2 Chronicles 17

1 And Jehoshaphat his son reigned in his stead, and strengthened himself against Israel.

2 And he placed forces in all the fenced cities of Judah, and set garrisons in the land of Judah, and in the cities of Ephraim, which Asa his father had taken.

3 And the Lord was with Jehoshaphat, because he walked in the first ways of his father David, and sought not unto Baalim;

4 But sought to the Lord God of his father, and walked in his commandments, and not after the doings of Israel.

5 Therefore the Lord stablished the kingdom in his hand; and all Judah brought to Jehoshaphat presents; and he had riches and honour in abundance.

6 And his heart was lifted up in the ways of the Lord: moreover he took away the high places and groves out of Judah.

7 Also in the third year of his reign he sent to his princes, even to Benhail, and to Obadiah, and to Zechariah, and to Nethaneel, and to Michaiah, to teach in the cities of Judah.

8 And with them he sent Levites, even Shemaiah, and Nethaniah, and Zebadiah, and Asahel, and Shemiramoth, and Jehonathan, and Adonijah, and Tobijah, and Tobadonijah, Levites; and with them Elishama and Jehoram, priests.

9 And they taught in Judah, and had the book of the law of the Lord with them, and went about throughout all the cities of Judah, and taught the people.

10 And the fear of the Lord fell upon all the kingdoms of the lands that were round about Judah, so that they made no war against Jehoshaphat.

11 Also some of the Philistines brought Jehoshaphat presents, and tribute silver; and the Arabians brought him flocks, seven thousand and seven hundred rams, and seven thousand and seven hundred he goats.

12 And Jehoshaphat waxed great exceedingly; and he built in Judah castles, and cities of store.

13 And he had much business in the cities of Judah: and the men of war, mighty men of valour, were in Jerusalem.

14 And these are the numbers of them according to the house of their fathers: Of Judah, the captains of thousands; Adnah the chief, and with him mighty men of valour three hundred thousand.

15 And next to him was Jehohanan the captain, and with him two hundred and fourscore thousand.

16 And next him was Amasiah the son of Zichri, who willingly offered himself unto the Lord; and with him two hundred thousand mighty men of valour.

17 And of Benjamin; Eliada a mighty man of valour, and with him armed men with bow and shield two hundred thousand.

18 And next him was Jehozabad, and with him an hundred and fourscore thousand ready prepared for the war.

19 These waited on the king, beside those whom the king put in the fenced cities throughout all Judah.

  1. 9 And they taught in Judah, and had the book of the law of the Lord with them, and went about throughout all the cities of Judah, and taught the people.

    10 And the fear of the Lord fell upon all the kingdoms of the lands that were round about Judah, so that they made no war against Jehoshaphat.

    This why we need to read daily so we can go out and teacher the the word to those who are lost so maybe they might turn from their wicked way

  2. iLove to Grow in the Word
    2 Chronicles 17:3 NLT The LORD was with Jehoshaphat because he followed the example of his father’s early years and did not worship the images of Baal.

    Wow. Just this scripture alone today show encourage us to lead our families in the righteousness of God. Notice the Word says that he followed the example of his father’s early years…Whew, Jesus help us be good examples both now and also in the future. The Lord used the example of once Godly Asa to lead the whole nation.

  3. 2 Chronicles 17:7-9 (NLT)
    7) In the third year of his reign Jehoshaphat sent his officials to teach in all the towns of Judah. These officials included Ben-hail, Obadiah, Zechariah, Nethanel, and Micaiah.
    8) He sent Levites along with them, including Shemaiah, Nethaniah, Zebadiah, Asahel, Shemiramoth, Jehonathan, Adonijah, Tobijah, and Tob-Adonijah. He also sent out the priests Elishama and Jehoram.
    9) They took copies of the Book of the Law of the LORD and traveled around through all the towns of Judah, teaching the people.

