection and standards. When leaders encourage people to line up their lives according to the Bible we will have peace and we will have rest. The Lord will be with us and fight her battles. Victory!

  8. 10 Then Asa went out against him, and they set the battle in array in the valley of Zephathah at Mareshah.

Asa had a understanding about God. He knew that God liked the underdog and that He would fight for His people and defend them. We must never forget in our own lives that God is fighting for us and that there are more for us than against us.

  9. 7 Therefore he said unto Judah, Let us build these cities, and make about them walls, and towers, gates, and bars, while the land is yet before us; because we have sought the Lord our God, we have sought him, and he hath given us rest on every side. So they built and prospered.

I have always been amazed at the power of God! The rest that He gives in the midst of working for Him. Even in the heat of the battle after I have sought Him , in the midst of a fast, in the midst of giving physically and giving of time…..God always gives a rest that humanity cannot understand.
The word says here We have sought Him and he hath given us rest on every side. Emotional, physical, mental finacial, and most of all spiritual.
When we seek God theie is a rest that can be found. This does not mean we stop what we are doing that we sit back and do not continue in the war but we find a rest in the midst of seeking God.
We continue to build up the kingdom and we will prosper.
Relax in God for the battle is not ours we are just the instruments God uses!

  10. 5 Also he took away out of all the cities of Judah the high places and the images: and the kingdom was quiet before him.

Before we can ever truly rest, we must tear down al the idols in our lives, and repent. This will position us too however, so that when the enemy does attack, we have the Lord on our side…

  11. iLove to Grow in the Word
2 Chronicles 14:11 NLT Then Asa cried out to the LORD his God, “O LORD, no one but You can help the powerless against the mighty! Help us, O LORD our God, for we trust in You alone. It is in Your name that we have come against this vast horde. O LORD, You are our God; do not let mere men prevail against You!”

Wow, this king put his trust in the Lord and God delivered him. The NLT bible tells us that there was 1 million Ethiopians that came against Judah. Boom, numbers are not intimidating to God. There are 2 righteous angels to every fallen one. God’s Kingdom has always outnumbered the enemies anyway. There are more for us than against us. We just have to open our mouths and pray.

  12. NEVER UNDERESTIMATE THE UNDERDOG

In the deceitful times we live in, it appears the church, the righteous people of the earth are the underdogs. it seems at times that society and occasionally even other believers are against us. However, revelation of the GOD of Glory JESUS that is for us will prepare us for any and every battle.

Asa was the underdog in the with Ethiopia.

    MSG
8 Asa had an army of 300,000 Judeans, equipped with shields and spears, and another 280,000 Benjaminites who were shield bearers and archers. They were all courageous warriors.
9-11 Zerah the Ethiopian went to war against Asa with an army of a million plus three hundred chariots and got as far as Mareshah. Asa met him there and prepared to fight from the Valley of Zephathah near Mareshah. Then Asa prayed to God, “O God, you aren’t impressed by numbers or intimidated by a show of force once you decide to help: Help us, O God; we have come out to meet this huge army because we trust in you and who you are. Don’t let mere mortals stand against you!”

580,000 verses 1,000,000 close to the same disadvantage of Abijah in chapter 13
    MSG
2-3 War broke out between Abijah and Jeroboam. Abijah started out with 400,000 of his best soldiers; Jeroboam countered with 800,000 of his best.

Both Asa and Abijah stopped to Pray and look what happened. GOD gave the VICTORY. The very same GOD (JESUS) is alive and well. He is postured and ready to avenge us our adversaries. Regardless of the size of the opposition, we must Pray and seek the face of the LORD.

    iRepent
    iPraise
    iPray
    iWork
    iGive
    iReap

  13. 2 Chronicles 14:4-6 (NLT)
4 He commanded the people of Judah to seek the Lord, the God of their ancestors, and to obey his law and his commands. 5 Asa also removed the pagan shrines, as well as the incense altars from every one of Judah’s towns. So Asa’s kingdom enjoyed a period of peace. 6 During those peaceful years, he was able to build up the fortified towns throughout Judah. No one tried to make war against him at this time, for the Lord was giving him rest from his enemies.

