2 Chronicles 15

1 And the Spirit of God came upon Azariah the son of Oded:

2 And he went out to meet Asa, and said unto him, Hear ye me, Asa, and all Judah and Benjamin; The Lord is with you, while ye be with him; and if ye seek him, he will be found of you; but if ye forsake him, he will forsake you.

3 Now for a long season Israel hath been without the true God, and without a teaching priest, and without law.

4 But when they in their trouble did turn unto the Lord God of Israel, and sought him, he was found of them.

5 And in those times there was no peace to him that went out, nor to him that came in, but great vexations were upon all the inhabitants of the countries.

6 And nation was destroyed of nation, and city of city: for God did vex them with all adversity.

7 Be ye strong therefore, and let not your hands be weak: for your work shall be rewarded.

8 And when Asa heard these words, and the prophecy of Oded the prophet, he took courage, and put away the abominable idols out of all the land of Judah and Benjamin, and out of the cities which he had taken from mount Ephraim, and renewed the altar of the Lord, that was before the porch of the Lord.

9 And he gathered all Judah and Benjamin, and the strangers with them out of Ephraim and Manasseh, and out of Simeon: for they fell to him out of Israel in abundance, when they saw that the Lord his God was with him.

10 So they gathered themselves together at Jerusalem in the third month, in the fifteenth year of the reign of Asa.

11 And they offered unto the Lord the same time, of the spoil which they had brought, seven hundred oxen and seven thousand sheep.

12 And they entered into a covenant to seek the Lord God of their fathers with all their heart and with all their soul;

13 That whosoever would not seek the Lord God of Israel should be put to death, whether small or great, whether man or woman.

14 And they sware unto the Lord with a loud voice, and with shouting, and with trumpets, and with cornets.

15 And all Judah rejoiced at the oath: for they had sworn with all their heart, and sought him with their whole desire; and he was found of them: and the Lord gave them rest round about.

16 And also concerning Maachah the mother of Asa the king, he removed her from being queen, because she had made an idol in a grove: and Asa cut down her idol, and stamped it, and burnt it at the brook Kidron.

17 But the high places were not taken away out of Israel: nevertheless the heart of Asa was perfect all his days.

18 And he brought into the house of God the things that his father had dedicated, and that he himself had dedicated, silver, and gold, and vessels.

19 And there was no more war unto the five and thirtieth year of the reign of Asa.

  1. And he went out to meet Asa, and said unto him, Hear ye me, Asa, and all Judah and Benjamin; The Lord is with you, while ye be with him; and if ye seek him, he will be found of you; but if ye forsake him, he will forsake you.

GOD IS FAITHFUL AND SOOOOO MERCIFUL!!!
Once you KNOW GOD you can’t live without acknowledging HIM, praising HIM and glorifying HIM (it would be a life without life)

  2. Verses 1-2 AMP says “Now the Spirit of God came on Azariah the son of Oded, and he went out to meet Asa and said to him, “Hear me, Asa, and all Judah and Benjamin: the Lord is with you while you are with Him. If you seek Him [inquiring for and of Him, as your soul’s first necessity], He will let you find Him; but if you abandon (turn away from) Him, He will abandon (turn away from) you.” We must return to our first love…..Jesus. As Pastor spoke of last night, we shouldn’t do anything without asking the Lord first.

  3. 7. Be ye strong therefore, and let not your hands be weak: for your work shall be rewarded.

We serve a strong God who gives us strength to do His work. Let us not do it weakly, for the spirits of this world are not working against us weakly, but with all their might, for they know their time is short.

  4. 7 Be ye strong therefore, and let not your hands be weak: for your work shall be rewarded.

God has given the POFW favor. Favor usually means there is a lot of work involved. Just ask Noah. He found favor with God and worked on the same project for 100 years. We are constantly working to advance the Kingdomw God. Never once did the LORD say our work would be in vain. His burden is light and for that I’m thankful. When the cares and troubles of this world weigh on us we just cast our cares upon Him.
And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. Galatians 6:9
This is why daily communion is so important. God refreshes our souls. He knows exactly what we need. Thank you, Jesus. I Love you. I’m nothing without you, LORD.