    King Jehoshaphat SENT them, the officials, the Levites, and the priests, to teach the people of Judah the Book of the Law of the LORD (God’s Word).
    Jesus has commanded us to “GO”. He is SENDING us to “GO preach the gosple (God’s Word) to every creature.” This includes Ministers, Muscicians, Praise Singers, Sunday School Teachers, Cleaners, Van & Bus Drivers, Motion, Youth, etc… Everyone can be involved in OUTREACH! and Sharing God’s Word!!

  4. BIBLE STUDIES! BOOM
    2 Chronicles 17:8-9 NLT (8) He sent Levites along with them, including Shemaiah, Nethaniah, Zebadiah, Asahel, Shemiramoth, Jehonathan, Adonijah, Tobijah, and Tob-adonijah. He also sent out the priests Elishama and Jehoram. (9) They took copies of the Book of the Law of the LORD and traveled around through all the towns of Judah, teaching the people.

  5. In this chapter we see how Jehoshaphat was blessed as he was a seeker and follower of God (it says he was single-minded in following God). God was on his side and he ended up very rich and much honored. Verse 12 MSG says “So Jehoshaphat became stronger by the day, and constructed more and more forts and store-cities—an age of prosperity for Judah!” Prosperity not poverty….just like Pastor said, that has already been broken and it is now time for an age of prosperity. POFW let us now make a circuit of the towns (suburbs) of Fort Worth, teaching the people and using the word of God (Bible) just as Jehoshaphat’s officials/priests did in the end of verse 9 in the MSG version.

  6. 3 And the Lord was with Jehoshaphat, because he walked in the first ways of his father David, and sought not unto Baalim;

    4 But sought to the Lord God of his father, and walked in his commandments, and not after the doings of Israel.

  7. 6 And his heart was lifted up in the ways of the Lord: moreover he took away the high places and groves out of Judah.

    This is so true. I Love you,Jesus! You are the lifter of my head. You make my heart light and I am strengthened by Your joy. You are such an amazing God!! When are hearts are lifted by the LORD we want to do more things to please him. We want to grow closer. How can we grow closer if there are idols in our territory? What in your life is restricting you from growing closer to God? What high places must come down?

  8. 3. And the Lord was with Jehoshaphat, because he walked in the first ways of his father David, and sought not unto Baalim;

    5. Therefore the Lord stablished the kingdom in his hand; and all Judah brought to Jehoshaphat presents; and he had riches and honour in abundance.

    Matthew 6:33
    But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

    11. Also some of the Philistines brought Jehoshaphat presents, and tribute silver; and the Arabians brought him flocks, seven thousand and seven hundred rams, and seven thousand and seven hundred he goats.

    Wait a minute…
    David defeated the giant of the Philistines, then Jehoshophat walked in the ways of David, then the Philistines brought him presents…
    So that means when we walk in the ways of our fathers, not only will the enemies they defeated not be against us, they’ll bring us gifts!

  9. 11 Also some of the Philistines brought Jehoshaphat presents, and tribute silver; and the Arabians brought him flocks, seven thousand and seven hundred rams, and seven thousand and seven hundred,

    Presents presented to the leader, tribute for all he was doing.. Don’t ever begrudge anything that is done for your Pastor and First Lady. We should be honoring them. We could never give bCk all they have given. We do not see all of the sacrifices they have made and do make. Don’t ever think they have an easy life for you do not have a church as great as POFW with out a pastoral leadership that has made some great sacrifices unto God to see the kingdom of God lifted up.
    Always hold them up in prayer and every once in a while surprise them with a gift card or note of appreciation for all they do for us and for God!
    God ‘s blessings are great when we seek first His kingdom and all of his righteousness,

  10. 9 And they taught in Judah, and had the book of the law of the Lord with them, and went about throughout all the cities of Judah, and taught the people.

    In these 3 verses it talks about how Jehoshaphat wanted to spread the word of God by sending people out with the book of the law of the lord, for when they did this, and when the kingdoms found out who God was fear was present from them for who The lord was. They also made no war against Jehoshaphat and he was given gifts. This all shows that with the lord, Jesus Christ we will prevale and when we do the works of God he will provide in abundance, even putting protection over us .