When we clean house and remove the idols, when we ensure godly influence throughout the whole of our lives, when we seek the Lord, obey his laws, and his commands we fortify and strengthen our praise.

Our praise stills the avenger and gives us rest from our enemies. Our holiness and obedience to God causes rest from the adversary eventually.

Don’t give up the fight. There is a rest day coming.

  14. Command their Praise

4 And commanded Judah to seek the Lord God of their fathers, and to do the law and the commandment.

Many of us know of at least one person that should be worshiping beside us when we gather together in the house of the Lord. Yet, their hearts are far from God. It is time to allow a spirit of intercession to arise within us and command the spirits that have silenced their praise or turned their praise to other gods to free them to seek the Lord. We must not stop their but let us also pray and command them to do the law and the commandments.

This is such a powerful scripture to use during our time of Warfare prayer. I can see it know- the captive of this region will be freed to seek the Lord God and to do the law and commandments in His Word.

    Keep Warring Until He Comes!

  15. 6 During those peaceful years, he was able to build up the fortified towns throughout Judah. No one tried to make war against him at this time, for the Lord was giving him rest from his enemies.

  16. 3 For he took away the altars of the strange gods, and the high places, and brake down the images, and cut down the groves:
4 And commanded Judah to seek the Lord God of their fathers, and to do the law and the commandment.

    Make your alter to God.

  17. Reading this chapter reminded my of my favorite verse: “The Lord shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.” (Exodus 14:14) When we seek God first, when we seek to please Him first, He will always be there to fight with us and for us.

  18. 2 Chronicles 14:8 Asa had an army of three hundred thousand men from Judah equipped with large shields and with spears and two hundred and eighty thounsand from Benjamin armed with small shells and with bows. All these were the brave fighting men. Zerah the Cuhite marched out against them an army of thousands upon thousands and 300 hundred chariots and came as far as Mareshah. Asa when out to meet him and they took up battle positions in the Valley of Zephathah near Mareshah. Then Asa called to the Lord his God and said Lord there is no one like you to help the powerless against the mighty. Help us Lord Our God for we rely on you and in your name we have come against this vast army. Lord you are our God do not let mere mortals Prevail against you. The Lord struck down the Cushites before Asia and Judah. The Cushites fled and Asa and his army pursued them as far as Grear. Such a great number of Cushites fell that they could not recover theywere crushed before the Lord and his forces. The men of Judah carried off a large amount of plunder. They destroyed all the villages around Gerar for the terror of the Lord had fallen on them. They looted all these villages since there was much plunder there. They also attacked the camp of the herders and carried all off droves of sheep and goats and camels. Then they return to Jerusalem.

  19. 10 Then Asa went out against him, and they set the battle in array in the valley of Zephathah at Mareshah.

Again they cried up to God. They identified His Greatness, where their help comes From, and God shows up Big and Mighty as always!!! What a Mighty God we serve!!!

  20. “For he took away the altars of the strange gods, and the high places, and brake down the images, and cut down the groves: And commanded Judah to seek the Lord God of their fathers, and to do the law and the commandment.”
    ‭‭2 Chronicles‬ ‭14:3-4‬ ‭KJV‬‬
Sometimes we just got to clean house and get back to our roots.

  21. 11 And Asa cried unto the Lord his God, and said, Lord, it is nothing with thee to help, whether with many, or with them that have no power: help us, O Lord our God; for we rest on thee, and in thy name we go against this multitude. O Lord, thou art our God; let no man prevail against thee.

12 So the Lord smote the Ethiopians before Asa, and before Judah; and the Ethiopians fled.

The Lord is our very present help in time of need and trouble. He will answer when we call. Asa sought God for help to win the battle against his enemy. The Lord gave him that victory.

The Lord is the same yesterday today and forever. He is here to help us, we just need to seek Him. Too many times we do things our way and then when we get in a mess we cry out to the Lord to get us out. We need to seek Him first before we ever get in the mess.