  5. 2 Chronicles 15:2, “And he went out to meet Asa, and said unto him, Hear ye me, Asa, and all Judah and Benjamin; The LORD is with you, while ye be with him; and if ye seek him, he will be found of you; but if ye forsake him, he will forsake you.”

This scripture seems simple enought to understand. If we seek (attempt to find, attempt or desire to obtain, ask for) him, we will find him, but if we forsake (abandon, desert, leave, turn our back on, renounce, give up on, disown) him, he will forsake us.

Isaiah 55:6, “Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near.”
Acts 17:27, “That they should seek the LORD, if haply they might feel after him, and find him, though he be not far from every one of us.
Jeremiah 29:13-14a, “And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart. And I will be found of you, saith the LORD…”

God is not far from any of us. If we will Call Upon Him, Feel After Him, and Search For Him, we will Find Him.

SEEK YE FIRST THE KINGDOM OF GOD!!

  6. 7 “But it’s different with you: Be strong. Take heart. Payday is coming!” MSG

And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. KJV Galatians 6:9
We as humans sometimes wonder how come I still pray for so and so they are not coming they are not changing, well as long as I have breath in my body I will continue to pray for my backslidden daughter cause I’m the link between me and her God and we as a whole are the link between the lost souls and God and if we don’t reach them then who will?
People are crying out just wanting us to talk to them, we just have to have a sensitive ear to be willing to listen to God’s voice.

  7. 2 And he went out to meet Asa, and said unto him, Hear ye me, Asa, and all Judah and Benjamin; The Lord is with you, while ye be with him; and if ye seek him, he will be found of you; but if ye forsake him, he will forsake you.

When we seek him, we will find him, but we must be willing to seek him with all our heart.

  8. Verses 11-15 are about the people being ecstatic when they entered into a covenant with the Lord. Sad to say but I don’t think many today are as excited and joyful about being in covenant with the Lord. The mentality today has become, “well my religion doesn’t allow me to do this and that but I can do this.” It’s a real shame because we should be like the people of this chapter who cheerfully shouted their covenant with God and were excited at the opportunity to serve Him with their whole hearts. They had passion; what many of us would call “a new believers” passion, but who are we to think we’ve become all that? That we are now exempt cause we’ve done our time. NO, the people of these verses are a wonderful example of how we should still be passionate about serving the Lord. This song came to mind and I pray it for us all, “Awaken my heart, awaken my soul, awaken Your power and take control. Awaken the passion to live for you Lord. Awaken me.”

  9. iLove to Grow in the Word
2 Chronicles 15:8 NLT When Asa heard this message from Azariah the prophet, he took courage and removed all the detestable idols from the land of Judah and Benjamin and in the towns he had captured in the hill country of Ephraim. And he repaired the altar of the LORD, which stood in front of the entry room of the LORD’s Temple.

Wow, when the man of God spoke the king listened. The Word of God brought strength and courage. The Word of God caused the altar to be rebuilt. The spoken Word of God lead to unity as well. 2 Chronicles 15:9 NLT Then Asa called together all the people of Judah and Benjamin, along with the people of Ephraim, Manasseh, and Simeon who had settled among them. For many from Israel had moved to Judah during Asa’s reign when they saw that the LORD his God was with him.

The Word is powerful when listened to and can turn a whole nation from wickedness to righteousness through the obedience of its leaders.

  10. 2 Chronicles 15:3 For a long time Israel was without the true God without a priest to teach and without the law. But in their distress they turn to the Lord the God of Israel and sought him and he was found by them. In those days it was not safe to travel about for all the inhabitants of the lands were in great turmoil. One nation was being crushed by another and one city to another because God was troubling them with every kind of distress. But as for you be strong and do not give up for your work will be rewarded. When Asa heard these words and the prophecy of Azariah son of Oded the prophet he took courage. He removed the detestable Idols from the whole land of Judah and Benjamin and from the town he had been captured in the hills of Ephraim. He repaired the altar of the Lord that was in front of the partico of the Lord’s Temple. Then he assembled all Judah and Benjamin and the people from Ephraim Manasseh and Simeon who had settled among them for large numbers have come over to him from Israel when they saw that the Lord his God was with him.