  11. 2 Chronicles 17:16 (KJV Strong’s)
    16 And next him was Amasiah the son of Zichri, who willingly offered himself unto the Lord; and with him two hundred thousand mighty men of valour.

    Amasiah willingly offered himself to the Lord. The word offered means spontaneous giving. He suddenly gave himself to serve God on purpose.

    Why?

    Jehoshaphat the King chose to live for God and not the people. His influence was felt in the kingdom and people began to see the testimonies and turned to God as well.

    Amasiah may have only been saved from paganism and idolatry because of the leadership of King Jehoshaphat and his choice to serve the Lord.

    Our choices to serve God may be the only way someone else will make it.

  12. 9 And they taught in Judah, and had the book of the law of the Lord with them, and went about throughout all the cities of Judah, and taught the people.

    Teaching the word of the Lord had a profound affect on people-even those who were enemies. God’s word is powerful. Study it and Be ready to give your testimony or teach someone what has been taught to you so we can influence this entire region for his kingdom.

  13. GROW IN GOD

    The revolution of REVIVAL for the last days is placed in the hands, feet and mouth of the Church. How we utilize our time remaining as the church will be the trust of last day harvest into the Kingdom of GOD.

    Somehow the call of GOD must convict us to rearrange our schedule to fulfill the Will of our FATHER. “Seek and SAVE the lost”. We are empowered and enabled to do this as we go teach the WORD of GOD throughout all the city. We witness here the call to TEACH HOME BIBLE STUDIES.

    Teaching the WORD of GOD is what will REVIVE the FEAR of the LORD. Which in turn will mobilize the MIGHTY Army of the Kingdom of GOD.

    The LORD spoke to us in Prayer last night that there will be a “WHAT MEANETH THIS” spirit to overtake the region of Fort Worth in coming days. We the church of the Kingdom of GOD must be ready and prepared to TEACH the WORD of GOD and assist others as we GROW IN GOD.

    WHAT MEANETH THIS

    Acts 2:1 And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.
    2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.
    3 And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.
    4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

    Acts 2:12 And they were all amazed, and were in doubt, saying one to another, What meaneth this?

    May the Kingdom of GOD and the will of our Father rest mightily upon us today in JESUS name.

    iRepent
    iPraise
    iPray
    iWork
    iGive
    iReap

  14. 3 And the Lord was with Jehoshaphat, because he walked in the first ways of his father David, and sought not unto Baalim;

    Jeposhaphat walked in the ways of David, and therefore the Lord established him.

    Whenever we stray from the path God has given us or get out of balance, it’s important that we go back and do our first works, repentance, and begin again laying the foundation of discipline in our lives.

  15. 2 Chronicles 17:9 They taught throughout Judah taking with them the book of The Law of the Lord they went around to all the towns of Judah and taught the people. The fear of the Lord fell on the kingdoms of the lands surrounding Judah so that they did not go to war against Jehoshaphat. Some Philistines brought Jehoshaphat gifts and silver as tribute and the Arabs brought him flicks seven thousand seven hundred rams and seven thousand hundred goats.

    I am thankful and praise God that we have a church that teaches the law of God to all who become members for knowledge is powerful and good. We become strong in the kingdom of God to tear down every strong hold.

  16. 7 Also in the third year of his reign he sent to his princes, even to Benhail, and to Obadiah, and to Zechariah, and to Nethaneel, and to Michaiah, to teach in the cities of Judah.

    We need to tell the people of this nation how great our God is, and teach them about God’s commandments!!

  17. 3 And the Lord was with Jehoshaphat, because he walked in the first ways of his father David, and sought not unto Baalim;

    4 But sought to the Lord God of his father, and walked in his commandments, and not after the doings of Israel.

    Your past, or who your decendnts were does not determine who you can become. Life, chance and opportunities are given to every individual to determine their path of life. Just because one comes from a background of roughness or poverty or violence that means you have to be that way. We are the outcome of our choices. Ive heard this a while back, “you choose to sin, you choose to suffer.” it takes having your mind made up to be different and it takes work.

    The word tella us in romans:
    Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.
    Romans 12:2 NLT

    Let God mold you and change your thinking. You can be whatever God wants you to be. As a man thinks in his heart so is he.

  18. 9 And they taught in Judah, and had the book of the law of the Lord with them, and went about throughout all the cities of Judah, and taught the people.

    10 And the fear of the Lord fell upon all the kingdoms of the lands that were round about Judah, so that they made no war against Jehoshaphat.

    It is up to us, the church, to go out and teach His word, so that the fear of Lord may fall upon this nation once again!!

  19. 3 And the Lord was with Jehoshaphat, because he walked in the first ways of his father David, and sought not unto Baalim;

    4 But sought to the Lord God of his father, and walked in his commandments, and not after the doings of Israel.

    5 Therefore the Lord stablished the kingdom in his hand; and all Judah brought to Jehoshaphat presents; and he had riches and honour in abundance.
    Jehoshaphat was wise because he learned from the mistakes of those before him and choose to live for God instead of follow their foolish path. As a result his kingdom was blessed and God prospered the people.

  20. To follow in the ways of the Lord means to lean not to your own understanding. When we try to do things our way we interfere with God’s plan. We must be ready to follow what God has put into place.

  21. 3 And the Lord was with Jehoshaphat, because he walked in the first ways of his father David, and sought not unto Baalim;

    4 But sought to the Lord God of his father, and walked in his commandments, and not after the doings of Israel.

    5 Therefore the Lord stablished the kingdom in his hand; and all Judah brought to Jehoshaphat presents; and he had riches and honour in abundance.

  22. 9 And they taught in Judah, and had the book of the law of the Lord with them, and went about throughout all the cities of Judah, and taught the people.

    10 And the fear of the Lord fell upon all the kingdoms of the lands that were round about Judah, so that they made no war against Jehoshaphat.

  23. “And the fear of the Lord fell upon all the kingdoms of the lands that were round about Judah, so that they made no war against Jehoshaphat.” The word of God (Jesus) reveals why. Salvation and freedom both have a cost, which both were purchased with blood. One should be mindful of anyone that threatens either with either their statements or their actions, which also reveals what is truly in their heart. Dear God, remove from power rulers and leaders as well as those seeking positions that are unfearful of you. God Bless America, Israel, Jerusalem, and you all in Jesus name, Amen!

  24. “And the Lord was with Jehoshaphat, because he walked in the first ways of his father David, and sought not unto Baalim”. The Lord was with him because of his actions. We should look in the mirror on a regular basis, in hope that the Lord may likewise be with us. God help us see ourselves and our walk as you do, in Jesus name.

  25. 3 And the Lord was with Jehoshaphat, because he walked in the first ways of his father David, and sought not unto Baalim;

    4 But sought to the Lord God of his father, and walked in his commandments, and not after the doings of Israel.

  26. v5 Therefore the LORD established the kingdom in his hand; and all Judah gave presents to Jehoshaphat, and he had riches and honor in abundance.

    When we are obedient and walk with JESUS, we can live an abundant life, which we can enjoy only from abiding in HIM.

  27. 5 Therefore the Lord stablished the kingdom in his hand; and all Judah brought to Jehoshaphat presents; and he had riches and honour in abundance.

    When God eastabishes something it has to be blessed. This is why it is so importamt for us to pray before we make a decision and make sure that it is Gods will. If not it will be hard to finish it.

  28. 3 And the Lord was with Jehoshaphat, because he walked in the first ways of his father David, and sought not unto Baalim;
    4 But sought to the Lord God of his father, and walked in his commandments, and not after the doings of Israel.

    That raises questions we me about David

  29. Jehoshaphat followed his father’s early years. For that, God was in his side. J did not bow to the pagan religion. He honored God. Today, the pagan religion is a worship of self. It is, “do what makes you happy!” We do not aim to chase a false sense of happiness through ill ideas. Instead we chose to serve God.

  30. 3 And the Lord was with Jehoshaphat, because he walked in the first ways of his father David, and sought not unto Baalim;

    4 But sought to the Lord God of his father, and walked in his commandments, and not after the doings of Israel.

    5 Therefore the Lord stablished the kingdom in his hand; and all Judah brought to Jehoshaphat presents; and he had riches and honour in abundance.

    1 Timothy 4:12 NLT Don’t let anyone think less of you because you are young. Be an example to all believers in what you say, in the way you live, in your love, your faith, and your purity.

    The Greek word corresponding to “example” is “typos,” which uses the figurative illustration of “making an impact” or “marking a mark” to convey the meaning of “example” in 1 Timothy 4:12. Timothy, and by extension others within his “young generation,” are given the opportunity to “make an impact.” The younger generations of the church have the same opportunity to make an impact and be an example for the entire body of believers through the ways their lives please God. In this sort of way, we can see in verses 3-5 that Jehoshaphat lived in a way that was pleasing to God and God chose to raise him up so that his godly lifestyle could impact (be an example to) all the people he led as well as those peoples around them.

    1 John 2:13-14 KJV
    13 I write unto you, fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning. I write unto you, young men, because ye have overcome the wicked one. I write unto you, little children, because ye have known the Father.

    14 I have written unto you, fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning. I have written unto you, young men, because ye are strong, and the word of God abideth in you, and ye have overcome the wicked one.

  31. “And next him was Amasiah the son of Zichri, who willingly offered himself unto the Lord; and with him two hundred thousand mighty men of valour.”
    ‭‭2 Chronicles‬ ‭17:16‬ ‭KJV‬‬
    B
    I pray that as each of is would offer ourselves to Him thinks and give ourselves to the lord.

    Zichri = “memorable”

  32. 9 They took copies of the Book of the Law of the Lord and traveled around through all the towns of Judah, teaching the people. (NLT)

    Always carry the word with you in some way cause there are always people around who need to hear His word and truth.

  33. Jehosaphat sook first the kingdom, making Him first. In doing so all he needed was added unto him. God established his kingdom because Jehosaphat was willing to be in position and allow God to use him as a leader. Everyone says they want to be used of God but no many like the other kings of Israel would be willing to be submissive to God.

  34. And his heart was lifted up in the ways of the Lord : moreover he took away the high places and groves out of Judah.(2 Chronicles 17:6 KJV)

    Jehosaphat was lifted up in hearts because the Lord was with him. He trusted God to be his provider and protector. He was a willing servant with a humble heart to decrease that the Lord may increase. Which he does here and he increase him in power and wealth. If we put God first he will supply all our needs.

  35. 3 And the Lord was with Jehoshaphat, because he walked in the first ways of his father David, and sought not unto Baalim; 4 But sought to the Lord God of his father, and walked in his commandments, and not after the doings of Israel.

    The paths we are currently on were built by our fathers, grandfathers and further back. Whether we are a first generation Pentecost or multi-generational Pentecost, the belief/convictions/standards we currently stand on were built by those who came before us. What are we leaving to those who come behind us? Are we leaving Godly things or are we entertaining other ways?

  36. 3 The LORD was with Jehoshaphat because he followed the example of his father’s early years and did not worship the images of Baal.

    A great example. A son sees his father worship and pray to God, so now he follows his fathers lead. As fathers, our children watch our actions, and will learn from them. So we must lead our children to worship and pray to God.

  37. In the third year of his reign Jehoshaphat sent his officials to teach in all the towns of Judah. These officials included Ben-hail, Obadiah, Zechariah, Nethanel, and Micaiah.
    2 Chronicles 17:7 NLT
    http://bible.com/116/2ch.17.7.NLT

    As leaders it is our responsibility not to only lead but also to teach others. We must remember that they are always watching and learning everything we do.