  22. 2 And Asa did that which was good and right in the eyes of the Lord his God:

3 For he took away the altars of the strange gods, and the high places, and brake down the images, and cut down the groves:

4 And commanded Judah to seek the Lord God of their fathers, and to do the law and the commandment.

We can attend every single church service and do every good deed possible but if we do not remove the things in our life that are displeasing God we will still be left in turmoil. We should continually ask God to help us remove every sin and every temptation of sin that comes our way!

  23. 11 And Asa cried unto the Lord his God, and said, Lord, it is nothing with thee to help, whether with many, or with them that have no power: help us, O Lord our God; for we rest on thee, and in thy name we go against this multitude. O Lord, thou art our God; let no man prevail against thee.

Asa was not afraid of the size of the army for he knew where he had put his trust in the Lord God of the angel armies. His faith was big because his walk with God backed him up. He did that which was right in the eyes of the Lord and gave him confidence that God will answer when he calls. You want God to answer in time of trouble? Build uo your relationship and walk with God that you may he trusting and confident that God will answer every time you call.

  24. 2 And Asa did that which was good and right in the eyes of the Lord his God:

Asa encouraged people to follow the lord

God has favor over asa because he did right he kept him from his enemies and Destroy his enemies

  25. 5 Also he took away out of all the cities of Judah the high places and the images: and the kingdom was quiet before him.

In order to really get ahold of God and make sure our relationship is right with God we must put away those idols in today’s world’s that may hinder us from truly accomplishing the work of God. They have build fences and towers to protect the land, spritual we need to build walls and fences by warring against the hand of the enemy and pray that God raises up the standard over our hearts and lives and families so we can never turn away from him!

  26. 6 And he built fenced cities in Judah: for the land had rest, and he had no war in those years; because the Lord had given him rest.

God gave king Solomon and the people of the land rest during his reign. His father David was a man of war and not chosen of God to build the temple. When a people have a time of war and turn away from him their is chaos in the spiritual. Whenever Asa turned things around with destroying places of pagan worship it changed the worship of the land back to God. When we repent like he did their will be peace within our hearts and around us. God promised it in 2 Chronicles 7:14 ” if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”

  27. 7 Therefore he said unto Judah, Let us build these cities, and make about them walls, and towers, gates, and bars, while the land is yet before us; because we have sought the Lord our God, we have sought him, and he hath given us rest on every side. So they built and prospered.
Seek the Lord and you will find rest in Him.

  28. 6 And he built fenced cities in Judah: for the land had rest, and he had no war in those years; because the Lord had given him rest.

7 Therefore he said unto Judah, Let us build these cities, and make about them walls, and towers, gates, and bars, while the land is yet before us; because we have sought the Lord our God, we have sought him, and he hath given us rest on every side. So they built and prospered.

  29. 2 And Asa did that which was good and right in the eyes of the Lord his God:

  30. v2 Asa did what was good and right in the eyes of the LORD his God,

One of the fruits of the SPIRIT is peace.
So the land where Asa reigned was quiet for ten years. For he did right and good in the eyes of the LORD.
When one continually desires to follow the leading of the Spirit of GOD ,his life will produce spiritual fruit.

  31. In this scripture, you can see the benefits of having a righteous leader and doing what is right before God. In doing this ensures peace on all sides for ten years. King Asa eliminated all false Idols or alters and sort of speak cleaned the land. Well pleasing in the eyes of the Lord.

    “Be the Example”………………..

  32. Then Asa cried out to the Lord his God, “O  Lord , no one but you can help the powerless against the mighty! Help us, O  Lord our God, for we trust in you alone. It is in your name that we have come against this vast horde. O  Lord , you are our God; do not let mere men prevail against you!”
    2 Chronicles 14:11 NLT
    http://bible.com/116/2ch.14.11.NLT

When we feel alone and situations are impossible and society says that you have to handle it yourself, TRUST no one. There is still a God and a name that is powerful and that can overcome anything and defy all odds and His name is JESUS! We just got to learn to give up the control and trust Him.

  33. 2 Asa did what was pleasing and good in the sight of the LORD his God.

Let us always do what is right before the Lord. We all know, right from wrong. Let us not be easily influenced by others, to do what is wrong.