  11. 7 Be ye strong therefore, and let not your hands be weak: for your work shall be rewarded.

We cannot allow ourselves to become weak. Even if there are times you feel the rewards is so far away. How much more to continue working . Take courage and be weed at the alter. Do not be defeated for there is a reward like no other reward. Stay close to the alter don’t worry about what anyone thinks for if you do then it is about you, but go to the alter privately publically with only the thought this is about You God, nothing else none else but You. Seek Him no matter what your peers, or family are doing put away anything that will distract you from what God is calling you to. There is a reward!

  12. 12 And they entered into a covenant to seek the Lord God of their fathers with all their heart and with all their soul;

13 That whosoever would not seek the Lord God of Israel should be put to death, whether small or great, whether man or woman.

14 And they sware unto the Lord with a loud voice, and with shouting, and with trumpets, and with cornets.

We need to either be all in or all out when it comes to following Jesus. The bible talks how God does not like lukewarm Christians, people that only follow after God with part of their heart. But in this verse and many others, the bible talks about again and again how we need to follow after God with ALL our heart. So don’t let your passion for God dwindle, let faith and passion rise up in you and seek after God with all your heart. Your efforts will be rewarded.

  13. 12 And they entered into a covenant to seek the Lord God of their fathers with all their heart and with all their soul;

13 That whosoever would not seek the Lord God of Israel should be put to death, whether small or great, whether man or woman.

  14. 2 He went out to meet Asa and said to him, “Listen to me, Asa and all Judah and Benjamin. The Lord is with you when you are with him. If you seek him, he will be found by you, but if you forsake him, he will forsake you.

Saddens me when people forsake God, knowing doctrine and coming to church. However, I’ve realized that when you don’t have a relationship with Him you can easily put Him in 2nd or last place. Hurts me to see people not want God so much because I know that they can’t do it on their own without the devil devouring them. Yet we can’t force anyone for worship, love, or much less live for God. Don’t forsake Him because he will forsake you that means that your not being covered by Him. He’s the only one that truly protects us, cover us, love us, guide us, structure us like no else can. Don’t let go of the all powerful, mighty KING!!!!

  15. 8 And when Asa heard these words, and the prophecy of Oded the prophet, he took courage, and put away the abominable idols out of all the land of Judah and Benjamin, and out of the cities which he had taken from mount Ephraim, and renewed the altar of the Lord, that was before the porch of the Lord.

    12 And they entered into a covenant to seek the Lord God of their fathers with all their heart and with all their soul;

13 That whosoever would not seek the Lord God of Israel should be put to death, whether small or great, whether man or woman.

This is what we need a leader that will have the courage to stand and change things! To bring God, sacrifice, and prayer back to this Nation. What better example can God give us but a prophet that had no fear to stand and tell the king and ruler what needs to be done to bring the Nation back to the strong nation of God!

  16. 2 Chronicles 15:4 But when they in their trouble did turn unto the Lord God of Israel, and sought him, he was found of them.

Deut.4:29 But if from thence thou shalt seek the Lord thy God, thou shalt find him, if thou seek him with all thy heart and with all thy soul.

God will hear if our Nation repents

v.7 Be ye strong therefore, and let not your hands be weak: for your work shall be rewarded.

  17. 4 But when they in their trouble did turn unto the Lord God of Israel, and sought him, he was found of them.

Sometimes we got our eyes of of God and become so unfocused that He has to send us through some trials and get us to the point where we have no option but to turn back to Him!!

  18. 3 Now for a long season Israel hath been without the true God, and without a teaching priest, and without law.

4 But when they in their trouble did turn unto the Lord God of Israel, and sought him, he was found of them.
Isreal had allowed themselves to go for a extended period of time without God, but isn’t amazing to see that God was just waiting for them to seek Him and he was not far from them. No matter how far we go God is with us if we will just follow him.

  19. 9 And he gathered all Judah and Benjamin, and the strangers with them out of Ephraim and Manasseh, and out of Simeon: for they fell to him out of Israel in abundance, when they saw that the Lord his God was with him.

This verse caught my eye as I read. We know the kingdom was divided and that Israel had not being living for God like Judah had. But when the people from that kingdom saw God was with Asa, a great number came. People around us are searching for something that is real. They come to our church and may not understand biblical salvation or our worship…but because God is with us, they feel his presence and they receive a touch from him whether it is the Holy Ghost or confirmation that he is real, does miracles and can be found. We must be real on Western Day with many guest watching us-we must usher in God’s presence with our praise and let them experience his presence. God will draw them to him if we become instruments in his hands.

  20. Then the Spirit of God came upon Azariah son of Oded, and he went out to meet King Asa as he was returning from the battle. “Listen to me, Asa!” he shouted. “Listen, all you people of Judah and Benjamin! The Lord will stay with you as long as you stay with him! Whenever you seek him, you will find him. But if you abandon him, he will abandon you.

Matthew 7:7 ask and it shall be given
    Seek and ye shall find.

  21. THE LEADERS TOUGHEST DECISION

15 And all Judah rejoiced at the oath: for they had sworn with all their heart, and sought him with their whole desire; and he was found of them: and the Lord gave them rest round about.
16 And also concerning Maachah the mother of Asa the king, he removed her from being queen, because she had made an idol in a grove: and Asa cut down her idol, and stamped it, and burnt it at the brook Kieron.

While the words of the prophet were fresh, Judah responded. They committed themselves through praise and unity to seek the LORD with all their heart. However, apparently Maachah the mother of Asa, thought she would be exempt from the commitment to the LORD and continued in a position of Leadership while worshipping at the altar of idolatry.

Asa the King was faced with a very tough decision. No doubt that in his flesh, he would have preferred to leave her alone. However, the influence of his mother was natural and would be very challenging in the future.

Asa did what he could, revoked her of the authority of being queen and demolished her idols. These actions were for the good of the Kingdom.

Leaders must be willing to make changes in Leadership, regardless of family connection, relationship experience or tenure of service when:

    1. Leaders who refuse to commit to the oath of the people to seek the LORD with our whole heart.
    2. Leaders who build and worship idols in their lives.

    MSG
15 They shouted out their promise to God, a joyful sound accompanied with blasts from trumpets and rams’ horns. The whole country felt good about the covenant promise—they had given their promise joyfully from the heart. Anticipating the best, they had sought God—and he showed up, ready to be found. God gave them peace within and without—a most peaceable kingdom!

16 In his cleanup of the country, Asa went so far as to remove his mother, Queen Maacah, from her throne because she had built a shockingly obscene image of the sex goddess Asherah. Asa tore it down, smashed it, and burned it up in the Kidron Valley.

  22. 16 And also concerning Maachah the mother of Asa the king, he removed her from being queen, because she had made an idol in a grove: and Asa cut down her idol, and stamped it, and burnt it at the brook Kidron.

Asa had found favor with the Lord and was doing all he could to serve the Lord righteously. He wasn’t afraid to remove even his own flesh and blood because she was not willing to serve the Lord.

As hard as it is, sometimes we have to remove ourselves even from our own flesh and blood because they participate in things that is enmity against God. It’s not that we don’t love them, but we can’t agree with what they are doing and it’s best to just step away.

  23. 2 And he went out to meet Asa, and said unto him, Hear ye me, Asa, and all Judah and Benjamin; The Lord is with you, while ye be with him; and if ye seek him, he will be found of you; but if ye forsake him, he will forsake you.

When you put God first I will always be there because u is your father and if you don’t put him first and leave him till the end of you don’t ask for what his will be he will forsake you. We need to put God first before anything else put God first and everything else will go in its place .

  24. 2 and he went out to meet King Asa as he was returning from the battle. “Listen to me, Asa!” he shouted. “Listen, all you people of Judah and Benjamin! The LORD will stay with you as long as you stay with him! Whenever you seek him, you will find him. But if you abandon him, he will abandon you.

God hears you, and will find you. We just have to seek him with all our heart. The closer we get to God, he will reveal himself to us.

  25. 7 Be ye strong therefore, and let not your hands be weak: for your work shall be rewarded.

  26. But as for you, be strong and courageous, for your work will be rewarded.”
    2 Chronicles 15:7 NLT
    http://bible.com/116/2ch.15.7.NLT

Even in the times of need and trouble or when we are trying to change and feel that it’s not possible or we fall into the same sin again. We must be strong and courageous no matter how many times we call as long as we seek Him and let Him change us we can overcome.

  27. “And he went out to meet Asa, and said unto him, Hear ye me, Asa, and all Judah and Benjamin; The Lord is with you, while ye be with him; and if ye seek him, he will be found of you; but if ye forsake him, he will forsake you.” The word of God (Jesus) revealed the key, too our day as well. One should be mindful of what eventually became of Israel, after they turned away from Jesus (God). Likewise one should also be mindful of our leaders as well as those that want to become leaders. Do they support God and his word, or do they support self, immorality, deception, or other abominable actions. Dear God (Judge), move on us that we would earnestly pray and seek your will. God Bless America, Israel, Jerusalem, and you all in Jesus name, Amen!

  28. “And also concerning Maachah the mother of Asa the king, he removed her from being queen, because she had made an idol in a grove: and Asa cut down her idol, and stamped it, and burnt it at the brook Kidron.” Asa let no one stand in his way in his attempt to please the Lord. We should consider his actions and our own, as we choose this day whom we will serve. God help us and let our thoughts and actions please you, in Jesus name.

  29. 7 Be ye strong therefore, and let not your hands be weak: for your work shall be rewarded.

When we are weary God is our streghth. We must keep holding on to the very end, in due season we will recieve our blessings!

  30. 12And they entered into a covenant to seek the Lord God of their fathers with all their heart and with all their soul;

13 That whosoever would not seek the Lord God of Israel should be put to death, whether small or great, whether man or woman.

  31. vss.6-7 ” So nation was destroyed by nation, and city by city, for GOD troubled them with every adversity.
” But you, be strong and do not let your hands be weak, for your work shall be rewarded!”

Temporary trouble sometimes as Christians we go through difficult situations, but Praise GOD we have a word from the LORD.
WE CAN face our difficulties with confidence and KNOW that the work of the LORD is being done and our future rewards will far outweigh any sacrifices that we make now
JESUS CHRIST will strengthen and encourage those with walk with HIM faithfully in this world.
Others will be in encourage and strengthen
in their lives when they see what you are experiencing from GOD.
v9 helps us to see this.”
” For they came over to him in great numbers from Isreal when they saw that the LORD was with him.

  32. 2 Chronicles 15:4 (KJV Strong’s)
4 But when they in their trouble did turn unto the Lord God of Israel, and sought him, he was found of them.

God could have said no. He could have told Asa that he would not help until he cleaned up the land. However God gave the victory and Asa realized the position they were in. He repented led the rest of them in repentance too.

I’m thankful to serve a God who looks not at who I am now but what I could be.

  33. 7 Be ye strong therefore, and let not your hands be weak: for your work shall be rewarded

The Lord knows and keep count. We should not allow the enemy to throw things in our mind and be distracted from what God has called us to do. The Lord sees our every effort and sacrifice and will bless faithfulness. This same scripture reminded of another one almost like it:

:And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.
    Ga 6:9 NKJV

  34. 4 But when they in their trouble did turn unto the Lord God of Israel, and sought him, he was found of them.

If we, in our troubled states, would seek His face first, He would not only give us His hand too, but so much more too .

  35. 12 And they entered into a covenant to seek the Lord God of their fathers with all their heart and with all their soul;

13 That whosoever would not seek the Lord God of Israel should be put to death, whether small or great, whether man or woman.

I have seen in my lifetime too many times people take the grace of God for granted, even tho Paul was very clear that we should not continue in sin to let grace abound more. But I have also seen among these…a time when his grace places a barrier between the people of God and everyone for themselves. I have witnessed with my own spirit the hand of God divide those that cling to the grave and mercy of Christ and those that use it to get as close to being worldly as possible.

  36. This verse is one of my hidden treasures in the Bible. This is a good scripture to pray before work everyday. This scripture is implanted in my daily prayer. We have to keep going, keep teaching,
    Keep reaching…. God sees it.

7 Be ye strong therefore, and let not your hands be weak: for your work shall be rewarded.

  37. Asa understood the importance of serving God. When you follow God’s plan, you can’t help but to come out victorious. Seek him first and the other things shall be added to you.

  38. Asa did well in removing the pagan shrines. Although he did not get them all, his intentions were pure. We should not be so critical of ourselves and our failures when our hearts in in the right place. May we continue to rely on Christ as he conforms us into his image. Allow grace and peace to lead us in all things.

  39. Though it is a daily process we can’t get so caught up in what we do wrong that we forget how far we’ve come. Keep walking in faith in the Lord. Not only will He help remove any further “shrines” you may hold onto, He will give you strength to continue on with Him.

  40. 2 And he went out to meet Asa, and said unto him, Hear ye me, Asa, and all Judah and Benjamin; The Lord is with you, while ye be with him; and if ye seek him, he will be found of you; but if ye forsake him, he will forsake you.

It’s a scary thing to imagine walking in the darkness without light. Asa is warned here before he goes into a trial that if he forsakes God that in turn God will forsake him. The Lord is with you now and if you seek after him you will have access to him. When you step out of his light then you step out into darkness and become prey to Satan and enemy of God. It’s a dangerous place to be outside the covering of God and that is why he is being warned now before devastation hits. Will he listen, would we of listened?

  41. “And in those times there was no peace to him that went out, nor to him that came in, but great vexations were upon all the inhabitants of the countries.

And when Asa heard these words, and the prophecy of Oded the prophet, he took courage, and put away the abominable idols out of all the land of Judah and Benjamin, and out of the cities which he had taken from mount Ephraim, and renewed the altar of the Lord, that was before the porch of the Lord.”
    ‭‭2 Chronicles‬ ‭15:5, 8‬ ‭KJV‬‬

The people had no peace. Whe. There is no Jesus there is no peace. When it seems like there is no peace in our lives, when all rest is gone, it is time to examine ourselves. The. We need to rebuild the altar of sacrifices and let the King of kings reign and rule in our lives once again. T will he time to dethrone self to put the one true a god in his rightful place.

  42. Be ye strong therefore, and let not your hands be weak: for your work shall be rewarded.(2 Chronicles 15:7 KJV)

We are called to stand ans be strong. Not to grow weary in good doing because in due season we shall reap the harvest. Paul says “Be on guard. Stand firm in the faith. Be courageous. Be strong” in 1 Corinthians 16:13.

  43. 17 But the high places were not taken away out of Israel: nevertheless the heart of Asa was perfect all his days.

18 And he brought into the house of God the things that his father had dedicated, and that he himself had dedicated, silver, and gold, and vessels.

  44. 16-19 In his cleanup of the country, Asa went so far as to remove his mother, Queen Maacah, from her throne because she had built a shockingly obscene image of the sex goddess Asherah. Asa tore it down, smashed it, and burned it up in the Kidron Valley. Unfortunately he didn’t get rid of the local sex-and-religion shrines. But he was well-intentioned—his heart was in the right place, loyal to God.

God does not ask for perfection, only excellence in all that we do. We, as humans are incapable of being perfect. We were born into sin, live in sin and will die in sin. Grace and mercy are the only things keeping us from being judged as the sinners we are. As good a king as Asa was; cleaning things up and even taking down his own mother, he was not perfect. God honored his excellent effort.

    Thomas Greenspan quoted the following:
Excellence is risk – perfection is fear
Excellence is effort – perfection is anger and frustration
Excellence is openness to being wrong – perfection is having to be right
Excellence is spontaneity – perfection is control
Excellence is flow – perfection pressure
Excellence is confidence – perfection is doubt
Excellence is a journey – perfection is a destination
Excellence is acceptance – perfection is judgement

Of these, I believe the last one speaks to Christians. We, as Christians have no right to judge those around us. It is not our job. If we see someone slipping, lend a helping hand not a judgmental comment.