  34. 2 Asa did what was pleasing and good in the sight of the LORD his God.

7 Therefore he said unto Judah, Let us build these cities, and make about them walls, and towers, gates, and bars, while the land is yet before us; because we have sought the Lord our God, we have sought him, and he hath given us rest on every side. So they built and prospered.

Asa’s success started with pleasing God and resulted in 10 years of peace. He used those years to fortify his cities and towns & developed his army-he worked and wasn’t idle. However, when war came, he didn’t trust in the arm of the flesh, he depended on his God. God has our back when we please him.

  35. 10 Then Asa went out against him, and they set the battle in array in the valley of Zephathah at Mareshah.

  36. 11 And Asa cried unto the Lord his God, and said, Lord, it is nothing with thee to help, whether with many, or with them that have no power: help us, O Lord our God; for we rest on thee, and in thy name we go against this multitude. O Lord, thou art our God; let no man prevail against thee.

    Psalm 33:20 ESV
Our soul waits for the Lord; he is our help and our shield.

Blessed are those that do not trust in there own strength. Asa had prepared himself for any foe, anyone that dared to come against him. It was because of his preparation that God sought to bring and adversary against him.

He knew that in his heart it didn’t matter how many mighty men of valor he had, of chariots and archers he had, he knew it would only be thru the mighty hand of God that he would prevail.

Lesson: It doesn’t matter how strong you might feel, or how read up to feel, or prayed thru you feel, if you go without Gods blessing, we are setting ourselves up for failure.

    Hebrews 11:6 (NIV)
6 And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.

  37. Asa made up within his mind that he wasn’t going to worship the pagan gods of this world. He knew he had to start from a new foundation and doing so was going to require work. He had to tear down the places of pagan worship. To redirect the people he had to start from scratch to redirect the people to repentance. His determination would bring peace and victory from the hands of God.

  38. 7 Therefore he said unto Judah, Let us build these cities, and make about them walls, and towers, gates, and bars, while the land is yet before us; because we have sought the Lord our God, we have sought him, and he hath given us rest on every side. So they built and prospered.

8 And Asa had an army of men that bare targets and spears, out of Judah three hundred thousand; and out of Benjamin, that bare shields and drew bows, two hundred and fourscore thousand: all these were mighty men of valour.

Your praise to God leads you to victory during your battles.
But also praise God when all is good.

  39. 4 And commanded Judah to seek the Lord God of their fathers, and to do the law and the commandment.

This is where having a devoted and submitted man of God in your life really shows out. Not only did As a command his people, but he was the example of how to seek the LORD. And the LORD answered mightily. If my people, which are called by MY NAME Will humble themselves and pray…..Not only can healing take place. There’s no telling what all God’s gonna do.

  40. “Therefore he said unto Judah, Let us build these cities, and make about them walls, and towers, gates, and bars, while the land is yet before us; because we have sought the Lord our God, we have sought him, and he hath given us rest on every side. So they built and prospered.” The word of God (Jesus) records wisdom. There have been many battles throughout history, which one can be in denial just as one can be unwise. Dear God, awaken us to the deception before it is too late. God Bless America, Israel, Jerusalem, and you all in Jesus name, Amen!

  41. “And Asa did that which was good and right in the eyes of the Lord his God”. Asa obeyed the Lord and removed all the false gods and idols, which only snares people in sin. We can be like Asa and prosper or we can be disobedient and without peace. God help us to see and choose you, in Jesus name.

  42. “For he took away the altars of the strange gods, and the high places, and brake down the images, and cut down the groves:”
    ‭‭2 Chronicles‬ ‭14:3‬ ‭KJV‬‬

This is what the Call of War seminar is doing with us today we are using this time to cut down all the altars and high places that have been estabished in and around us.

  43. To do what is right in the sight of the Lord you have to do something. Every King that was called good the Bible says that they went in and took down the idols and garden groves…. God smiles on hard workS He expects us to do our part then he does his.

  44. 2 And Asa did that which was good and right in the eyes of the Lord his God:

3 For he took away the altars of the strange gods, and the high places, and brake down the images, and cut down the groves:
